Stories- finishing and posting

Hey all!

I want to ask something, and that is about stories (and finishing them). What do you think about stories which get posted chapterwise, often with much time passing before a new chapter arrives?

I want to put my point of view in this posting, too.
Let me explain why I write stories the way I do.
I am no professional writer, heck I am not even good at it. I have a family, I have a job, I have other hobbies. Sometimes this prevents me from writing- either because I simply have no time, or because my mind is filled with other things.

I don't sit at my desk and write 30.000+ word stories in one piece.
To me, writing is a process...I write a chapter, reread it, rewrite it, and if I feel the need to, I post it. The feedback I get sometimes gives me a hint of how exactly I will write the next chapter (that's the basic principle...in reality, I have often written one chapter or so ahead).

Is that good writing? I don't know. But that is the way I write. And that is one reason, why my stories are like they are.
If you like, you can think of that as some kind of serial, with a chapter being just one episode.

So,, what's your two cents to this?

Cheers
