And this is the third of Sherry Rathbone adventure's. I hope you like it :big:

Lucy's Disappearance
Chapter I: The Mystery of the Mute Magician and Miss Xandria
The attendance at the tonight’s show was very small as it was usual in this place. In fact there were only seven people in the whole club. Chicolini, the Mute Magician and his ravishing assistant Miss Xandria did their best to entertain them but the atmosphere in the room was quite dull. After the magician escaped from the horrible death in straightjacket inside the tank filled with water, only a weak applause was heard. It was quite understandable because the show gave a very cheap impression. The lighting was poor, no fire or smoke effects, the music was bad and the notorious magical tricks did not impress anybody these days.
Miss Xandria, a tall beauty, who seemed to be the mixture of African and Asian origin, announced the last act of the evening: “And now ladies and gentleman, I will ask one of you to come here on the stage to help us with this performance. It will be dangerous. It will be exciting. It will be the experience you will never forget. For example the young lady in the black silk blouse at the table number 6, please come on stage, miss.”
For Lucy Baker it was the worst date ever. She was asked out by the new guy at school, Jeremy Wiggins. They were supposed to meet here but he did not show up. She was quite angry but decided to go alone and have fun. However, this show was so incredibly boring and ordinary that it was impossible to enjoy it. She has just finished her third cola and wanted to leave when she was asked to come on the stage.
Why not? She said to herself. At least I can find out how they do these things.
“Please applause for the brave young lady.” called Miss Xandria. The applause for Lucy was very middling but she did not care at all. This evening was a failure anyway.
“What’s your name, miss?”
“Lucy.”
“Okay Lucy, your task will be easy. You will sit on the chair and you will be tied up. Then I will gag you and close you inside this box. Can you do that?” asked Xandria and put her hand on Lucy’s shoulders.
Oh my god, tied up and gagged again. Whatever, there is no way back, thought Lucy who resigned. “I guess I can do that.”
“Splendid, splendid! Pray sit down.” A big smile appeared on her face as she took out a long rope from nowhere. Suddenly it was in her hands. Lucy sat down on the chair and the raven-haired beauty, dressed in shining black leather pants and satin red blouse, started to tie her up. She did a very good job. Lucy did not expect to be tied that tight. It was impossible for her to move.
“And now for the gag.”
Xandria took out a silk pink scarf and put it between Lucy’s lips and tied it tightly behind her head.
After that, the Mute Magician and Miss Xandria moved the chair with helpless Lucy into the big box, which had several holes inside. They closed it and the magician, a small undistinguished man with a long mustache and a cylinder on his head, started to stab long swords into the holes in the box.
At this point the audience finally started to be interested for the fate of the bound girl, though they knew that no real harm could come to her.
After five minutes of the dramatic silence during which ten swords were placed into the box, the Mute magician removed all of them and with the sound of drums Xandria opened the box. The tied up girl was still there. While the audience was clapping their hands more likely because they were happy to go home, than to enjoy the last act, the Mute magician was bowing and Xandria was untying and ungagging Lucy, who, after she had been freed, bowed as well and returned to her table.

It was fifteen minutes till the beginning of the first lesson. Sherry, dressed in her typical outfit consisting of the red flannel shirt, black T-shirt and the pair of jeans, was sitting on the small bench in the park, not far away from the school, smoking a cigarette and waiting for Lucy.
“C’mon Lucy, where are you? We’re gonna be late.” Sherry was muttering for herself during her tenth attempt to call her friend.
She stepped on the cigarette butt and left for the school. She knew that she would be in terrible trouble if somebody saw her smoking but didn’t care much. Getting into trouble was her natural state of life.
In the classroom, the chair next to Sherry stayed empty as Lucy did not show up for the whole day.

