Requiem of the Golden Witch shows that Battler and Shannon had an especially close relationship due to their mutual interest in mystery novels, with Battler promising to Shannon that he would come back for her on a white horse.\n\nWhen Battler was 12, Asumu died of natural causes and Rudolf swiftly married Kyrie. Disgusted by his father's infidelity, Battler renounced the Ushiromiya family name and went to live with his grandparents on Asumu's side, though he would still occasionally visit Rudolf's new family and play with his step-sister Ange.\n\nHis grandparents pass away in 1986, and so Battler returns to Rokkenjima to attend that year's family conference and renew his friendship with his cousins after a six-year gap.\n\nTwilight of the Golden Witch reveals that Battler's mother is actually Kyrie, as Rudolf had gotten both Asumu and Kyrie pregnant and they were set to give birth on the same day. Kyrie gave birth to Battler while Asumu had a miscarriage, and Rudolf bribed the doctors to swap the results to hide the fact he had an illegitimate child. Twilight's ??? also reveals that Battler had survived the Rokkenjima Mass Murders in 1986 but suffered brain damage from nearly drowning and developed amnesia. He was later taken in by Ikuko Hachijo and given the new name of Tohya Hachijo. After Tohya started to recover his memories of Battler, he struggled to accept them as his own and began writing stories about the Rokkenjima Mass Murders to cope..]\n\n[Battler has auburn spiky hair. He is also fairly intelligent, as End of the Golden Witch reveals that he's a fan of mystery novels. He is very skeptical when it comes to the existence of magic and opts to find a logical explanation for things but is held back by his refusal to accept that his family and friends could be murderers, preferring to accuse an unknown person X as the culprit.\nBattler is very perverted, where he attempts to grope Jessica and Shannon when he reunites with them and jokes with Maria about her being too young.\nAfter End of the Golden Witch, following his ascent as the Golden Sorcerer, Battler wholeheartedly accepts magic and almost completely drops the perverted side of him.]\n\n[Battler doesn't have any magical abilities of his own and typically relies on his intellect, the Devil's Proof and chessboard thinking to make theories. His staunch refusal to accept magic gives him magical defense of Endless Nine, which nullifies any magic attacks used on him. In Alliance of the Golden Witch, he is given the ability to use Blue Truth.\n\nIn End of the Golden Witch, Battler reaches the truth of Beatrice's game and ascends to Game Master, receiving a golden longsword which he uses to spin blue and red truths at will. Battler also obtains the power of Gold Truth, enabling him to guarantee certain aspects that would be impossible to prove prior. He also gains Ronove, the Stakes of Purgatory, and Virgilia as his Furniture. Battler believed Rudolf betrayed his dead mother Asumu with this act and was disgusted, abandoning the family name and going to live with his grandparents for a while. Even after they reunite in 1986, the two still aren't on good terms; Battler calls his father a bastard at times, and Rudolf jokes that he would gladly hand off his son to robbers. Despite their relationship, Battler still sheds tears anytime his parents are killed.\n\nKyrie Ushiromiya\nKyrie is Battler's stepmother, but their relationship is more like a sibling one, as remarked by Battler himself. Kyrie doesn't consider Battler to be her son and sometimes treated him coldly just because he's Asumu's son.\n\nIn Twilight of the Golden Witch, Kyrie breaks down upon learning Battler, who she has been resenting all those years, was her biological son all along.\n\nAnge Ushiromiya\nAnge is Battler's young sister, and despite Battler's falling out with Rudolf he still loved to hang out with Ange. During a trip to an amusement park, Battler won some hair ornaments from a crane game as a gift for Ange, which she still cherishes.\n\nBeatrice\nBeatrice is Battler's opponent and rival, and Beatrice loves to mock and torment the latter when he fails to come up with theories. Battler is often disgusted by Beatrice's cruelty and brutal displays of magic, coming to a head in Banquet of the Golden Witch when he refuses to play against Beato when she sits by and laughs at EVA-Beatrice's torment of Rosa and Maria. Beato starts trying to reform herself and Battler accepts her change, but quickly goes back to fighting her when it's revealed that Beato's reformation was an act.\n\nIn End of the Golden Witch, Battler starts to become more understanding of Beatrice, crying in the ??? when he finally reaches the truth too late. He falls in love with Beatrice and tries to recreate her when she dies, initially considering the new Beato to be a failure but comes to accept and finally marry her after her memories return.\n\nVirgilia\nVirgilia acts as Battler's advisor against the witch side starting in Banquet of the Golden Witch. Though he remarks on the irony of getting a witch's help to deny witches, Battler takes Virgilia's advice to heart and is able to move forward with his reasoning. Even though Virgilia betrays Battler by revealing she was on Beato's side all along at the end of Banquet, she still continues to give him advice in End of the Golden Witch.\n\nErika Furudo\nBattler and Erika are rivals, both given the task of denying the witch, but they differ in their methodology: Battler takes an anti-fantasy stance and will use any ridiculous theory so long as it's not magical, but Erika is strictly mystery-focused and provides theories with logic and evidence. But this is merely a facade, as Erika is truly an arrogant, sadistic, ruthless and cruel woman who cares little for anyone but herself. She revels in dismantling the theories of others and substituting what she believes is the one true truth.\n\nErika's confidence in her abilities leads her to often underestimate her opponents. She also demonstrates a rather vindictive side to her character during End of the Golden Witch when she informs Battler why she wanted to solve the epitaph in the first place: she wanted to not only sneer at whoever proposed the epitaph's riddle, but to get revenge on Jessica for interrupting her during her solving of the epitaph; she wanted to see the angry and pitiful expression Jessica would likely don upon realizing that Battler stole the headship from her father as well. Her hatred of Battler stems from losing to him later on. As such, spinning the chessboard around (180 degrees) allows one to see the board from the point of view of one's opponents, allowing one to both have a better idea of their opponent's strategy as well as come up with a new plan of attack.\n\nThe concept may be extended to reasoning in general. For example, in Legend of the Golden Witch Battler initially assumes that a 19th person does exist, as each the 18 people denied giving Maria the umbrella and letter, and because there are many possible hiding spots on the island. By spinning the chessboard around, Kyrie is able to observe that there is a contradiction between the fact that a 19th person would have hidden themselves and the fact that they chose to personally appear to Maria in order to give her the letter. If remaining hidden were Beatrice's goal, she should have mailed the letter to the family. Conversely, if making her presence known were her goal, she should have simply presented herself in front of everyone. Her conclusion using this reasoning is thus that this situation would be most beneficial if one of the 18 people were trying to create the illusion of a 19th person on the island.]\n\n[Weaknesses\n\nKyrie herself acknowledges that chessboard thinking is not perfect, as real life is filled with noise—additional information that makes it difficult to identify the relevant details. The weaknesses of chessboard thinking are discussed at several points in the story by the characters.\n\nImperfect Information\nOne major weakness of chessboard thinking is the possibility of imperfect information. This is due to the fact that real life is not constrained by the fixed rules and fixed gameboard found in chess, but contains an infinitely large number of possible actions and information. The knowledge that one gains about one's opponent and their actions may be limited and skewed, resulting in a faulty prediction. In addition, Maria suggests that an opponent like Beatrice may have the ability to move her pieces in ways that humans cannot.