DaedaReviews Anime Newsletter Fall Season 2026 First Episode Impressions(so far, maybe Part I) Multiple people have said they wanted me to write anime reviews. By multiple I mean at least 3 sushis, and maybe a blue tailed skink slithered in a way which suggested it to me, and maybe a bark from one of my dogs that sounded kind of like a yes. I'll just give my thoughts in order of how Oni aired them(or rather how I remmber them airing, which might get mixed up) on SushiStream and try not to be too pretentious unless there's some abstract or existential theme begging to be noticed. I may have missed one series. It was a long stream. Seitokai ni mo Ana wa Aru! (Even the Student Council Has Its Holes!) Very promising! A wacky high school comedy with lots of fanservice and weird moments that will probably make you feel funny. Also jiggly femboy moobs. Yes you read that correctly. Those were very important to the plot in the 1st episode. Animation and style looks great. Characters are charming. Probably good for pleasing a crowd. The stream sushis were certainly into it. I hope it gets voted in because I want to see more. Magic Knight Rayearth This is a... remake? Reboot? Something to that effect of a series from the 1990s. The manga was published in 1993, TV anime in 1994-1995, OVAs in 1997. It definetly shows, which I think is a good thing, if you like that classic 1990s era Clamp art style. Pacing in the 1st episode seemed okeh, maybe a little fast for me but nothing egregious. This is one of the older isekai franchises. It feels like watching a TV adaptation of 1990s era JRPG. I seem to recall one of the characters even makes a comment to this effect. The background art gave me Chrono Trigger vibes. It looks pretty! And it doesn't seem to take itself that seriously. I somehow in all my years of watching anime I completely missed the original. Perhaps because, too my knowledge, the original TV series never aired in the US, a missed oppurtunity I think. Perhaps because I'm not too much into isekai, but I wouldn't mind watching this. Might be good if you want an isekai show that returns to the genre's more simple and less edgy roots. Vertex Force It's a CG anime! And sushis usually don't like those unless it's about chickens with super powers. A mysterious event knocks out the Earth's internet access and it's just kind of a mild inconvenience for the most part somehow even though incredibly important infrastructure and the economy itself is dependant on it. I guess a natural gas plant explodes or something. This premise would be easier to buy if it was 1998. Teenagers with genetically inherited powers are the only ones who can save Earth. If this was about real teenagers we'd be doomed in reality because they'd loose interest once their task became difficult or painful or boring, and go play video games or something. But it's fiction so they're heroic and determined instead. Some stream sushis were saying it's like a bunch of anime cliches mashed together. I asked them if they thought it was written by an LLM but they didn't think it was THAT soulless. Probably one of the weaker entries this season but... I wasn't offended. Nothing stuck out as atrocious to me aside from the usual issues with CG anime. It was just there. The background art of Okinawa is nice. Someone could enjoy it. At least the title sounds cool and is easy to remember. Kind of reminds me of Zoids for some reason. Seems like the sort of thing Toonami would have aired in the afternoon. Juuou Mujin Dandivine (Dandivine) I'll be honest I don't remember too much from this one but maybe I was distracted. I do rember tho that it seems to make omage to classic kaiju media and classic giant robot anime such as Giant Ghetto Robo(Giant Getter Robo) and I dunno maybe Voltron? It even has the classic strong fat bro trope from old giant robot anime, and some nice looking girls. It's got potential I think, and good pacing. The monsters and robots are CG but the characters are hand-drawn at least. Could be fun. Hotaru no Yomeiri (Firefly Wedding) This didn't seem too interesting at first but I do like the art style. Lots of good expressions, especially that smug girl in the 1st half of the episode. You know how much we love a good smug girl on image boards. Then some real stuff happens and it's revealed that not only is this a very violent and bloody show, but also that the other main character is a literal psychopath who takes assasination jobs from the highest bidder. Satsatsat said it reminded him of the horror games that ManlyBadassHero plays for his YouTube channel. I could certainly see it. We don't get a lot of yandere males. I want to watch more of this one. I do enjoy some unconventional romance and unconventional traits for protagonists, and this qualifies I think. Tank Chair Kind of stupid but