Private Messages Stuck in "Outbox?"

Postby DesertFox » Sat Feb 28, 2015 1:33 am

Hey all,

I tried to send a few PMs today, and they've been listed under "outbox" for a while now. Have these messages been sent, or are they waiting for replies, or are they waiting for some type of approval, etc.? Just wondering!

Thanks,

-DF

They should not be awaiting approval. Probably just haven't been seen by the recipient yet.

As I explained to another user who asked the same question recently by PM, outbox simply means the intended recipient has not opened their inbox since you sent their message. Once they do, your PMs are listed as Sent; whether or not they are actually read. The change has absolutely nothing to do with anything you did or did not do.
The opening of their Inbox is in fact the ONLY thing the change from Outbox to Sent indicates. Some people take days, weeks, or even months to open their outbox if they're new members or are simply dabblers. Usually when something of mine stays in the outbox for a month (which usually happens only when I address a new user), I assume it's never going to get read and delete it.

Ah, thank you guys. They just went to "sent," and I didn't know it worked like that.

No worries. As I said, someone else was puzzled about that very question just this past month.
Any time you have any other questions, feel free to PM me directly with them.
