Thoughts on long-term bondage/sensory deprivation

Let me start off by saying that I'm aware that heavy bondage is not everyone's cup of tea. I myself have never been very keen on whips, chains, or anything that might make the bondage experience uncomfortable or painful. That being said, I've recently developed a bit of a curiosity for long-term confinement, specifically leather encasement and sleep sacs.
Something to this effect: http://www.biggerbids.com//members/imag ... C-0899.jpg

To be fully bound, gagged, blindfolded, then have your ears plugged (or blasted with white noise from headphones), and finally encased in a leather prison seems a bit scary, and I assume that it would be. Nonetheless, there's something about it that attracts me. I'd even go so far as to say it's one of my fantasies. Sensory deprivation in it of itself is an extreme experience. Couple that with time and weird things start happening. You begin to lose all track of time passage, your mind begins to drift, and after a few hours hallucinations can occur (as has been explained to me by the internet).

Still, there seems to be a certain therapeutic element associated with it. As you lose all sense of bearing and reality, all you can do is soak in you predicament and your cares begin to melt away. It's almost as if when you are completely immobilized, in that moment, you are the most free. I'm not sure that I would ever actually try long-term bondage, out of fear that something might go wrong (only being able to breath through one nostril does not create the ideal situation for gagging), but until the opportunity arises I am aloud to dream.

Anyway, that's my two cents of rambling on the subject. What are you guys' thoughts? Would you ever be open to the idea of trying it? Would you rather be on the other end observing/tormenting? Lend me your musings!
There is only one God, and his name is Death. And there is only one thing we say to Death: Not today.

It's definitely not for me, but it's a fairly common urge. There are actually sensory deprivation tanks that are open to the public (you'll have to look it up to see where, I forget). They don't involve bondage, but rather being partially submerged in water, where your ears are below but your eyes, nose and mouth are above the water. People use these tanks for relaxation or self exploration, or other reasons I am forgetting. Again, not my thing, just remember seeing a video on it.