entertaining. Unique concept. Also this is another CG anime. The deaths are brutal, although the blood is pink, not red. I love main character girl's outfit. I wouldn't mind sitting through this for the rest of the season but... if it gets voted out I don't see it as that much of a tragety. Great title. Very easy to remember. I didn't have to look this one up in order to spell it! Good if you don't mind CG anime and you want a brutal action show with over-the-top violence... even if the blood is pink. Tetsuryou! Meet with Tetsudou Musume Trains! And girls! And girls riding trains! If you looked at a poster of this, the 1st episode pretty much gives you everything you'd expect. It's about a student joining a train-riding club on campus. That's about it. My only complaint is that the women are supposed to be in college but they all look like children. It would be fine to have 1 character in college who looks like a child, because that does happen, but 4? Just having that be the art style of the entire show? At least it has trains. I'm surprised really that we don't get more anime about trains given how important trains are in Japan and how common train-spotting is. Even my brother and I had model trains as a kid. H.O. scale and then N scale because they were more compact. One of the most fun train times I had as a child? My dad paying to take us on a trip to Missippi(the next state over) on an Amtrack. My brother and I were thrilled. When I was stationed in California I used to ride the trains on the weekends just for fun. If someone made anime about those Amtrack routes, I'd be thrilled about that too. That's probably how some people who have traveled these routes in Japan will feel while watching this show. It's neat. Anyway you'd think at least a solid 1/3 of all anime EVERY season would be about trains! But somehow it's still treated as a niche genre in anime. Maybe this show will change that, or maybe everyone will forget about it by next year. Who knows? I can't predict the future. Worth a watch if you like trains I suppose. I'll rate it higher if an F40PH shows up somehow. Toaru Anbu no Item (A Certain Dark Item) So in train girl anime the women look like children but are in college. In this one the women are in high school but look 30... well at least one of them does. I prefer this situation. I'd rather it be about real 30-year-olds, and maybe with the anime industry lately trying out making series about older characters in order to appeal to aging anime fans, something like that could happen, but not yet. A Certain Mom Item. It would be wonderful, but for now it's just plain old teenagers like always. Anyway I didn't think much of this at first. It had some visuals of a somewhat generic futuristic city with robots and stuff. I would have been so into that at 12 years old. The show has a darker side to it I didn't expect. A much darker one. The main girls use their superpowers(except for one who just blows things up with explosives, which is pretty cool) by night to fight a villain who is truly evil. Not like Saturday morning cartoon evil. I mean like war atrocities evil. Maybe that's too much of a spoiler. Anyway I want to see the rest of it now. I like the art style. The women are different heights and sizes and have different facial features. I love it when artists do that. This kind of reminds me of the type of anime Adult Swim was airing in the mid-2000s. Also one of the girls kind of dresses like an undine from Aria. I'd like to see more of this. FX Fighter Kurumi-chan I'd watch this one just for the music. It's so catchy. MC girl gets a super grim introduction. By the way, it's about investing in the stock market if you didn't know already. FX - foreign exchange. I guess it will also sometimes be about the personal lives of the characters and how the stock market effects that? Can't tell yet. If you want a drama(I think it's going to be primarily that) about people investing in stocks well here ya go. I suppose there's a market for it. I'd watch more, mostly for the overall style and the novelty. I just love that there's anime for appealing to such niche interests, and that the anime industry is always willing to throw darts at the wall and see what sticks, no matter how obscure the hobby or interest or occupation is. Maybe it doesn't even have to stick sometimes. Maybe we'll get a lawn care anime someday! :D I'd say the sushi audience was torn on it however, since some sushis apparently really hate the stock market. Probably not good anime for communists. Oh and there's some jiggle physics and maybe there will be some fanservice later on... in a show about stocks. That would be fascinating, purely for economic reasons. Okeh that's all for now. I'll have more laterz. Rember to drink milk unless you're lactose intolerant. Love you bai chuuuu~ :3
