Part 11 - Otto's POV
For me, the rest of the day was a blur. I remembered nothing of my classes, having just sat and daydreamed about Rachel instead of making notes.
But then, as it turned out, I didn't have to dream.
My last lesson was a free period, so I relaxed on a sofa in the common room. I was about to try and get some homework done (although I would probably just end up doodling pictures of Rachel, as usual) when to my surprise and delight, I heard a familiar voice:
"Can I...um...talk to you, Otto?"
My heart was racing. She stood in front of me, half her face covered by her long hair. She was smiling shyly at me, and she had me transfixed.
"Um...Otto?"
"Huh...what...sorry?"
She giggled. "Got a lot on your mind?"
Huh, you don't say.
But I didn't say that. Instead, I said, "Yeah, I guess. Sorry, what did you ask?"
She gestured at the sofa. "Can I join you?"
"Of course. Any particular reason you're joining me today?"
My heart raced even faster as Rachel sat herself not at the other end of the sofa, or even halfway between me and the end, but right next to me! So close, that her thigh rested gently against mine.
I swallowed and somehow kept my calm demeanor.
Meanwhile, Rachel kicked off her shoes and tucked her feet up underneath her. "Well, yes actually. I hear you're good at history."
I blushed. "Well, I like it a lot."
Rachel smiled. She was beautiful when she smiled. "Well, that would make sense. But anyway, I was wondering if you'd like to study with me, after school. I mean, um, today?"
I didn't say anything. I was too shocked.