“Good afternoon, Mrs. Baker, is Lucy at home?” Sherry was standing at the door of Baker’s house, staring into the deep eyes of her best friend’s mother, who looked like the older version of Lucy.
“No, she went out last night and I haven’t seen her since.” said Mrs. Baker with a worried voice.
“With whom?”
“She said it was your new schoolmate. I don’t remember the name.”
“Jeremy Wiggins?”
“Yeah, that’s possible.”
“And where did they go?”
“She said something about a magician show.”
“The Mute Magician at that awful Iturbide Club. That’s not like her. Did you call the police, Mrs. Baker?”
“Of course, I did but they said she was probably with that guy somewhere. They can search for her after 48 hours.”
“That’s typical. I will find her, Mrs. Baker, don’t worry.”

After those two said good-bye Sherry headed straight towards the club where Lucy was supposed to be last night.
On her way she saw Jeremy on the opposite side of the road.
“Jeremy! Jeremy!” Sherry started to shout and wave to him but he pretended not to notice her. She ran across the street and addressed him again.
“Hi Jeremy, you are deaf?”
“Oh, hi Sherry, sorry I didn’t hear you. How are you? I’m little busy, sorry I gotta go.” Jeremy replied nervously and kept walking.
“Wait. I need to ask you something.”
“What?”
“What happened to Lucy last night?”
“I don’t know.”
“You don’t know? You were together, weren’t you?”
“No, I didn’t make it. I was playing with my younger sister and she tied me up and taped my mouth and left me like that for several hours. When I got there, the show was over and Lucy gone.”
“Hey, that’s the most stupid excuse I have ever heard. If something had happened to her, it would be your fault.” Sherry was pretty mad about him as he walked away without saying anything. She didn’t know him much but he looked like a real moron.
“I will never understand Lucy’s taste in men.” said she to herself and continued towards the club.

The Iturbide Club was really a dirty hole with several tables and the small stage.
“Looking for something, muchacha?”
Sherry turned around and saw a face of an elder Mexican bartender, who addressed her with strong Spanish accent in his voice.
“Yeah, hi, I’m looking for my friend. She was here yesterday. You’ll remember her, long black hair, really pretty, she looks like Rita Hayworth.”
“Oh, Rita Hayworth. She was a big success yesterday.”
“What?”
“They tied her up, put her in the box and ran swords through her.”
“What happened after that?”
“They took out those swords, untied her and she went away. Nothing happened to her. It was a real magic.”
“And she left bar?”
“Yes, she did.”
Once Sherry found herself on the street again, she was thinking what to do now. She was thinking where Lucy could go after the show if not home and she got really worried. For the first time in her life she felt really hopeless, no clues, no ideas, nothing.

As she was leaving the place, she noticed a van arriving to the back door of the club. “Chicolini, The Mute Magician” said the sign on its side.
“Getting ready for another show,” she said to herself and watched the van very closely.
A small man with a mustache dressed in a long leather coat got off followed by a black tall woman. She opened the back door of their van and two girls, who could have been of the same age as Sherry, jumped out. One of them took a brief look at Sherry and then started to unload the van, which was full of magician’s stage props.
For a moment Sherry was convinced that she saw Lucy but then she realized that though the resemblance of her face was remarkable, this girl had a chestnut tone of her hair and was little bit slimmer and taller than Lucy. In addition to that she smoked a cigarette. Lucy never smoked. The other girl looked like a gypsy and she was dressed in a colorful dress.
Lucy was staring at this strange four carrying the props into the club and suddenly she had the persistent feeling that something wasn’t right.
“This girl looks almost exactly like Lucy. What if it was her who returned from the box, while my poor Lucy is still in the hands of this freaky bunch?” Sherry decided to return to the club to solve this mystery once and for all.

