I don't think being a veteran would make you a better president. It probably wont hurt your performance but i'm not expecting a big differance in quality between a veteran president and a non veteran one. At the end of the day all what matters is how good a politician and leader you are. Not sure if this is a relevant example but Grant was the most decorated millitary man of his day and his presidency was a dissaster, unfortunately i'd say because i quite like the man.

I do however think that a president that has been in the army has a better chance of fixing the mess in the middle east and generally can be counted on to use the army more competently.

Abraham Lincoln's military experience was limited to militia service where he basically cleaned up after battles and buried dead (to be fair, militias back then were generally equated with military service compared to today, however, he never did really risk his life). He is often considered the best president this country ever had. Ulyssess S. Grant, the hero of the Union near the end of the war, had one of the most corrupt administrations in US history. That's just two examples on each end of the spectrum.

Military service means very little when it comes to doing a good job as president.

Here's a list of presidents who served in the military. Many have, many haven't. Some with military backgrounds were great presidents, others...not so much. The same is true among those who didn't serve.

He's a putz. He was involved in a lawsuit against another SEAL that was gunned down here in the states, so what does he do? He goes to court, and asks that the dead SEAL's wife be added to his lawsuit. What an ass.

I can see the election bumper stickers now.

And if we wins:
My president can beat up your dictator!

Right, I know somebody will tell me I don't have a dog in this fight but if you read to the end then you'll know why I express the opinion that I do.

Jesse Ventura does come across as a bit of a macho ass. He gives the impression that if you're a male that is not an alpha-male, you're second-rate. That may not be his opinion, but it is certainly the vibe he gives off. As much as I respect him for his great military service, I also don't think there's a pressing need to bring it up at every opportunity. He is also a 9/11 truther (OK, I don't actually hold that against him - at all - but still...), and I know that he has several other political views that I disagree with. There seems to be little in the way of progressivism on his agenda. I would NOT want this guy leading my country.

But nobody's asking him to run in my country; we're talking about America, and THAT is an election campaign I would support. Why? He is the transparent solution to an unholy rock-and-a-hard-place choice the Donkeys and Doughnuts have served up. When Obama was re-elected, I was relieved as I believed that only an idiot would've voted for Romney. (How many million Americans have I just insulted? I'm sorry, but they deserve it). Since then, Obama seems to have decided he won too easily and it is only fair to make it a two-horse race again by making the Democrats just as unelectable as the Republicans. If only there was a way to vote for neither of them...

Aha! Jesse Ventura is on the record as being highly critical of the two party system; the time has come for a charismatic independent President. I think he would bring in transparency to a system that is corrupt to the core, and he might just sort out that NSA can of worms while he's at it. Ventura is a man who is guaranteed to speak his mind and that sort of blunt honesty is a much desirable quality in the President of the United States. Just for the record, I like him, but I thought since I was lending my moral support it was probably more productive to open with a critique to show I'm not a "band-wagon jumper" :) I have no doubt that he will keep to his word to run if he gains enough support, so over to you America: make it happen.

"If only there was a way to vote for neither of them..."

I voted 3rd-party, specifically because I couldn't bring myself to vote for Obama or Romney.

I'll say this about Ventura, I do like that he doesn't sugarcoat anything. I actually think that would get him in trouble. And I still don't think that he's a particularly good candidate. Depending on who he runs against, he might look pretty good.

I am not really qualified to comment, but any candidate who wears a Hendrix T-shirt gets at least my consideration.

Jesse is a deluded ass. See also his demented ramblings about 9/11 being an inside job and the government controlling your mind via HAARP.