\n\nImperfect Moves\nChessboard thinking often makes the rationality assumption, treating the opponent's moves as if they are the best ones possible for them. Kyrie observes that human emotions contribute noise, reducing the predictability of a person's response in a given situation. A human player may choose a weak move on a whim, toy with their opponent, or simply make an honest mistake. Thus, treating one's opponent's moves as perfectly rational runs the risk of resulting in an incorrect reading of their situation and goals.\n\nMisreading the Opponent\nChessboard thinking is about reading your opponent and their motives, and thus the foundation of its reasoning collapses if one makes the wrong assumption about their opponent's goals. Because chessboard thinking involves projecting oneself onto one's opponents, a greedy person may simply imagine money to be their opponent's goal. If one's opponent has a goal other than victory, chessboard theory will fail without information on their true motives.]","contextConfig":{"prefix":"","suffix":"\n","tokenBudget":2048,"reservedTokens":0,"budgetPriority":400,"trimDirection":"trimBottom","insertionType":"newline","maximumTrimType":"sentence","insertionPosition":-1},"lastUpdatedAt":1629439922989,"displayName":"Reasoning\\Chessboard Thinking","id":"47c9b3d5-8957-4acd-8cf8-ddbaf4887161","keys":[],"searchRange":1000,"enabled":true,"forceActivation":false,"keyRelative":false,"nonStoryActivatable":false,"category":"11b171a5-b755-4bb5-ba91-c9ecb41a61e2"},{"text":"[The Devil's Proof is the logical dilemma that while evidence will prove the existence of something, the lack of evidence fails to disprove it.\n\nThe Devil is used to illustrate the principle, but as a legal term it's often applied in IP rights suits involving black box technologies, such as patented chemical processes for production and software source code. The physics of the original thought experiment has little bearing on its use as a metaphor; what is important is the idea of an unobserved entity with multiple possible states. Because Eva, the survivor of the Rokkenjima Mass Murders, refused to disclose the truth of what happened on the island, and because no evidence was found on the island to establish any events that transpired, the events of the two days are said to be \"shut within the cat box\". Multiple explanations of what happened on the two days were made, some of which were presented in the discovered message bottles, and others which were born out of public speculation in the aftermath of the incident. However, without an authoritative way of establishing the actual events of the two days, all of the narratives are allowed to coexist as individual truths.\n\nIn the story, Schrodinger's cat box was first introduced by Virgilia in a conversation with Battler. Virgilia used the example of Braun tubes, suggesting that unless one takes apart a Braun tube to look inside, it is impossible to disprove her magical explanation that gremlins in the tubes are what allows television images to be displayed. While the cat box was first mentioned only in the narration, Beatrice and Ronove recognized Battler's subsequent argument as a use of this reasoning technique.\n\nThe key insight of the cat box in Battler's game against Beatrice is that it allowed him to recognize that the events that he observed of the game board from Purgatorio are Beatrice's narrative of what happened, not the actual events that occurred. This allowed him to avoid being overwhelmed by Beatrice's grandiose displays of magic and distracted by the search for an explanation for them. He would thus be able to focus on getting Beatrice to establish the facts by using the red truth.\n\nAnother key feature of the cat box, as pointed out by Bernkastel and Ange in Alliance of the Golden Witch, is that the true status of the \"cat\" can be established by opening the \"box\". In Twilight of the Golden Witch, this idea is explored in the existence of and conflict over Eva's diary, a locked diary where Eva had written and sealed away the true events of the Rokkenjima Mass Murders. When one has both the diary and the key to it, the \"lid\" of the cat box can be opened, allowing one to view its contents and establish a single truth over all other narratives. The issue of whether or not the diary should be revealed to the public or even opened at all by Ange serves as the central conflict of the story arc.\n\n]","contextConfig":{"prefix":"","suffix":"\n","tokenBudget":2048,"reservedTokens":0,"budgetPriority":400,"trimDirection":"trimBottom","insertionType":"newline","maximumTrimType":"sentence","insertionPosition":-1},"lastUpdatedAt":1629439948283,"displayName":"Reasoning\\Schrodinger's Cat Box","id":"56a01111-03ec-444d-9903-69464f810cf6","keys":[],"searchRange":1000,"enabled":true,"forceActivation":false,"keyRelative":false,"nonStoryActivatable":false,"category":"11b171a5-b755-4bb5-ba91-c9ecb41a61e2"},{"text":"[Hempel's Raven , based on the raven paradox, was proposed to illustrate a contradiction between inductive and deductive logic.\n\nPremise: All ravens are black.\nMaterial Implication: Anything non-black is not a raven.\n\nLacking a raven to observe, the entire observable set of non-black objects can be taken as evidence of the raven's blackness.\n\nEven its most accepting critics are doubtful of the qualify of proof that can be derived from this, but it can be used to further undermine already weak arguments.\n]","contextConfig":{"prefix":"","suffix":"\n","tokenBudget":2048,"reservedTokens":0,"budgetPriority":400,"trimDirection":"trimBottom","insertionType":"newline","maximumTrimType":"sentence","insertionPosition":-1},"lastUpdatedAt":1629439940880,"displayName":"Reasoning\\Hempel's Raven","id":"b3405007-240d-4823-8ca1-e8c4920e2c2c","keys":[],"searchRange":1000,"enabled":true,"forceActivation":false,"keyRelative":false,"nonStoryActivatable":false,"category":"11b171a5-b755-4bb5-ba91-c9ecb41a61e2"},{"text":"[Detective's Authority is a genre convention necessary for compliance with Knox's 8th (or Van Dine's 1st.) Fascinated, \"Princess\" asked Virgilia to become her teacher, training and eventually receiving the titles of Endless and Golden Witch. Beatrice claims that afterward, she lived for centuries and met Kinzo, who fell in love with her and sold his soul to her for 10 tons of gold. Because he loved her so much, he sealed her in a cage of flesh and was released when it was destroyed by Rosa.\n\nSee Yasuda's page for more information.\n\nSome point after the aforementioned events, when Shannon was doubting her relationship with George, Beatrice gave her a golden butterfly brooch in return for destroying the mirror in the shrine. She and Shannon would later often have tea together. She also befriended Maria, who later became her apprentice. She would also perform magic for Maria in front of Doctor Nanjo, Kanon, Shannon, Genji and Kumasawa.\n\nAt some point after these aforementioned events, Beatrice planned out the Rokkenjima Massacre and created an uncertain amount of forgeries which all set her as the culprit. Her dress constantly switches from brown to dark brown across the different adaptations, appearing brown in both the anime and PS3 game, while the dark brown in Ougon Musou Kyoku and the original visual novel. She also wears the successor ring on her left middle finger. She is also sometimes seen holding a gold kiseru. In Ougon Musou Kyoku her outfit has a ribbon added to her lower back. In Pachi-Slot Umineko no Naku Koro ni, she has long nails polished red.\n\nHer human form wears a collared shirt with a cropped jacket and tie, a ruffled miniskirt, striped stockings, and boots and usually holds a cane with an eagle head as the handle. She is at times very composed and majestic, and at other times very disgraceful and insightful with a creepy laughter and a demonic smile.\n\nHowever, as the saga goes on, more sides of her character are revealed. She proves to have a very joyful attitude and quite a childish side. She is in fact described by her teacher as a naive child who loves to play with toys without the fear to break them and also with a power so big that she hardly realizes she can handle. She shows this side primarily with Virgilia and Ronove which have a very parent-like attitude with her and less with Battler which she'd feel embarrassed with to act so. Quite common is, in fact, to see her sobbing on Virgilia's chest when things don't go her way.]