“So you are back, muchacha?” Sherry heard the voice of the bartender behind her.
“Yeah, I got quite thirsty. Would you give me a glass of water, please?”
“Sure, sure.”
After she got her drink, the bartender left to wash some dirty dishes.
That was a perfect opportunity for Sherry to take a look around. She took a sip and put the glass on the nearest table. She climbed onto the stage and the first thing she saw was a small inconspicuous trap door in the middle. Sherry was sure that this was how Lucy got from that box. She didn’t see any button for opening.
There was another door leading to the backstage. She tried that one and it wasn’t locked. She went through and found herself in the small dressing room which was full of the props. The Mute Magician and his assistants were nowhere to be seen. After a little while she spotted a big black box with holes in it. That must be that box in which they placed Lucy. She opened it. There was a hole in the bottom of the same size as the trapdoor. Additionally Sherry noticed a pipe inside.
“What is that here for?”
There was a tube leading outside the box, which connected the pipe with a small gas-tank attached to the back of the box and covered by a black curtain.
“Of course, a sleeping gas. I think I’ve got it.” Sherry said to herself. Thinking aloud helped her to concentrate during her investigations. “They tied Lucy up inside this box, then knocked her out with the sleeping gas, opened the trapdoor, through which she fell downstairs under the stage and then they untied her, removed her clothes which that girl I mistook for Lucy put on herself. She must have had a black wig too. Then the gypsy girl tied her to the chair again and lifted her up through the trap door into the box before the act was finished. Nobody in the audience noticed that it was not Lucy. But why did they kidnap her for? Her mother isn’t rich and famous.”
“Bravo, Miss Rathbone.” said a deep feminine voice behind her. Sherry also heard a silent clapping. After she turned around she saw Xandria looking at her with an evil smile. She wore her stage outfit – a pair of leather pants and a red satin blouse. “You are cleverer than I thought.”
“Where is Lucy? What have you done to her?”
“Oh, she is in our little apartment. Don’t worry. You will join her soon. Get her, girls.”
Lucy’s double and the gypsy girl appeared behind Xandria and ran towards Sherry. She grabbed a chair, threw it at them and started to run away. The gypsy pushed the chair aside and they were after her. Sherry left the dressing room and found herself once again on the stage. As she was running she did not notice the hole in front of her and fell into it.
Oh, no, the trapdoor, she thought as she was lying on the big soft mattress under the podium. Xandria must have opened them from backstage.
“Come here girls. I got her.”
Sherry saw the magician’s assistant who was pointing to her with a gun in her hand.
“The game is over, Miss Rathbone. Don’t cause any more trouble or you will regret it. Truss her up, ladies.”
Both girls approached to Sherry with chains. She had no possibility but to give up and let herself get shackled. The girls made a very good job. She was completely bound and couldn’t move a muscle.
“You won’t get away with this. Do you hear me?”
Xandria laughed and stuffed a handkerchief in Sherry’s mouth.
“It’s a funny thing that all the snoopers like you always say the same think when they are about to be gagged.”
Sherry tried to spit that thing out but Xandria was quick and tied a silk scarf over it.
“We should blindfold her too,” said Lucy’s double.
“Good idea, Sammie.”
Another scarf was tied over Sherry’s eyes.
Great, she thought. I will never get out of this predicament. But it did not prevent her from struggling.
“And what now? She cannot stay here. Somebody might come and see her.”
“Take her to the dressing room. There is a place that is suitable just for our little detective.”

Sherry spent next several hours stuffed and locked in a wooden chest that wasn’t exactly large.
Poor sardines, at least I know now how they must feel, occurred to her. She decided not to waste her powers with struggling and trying to get loose and rather wait what happens next.

