My final Story (Part 3):The Secrets Revealed Finally Under W

Postby jennifer » Tue Jan 11, 2011 8:08 am

Hi everyone,

I realize I just finished posting a story not that long ago here. I also realize that this particular area on this forum might not be the proper place for this post. I know Canuck, Zanev, and the other board owners and moderators are likely going to read this and I hope they will be kind enough to grace me with an exception. There will be a story with this post in the near future. However, at this time I think I need to explain a few things before I proceed.

I have been writing with this community on and off for the better part of four and a half years now. I have put out a couple hundred pages of my childhood here and I have received a lot of feedback from the community. The majority of it has been positive, but of course there are a few critiques of my writing and that is to be expected. Either way I am grateful for the comments when I get them. I appreciate everyone's reading and interest in my stories as I have posted them here and other places around the web. It has been a rewarding experience sharing with all of you. However, the time for my doing that is drawing to a close.

I am no longer a 25 year old girl living on her own in an apartment working for a friend from college trying to hold a life together. A great deal had changed in my life over the last year and a half. I got married and became a step mother. A few months ago, I lost two people who were very close to me. One of them was one of my parents. It was a hard time in my life and it was one of the reasons I quit posting for some time recently. Last night, after I posted the latest part of my newest story, I found something else out. I am not just going to be a stepmother any more, my family is going to be expanding late this summer. Taking all this in stride, and that a few years ago I didn't think I was going to live to see 29 because of a car accident. Thankfully that didn't work out that way. I have begun to look at my life in a whole new sense.

Back when I started writing here, life was simple, I had home, work, friends and the occasional visit to my family. Other than that my life was open and my own and I had plenty of free time to write. It gave me a place to share my past and make some connections that have proven to be life long friends so far. But, now my life is filling up with new responsibilities and it's time to make room for them. So, this next story that I write here will be my last. A new chapter in my life is beginning and I think it is time to close this one off.

That being said, I decided that I didn't want to just say a fond farewell to the community and walk away completely without a final bow. So, I thought I would post this before I posted what would be my final story that I am going to share with this community. In my more recent stories, I shared a few details that I thought were important to the background of my writing. The fact that I kept a journal of all my tie ups and more recently, the special friend who encouraged me to write in the first place.

I didn't sleep last night at all. I was too excited. Instead I went downstairs and flipped on the computer and loaded up a couple of old disks that are just filled with text files. I have another 3 or 4 hundred memories that I could work into a readable story for this site. I am by no means low on material to share from growing up. I am however, short on time to share them all. I wanted my final story not to be just some weekend where I got tied up by Sean or Mary. I wanted it to be something special and something that I could leave this community with a sense of completeness about my experiences. I already knew the one I was going to use before I sat down. I just wanted to do the search to confirm it. I made my selection and I will begin sharing the story, sometime here next week most likely.

It is going to be a long one. I am hoping that I finish all of it before my arrival this summer. I have become quite adept at writing shorter stories and even some longer narratives spanning around 40 or 50 pages. However, this one will be much longer than anything that I have written up to this point. I will be posting the story in 4 to 10 page pieces as has become my habit, but it will be much longer than anything I have ever written. I am not going to set a schedule for my posting on this either. For example, I won't post every Friday at 8:00 in the morning. I will write when I can find time. It might be two days or two weeks between parts. We'll just have to see how it goes. I don't know how we want to handle comments for this story. My guess is that it's going to be just one long post with a whole lot of pages.

Well everyone, that is about it. Stay tuned I will begin my final story in the week to come.

Jennifer

Jen,

Sorry for your loss, and congrats on the pending addition to your family. My own writings have gotten few and far between since getting married and adding children to the mix over the past 7 1/2 years so I understand fully where you're coming from.

Your stories have always been fun to read, looking forward to reading your final posting.

Brent.

I'll be sad to see you go, I have definitely enjoyed reading your stories - even if I have not posted in reply to show that support. To be honest as I began to fully understand my newfound life at age 12 I found this site... The first big story I read was from you! You were always one of my favorite authors on this board. You put so much effort into them and I look forward to what I am sure is going to be a grand finale! Congratulations on your marraige and pregnency and wish you the best of luck in your future.

Jennifer,

Sorry for your loss. It's a sad thing to be left by a close loved one.

Its a sad thing that you would have to leave this board, but I understand, all this must come to an end. You have graced all of us here with your wonderful stories, and I am thankful that I had read all or most of them. Its truly wonderful that you have experienced it, and we can share it, even if it was only by reading it. I think I can positively say that you have posted more words into this board, and in the old board, than any other single author, and you are one of the best authors of this site and the old.

I wish you luck and happiness with your new life.

Thank you, thank you, for all the wonderful stories you have shared with us. Thank you.

Oh yes, I am looking forward to your final story.

Thomas

Condolences on your loss, but a congrats on all that you've gained...you're stories have been some of the best on here, and even if it will be the final one, I look foreword to your next story...

Have you ever thought about just uploading the raw text of your old stories to your site? It's a long shot, but...would make for some nice reading even if it is just the raw files

Hallo FeliDaKitten know that Jennifer that would never would, because she had to chance every name and places to protect the other person in her stories. What I honer very much and I think also that very great part the text she have shown us as her stories. In 10 or 20 years she can us only tell if family tradition has in next generation. Or her child can do it It want.

Hi, all

Thanks for all the support. I have begun typing the first part of my final story. It should be up either this weekend or early next week. I have had a good run with this community and I am grateful for everything, However, it is time to move on.

As for the request, I assume you are referring to the journal I kept growing up. If not, I am not sure what you are. If you are referring to it, the short answer is no. I would have to go through and change all the names in it, proofread the whole thing, and try to edit enough of the grammar to make it into something readable. That would be more work than I have time for at all. The things eats two 3.5 1.44mb floppy disks as a word file. It's not just about my tie ups either. There are other memories in it as well.

Anyways, I am going to get on with writing this story. Hopefully it will start soon.

Jennifer

Good luck with future life and finding a real life Jennifer, and thanks for the stories. You've had some of the best stories here, and I know because I remember when you posted the first few on that old blue version of this site.

On a side note, you still use floppy disks? I thought I was bad still using those things as recently as a couple of years ago. Some people on here have probably never actually used those things before.

Hallo Kyle,
I use in the beginning 3.5 floppy disks that was for 15 years best. :)But now copy to computer and USB stick. I think jennifer nothing other. When I start it gave only 5 1/4 disks, there was then the 3.5 floppy very prospective. :D

I've been away from this board for much of the last two years, but I do come back every so often to catch up on your stories. Please accept my regrets and condolences on the loss of your parent. I lost both of mine many years ago and still miss them. That being said, life always provides new twists and we all must move on, sometimes in ways we don't want to and sometimes with avid anticipation. I note that it has been a while since you posted to your story and hope that doesn't mean another twist has thrown you off.

Be well, stay safe and don't stop writing (your thoroughness implies that your talent extends further than telling these stories.

Best Wishes...
Gerry
