Over the Mouth Gags

Postby gagtheguys » Sat Dec 21, 2013 1:29 pm

I have started to like the look of a cloth over the mouth gag which is not duct tape. Any advice on how to make it effective? How tight does it need to be? What material works best?

No matter what you do, in reality, they are not effective. For that matter, cleave gags (my favorite) aren't effective either. I think the cleave gag conveys the impression of helplessness and silence better than the over the mouth, or "detective" gag, but that's a matter of personal opinion. "Mark McCain" from "The Rifleman" was kind enough to demonstrate.

When I was young, we played games and made challenges that involved being tied and gagged. Since the gags we saw on TV worked (or appeared to work) we had a rule stating that you could not talk while gagged, nor could you push the gag out with your tongue. If you did (without good reason), you got tied up and gagged some more - usually twice by each person present when the "infraction" occurred.

Yes, indeed, young Mr. McCain was kind enough to demonstrate the principle. I wonder which one HE preferred? I suppose we'll never know! Of course, we'll never know because young Mr. Mark McCain was merely a fictitious TV character. But, I wonder which method Mr. Johnny Crawford preferred for a tie-up scene....

You could just gag someone in an effective way and then tie a cloth over the actual gag.

Yes, yes, indeed. Put an OTM gag ***OVER*** an ITM gag. It works. Or, ***over*** a tape gag. Works, too.

In my experience nothing beats a stuff gag + wrap around tape gag (including under the chin!) + OTM gag combo.

Keeps ya quiet!

Yeah I agree. Love being taped up like that. What's your fav restraints say in a kidnap

Handcuffs and leg irons. the irons hobble you so you can't run and everyone knows onces handcuffs are snapped on there's no getting them off without the key.

But the best alternative is wrapped in duct tape then tied over again with rope.

Despite what i write in my stories, i have never personally experienced a gag that rendered me 100% quiet - or even close. It may reduce the noise level, and greatly muffle what i am trying to say, but even with the few times i wore a professionally-made gag (like a ball gag), i was able to make myself comprehensible enough to anyone near me (and actually paying any attention to me) and even loud enough to be heard outside the immediate area (such as the next room even when there was a solid wall in the way). That's because even the best gag in the world can't keep one quiet if he has sufficient determination to be heard, a strong throat, and a healthy set of lungs. No gag in the world will adequately suppress noise you make using your throat! At least, none I've ever experienced!
Imo gags are fine in roleplay, but they won't quiet an honest-to-God kidnap victim.

I have used tights for gagging several times. Pull the seat of the tights fully over the head, so the elastic waist comes down below the chin and around the neck. Leave the legs loose one on each side above the head. Stuff a wadded up sock or other cloth into the mouth, pushing the tights seat in and the netting of the tights will help prevent the person being gagged from swallowing the gag. Then, wrap the legs around behind the head, and pull the legs out so they are flat and bring them so they cross the face. Its easy to flatten the fabric out so you can pull the legs over the mouth first, and then over the entire face from under the chin to up over the bridge of the nose, and they should stretch to circle the head several times.

The result is a tightness surrounding the entire head and the stuffing is held in place very nicely, yet you can breathe thru the netting fabric over the nose. Try it!! You'll like it!!

I agree with Jason, no gag will ever ( and trust me, I've tried) sufficiently silence you. I have looked, I have fantasized, but reality inevitably kicks in.

However, I have heard that taking a wet towel and tying it around neck (not tightly as we don't want suffocation) can serve to dampen sounds that travel up and through the throat. Never tried that before.

To account for that, very often a captor (at least in my mind) would put a tv on loud or play music so that in case any friends, family, or strangers made their way around to the prime location there would be something to talk over. and as far as making noises with your body, tie them down to something so that ligaments aren't a problem.

I have to agree that no gag, imo will keep someone 100% silent, but isn't part of the fun hearing your captive moan and groan, as they struggle to get free. :)

Of course, both methods, as demonstrated by Mark McCain, have the "stamp of approval" by the IGS---the International Gagging Society"---as acceptable tools of Speech Inhibiting Implements (SIIs) (Or, is it Speech Inhibiting Devices, or SIDs?)
