At this stage of their lives, Jaggi are mostly pink, with purple foreclaws, back-stripe, and head-frills, and with cream-colored underbellies. Their tails are barbed along the length of the appendage, and they sport sizable frills like the Frilled Lizard sprouting from behind their jaws, for making themselves look bigger to other monsters. Though Jaggi and their kind display a higher functioning level of cooperation than other small monsters, Jaggi are often easily dealt with, even for novice Hunters. With the Great Jaggi being both the oldest and likely best fed of the Jaggi pack they are much larger than standard Jaggi, being usually both taller and longer than a horse, in comparison to their smaller counterparts who are closer in size to a wolf. The Great Jaggi's distinctive features, much like the standard Jaggi, are its frill and the lavender scales with the crimson and tangerine overrides on the frills and the abdomen part, but also the furs that grow on its neck and along the back down to the middle tip of the tail usually much larger than the smaller Male Jaggi. A Great Jaggi's muzzle is particularly thinner and much more wrinkly than the other raptor like Wyverns. While a Jaggi's tail has some barbs on each side, they are notably blunt and only used for its tail whip attacks.  Great Jaggi may attack other large monsters instead of focusing solely on a Hunter, indicating a highly competitive and intelligent demeanor. It can also call it's pack of Jaggi to its aid at any time with a loud, howler monkey-like roar. It has a ridge of erect hair aligned with its nose. Its back is made of a tough hide, somewhat characteristic of a carapace. Hair runs from its cheeks, connecting to its back, where it forms a trim along the sides of the back. The claws of an Arzuros have elongated, red nails. Each claw has a tough brace encasing and protecting the wrist and forearm. Arzuros has large, bulky legs connected to much smaller feet and a short, wide tail.  Arzuros are omnivorous creatures that enjoy feasting on fish and honey. When eating honey, Arzuros pays little to no attention to its surroundings. When threatened by other large monsters, Arzuros will try to use its size and claws to frighten the monster, or will use its agility to escape. Their claws are stubby, but effective, and their strong tails end in reinforced bony segments. Powerful jaws allow for moderately strong biting attacks. The majority of Ludroth are female, and form harems around the male Royal Ludroth, which has a notable sponge coating. Female Ludroths also have a sponge like material growing on them, which is the yellow-brown stripes along the top of their spines (behind the head). It is unclear whether the sponges are part of a co-evolved symbiotic relationship or the result of some unknown trait. Ludroth are capable of producing globules of mucus that they can spit at enemies to debilitate them. Ludroth are amphibious, and should not be underestimated on land. However, Ludroth are far harder to hit underwater as they have far more range and a wider variety of methods of attack. They are capable of using their almost serpentine forms to slither and pounce on Hunters and prey alike. They emit a barking noise when threatened, and although dangerous on land, are doubly so when confronted underwater. As the alpha male, Royal Ludroth will usually roam around with a harem of females in tow. Royal Ludroth are naturally aggressive carnivorous Leviathans, and will lash out at anything that threatens them or their harem.  Royal Ludroth have crown-like crests composed of several finger-like appendages tipped with black spikes as well as large, spongy yellow manes. Royal Ludroth have long, serpentine body with four squat limbs. A Royal Ludroth’s hind pair of legs are shaped like paddles for swimming, and its foremost pair are more muscular, tipped with developed digits ending in long black claws. A Royal Ludroth’s jaws are lined with shear-like plates in the place of teeth. Using its large, absorbent mane, Royal Ludroth can take on gallons of water for use in their many water-based defences. Royal Ludroth can produce mucus-based globules that can be spewed at foes to stun and debilitate, and can force water out of the mane at high speeds, blasting back nearby enemies. Qurupeco are mainly lime green with some scales being tinted yellow, it also has a clump of iridescent purple feathers on its back between its shoulders, though this colouration varies based on region. Qurupeco have a short, stubby brown crest extending from the back of their heads. A Qurupeco's soft crest can stretch over the top of its head and when calling opening out into