\n\n[As the Endless Witch, Beatrice has the ability to control life and death and can revive and kill people as she pleases. She can also repair damaged objects and served as alchemical advisor to the Ushiromiya family, rumored to be the one who gave Kinzo the ten tons of gold. Beatrice is also shown levitating in the air, teleporting, and turning into a swarm of golden butterflies. In the 4th game, she is shown burning Kinzo to death just by thinking about it. She uses her golden pipe as a wand and in Twilight of the Golden Witch can transform it into a golden duel sword, as seen when she fights Erika. Beatrice also has outstanding resilience and defense, as seen during her duel with Virgilia when she gets impaled by several spears only to heal herself soon after. Though she is said to be a witch in a beginner class, it is possible that she would be no match for anybody were she fully aware of her powers.\n\nDespite having these powers, Beatrice typically relies on familiars to act for her. She uses the Stakes of Purgatory to carry out the murders on the island, later employing the Chiester Sisters Imperial Guard Corps. She also summons goat attendants to perform basic tasks for her, with Ronove acting as her head butler. During her fight with Virgilia, Beatrice proved capable of summoning giants that use shields of Hephaestus for protection. She also can summon two massive 100 metre tall \"Shoulder Towers\" with 360 ports each that fired spears of light. She also summoned the Aegis shield in combat as an absolute defense, which essentially defended against Virgilia's own Divine Spear Gungnir.\n\nShe owned a butterfly brooch which can guarantee true love, which she gave to Shannon after destroying the spirit mirror.\n\nAs the Game Master, Beatrice can use the Red Truth, Blue Truth and most likely Golden Truth.]\n\n[Relationships\nOverview\nUshiromiya Family and Ushiromiya Servants\n\nKinzo Ushiromiya (summoner, acquaintance)\nBattler Ushiromiya (rival, opponent, furniture/slave, ally, love interest/husband)\nAnge Ushiromiya (ally, opponent)\nMaria Ushiromiya (student, best friend)\nRosa Ushiromiya (enemy)\nShannon (ally, opponent, alternate persona)\nKanon (ally, opponent, alternate persona)\nMeta-World\n\nBernkastel (friend, enemy, opponent)\nLambdadelta (friend, witch guardian, miko of)\nStakes of Purgatory (furniture, creations)\nRonove (furniture, butler)\nGaap (friend)\nChiester Sisters Imperial Guard Corps (furniture)\nFlauros (furniture, creation, former enemy)\nVirgilia (mentor, predecessor)\nANGE-Beatrice (successor, opponent)\nEVA-Beatrice (successor, rival)\nErika Furudo (enemy, opponent, rival)\nChick Beato (half of split self, Beatrice who was born to love Battler)\nBeato the Elder (half of split self, Beatrice based on legend Kumasawa told)\nZepar (friend)\nFurfur (friend)\nSakutarou (friend)\nSpoilers\n\nBlack Battler (possible creation, opponent, rival)\nClair Vaux Bernardus (prototype, alternate persona)\nYasuda (true form/persona, human form/counterpart)\nLion Ushiromiya (alternate existence from Miracle Fragment)\nBattler Ushiromiya\nBeatrice opposes Battler's anti-magic stance and does whatever she can to make him submit and accept magic. Ange grew to be very close to her brother Battler despite only meeting him on her birthdays. At some point in time, she sneaked into her parents' room and found Kyrie's diary which details on how much she hated Asumu. On one of her birthdays, she and her family went to an amusement park where Battler won cheap hair ornaments from a crane game, a possession which she would treasure for the rest of her life.\n\nShe was also close to Maria, and would often play with her doll Sakutarou at every family conference. However, on the family conference of 1986, Ange was sick and so could not attend. That same year, the Rokkenjima Massacre occurred with only her aunt, Eva, surviving the incident. As a result, Eva became her foster parent. When Eva took her in her care, she welcomed Ange with open arms, telling her that she could count on her for anything, so that they would slowly become happy again. At first, they had a good start for a good relationship, but this would eventually all come down to nothing.\n\nThe short story The Witches' Tanabata shows that Ange made a wish for her family to come back. Bernkastel visited her and told her that she would grant Ange's wish if she denied Eva's offer of a loving relationship, convincing her that there was only room in Ange's heart for one mother, Kyrie, and she couldn't let Eva take her place. Because she was still a child, Ange believed Bernkastel and followed her instructions, purposely destroying her relationship with Eva, even until the latter's death.\n\nAs a teenager, she was enrolled at St. Lucia's. By the time she was already a teenager, it has already become common public knowledge that Eva would give all her assets to Ange by the time she dies. As a result, the public already started to believe in the Rudolf's family culprit theory, and thus she became a subject to bullying by her classmates, as her classmates believed that even though her brother and parents tried to take the gold for themselves, Ange would still inherit everything. It has also became public knowledge that she had a full-blooded relationship with Battler, and that they are not half-siblings. She has also learned all about the illegal and fraudulent businesses that her parents were involved in.\n\n\nAnge with her illusory cousin Maria\n\nBecause of this, she was a lonely teenager, and escaped her harsh reality by reading Maria's diary and creating imaginary friends. Through this, she was able to create an illusory version of Maria, Sakutarou and the Stakes of Purgatory. She also learned about Maria's life story before the Rokkenjima incident. She learned magic to become the Witch of Resurrection and learned how to summon the Stakes of Purgatory, although initially, she was only able to summon Mammon, who later on became her close friend. For a bit, her teenage years became a bit bright and happy and eventually was able to summon all seven sisters, who eventually became her Furniture.\n\nAt the same time, however, bullying became much more harsh, and one day, she asked her Furniture to kill her bullies, but they couldn't, and so one by one, they refused her order, and at the same time denied their existence, thus killing them. She also ended up killing Maria, Sakutarou and finally her best-friend, Mammon, who told her that in the end she is just a lonely person. It was not until that at the end of her graduation she would be able to summon them again. On Eva's deathbed, she finally asked her what happened on Rokkenjima, but ultimately, Eva refused to tell her, grabbed her hair and told her to ask her parents who are now in hell. She also hates being alone.\n\nAfter the events on Rokkenjima with Eva the only supposed survivor and the rest of her family dead, Ange's personality changed. Due to the hardship she had been put through from the loneliness she suffered and the pressure of being the next head, as well as being manipulated by Bernkastel into rejecting Eva as a surrogate mother, Ange lost her smile, developing her cold, calm, and cynical personality.\n\nAs a young woman, Ange can also be sarcastic at times and like her brother, she has a habit of saying, \"It's useless, it's all useless\" during difficult situations. Despite her cold and calm front, she would sometimes be emotional, especially during the EP 7 Tea Party when she broke down after Bernkastel shows her the truth of the Rokkenjima Massacre. It can also be noted that deep down, because of her grief, she became bitter and lonely, resulting in Ange wanting to find the truth. She thus tried to raise her as the successor in her son's place, but Ange was less receptive to her strict upbringing and unwilling to accept her as her new mother. This was further strained by Eva's constant comparisons of Ange to her deceased son. As a result of Ange's rejection of her and increasing pressure put on her by the public, Eva's relationship with Ange grew increasingly sour and resentful. By the time of Eva's death, their relationship had deteriorated beyond repair, and Eva's categorical refusal to tell Ange the truth about her family's death infuriated her further. She died cursing Ange, with her final action being to grant her the entirety of the Ushiromiya fortune and name in an attempt to lead her to the same fate she ended up in.\n\nIn the final two arcs, it is revealed that Eva had refused to tell the truth to Ange in an attempt to hide the fact that her parents had been responsible for the massacre. In both forms, Maria wears a small black crown on her head, which is tied with a red ribbon whose bow sits just under her chin.]