Hey guys! This is my first post, so I might be a little weird, but hear me out, ok?
Here goes:
The last day of school.
I had planned for a sleepover at my friend Matt's house, so as I got on the bus, I totally wasn't expecting what was going to happen.
About three stops from my house, A note slid under the seats to me.
I picked up the note and read the inside.
Inside was an address.
"SECRET MEETING:
1205 Birch Way, 6:00 PM"
Oddly, I lived right near there.
I decided that I would go.
What was the worst that could happen?
Little did I know that the worst was MUCH worse than I could have ever imagined.
By the way, I'm Amy. I'm 13, and I've got long, brown hair. It about goes to my chest, and I like it that way.
Anyway, Back to the story.
At 5:45, I slipped my trusty pocket knife in my pocket, got on my bike, and by 6:00, I was there.
I walked towards the gate of the building.
The windows were boarded up, but the door had a spot where wood was torn off.
I could get through here, I thought.
Sneaking in the gate, I walked to the door.
Sure enough, the wood tore right off.
I crawled in, and looked around.
Old chair, broken TV. Probably not even color.
I walked further.
Coffee table, still with an old magazine from the 70's on it.
I couldn't read it, it was all smudged and stained.
The place might be old and wrecked, but it certainly wasn't abandoned.
First of all, the lights were on. I was sure this place wouldn't have electricity if it was abandoned.
Second, I heard a voice.
That meant two things, A) someone was there, and B) they wouldn't like me being here.
I tried to go back outside, but someone had already put wood back on the door.
I was trapped in.
I decided my best move would be to go and find out who was there, and explain the note.
I was sure they'd understand.
As I walked forward, I could hear conversation.
"I'm sure the last one will arrive."
"Certainly. That note was perfect. No one can resist a secret."
I was meant to be here then.
That, or the note got the wrong recipient.
Desperately hoping I did not intercept a note, I walked into the room the conversation was happening in.
Suddenly, The world went black as somebody tackled me to the floor.
Wrong person, I thought.
I woke up, bound to a chair in the room I was just in. There were five other people like this, including Matt.
To see him was great, but I was still on the bound-to-a-chair thing.
Two people came in the room.
the were about my age, but one was a little short. They looked like they were serious.
I suppose I was the person the note was for.
"Hello," one of them said.
"Hello," we all responded, out of sync.
"I bet you're all wondering why you're all here," he said.
I nodded.
"Well, Before I say that, let me introduce myself. My name is Rick. Call me Rick and nothing else."
"Hello Rick," I said.
I heard Matt say, "Hello, Rick and nothing else," and I think one of them said, "Hello, Ricky".
"This is my assistant, Joe. Say hi to Joe," he said.
"Hi, Joe."
"Anyway," Rick said.
"We need you all for something. You all do well in Gym," he continued.
"Yeah," I said. The others agreed.
"You all are excellent stealth artists," he said.
I nodded.
"And you all are skilled in different ways."
I agreed.
"Matthew, you can fight on instinct like you've taken lessons for your entire life. You've taken no lessons on it at all."
Matt nodded.
"Samantha, you've gotten so good at hiding that we had trouble finding you to give you the note."
Sam nodded.
"Harry, You're great at escaping. In fact, I bet you've already escaped," Rick said.
Harry stood up, the rope falling beneath him.
"Yeah, I guess you could say that," he said.
"Julia, you're so agile, you can run faster than a bike,"
"Yeah," she said.
"Robert," Rick said.
"You've got an IQ of, what, 400? You're almost a supercomputer as it is!"
"I've never taken the test, but I'll assume..."
"And you," he said, looking at me.
"Amy, you've been a master at making plans your whole life. Are you not?"
"I guess," I said.
"Now that we've met, let's get the point."
"For this part, you must not speak," Rick said, as Joe went around the room.
He went to me and stuffed a cloth in my mouth, securing it with tape.
I was now bound and gagged, as were the rest of us.
"Now," Rick said.
"You all are needed somewhere near California," he said.
California? We live in Rhode Island.
California?
"We need you to get something for my father's company," he said.
"Recently, an organized group of people stole my father's company's new secret project," Rick said.
"We're flying you to California in a few days to retrieve it."
He let this sink in.
"There's a company that is trying to steal business from my father's consumers," Rick went on.
"And It's your job to get back that blueprint."
As we all thought, he gave us a final warning.
"Don't read it. Just get it."
As he said that, he signaled for Joe to release us. As feeling came back into my lower body, Rick motioned for us to follow him.
"Come," he said.
"There's much you all need to learn."
