"E-mail battle" is a system where you
can play against other people while passing e-mail battle data
between human players at a distance.
For convenience, it is
referred to as “e-mail”, but if it is an environment that
can exchange battle data, such as personal computer communication,
FTP, LAN, external storage media (eg floppy, MO, CD-R), you can also
play using other methods than email. Is possible.
• Number of opponents and number of parallel plays
* Up to
4 human players can participate in an email match at once (computer
players cannot participate). In addition, you can play up to 8 mail
battles in parallel at the same time by switching the current mail
battle group (* managed by slots).
When you start an e-mail match, the
participating human players decide in advance who will be in charge
of which side of the map. The youngest human player in the
participating camp will be the first player, who will set up and play
for the first time.
The camp order is “BLUE” is the
youngest, followed by “RED” → “GREEN” →
“YELLOW”. Some maps are limited to 2 to 3 participating
camps from the start. *

The procedure for the
e-mail battle is as follows.
1. The youngest player is the [File]> [Email Battle]> [New
Game] menu.
2. Eight slots for
registering e-mail battle groups are displayed. Initially, there is
only a “new” slot, since there is no email match yet.
Click on any slot to select it.
If you want to close the slot
screen, right-click in the slot screen.
3.
The [New E-mail Game] dialog is displayed. Here, as with normal play,
select the map data to be used in the email match, and finally click
the [Open] button.
4. The [Condition
setting] dialog is displayed. Unlike normal play, the dialog has a
[File name] input field. This is actually used as the data file name
when sending and receiving mail battle data, and it must be set.
Enter up to 8 alphanumeric characters for the file name.
[COMP],
which is a computer player, is not included in the player types that
can be selected for "Participation".
When you have
finished setting all conditions, click the [OK] button.
5.
The [Password Settings] dialog is displayed. The password is used to
manage the email match data. Enter up to 6 characters. If you check
[Save password] at this time, the password will be memorized, and you
can save the trouble of entering the password each time you open the
mail battle data.
Click the [OK] button when you have entered
the password.
6. The game starts in the
same way as in normal play. After completing all actions as the first
player, execute the [Command]> [End Turn] menu. Then, the report
dialog that the mail battle data has been created is displayed, so
click the [OK] button.
7. At this point,
the first player's operation on the game screen will be temporarily
terminated, so exit or minimize the “Big Strategy”
program and switch to the desktop screen.
8.
Double-click the shortcut of the “Large Strategy E-mail Battle
Data” folder created on the desktop when installing “Large
Strategy ‡Z”. The mail battle data set in [File Name] in the
[Condition Settings] dialog is saved.
[This e-mail match data
will be handed to the next young player in the camp order by e-mail
transmission, LAN, floppy storage, etc.]
1. The next player who received the e-mail match data drags and
copies the data file onto the shortcut of the “Large Strategy
e-mail match data” folder created on the desktop when
installing “Great Strategy ‡Z”.
2.
The next player executes the [File]> [Mail Battle]> [Load Game]
menu.
3. Eight slots for registering
e-mail battle groups are displayed. The next player clicks to select
the slot he wants to use.
If you want to close the slot screen,
right-click in the slot screen.
4. The
[Mail Battle Game Reading] dialog is displayed. The e-mail match data
copied in step 1 is displayed. Select it and click the [Open]
button.
5. The [Password Settings]
dialog is displayed. Enter the password you use within 6 half-width
characters and click the [OK] button.
6.
The e-mail match data is loaded and the “History” panel
is displayed on the left side of the game screen. This is a panel for
replaying the actions taken by the player in front of you within the
search range of the own side / alliance side on the action list and
battlefield map in the panel. See the History panel for
details.
Click the [-] button at the far right of the "History"
panel when you have finished viewing the action history.
7.
The game starts in the same way as in normal play. After completing
all actions, execute the [Command]> [End Turn] menu. Then, the
report dialog that the mail battle data has been created is
displayed, so click the [OK] button.
8.
At this point, the operation of the second player on the game screen
will be temporarily terminated, so exit or minimize the “Big
Strategy” program and switch to the desktop screen.
9.
Double-click the shortcut of the “Large Strategy E-mail Battle
Data” folder created on the desktop when installing “Large
Strategy ‡Z”. Inside, email battle data is stored.
[This
e-mail match data will be handed to the next player in the camp order
by e-mail, LAN, floppy storage, etc.]
Once the mail battle group slot has been
secured, the mail battle can be resumed by the following procedure
when mail battle data is received from another human player.
1.
Drag the received e-mail match data onto the shortcut in the “Large
Strategy e-mail match data” folder on the desktop. At this
time, you will be asked if you want to overwrite the mail match data
already in the folder, so select [Yes].
2.
Execute [File]> [Email Battle]> [Load Game] menu.
3.
The mail battle group slot is displayed. Click the slot used in the
mail battle data to select it.
In each slot, the “file
name” of the data used in that email match, the “map
name” being played, the “creation date”, “creation
time” when the email match data currently in hand is created,
The number of “turns” in the email match data at hand,
and the “in charge” camp in the email match data
currently in hand are displayed.
If you want to close the slot
screen, right-click in the slot screen.
4.
When the [Password Settings] dialog is displayed, enter the
registered password and click the [OK] button.
5.
The e-mail match data is loaded, and the “History” panel
is displayed on the left side of the game screen.
In the “History” panel that appears
when you load the email battle data, you can check the history of
actions taken by other side units within the search range of the own
side or alliance side.
At this time, the unit icons of other
factions will act on the battlefield map in conjunction with the
action list in the “History” panel.
•
Working with the History pane
A faction indicator at the top of
the History panel shows which faction is currently playing.
Below
that, there are buttons for “frame advance playback”,
“play”, “fast forward”, “pause”,
and “game start” in order from the left.
When the
“Start Game” button is executed, the display of the
“History” panel ends and the play of the camp starts.
However, if you click this button before playing the entire action
history, the played history will be cleared.
The action history
can also be replayed even if the player's mail battle data is opened
when the player's turn has not yet reached in the 3-4 country battle.
In this case, even if you click the “Start Game” button,
you cannot actually start the game because it is not your turn yet.

When you execute the [File]> [Mail Battle]>
[Delete Game] menu, a list of mail battle groups that you are
currently participating in will be displayed in slots.
Clicking
on a registered slot here will ask you to confirm that you want to
delete the email battle group. If you click the [Yes] button, the
slot will be blank and you will no longer be able to play in that
mail battle group. Please do this very carefully.
Sometimes you want to interrupt play in the
middle of a turn instead of ending the turn when you are in turn.
In
such a case, execute the [File]> [E-mail Battle]> [Suspend
Game] menu. E-mail battle data that you have played halfway will be
saved as your own saved data.
If you want to resume playing in
this state, please execute the [File]> [E-mail Battle]> [Resume
Game] menu. The dedicated saved data is loaded and the game is
resumed.
* Unlike normal play, you can't save regular games
during an email match. In addition, game data that has been saved
normally cannot be used for email matches.