\n\n[Maria is a child of elementary-school age (in the first episode, her mother confirms that she is \"nine and a fourth grader\"), though usually acts as though she is much younger. This often gets her in trouble with her mother and earns her a slap or two on the cheek. Normally she acts younger than her age but seen as cute by many. But when talking about witches, her personality changes and acts creepily. She also becomes defensive when someone rejects witches and magic which she believes to help her become happy. It is often affirmed and demonstrated that she is not capable of lying and that, even if what she says and thinks proves to be false, she continues to repeat the opposite only because she believes in it with all of her spirit. It is for this reason that she often argues with her cousin Battler over whether or not Beatrice is real and refuses to accept the idea that magic could not exist. In Requiem of the Golden Witch, Willard and Jessica theorize that the reason why Maria completely changes her tone of voice and behavior when speaking of magic and witches is to provoke everyone around her, rooted in her desire to be considered important and worthy of being heard by adults by boasting knowledge on a topic which is unknown to them.\n\nShe deeply loves her mother Rosa and even believes that the abusive and neglectful side of her mother is not her mother but a witch possessing her to do horrible things. She even went as far as to defend Rosa's actions in her diary and through Sakutarou's thoughts which in turns are her own thoughts when Rosa is not being a good mother.\n\nThere are even times when she stated she does not need anyone but just her mother.\n\nHowever, it is only after the visit of a social worker who claimed that Rosa had left her alone to go on vacation without her instead of working, and destroying Chiester 556 and Sakutaro that Maria starts losing all trust in her mother and begins to resent her abuse and her apparent negligence towards her. This is what ultimately drives her to revolt not only against her mother but also against her entire family in favor of Beatrice and the witches. However, she's well aware that part of her continues to desire Rosa's presence and love in her life.\n\nAt school she was bullied due to the fact that she takes low grades and prefers to play with her toys rather than with other children and, despite saying that she doesn't care as long as she has Sakutaro, she suffers a lot while hiding it, telling Ange that she is happy to be the one who is tormented rather than another child.\n\nInitially she was very close to her cousin Ange; she would have gladly taken Sakutaro and all the other toys and played with her cousin and even let her into the exclusive alliance of witches created by her and Beatrice. However, when Ange made fun of her one day because her mother had told her that Sakutaro was just a plush toy and not a real child like them and their classmates, Maria expelled her from her life and her magical world, even going so far as to write in her diary that she hated Ange as much as she hated Rosa after the latter destroyed Sakutaro.\n\nLater it is revealed that her reference to witches comes from the behavior of a person. For example, when Rosa gets violent, she is seen as the Black Witch by Maria. Once, however, her magic began to become much more obscure after she suffered so much pain, she created dark spells capable of making the bullies of her school sick or crashing the bus that carried them into a ravine.\n\nDespite being only an apprentice, Maria proves powerful enough to kill and torture her mother in the most bloody ways imaginable.\n\nIn Dawn of the Golden Witch, she proved able to stand up to Erika Furudo in a fight in which each used the Red Truth and Blue Truth's to determine who was right about the candy that appeared by magic and later fought Kanon, first by creating a series of fire balls to attack him and then trapping him in a mini space-time chamber after he murdered Rosa.\n\nThanks to the alliance pact with Beatrice, she is able to easily summon all The Seven Stakes of Purgatory together with her exclusive furniture such as Sakutaro and the Chiester Sisters.\n\nMaria was also able to enchant her grimoire to house a piece of her soul within. This is exemplified in Alliance of the Golden Witch where she takes Beatrice's side but tries to make Battler stand up and fight when he loses faith in himself. Lambda is arrogant, having declared herself the strongest witch in the universe at one point and claiming that she's had historical buildings erected in her honor after granting people's wishes.\n\nOn the other hand, Lambda isn't very diligent. She wants to have a mutual understanding with her since they've both suffered through logic errors in the past.[9] According to Whose Tea Party?, Bern used to be much different and started opening up when Lambda started playing with her.\n\nThe two witches often banter with each other through cruel yet lewd remarks. Bern sometimes loses control of her emotions, and so Lambda has to keep her calm.[10]\n\nBeatrice\nDuring the conversation about witch powers in the ??? of Legend of the Golden Witch, Bernkastel says Lambdadelta might have a good compatibility against Beatrice since she would be able to kill Beatrice's \"endless\" nature. It is later revealed that Lambda bestowed Beatrice with witch powers when the latter was a lowly human and now acts as her witch guardian. Lambda doesn't really see Beato as a friend however, and won't hesitate to get rid of her if she disappoints. This is exemplified in End of the Golden Witch where, after Beato surrenders and falls comatose, Lambda continuously mocks her by asking her to speak if she has any problems and acting ecstatic when she doesn't.\n\nBattler Ushiromiya\nLambda is an opponent to Battler by proxy of siding with Beatrice. Lambda prioritizes having fun and, despite her antagonizing Battler a lot, she will give him rousing speeches when he loses faith in himself and keep Beato's game going, as seen in Banquet of the Golden Witch and Alliance.\n\nIn End, Lambda becomes Battler's witch guardian when he uncovers the truth of Beato's game and names him the new Golden Witch. From this point forward, Lambda does a lot more to help Battler prove he truly understands Beatrice and mediates some of his games. She tries convincing Ange to become her piece instead of Bern's and stall the game for as long as possible, but it fails. Lambda considers Ange a failure after this and is not very interested in her development in later arcs, as seen in Requiem of the Golden Witch when she tells a distressed Ange to pipe down as the true events of the Rokkenjima Mass Murders are playing out. As such, she channeled her efforts towards developing herself as a person of status, accreditation, and capability, wanting to become someone she saw as worthy of the name, of value to Kinzo, and eventually the successor to the headship. She developed a rivalry with her older brother Krauss, the natural successor by way of birthright, who she often managed to outperform in school. Her efforts however were unacknowledged by Kinzo, who viewed a woman's role to be limited to the domestic sphere and as a support for her husband. To him, Eva's only purpose in the Ushiromiya family was to marry out of it to someone profitable to him. Krauss often echoed Kinzo's attitude, taunting her by reiterating their respective roles as men and women.\n\nWhile the discrimination she faced under Kinzo and Krauss led her to push herself harder in her efforts, she eventually came to accept that Kinzo would never see her, a woman, as a potential successor. As such, she decided to devote her efforts towards finding a man that could rival Krauss to take as her husband. When entering into her arranged marriage with Hideyoshi, Eva observed that Krauss' wife Natsuhi had failed to give Kinzo a child, and took advantage of Kinzo's dissatisfaction towards Natsuhi to convince him to allow Hideyoshi adopt the Ushiromiya name instead of have her lose it. To her delight, she bore a male child, George, while Natsuhi's child that followed was a girl, Jessica. Eva thus placed her dream on her son's shoulders, putting every effort in order to raise him as a worthy successor to the Ushiromiya family.