my right hand feels numb after i tied myself up

Postby lockedup » Sun Apr 13, 2014 6:06 pm

hey guys, i tied myself up earlier with some cable ties and i think i tied my right wrist a bit too tight and my right hand started to get a bit numb. i was only tied up for about 30 mins, but my right hand still feels a bit numb, only in 1 area though. its on the top of the hand near the index finger. its not on the index finger but sort of on the bit of the hand behind it, if that makes sense. im going to go to bed and see if its still there in the morning. i hope its gone like i said i was only tied up for 30 mins. well 35 mins on timer just so when id finished tying it was about 30 mins. i hope everything goes ok and it gets better tomorrow. ok i know i probably sound calm and im trying to but im actually kind of really panicing about this =(, i hope it gets better and its just a reminder to me to be a bit more careful.

please give me some advice. thanks everyone! :)

Massage your wrist to make sure blood is flowing normally into your hand.

Shows why using cable binders in self bondage is one of the more...let's say unlucky choices.

Btw, if the area is still numb after some minutes, it's not a blood flow issue and massage doesn't help; in fact, it's most of the time contraproductive. Nunbness for longer than 5 minutes hints that your nerves in that area are affected. And if you start to massage that nerve, it is only affected again with the same sort of pressure which caused the problem.

So, either you go straight to a doc....or, try to keep the hand calm and motionless for a while. Nerves are quick to anger and slow to calm- so this may last for some days.

Cheers

:mouthopen: Sorry, it looks like your hand will get progressively numb until it falls off :( :!:

OK, Just kidding.

What you likely damaged is the Ulnar nerve. It runs over the wrist just below the thumb. If you feel in there, just above the wrist and before the hand there is a small depression in the bone structure. With zip ties or hand cuffs, especially if applied behind the back with palms facing out and away from each other, it is not that uncommon to see this nerve pinched. :!:

From what you describe, it should clear up in a few days at most. if longer, see a doctor. To amplify what FF advised, a gentile massage of that point may help --- just don't get carried away with rubbing it or you may prolong your recovery. Movement and manipulation of your wrist as though you were making "kung fu" type circles in the air (slowly) and warm water and epsom salt soaks won't hurt either. PM me if you need more info. Let me know your progress.

when using zip ties, it is best to wrap them so they don't cut. Running one through an old sock and a cut hole in the toe is one way. Another is to use surgical tubing and run the zip through it first. Also when used on the wrists especially, always use three: one for each wrist and a middle one that takes up the stress between them.

Other circulation problems can be created with rope or duct tape, so it is important to check your prisoner regularly for blood circulation, etc.

Hope this helps.

thanks for the advice guys, its still there in the morning, so i think im gonna wait a few days and hopefully its gone by then. i really dont want to see a doctor, that will be really embarrassing. im only 16. and im really shy talking to people in real life. i really hope it goes away in a few days. next time i tie myself up (i tied myself in hogtie btw) im gonna make the link to my wrists and ankles longer (i made it really tight) and make sure my wrists aren't tied too tight by putting 1 finger under them.

i think it was kind of stupid of me to make the tightest bondage i ever really did to be the one where i have no quick release. basically i found this computer software (im a bit of a computer geek so i thought this was a cool way to do it) that runs a timer you set, and then when the timer ends the dvd drive opens. you put the key on a string in the dvd drive so when it opens it drops. oh and the key was to a padlock that was around some scissors. i had 2 keys and used it on 2 laptops because i was scared 1 of them might crash or the dvd drive got stuck on the string or 1 might overheat... or anything bad. both of them ejected the dvd drive successfully when the time ran out and both keys dropped. i didnt want to use it on a desktop computer incase of power cut. also i was talking to my friend while i was doing it. hes not really into bondage but he doesn't freak out when i talk about it which is nice.

next time also ill give my friend access to one of my laptops remotely through teamviewer and if its really hurting then ill ask him to eject it.

Good to see that you thought about your realise method, how it should be done and also what could go wrong with it and reduced this by having 2 of them, but yes the team viewer idea dose sound good as well so just in case you need to quickly get out you will be fine, but in this case you also got the added risk of the internet cutting out and stuff....

