The Black Falcon and Indigo (ft. KittyReaper) COMPLETED

Postby The Black Falcon » Wed Apr 25, 2012 1:41 pm

The Black Falcon watched from the rooftops, searching for prey...
"Searching for prey?" the vigilante thought out loud, removing his black fedora to run his hand through his dark hair, "Well that sounds a little cheesy."
The young man stared down the nose of his black Venetian doctor mask, looking down on the Chicago streets. It had been a while since he last fought street crime, and he was in a dire mood for more. There had to be something going on. There was always something going on. A mugger, perhaps...or some gang war...
Suddenly, an alarm rang out, shattering the tranquility of the quiet night. A figure took off running down the street. The Black Falcon observed closely. It appeared to be a masked woman, wearing black running shoes, black leggings, a dark sleeveless leather turtleneck top that was short enough to leave her midriff showing, and elbow-length black fingerless gloves.
"Jackpot," the Black Falcon muttered.
Moving to the other edge of the building, the vigilante watched as the mysterious girl turned a corner and continued to run between buildings. Taking a deep breath and preparing for action, the Black Falcon once again donned his fedora. However, once the black hat passed over his eyes, the woman had disappeared.
"Well that's something," the Falcon thought out loud, "I didn't know cat burglars existed outside of comic books. Well this should be fun."
A female voice suddenly crooned into his ear, "Maybe it'll be more fun if you don't talk to yourself, sweety."
The woman quickly planted a kiss on his cheek, leaving a ruby red lipstick stain, and took off running across the rooftops. The Black Falcon rubbed his cheek and immediately took off after her. The girl was extremely agile, leaping across the gaps between rooftops as the Black Falcon followed her, using built up speed to cross the gaps. The two continued to sprint across the rooftops, leaping, vaulting, and scaling fire escapes from building to building. Eventually the two came to a large gap, which the woman managed to clear in a single leap. Building up more and more speed to clear the gap, the Black Falcon threw himself over the gap, barely managing to get across and landing in a cat hang from the other building. As he hung on to the ledge, the masked girl casually strolled up to him.
"Let me help you with that," the girl said, extending a hand, "Call me Indigo."
The vigilante took her hand and let her pull him up, "I'm the Black Falcon. Now kindly stop and surrender."
The woman laughed, taking off once more, "You've got to catch me first!"
"Challenge accepted," the Falcon chuckled.
The man watched as the girl ran to the edge of the building, dropping down to street level via a fire escape. The Black Falcon followed her down into an alley surrounded on three sides by buildings.
"Nowhere to run now," he said.
"Perfect," Indigo said, stretching out her limbs, "I was getting tired."
The Black Falcon approached her, but Indigo suddenly lashed out with a spinning kick. The Falcon ducked it, charging Indigo with a few punches, which she blocked, countering immediately with a few more kicks. The vigilante once again dodged all the kicks, lashing forward and grabbing her wrist. Indigo thrusted her arm forward towards the Falcon's jaw in attempt to free her arm, but the man anticipated this move, moving backwards, dragging her arm with him and gently placing his other hand on the small of her back, pressing the thief up against a wall.
"Alright, alright," Indigo gasped, "You've got me."
"I know," the Falcon said, a gleam in his red eyes.

The Black Falcon proceeded to remove a roll of duct tape from his belt, wrapping the silver duct tape around Indigo's wrists behind her back.
"Duct tape?" Indigo asked curiously.
"Comes in handy," the Falcon responded, continuing to wrap her crossed wrists in tape both vertically and horizontally, then moving onto her legs, "It'll help me keep you restrained until the police arrive."
As the Black Falcon taped the woman's ankles and knees together, Indigo casually hummed to herself, allowing the man to bind her.
"So thorough, Blackbird," Indigo chuckled, "It's almost like you enjoy tying girls up..."
"It's almost like you enjoy being tied up," the Black Falcon countered.
"Oh shut up," Indigo sighed, beginning to struggle against the duct tape.
The vigilante removed a small handkerchief from his black shirt pocket, tearing off a few pieces of tape.
"You know," he said, "I wasn't originally planning on doing this, but I should probably do something about that acid tongue of yours."
"Like what?" Indigo mocked.
With that, the Black Falcon quickly stuffed the handkerchief into her open mouth, taping her lips and jaw up with several pieces of duct tape.
"What do you have to say for yourself now, Catwoman?" the Black Falcon laughed.
"Mmmmph!! Mrrrrmmm!! MMMMMNNNMMMM!!!!" Indigo shouted into her gag, twisting and turning against the tape.
The Black Falcon chuckled and began to walk away, "Catch you later, princess."
As he listened to her muffled cries, the Black Falcon couldn't help but look back at the bound and gagged Indigo one more time. Shockingly, she wasn't struggling at all, but merely staring wide-eyed over her gag at something directly behind him.
"Well what do you know?" A male voice called out.
The Black Falcon whipped around to see several thugs surrounding him and Indigo.
"For once, it looks like the Falcon made our job a whole lot easier..."

As around half a dozen men approached the Black Falcon and the bound and gagged Indigo, the Black Falcon began to crack his knuckles.
"This night just keeps getting better and better."
"It does, doesn't it?" one of the thugs scoffed.
"What the hell do you mean by that?"
A couple crooks approached Indigo as she began to struggle more and more against the tape.
"We've got what we came here for. The boss was set on having us steal that jewel that the girl took. And now thanks to your help, we've got her, too! And I imagine the boss has some good uses for her..."
One man attempted to grab Indigo, only to be interrupted by a stiff kick to the balls from Indigo's bound legs. The thief growled under her gag, daring the rest of the thugs to make a move. While her original assailant rocked back and forth on the ground in pain, two others grabbed Indigo, picking her up despite her struggling and beginning to carry her away. The Black Falcon attempted to go after her, but three criminals stood in his way.
"What's the matter, Falcon?" the apparent leader said, "You really don't recognize us?"
"What do you mean by that?" the hero growled.
The thug leaned in close, speaking softly and smiling wickedly.
"Johnathan Cray sends his regards. What we're about to do is a present from him, as a newly freed man..."

The man's smile was immediately wiped off of his face as the Black Falcon decked him in the jaw with a single punch.
"Then I guess I'll have to send Cray your heads as a present from me."
The two remaining thugs surrounding the Black Falcon charged at once. The vigilante jumped straight up, throwing double kicks at each assailant. One was knocked back, yet the other managed to block it, grabbing the Falcon by the leg. As the Black Falcon landed roughly on the ground, he quickly used his other leg to kick the criminal in the shins. As the man bent over in pain, the crime fighter placed his hand on the back of the man's head and slammed his face into the pavement.
Meanwhile, Indigo continued to thrash against the grip of the two thugs carrying her, who were having a harder and harder time due to her struggles. Suddenly, with a quick jerk Indigo managed to free her hands, punching one of her attackers directly in the throat, as the thug dropped Indigo and bent down for air, his partner pulled out a knife and approached the girl, who was frantically working on freeing her legs. Before the criminal could attack, though, he was intercepted by a flying kick from the Black Falcon. As he was stumbling from the kick, the Falcon took the opportunity to smash the man's head into the wall directly behind him. He quickly picked up the fallen criminal's knife and approached Indigo, who was shouting frantically to him through her gag.
"Fine," the Falcon said, "I'm on it."
Working as fast as possible, the vigilante freed her legs, helping the thief to her feet. Standing back to back, the Black Falcon and Indigo faced the three remaining criminals.
"This night just keeps getting more and more interesting," the Black Falcon panted.
"Mmmmmmph," Indigo responded, rolling her eyes.
All three men charged at once. The Black Falcon dodged a punch from one criminal, grabbing his arm and using the momentum of the crook's punch to throw his face directly into Indigo's elbow strike. Both fighters ducked at the same time, allowing the strikes of the remaining two criminals to sail right over them. While the Black Falcon attacked one criminal with a charging tackle, Indigo swept the other's legs out from under him, sending the man crashing to the floor. One more kick to the head was enough to put that one out of commission. Meanwhile, the Falcon grappled against his opponent, finally managing to get both of his hands on the back of the henchman's skull and neck. Indigo observed quietly as the Black Falcon threw a brutal rising knee kick directly into the thug's face.

The Black Falcon, out of breath, approached Indigo and grabbed her hand, pulling her towards a fire escape on the side of one building.
"Come on!" the vigilante shouted.
As the Black Falcon and Indigo escaped to the top of a nearby building, several police cars arrived to arrest the 6 badly wounded criminals.
Indigo finally peeled her gag off, spitting out the clothe.
"What's a hero like you doing hiding from the police?" she panted.
"If I was fine with the police," the man responded, "Then I wouldn't be administering vigilante justice, would I?"
"I guess that's true," Indigo said, "Thanks for the save, by the way."
"Couldn't help myself," the Black Falcon sighed, "Can't ignore a damsel in distress. Even if I'm the one who put her in distress in the first place."
The two laughed and then fell silent, watching the police cars drive away.
"So who is this Johnathan Cray?" Indigo inquired, immediately noticing the Black Falcon's mood darken.
"John Cray....me and him have a bit of a history..."
"Do tell."
"Long story short, the man is an arsonist, a kidnapper, a murderer, and a petty thief. He'll do anything in the name of breaking the law. Last time I saw him, I managed to stop him from detonating several bombs. That confrontation landed him in jail. But now he's free. And evidently, he's coming for me."
Indigo noticed the Falcon gritting his teeth and clenching his fists and put her hand on his shoulder.
"Easy there, hero..."
"I've got to stop him once and for all. You don't understand, Indigo, the man will do anything - hurt anyone and everyone - in order to get what he wants. And now he wants revenge. Well I'll give it to him."
As the Black Falcon continued to brood, Indigo began to back away.
"And I'm sure you'll get him, Falcon. In the mean time, I'd best be going..."
The Black Falcon began to chuckle, "You want to leave? Without this?"
He withdrew a spectacular, gleaming black jewel from his pocket.
"When did you get that!" Indigo shouted indignantly, her perpetual smirk disappearing from her red lips.
"A keen fighter notices everything. I'm going to cut to the chase right now. I've seen what you can do. And I'm going to need help dealing with Cray. After all, it takes a criminal to know one."
"Forget it!" Indigo shouted, "Give that back to me!"
"I will if you help me," the Black Falcon responded, "And maybe I'll see to it that you don't wind up in jail yourself..."
Indigo looked from the Black Falcon's face to the diamond, and then back to the Falcon again. Her lips once again curled into that familiar smirk.
"Fine, why the hell not?" she said, "I'm always up for a little adventure..."

The Black Falcon watched from the rooftops, once again looking down upon the dark streets. Upon hearing soft footsteps behind him, he called out.
"I'm glad you decided to help."
Indigo approached the Black Falcon and crouched down next to him.
"You know I can't stay away from you too long, hero..."
"And I'm sure the diamond has nothing to do with that?" the Black Falcon scoffed.
"Absolutely not," Indigo sighed, "So what's the plan?"
"We've got to set a trap. That way we can get a hold of one of Cray's henchmen and find out what his next move is."
"That sounds good. But what are you planning on using as bait?"
The Black Falcon merely turned around and looked at Indigo.
Indigo began to back away, "No. Oh no, Falcon. This was NOT part of our deal!"
The Black Falcon stood up and turned around, "Face it, Indigo, you're the most logical choice. Unless you want to strut me out there in a blond wig, and somehow, I don't think thugs will go for that."
"At least let me hold the diamond, then? Maybe the thugs will go for that, too."
"I don't think so," the Black Falcon laughed.
"Come on, Falcon," Indigo cooed, bringing herself close to the vigilante's chest and pressing up against him, "Why don't you trust me?"
In response, the Black Falcon casually put his arm around her and snatched up the stolen diamond that she had been hiding behind her back.
"I've got my reasons."
The playful expression on Indigo's face changed immediately as she shoved the Black Falcon away in a huff.
"You're no fun... Fine....but you're not tying me up this time!"
The Falcon began to approach her with a gleam in his eye, "But Indigo, you're already so good at getting tied up!"
"Oh no, forget it. You'll have to work for it this time!"
Indigo turned and began to sprint away, but was suddenly tripped up by a rope trap that had been previously set up.
"Comes in handy to think ahead," the Black Falcon said, picking Indigo up in a fireman's carry and bringing her down to street level.
"Put me down!" Indigo shouted.
The Black Falcon rolled his eyes, "Yeah, I'm sure that shouting's not drawing any attention right now..."
"Put me down," Indigo repeated through gritted teeth.
"Gladly," the Falcon responded, setting Indigo down yet crossing her hands behind her back.