the shape of a megaphone, amplifying its calls. A Qurupeco’s most notable feature however is its bright red vocal sac which inflates when calling. Qurupeco also have a pair of thick, bulky growths on their wings which produce sparks when struck against each other, much like flints. Qurupeco use this to ignite their mucus when spat, causing fiery explosions. A Qurupeco’s tail is shaped like a fan and can unfold revealing brightly colored skin, most likely as a warning for any would-be attacker. Plesioth have webbed feet and a paddle-like tail, and are covered in shiny, fish-like scales. A Plesioth’s mouth is filled with shark-like teeth, and their eyes glow a bright yellow. A Plesioth’s head and back feature large fins which can fold in and out at will. Plesioth can fire highly pressurized jets of water at foes, and can use their massive size and weight to crush and batter attackers. Plesioth are highly adept at swimming and are both agile and deadly in the water.  Plesioth are ambush predators, adapted to stalking prey from the water and attacking by surprise. Rathians are the females of the same species as Rathalos.  They are very similar in looks to their male counterpart, Rathalos. The Rathian and Rathalos both share a diverse carnivorous diet.  Rathians are very territorial, choosing to patrol from ground while their Rathalos mate patrols from the sky. They will become very aggressive to potential threats, especially when in close proximity to their nest and young. Rathian and Rathalos will always go after creatures that threaten their eggs first. A Rathian's hide is a dull, muted green in contrast to the Rathalos's deep red, and a Rathian’s lower mandible features a long, protruding chin spike not present on Rathalos. A Rathian’s upper back and wingtips are covered in a moss-like fur not seen on Rathalos, and a Rathian’s clubbed tail lacks bony spikes, they make up for this with the presence of sharp and highly poisonous needles, which a Rathian can use to poison foes upon contact.  Rathians, like their male counterparts, can generate flaming projectiles from their mouths. Rathians are notably more proficient in the use of this weapon however, as they are commonly seen releasing multiple blasts at once. In addition, Rathians are capable of charging up and releasing a more potent fire blast which can ignite a swath of ground in front of them. Rathians can use the poisonous barbs on their tail clubs to inflict blunt-force and toxic wounds on foes, even if a Rathian’s tail is cut off. Their outer shells feature much brighter and more vibrant colors than that of their female counterpart, the Rathian. Rathalos are primarily bright red, with black markings throughout, though they very rarely are born with blue and black coloration that persists into maturity. Like the Rathian, Rathalos possess a flame sac which they use to produce deadly flaming projectiles from their mouths. The talons on a Rathalos’s feet are highly poisonous and are known to inflict toxic mortal wounds on larger prey and Hunters alike. In addition, their long, thick tails feature a heavy spiked club at the end. A Rathalos’s wing membranes feature ornate patterns which are used to attract potential mates.  Rathalos are expert flyers, and as such are prone to hunting from the skies. By launching a surprise aerial attack, a Rathalos can inflict poisonous wounds with their talons or burn prey with flaming projectiles. On the ground, Rathalos remain formidable opponents. Using their powerful legs, Rathalos can chase down prey from a distance or inflict blunt-force damage with their clubbed tails. At a close enough range, Rathalos are known to use their sharp teeth to bite at foes as well. Some Rathalos are capable of staying in the air and launching a number of fireballs before landing back to the ground.  Rathalos are highly territorial monsters, and as such, are aggressive towards intruders. Rathalos will chase away or attempt to kill any monster which may pose a threat to their land. While hunting, Rathalos will stalk prey from the air before swooping in for the kill often having a Rathian stalking the monster from the ground working in tandem. Feared by sailors as the \"Lords of the Seas\" Lagiacrus exist at the top of the aquatic food chain. Lagiacrus sport long snake-like bodies that are covered with crocodile-like scales with four crocodile-like limbs each ending in a paddle like set of clawed feet in addition to a equally paddle like tail.  