Just thought I'd start a thread about this site, and anonymity---readers and members remaining anonymous to each other, which, in the long run is probably best to be. It kind of relates to the thread that mcsproot started, regarding if anyone from this board had ever met up with anyone else from this board. I put my "two cents" in regarding that, that it probably is best that we all remain anonymous, and just kind of WONDER what we all look like! But, that got me thinking about something. Do you ever wonder, if there are any TUGs enthusiasts who reside in YOUR community, wherever you live on this planet, and you don't even know it? I sometimes think about that possiblity. But, I'd never know. Not having the powers of reading other people's minds, I wouldn't know what other people are thinking about, including participating in TUGs.
Here in my part of the U.S., as in other parts of the country, there are many shopping centers and malls. Sometimes, while I've been sipping a latte or coffee from a coffee shop inside the mall, I'll glance up from reading the daily newspaper, and see a group of youngsters walking by, maybe, high school age. Or, it might be a group of young adults, maybe around college age. And, briefly, just briefly, the thought will go through the back of the mind, I Wonder if those young folks know what TUGs are, and if they DO know what they are, do ***THEY*** ever participate in them, in the privacy of their own home or back yard. Of course, I'll never know, not having the powers of reading their minds. It could be that some TUGs enthusiasts are walking around the malls near where I reside, or, there might not be. You just don't know. That's the power of the imagination, I suppose.
But, it's not as though I'm going to go up and outright ASK a small group of say, some college-age friends if they know what TUGs are. I mean, imagine asking this: Say, excuse me, but do you young folks know what TUGs are? Now, asking that sort of question will no doubt get you three possible responses: One, they might look at you strangely, and ask, TUGs? What are TUGs? Like, tug-boats in a large harbor for towing large ships? Well, you don't know, so I'm not going to let you know---thanks anyway, forget I even asked! Or, two, they might look at you strangely again, and say, Well, yeah, ***WE*** know what they are, we've heard about them. Why do ***YOU*** want to know if we know what they are??? Or, three, they might respond with, Oh, hell, yes! We know what they are! We play them all the time. You should have seen what we did to my cousin last weekend. He didn't get loose for hours, and we finally gave in to his pleadings after 6 hours and released him before his bladder gave way! Well, right...as if a conversation like ***THAT*** is ever going to happen! NOT!
But, the basic question remains...Do you ever wonder if there are, secretly, any TUGs participants walking around YOUR neighborhood mall or shopping center, where you visit regularly, but you'll never know? (There could be, there might be...but, you'll never, ever, find out!)

I have been into TUGs for many years, but have always kept my fun and games out of the public eye, as much as I have been able to; and it’s the same with my like-minded friends. So the people around me don’t know what I get up to and vice versa.
A couple of years ago I had an interesting revelation. In the block of flats next to mine there was a couple I knew, vaguely. We had never said more than a “hello†to each other. They were in their late twenties or early thirties, and somewhat “alternative†– sort of a cross between goth and biker, but nothing that would make them stand out in a crowd.
One afternoon when I happened to be looking out the window, I saw the woman come down the stairs and out into the front yard to check the mailbox. She was quite casual about it, taking her time. She was very pretty, with several tattoos and piercings that I could see (and a few, no doubt, that I couldn’t), and she was wearing a black one-piece swimsuit – again nothing unusual. But she had chains on her wrists that were attached to another chain around her waist (but with enough slack that she could reach the letterbox). If I am remembering correctly, she also had a chain around her neck. It was nothing radical, but she was making no attempt to be discreet and appeared totally nonchalant about being seen by the neighbours in her chains.
Since I only saw her by chance that day, I don’t know if this was a once-only occasion. It certainly raised some questions in my mind. Was she so used to being in chains that she forgot she was wearing them? Had she been playing tie-up games with her partner and suddenly decided to check the mail, or was this her regular ensemble around the home? Unfortunately they moved out before I had a chance to talk to them about it. But it does make me wonder just how many there are of “us†out there.

I generally keep my thoughts on this sort of thing to myself. Only a couple of people maybe know about my interest.
Sometimes I wonder about women I see out in public, usually if I'm waiting on something and my mind has time to wander. It's not something that happens all the time though.
I cannot for the life of me remember where I read it to back up what I'm saying, but I seem to recall reading sometime among married couples about 50% admitted to having tried bondage during their marriage, and about half of them (basically 25% of married couples) did it on some kind of regular basis. That's a pretty good percentage. Factor in people who aren't married and it's at least a very common fantasy.
I've seen a few tie-ups occur in my lifetime which I had absolutely no part in, and once in a great while people have made comments alluding to them.
That said, I don't think it's a good idea to go around asking people about this. Even people into it would probably look at you like you're crazy because that's prying a lot. As much as I'm interested if someone I didn't know well was very forward about it I wouldn't be very comfortable.

Once in the last day of a holiday, with a group of kids of the place we were staying we were bored as it always seems to happen and we were hanging around. In a playground there was a piece of rope from a broken swing and don't remember how, we started making knots and eventually one of us tied someone's else wrists, but very sloppily. The thing proceeded and in the end it was just another kid and me tying each other. In a very effective way and we were enjoying this also when the rest of the company went elsewhere and we remained alone in the playground. It was something more than one hour before I had to leave. And he told me that "play binding" (we didn't knew the term TUG) was his favourite one...
Had I knew this fifteen days before when I arrived at the vacation place that would have been one of the most memorable summers of my life....
There should be a way to recognize other tuggers...

