He would be too old to qualify for a transplant and would die. How is that ethical?

He has nothing to worry about--he's got free medical care for life. Now, if only they could locate his heart.

it would really make it tough for me to afford to buy my medications even through insurance. As for Joseph Biden I honestly have heard rumors he does not have the best health right now as it stands.

But he does have the best health care the taxpayers can afford. Just like congress.

And if this ObamaCare thing is so great, why did congress exempt itself from it?

Because they already have a better one at taxpayer expense, and being even more selfish than they are stupid they don't want to give it up. :big:

Okay, I agree Bieden isn't a whole lot better but at least he isn't the cold-blooded asshole who short-changes American soldiers and overcharges the American military for substandard goods to line his own pockets the way Cheney was. IMO Cheney was a worse crook than Nixon ever even thought of being! Bieden by comparison is merely a faceless do-nothing.

More likely they decided to give him something he lacked all along until now - or at best, like the Grinch's heart, it was two sizes too small.

Credit where credit is due. Obama is a good speaker, and I have to give him that. He's still teleprompter dependent, and he is speaking someone else's words, but his oratory ability is a lot better than those who would replace him. His real test will come in the three debates with his eventual opponent. He'll be up there without the teleprompter, and without his speechwriter's words to read.

I think he'll do well against Romney or Santorum, but Gingrich would hand him his head. Ron Paul would hand him Ron Paul's head. (Gingrich was, I believe, a college professor before getting in to politics, and a skilled debater.)

1. You keep mentioning his teleprompter; something I see certain political cartoonists (especially the clueless Glenn McCoy) do as well? Why does his using a teleprompter matter to you so much? If it weren't for others mentioning this, would you have even noticed? Considering that Bush was also a heavy teleprompter user (though not as much so as Obama perhaps and certainly not heavy enough, considering all the gaffs he made while talking), why do you care is Obama is too? Since you say he wastes time, why do you want him wasting time memorizing complex speeches needlessly?
2. I said I'd look for nice things to say about Cheney. I didn't say I'd find any!!!

The teleprompter, while a necessity for news anchors, is widely regarded as a "crutch" for politicians to lean on. It's one thing to have one up when you are delivering a speech, but when it's there when Obama is talking to school kids, it gives the impression that he can't think on his feet; that he leans on that teleprompter to put together just the right words.

Maybe he doesn't want to risk repeating stupid mistakes others have made in the past. Remember Dan Quayle telling a kid that potato is spelled p-o-t-a-t-o-e? And maybe those teleprompters *impress* the school kids more than they do you. My question still stands... if others hadn't made a big deal about this in a desperate attempt to make him look bad, would you have ever noticed this yourself? Or cared if you did?
Others like to make light of the fact that he's a chain smoker. That he plays gold and basketball in his spare time. Why is *that* a big deal? Yet I see political cartoonists poke fun at this all the time, as if they couldn't find more relevent things to comment about!

When you're in the public eye, you catch flak, no matter who you are, or what you do. And so what if the teleprompters impress school kids. The kids don't vote. He ought to be worried about impressing those 18 or older, who do vote.

And actually, he is not, as far as I know, a chain smoker, although he does smoke. I also heard that he has attempted to quit, but there's no word if he's been successful at doing so.

I used to smoke, but quit cold turkey about seven or eight years ago. Hardest damn thing I ever did, and for the first couple of months, I was a mean, ill-tempered SOB. Some people tell me I haven't changed. :-)

No, whatever else he is, he isn't an idiot. If anything, he is smarter than Bush Junior at least was. That man was an idiot!
I won't argue the asshole point however... except to say that, again, IMO, Bush Junior was an even bigger one. However, much as I disliked Bush senior also, at least he was neither an idiot nor (too much of) an asshole.

No, that just means you're not feeling well. You can't always help yourself when the need to puke occurs without warning; especially if you happen to have acid-reflux.
In any case, I don't know about Obama doing this, but there was an incident where President Bush (Sr not Jr) did exactly this in 1992!

OK, I'll give you that one. People that graduate form Columbia and Harvard are not idiots. Unfortunately, that's the problem with about 90% of the people that graduate from Ivy League colleges. They come out amazingly "book smart," but have the common sense of a kumquat, giving the impression that they have difficulty walking and chewing gum at the same time.

And since Bush graduated from Yale, he can't really be considered an idiot, either.

Of course, the greatest embarrassment to his Alma Mater has to be Jimmy Carter. He graduated from the Naval Academy in Annapolis.

Kumquat: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kumquat (for those that don't know what one is.)

No dispute about Jimmy Carter from me. He was a nice guy all around (and has done a lot of good after leaving the Presidency), but he was a rotten President simply because he lacked force of character! His inability to resolve the Iranian Hostage Situation after 444 days, and having it resolved the very day Reagen took office, showed the differences between the two in such sharp contrast as to be unforgettable. I wouldn't call him an idiot though; he simply lacked grit! Obama has more grit than Carter did, but less than Reagan or (either) Bush.

A joke for everyone:

Kashana Burnett, 23, a resident of San Diego, was visiting her in-laws and while there went to a nearby supermarket to pick up some groceries. Later, her husband noticed her sitting in her car in the driveway with the windows rolled up and with her eyes closed, with both hands behind the back of her head. He became concerned and walked over to the car.

He noticed that Kashana's eyes were now open and she looked very strange. He asked her if she was okay, and Linda replied that she had been shot in the back of the head and had been holding her brains in for over an hour.

The husband called the paramedics, who broke into the car because the doors were locked and Kashana refused to remove her hands from her head.

When they finally got in, they found that Kashana had a wad of bread dough on the back of her head. A Pillsbury biscuit canister had exploded from the heat, making a loud noise that sounded like a gunshot, and the wad of dough hit her in the back of her head. When she reached back to find out what it was, she felt the dough and thought it was her brains. She initially passed out, but quickly recovered.

Kashana is a Democrat and an Obama supporter, but that could all be a coincidence.

The defective biscuit canister was analyzed and the expiration date was found to be from 2008, so it was determined to be Bush's fault.
