I'm currently reading Roadside Picnic. It's a Soviet-era science fiction novel based on the aftermath of an extraterrestrial event (The event was called the Visitation) which took place in six separate locations around Earth for two days. The event created six zones which are called the Visitation Zones. The zones exhibit strange and dangerous phenomena not understood by humans, and contain artifacts with supernatural characteristics. Many world governments are trying to keep tight control over to the zones to prevent the leak of artifacts, but groups of people called Stalkers go into the zones to hunt for the artifacts. If you enjoy the science fiction genre you should read this book immediately!

Well, I still need to finish A Dance of Dragons, but I find myself procrastinating. Likely because there are long releases for the book series its part of, so there's no big hurry.
Check out my latest story A Cowboy's Dream!

Once I took a job 5ish years ago that potentially has a lot of downtime, I took to reading at work. I burn through books quickly, especially when it's slow at work. As such, a series of books suits me well. I burned through A Song of Ice and Fire (...Game of Thrones to the layperson), then moved onto Stephen King's Dark Tower series. After that I spent some time reading (and rereading) a lot of King's material. I generally enjoy everything he writes. For the past year or so I have been reading The Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind. I am currently on the last book of it, it's been quite a ride. Once it's done I will be starting the infamous Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan.

I'm traveling by train a lot these days so I increased my readings quite a bit. Its more productive then just sleeping the entire trip and a good place for any gap in your schedule.

I have been picking up the Percy Jackson series since last April and am nearing the end of it. For the most part its for a bit younger audience but I'd recommencement it. Its not perfect but the humor does a good job of masking that.

I have been working on my history a lot too. I'm currently reading a monster work of no less then 1400 pages on Dutch history and i'm waiting for the newest biography about emperor Augustus to be translated into Dutch.

I should really go read the ice and fire series but I find the idea mildly terrifying