Chapter II: The Family Affair
Lucy Baker has spent last 24 hours tied up on the floor of the apartment which was hired by Chicolini, the Mute Magician and his assistant Miss Xandria. She was handcuffed so there was no chance of getting free without having a key. Her feet and knees were bound with duct tape and she was gagged, of course. A handkerchief was crammed in her mouth and sealed by three pieces of black duct tape. The blindfold over her eyes gave the final touch of the complete helplessness.
Suddenly she heard voices. Her captors were back. They entered the room in which she was imprisoned. She heard some muffled moaning, which could have meant only one thing. They had another prisoner. Lucy didn’t have to be Sherlock Holmes to figure out who it was. She moaned through her gag too.
“Hi Lucy, how are you? Lonely?” She recognized the voice of Miss Xandria. “We brought you a company. Your dearest friend Sherry was so good to join you in this situation.”
They laid Sherry next to her.
“Now Lucy, I will take your gag off and you must not scream. I need you to make a phone call for me, will you?”
Lucy said “yes” through her gag.
“Good.” Said Xandria and ripped off the duct tape from her mouth. Lucy spat the handkerchief.
“Please, don’t hurt us.”
“Nobody is going to hurt you, my dear. I have your cell phone here. I will dial your mom’s number and you will tell her to come here in half an hour and alone, okay?”
“What do you want from her?”
“You will soon find out. Now do as you are told. The address of this apartment is 221 Bruce Street.”
She dialed Mrs. Baker’s number and put the cell phone to Lucy’s ear.
“Lucy is that you, darling?” said the familiar voice on the other side.
“Yes mom, I’m all right.”
“Where are you? Why don’t you come home?”
“I’m at 221 Bruce Street. Be here in 30 minutes and alone.” said Lucy almost crying.
“What happened to you?”
Xandria took the phone from Lucy.
“She’s alright Mrs. Baker, little tied up maybe but alright. Be here in half an hour, alone and she won’t get hurt. No police, do you understand?”
“Wait, who are you?”
“You’ve got thirty minutes. Hurry.” said Xandria with the threatening voice and hang up.
Before Lucy could have said anything else the handkerchief was crammed into her mouth again and secured with other three pieces of tape.

It wasn’t even 30 minutes when both captives could have heard long ringing of the doorbell and then voices in the hall. One of them belonged to Xandria and the other to Lucy’s mom.
“Are you alone?”
“Yes, where is my daughter, please?”
“Follow me, Mrs. Baker.”
They entered the room where both girls were tied up. Mrs. Baker saw Lucy.
“Oh my god, Lucy. Are you okay, honey?” she cried and was obviously very terrified. Before she could do anything else, Xandria grabbed her arm.
“Come on, Mrs. Baker. Won’t you sit down on this chair?”
“Let me untie my daughter, please.” She tried to pull her arm out of Xandria’s clasp but the black woman held her very tightly.
“I SAID, SIT DOWN.” Xandria shouted at her and frightened Mrs. Baker couldn’t do anything else but to obey.
She sat on the chair.
“Please, tell me what this is all about. Why did you have to kidnap my daughter and her friend?”
“You will know everything soon.”
“Are you okay, girls?” Mrs. Baker repeated her question. Both captives nodded yes.
“Graciela!” shouted Miss Xandria and the gypsy girl appeared in the room. Mrs. Baker saw several ropes in her hands.
“What is that for?” she asked and it was apparent that she was still getting more and more frightened.
“You won’t mind being tied up, Mrs. Baker, will you?” asked Xandria.
“Please don’t tie me up.”
Graciela acted as if she didn’t hear it. She grabbed her wrists and tied them very tightly behind her back.
It did not take much time and Lucy’s mom was completely tied to the chair.
“Now, that’s much better.” said Xandria smiling, after she saw forty-year old raven-haired woman, dressed in blue jeans and blue long-sleeved denim shirt with her wrists, knees and ankles securely tied and another rope wound around her chest.
“Please, now that you’ve got me all tied up, let the girls go.”
Xandria laughed. “Don’t be naive Mrs. Baker. It’s not possible now.”
“Why are we here?”
“As I have already said, you will find out soon. For now I think it will be better if you are quiet.”
“What?”
Xandria produced a long white silk scarf, tied the knot in the middle and approached to the tied up woman.
“What’s that for?”
“You don’t watch TV, Mrs. Baker? That’s what we kidnappers call the gag. Now open your mouth and don’t make it worse for you.”
“Please ...” After she said that Xandria stuffed the knot into her mouth and tied the scarf behind her head very tightly.
“Mmmmmmph, mmmmmmph.” Her moans only made Xandria smile.