\n\nAt the time of the 1986 family conference, Eva was the wife of a businessman who aided her husband at in the management of his popular fast-food chain company. However, as a result of a malicious buyout of the company's stock at the time of its entering public listing, she and Hideyoshi found themselves in financial trouble, needing a large amount of money to reach a settlement that would preserve their control of the company. They thus entered the family conference with the intention of extorting money out of Krauss. Eva also strongly disapproved of her son George's relationship with the servant Shannon, believing her to be an unsuitable wife for the next head due to her status, and wanted to pressure him into an arranged marriage of her own choosing instead.\n\nAt the end of Banquet of the Golden Witch, it is revealed that Eva was the sole returning survivor of the Rokkenjima Mass Murders. As such, she inherited the entire Ushiromiya family fortune and gained custody of Ange, Rudolf's daughter who was absent on the day of the conference. While police investigations found no evidence that could connect her to the crime, she faced widespread media scrutiny and was viewed as the culprit in the public eye. This pressure escalated as she began making many enemies in the business world by performing the same aggressive and underhanded tactics Hideyoshi's company had been hit with before. Her relationship with Ange also became increasingly strained, and she died in 1998 unable to trust a single person and despised by many of them.]\n\n[Eva is a middle-aged fair-skinned woman. She also wears two gloves, a long right one and a shorter left one, which reveals the One-Winged Eagle tattooed on her arm. She also wears a pink bracelet, white pants and black shoes. Eva carries a maroon hand fan with her, which she sometimes opens up.]\n\n[Eva is a hard-working woman who trying to holds her own in the male-dominated society of post-war Japan. She projects an attitude of confidence and self-assurance, though this can quickly change if she loses the upper hand in a discussion. Eva is also quite cunning and will pounce on opportunities as she sees them, a trait that helped her retain the Ushiromiya name after marriage by exploiting Kinzo's dissatisfaction towards Natsuhi.\n\nEva has a great amount of pride in the Ushiromiya family name and its history. She believes herself to be the ideal successor to the family headship, especially in comparison to her elder brother Krauss, who she views as an inferior and an unjust heir. Due to Kinzo's rejection of her efforts, she channeled her efforts towards raising her son George to be an ideal successor, hoping that he would one day wrest the headship from Krauss and his family. As a result, she assumed a great deal of personal control over George's life, signing him up for an array of supplemental lessons in academics and the arts and limiting his romantic involvements. Eva's pride in the family name also led her to develop an elitist attitude, which is shown when she looks down on Shannon's servant status and Maria's immaturity.\n\nEva's easygoing attitude in casual conversation belies her sharp tongue and sardonic manner. While she rarely resorts to open verbal abuse as an adult, she enjoys subtly demeaning or undermine those she dislikes or looks down upon. One example of this is during the welcome tea in Legend of the Golden Witch, where she notices Shannon is unaware of the brand of the tea and proceeds to pile increasing pressure on her to undermine their host Natsuhi. When questioned on her actions, Eva replies that she was merely imparting some knowledge to the servant. While Eva herself struggled with discrimination on the basis of her gender, she does not hesitate to level the same gender roles that were imposed against her on other women such as Natsuhi and Jessica, particularly when it allows her to elevate her own son George over them. Her hypocrisy can also be seen when she criticizes Natsuhi for pressuring her daughter to become the successor despite the fact that she does the same for her son[2].\n\n\nEva demonstrating her martial arts prowess in order to intimidate Natsuhi and prove that she can defend herself.\n\nWhile Eva publicly projects an air of confidence and strength, she has moments of sensitivity and vulnerability which she tends to only express in private with her husband Hideyoshi. It is during these periods that she can also be quite reflective and question her motivations for her actions. Despite Eva's lack of concern for the rest of her extended family, she sincerely cares about her husband Hideyoshi and her son George, and becomes frantic at the possibility that either of them may be in danger. Apart from her business pursuits and raising of George, Eva also expresses an interest in travelling and enjoys martial arts, the latter of which was disapproved of by Kinzo and Krauss for being traditionally masculine.\n\nAt the end of Banquet of the Golden Witch, it is revealed that Eva fell under great public scrutiny and criticism due to being the only survivor of the Rokkenjima Mass Murders. While she initially tried to develop a loving relationship with her adoptive daughter Ange, her foisting of her dream for George onto her, combined with immense public pressure and suspicion as well as Ange's rejection of her led to Eva gradually becoming more controlling and hostile towards her. Eva's enemies in the business world grew as a result of her opportunistic and sneaky tactics, leading her to become increasingly paranoid and unable trust anyone.]\n\n[Eva has experience with a wide variety of martial arts, including but not limited to Tai-chi, Karate, and Taekwondo. She has a high-degree of skill with kicks, and occasionally shows it off to intimidate her siblings. She also displays some proficiency when wielding Winchester Rifles, however they pale in comparison to Kinzo, Rudolf, Kyrie and Rosa.\n\nAccording to her husband, Eva is talented at cooking.\n]\n\n[Relationships:\n\nUshiromiya Family\n\nHideyoshi Ushiromiya (husband)\nGeorge Ushiromiya (son)\nKinzo Ushiromiya (father)\nKrauss Ushiromiya (older brother)\nRudolf Ushiromiya (younger brother)\nRosa Ushiromiya (younger sister)\nAnge Ushiromiya (niece, successor, adoptive daughter)\nOther\n\nEVA-Beatrice (vessel, original self of, witch counterpart/form)\nTetsurou Okonogi (business partner)\nJuuza Amakusa (former employer of)\nHideyoshi Ushiromiya\nHideyoshi and Eva are happily married and do not appear to face any significant issues in their relationship. The two met each other through an arranged marriage, and Hideyoshi, who had no close relatives, happily agreed to take on the Ushiromiya family name.\n\nEva supports her husband in his business enterprises, while Hideyoshi's pleasant and easygoing disposition allow him to complement Eva's interpersonal shortcomings. Hideyoshi often finds himself stepping in during Eva's verbal attacks against others, holding Eva in check and deescalating the tension. Being an outsider to the Ushiromiya family, he also lacks Eva's elitism and provides a more supportive counterbalance for George against Eva's control, though he falls short on pushing back on Eva's helicopter parenting. Hideyoshi is an important source of emotional support for Eva, and is effectively the only person she has shown herself to be willingly vulnerable around.\n\nGeorge Ushiromiya\nGeorge is Eva's only son and the only person besides Hideyoshi that she deeply cares for. Due to Kinzo's rejection of her aspirations for the headship, Eva decided to raise George with the intention of grooming him to be the next successor of the Ushiromiya family, effectively pushing her dream onto him. As a result, she gave George a strict and intense upbringing, sparing no expense at signing him up for private tutoring, arts classes, and martial arts training. Eva's overbearing control of her son's life resulted in him having little free time for leisure and personal development. Although George was already an adult by 1986, she still attempted to exert control over his life, disapproving of his relationship with the servant Shannon and pressuring him into an arranged marriage with a reputable woman of her own choosing: Ayumi.\n\nWhile George does not show it publicly, he feels a great deal of frustration over his mother's micromanagement of his life, and wants to break free of her control to become his own person. The two confront each other in Dawn of the Golden Witch, clashing over both his relationship with Shannon and Eva's control over his life in general. Despite their conflicts, George and Eva do love each other as family, and each is overcome with grief whenever the other is killed. In Legend of the Golden Witch and Banquet of the Golden Witch, Eva also expresses regret at her treatment of George, realizing that her overbearing control of his life was unjust and may have been the result of her trying to get back at Krauss.