Drones & You - A Simple Intro Into A Complicated Thing Whenever, whoever and whyever you are - you are constantly being watched. CCTV cameras vigilantly looking at your hand reaching for your nutsack on a hot day, your own BigCorpoFaggotTech(TM) mobile phone sending megabytes of telemetry daily, and even your (((smart))) home appliances logging your activity, if you are retarded enough to own any. Yet, here we are going to talk abot something not so frequent, however still important enough to notice - drones. I don't care which side of the Ukraine war you are cheering for, you cannot deny the facts - this conflict has put the unmanned systems research, development and production on cocaine. Chinesium parts or whole drones are available within a reasonable price range now, as well as many open-source designs(especially FPV/racing drones) became known. So, in case you have a triple-digit IQ, you might think: "How do we counter it?" Answer is: as many things in life, it depends. But first, you gonna need to understand how a drone works, especially it's main purpose - an UNMANNED system, meaning there is no immediate danger for the operator(which is nor true at all). To start, let's take a hypothetical example referring to our context - there is an emergency in your local area, be it political unrest, armed conflict, natural disaster or whatever else, and you wish to stay or move around unnoticed. So you turn off your phone completely, put on some kind of camouflage or any clothes that will make you blend in with the environment, triple check your EDC kit or whatever you got in your shittly laptop bag(where my milsurp bros at?) and decide to go on whatever venture you deem rewarding. Then, you notice a monotonous buzz somewhere high up, and start looking around for the source of it. Here comes the first problem that we need to solve - detection. As you may know, many commercially available drones within an Average Joe price range have a relatively small size(ranging from an aluminum can to a shoebox), yet can fly high enough to stay unnoticable within audio and visual spectrum. Many also feature white/gray paintjob, which blens in fairly good with the sky with a small regard to weather conditions. Detecting these thing is a complex task, however practically achievable. Of course, the easiest way to go is to grab any optic you may have at your disposal, be it your (((smart)))phone or digital camera, mono/binoculars, or anything having one thing in common - zoom. However, the process is extremely long and exhausting, rendering such method only applicable to automated systems, which are mostly stationary and have either some form of machine vision pattern recognition technology, or a couple of pajeets looking relentlessly at their monitors, working 24/7. Second option you have is pretty similar to the first one - thermal oprics. Same shit, different wave spectrum. Still, both methods do require good weather conditions and line of sight to give satisfactory results. So, these two options are not yours to have. Third one makes use of the essential feature of the drone - remote control. Yep, finally you hear these words - RF detection. I know you had them at the very beginning of this article in your head. Not so fast, friend, there is a lot to consider here. First thing being relative to the thing I said before, which can be summed up in a few words - war boosts technological progress. Now you can see any kinds of drones flying on any kinds of RF bands, frequencies ranging from as low as 100MHz(yes, FM radio broadcast!) to as high as 6GHz. In order to detect not just a narrow series of drones, like DJI Mini/Mavic series, but virtually any drone that can be produced or bought (for now) is to cover all these frequencies with a reliable detection system. Most stuff on this if either classified or very well outside of the military budget of some third world shithole, however you can build your own within a reasonable price range. Sounds unreal, right? Well, see for yourself. Simplest way to build such a system is to tinker around with SDR(Software Defined Radio) dongles and various types of antennas. There are a lot of ways you can design your own, be it a bunch of diploes combined through an RF combiner or a spiral antenna rotating around every second - everything depends on your budget and circumstances. But usually, you can get everything you need fast and cheap from any marketplace or your local electronics store, only SDR dongle itself being an exception. So, let's say we got your detection covered. Continuing on an alternative timeline - you have detected the drone the moment you stepped outside. What's next? Gonna take a dive into the nearest bush or just accept your faith and let the Blackrock death squad take your foreskin? Second thing - counteraction. First option being jamming, obviously, but here things start to get pricey. Of course you may be making six figures and can spare a thousand or two on a bunch of Chinesium jamming modules and directional antennas, but you are not gonna casually(assuming you are a civillian) walk around with an anti-drone jammer gun with a size of a rocket launcher, will you? Thus, you gonna have to either compromise on the power and frequency range, or think of something else. Maybe you are lucky enough and the drone operatior is a dumbfuck who runs surveillance missions within an effective shotgun range. But that's not gonna happen all the time, or you may live in or travel through a cucked country without any reasonable access to buy/steal firearms. To sum this up - you can't. You just can't. Well, what to do it you presumable have been already compromised? Here's where the art of concealment comes in. Depending on your area, plan your route and move within the least observable areas. Remember - most drone operators are powered by instant noodles and energy drinks, meaning they are humans. They also have fatigue and pattern-recognizing brain. Human eye detects movement first of all things. So, you might want to take a look at some army concealment and recon literature, which I am not gonna mention specifically due to their abundance. If you can't find them - get filtered lmao. However, I am gonna give you some tips and tricks I have tested myself: - If you think you are being watched - stop any fast movements. Be like water - flow around and take your time depending on your situation. - Make use of shadows. Most digital cameras found on drones have a great zoom, yet they lack in exposure control, only the priciest ones like DJI high-end ones being the exception. Most makeshift FPV/hover drones don't have 4K cameras, 720p HD often being the case. So, if you move around in shadows and do not make any swishy stuff - most likely you will be able to slip unnoticed, especially if someone is not targeting you specifically. - Thermals can be countered by minimizing your heat signature, and the first thing you should do is to hide as much of your skin as possible. Also, thermals can't see through glass. If you don't know why - repeat your physics class. - In urban areas, buildings and corners are your best friends. Out in the country - any lush vegetation. No need for a PhD to understand why. When you figure out the detection and counteraction, you might want to play on the other team. Building your own drone can be beneficial, since it gives you capabilities you are trying so hard to negate. Makes sense, right? Again, the design will completely depend on your circumstances and application - if you want a surveillance drone, you might want to build something with a good range and flight time, combined with good optics or even thermals. If you like those videos of Russian BMPs getting fucked by a flying anti-tank grenade, you may consider more powerful motors and cheaper camera, while paying attention to the maximum payload size, speed and manueverability. Simply put - figure out what exactly do you want and proceed accordingly. Most components canbe bought at any electronics/hobby store and marketplaces. In conclusion, I wanna also emphasize the value of information while exercising everything above. The more you learn, the more is the chance you are going to either mitigade or pose a threat to your adversary, whoever it might be. Read more, lurk more, and start actually doing this shit if you wanna get better. Otherwise - death.