The door opened and Chicolini, the Mute Magician, followed by Sammie, Lucy’s double, entered the room.
“Ladies and prisoners,” said Xandria with a resonant voice. “Let me introduce you to the famous Mute Magician Chicolini.” Sammie and Graciela untied Sherry’s and Lucy’s blindfolds and started to clap their hands smiling.
The magician stopped right in front of Mrs. Baker and spoke:
“Hello Peggy, don’t you recognize me?”
Mrs. Baker looked at the magician with unconcealed horror in her eyes and made a very loud moan.
“Yes, it’s me, dear sister.”
The magician took off his mustache and his hat. Suddenly a big change occurred and Peggy Baker wasn’t looking at the Mute Magician anymore. There was a woman with long black hair who looked exactly like Lucy’s mother.
Peggy made another loud moan while the woman in front of her produced a wide smile.
“Won’t you say hello to your beloved sister Abby?”
Then she removed her long leather coat, underneath which she was wearing leather pants and a silk blouse with a tie. Then she sat on the chair still staring at her terrified sister.
“So how long has it been? More than 19 years? I started to miss you, Peg, so I, together with the help of my dear friends and my daughter Sammie, decided to take the liberty of kidnapping your Lucy and bringing the happy family together again. What a pity, mom and dad are no longer among us to see it.”
Sherry was astonished. That girl who looked like Lucy was in fact her cousin of whose existence nobody had the slightest idea. Why didn’t it occur to me? She asked herself.
Abby lit a cigarette and blew the smoke in Peggy’s face. She coughed and the smell of smoke made her sick.
“Do you remember what happened 19 years ago on this very same day?”
Peggy did not say anything but the expression of her face suggested that she did.
“That day I was preparing for the date with Steven, my new boyfriend. I couldn’t have known that you were going out with him too. When I was just about to leave the house you surprised me, overpowered me, tied me up and gagged me with my own sock and left me helpless in the closet and went out with Steven instead of me.
After that you returned with that beautiful diamond ring, which was meant for me and you laughed at me saying that he asked you to marry him. I was so sore at you and left the house as soon as you untied me. I went to Steven but he said he changed his mind about me and that he did not wish to speak about it anymore. And do you know what that idiot said? He said that we could still be friends. So I slapped him several times and left. I certainly did not want to come back home and I didn’t even want to stay in one town with you two. I had nowhere to go but I was lucky. There was a circus in Bakersfield and they were leaving that night. So I decided to run away with them. There was a magician who called himself Chicolini. He was really good to me and let me stay in his caravan and we fell in love with each other and got married. After a little while I found out I was pregnant but there was no doubt that Steven was the father of my child. After I gave birth to Sammie, Chicolini made me his assistant and we lived together very happily until he drowned last year during the performance of the escape from water tank.
You can imagine that I was devastated but and I left the circus where we were so happy. The only things that gave me power were my dear Sammie and the thought of revenge. Yes, after the death of my husband I decided for vengeance on you, dear sister. I adopted the persona of Chicolini, the Mute Magician and together with Xandria and Graciela who left the circus with me, I created my own show.
I admit it was a failure as Lucy can testify but our goal wasn’t to amaze the audience but to get back to Bakersfield incognito so that we could kidnap you and your daughter. What a pity Steven cannot join you. I heard that he had left you several years ago but it doesn’t matter. I hate you more than him.
After I saw Lucy in front of the school and found out that she is almost the exact copy of my Sammie, I came up with this brilliant plan of mine and the rest was easy. Graciela paid that nerd Jeremy to ask Lucy out and then not to show up. She said to him that it was supposed to be a surprise party and he was so stupid that he did not suspect anything. The rest you know. And so we are here to enjoy our little family reunion.”
She looked at Mrs. Baker with the smile of triumph. The frightened look at Peggy’s face was replaced by anger. She started to grunt loudly through her gag and killing her sister with her eyes.
“Do you have anything to say, Peg?” asked Abby and pulled out her gag.
“Of course, I have something to say, you bitch. I did it. I did tie you up and stole your boyfriend but you did exactly the same to me at least five times. Every guy I dated, you stole. Every time I wanted to go out you tied me up and went instead of me. It was nothing but revenge, you mmmmmph.”
The gag was returned to its original place.
“Enough. This revenge as you say will cost you your life and your daughter’s too, dear sister.”
“Mmmmoooo.”
“Yes. I have been waiting for this moment so long and I am going to enjoy it.”
All three captives started to moan as loudly as they could and struggle their bonds but it was useless.
Sherry was so upset that they had bound her with chains. She was convinced that she could have untied the ropes but not the chains. After all she was no Houdini.
Their abductors looked very amused by seeing their hopeless efforts to free themselves.
“Okay, take my sister and niece to our van. We will take them back to the Iturbide Club. It will be empty by now. We can finish them there.” ordered Abby.
“And what about her?” Xandria pointed at Sherry.
“Leave her here and set the apartment on fire.”
After hearing this, Sherry started producing the loudest screams the gag allowed her. She was watching Xandria untying Peggy from the chair and tying her hands again and them taking her outside. Lucy was being led out by her cousin. Graciela poured the bottle of liquor all over the room, then lit a cigarette and dropped it on the floor.
Sherry was left alone in the burning apartment desperately moaning and struggling with chains even though she knew that she had no chance.
So this is the end, thought she. I’m going to die in this room, burnt by a bunch of criminals. How elementary, dear Sherry.
The smoke was getting into her eyes and nose. She started to cough. The flames were near. And then she passed out.