As he produced some rope and began to bind her wrists, the Falcon continued talking, "Luckily I brought some rope this time."
"Yeah," Indigo sighed, "Lucky."
The Black Falcon sat Indigo down and finished binding her wrists, moving onto trussing up her torso above and below her breasts.
"Hey!" Indigo yelled when he was done, "Careful with those!"
She quickly threw a kick at the Black Falcon, which the vigilante intercepted and grabbed in the air.
"If you'll recall," he said calmly, "Our last fight didn't go so well for you. And you had your hands free that time."
Indigo sighed, "Just get it over with."
The Black Falcon smirked, "That's what I like to hear."
The Falcon worked quickly and methodically, tying Indigo's ankles, knees, and thighs together.
"Now that I think about it, criminals might find it a little odd finding a tied up girl masked like this. Maybe I should-"
"Don't you dare touch my mask," Indigo growled.
"Fine...fine..." the Falcon conceded, "But I think it's time to do something about that mouth of yours."
"Okay.." Indigo sighed, "But first... HELP!!!!!!!!!!!"
The Black Falcon quickly stuffed a cloth into her open mouth.
"That'll work nicely, but now time is definitely of the essence," he said, pulling out a roll of duct tape, "Remember this?"
Indigo spit the cloth out onto the street, "You wouldn't dare!"
The Black Falcon picked up the cloth, wiping it on his pant leg.
"You know, this is pretty awkward..." he muttered, "But I only brought one cloth...I'll have to gag you anyways."
"No!" Indigo shouted, "No, no, NO, NO! N-"
The vigilante quickly cut her off by putting the cloth back in her mouth, rapidly tearing off a piece of tape and plastering it over her lips.
"MMM!!! MPH!!!!" Indigo cursed under the tape.
The Black Falcon tore off more pieces of tape, further sealing her lips and taping up her mouth and jaws.
"Struggle all you want, Indigo," the Black Falcon smirked, "I know you like it."
Indigo blushed underneath the tape. The Black Falcon picked up the bound and gagged Indigo in a cradle hold.
"Now, where should I put you..."
"Mmmmnmm...Mmph!"
Both suddenly froze when they heard the roar of an engine. Indigo's eyes grew wide over her gag as the Black Falcon put her down against a wall and backed up into the shadows.
"Okay," he said, "Get ready for the trap."
Indigo continued to struggle, twisting and straining against the ropes and yelling into her gag.
"Don't worry," the Black Falcon whispered from the shadows, "I won't let anything happen to you."
Indigo paused her struggling for a bit, looking at the Black Falcon quizzically, then picked it up again, putting on a show for whatever criminal was about to approach.

Sure enough, an enormous van roared by, and one man exited, walking towards the source of the noise as the van drove away. Upon the Black Falcon's cueing, Indigo yelled more and more into her gag. A large man stepped into the alleyway, walking towards the bound and gagged girl.
"Well, well, well," the man chuckled, "The boss thought we'd find you here. You've stepped a little too often into Cray's territory and he'd like to have a word with you."
Indigo stopped struggling for a moment and growled some more into the duct tape.
The man suddenly drew closer, grabbing at Indigo, "But that doesn't mean that you and me can't have a little fun first..."
The expression on Indigo's face suddenly changed into one of panic as she kicked vainly against the ropes and screamed against her gag. Before the man could touch her, though, the Black Falcon leapt out of the shadows, drawing his black sword and holding it across the criminal's throat.
"I'd stop right there if I were you," the vigilante growled.
Indigo stopped struggling and breathed a sigh of relief.
"Excellent performance, Indigo," the Falcon said.
"Mmmmmmm...."
"Now that we've got some time to talk," the Black Falcon said to the criminal, "I'd like to ask a few questions."
"Then take the sword off my throat."
"I'd rather not. Now... Who do you work for?"
The thug scoffed, "The same guy every criminal in this city works for - Johnathan Cray."
"I thought so. Now, tell us what you know about his plans."

TO BE CONTINUED...

"You guys win..." John Cray's henchman muttered, "I know where one of his bases of operation is."
"Now that wasn't so hard, was it?" the Black Falcon smirked, "Now take us there. But first, would you be so kind as to untie my sidekick?"
At swordpoint, the thug untied the ropes binding Indigo and let her stand up and remove her gag.
"Hm, I think I prefer you with a gag on," the Black Falcon sighed.
"Oh shut up," Indigo quipped.

Luckily, the place wasn't too far from where they had caught the criminal. Walking in the shade of the buildings and alleyways in the dead of night, they found themselves at a giant warehouse after 20 minutes of walking. The Black Falcon noticed two armed men standing in two windows high above. He lightly jabbed his prisoner with a sword.
"Tell them to let us in," he whispered.
The man stepped out into plain view, shouting to the gunmen.
"Open the door!" he shouted.
Sure enough, the door opened, and the thug entered, followed by the Black Falcon and Indigo using the night as cover.
The three walked up to a large door, with the Black Falcon keeping his sword carefully trained on the thug's back.
"Don't try anything funny," the Black Falcon muttered.
The crook slowly turned his head, grinning.
"Wouldn't dream of it."
Without warning, the man threw open the large doors and was immediately shot in the head, slumping back and falling onto the Black Falcon's blade. Indigo quickly ran back to the doors, but they were slammed shut and bolted in front of her. She continued trying to find exits, searching in vain. Meanwhile, the Black Falcon withdrew his sword from the corpse and stood bolted to the spot, eyes fixed on a single point beyond those doors. A single man with a smoking silver pistol, with jet black hair and piercing blue eyes, sporting a black leather jacket, black dress pants, and a brown gun holster at his hip.
Johnathan Cray.

"You know me," Cray stated matter-of-factly, an all too familiar smirk on his face while gesturing to the corpse, "I just can't stand people who can't do their jobs right..."
Indigo walked up to the Black Falcon and observed Cray as he continued to speak.
"But then again, he did do exactly what I told him to. I just wanted to kill him anyways. You know how I hate to leave loose ends untied."
Two huge men appeared behind the Black Falcon and Indigo and shoved them forwards into the main room, locking the doors behind the two. While an army of thugs surrounded them, John Cray began to casually stroll up to the vigilante.
"What a pleasant reunion," he said, "The Black Falcon...Long time, no see."
"Funny," the Black Falcon spoke up for the first time, "As I recall, the last time I saw you, you were being stuffed into a police car in handcuffs with bruises and several fractures."
"Just as clever as always, aren't you, vigilante?" Cray laughed coldly, brandishing his pistol, "That little quip will cost you your sword."
"Don't you dare touch-"
"You know, it's REALLY not smart to talk back to the man holding a gun at your face at point blank range."
The Black Falcon stood still, his blood red eyes concentrated in rage as the man unbuckled the sheath at his hip, taking both the sheath and the sword.
"Should I take your mask, too?" John Cray wondered out loud.
"Touch my mask and I'll put you in a wheel chair for the rest of your miserable life," the Black Falcon growled.
John Cray chuckled, then broke out into full laughter.
"Fine," he said, "I probably wouldn't recognize you anyways. And I'll find out your precious secret identity eventually. And then...then you'll pay."
"Why don't you just kill me now?!"
"Because that would be too merciful!!" Cray suddenly burst out in anger, "I've dealt with 'heroes' before. I've broken them. And I will break you...by making your loved ones pay for your decisions. Only then will you truly learn your lesson to NEVER mess with me... Nobody will be safe around you, Falcon. Including that new girl you've got there..."
Cray stowed away his pistol and the Black Falcon's sword and began to walk away.
"I've got somewhere to be. Boys, show them to their new rooms."
With that, John Cray left while the criminals shoved the Black Falcon and Indigo into another hallway.

"Hm...around 100 guys... how many of them do you think we could take out before we go out in a blaze of glory?" Indigo tried saying playfully to the Black Falcon.
"You know..." the vigilante stated coldly, fire still in his eyes, "There's a time for joking. And a time for action."
Indigo silenced herself as they were marched further into the facility. They were eventually left alone in a narrow hallway with a makeshift prison cell at the end. One man with a gun was left guarding them.
"Now I'm gonna make both of you cozy for the next couple of weeks," the man chuckled while striding towards them.
"What happened to that 'time for action' you were telling me about?" Indigo whispered intensely to the Black Falcon.
"It'll happen..." the Falcon whispered back, "Just give some time for Fight or Flight to kick in."
"You have got to be kidding me!"
The criminal suddenly grabbed the Black Falcon by the shoulder and turned him around to face the menacing steel gaze of his pistol.
"What's the hold up?? Get moving! Or am I gonna have to demonstrate this gun on your girl here...?"
Without a single warning, the Black Falcon suddenly lashed out with his left hand wrapped around the barrel of the gun, pressing it against the thug's chest. With the gun diverted, the Black Falcon dealt out several crushing punches to the thug's face and body with his right hand, drilling the man repeatedly until he fell back against the wall. Seeing that he hadn't relinquished his grasp of the gun yet, the Black Falcon grabbed a hold of the gun with both hands and twisted it in the man's grasp, breaking his index finger with a sickening crack. In one swift motion, the Black Falcon grabbed the gun from the thug's limp hand and pistol whipped him on the side of the head. The man fell unconscious before he could even scream.
"Amazing..." Indigo said, shaking her head and smiling as the Black Falcon removed the ammo from the pistol and threw it down the hallway, "All this time as John Cray's enemy and he still thinks that one punk with a gun is enough to stop you."
"He's smarter than you give him credit for, Indigo," the Falcon responded.
"Or you could just take the damn compliment," Indigo muttered.

"Now," the Black Falcon said, "I'd rather not stay here and watch as Cray's plans unfold. Up for a daring escape?"

Re: The Black Falcon and Indigo (ft. Reaper1711!!) - Part 5

Postby The Black Falcon » Wed May 02, 2012 8:55 pm

The Black Falcon and Indigo walked cautiously down the hallway. Eventually they came to a locked door.
"Well... this is an unwelcome road block," the Black Falcon muttered.
Indigo responded by pulling out a small piece of metal and inserting it into the lock. After a brief moment, the door swung open.
"A thief's touch," Indigo smirked.
The Black Falcon looked at her for a moment before the two continued into another room.
"So should we take the stealth route or fight our way through hell?" the Black Falcon wondered.
Suddenly, two men with crowbars spotted the two and charged towards them.
"I don't think we have a choice," Indigo stated.
One man ran up to Indigo and made a wide swing with the crowbar. Indigo leapt over the weapon, grabbing onto some support beams overhead and swinging forward with a kick to the man's face. Meanwhile, the Black Falcon ducked his opponent's swing, charging forward with a few devastating body punches. The criminal tried to attack again with an overhead swing, but the vigilante grabbed it mid-swing and kicked the man square in the chest, took away the crowbar, and silenced the thug with a smack of the crowbar on his head. Indigo dropped down and the two continued running. As they approached another set of doors, the Black Falcon spoke up.
"I think this is the main room of the warehouse. After this we'll be well out of here."

With one kick, the Black Falcon opened the doors. As soon as the two ran through the doors to the center of the room, ten thugs surrounded them. The Falcon and Indigo backed up into each other as the crooks advanced upon them. Quickly diving into combat, the two made quick work of the thugs. Leaving behind several unconscious bodies, the Black Falcon and Indigo managed to open the doors to the exit. Suddenly, gunshots rang out from behind the duo.
"They've got guns!" Indigo screamed.
"Holy...RUN!!!!"
The two took off out of the warehouse with gunshots firing all around them.
"I forget about the goddamn gunmen in the windows," the Black Falcon cursed as the two continued to run.
Once the Black Falcon and Indigo cleared the grounds of the warehouse and took off towards the high city buildings, black cars began to drive dangerously close. After a tense moment, their windows rolled down to reveal the barrels of several guns.
"Come on!" Indigo yelled. The duo bolted into an alleyway and scaled a building, running across rooftops.
"Where are we going?" Indigo panted against a background of roaring engines from street level.
"I've grown a little tired of sprinting across rooftops," the Black Falcon responded, suddenly speeding up and jumping across an alleyway into a parking structure.
Indigo followed suit, observing as the Falcon swiftly made his way to a jet black car parked on the third level, with a black spoiler mounted on the back.
"You....have a car?" Indigo inquired, puzzled.
The Black Falcon turned to his companion as he unlocked the car, "Indigo...meet Ebony."

Moments later, Ebony roared out of the parking structure, speeding down the street. Suddenly, the Black Falcon veered the car down a side street.
"What are you doing??" Indigo yelled from the passenger seat.
"I saw him."
Sure enough, a large armored humvee appeared, speeding down the road in front of them.
"That's his car," the Black Falcon stated, "I'd recognize it anywhere."
"And you're going to follow him??"
"If I can stop him now, I'll stop a lot of people from getting hurt. Plus.....I just want my damn sword back."
The Black Falcon's knuckles went white on the steering wheel as the vigilante steered the car around tight curves and around Cray's gunmen, red eyes focused on the giant vehicle in front of him. Just as he was about to close the gap between the two, a black car steered directly in his way between him and Cray. The Black Falcon was forced to steer Ebony out of the way as the car opened fire on it. After more wild driving, the Black Falcon and Indigo finally escaped onto the freeway.