Greetings Again: larossa brings up an interesting thought, that there should be a way to "recognize" other tuggers. I don't remember if there was a thread about it in the original Canuck site, or this one here, but someone touched upon that same idea, quite some time ago, and sent along a kind of round-shaped "logo" that seems to be common amongst people who are into bondage. It was round, as I said, and in the center of the circle was a central hub, with 3 spiral "spokes" or "arms" coming out from that central hub. (And the spokes kind of curve) It's hard to describe, and I DID print out the image from that posting. (I have no way of duplicating it, or storing it on my own computer and posting it here.) It looks like just another interesting "logo" that one might see on a person's T-shirt, like silk-screened on the shirt. And, people wouldn't even know what the symbol was, if they went outside wearing it at a local shopping center, mall, or recreation center. (Even at school, if worn by a youngster!) But, people who are of like mind, who come to this site and others, would recognize it right away, and know what it means. Just my thoughts. Anyone else remember seeing that symbol on this site, or on the old Canuck site?

I know the symbol you refer to, it's this one:

the point is that it's a well known symbol also outside the "scene"... There are many kids who browse adult sites just for curiosity and/or fun, and I cannot but imagine the abuse they could subject to the kid who they would even suspect that is interested in "Tie up games"...
Afraid, we must find another way....

larossa: Yes, that is the symbol that I was thinking of, that I saw several years ago. Someone---I don't know who---suggested that some kind of symbol like that one---or something completely different---be used. Anyway, here's a different idea, for finding a way: You know how people, including youngsters, wear what's called a "graphic T-shirt", a T-shirt that has a humorous message on it. Something like "I {Heart Symbol} NY", or "I {Heart Symbol} LA", or "I {Heart Symbol} Philadelphia", buying a shirt like that after visiting some well-known city. So, here's some ideas for graphic T-Shirts that persons could have made that would give off subtle---and perhaps "not-so-subtle" hints, that they are into TUGs:
I {Heart Symbol} TUGs---Do YOU?
I {Heart Symbol} TUGs---Now, Get Some Rope And Duct Tape, And...Let's Play!
I {Heart Symbol} TUGS---Played One Recently?
I {Heart Symbol} TUGs---Wanna Play?
I {Heart Symbol) Rope---It Looks Really Great On My Bratty Brother {Or, Bratty Sister, or Bratty Cousin---YOU choose which one to silkscreen on the shirt)
I (Heart Symbol} Duct Tape---It Looks Really Great On My Annoying Classmates (Or, Annonying Teammates}
Bandanas And Mouths---Made For Each Other
Hands---Feet---And Rope---Made For Each Other
Or, how about these messages on a graphic T:
Hey, I'm Really Hyperactive Today---Someone Tie Me Up, Please! (Better Yet, Hog-Tie Me)
Hey, I Can't Keep Quiet In Class Today---Someone Gag Me, Please
Or, in a kind of "play" on the "Got MILK" TV commercials:
Got ROPE?
Got DUCT TAPE?
Or, how about: TUGs---Inquire Here. Or, how about just a large letter "T" on the front of a shirt. Very non-descript.
Well, that's all for now. These are all suggested in a "tongue-in-cheek", facetious way, of course. I don't know if any silk-screen T-shirt maker would REALLY make a shirt with any of THOSE messages on them. But, they WOULD be subtle or not-so-subtle hints to people reading them. Any other suggestions from anyone else as to what to put on to a T-shirt?

One final idea that I thought of to identify a TUGs persons to another TUGs person, when out in a public area. A shirt with the letters "IPT" on it. (I Play TUGs) or the letters IET (I Enjoy TUGs)No one would be the wiser.

or you could well have it on a bracelet too ^_^

I think a special hemp rope bracelet would be good.

Then someone from outside the scene reads about the letters or the rope bracelet and start saying that ***** likes to be tied...
And bullying ensues....
Afraid, anonimity is a necessity....

I'm nit afraid to reveal some things. My age(15 and 11 months), my description, my personality or where I live as specific as what county I live in. There are half a million people in my county and a tenth of it's population is my town alone. The chances of you finding someone who looks like me is pretty big. The only thing I won't tell you is my last name because then the Internet can reveal almost anything about me.

This thread has been dead for a while but I thought I would make a contribution;
While I have never revealed my preferences to anyone but my wife I do often like to make references in conversation to TUG's just to see how people react. Just yesterday I was participating in an activity in which about twenty of us split up into smaller groups. At the initial meeting with everyone I was quite taken with a beautiful young woman named Danielle. She ended up in another group.
My group was required to walk some hiking trails. We came upon an abandoned campsite which, among other things, had a length of rope (about 25 feet) that had been left behind. Each of us began to clean up the site. I took the rope. Once I had it neatly coiled up one of my companions asked me what I was going to do with it. I told him that I was going to ask Danielle if she had read "Fifty Shades of Grey".
Another TUGger would have not let that go without commenting. As it was no one there gave even the slightest hint that they knew what I was talking about. I actually considered mentioning the clean up to Danielle, showing her the rope and asking if she had read the novel but didn't get a chance. I wonder what her reaction might have been.
