I live in New Jersey, the storm finally finish ripping through and continued north. I am alright, we had flooding in town, and some power loss, although my place is fine. Also a few downed trees. Since NJ isnt used to hurricanes things were a big deal here, but overall we are alright, how is anyone else that was affected doing?

It's coming here, in Quebec, raining a bit and weak winds, but they said it's going to intensify. Neither are we used to hurricanes, but I'm sort of excited/curious to see what it's gonna be like!

The media hyped this too big, saying it would be a category 3...it turned out to be a 1 and is now a tropical depression.

Wow a somewhat sad republican politicus (think the name was Bachmann) is claiming Irine was ''a warning from god'' Oh, please like God would actually go out of his way to ''warn'' America. Considering Irine wasn't that bad its actually a bit insulting to him :big:

Kinda ironic cause suposedly god sent Irine to tell the white house to chance their policy while its the republican's policy that's behind the recent political screwups

Irene passed close by Maine but it didn't amount too much here. Though there were some power outages, I've seen regular rainstorms that blew harder and dumped more rain on us than this storm did. I was almost disappointed. Almost.

Now she’s claiming it was a joke. So we can choose A or B:
A. Bachmann is an idiot for believing the hurricane was punishment from God.
B. Bachmann is an idiot for believing a “joke” like that is funny.

Of course, Michael Moore said the same thing about Hurricane Gustav in 2008, except that it was a “gift” from God.
So idiocy is not confined to one side of the political spectrum.

I'm in Pennsylvania. We're fortunate TWO ways :

GOD is looking out for us - my family and I have well, a _hunch_ that in all the harm happening around us, HE surely has encircled us by a Star Trek "shield" of a kind that holds the harm near us at bay.

The other way is, we're near the Allegheny Mountain Ridge. That helps.

The reason Irene was comparable to a cat 3 was nj has a lot of foliage that's not used to such winds. We had a few trees come down. Also, there are a lot of lakes in north jersey so there was a lot of flooding.