The Black Falcon's demeanor was cold as he silently drove Ebony down the highway with Indigo in the passenger seat.
"I lost him..." the Black Falcon spoke up after a while.
"It's okay, hero," Indigo attempted to console him, "We'll get him."
"No...he got us."
"You shouldn't feel bad for what just happened."
"Shouldn't I?" the Black Falcon snapped, "Shouldn't I??? It was obviously a trap. I should have seen that coming a mile away!"
"Cray's smart, Falcon! You said it yourself!"
"I'm the hunter, here! Just when I thought I almost had him, he got me..."
"You can get over it. God knows this day hasn't been a cakewalk for me either! We were being shot at, if you hadn't noticed."
The Black Falcon took a deep breath, "I'm sorry... I didn't expect for that to happen...for you to almost get killed..."
"I agreed to help you, Falcon... But that diamond's not worth getting killed over."
The Falcon sighed again, "I know... Listen, I'm really sorry I got you involved in this. But you heard what Cray said. You're not safe around me. I'd be careful if I were you. Even though this isn't your business, I'm afraid that it is now."
There was a tense moment as they continued to drive. Eventually, Indigo noticed some sheet music stuffed in one of the car's compartments. Unfolding the paper, Indigo examined it quizzically.
"You sing?" she asked.
"Yeah..." the Black Falcon said sheepishly, "One of my other hobbies besides crime fighting."
"Well maybe one day I can hear you sing," Indigo smirked.
"Yeah..." the Falcon sighed, "Maybe... where should I drop you off?"
"This building coming up is fine."
The Black Falcon slowed down Ebony, resting it in front of a large building and letting Indigo out of the passenger door.
"Indigo?" the Black Falcon asked.
"Yeah?"
"Don't try to follow me home."
With that, Ebony sped away, blending into the night.

2 days later...

Adam, a 19 year-old college student, drove around aimlessly in the giant parking lot. Like usual, it was so impossibly difficult to find a single parking space in the entire mall. It shouldn't come as a surprise, he thought, as plenty of college students on summer break like him were looking for a place to escape the stifling heat. And plus, any huge establishment in the heart of Chicago was bound to be crowded. Finally, the young man found a place near the back of the parking lot, next to a black car with tinted windows. Relieved, Adam steered his car into the space and put it in park. As he shut off the vehicle and locked it, he couldn't help but notice something about the car next to him. It looked strangely familiar...
Contemplating the car for a second, Adam unlocked his car and pulled out his black martial arts duffel bag. Relocking the car, he walked towards the mall's main entrance. After a lengthy walk, he arrived at the large glass doors serving as the entrance to the huge building. As he was about to enter, he caught sight of a girl roughly his age with ruby red lipstick trying to enter at the same time.
"After you," Adam smiled, holding the door open for her.
The girl smiled back and entered, with Adam following suit. Taking in the sight of the enormous shopping center, the young man ran his hand through his dark hair, contemplating where to go with so many people coming and going. Eventually, his brown eyes focused on a nearby Hollister clothing outlet. Maybe he could find a familiar face there.

Upon entering the store, Adam coughed a little bit after suddenly inhaling the strong aroma of cologne. After a little bit of wandering, he came across a pretty 17-year old blond girl working at the store, wearing a trendy camisole, a flowing skirt, and flip flops.
"Can I help you, sir?" the girl asked.
"Nah, I'm not really interested in anything."
"Well then what are you here for?"
"I dunno, Jess, can't a guy just say hello?" Adam laughed.
Jess's face broke into a smile as she gave him a hug.
"Adam! It's been a while! How was your first year of college?"
"Pretty good, I'd say. I mean, it's still school, so I'm glad to be out," Adam laughed, "How's this new modeling job?"
"Oh it's going great!" Jess responded, "Much better than the last job I had, anyway. Prom cost a pretty penny, so at least this is paying the bills. And I'm having a great time!"
"I thought Lucas would've payed for you," Adam chuckled.
"He offered," Jess stated, "But I wouldn't let him pay for everything. So you never did tell me what you were here for."
Adam shrugged, "A distraction, I guess. I could use some time off after all my studies. Plus, I was thinking we need to get the old group together and arrange something big."
"Yeah!" Jess smiled, "You, me, Lucas, Paige, Josh, and the whole gang!"
"I'd like that," Adam responded, "Anyways, I'm gonna see what else is going on today. I may come back later."
"See you then!"
Adam turned and walked out of the store. As he reached the exit, a man dressed in black burst past him, rudely bumping into him. Just as Adam was about to turn around and give the man a piece of his mind, he heard a disconcerting sound.
A gun cocking.
Adam snuck around to the wall outside as he head the man screaming.
"This is a robbery! Do everything I tell you and no one will get hurt!! Unless one of you pisses me off..."
"Well," Adam thought to himself, "I guess I was right to bring the bag... Fun time's over; it's time to bring him back."
Adam silently made his way into a small employee restroom with his duffel bag, making sure to lock the door behind him. Taking a small container out of his bag, he took a deep breath, looking at the reflection of his brown eyes in the mirror. Working quickly, he widened his eyes and applied the contents of the container. Looking back into the mirror, he observed his own blood-red eyes staring back at him.

Moments later, the Black Falcon, donning his black button-down shirt, pants, fedora, and mask, exited the bathroom.
Heading straight for the crime in progress at the Hollister, he came across a few mall security officers, desperately screaming into their walkie-talkies against the criminal's incessant yelling. Amidst the chaos, the Black Falcon silently pulled aside one of the officers.
"What's going on in there?" he asked.
"Black Falcon," the officer stammered, "A gunman just went in there. He took all the money from the register...and he's got a hostage."
Peeking carefully around the wall into the store, the Falcon observed a troubling sight: the crazed man holding a gun to Jess's head. The terrified girl had her hands handcuffed behind her back and the gunman's free hand clamped over her mouth.
"Don't let him know I'm here," the Black Falcon ordered, "But if he comes out of that store, I'm going after him. Contact the police for the...collection..."
The security man wordlessly nodded and got back on his walkie-talkie. The Black Falcon quickly leapt up to the second level of the mall, hanging on by his hands and pulling himself up, perching on the railing. Looking very much like a falcon stalking prey, the vigilante watched from above as the criminal brought Jess out of the store at gunpoint, threatening her with the weapon while screaming at the bystanders to back off, lest they risk the girl's life. Jess attempted to scream out, though she was now had a sock stuffed in her mouth sealed in with clear tape from the store counter wrapped around her mouth. As the criminal backed out with Jess towards the front doors, the Black Falcon silently walked his way across the second floor railing.
Kicking open the doors behind him, the man exited with Jess in tow. Acting quickly, the Black Falcon dived off the railing, catching himself on a tall foam playground structure on the first floor and climbing down. Keeping himself low, the Falcon followed the two outside.
"This black isn't best for blending into a bright parking lot," the Black Falcon thought as he threw himself behind a car for cover immediately after entering the sunlit outdoor lot.
Switching cover spots, the vigilante tracked the man as he slowly backed up towards the back of the parking lot, threatening a crying bound and gagged Jess. The Black Falcon circled around the entire parking lot, heading towards both his own car and the shady car parked next to it. He had a feeling that that's where the man was heading.
Sure enough, the criminal brought Jess to the car. After taping her ankles together, he prepared to bundle her into the vehicle. However, at that moment the Falcon appeared behind him, slamming his head into the roof of the car.
The man yelled in pain as Jess cried out into her gag. However, much to the vigilante's surprise, the man recovered and turned around almost immediately, firing his gun directly at him. The Black Falcon threw himself out of the way, barely dodging the bullet. Jess let out a muffled scream once more. The criminal approached, pointing his gun directly at the vigilante's head. The Falcon prepared to sweep the man, but he knew there was about a 50/50 chance that the diversion would work.

Suddenly, a figure rolled over the hood of the crook's car, taking the man by surprise and knocking the gun out of his hand from behind. Reacting quickly, the Black Falcon snatched the gun midair and kneed the criminal directly in the face, rendering him unconscious.
"Indigo," the Black Falcon called out to his rescuer, "I'm surprised you came back."
Indigo laughed, "You know I can't avoid you, Falcon."
Without warning, two more men appeared from behind the car and attacked. As the Black Falcon and Indigo fought back to back once more with Jess struggling furiously against her bonds, Indigo spoke up to her crime fighting partner.
"Do you know that girl?"
"Kind of," the Falcon responded, "She knows my alter-ego, but not me."
The two continued to talk casually as the Black Falcon ducked to avoid an attack and Indigo rolled over his back to kick one of the attackers.
"Is she-?" Indigo inquired.
"No," the Black Falcon chuckled, "She's got a boyfriend. She's just a good friend."
"Sure," Indigo laughed, "That's what all lonely guys say."
"You shut up," the Falcon quipped, knocking out one of the men with a single punch.
One high kick from Indigo was enough to put the second man out of commission. Working quickly, Indigo found three extra pairs of handcuffs in the criminal's car and used them to restrain the three crooks. Using the clear tape, she taped the three men together around the torso while the Black Falcon got to work freeing Jess.
"Are you okay?" the Falcon asked, making sure to talk in a slightly lower tone of voice so Jess would not recognize him.
"Yeah..." Jess responded, breathing heavily, "Thank you so much."
The girl threw herself forward into a hug, embracing the Black Falcon and continuing to cry.
"You're safe now," the Falcon reassured her.
"Yeah...I know. Thanks for saving me. You, too," Jess called out to Indigo.
Indigo nodded back while the Black Falcon continued to talk to the poor girl.
"The police will be here soon. They'll make sure everything's okay. And I don't think these guys will be attacking you again any time soon."
Jess managed to let out a laugh, "Yeah."

"Care for a ride?" the Black Falcon said to Indigo, opening his car door.
"Sure," Indigo laughed, entering the passenger seat.
The Black Falcon and Indigo drove off in Ebony as police cars entered the parking lot.
"So..." the Black Falcon said after a bit of silence, "How does it feel to be a hero?"
"Me...?" Indigo wondered out loud, "I'm no hero..."
"We'll see about that," the Black Falcon smiled.

Eighteen year-old Meghan laid undisturbed in her bed. Wearing a black nightie, the brunette slept peacefully, lulled by the crickets chirping in the warm July night. The tranquility of the night was suddenly shattered when a gloved hand was clamped over her mouth. Meghan woke up with a jerk, widening her eyes and attempting to scream into the hand that silenced her. She stopped struggling, though, when she saw three men surrounding her, and the gleam of switchblade knives.
“Easy now, girlie,” one of the men chuckled, “You’re just gonna come for a little ride. You won’t get hurt as long as you don’t piss us off. Understand?”
Frightened and wide-eyed, Meghan silently nodded.
“Good,” the same man said, “Now let us do what we’re gonna do, and we’ll make you more comfortable.”
Panic gripped Meghan when she heard the familiar sound of duct tape being pulled off the roll.

Around the same time, Jess was getting ready for bed. Due to the heat, the blond wore a tight cotton tank top and short shorts. Just as she was brushing her teeth, she heard her doorbell ring. Walking swiftly to the door and opening it, she was surprised to find nobody there. Puzzled, she stepped outside, her bare feet feeling the roughness of the concrete. Seeing and hearing nobody, she shrugged and prepared to go back inside when she was suddenly grabbed. The panicked girl attempted to scream out, but a rag soaked with a sweet-smelling substance was pressed over her nose and mouth, and she began to gradually lose resistance until she passed out altogether. Working quickly, her assailants bundled her into a car and drove off.

“I admit, I’m a little surprised that you wanted to go on patrol with me,” the Black Falcon said, hands relaxed on the wheel of Ebony.
“Why would you be surprised?” Indigo responded from the passenger seat.
“Well you were pretty hasty to deny that you were a hero, especially after you helped me save Jess.”
“Well I’m not a hero,” Indigo said quickly, “I’m just a girl looking out for her own needs.”
“And you’re helping me anyways, so who am I to question you...” the Black Falcon muttered.
Indigo went silent and began to look through some papers around the car.
“Les Miserables...” she said, reading off of a few sheets of paper, “So you’d say you’re around a baritone, Falcon? Or are you more of a tenor?”
“Will you stop rummaging through stuff in my car?!”
“Fine,” Indigo said sweetly, “It’s obvious that someone’s a little touchy today.”
The two continued to drive in silence until Indigo got a suspicious look in her eyes.
“Stop the car, Falcon.”
The vigilante stopped driving, “What is it?”
“I see a guy on the rooftops...”
“Well what’s he doing?”
“It looks like...it looks like he’s watching us...”
“Alright,” the Black Falcon said, handing the girl a small piece of paper, “Maybe you should check it out. Let me give you my cell number so we can keep in contact.”
“You’re giving a girl your number? Aw, how sweet.”
“And Indigo,” the Falcon said sternly, “When you contact me through this number, I want you to only address me as the Black Falcon. The last thing I want to do is answer my phone cheerfully declaring my secret identity.”
“Still so secretive... Fine, I’ll honor your wishes. I’ll contact you if anything goes wrong.”
The Black Falcon kept the car in the shadows and the headlights dimmed while Indigo scaled the building to the rooftop. However, when she got there, the rooftop was completely empty. Keeping her eyes on the spot where the man was, she pulled out her cell phone and dialed the Black Falcon’s number.
“Falcon,” she said.
“Indigo..using my number already. What is it?”
“There’s nobody here. I climbed the building as quickly as I could, but it looks like the guy just...vanished.......hello...?.....Falcon??”
After a moment of silence, the Black Falcon’s voice came on the other end, “Indigo...I think we’ve got another problem.”
Back on street level, the Black Falcon stared wide-eyed at a vehicle about three car-lengths in front of him. Although the windows were slightly tinted, the vigilante, using his extremely gifted eyesight, could clearly see two familiar figures in the backseat, staring frantically back at him through the back windshield.
Jess...and Meghan...
And even more disconcertingly, they were both gagged with several pieces of duct tape over their mouths.

