Handcuffs?

Postby ParanoiaDoesBondage » Fri Dec 28, 2012 8:33 am

Didn't see a topic devoted for those, so here it goes. Do you use them or not and why's that, plus other thoughts.

I'm myself looking forward to getting a new pair of real police cuffs, and was wondering whenever anyone has any recommendations - I already know that cheaps brands (e.g. Alcyon, no-name 15€ cuffs) are to be avoided.. but anything else one should know? (e.g best places to buy, tips and tricks, etc)..

EDIT: Thanks for suggestions. Good ones :D Heh. As of double lock, I vote for the push-button double lock - common Hiatts/S&W do not seem to have that for a strange reason, which is kinda strange - it is much faster to double lock the cuffs with a pushbutton, and it gives some creative freedom within self-bondage..

If you are 18 or over certain porn shops will sell such items. Otherwise you can find good ones at stores that also sell military gear... or at least you used to be able to.

I have been looking into this a bit recently, and from what I can tell, it is best to go straight to finding military or police grade ones, these should not misshape or brake if too much force is applied, but also their locks should be reliable. Also another thing to conciser is if you want standard handcuffs with chain links, or solid ones.

Also just to point out I was also directed to leather cuffs quite a bit, where I could buy some small chains or use rope to make them into more confterable handcuffs that will be able to take more force without leaving anywhere as bad as a mark on the skin. This also would give the option to use them in other ways to bind a single limb in more ways, or with longer distance between them.

As an individual who uses them daily In a professional capacity, DO NOT but the fake / cheap / novelty stuff. You can easily order "real" hand and leg cuffs. Stick with your major brands like Peerless, Smith & Wesson, ASP, Safari land, etc...

These are built to withstand daily law enforcement use and will more than last for the weekend bondage enthusiast. You can order at:

PoliceHQ.com
Actiongear.com
Galls.com

They will usually sell to anyone without restriction. Do a little shopping around for the best price, but don't buy the non-name brands as they are far more prone to lock / double lock mechanism failure and jamming. The "real" stuff will give you decades of fun with no problems.

These work well for me. And they come in an Amazon box so it won't be obvious.

That's right named brands are the go. Look out for the slightly more expensive ones that have specific or unusual keys, as a lot of people these days either have the standard key for the standard cuffs, or can even pick the standard variety (harder when they are double locked mind). I met a girl in a bar once who was wearing a standard cuff key on a necklace (I instantly knew she was 'game' for TUGs by this). I took her home and got her out of her clothes and into my cuffs without much effort, but you should've seen the look on her face later when she cooly tried and failed to unlock her wrists from my bed headboard with her own key. Priceless.

I've got a sturdy pair of police-grade double locking ones. I'm not a massive fan of steel bondage, but handcuffs are just so useful and pretty much a staple to have for tie ups. The double locking ones are especially good for self bondage since they won't slip tighter once double locked.

Yeah, I've got a pair that lock when a small button is pressed in but to unlock them the key has to be rotated in the opposite direction. Adds an extra bit of finesse to escaping.

Or I could just learn to pick them.. I already found a cutaway picture from one of the cuffs I mentioned, and the mechanism looks quite simple to pick, even with a bobby pin ;) I'd much rather try real high security cuffs though with real lockpicks, but money is money and I don't have an infinite amount of it :(

and besides, there's nothing else of use to pick here in Finland, with nearly all locks here being Abloy locks, impossible to pick with standard tools

Handcuffs are surprisingly easy to pick, even with something like a bobby pin or paperclip. It takes a bit of skill to do and double locking makes it harder, but there are a bunch of tutorials easily found on Youtube. I can only seem to do it when my hands are locked in front of me though, trying to do it behind is really hard.

Here's a nice pair from Adam4Adam for $80.00 that use a hex key to lock. Once the pin is all the way in there is no way out without the key, and even if you have it escape is extraordinarily difficult.

You don't need to fork out $80 for a swish pair of cuffs if you want to keep your prisoner restrained. You can use el-cheapo cuffs, or even tie them with 20c worth of twine as long as you tape their thumbs to their index fingers. Without an opposable thumb a person has as much chance of picking a lock, untying a knot, or even using a handcuff key (no mouths allowed, so hands behind back please) as any one of our four legged hairy animal friends.

If you really want someone to be uncomfortable, snap on a pair of thumbcuffs. Very unforgiving. Any amount of struggling is going to hurt. For anything longer than about 2 minutes, tape is a lot less nasty.

And PDB, there's no way you are going to jam/break a pair of proper Police issue cuffs, you can struggle and sweat and tug incessantly til the cows come home. Of course if you've purchased a lesser quality item....

If you want secure handcuffs, get the kind with a hinge rather than a connecting chain. (See for example http://www.savelives.com/media/images/350133_full.jpg.) If you apply them with the keyholes facing up, your captive will not be able to unlock them even with the key. Needless to say, if you're using them for self-bondage, don't make the mistake of locking them on yourself in that direction!