\n\nKinzo Ushiromiya\nEva deeply respects and idolizes her father Kinzo for his legendary turnaround of the Ushiromiya family fortune. This admiration led her to try and follow in his footsteps, developing herself in her schooling and personal qualities with the goal of becoming the next successor. Kinzo however did not approve of her efforts, believing that a woman's role should only be to support her husband and bring the family benefit through her marriage, and thus that she ought to dedicate herself to domestic skills instead.\n\nKrauss Ushiromiya\nEva and her brother Krauss spent their childhood in an intense sibling rivalry. Eva constantly outperformed Krauss in school and in their accomplishments, and believed herself to be a more suitable successor to the headship as a result. Krauss however would repeat the same gender essentialist sentiments that Kinzo did, reiterating that her ambitions were conceited for a woman and that the role of successor ought to naturally go to him, the firstborn son. Eva despised Krauss for his attitude and the injustice of her situation, and continued to push herself in order to outdo Krauss in any way she could. While their rivalry is less overt as adults, she views him as incompetent and continues to make verbal jabs towards Krauss over issues as minor as the family dinner.\n\nRosa Ushiromiya\nEva often bullied Rosa when the latter was young, primarily through verbal means such as lying to her[3]. She has little respect for her sister, viewing her as incapable and stupid. Her attitude towards her sister is carried over to adulthood, and is openly displayed when she calls Rosa a \"brainless idiot\" in Chapter 2 of Banquet of the Golden Witch. She also makes more covert attacks at Rosa by putting pressure on her during the family conference as well as by bringing up Maria's immaturity, condemning her as an unfit parent by extension. In Banquet of the Golden Witch, Eva tells Rosa that she is the sibling she trusts the most. Given the circumstances however, it is implied that this trust is merely because she sees Rosa as less crafty than her brothers.\n\nNatsuhi Ushiromiya\nEva has a poor opinion of Natsuhi and offer makes the her the target of her verbal attacks. She particularly dislikes it when Natsuhi asserts her authority or tries to command the situation, viewing her actions as shameless and a challenge to her superior family rank[4]. Her verbal attacks on Natsuhi include both open confrontation and her more sly subtle use of words to embarrass or undermine her. Despite being the target of gender discrimination in her childhood, she does not hesitate to turn those same remarks onto Natsuhi, reminding her that she is merely someone who married into the family and should not dare to challenge her.\n\nJessica Ushiromiya\nEva sees Jessica as a rival for George's claim to the future headship of the Ushiromiya family. Given this, she takes great delight in the fact that Jessica is both a woman, and thus less eligible by the Ushiromiya's patriarchal standards, as well as less studious and well-mannered than her son. Eva sometimes brings this up to Natsuhi in an attempt to elevate her own son and undermine her. In Turn of the Golden Witch, Eva showed solidarity with Jessica in the face on Krauss' criticism of her unladylike mannerisms and pointed out her learning of makeup to Natsuhi. While this measure pleased Jessica, it also embarrassed Natsuhi and Krauss, which may have been Eva's true goal.\n\nShannon\nEva is aware of Shannon and George's romantic interest in each other and strongly disapproves of their relationship, primarily due to the fact that Shannon's status as a servant of the Ushiromiya family would cause many complications for George if he were to become the future family head as she intended. It is unknown if she is aware that they are dating, but she tried to pre-empt that possibility by highlighting George's marriage meeting to Shannon and warning her that she is far less suitable in status and capability than her pick for George. She also sometimes picks on Shannon in an attempt to undermine Natsuhi's position as host for the family conference by suggesting that she had improperly prepared her servants for the job.\n\nInner Self\nEva's internal conflicts are explored in Banquet of the Golden Witch, where she is shown interacting with a younger version of herself. The young Eva would appear by her side in times where she struggled, offering her support and cursing her adversaries in her place. She held on to Eva's childhood dream of succeeding the headship and getting back at Krauss, and pushed Eva to solve the epitaph in order to become the family head. While Eva still valued her childhood goals, she also developed a love for her husband and son, one which her younger self did not share. This conflict escalates when Eva finds the gold and her younger self gains witch powers and the title of EVA Beatrice, and the two of them sharply disagree on whether they value the gold and headship or her family more while EVA Beatrice carries out the murders of the epitaph.\n\nAnge Ushiromiya\nAs the only survivor of the Rokkenjima Mass Murders, Eva gained custody of her niece Ange, who had been absent on the day of the 1986 family conference. She tried to accept Ange as her new daughter, but her intentions were muddled by her grief regarding the loss of her son George. The side story The Witches' Tanabata also revealed that Bernkastel played a role in Ange's rejection of Eva, by having her promise to never accept Eva as her new mother for the illusory possibility that that would allow her parents to one day return home.\n\nTetsurou Okonogi\nOkonogi was the president of a foodstuffs distribution company and had a close relationship with Hideyoshi's business. As such, he was one of the people that had Eva's trust, and was appointed by her to a high position in the Ushiromiya Group following her inheritance of the family fortune. He seems to also trust Eva very much in return, and made the case against her being the culprit of the mass murder incident in a discussion with Ange.]","contextConfig":{"prefix":"","suffix":"\n","tokenBudget":2048,"reservedTokens":0,"budgetPriority":400,"trimDirection":"trimBottom","insertionType":"newline","maximumTrimType":"sentence","insertionPosition":-1},"lastUpdatedAt":1629440205511,"displayName":"Character\\Eva","id":"afc2fc82-2f3f-49b4-bbeb-d28bec498325","keys":["Eva","Ushiromiya Family"],"searchRange":1000,"enabled":true,"forceActivation":false,"keyRelative":false,"nonStoryActivatable":false,"category":"673f810f-9168-431c-ae8f-332f7b96370a"},{"text":"[When Hideyoshi got married to Eva, he agreed to take on the Ushiromiya name while Eva struggled to gain Kinzo's approval. Rudolf is also a playboy who attracted and toyed with many women's feelings, thinking it fun to watch them fight over him.\n\nHowever, he is also shown to be similar to Battler when he was younger, as out of all the Ushiromiya siblings, he was the most energetic one and joked around. When he was younger and was told that there are wolves in the forest, he said that he wanted to pat them, causing Kinzo to change the story that there were witches instead; Rudolf became scared and clung to Krauss for a while.\n\nDespite always teasing Battler, he is also shown to care about him, and even gave Asumu's parents money to take care of him as well as take note of what is happening to Battler in school. However after Rudolf's death, she remained in her calm and usual self and saw it as an opportunity to start her life over. Being a child among her already adult siblings, she was an eyesore that her siblings could not comprehend. One day, Rudolf took her doll and ripped it to shreds, a mistake that she would also make to her daughter one day. Rosa spent her childhood surrounded by frequent physical abuse by Krauss, verbal and psychological abuse by Eva, and every form of bullying by Rudolf, ending with the constant terror that Rosa felt towards Kinzo.