Sure enough, Jess and Meghan sat in the back seat of a strange vehicle, securely bound and gagged with duct tape. Their wrists were taped behind their back palm to palm, from their fingers to slightly above their wrists. Duct tape pinned their arms to their bodies around their torsos above and below their breasts. And their bare legs were taped from their ankles all the way up to below their knees, with several layers of the silver duct tape wrapped tightly around their thighs as well. Wide-eyed, they both cried out under their gags, shouting muffled cries for help to the Black Falcon, who was so close behind them.
“Well,” a smug voice called out from the driver’s seat, “It seems we’ve got your hero’s attention. Let’s take him on a ride, shall we??”
“MMMNNN!!!” Jess shouted.
“Mmmmmbbmmm hmmmmm mmhhhmmmmm!!!” Meghan yelled.

The car with the two captive girls roared away at top speed. The Black Falcon quickly turned his own car on and took off after them.
“Damn it,” Indigo cursed, “Falcon, you follow them. I’ll keep an eye from the rooftops.”
With great speed and agility, Indigo took off sprinting across the rooftops, keeping a close eye on the enemy car. The two vehicles were driving on a complicated web of downtown Chicago’s back streets; it was practically a maze. Indigo suddenly noticed the criminals’ car veer off to the left down another street. She leapt across an alleyway, following them as she shouted to her ally via cell phone.
“Left!” She yelled, “They’re going left!”
“Got it.”
The Black Falcon swerved left as well, picking up as much speed as possible to close the gap in between the two cars. Without warning, the thugs’ car took off screaming down another side way.
“Falcon,” Indigo said, leaping between buildings and running across the tops, “The car’s going left, then right, then left, then left again.
“They think they’ll lose me that easily,” the vigilante stated through gritted teeth.

Meanwhile, the bound and gagged Jess and Meghan were trying to keep steady, gripping the leather of the car seats with their toes - the only completely free part of their body. However, the car’s veering and swerving were causing them to be bucked around in their seats like sacks of potatoes, sliding and bucking into one another.
“Isn’t this fun, girls?” one of the sadistic thugs shouted from the passenger seat.
“MmmmmMMMmmm!!” both hostages shouted.
“We’re certainly having fun,” the crook that was driving said, “And since you didn’t tell us what we need to know, we’ll have fun watching the pain in the Falcon’s eyes as we take you away from him...”
Both girls suddenly stopped struggling as they digested the criminal’s words. Fully realizing the gravity of the situation, tears began to freely roll down the girls’ faces, soaking their gags.

After being led on more and more twists and turns, the Black Falcon finally cornered the car on a long and straight road. His prey picked up speed as the Falcon did the same. Just as the Falcon was about to reach the enemy car, their vehicle stopped short. In a panic, the vigilante slammed on his brake pedal, causing his head to collide with the steering wheel. Luckily, his fedora absorbed a lot of the impact. However, the Black Falcon’s gaze was fuzzy. When his sight finally cleared up, he noticed the girls being taken into a nearby building. Gripping his head in pain, the Black Falcon stumbled out of his car, slammed the door, and locked it. Attempting to steady himself, the vigilante latched onto the brick wall of the building, slowly breathing in and out and stabilizing himself. Once he got his bearings again, he noticed that his cell phone was still intact.
“Falcon!” Indigo’s voice called.
“You sound worried about me,” the Black Falcon managed to chuckle.
“Are you alright??”
“I’ll be okay. The men took Jess and Meghan into that building over there. I’m going in after them.”
Before Indigo could say anything else, the Falcon hung up and entered the building.
Walking cautiously and keeping to the shadows, he managed to locate the sobbing bound and gagged girls sitting in the middle of the floor, furiously struggling against their duct tape bonds under the watchful gaze of two crooks who were taking their time preparing their knives.

“He’s here, I know it,” one of the thugs said, “We might as well do it now. After all, there’s no use for these girls anymore.”
“Shame we’ll have to waste such pretty chicks, but like the boss would say, business comes first!”
“But we could always make this personal,” a voice growled out from behind the two crooks.
With that, their heads were violently slammed together from behind. The Black Falcon’s red eyes shone out in the gloom as the girls watched through tear-filled eyes, crying out into their gags in relief.
“Hey, I’m sure you remember me,” the Black Falcon said, “I’m here to rescue you...again.”
The room then suddenly filled with several thugs.
“Well what do you know,” one of the criminals chuckled, “the trap worked perfectly.”
The Black Falcon calmly stretched out his limbs, “Couldn’t have said it better myself.”
Without warning, the vigilante dived into the gang of criminals, throwing out attacks left and right, dodging and weaving through the mob’s incessant attacks. The Black Falcon fought for keeps, lashing out at his opponents’ weak spots while utilizing their own attacks against them. Darting through the crowd, the Falcon incapacitated roughly half of the criminals, using the shadows and his own speed and agility to his advantage.
Slipping away from the heat of combat, one thug ran in a panic towards the duct taped girls, hoping to use them as hostages. However, before he could reach them, Indigo dived down from the high rafters, making short work of the thug. She quickly dived into the mix along with her crime fighting partner.
“Nice of you to join us, Indigo,” the Black Falcon called out, dealing crushing body and face punches to an unlucky goon.
“Couldn’t let you have all the fun, Falcon,” Indigo responded, her ruby red lips curling into a smile.
With the two fighting side by side, the Black Falcon and Indigo made short work of the criminals.
“The prison’s gonna be standing room only tonight, I see,” Indigo joked, wiping the dust off of her hands.
“Yeah,” the Black Falcon chuckled lightly, “The police are going to have one hell of a surprise waiting for them.”
Suddenly getting serious, he approached the girls, who were still crying softly.
“Don’t worry,” he said, gently peeling their gags off, “You’re safe now.”
As he untied the girls using a fallen criminal’s switchblade knife, the Black Falcon questioned the two kidnapped girls.
“What did these guys want you for?”
“They knew you saved us before,” Meghan said.
Still holding back tears, Jess continued, “And they threatened to kill us unless we told them your secret identity...”
Indigo, who had been listening, walked forward silently.
“This has to stop,” the Black Falcon stated, his eyes narrowed, “Cray’s been going after innocents long enough.”
“So they wanted to know your secret identity?” Indigo inquired.
“Yes,” the Black Falcon responded quietly, “These girls don’t know it, though. But it’s only a matter of time until Cray succeeds. It looks like he’s rekidnapping people I’ve already saved to learn my real identity....Indigo, I’ve got to end this. People are getting hurt and threatened with death over me.”
“I know we do,” Indigo said softly, “But for now, we’ve got to make sure these girls are safe.”

As the Black Falcon comforted the girls and helped them into his car, Indigo watched from just outside the building. Suddenly, a figure with shining blue eyes held a silver pistol to her head.
“Nice work...” John Cray said quietly into Indigo’s ear, “...for a thief.”
“What do you want, Cray?” Indigo whispered intensely.
“To make a proposition. I’m a man with lots of resources. And I’d be glad to split some of these resources with you...”
“If...?”
“If you betray your friend here. And there’s no use getting noble...money’s money after all.”
Indigo said nothing, merely looking back at John Cray.
“I’ll give you some time to think about it,” Cray said, backing up into the shadows, “By the way, don’t tell him I was here...or I’ll be forced to kill all of you right now. And that would be awfully counter-productive...”
John Cray chuckled softly as he disappeared into the night.

Things just seem to get more dangerous all the time. Better hope you can still keep going.
From whence I came and whence I went heaven said I was too evil and sent me to hell. Demons and devils succeeded in breaking my soul.

One day later...

"Great night for stargazing, isn't it, Falcon?" Indigo casually inquired, leaning back on the rooftop.
"I guess it would be," the Black Falcon responded.
Indigo sat up and noticed that her crime-fighting partner had hardly moved a muscle in the past two hours. Approaching cautiously, she began to gently massage his shoulders.
"You're tense," she stated matter-of-factly.
"Yeah," the young man sighed, "Being constantly on the lookout for the safety of your friends and loved ones will do that to you."
Indigo continued to attempt to sooth the vigilante, "You'll get him, hero. It's okay to be cautious, but worrying yourself to death won't make anything easier."
The Black Falcon let out another sigh and began to relax, letting his head drop down slightly and allowing Indigo to massage his upper back and shoulders. Suddenly, the man tensed up, gritting his teeth in pain. Indigo quickly took her hands away in alarm.
"What is it?" she asked.
"Well...you know that this isn't my first encounter with Cray. Our first battle kind of left a mark on me."
"Didn't you win that battle?"
The Black Falcon chuckled, "Yeah, but the guy's tricky. He got me real good across the back."
"Ooh," Indigo winced, "I'm sorry about that, Falcon."
"It's okay," the Black Falcon said, "I'm planning on getting him back when I see him again."
He turned to Indigo, and noticed something odd - something that he had never really noticed before.
Her eyes.
Her right eye seemed to be blue while her left eye was green. The vigilante wondered why he hadn't spotted it before, but also noted that she had made an effort to conceal this with her mask as well as eye makeup. She obviously didn't want him to know, so he made sure to take a mental note of it, turning back around to observe the streets.
Once it neared the early morning, the Black Falcon got up, startling Indigo when he finally moved from his position.
"I'll see you tomorrow, Indigo," he said.
Without another word, he left the roof and took off down the street in Ebony. As the sound of the roaring engine faded away, Indigo looked over her shoulder and slowly stood up, holding a small GPS.
"Sorry, Falcon," she thought out loud as the GPS displayed Ebony's position with a small dot, "But I couldn't resist."

Roughly an hour and a half later, as the sun was about to rise, Indigo found herself sneaking through an unassuming suburban neighborhood.
"Didn't expect someone like the Falcon to live here," she thought, "Now the question is, where can he be?"
Suddenly, the thief heard faint piano music coming from one house. Moving swiftly and silently, she approached the window of the house where the music was coming from. As she heard the piano music more clearly, she also heard the sound of a male singing along with the piano. Looking into the window, Indigo observed a young man, maybe around 19 or 20, playing a grand piano and singing a melody to go along with his own accompaniment. The man had dark brown hair, familiar black clothes, and blood-red eyes.
"So," Indigo said to herself as she enjoyed the music, "It seems I've found the stoic and mysterious Black Falcon."
She remained, listening to the music as night changed into day. Still not noticing the masked woman outside the window, the man got up from the piano and moved upstairs. Indigo quickly scaled the wall and made it onto the roof, where she got a view from another window. This time she saw the same man walking out from the bathroom, except his eyes were a deep brown rather than the red she was familiar with. Turning his back to the window, the man unbuttoned his shirt and removed it. It took all Indigo had to avoid letting out a gasp, as she observed a long scar across his back, left there by a deep knife wound. As the man behind the Falcon continued to get ready for bed, Indigo noticed people in the neighborhood starting their days. Making sure nobody noticed her, she made a quick exit.

The next day, Adam woke up late in the afternoon. If he was going to maintain these late nights as the Black Falcon, he needed to keep his energy up. And for the moment, there was only one solution - coffee.
Getting into his car, Adam took off towards the city Starbucks. Perhaps he could meet up with some friends in the city as well. Lately he needed all the support he could get. Parking his car and entering the Starbucks, he ordered his drink and surveyed the restaurant for empty seats. He eventually found one at a table occupied by a blond girl roughly his age sitting by herself. He suddenly stopped short when he noticed this woman. There was something about her shoulder-length blond hair, or her body, or her ruby red lipstick, or something... Wearing a white blouse, a black skirt, and black nylons with black heels, she just seemed familiar to him. That's when he saw her eyes. One eye blue and one eye green. This was her, alright.
"Mind if I sit down?" Adam inquired, noticing her eyes widen a bit when she saw him.
"Um, yeah, sure," she stammered.
Adam sat down and began to take sips of his coffee, all while observing the girl.
"Sorry, were you waiting for friends or something? I could always move."
"No," she responded, "No, I'm not waiting for anybody. You're fine."
He smiled, extending his hand, "The name's Adam, by the way."
"Iris," she responded, shaking his hand.
"So is that name intentional?" Adam chuckled.
"Oh," she said, "You mean my eyes?"
Adam nodded, "I'm sorry if you're not okay with me bringing that up."
"It's fine," Iris responded, "Yeah, the name's intentional. I've got heterochromia."
"Well I personally find that extremely cool."
"You do?"
"Of course," Adam smiled again.
A few moments of silence passed. Adam decided to make a different approach.
"Wait a minute," he said, "I've seen you before!"
Iris's eyes widened again, "You did, did you?"
"Yeah!" he said, "You were at the mall! I'd recognize that red lipstick anywhere. It was the same day that the Black Falcon saved that girl from the Hollister, remember?"
"Oh, right. I remember," she said quickly.
"Come to think of it, I've been seeing the Black Falcon a lot on the news recently. Him and some other girl. I believe she calls herself Indigo?"
"Yeah..." Iris responded, "Imagine that..."
They both drank in silence a little more before Iris got up.
"I've got to get going to work," she said, "It was nice meeting you."
"Likewise," Adam responded, "Maybe I'll see you around sometime."
"Yeah, maybe."
Without another word, Iris got up and left. Finishing his drink, Adam waited a few moments, then swiftly made his way outside, following Iris from a distance. The two walked a couple blocks, Iris unaware of Adam's presence. When both were alone on one street, Iris suddenly tripped on the sidewalk, only to land forward into a perfectly-executed roll on impact. She stood up, dusted herself off, and kept walking. Adam smiled. This was definitely her.