Chapter III: Let’s swim together
Abby and her accomplices brought Lucy and her mother back to the Iturbide club. It was closed but there was no problem to break in since there was no alarm. Who would burgle this dirty hole anyway?
The captives were taken inside and seated on the floor in the dressing room. They were snuggling against each other, trying to communicate through their gags. Lucy had so much to say to her mother. She wanted to apologize for every time she argued with her or disobeyed her and Peggy wanted to say she was sorry for causing this situation.
“Bring all the things we need, girls.” commanded Abby. “You will be astonished by the death I prepared for you, ladies.”

Sherry woke up. She was feeling very dizzy and her head was aching. She was still bound but not gagged any more. There was no fire, no smoke. Fresh air got into her nose and lounges. It was wonderful.
She saw an indeterminate face of an angel smiling at her.
“What happened? Is this heaven?”
“No honey. You are all right now.” said a kind voice.
“Mom?”
“Yes dear. Thanks god I got here in time.”
“But how did you know where I was?”
“Mrs. Baker called me and told me what happened. She said Lucy had been kidnapped and was afraid that you something might have happened to you as well. She told me where she was going and asked me to go with her. I was waiting in the hall hidden in shadows and when I saw Peg and Lucy being taken away I called the police and entered the apartment to look for you. When I saw that fire I was afraid I was late. Thanks god I wasn’t. I dragged you out.
“Mom, I don’t know how to thank you.”
“It’s okay honey.” She hugged her daughter and kissed her on her brow.
Sherry took a look around. She saw flames in one of the highest floors of the building. The inhabitants were outside. The approaching sounds of sirens were heard in the distance.
“Mom! We must get to the Iturbide club. Lucy and Mrs. Baker are there. We must save them.”
“We will wait for the police.”
“There is no time. They can be dead by now. We must get these chains off.”
Mrs. Rathbone examined the heavy locks on her daughter’s bonds.
“I think I can handle this.”
A hair grip appeared in her hand.
“I have done this before. Nobody was tied up of course.” She smiled and started to work. After a little while the locks on Sherry’s chains were unlocked and she shook them off.
Her mom helped her on her feet because after several hours of being tied up, Sherry’s limbs were numb.
“Quickly, we must get to the car.”
“But what about the police?”
“We will call them during the ride. Hurry mom!!!”
The insistent tone of her daughter’s voice persuaded her to go.

