SIMCITY 2000 on Vista 64/possibly others (untested, but should work)

I created this in order to run simcity 2k on 64 bit systems. The executable for Simcity 2000 is 32 bit, however, the installer for SC2k is 16 bit, which 64 bit systems cannot run. This release fixes that.

I have only tested this on vista 64 bit, but it should work on Windows 2k, XP, and vista, 32 or 64 bit. Note that you may have better results setting the Simcity executable to compatibility mode; try windows 95 and windows 98 compatibility modes. On my system, no compatibility mode is needed, but your mileage may vary.

Simple Instructions:

Create a folder in your C:\Program Files folder called Sim City 2000. (The tree should be C:\Program Files\Sim City 2000. Extract the contents of the .rar file into it. Double click the SC2k.reg file and click yes to merge the registry data. You may now enjoy a game of Sim City 2000 on your 64 bit version of Windows!

Advanced instructions:

The registry keys listed at the bottom of this readme are the keys you need to edit IN the SC2k.reg file if you want to change your install path. Simply change C:\\Program Files\\Sim City 2000\\ in the SC2k.reg file to your desired path. Make sure you keep the subpaths under that, IE Bitmaps, Sounds, Data, ETC.

Just as an example, if I wanted to run SC2k out of D:\Old Games\Pirates\SC2K\ , then the path you need to use in the editable entries would look like this

D:\\Old Games\\Pirates\\SC2K
D:\\Old Games\\Pirates\\SC2K\\Bitmaps
D:\\Old Games\\Pirates\\SC2K\\Sounds

And so on and so forth.

Feel free to edit the mayor and company name in the .reg file. It's under a neutral name any SC lover will approve of, but you may want something more to your liking. You may merge the file, then use the "run" command under the start menu. Type in regedit, then do a search for "will wright" and change the values then, or after extracting the files to the folder you designated, opening it under a text viewer (notepad will work fine) and editing it before merging it. Make sure you uncheck the box "Always use the selected program to open this type of file" checked (And it WILL be checked by default, so uncheck it.) If the little cube thing isn't the icon anymore, right click the .reg file, and choose the default program of the registry viewer again, and this time, you will want that little box checked.

If you don't understand the advanced instructions, please just use the simple install.

Editable Registry Keys. The parts you should edit have asteriks around the editable part.
