Part 1 -
There were six of us involved -
Boys -
Me (obviously)
Henry, 12, sporty
David, 12, clever and techie
Girls -
Holly, 12, beautiful and girly
Nina, 12, shy and nervous
Ellen, 11, sporty and feisty
The origin of the contest was in a comment Henry made to Ellen while they were having a tennis match. The other four of us were watching.
Holly and David were cheering on the players of their respective genders, but me and Nina were quite impartial.
Then Henry said to Ellen, "Give up, girls can't play sports, they're too weak!"
This provoked outrage from the girls, and Ellen stormed over to Henry.
I acted quickly, holding Ellen's arms and getting between them. "Hold it! It was just a comment, no-one needs to be hurt. Calm down."
Ellen looked at me. "You're a boy, of course you'd agree with him."
"Hey! I never said I agreed, I'm telling BOTH of you to stop."
By now the others had walked over.
Ellen smiled. "Fine, Jon, I won't attack him..."
I sighed in relief. "Thank you."
Ellen's smile widened. "...if you agree to a challenge."
I winced. "That depends. What is the challenge?"
"We can settle this fairly. You three boys versus us three girls. We can see who fights the best."
I rolled my eyes. "You see, that's exactly the opposite of what I want."
But Henry smiled. "I'm in. You girls are going down."
"Hold up!" I said. "Why are we fighting over this, this is ridiculous."
Holly teased me with a smile, her hand on her hip. "You scared of us, Jon? You scared of me?"
"No, it's just that-"
"I think you are." Holly walked slowly up to me, and leant close to my face. "I think you're scared that I'll beat you and make you my servant...."
I held up my hands. "Just stop!"
Holly pouted. "I was just teasing..."
I sighed. "I know, Holly, but can't you all just stop this? It was a misplaced comment."
Ellen hesitated. "Ok, I'll withdra the challenge. If he apologises."
"Ok, now Henry, apologise."
"No."
"Good, that's- wait, what?" I stared at him.
"I was right, girls are weak. It's a fact, not a "misplaced comment"."
Ellen growled. "That's it, you're going down!"
"Stop! Please!" I pleaded.
Nina, although she didn't say anything, walked up to stand next to me to show she supported my point.
Holly shook her head. "Too late, sweetie. I'm sorry, but we are out for blood. Don't fight us if you want, but if you boys lose you're still subject to our...torture....afterwards."
I gulped. "Torture?"
Holly giggled. "Us girls may be "weak" but we certainly can be creative, especially when boys are involved."
I sighed. "Here we go..."
The two groups rushed towards each other.