Later that night, the Black Falcon and Indigo once again sat on a building for a midnight watch. The Falcon noticed that Indigo wasn't her talkative, flirty self.
"Something distracting you, Indigo?" he inquired.
"Oh no...nothing...."
The Falcon waited a moment. Then he decided to take the plunge.
"So I didn't know you spent your afternoons at Starbucks."
"I didn't know you wore green boxers."
Both turned to each other. Another brief moment of silence passed.
"Iris," the Black Falcon said.
"Adam," she responded quickly.
The Black Falcon sighed, "Well, it seems the secret's out now."
"Yeah..." Indigo responded, "And now that you mention it, this mask is getting kind of itchy.
With that, Indigo removed her mask as the Black Falcon removed his, along with his black fedora.
"I don't know why you try to hide your heterochromia," Adam said after another pause, "It's cool as hell."
"Well now, I only hide it as Indigo. You've got a great singing voice, by the way."
Adam sighed again, "So you followed me home, did you?"
Iris smiled, "Guilty as charged."
"So I don't think we really finished our conversation at the coffee shop," Adam continued, "You said you were going to work. Where is that exactly?"
"I work as a manager's assistant at a big company," Iris said. There wasn't much point in keeping many secrets anymore.
"Seems like a good job," Adam said.
"I guess so..."
"Now my question is...why do you steal if you've got such a comfortable life?"
Indigo sighed, "You think I need the money or the valuables? My life is boring, Falcon. I do what I do for the thrill. I'm sure you can understand...what do you do?"
"Me?" Adam responded, "I'm a college student. Currently on break now. I mean, you can probably see just how much time I have on my hands lately."
"So what about you, Adam?" Iris inquired, "What great tragedy happened in your life to turn you to the path of stoic, vengeful crime-fighting?"
Adam thought long and hard, his red eyes narrowing.
"Nothing," he said.
"Your parents?"
"Alive and well."
"Your upbringing?"
"Normal, healthy, and boring as can be."
"Then why are you dressing up to fight crime?"
"Well....." Adam answered, "Partially the same reason as you...to make my life a little more interesting. And...well for God sake, Iris, I'm a college student on the path to becoming a music teacher. I just feel this urge to be something more. I need to make something of my life. I know the police can do their job, and I know that crime fighting is insanely dangerous. I don't do it for vengeance, or fame, or recognition...I do it for me. I am the Black Falcon."
A crash suddenly rang out in the night, followed by several panicked voices. Adam quickly stood up and donned his mask and fedora.
"And duty calls."

The Black Falcon and Indigo (ft. KittyReaper) - Part 9

"Attention students: We ask that you remain calm and do not panic. Stay quiet and lock your doors and windows. We are in lockdown. I repeat, we are in lockdown."
Adam's eyes flew open. Slowly and groggily, he sat up in bed. These long midday naps were taking a toll on him. Looking out the window, he saw that night had already begun to fall on the college campus. As he got out of bed, he neared the window, faintly hearing panicked yelling from outside. The lockdown message then repeated itself. What was going on??
Opening the door into the hallway, Adam walked into the bright light to see several fellow students running in a frenzy. He walked down the hallway a bit and eventually came to the room of another student, Chris.
"Chris," Adam inquired, 'What's going on?"
"Last I heard, there are some escaped criminals all over campus."
"Escaped criminals? You're kidding me!! Is anyone doing anything about this?"
"Hell if I know, man," Chris shook his head, "I guess the police are trying to do something, but for some reason, it doesn't look like anything's working."
Adam suddenly spotted something nearby on Chris's desk.
"I see," he narrowed his eyes, "I'll talk to you later."
Adam quickly moved back down the hallway to his room, carrying the item from Chris's room in his hands - the black long nose venetian mask that he had worn on halloween. As he looked into the mask, it seemed that another entity had taken over. It was almost as if Adam had completely lost control of what he was doing, acting purely on instinct. His one sole thought was that something had to be done. As he re-entered his room and locked the door behind him, his heart started pounding faster. He quickly looked through his drawers for the darkest, most light clothing he could find. He eventually settled on a black button-down shirt, black dress pants, and black shoes, throwing them on without even thinking of the insanity of what he was about to do. Looking into the mirror, he once again held the mask in his hands. Taking a deep breath, he put the mask on. Spying a black fedora on his desk, he grabbed that and donned it as well. Looking into the mirror again, it was almost as if a completely different person was staring back.
In full costume, Adam silently slipped out of the room. Crouching low, he dashed down the hallway to the stairwell before anybody could see him. As he charged down the stairwell and outside, he began to hear the screams more clearly. They seemed to be coming from the fitness center a short distance away.

In front of the Wellness Center, two men were closely guarding the heavily-packed building, both men carrying handguns to make sure the students they kept penned in wouldn't do anything funny.
"Now nobody move. The boss wants you all right here," one criminal said to the crowd of trapped students.
"Yeah," another thug added, "He'd like you all to see the fireworks..."
"Is it July already?" a voice crooned into the man's ear.
Immediately, the masked Adam wrapped his arms around the criminal's throat, squeezing tighter and tighter until the gunman slipped into unconsciousness. Dropping the criminal on the ground, Adam rapidly dived away, barely avoiding the second gunman's bullet. He crouched low, attempting to circle around the crook. However, the man kept his gun trained on him the whole time. Adam had to think of a new strategy.
Suddenly, a muscular student from the crowd stepped forward and attempted to put the thug in a headlock. While the criminal struggled with him, Adam charged forward, drilling the man with a punch in the jaw, followed by a disabling strike to the wrist, knocking the gun out of his hand. After a few more devastating punches, Adam grabbed the man and threw him down in front of him.
"Who's this boss of yours?" Adam demanded, leaning down low over him.
"You think I'm gonna tell you?"
Adam threw another strike at the man, barely stopping before he hit his trachea, as the man flinched in fear.
"We could always do this the hard way," Adam growled.
"Fine...the boss's name is Johnathan Cray. He's the head of all the crime around here."
"I figured," Adam said, "What's he planning?"
The man laughed, "We've got bombs all over campus. And there's nothing you can do about them."
Adam roughly threw the criminal back down on the concrete and began to walk away.
"Do with them what you will," he called out to the students, "And then get out of here, before these psychos set any bombs off."

Adam continued on down the pathway, looking out for more crooks. Suddenly, he heard panicked footsteps and screaming behind him. He quickly scaled the tree next to him, getting a view from above of what was going on. What he saw was a large man, carrying a girl struggling in his grasp in a short dress and heels. The poor girl was bound hand and foot with ropes. Several pieces of duct tape were plastered over her mouth, muffling her cries for help. Looking closer, Adam's eyes widened. He recognized the girl's brown hair and eyes. One of his friends from back home and a fellow student - Sami.
It took all Adam had to avoid revealing his position and attacking the criminal at that exact moment. However, he willed himself to stay quiet as the man pinned Sami to the tree, looking deep into her eyes.
"You've been a bad girl," he said, "Running away from me like that. Shame I had to tie you up like this, but it's the only way I could keep you still."
"Nnnmmmpphh!!!" Sami responded, tears beginning to form in her eyes.
"But now we've got all the time in the world...looks like I'm gonna have to teach you a lesson."
Adam clenched his fists. This was definitely the moment. Diving down from the tree, he threw a hard punch at the man's lower jaw.
"You can always teach me a lesson," Adam growled, "Come on, I'm all ears."
The thug let go of his captive, turning around and walking towards Adam. Showing no mercy, Adam charged forwards and threw several quick punches at the criminal, dodging away and circling him as he tried to hit back. The man eventually lunged forwards, attempting to grab Adam in a bear hug. Charging up to meet him, the young man threw a brutal punch at the man's throat. Clutching his neck, the man kneeled down as Adam threw a rising knee kick at his face. Barely conscious, the man couldn't resist as Adam grabbed him by the neck and pinned him to the tree the man had pinned Sami to.
"Where's Cray??" Adam insisted.
"I'm not-"
The crook was interrupted by another punch to the face.
"You know, I'm really tired of hearing that from you punks. Now where's Cray??"
The man coughed, "He's at the construction site."
"Thanks," Adam scoffed, slamming the man's head into the tree trunk and letting his unconscious body slide down onto the ground. Kneeling down, he untied Sami's wrists and ankles.
"I hope you're alright," he said, "But I've got to get going. There's another criminal to catch."
With that, the masked man began to move further down the path. Looking back at the girl, he noticed a look of recognition in her eyes over her gag. As the two locked eyes, Adam had a good feeling that Sami knew who he really was. There was no time to think about that, though, as he turned back around and sprinted down the path towards the construction site.

Night had finally fallen completely, allowing Adam to blend more easily into the shadows as he approached the future site of the new student activities center, still a sprawling three story mass of steel frame and wooden floors. He knew this was the right place, as he could hear the frantic shouting of policemen towards the top of the structure. As Adam swiftly and silently made his way closer and closer, he finally made out the man behind all of this, standing triumphantly at the top of the construction site, holding a detonator in his hands - John Cray. Cray wore a black leather jacket, black pants, and a brown holster at his hip with a menacing-looking silver pistol. Just looking at him, Adam felt a sense of unease. Cray's blue eyes focused on the assorted policemen below him.
"Play nice and easy, boys," he chuckled, "Or this whole school goes up in flames."
Adam drew a sharp breath. This guy was a madman. And for some twisted reason, here he was - a college student with nothing but karate, krav maga, and parkour to back him up - and somehow he was the only one who could stop this man. Adam worked hard to banish that thought from his mind, clenching his fists and heading towards the base of the structure. Working as fast he could, with the pressing knowledge that time was of the essence, he scaled the steel framing faster than he had ever imagined he could.
Eventually, he found himself standing directly behind Cray. His element of surprise could only last so longs, as the cops were beginning to notice him as well. Not giving his actions any second thought, Adam dived for Cray, wrapping an arm around his throat from behind and using his other hand to grab for the detonator. Getting that thing out of his hand was the number one priority. The two struggled for a bit, straining against each other's grip. Adam watched in horror as Cray's finger moved closer and closer to the button on the detonator. Giving one final jerk against Cray's throat, Adam distracted him long enough to throw the detonator out of his hand and off of the construction site. The cops below eagerly retrieved the detonator.
"Find those bombs!!" Adam shouted to them, "I've got this!!"
With a sudden snarl, Cray threw an elbow directly into Adam's stomach, knocking his breath out and causing the masked man to release him. With wrath in his piercing blue eyes, he turned around and punched Adam directly in his face while he was stunned. As soon as he caught full view of his assailant, Cray began to smile.
"Who are you supposed to be?" he inquired.
"Well I could be wrong," Adam breathed heavily, "But I think I'm the guy who just destroyed your well-laid plans."
Cray still retained his smile, but Adam could have sworn he caught a brief eye twitch.
"You think I haven't dealt with idiots like you before?" he advanced upon Adam, putting his hand to his gun holster.
Adam had to react quickly. He knew from martial arts training that if he pulled that gun fully out of his holster, there wouldn't be a second chance. Taking a deep breath, Adam charged forward, nailing Cray with a face punch and two body punches. The man managed to pull the gun out, but Adam threw a sharp strike at his wrist, knocking the gun out of his hands. Expecting Cray to reach for the gun, Adam attempted to kick it out of the way. However, Cray let out a chuckle and uppercut Adam on the jaw, causing him to reel backwards, barely prepared for an onslaught of body punches. Crazy or not, this guy could fight. Kept on the defensive, Adam hardly had any time to block each attack before the next one came. As Cray began to back him up to the edge of the construction site, Adam began to hear reporters and more policemen converging on the ground below.
"The police have found and disabled nearly all of the bombs, and are well on their way to finishing the job," one reporter was saying, "However, one final element is in play. The criminal known as Johnathan Cray, the mastermind behind this attack, is now facing a mysterious masked man in combat - a man the police are now referring to as the 'Black Falcon.' Officers are refraining from firing their weapons, as the combat is so close and heated that they might hit the Falcon. More developments to come."
Adam continued to hold off the barrage of punches, finally managing to counter with a few of his own. Now that he was back on the offensive, the young man was able to move the fight away from the ledge. The fist fight continued, until Cray threw an unexpected shin kick, distracting Adam long enough to wrap his hands around his throat and press him against a wall. Adam struggled against the man's grip, looking directly into his smirking face as the life was being slowly squeezed out of him. Attempting one final move, he threw a shin kick at Cray, causing him to wince and move his attention from Adam's arm, which shot upwards and slammed down on both of Cray's wrists. Now that the madman's hands were away from his throat, Adam was able to retaliate by wrapping his arm around the back of Cray's head and slamming his face into his knee. The smirk disappeared from Cray's face as he yelled out in rage and threw one more punch. Adam dodged away from it, circling around Cray, placing both of his hands on the back of his head, and slamming the man's head into the wall with all his might.
John Cray slumped against the wall, blood beginning to trickle down his face. Satisfied that the fight was over, Adam turned around and faced the cops below. He then heard a chuckle from behind him. Adam was too late to react as Cray withdrew a knife from his belt and, with the last of his strength, made a wide slash across Adam's back. The masked man screamed in pain as Cray prepared to stab downwards into his back. Attempting to ignore the pain, he turned around, blocked the knife with a rising block, and slammed Cray in the jaw with an unforgiving hook punch, knocking the criminal off his feet.