When a Lagiacrus is fully sunbathed, it’s scales turn a dry grayish-blue color and it’s dermal spikes turn brown. When the Lagiacrus returns to the water, it regains a striking deep blue color and its spikes return to their original light beige. Lagiacrus store enough electricity in their spinal organs to make the oceans surge. A Gobul’s body is covered in purple scales, and a bright, bioluminescent lure that dangles from their foreheads. Gobul possess a gargantuan mouth filled with equally formidable teeth. Gobul’s backs feature an array of retractable spines, and their tails are tipped with quills which are capable of inflicting paralysis if touched. A Gobul's massive mouth and throat mean that they can swallow prey almost as large as themselves completely whole. A Gobul’s lure can violently emit blinding flashes of light to disorient prey to make for an easy meal. When enraged, a Gobul is capable of puffing out its body like a balloon to appear more imposing. Gobul can use the plant-like whiskers on their chins and natural camouflage abilities to blend into the river floor and remain undetected by prey. Gobul are often relatively passive until attacked. Gobul spends most of their time lying under the river bed, exposing only their whiskers, to disguise themselves as a common plant and ambush aquatic herbivores attracted by their plant-like whiskers. The Barioth’s forelegs are longer and more powerful than their back legs, with deadly spikes along their wings, as well as three large claws. Barroths are noted for the large crown structure atop their skull, which houses the Barroth’s nostrils. A Barroth’s body is covered in rigid plates that help protect the monster from the harsh desert environments they inhabit. Barroths possess a pair of small red eyes and a mouth filled with numerous long, peg-shaped teeth. Barroths are capable of using their heavy head and crest as a plow to smash through the environment, as well as cause damage to any living thing caught in the Barroth’s way. Because the Barroth’s nostrils are located on top of its head, Barroth can almost completely submerge itself in the cool mud during the scorching desert days though when the Barroth emerges this mud hardens in the sun into a thick crust around them making it difficult for other monsters and Hunters alike to attack them. Although docile by default, Barroths become extremely territorial when disturbed. Barroths will release an initial warning roar. Unlike other Brute Wyverns, Brachydios sport a pair of long, highly developed forelimbs that they use as their primary means of defense. A Brachydios's forelimbs and horn seem to secrete a mysterious slime. Brachydios \"primes\" this mucus to explode with its saliva, hence why it licks its arms before attacking, making the mucus appear brighter green. Despite initial appearances, Brachydios do possess claws on their forearms that are tucked away underneath, and serve no apparent purpose in battle. By slamming the ground or prey with their fists or horn, Brachydios can deposit a puddle of its slime, which, once detached from the Brachydios's body, quickly undergoes a powerful chemical reaction and violently explodes. The substance itself is also sticky; if a Hunter is struck directly by one of Brachydios's fist or horn attacks, the mucus will adhere to the Hunter's body and eventually explode. The slime can be removed, though it is difficult to do so. Notably, Brachydios are also capable of leaping far distances by using their powerful hind legs and are much more agile than other Brute Wyverns. When enraged, a Brachydios's fists, horn, and various ridges along their body glow a bright yellow and orange. Ceadeus are so exceedingly rare that, like the Jhen Moran, the Ceadeus is widely believed to only be an ancient legend. Ceadeus are over 78 meters long on average, dwarfing most other aquatic monsters.  Ceadeus have faces similar to a Dunkleosteus. Ceadeus are classified as Elder Dragons due to their extreme power threat level and apparent scarcity. Ceadeus have a prominent beard of fur and two massive horns, which constantly grow and will eventually overtake the creature’s eyes if left unchecked, leaving it blind. Luminous organs line a Ceadeus underside as well as the top of their mouths, which turn from blue to red when the Ceadeus is enraged. With their massive size and strength Ceadeus are strong enough to cause rubble to fall from mountain sides when struck, smash open large walls, and even cause earthquakes by ramming their horns against the walls of the caverns they inhabit. Their most noteworthy feature is a pair of massive, solid bull-like horns above their red eyes. Diablos also possess a pair of tusk-like fangs and a large, spiny neck frill. Their tail ends with a heavy, studded club that can be used to ward off attackers. Diablos stand on a pair of