Lucy and her mother were tied up back to back and hanging on the long chain from the ceiling. Their struggling had no other result than slow cradling. They were screaming as loud as they could through their gags but that only made Abby and her henchwomen laugh.
However, this wasn’t the worst part. The chain was slowly moving down and there was a big glass tank filled with water underneath them.
“So my dearest family, this is the end of the way. You will die in several minutes and after that I will leave this goddamn town for good and start to live a new life, a happy one. But first I will enjoy the greatest show ever, the death of a woman who spoiled my whole life.”
The moaning and muffled pleadings were filling the empty Iturbide club as the chain was slowly descending.
“Xandria, Graciela, I must thank you for your great work. I wouldn’t manage this plan without you but I hope you won’t mind if I ask you to leave. This is a family affair and I want to spend it only with my beloved daughter.”
“Sure thing, boss, we will wait outside,” smiled Graciela and they both left.

“Do you still have a roll of duct tape in your car, mom?” asked Sherry when they stopped the car on a parking lot nearby the club.
“Of course honey, why do you ask?”
“I have a feeling that we will need it.”
“What for?”
“Tying up, gagging, whatever.”
“No honey, we will wait for the police.”
“Mom, there is no time for that. We must act quickly, trust me. Their life depends on it.”
Mrs. Rathbone hesitated for a little while but Sherry grabbed the duct tape and ran to the club.
“Sherry, wait!” shouted she and followed her daughter.

Graciela was leaning with her shoulder against the van and smoking a cigarette. She heard someone behind her but before she could turn around, a hand clamped over her mouth and the next thing she knew, she was lying on the ground and someone was sitting on her back. She heard the familiar sound of the duct tape being unrolled. A piece of tape over her lips prevented her from screaming for help.
“How do you like it, now?” asked Sherry.
“Mmmmmmph.” If she wasn’t gagged her response would be very, very impolite.
Sherry tied her wrists behind her back and then her knees and ankles.
The helpless gypsy was struggling furiously on the pavement, cursing Sherry through her gag.
“Well done, Miss Rathbone. Now stand up and put your hands up slowly or your mom will get hurt.”
Sherry turned abruptly. Xandria was standing behind her. Her left hand was clamped over Sherry’s mom’s mouth and there was the gun in the other hand pointing to Mrs. Rathbone’s head.
“Ok now. Tear off a piece of tape and put it over your mouth.”
Sherry did as she was told.
“And now wrap the tape around your ankles, quickly.”
But before Sherry could have done that, Mrs. Rathbone had reacted. She buried her high heel into Xandria’s feet and the black woman screamed with pain and let her go. The punch into her stomach forced her to drop the gun and put her hands over her belly. Mrs. Rathbone knocked her down on the ground.
“Quickly Sherry, let’s tie her up.” shouted she as she was kneeling on Xandria’s back.

After a moment Sherry and her mother put those two bound and gagged women into the van and ran quickly to the club.
What they saw on the stage left them speechless. Lucy and her mom were hanging from the ceiling and now they were half way inside the tank. Water was up to their chests. They were shivering with cold. Abby and Sammie were watching them with the smiles of pleasure on their faces. Abby was still repeating some pathetic nonsense about revenge.
“Game is over, Abby.” shouted Sherry and pointed Xandria’s gun to her.
“They are going to drown and there is not a single thing you could do about it, Sherry Rathbone.”
Both captives descended deeper into water again. The water was now up to their chins.
“Hands up, both of you.” shouted Sherry.
Abby and her daughter started to laugh.
“I’m not joking.” said Sherry with a rough voice and to prove that she was not joking she fired a bullet, aiming at the ground in front of Abby.
They both found out she was serious and stuck their hands up.
“Mom, keep an eye on them.”
Sherry handed the gun to her mother and turned her attention to Lucy and Peggy.
“Hold on. I must find something to set you free.”
They did not respond because their mouths were in the water. One more move down and the water would get into their noses.
At first she wanted to find the mechanism of the device and pull the chain up again but then she saw something else. She grabbed the axe and approached the tank.
“Attention everybody, we are gonna swim now.”
After several blows the glass cracked and the water splashed out swiftly. Sherry, her mother and the two villains were all wet but it didn’t matter because Lucy and her mom were safe, now.
While Sherry started untying them, the two uniformed officers burst into the club.
“Great timing, guys.” smiled Sherry.
“Great timing too, Sherry.” said Lucy after her friend took her gag off.