Gritting his teeth in pain, Adam backed up again, this time still facing Cray's direction. However, the crook was too beaten to fight anymore. Instead, he merely laughed.
"You're dead, you know," the man smiled, "You may think that you beat me, but I'll find a way to get out of this. Your friends, your family, your loved ones...they're all dead. Believe me, 'Falcon,' you have no idea what you just did... I'm coming for you, and nothing's gonna stop me. Nothing is EVER going to stop me!"

Adam woke up with a jolt. Lunging for the light switch, he turned it on and stumbled out of bed. He headed directly for his closet, pulling out his Black Falcon mask and holding in his hands, breathing heavily. Since that day he had first donned that mask, he often dreamed about it. But he had never dreamed of that day with so much clarity before. There was only one meaning for this. Somewhere deep down, Adam knew that this was all about to end soon.

Wow! I just read the whole lot at once - this is seriously awesome! Cannot wait to see what happens next!

The Black Falcon and Indigo (ft. KittyReaper) - Part 10

Postby The Black Falcon » Sat Jun 23, 2012 11:55 pm

Indigo crouched on top of a high building, keeping a watchful eye on the jewelry store as the sun began to set.
“The store will close soon,” she thought to herself, “And then I’ll be able to make my move. Sorry Falcon…but old habits die hard.”
She watched carefully as the owner of the store exited the building and locked the door behind him. Standing up to prepare to rob the place, Indigo’s keen ears suddenly picked up voices from the alleyway behind her. She almost wanted to think nothing of it and continue her mission. However, she soon picked up what they were saying.
“P-please!” a young female voice cried out, “I’ve told you everything. Just please let me go!!!”
Iris’s eyes widened. Tearing herself away from the task at hand, she cautiously approached the other side of the building, where she looked down upon a dark alleyway with a large van parked in it. Two men were interrogating a young brown-haired woman pinned against the wall. The girl was tightly bound with several ropes, including a tight breastharness further pinning her arms against her back.
“I’m afraid we can’t let you go just yet,” one of the kidnappers replied, “Now that we know the Falcon’s secret identity, we’re going to twist the knife in one more time before we permanently end him.”
“HEL-MMMMMPHHHH!!!” the girl cried out before a rag was stuffed in her mouth and held in by the second thug clamping a strong hand over her mouth.
Before Indigo could do anything, the two men bundled the girl into the van, driving off with their prisoner.
The thief stood stunned for a moment on the roof before snapping back into action.
“I’ve got to warn the Falcon,” she muttered after a pause, immediately taking off towards Adam’s house.

Hearing noises from upstairs, Adam got off the treadmill. Despite his iPod headphones blasting heavy metal into his ears, he could still pick up the sound of rustling in the kitchen. However, nobody was home besides him. Moving swiftly and deliberately, Adam threw on a black t-shirt from the dryer and took a quick swig from his water bottle before walking up the stairs, checking for any more noises. All the young man heard now was silence. Mentally preparing himself for combat, Adam burst through the door, finding nothing but a package on the kitchen table. Curious, Adam approached the package. Written on the package in black sharpie was his name and address. Grabbing a knife from a drawer, he opened the package and observed the contents.
Inside the box was a plain DVD disc with “Important Information” written on it. Adam began to get suspicious as he slid the disc into his DVD player. When he saw what was on the screen, though, his suspicion immediately turned into dread.
John Cray stared directly at him through the television screen.
“Hello, Black Falcon. Actually, do you mind if I call you Adam? We’ve known each other long enough for me to call you that, right?” Cray laughed.
Adam’s blood ran cold.
“Well I think it’s great that we can know each other that much better now,” Cray continued, “And I know your address also, as you can tell. So let’s just say I’ll be sending you a lot more packages…”
Adam’s fists clenched to fight against the fear and pure rage. Suddenly, Indigo entered the house from the upstairs window, running up to him.
“Adam!” she shouted.
However, she stopped short when she saw Adam staring silently at the television screen.
“And Falcon,” Cray went on, “You haven’t heard the best part yet….I owe all this information to your ‘friend,’ Indigo…”
Adam was still too stunned to speak, though Indigo now also stood frozen in the spot.
“It didn’t take much money to convince her to give me the info, Falcon. She is a thief, after all. But then again, you can hardly blame her. An opportunity’s an opportunity.”
After more tense silence, Indigo spoke up.
“Falcon-“
However, she was interrupted by a muffled cry on the TV. Both the Black Falcon and Indigo turned their attention to the TV, where they saw the same girl that Indigo had seen earlier that night, tightly bound with ropes and gagged with several pieces of duct tape.
“Sami…” Adam spoke up for the first time.
Cray’s voice could be heard over her frantic struggling.
“Now that I know your secret identity, Falcon, it’s so much easier to go after your loved ones. This lucky lady will get to know first hand of your downfall. Which reminds me, expect a few visitors. We should be seeing each other again very soon…”
Cray laughed one more time, then the video went to static.
Indigo put her hand on Adam’s shoulder.
“Adam…you’ve got to believe me! I-“
“No, Iris,” Adam said, still facing the television, “I was wrong.”
Adam suddenly turned around and grabbed Indigo’s arm.
“I was wrong to think that you were anything more than a greedy, remorseless, thief.”
Indigo’s eyes widened as she tried to pull her arm away. However, Adam held her tight. One look at Adam’s eyes told Iris everything: even though he was unmasked and out of costume, Adam was not standing in front of her. The Black Falcon had taken over.
He started to squeeze tighter around her arm, causing her to gasp in pain. In a confused panic, Indigo threw a strike at Adam’s head, which the young man blocked with ease. Mad with rage, Adam pushed her towards the stairs, menacingly backing her down them into the basement. After clenching up his fists, Adam threw a few furious punches at Indigo. She blocked them all and threw a half-hearted kick back, which Adam blocked with ease.
“Adam!!” she screamed, “Please!! Listen to me!”
Adam rushed forward and grabbed her by her shirt collar.
“No, you listen to me!!! Do you have any idea what you did to me?!?”
With a mighty shove, Adam threw her against the treadmill, continuing to shout at her.
“You’ve made me the target of a criminal empire. Me, my friends, and my family are all doomed because of what you did!!!”
Before Indigo could recover, Adam grabbed a roll of duct tape from the basement cabinet and charged her, throwing her on the ground and forcing her left wrist against one of the legs of the treadmill, taping it in place. Indigo, still caught off-guard by the sudden assault, tried to move her free hand to her taped wrist. However, the Black Falcon roughly grabbed her right wrist and slammed it against the opposite leg of the treadmill, taping it up as well.
“How much money did Cray pay you, Indigo? How much did it take to compromise me forever?!”
“I didn’t-!”
“SHUT UP!!!!” the Black Falcon yelled, wrapping several layers of duct tape around her mouth.
Oblivious to Indigo’s muffled protests, Adam wrapped Indigo’s ankles together and wound the duct tape up her legs to her knees. With fury in his eyes, Adam prepared to tape her up more. However, the sound of broken glass caused both the Black Falcon and Indigo to go silent.
“This is it, I guess,” Adam stated quietly, “Cray’s men are already at my doorstep. And now it’s my duty to go deal with them…alone. For your sake, Indigo, you’d better get free and out of my sight by the time I get back, before I have you arrested.”
Determined and still angry, Adam began to slowly walk up the stairs. Before reaching the top of the stairs, Adam turned around to face Iris one more time. Fishing into his pocket, he pulled out the stolen black diamond and tossed it in front of her.
“Here,” he said coldly, “It’s all you ever wanted in the first place.”
Turning his back to his former ally, he threw open the door to the kitchen and slammed it behind him.

Taking a few cautious steps into the kitchen, Adam was immediately jumped by a man pressing him against the basement door with his hands around his throat. Without any warning, Adam lashed out with both hands, digging his thumbs into the criminal’s eyes. Screaming in pain, the man let go of Adam and backed off. However, the Black Falcon would not let him get off with just damaged eyes. Charging forward, the vigilante decked him with a curve punch and threw his elbow directly into the guy’s jaw, knocking him out. As the crook’s unconscious body fell to the floor, two more thugs charged. Deflecting both of their attacks, Adam threw a brutal punch into one of the criminals’ throats, back kicking the second criminal’s groin with all his might. Showing no mercy, the Black Falcon grabbed both of their heads as they yelled out in agony and slammed them into the solid granite table in the middle of the room, rendering them unconscious. Adam continued to fight more and more criminals as they seemed to be coming out of nowhere. After fighting off most of the crooks, he was suddenly caught off-guard when yet another man stepped out of hiding and punched him in the back of the head. Before Adam could recover, the man pressed his head down against the kitchen counter. Blocking all of the Falcon’s attacks, the crook punched him in the gut a few times and pressed him back down against the counter. Still held down against the counter, Adam saw the thug begin to pull out a gun from the corner of his eye. Growling in rage, Adam lashed out, grabbing a knife from the counter, whipping around, and slashing the criminal’s throat. Adam saw the shock in the man’s eyes as his life slipped away. His assailant finally fell dead on the floor, and Adam’s attention focused to the window, where he saw the abandoned Humvee that the criminals had taken to his house. Adam’s eyes narrowed.
This was all going to end tonight.

In the basement, Indigo struggled furiously against her bonds and screamed into her gag. Eventually, due to Adam’s rushed and somewhat-shoddy binding, she managed to get one of her hands free. Working quickly, she freed the rest of her body and pulled off her gag, wincing in pain as the tape clung to her skin and some of her hair. Standing up, her eyes focused on the diamond. Turning away from the gem, she ran up the stairs. Opening the door, she came across the Black Falcon, in full costume and mask, walking out of the front door. Adam looked back one more time, contemplating Indigo with his blood red eyes before leaving the house and locking the door behind him. Running upstairs and climbing onto the roof using a window, Indigo looked on from above as the Black Falcon brought the bodies into the large armored Humvee, pinpointed Cray’s coordinates using the vehicle’s GPS system, and turned on the car. As the engine roared to life, Iris forced herself to put all doubts away. Leaping from the roof to the top of the car, Indigo managed to land as softly as a cat. Clinging covertly onto the roof of the Humvee, she held on as the Black Falcon pulled the car out of the driveway and sped off towards a final confrontation with Johnathan Cray.

The Black Falcon and Indigo (ft. KittyReaper) - Part 11

Postby The Black Falcon » Thu Jun 28, 2012 11:57 pm

It was a starless night on the very outskirts of the city. Not a soul was awake to notice the huge vehicle charge through the streets. Just as the tall buildings began to disappear from the surroundings, Indigo spotted a massive unfinished facility nearby. Both her and the Black Falcon simultaneously realized that this had to be the place. As the Black Falcon veered the giant Humvee down a side street to find a place to hide the van, Indigo took the chance to dive off of the roof of the vehicle, rolling on impact once she reached the ground.
In the middle of dashing to the huge under-construction building, Indigo suddenly stopped. What was she doing? The Black Falcon had turned her away, nearly leaving her to be arrested, or worse. And yet for some reason she found herself rushing blindly to help this man. She had no idea why. And yet she was still doing it.
“Don’t even think about it, Indigo,” she thought out loud to herself, “You already know that nothing’s going to change your mind. You might as well accept that.”
Clenching her fingers into fists, Indigo charged forwards. With an extensive criminal knowledge, her eyes immediately focused on a small side door several floors up. Once she reached the building, she nimbly scaled the railings on the facility and entered through the door. Entering quickly, she dropped down low to avoid being seen.
Indigo found herself on the rafters overlooking what almost looked like an arena. In the middle of the arena was a giant half-finished construct of wood and steel. Several guards roamed the area, alert and almost paranoid-looking, from Indigo’s observations. They were obviously preparing for someone to break in. And knowing John Cray, his men were probably putting everything they had into making sure the intruder didn’t get far.
As her gaze shifted to the right, Indigo suddenly spotted an armed guard coming her way along the rafters. Avoiding letting out a gasp, she ducked into a small alcove just out of the view of the guard. Once the armed man passed, Indigo ventured out again, vaulting the railing and landing gracefully on the top of the structure. Keeping herself as low and invisible as possible, she watched the men go about their rounds, keeping patrol and for some reason, setting up wires around the bottom of the construction site.
She then saw him. Johnathan Cray stepped out of a side room, with the Black Falcon’s sword sheathed at his side. One of his henchmen walked up to him and handed him a small device that looked like a detonator. Saying nothing, Cray observed the detonator, looking up and smiling.
Indigo’s eyes narrowed as she observed from above. This madman was setting off bombs??
Suddenly, the platform Indigo was standing on collapsed. Landing on a more stable platform below, she sprang off the platform before the one above collapsed on her, rolling onto the lower level on impact. Although Indigo was unharmed, the noise alerted Cray’s men. Cray himself kept smiling while his henchman fired a pistol at her. Dodging the bullet, Indigo leapt off the structure and landed on the ground. Immediately, several criminals charged her, attacking all at once. Despite the fact that she was alone against at least a hundred men, Indigo fought viciously, weaving through the crowd of enemies and taking several down quickly and efficiently, using high kicks and construction equipment to her advantage. Eventually, though, more and more thugs attacked her at once. While Indigo was kicking one man unforgivingly in the groin, another swept the leg she was standing on, causing her to fall on the ground. She tried to get up, but a man knocked her down with a punch to the jaw. Once she was back on the ground, the crooks continued to press the attack, showing her no mercy and overwhelming her with sheer numbers. Still recovering from several punches, Indigo was lifted to her feet by several men and dragged down to the ground on her knees, the men holding her tightly while Cray strolled up to her.
“Well what do you know,” he said, blue eyes gleaming, “I caught the wrong bird.”
With that, Cray knocked Indigo out with one more punch.