stocky, wide-set legs and possess a broad upper body complete with thick, muscular wings. Female Diablos armor turns black alongside becoming more ferocious during mating season, the males then do battle with them for a chance to mate. Diablos have the ability to burrow into the earth and travel underground, employing this tactic to surprise unsuspecting targets or slip away from a dangerous encounter. In addition, they are capable of producing a powerful roar that will stun most aggressors. Using their powerful legs in tandem with their heavy upper body and head, Diablos can run at high speeds to charge attackers with their horns, using the powerful momentum to maximize the potential for damage.  Diablos are ambush Hunters that usually live in dens under the sand detecting the vibrations of their prey above before bursting out of the ground attempting to skewer it's prey on its large horns. Diablos are wildly aggressive and extremely territorial, and will pursue anything which enters their territory. Diablos are known to use their horns as weapons against attackers, but will also use them in bouts against other Diablos in battles for territory or mating rights. Diablos typically avoid flight for the purpose of transportation, as a disproportionally high mass prevents them from effectively flying for long periods of time. A Duramboros's most distinctive features include their massive tail club, twin brow horns, and a pair of energy-rich dorsal humps. A Duramboros's slow lifestyle often results in a layer of moss and algae growing upon their hide, most noticeably along the back. Duramboros are herbivores, subsisting primarily on fallen tree trunks. Using their ram-like pair of horns, as well as their hammer-like tail clubs, Duramboros  are known to push or knock down weak or dead trees in order to comfortably feed on them. Though generally docile, Duramboros have a capacity for aggression if provoked. They are known to use their tail clubs, horns, and overall mass to attack foes. This electric charge can be lost if the Zinogre is wounded severely enough; if this occurs the Zinogre becomes much less aggressive as a result, at least until it can build up more electricity. Gigginox are notably much more agile than Khezu, being able to flip around without difficulty, and being much faster, due to their flat body, and their ability to sense body-heat rather than smelling. While Khezu primarily use their developed hind legs to leap around or cling onto cave ceilings, Gigginox use all four limbs plus their tail to propel itself, suggesting that the Gigginox's limbs aren't as well developed as the Khezu's. Similar to Khezu however, Gigginox have elastic necks and tails, which can stretch out to twice their length in an attempt to attack Hunters or prey. A Gigginox’s top skin is grey-white, and their under-skin is dark red. When enraged, the top color of a Gigginox will change to a darker grey and almost black hue and becomes pulled taut against their bodies and far more resilient to attacks. The scales at the end of the tail can also be shaken to produce rattling sounds similar to that of a rattlesnake. Nargacuga have the ability to attack with almost every part of their body, they mainly attack with their bladed wings and spiked tails. A Nargacuga's head can be used for biting, but similar to Tigrex this is not their first choice in a battle. Their bladed wings are used for most battles and are very dangerous against even the most seasoned Hunter due to these monsters' extreme speed. Their tail tip, which can be cut with great difficulty, is extremely dangerous. When enraged, the Nargacuga's tail spikes will protrude until the monster calms. Nargacuga also have extremely strong leg muscles that let them jump long distances and tall heights at high speed. Nargacuga are careful, cautious and stealthy monsters. It is very easy for a Nargacuga to sneak up on a Hunter. Its body is filled with a magma-like substance which pools at the base of the tail, the chest, and at each shoulder. Each of these pools directs magma flow to certain parts of the body. On its back are a pair of wing-like appendages. Seemingly useless in terms of flight, these \"wings\" feature cannon-like chutes which can extrude globules of magma, both as a means of defense and as a way to jettison excess magma. Dire Miralis's head features a frill-like structure and an upturned snout. Similar to that of Fatalis and its relatives, Dire Miralis is very aggressive and territorial. It relentlessly attacks Hunters by using its magma filled wing-plates and summoning meteors from the sky. This monster is only known to be encountered in the Tainted Sea.