Also storys like this is what puts me of using cable ties (can fairly easily get my hands on them at work), anyway now onto a story... ;)

I remember some time ago I managed to do some damage as well once...... I had these loops of nylon (from tights, solid loops with no seam lines) and they were fairly strong, I never use to (and still don't....) use escape methods, so I didn't have anything sharp about to help me if needed, but in this case it would not of helped anyway and would of made me waste time...... I realised that the only way I could effectively bound my arms together at the time was to use these loops to secure them flat together, i managed to get this loop past my elbows at which point it really started to hurt, but the amount of movement that I had from this was next to none and in the panicked state that I was in I could not think of how to get out. After a short while (5 mins at most.......1 min minimum) I managed to get free from it, my left arm hurt like mad..... just layed on my bed for a while thinking and waiting for the pain to go (didn't try to stretch it of or anything) and slowly it did, after half a week or so..... From time to time the pain comes back, not that bad just a little pain...... kind of a reminder of how stupid I can be.

You know the suggestions about using three cable ties?
Good idea but may I suggest using three fewer than that?

if i did team viewer then id have the timer running as well as team viewer in case internet cut out.

my hand still feels numb but its only been 1 day. i hope it gets better soon. i can still see the marks from the cable ties on my wrists so it must have been really tight :(. i just hope the numbness goes away and i can have a normal hand again...

hi guys sorry i keep posting in this thread im just really worried. i thought id add some more info.

ok so when i was tied and my right hand started to go numb i went to the scissors, slowly. i was almost there but it was really hard to move. i moved my hand to go and grab them, it was too far. now if i was thinking normally id continue moving but i was rushing and really wanted the scissors and i stretched really hard ignoring everything... it was really painful but i got the scissors. i hope that didnt damage anything. the numbness didnt get any worse though when i did that. i think the numbness started when i made the link to my wrists and ankles way too tight.

also i wasnt really very clear on where the numbness was, sorry, but after a few google image searches i think ive damaged my radial nerve: http://www.eorthopod.com/sites/default/ ... rves02.jpg the blue bit is where i can feel the numbness. well its a bit like pins and needles, sensation. its on the top of the hand, not the palm. again sorry i wasnt clear the first time. i can still basically use my hand though, the bottom of the hand and the finger tips work fine, but i still dont like the idea of that nerve not working.

should the numbness be getting better yet? today i just let it rest pretty much. also when u guys say a few days you mean 3-5 days right? or maybe max a week right? sorry i like everything to be exact :L.

when i said "i think the numbness started when i made the link to my wrists and ankles way too tight." i meant the numbness started when i made the link from my wrists to my ankles way too tight, so basically the cable tie that brought my ankles next to my wrists. when i made that one too tight.

thanks everyone :).

Well..it's your health, not ours...and most of us aren't qualified nerve doctors. And, remote diagnosis does never work. So, all we can do here is give a general opinion. *Usually*, a pinched nerve calms down after some days..*usually* it does so by itself when not stressed again.
But as you read- usually. Nobody here can give you a guarantee for it, and if you want to be on the safer side contact the doc.
Your story is a good example about why self bondage is dangerous...a small problem can turn into a big one when you are tied and no one is around to lend a hand. Plus, cable ties used directly on skin are among the more foolish ways of selfbondage - hope you never use them again....

Cheers

thanks, i probably will still use them again, but much more carefully. if i had rope i would use that instead though. next time i use them i will have my release right next to me so i can be released instantly when numbness starts, and figure out the best way of doing it safely before i resume normal sessions. i won't make this same mistake again. when i do sessions i will use the timer + give access to both my laptops on team viewer for my tug friends so they can release me at any time if theres an emergency. the timer will also be running in case of internet problems, but i doubt internet problems will happen, my power goes out more often then my internet. and im in england, in the midlands, on a hill where there are no floods. we barely ever get snow, storms are quite rare too, and it's only the worst that cause power cuts. basically im saying my internet and power is reliable. i would be more worried about 1 of the laptops crashing, but if that happens ill just ask to be released on the other one. this set up is pretty reliable imo :). thanks everyone for the advice.