The Black Falcon got out of the armored Humvee, observing the enormous facility on the horizon. Thinking about all Cray had done and the danger he still presented, Adam was determined to end the threat immediately. Now that Cray knew his identity, it was officially a matter of life and death. It was either him or Johnathan Cray.
Once he reached the place, he found a rusted door about two floors up. Climbing an unfinished staircase, he kicked the door open. Tonight he was in no mood for subtlety. Waiting for a trap of some kind, he waited for an attack to come. Tense as he was, the Black Falcon was startled when his phone rang. Picking it up quickly to avoid it setting off any alarms, the Black Falcon brought the phone to his ear.
Upon hearing John Cray’s voice on the other end, Adam’s blood ran cold.
“I thought I might be able to reach you here…”
He knew his number?? Adam began to panic a bit but then composed himself. The Black Falcon could not show fear.
“What the hell do you want, Cray?”
“I should apologize, actually. I was wrong about your sidekick.”
“What do you mean by that?”
“Turns out she didn’t rat you out after all. I must have gotten some wrong information… I just thought you’d be glad to know that. You can even apologize to her! After all, I think you’ll be seeing her very soon.”
At that moment, Adam received a picture message on his phone. Upon looking at it, he let out a gasp. Displayed on the phone was a picture of an unmasked and bruised Indigo, tightly hogtied on the floor with several ropes and heavily gagged with duct tape plastered over her lower face reinforced by a large cloth tied over her mouth.
Cray continued talking while Adam listened to his words in silent horror.
“Poor girl tried to come here without you. Shame she had to get dragged all into this, isn’t it?”
“Cray,” Adam said calmly, “I hope you know that I’m not planning on letting you leave here alive.”
“If these two girls have anything to say about it, then I beg to differ.”

Iris struggled on the floor, screaming into her gag. Suddenly, Cray entered the room, locking the door behind him.
“How are you doing, princess?” he asked with a wicked gleam in his eyes.
“MMmmMMMPPhh!!!” she shouted angrily through her gag.
“I just got off the phone with your Black Falcon. It seems I managed to upset him quite a bit…”
Indigo growled at him while he continued talking.
“But I expected him to be like this. You know what really surprises me?”
The bound and gagged girl made no sound, glaring at Cray with all the hatred in the world.
“What surprises me,” he continued, “And disappointed me, is the fact that you’re here at all. You had such potential, Indigo! And yet you waste your life on some vigilante. I could have given you money and resources. I could have even protected you from the police and the Falcon himself. But instead you choose to come to his aid, even after my attempts to drive you two apart. My only question is – why?”
Before Iris could make any response, Cray began to laugh loudly.
“Don’t even tell me! I think I’ve got some ideas…”
Cray leaned down to Indigo, looking into her eyes.
“When did you start to care for the Falcon?”
Iris attempted to avert her gaze, but Cray grabbed her roughly by the chin and forced her to look into his eyes.
“When did you, a thief, start to actually have feelings for a man just out of his teenage years who was too stupid to stay home and read his Batman comics??”
Not being able to hold it back anymore, Iris let two tears drip down her face onto her gag. This made Cray laugh even more.
“I knew it!! This is phenomenal! Oh it’s too perfect… I’ve found the heart of the Black Falcon!”
Indigo attempted to turn her face away again but Cray held her tight.
“Oh don’t worry, Indigo… I’ll make sure you two have a proper lover’s ending. Your Black Falcon – your Adam – will die trying to save you. And then I’ll truly make you realize the error of your ways by killing you as well. Don’t worry, babe, I’ll take good care of him…”
Iris began to cry freely now, letting her tears soak her gag and letting out muffled sobs as Cray walked away, a smug smile still on his face.

The Black Falcon pounded his fist against the wall. That remorseless piece of scum Cray had gone too far. When he found that psycho, he was going to take his sword back and shred him to ribbons. The vigilante began to move forwards, but then stopped himself.
“Think for a minute, Falcon,” he thought to himself, “It’s obviously a trap. He knows I’m coming, and he’s got two hostages.”
“Yes,” another voice seemed to come from inside of him – the voice of the Black Falcon, “But traps are what we deal best with.”
“What chance do I have???” Adam’s voice screamed inside his head, “I’m not a hero!! I’m just a college student with martial arts and parkour experience. I was never meant for this kind of stuff!!”
“If you weren’t meant for this,” the Black Falcon responded, “Then you never would have put on that mask.”
Narrowing his eyes, the Black Falcon moved forwards into the facility. He knew what he had to do. In that moment, all doubts cleared from Adam’s mind. There was nothing left but him and a job that needed to be done.

Tonight, the Black Falcon was taking no prisoners.

The Black Falcon and Indigo (ft. KittyReaper) - Part 12

Postby The Black Falcon » Fri Jul 13, 2012 12:28 am

A lone guard roamed the high rafters, keeping a finger firm on the trigger of his automatic weapon. Moving cautiously, his eyes darted from side to side, keeping a close eye out for any movement. Suddenly, the man heard a small noise behind him. Turning around and breathing heavily, he monitored the darkness for the source of the sound. Too late did he notice a pair of arms emerging from the shadows behind him. Without any warning, the arms wrapped around the man’s throat and dragged him back into the darkness as he instinctively fired off a burst of bullets.

John Cray’s head cocked as he heard an automatic weapon being fired.
“He’s here,” he said, “Let’s get ready for him.”
Two groups of thugs entered from two opposite doors, holding Sami and Iris, who were free from their hogties yet still tightly bound with several ropes and gagged with duct tape and large scarves around their mouths. Standing directly in front of the large structure in the middle of the room, Cray began to smile.
Keeping their weapons ready, the criminals watched as a gunman was thrown off the rafters, landing with a sickening crack on the ground. The Black Falcon followed shortly after, landing nimbly on the ground and glaring at Cray with fire in his blood red eyes. As his men focused their guns on the vigilante, Johnathan Cray began to laugh.
“You might as well take that mask off. I know who you are, after all, so why do you insist on wearing it?”
“Because the Black Falcon took you in,” Adam growled, “And now the Black Falcon’s taking you out.”
Some of the men showed hesitation while Cray began to laugh even more. Suddenly, he withdrew his pistol and pointed it at Iris’s head, simultaneously drawing the Black Falcon’s sword and holding it across Sami’s throat.
“Look at the situation you’re in, kid.”
Adam looked on as Sami began to cry into her gag, while Iris stared silently at him.
“What astounds me, Cray, is that you go through all of this,” Adam said, still not moving a muscle, “And yet you forget that this is really just between you and me.”
“I haven’t forgotten that,” Cray said, stowing away the sword and focusing his gun on the Falcon, “In fact, I’ve made special preparations for just this moment.”
With that, John Cray pulled out a detonator.
“Does this situation seem familiar?”
Adam raised an eyebrow.
“Bombs?”
“All over the city.”
“Familiar, yes. Also predictable. You truly are pathetic, Cray.”
“You idiot!” Cray’s smile disappeared from his lips, “You don’t have a single advantage right now!”
“Well then if that’s the case,” the Black Falcon began to crack his knuckles, “Then why don’t we just skip all pretense and have at it? If this is what it really comes down to, then I don’t see any need to hide from it any more. You’ve been waiting for this moment since I first landed you in Miami-Dade Penitentiary, Cray. Now fight me.”
John Cray regained his smirk as he inserted his gun back into the holster and motioned his men to form a circle around him and the Falcon.
“You really are crazy, you know that?” he chuckled.
“You’re about to find out just how crazy I can be.”

Without another word, Cray dropped down into a fighting stance, slowly approaching the Black Falcon, who himself had crouched low into a nimble stance, daring Cray to make the first move. Covering distance, the criminal lunged forward with a powerful punch. The Black Falcon sidestepped the strike and wrapped his hands around Cray’s wrist, dragging his fist to his hip and preparing to place pressure on his shoulder. However, Cray let his momentum go along with the attack, whipping around and wrapping his arm around the Falcon’s throat in a headlock. Acting on both instinct and training, Adam threw his head back, attempting to bash it against the criminal’s. Despite the blow, Cray kept a firm grip around his opponent’s neck. Eventually, the Black Falcon threw his leg behind Cray’s and brought both arms across his body, targeting Cray by the neck and chest and throwing him over his knee and onto the ground. Massaging his neck, Adam backed away as his adversary stood up and charged with a flurry of punches. Blocking all of them in rapid succession, Adam was unprepared for Cray’s next move. After distracting the Falcon with rapid attacks at different levels of the body, John Cray quickly moved his hand to the back of the Falcon’s head and slammed his face against the structure behind them. Still doozy from the blow, the Black Falcon could do little to resist as Cray grabbed his head with both of his hands and threw him roughly on the ground in front of the bound and gagged Indigo.
Adam panted a little bit while Cray backed away smugly. The sudden onslaught had knocked the Falcon’s mask clean off, and as the unmasked Black Falcon turned to face his assailant, Cray’s smile grew even larger.
“Mmdmm!!!” Sami screamed into her gag, thrashing against the grip of the criminals.
Iris, however, remained perfectly still, observing as Adam left his mask and hat behind and lunged back into combat, rushing Cray with a charging tackle. Flexing her fingers, Indigo felt around for a better grip on the razor blade the Black Falcon had secretly slipped into her hands when he fell. Keeping a close eye on the combatants and on her guards, Iris began to subtly saw into her bonds.
Although unmasked, Adam didn’t let up at all, targeting all of Cray’s weak points with strong and fast punches. While the criminal mastermind successfully deflected most of the punches, a well-placed shin kick caught him off guard, setting him up for Adam to lash out with his hand and dig his thumb into one of his eyes. John Cray yelled out in pain, throwing a strong strike at the Falcon’s windpipe. The blow caused Adam to back off and attempt to catch his breath. However, he had little time to prepare as Cray charged again, attempting a back fist to Adam’s skull and following up with a curve punch. Finally getting his bearings back, the Black Falcon blocked the wide punch with an outward block and lunged forwards, rushing Cray with a rising chin strike, slamming his head into his knee, and bringing his forearm down across his neck. This attack left Cray on the ground, dazed from the pain.
Taking advantage of the brief lull in action, Adam quickly threw on his mask and hat, getting ready for more combat. Breathing heavily, the Black Falcon cringed as Cray sat up and screamed out in rage. Adam barely avoided letting out a gasp, as he had never seen the criminal mastermind lose his composure like that before.
Outraged at the injuries and insult that the Falcon had inflicted, Cray rapidly pulled his gun out of his holster and fired a bullet at the Black Falcon. Throwing himself on the ground, the Falcon barely avoided the bullet as the criminals in the path of the bullet scattered out of the way, dropping Iris on the ground. As she fell to the ground, the broken ropes holding Indigo came loose. Not even bothering to remove her gag, Iris rapidly freed her legs with the Falcon’s razorblade and charged for the gang of criminals holding Sami. Taking care of them as quickly and efficiently as she could, she picked up Sami in a fireman’s carry with surprising strength and bolted out of the facility.
Shoving his comrades out of the way, one of the men brought out a machine gun and aimed it directly at Iris and Sami. Acting quickly and taking advantage of the distraction, the Black Falcon lunged for Cray’s hip and stole his sword back, whipping around and slashing the Achilles’ tendon of the man holding the gun. Falling to the ground in pain, the man lost sight of Iris and Sami and took out a few of his fellow criminals with a burst of bullets. Finishing off the gunman with his sword, the Black Falcon dived into the enormous crowd of criminals, covering Indigo as she managed to escape with Sami.
“Well?!?” the Black Falcon yelled out loud enough for every single criminal in the building to hear, “Here I am!!!”

Indigo ran faster than she ever had in her life, despite carrying Sami and having her legs cramped from being bound so long. Eventually, the two girls reached a building. Indigo managed to scale it via the fire escape and set Sami down on the roof, sitting down and breathing heavily after finally removing her own gag.
“Mmmmmm!!!” Sami yelled out.
“I know…I know…” Iris panted, “I’ll untie you in a second.”
“Nmmmm!!!” Sami replied, “Mmm mmmnnbbmmtt Mmdmmm!”
“Adam…” Indigo sighed, suddenly standing up, “He’s back there facing over a hundred guys right now.”
Iris clenched her fists and turned back towards Cray’s hideout.
“I’ve got to go back… Believe me, even heroes like the Black Falcon need help sometimes. Don’t worry, Sami, someone will come back for you.”
Acting with determination, Indigo left the rooftop, rapidly charging back towards the facility.

