Why should Argentinia get those islands? They weren't theirs, have never been theirs and should never be theirs. There's no legitimate claim to those island so all Britain has to do is laugh in their face when Argentina says they went them.

Its undignified for the former world power to bend over backwards, ceding its own territory to appease some bully.

I wonder if this guy wants the Falkland island gone just because the Iron lady kept them British.

Corbyn hates everything the British armed forces does--from the Falklands to the first Gulf War to Northern Ireland to the Balkans.

I pretty much support the man on most of his opinions (at least the ones i know about, such as Gay Rights) but this one about the Falklands seems a little too far out in left field. Literally.

gay rights ok but it's not like there hasn't been anything done by previous governments.

Massive QE? Good luck to the UK.

Alright, I've been a good boy up 'til now . . .

So, QE is worse than having a "Government" that has allowed debt to double over the last five years, is it? I wonder why they allowed that to happen. Perhaps it's because they're a load of bankers.

To address the initial point, which was taken from a notorious Tory supporting rag: it is an attempt to stir up the jingoistc, falsely patriotic nature of the uninformed to take their minds off the other points in Mr. Corbyn's "manifesto". It saves their addressing his suggestions for improving social justice.

But they can only do so because of an opportunity the man himself provides. From what I heard I like Corbyn more then I don't but suggesting to give the islands to Argentinia does seem like a piece of bad foreign policy. Perhaps people oppose it for the wrong reasons but that doesn't mean there's not plenty to oppose in this plan.

What do you have when you have 5000 politicians at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean?

A good start.

Under what ruling should there be a joint sovereignty?

The very fact that the Telegraph's tactic works is demonstrated by the fact that we are discussing the one topic most likely to stir up the rightist rabble. Being an honest man, Mr. Corbyn has made himself hostage to the tactic. How much consideration do such people give to the other proposals he has made?

As far as the joint sovereignty question is concerned (which, by the way I do NOT support), any such arrangement is not at present subject to any "rule"; a law would have to be passed (or not). THAT is what Parliament is for!

Assuming Corbyn is the next Labour leader, the first thing he has to do is unite the party. Then they have to sort out their policies, and act as a credible opposition party. The Falklands issue will be well down the list of things to do.

I don't know. I never said anything about it :big: I assume you mean Britain and Argentina both having sovereignty over the islands in case my answer would be never. Argentina must keep its paws of the island and Britain should give them no illusion they can afford otherwise.

Corbyn has now been voted in as the new Labour leader, will be interesting to see how he gets on with the job, in the coming weeks.

No doubt, the Tory Press will be in overdrive !

Wasn't it interesting to see the Blairites running away? I wonder if any of them will cross the floor.

It will be interesting to see, what the Blairites will do, I wonder if Corbyn will try and make some deal with them, to keep them on board.

I hope for Britain's sake that the Blairites are more mature and reasonable than the pack of idiots serving as their closest equivalent in the U.S. Congress. I don't know how it is over there, but imo the ultra-conservatives are ruining things in this country.

Okay kiddies, play nicely. Some of us are old enough to remember Foot and Thatcher, and the fun then. But Corbyn is much more agreeable and presentable than Michale Foot was - and much as i think the woman was an absolute disaster for Great Britain north of Watford, Thatcher earned my grudging respect, and Cameron hasn't.

We only have to look at the things for which this "extremist" is being criticised:
He doesn't favour tie wearing
He didn't sing the national Anthem. He is a republican and, as such can not support the royalist aspects f a national anthem that lauds the monarchy and makes NO reference to the nation (Unless you count the enemy's "knavish tricks" and support the destruction of the Scots).
As before, the right picks upon trivia because it avoids having to answer the more humanitarian policies of a socialist party.

Jeremy Corbyn seems a bit of a novelty, at the moment, everything he does is subject to the tightest scrutiny, whether it is what he is wearing or what he says, or what he does.

Will be interesting to see what happens when the fuss dies down, and he has to actually make some policies. !

I think you'll find that it's the PARTY that will have to make any policies.

And unified cliques with over-developed senses of entitlement make policies completely divorced from the needs of the majority (or plebs as we are known).

I wish the major political parties in the US understood that. Especially the Republicans, who seem completely out of touch with the needs of the average citizen.
