The scouting story - part 2 posted

Hello everybody, I’m glorfindel2
I have been a member before under the name glorfindel, i doubt anyone would remember me (and if you do you have a very good memory). But I have written a few stories earlier, if you’re interested here they are (if not, carry on to the story itself)

First tug:

failed cousin kidnapping:

my memory is pretty bad, so the event are nothing more than some vague flashbacks (backed up by some photo’s made at the time).
To make the story readable some dialogues and small occurrences are made up.
But let’s begin:

It is the summer of 2007, I am a young boy of 11 who just is underway to his first real scouting camp. When we first arrived we were divided in 4 groups, each with its own task for the day. My group consisted of Peter, Sophia and 3 other boys and girls I didn’t really had much interaction with.
Peter was a boy of around my age and length with blonde hair who had a serious passion for trees, but he didn’t join our ‘little games’. But I knew him before the camp so he was a nice conversation partner (I shared the same interest for biology).
Sophia was a girl who was a few years young than me with light brown hair, and she did join the games as one of the main participants.
After unpacking and preparing my sleeping place (I really hate that air mattress) I went outside only to see one of our camp leaders in ropes! Well she wasn’t really tied up, a rope was tied around her waist and two ropes going over her shoulders but still. This would be the first indication of what was yet to come. A few scouts were clearly having fun there, while the rest didn’t really care or didn’t show they did. I was just silently watching without saying a word (I’ve never been a very social person) before turning to talk to Peter.
Not very long after the camp leader announced it was time to have dinner. After dinner it was the turn of my group to wash the dishes. This is when I first met Sophia, she was a very nice girl and I liked her in an instant. We talked a bit about ourselves and the camp so far, in which I courageously asked: ”have you seen one leaders tied up?” Sophia did hesitate for a second before responding: “yes I’ve seen it, it was pretty funny to watch”
the camp leaders had planned a moment for the scouts to enjoy themselves and explore the surrounding forests, only a moment after we left of it had begun to rain. It was heavy enough to make everyone come dripping inside.
To make sure no one was bored, a game evening was thought up and after that everyone went to bed, including me.

But the next morning I woke up with an unexpected feeling I never could have guessed…

Well I hope you like it, next part will be up somewhere next week (I am very busy currently, so I don’t know exactly when it will be up). But there will be some tie-ups that this part is lacking.

Sorry it took so long, I had less time to write then I thought, but here it is:

When I woke up I felt a sore back – my air mattress was leaking, meaning that it was probably empty for half of the night or so. When I informed the camp leaders after breakfast they went to search for the hole in my mattress, but they weren’t able to find any, meaning that I could just throw it away and sleep on the floor.
Great, this couldn’t start any better…
It was decided that we were going to play some games to get to know each other a little bit better since this was the first official day of the camp. The group was divided in 2 groups competing against each other. The name of the first game I have forgotten, but it was basically this:
Two teams each stand on a plastic mat and have to be the first to cross the finish line, so you had to jump along with your team while someone in front pulled the mat a little bit forward. If you didn’t jump in time you fell and your team had to start all over. This made for some funny and often frustrating moments. My team had lost the first round, but immediately demanded a rematch which we won.
This meant that the third round was decisive for this game. Both teams, now getting the hang of it, raced toward the finishing line. With every jump they got nearer, but the distance between the two teams was slowly becoming bigger in with my team getting a disadvantage.
Them Sophia fell! The other team had to go back to the start. We had triumphed!
This fall earned Sophia the praise of my team and annoyance of her own team (for a short duration – when we went to lunch everything was already forgotten).
Now it was time for the second and last part – tug of war.
The two teams stood against each other in a straight line, everybody having the rope in their hands.
On the signal everybody began to pull as hard as they could, but the rope only moved slowly. Slowly but surely in our direction. We had won the game, that was until the other team wanted a rematch. Since this was only fair, the teams soon began pulling slowly again. This time however, the rope moved toward the other team, making them the winners in the end. As hard as we tried, we could not prevent the third round to be lost also.
This meant the final score was a draw. The camp leaders decided that this was it and they went to make lunch, leaving us a ball, a pair of badminton rackets and, most important, the rope used to play tug of war.
This was most likely not on purpose, they probably just forgot it, but that doesn’t really matter for a few kids of around 10 years old. In this case it was the girls – most notable Sophia and two other girls named Amy and Lucy-
Amy was a girl of around Sophia’s age (8-9) and had long blonde hair.
Lucy was around my age (11) and had shorter, brown hair.
They picked the rope up, each on one side and Amy running enthusiastically after them yelling at them which boy they had to choose. She yelled my name
Oh shit! Not good!
Now they were running towards me and as if planned on forehand, Amy took the middle of the rope and they formed a triangle, pushing me towards a tree – this is not good at all! (or is it?)
I don’t know what the others were doing, and I didn’t care. I only focused on the rope and how to avoid being tied to a tree.
In the nick of time I stooped and the rope went on above me and I ran to a safe distance.
The girls didn’t go after me, but choose a new victim:
A boy whose name I have forgotten, so let’s call him Frank.
The girls did the same as they did earlier, but so did Frank! Unlike me, Frank wasn’t content with just escaping, he wanted instant revenge. And he got it, just not right away.
In fact, he ran toward Sophia but when the girls noticed this they changed direction and Frank charged head on into the rope. He was then dragged to a tree and the rope was wrapped around him (not quite effective, but we were young). He was tied to the tree and to end it all Sophia gagged him with a neckerchief.
By this time I had walked their way and when they saw me they enthusiastically waved their hands.
‘Hey, you are very brave to come back’
‘Well, you don’t have any rope left’ I joked.
‘oh, yes, uh…’ neither of the girls knew what to say to this.
‘mmmpphhh mmmpphhh!’
‘shut up Frank!’ Amy said, this made the girls laugh and made me chuckle a little bit.
‘well, you have no rope, so you can’t tie me up while I untie Frank’
‘but if you untie him we will tie you up in his place, so you won’t do that’ Sophia said.
‘we have promised to meet with a few other girls, but don’t untie him or we’ll find you’
With this I was left alone with Frank, not knowing what to do and trying to ignore franks muffled pleas for help.
I don’t know how long I was standing there, probably not very long because I can’t remember any nosy kids coming my way to investigate what in the world has happened.
But suddenly Lucy came running my way, waving her hands as if she wanted to say something.
‘I had to tell everybody we have to go lunching, so if you will please come and untie frank’
I did and during lunch I was thinking of a way to get revenge against those girls and I could see frank was thinking the same.
But unfortunately the tie-ups would make place for other games involving more kids, such as soccer.
When I was about to sleep that night, I felt somebody pinch me. Not hard enough to give any pain, but not so soft it would’ve went by without me noticing.
I looked at my side and saw lucy. She whispered:
‘if I help you and frank get even, will you not tie me up?’
‘yes, I think I won’t, but I don’t know about Frank’
‘okay, thanks’
Then I rolled over and when I was about to sleep I felt that I was losing altitude.
&(_)*()^%&^&* air mattress!

Hope you liked it so far, I can’t assure when the next part will be posted but I hope next week.
I have too much to do to fully concentrate on writing a full story.