\n\nUminekonoNakuKoroniChiruEp41905.jpg\nAs a young adult, she had a lover who later on became Maria's father. When her lover was about to leave overseas hoping to make a career by signing a loan to finance his trip, he tells her that he will come back for her; she believed him for a while, and because of this she would show Maria a picture of him and her on the beach. However, he never returned, and Rosa was then forced to become a single parent for Maria; whenever she would ask her who her father was, Rosa would avoid the topic. Once, when Maria asked her where the picture she showed her was and drew a picture of it, she had a violent outburst, showing early signs to her mood swings. This ended up pushing Maria even further into the occult due to Maria thinking she never had a father and that she was a virgin baby, thanks also to the visit of a priest who told the story of the birth of Jesus in her nursery school. Rosa also had to start working very hard to raise all the money needed to pay off the debts derived from that loan in her last 9 years. \n\nDue to the numerous traumas suffered as a child in their hands, Rosa has also distanced herself considerably from all her siblings so much that, except for Krauss and his family when she takes Maria to Rokkenjima for the holidays, they and their families have the opportunity to see her and Maria only once a year because of the conference.\n\nAt some point, Rosa started her company Anti-Rosa. She takes a lot of work trips, resulting in Maria staying home alone to take care of herself. However, many of these trips are actually Rosa secretly going on small vacations to lavish locations with her supposed boyfriend. \n\nWith all this build up of stress, Rosa has since suffered from mood swings. Her casual attire is a blue vest over a white, long-sleeved shirt with matching blue pants. When she was a teen, she wore a checkered red-and-black skirt and wore her hair in ponytails. She wore a blue vest over a white, long-sleeved shirt.]\n\n[Since her absent lover abandoned her when she gave birth to Maria, she's had to raise her up by herself and work overtime in her company. She is seen as a calm and loving person who is also very quick-tempered and violent, especially towards her own daughter, whom she physically and verbally abuses on multiple occasions. Despite her very violent tendencies, she tends to regret her choices and feels bad about what she does, often apologizing to Maria by crying with her and accepting her daughter's imaginative interpretation that Rosa herself had been possessed by \"the Black Witch\". Rosa even goes so far as to define Maria as her only ally in the world. \n\nThroughout all the games, it's implicitly stated that the origin of her violent mood swings is not only due to the abandonment of her daughter's father but also from the cruel treatment that her parents, her brothers and sister reserved for her when she was still a kid and it is often shown more than once that Rosa has a veiled profound resentment and hatred for all of them.\n\nEven though the other siblings and their spouses find her to be very dumb, naive and an easy target because she's the youngest, she is shown to be rather intelligent and manipulative actually, as she is the only one besides Eva to solve the epitaph on her own and in the Turn of the Golden Witch she keeps separating the servants from the rest of the survivors, pretending to be concerned about them and pushing suspicion onto them; for this very reason, in this Episode she emerges as a dictatorial, resentful and vindictive figure, unable to trust others unless she is sure of earning something without taking any risks. Rosa's treatment of the servants can also be seen as a result of extreme paranoia, given that Rosa has experienced numerous betrayals of trust at the hands of her siblings at a young age and thus always expects the worst from people.\n\nAs demonstrated in the second and fourth games, Rosa is volatile and will lash out at others at the slightest doubt or provocation when she finds herself in a situation where she has power over other people in more disadvantaged positions than her own. This seems to echo what Eva always did to her. In these situations, she also subconsciously speaks in a venomous manner like her older siblings when she expresses her real thoughts towards her family and servants.\n\nHer ambiguous nature is further deepened so much that, even with her poor tolerance, her emotional frailties and her serious unsolved psychological problems, in her moments of tranquility Rosa is able to effectively project a very kind and calm aura of herself with which she is partially able to deceive most other of her relatives including Battler, who initially saw her as the most peaceful and mature of the family's parents.\n\nRosa is also greatly affected by her status as a single mother in an oppressive society like Japan, in which women like her are looked down upon, perceiving how everyone forces her to always and only put her daughter first at the expense of her own needs and desires. Because of this, she is very obsessed with her public image both as a woman and as a mother, so when she loses control and punishes Maria for one of her tantrums or neglects her, she tries to do it discreetly and so that no one suspects anything. \n\nHer daughter, neighbors and employees seem to believe that, like her brother Rudolf, she is very fickle in romantic relationships because she regularly starts relationships with many men and gets engaged only to soon break up with them. \n\nBecause of her very stressful and tiring lifestyle, a part of her started to dream of a life in which she is so rich that she doesn't even need to work, spending her time traveling and relaxing in hotels and spas and completely free from any responsibility.\n\nWhat nobody knows is that, apparently, the reason why Rosa is so determined to get her share and use it to repay her debt is because she hopes that by doing so Maria's father will come back to them only to give her the opportunity to meet him. However she also knows that it is very unlikely, if not almost impossible, that this scenario happens and her real goal is to put an end to one of her greatest regrets and to be able to give herself and her daughter a bright future. However, she is also, understandably, very resentful of her daughter's father and is prone to outbursts of anger when she is confronted unfavorably with him.\n\nIn the Twilight of the Golden Witch manga, a glimpse of Rosa's childhood is shown where she was very sensitive and empathetic. She suffered cruel abuse at the hands of her parents and siblings and had many dolls and stuffed animals as her only friends, explaining why she spoiled Maria by buying new toys to make her happy. If what Beatrice reveals in the second Tea Party is to be believed, Rosa as a child often wished to be an only child and found herself dreaming several times that very horrible things happened to Krauss, Eva and Rudolf, pointing out a further resemblance to Maria who does the same with her in order to deal with her abuses.\n\nSometimes, probably because of her lonely childhood spending by growing up in Rokkenjima without any friends, Rosa is very aware that she has never been able to become completely an adult mentally, as she often points out in the first Episodes.\n\nShe also feels immense shame when Maria behaves in a childish way, whether it's talking about magic and witches in public or treating her toys as a real living friends; this behavior makes Maria the object of bullying at school and reminds Rosa of her father Kinzo. It becomes worse when only the name of Beatrice becomes a source of debate and discussion due to the fact that it awakens traumatic memories buried in her psyche that have to do with the witch.\n\nIn any case, the beginning of the troubled relationship between her and her daughter is mainly due to her own constant feeling of hatred and self-loathing, combined with the feeling that her whole life is a failure due to her problems and regrets, which Rosa, unconsciously, seems to project them onto Maria (whose social problems and difficulties behaving like a normal child alienate her from the rest of the other children and make Rosa herself a target of her older siblings and Japanese mentally restricted society) because of their numerous similarities.\n\nRosa can be judged as a very resilient person because, although she often gives in to her darker emotions when she unleashes them on Maria, it is noteworthy that she took charge of raising Maria alone despite all the adversities that she has faced throughout her entire life. With the Ushiromiya family's many problems, Rosa wants to try to be a better mother and build a happy future with Maria]\n\n[Being a fashion designer, Rosa has a certain skill and competence in both drawing and sewing, considering that neither Maria nor Ange doubted that she was able to create Sakutarou. Also, according to Ange, Rosa herself has made a good part of the outfits she wears.