Veteran's Day aka Armistice Day

Here is an old poem I dug up from memory.

Reply to Flander's Fields

"Oh ye who sleep in Flander's Fields
sleep sweet to rise anew.
We caught the torch you threw
and holding high we keep the faith with all who died.

We cherish too the poppy red
which grows on fields where valor led.
It seems to signal to the skies
that blood of heroes never dies
but lends a lustre to the red
of the flower that blooms above the dead in Flander's Fields.

So now the torch and poppy red
we wear in honor of our dead.
Fear not that ye have died for naught
We've learned the lesson that ye taught in Flander's Fields."
From whence I came and whence I went heaven said I was too evil and sent me to hell. Demons and devils succeeded in breaking my soul.

It was written by a Canadian who served back then. Unfortunately I only remember that his last name was McCrae.
From whence I came and whence I went heaven said I was too evil and sent me to hell. Demons and devils succeeded in breaking my soul.

"Today the guns are silent. A great tragedy has ended. A great victory has been won. The skies no longer rain death -- the seas bear only commerce men everywhere walk upright in the sunlight. The entire world is quietly at peace. The holy mission has been completed. And in reporting this to you, the people, I speak for the thousands of silent lips, forever stilled among the jungles and the beaches and in the deep waters of the Pacific which marked the way. I speak for the unnamed brave millions homeward bound to take up the challenge of that future which they did so much to salvage from the brink of disaster.

As I look back on the long, tortuous trail from those grim days of Bataan and Corregidor, when an entire world lived in fear, when democracy was on the defensive everywhere, when modern civilization trembled in the balance, I tank a merciful God that He has given us the faith, the courage and the power from which to mold victory. We have known the bitterness of defeat and the exultation of triumph, and from both we have learned there can be no turning back. We must go forward to preserve in peace what we won in war."

-General Mcarthur

He said that in a speech

War is a terrible thing, even though for some it provides jobs, and freedom, we must avoid it at whatever means necessary. We must march on from such conflicts, but not forget them. and we cannot forget the combatants in that conflict

God Bless Our Veterans
God Bless The United States of America and all of our honorable allies

My papa and all the great men and women who lost their lives or were maimed fighting the Axis rest in peace. A huge thank you to Allies past and present, committed to freedom - and peace.

We need more brave and courageous Men and Women like them Everywhere - today, more than ever.

Thank you, Veterans. Thank you, soldiers of every land.