Five men immediately surrounded the Black Falcon. Almost immediately, they all fell back clutching bleeding wounds or wheezing with severe damage to their windpipes. The Falcon still stood calmly, holding a freshly bloodied sword at the ready. Three more thugs charged but soon found themselves on the wrong end of the Falcon’s sword as well. At this point, one man stepped through the crowd of thugs, keeping a shotgun closely trained on the Falcon. Looking straight at the man with his red eyes, the Black Falcon suddenly leapt backwards into the massive crowd of criminals. As the gunman heard the sounds of struggle and unrelenting and crippling blows, he began to grow paranoid, firing randomly into the crowd in the hopes of hitting the Falcon. Once more and more crooks dropped left and right, all became chaos. The Black Falcon ducked and weaved through the massive crowd, taking out thug after thug with surprising speed and strength, while particularly paranoid criminals continued to accidentally take out their comrades. Working against incredible odds, Adam’s adrenaline kicked into full gear, causing him to fight to the absolute fullest he had ever fought while his thoughts barely had time to catch up with his actions.
Once he had successfully defeated half of the criminals, the Black Falcon began to notice increasing fear and paranoia among the men. However, he felt his stamina steadily decreasing as well. Just as he was about to dive back into combat, he noticed more screams and unconscious thugs coming from another direction. Without warning, Indigo jumped next to the Black Falcon, dishing out unforgiving kicks to several unlucky thugs. Winking at her ally, Indigo moved back to back with the Falcon as they continued to hold off a new wave of criminals.
“I thought you could use some help,” she smiled.
“Let me guess,” the Falcon responded, slamming a crook’s face into his knee and turning around to slash at another one with his sword, “You left Sami tied up on a roof, didn’t you?”
“Well I had to.”
“Maybe, but now I’m going to have to get her after all of this is over…if we survive this.”
“If you really wanted to survive that badly, Falcon, we wouldn’t even be here in the first place.”
The Black Falcon merely responded with a nod of his head before he and Indigo dived back into the ring of criminals.

John Cray was seething with rage as he observed his best men falling before him to two vigilantes. Ignoring the pain, he scaled the construction site and stood at the top, aiming his pistol directly at Indigo.
“Gotcha,” he smiled bitterly.
“Yes I do,” a voice growled into his ear.
Just as Cray fired his bullet, the Black Falcon shoved his arm down, causing him to hit one of the criminals.
Growling in rage again, Cray suddenly turned around and pistol-whipped the vigilante, following through with a swift kick and a burst of punches. Adam managed to block all of the attacks. However, he was unprepared as Cray drew his pistol and fired a shot at point blank range directly into the Falcon’s leg. Yelling out in pain, Adam fell to his knees, losing grip of his sword. Just as he was about to reach for it, John Cray stepped on his hand, pressing harder and harder until the sound of bones cracking could be heard. Screaming against the excruciating pain, Adam distracted Cray from the cruel punishment by throwing his good leg directly up into his opponent’s groin. Groaning in pain, Cray backed up to the edge of the construction site. Standing up hesitantly, trying to put as little weight as possible on his bad leg, Adam picked up his sword and began to run faster and faster at his target. Closing his eyes, the Falcon prepared for the worst as he grabbed Cray in a charging tackle, throwing both men off the top of the construction site.
Keeping a firm hold of his opponent, the Black Falcon braced himself as he and Cray crashed into several platforms and support beams, slightly slowing their chaotic plunge to the ground.
Finally, the two landed on the ground. The Falcon had managed to maneuver himself midair so that Cray would take most of the fall. Adam heard the distinct sound of some of Cray’s ribs cracking as he braced himself against his own considerable pain.
With the Black Falcon still on top of him, John Cray spat out blood and shoved his pistol into the Falcon’s face. However, when he pulled the trigger, the only sound that could be heard was an empty “click.” Snarling in anger, Cray slapped the vigilante with the butt of the pistol and kicked him off. The Falcon grimaced as he landed on his bad leg, using the base of the structure to support him.
Cray shakily stood up, laughing as his blue eyes became bloodshot.
“You’ve forgotten the most important part, Falcon. You see, you’ve really pissed me off. And now all of Chicago is going to pay for it.”
Reaching for his detonator, Cray’s eyes grew wide. Standing directly behind both fighters and waving the stolen detonator was Indigo.
“Pretty nice work for a thief,” she smiled.
“You…” Cray coughed, becoming insane with pure fury, “I’LL RIP YOU TO SHREDS!!”
Attempting to ignore his injuries, Cray lunged forwards towards Indigo, throwing an arm out to throttle her. Before he could even make it three steps, though, the Black Falcon lashed out and wrapped his arm around Cray’s, putting an enormous amount of pressure on his shoulder and looking directly into his eyes.
“I have had enough of you.”
In one swift motion, the Falcon crouched down low, breaking Cray’s arm with the sudden movement.
Clutching his arm, Cray backed up against the construction site. Stealing one more defiant glare at his opponent, he looked up and narrowed his eyes wrathfully at the Black Falcon. However, his eyes widened as the vigilante placed both hands on the hilt of his sword and rammed the blade into Cray’s chest, pinning him against the structure. Coughing up blood one final time, John Cray fell limp onto the blade.
The few criminals who hadn’t been defeated stood still as everyone watched the Falcon yank his blade out of Cray’s corpse. Johnathan Cray, the feared criminal mastermind of Chicago, fell limp like a ragdoll at the Black Falcon’s feet.

The Black Falcon and Indigo (ft. KittyReaper) - Part 13

The Black Falcon stood still for a moment, as if he was still processing the fact that his enemy was finally dead. Suddenly, he gasped in pain and fell forwards onto the construction site, supporting himself with his good hand and gripping his wounded leg. The remaining criminals had run away by now as Indigo rushed forwards to help support him.
Placing one arm around his shoulders and the other hand supporting his chest, Indigo helped the Falcon walk away from the construction site towards the exit.
“Come on, Falcon,” she said, “The police might be here soon.”
“Iris…” Adam panted, “Give me the detonator.”
“Yeah, sure,” Iris said uncertainly, handing him the device.
Once he had the detonator in hand, Adam gently pushed Iris away so that he could stand on his own. Shakily shifting his weight from one foot to the other, he gritted his teeth until it finally seemed that he had his bearings.
“Iris,” he said again, “Go free Sami. I’ve got to give this thing to the police.”
“But you’re hurt,” she protested sternly.
Adam looked her dead in the eyes, “I can manage. Now go! Hurry!”
As Indigo made her escape, Adam heard the steady approach of sirens.

Sami sat bound and gagged on the rooftop, safe from danger yet still struggling furiously. She had never been so terrified in her life – for herself, and for Adam.
Wriggling against the ropes, she continued to moan into her gag, hoping that somebody could hear her. However, after hearing a sharp crash in the night, she silenced herself. In this area of downtown Chicago, who knew what kind of creeps might come to her “rescue?” There was little left to do but struggle lightly and sob softly into the stifling gag.
“Mmmnnnmmm,” Sami continued to softly moan, tears dripping down her face onto her gag.
Suddenly, a dark figure leapt up on the roof.
“Nmmm!!!” the girl shouted, twisting and turning against the tight ropes, “Hlmmmm mmmhhmmm!!!!”
“Relax,” Indigo said softly, stepping into full view and crouching down next to the girl, “I’ve come back to free you.”
Sami let out a sob of relief as Indigo proceeded to free her from her incredibly tight bonds. Once the girl was free, Indigo began to walk away. Sami quickly tore off her gag.
“Wait!” she called out, “Is Adam okay?”
“He’s fine,” Indigo said, “Hurt, but fine. And I don’t think Cray will be bothering you anymore.”
Just as Indigo was about to leap off the rooftop, she paused, taking a deep breath and saying one more thing to Sami before disappearing into the night.
“You’re lucky, you know. Adam’s a hero.”

As the Black Falcon rifled through Cray’s papers, he heard the sirens come nearer and nearer, finally followed by shouting and hurried footsteps. Choosing a file, the vigilante glanced in the direction of the footsteps and backed up into the shadows.
Along with several officers, the chief of police burst into the main room of the abandoned facility.
“We heard gunshots coming from this location! If anybody’s here, step into my line of sight and freeze!”
The police chief suddenly reeled after noticing the bodies of the fallen criminals, including Cray. A voice from the blackness interrupted his thoughts.
“Johnathan Cray…the man behind nearly all of Chicago’s crime.”
The policeman cocked his gun, aiming it at the voice.
“Who’s there?”
“Relax, chief, I’m trying to help.”
A detonator was suddenly tossed at the law enforcer’s feet, along with a map of the city.
“Cray’s last act before he died was to plant bombs all over the city. I’ve given you the detonator, as well as a map of where all the live bombs are.”
“Who are you?!”
“I’m a man who did his part in looking after the city. Now it’s your turn.”
“Did you kill all of these people?”
The chief caught a glimpse of red eyes staring through the shadows, as well as the silhouette of what looked like a beak.
“It was either John Cray or Chicago. Make your decision, officer, because I already made mine.”
Without another word, the mysterious man disappeared back into the shadows.

Hours later, a panicked man and woman drove down the street as fast as possible, heading towards one of Chicago’s major hospitals. As soon as they parked the car, the older couple started running to the doors. They were greeted by their 20 year-old son limping out to meet them on a pair of crutches and a bandaged hand.
“Hey,” Adam said, “Nice of you guys to show up.”
Adam’s parents embraced their son.
“You’ve got to be more careful on the streets, Adam,” his mother said sternly.
“Yeah,” the young man chuckled, “I think I’ve learned my lesson.”
“Let’s get you home, son.”
The car ride home was an oddly peaceful one. The pain had finally dulled, and Adam was able to lay back and rest. At last, he no longer felt the building pressure of having to protect, to defend, to worry…
Letting out a sigh, he lay back and slept for the rest of the car ride.

“Now I want you to get right to bed. God knows you need your rest.”
“Yeah, right…”
Adam swiveled on the crutches, beginning to head up the stairs. Suddenly, something caught his eye.
A gleaming black jewel, sitting on top of the kitchen counter.
He had to see her again.

The next day, Iris sat alone at the coffee shop. Aside from a few bruises and cuts, she had sustained no major injuries. However, she kept silent, sipping her coffee and merely staring at the doors, watching people come and go.
Upon seeing one man enter, order a drink, and approach her table, she suddenly sat up at attention.
Adam limped to her table, holding a drink in his non-bandaged hand.
“Shouldn’t you be on crutches?” Iris spoke up.
“Probably,” Adam responded, sitting down across from her, “But I hate those damn things. I’m fine with a John Wayne limp.”
Iris managed to let out a chuckle.
“So…” she said, “What, um, happened to you, may I ask?”
“Well, a guy like me shouldn’t be walking alone on the streets. They’re dangerous at night, you know. Someone like me might be shot in the leg in some freak drive-by.”
“Ooh,” Iris winced, “And what about your hand?”
“Well wouldn’t you know? Some bastard drove over my hand while I was trying to get help.”
Both laughed as fellow customers gave them strange looks. Noticing the attention they were getting, Iris leaned in close.
“Meet me on the roof in thirty minutes?”
“It’s a date.”

Moments later, the costumed and masked Black Falcon reached the rooftop, wincing a bit as he put pressure on his wounded hand. A fully-costumed Indigo stood waiting for him.
“So did the hospital actually buy that story?” the girl asked.
“Does it even really matter?” Adam responded, “What else would they believe? That I’m secretly the Black Falcon and I just finished a confrontation with Chicago’s most notorious criminal?”
Indigo laughed, but suddenly sighed.
“What’s wrong?” the Falcon asked.
“Nothing’s wrong…” Indigo replied, “I’m just glad you’re alright.”
“I could say the same thing,” he said, “And believe me, even though I’m hurt, I couldn’t be more content right now.”
“So are you still going to do what you do?”
“What do you mean?”
“Cray’s gone, Adam. And with him, so is nearly half the crime in Chicago. Are you still going to be the Black Falcon?”
Adam thought for a long time, limping to the edge of the building and looking out onto the streets.
“Well I may have to take a break for a while so I can heal up,” he said, “And back when I first put on this mask, I never thought I would be carrying on like this for so long.”
Indigo observed as Adam took his mask off and stared at it.
“It seems easy to quit now, doesn’t it? But you know what, Iris? I can’t stop. Even though I was barely thinking when I first started fighting crime, I unknowingly made a promise. I became the Black Falcon. The Falcon’s a part of me that can never leave now. And frankly, Indigo, I can’t wait to see what he’ll do next.”
“Well then,” Indigo said, moving forward and placing a hand on his shoulder, “Here’s to more adventures.”
Adam smiled. However, he was caught off guard when Iris suddenly leaned forward and kissed him quickly before dashing off, leaping from the rooftop and disappearing from sight.
Speechless, Adam could only grin, putting his mask back on and quietly observing his city.

On the outskirts of the city, one of Cray’s men stood talking to a man in black.
“The Falcon’s too much for us to handle. He took out one hundred of us and murdered Cray on a wounded leg. Most of us are too terrified to even jaywalk now.”
The black-clad man chuckled while the henchman kept talking.
“What? You think this is funny?! John Cray had the entire city of Chicago in the palm of his hand and the Black Falcon took him down in one night. What makes you think you have a chance, Kain?”
“Because,” Kain said deliberately, “Cray put way too much of his effort into petty revenge. I myself am curious to see just what this ‘Black Falcon’ can do. And from what I’ve heard, this vigilante deserves a better adversary than Johnathan Cray.”

And just like that, the Black Falcon and Indigo is completed. It's been a good ride, and I thank all of you that took the time to read. I'd especially like to thank and acknowledge KittyReaper, who created her alter-ego Indigo and contributed several ideas and plot elements to the story.
Once again, thanks for reading! And don't worry, more Black Falcon stories are coming...