\n\nOfficially she doesn't seem to specialize in a particular fighting style like Krauss and Eva or is as skilled and experienced as Rudolf and Kyrie with firearms. However, Rosa has proven not to be an opponent that should be underestimated. In fact, the source of her power is her unexpressed fury that emerges when Rosa believes she and her daughter Maria are in danger, an emotional state that in the Meta-World allowed her to kill several Goat Butlers using just a gold bar and a fountain pen; with a Winchester rifle, she is able to not only keep up with a witch of Erika's level, but even puts her in a difficult situation much more easily than both any other human being and witches in Twilight, including Battler.\n]\n\n[Relationships:\n\nUshiromiya Family\n\nKinzo Ushiromiya (father)\nKrauss Ushiromiya (oldest brother)\nEva Ushiromiya (older sister)\nRudolf Ushiromiya (older brother)\nBeatrice Ushiromiya (older paternal half-sister, friend)\nMaria Ushiromiya (daughter)\nGeorge Ushiromiya (nephew)\nJessica Ushiromiya (niece)\nBattler Ushiromiya (nephew)\nAnge Ushiromiya (niece)\nNatsuhi Ushiromiya (sister-in-law)\nHideyoshi Ushiromiya (brother-in-law)\nKyrie Ushiromiya (sister-in-law)\nLion Ushiromiya (half-brother/nephew)\nYasuda (half-sister/niece)\nOther\n\nSakutarou (creation of vessel, victim)\nChiester Sisters Imperial Guard Corps (enemies)\nChiester 556 (victim)\nBeatrice (enemy)\nEVA-Beatrice (older sister, enemy)\nMaria Ushiromiya\nMaria is most likely the only point of reference in Rosa's affections by being her only daughter and thus Rosa feels Maria is also the only person with whom she can vent the vast amounts of stress, anger and sadness that have always tormented her over her entire life. Although Rosa is very abusive when she is angry and also negligent towards her when she is tired, she feels both a lot of guilt and deep shame for it, deeming herself an incapable mother at times and consequently trying to make up for it by making promises with Maria she will eventually forget, or spoils her daughter by buying her numerous toys and candies. Despite her true feelings for her daughter being questioned multiple times, in the end it is shown that Rosa will do anything to safeguard both Maria's health and her future.\n\nKinzo Ushiromiya\nSince her birth Rosa has had a very neglected relationship with her father, as the few times Kinzo interacted with her was only to scold and punish her. Their relationship was further strained when, as revealed in Banquet of the Golden Witch, Rosa had witnessed the death of Beatrice as a child, whom Kinzo knew, and blamed herself for her death. Rosa trembled at the thought of what her father would do if he found out and her stress grew as an adult when Rosa directly challenged Kinzo's authority as the head of the family by choosing Maria's name by herself. This offended Kinzo so much that he has avoided any kind of contact with Maria since then.\n\nKrauss Ushiromiya\nKrauss is Rosa's oldest brother. The Turn of the Golden Witch Tea Party shows that when she was a child, Krauss would hit his younger sister and break her toys for seemingly no reason. As adults, Rosa is very resentful of Krauss because he refuses to help her financially by giving her her share of the family inheritance. During family conferences she is particularly targeted by her brother, which causes Rosa to quickly lose her temper.\n\nEva Ushiromiya\nEva is Rosa's older sister. When Rosa was a kid, Eva lied to her a lot, making fun of her because she thought that Rosa was stupid and even would get angry at her when Rosa tried to act the same way as her. The Turn of the Golden Witch Tea Party shows that Rosa often dreamed of biting Eva's tongue off when her sister would torment her, like when she celebrated her 9th birthday and Eva constantly teased her by telling her that she had no friends to invite and she would be all alone celebrating at her party.\n\nAs an adult, Rosa tries to maintain a polite attitude with her sister however she's often targeted and disrespected by Eva even when she does nothing wrong, which, as shown in the episodes, fuel the repressed hatred and contempt that Rosa feels for her. When given the chance, Rosa doesn't hesitate to use Eva's predicaments to her own advantage, shown in Banquet of the Golden Witch when they both solve the epitaph and Rosa blackmails Eva, promising to be silent about the discovery of the gold in exchange for guaranteeing she gets a legitimate share. This is also shown in Requiem of the Golden Witch's Tea Party, where, during the start of the Rokkenjima Mass Murders, Rosa refuses to cover for her sister and Hideyoshi when they accidentally kill Krauss and Natsuhi and insists that they be arrested.\n\nRudolf Ushiromiya\nCompared to Krauss and Eva, Rudolf seems to be the only sibling with whom Rosa has a peaceful relationship. However, as shown in the Turn of the Golden Witch Tea Party, as kids Rudolf would do the same things to Rosa that Krauss and Eva did. She also wears a blue Japanese school sailor uniform with white accents and a white ribbon.\n\nAfter solving the epitaph and becoming a witch, EVA's outfit changes to that of a short dark purple cloak with ruffles of a lighter complexion of purple, a black bowtie with a rose replacing where the knot is, a lolita-style dress the same dark purple color as the cloak, elbow length gloves and a black pillbox hat laced with white patterns and a rose on the right-side of the hat. She also holds onto the One-Winged Eagle staff everywhere she goes.\n\nIn Golden Fantasia, she has light blue eyes while in the anime adaptation, EVA-Beatrice has pink eyes, the same as Eva.]\n\n[Being the physical manifestation of Eva's childhood, the young EVA appears immediately as a very spoiled, capricious, envious, greedy and selfish brat who is careless of the needs and desires of others.\n\nAfter becoming the successor of Beatrice, EVA-Beatrice reveals herself as a sadistic and cruel witch, who enjoys torturing her victims by using her magic to resurrect them and kill them again. With her fervent imagination, she creates particularly bizarre and brutal deaths, as demonstrated with her taking great joy in repeatedly and horribly torturing Rosa in different ways with her new powers. In the beginning she does this to help Eva achieve her goals, but eventually became independent. She is very egocentric, narcissistic, and arrogant, and like her human counterpart, she very much loves to mock others, repeatedly taunting them by saying, Heso demo kande shinjaebā? (ヘソでも噛んで死んじゃえばぁ?, \"Why don't you just give up and die?\").\n\nShe also believes that she deserves effective Furniture, the titles of Endless and Golden Witch as well as the gold and headship of the Ushiromiya family. Like all witches, she can teleport and freeze time when she appears on the gameboard.\n\nEVA is also able to materialize Red Truth in the form of a sticky spider web that she can use to immobilize her victims or to lock them up in a bubble attached to the stick, so as to beat them senseless.\n\nIn Banquet, EVA displays the ability automatically deploy a magic barrier capable of protecting her from bullets, surprising Ronove who mentions that in comparison, Beatrice must manually create one to protect herself.\n]\n\n[Relationships:\n\nUshiromiya Family\n\nEva Ushiromiya (vessel of, original self, human form/counterpart)\nGeorge Ushiromiya (son, opponent, enemy, ally)\nBattler Ushiromiya (nephew, rival, opponent, ally)\nAnge Ushiromiya (niece, successor, enemy turned ally)\nMeta-World\n\nBeatrice (predecessor, rival, opponent, ally)\nLambdadelta (ally, witch guardian)\nBernkastel (master, enemy in Twilight of the Golden Witch)\nRonove (furniture, opponent)\nSeven Stakes of Purgatory (furniture)\nChiester Sisters Imperial Guard Corps (furniture)\nChiester 45\nChiester 410\nVirgilia (predecessor, opponent)\nErika Furudo (ally)\nSakutarou (enemy)\nOther\n\nKasumi Sumadera (ally)\nEva Ushiromiya\nAs Eva's younger self, EVA keeps encouraging her to solve the epitaph and become the head of the family. In Twilight of the Golden Witch, EVA speaks on behalf of Eva and shows that she truly cares for Ange, wanting to protect her from the truth of Rokkenjima.\n\nHer protectiveness towards Ange was also further demonstrated in Ougon Musou Kyoku Cross.
