Saying hello and wrapping up some loose ends.

Postby jennifer » Mon Aug 19, 2013 10:14 pm

Hello all it has been a while since I posted anything on this board. It has been so long in fact some of you might not know who I am. If so, you are welcome to disregard this post. However, I have known quite a few of you for some time and I thought I at least owed you this much.

As several of you might know, I have probably posted between 300 and 500 pages of stories between this site and Canuck's original site. The vast majority of my feedback has been positive and the majority of my stories were well liked. I recently posted a short story in the summer contest just to participate. Even though I lost it was still fun to participate and I enjoyed reading everybody's entires. Thanks to everyone who participated.

While I didn't get a whole lot of replies to the story, I did get a lot of emails asking me about where I have been the past two and a half years. The truth of the mater is that my family situation limits the amount of time I have available to write. I still put out a story once or twice a month, but I have moved onto a different forum where I post. This site has changed considerably from when I first started posting here some time ago. I still like to read this board from time to time, but it has taken on a more mature tone than it did in its beginnings.

The truth of the matter is that I pretty much covered the vast majority of the content that I had from my childhood. Well, at least the longer series or the stories that I can make sound interesting or different from what a previously posted. The other fact is that I am getting older and my memory isn't as sharp as it used to be. While I have enough journal entries to probably spawn another 400 pages or so, I have somewhat moved on.

I have moved onto sharing some of the instance that took place during my 20's and even my early 30's on another board along with some different aspects about my younger life that don't fit here on a third board. While I am sure there are many of you here who would love to read them, the content in more mature. Too mature for this board despite its recent evolution. The topic on the third board I currently post on are not relevant to this board so I am not going to post them here either. On the other board I post on, I do use my real name and the real names of my family members. However, I am not going post a link to it here because I don't want to be possibly responsible for leading a minor to something they shouldn't be reading. I am sure several of you have already found them, if not they are not all that well hidden. I just don't refer to myself as Jennifer there.

I am going to bid this board a fond farewell and move off into the sunset. Thanks to everyone who has been reading me the past few years. I will leave my stories and website up until my webhost decided to take it down from inactivity. I might still read here and drop a comment or two, but my days of posting here are done.

Jennifer

A sad farewell but good luck with your current pursuits.

I remember the first story you posted way back on the old blue version of the site. I've been here way too long. I've also noticed the board has gotten away from some of the more innocent childhood type of stories, but I won't go into that anymore.

Good luck.

Even though I haven't read a whole lot of stories on this site yet, I can tell that most of them contain a lot of uumm... intimacy, and aren't really innocent childhood stories. There's nothing wrong with that, of course, but I guess it's a fact that there's been a dearth of childhood stories lately.

I mean, I've added some funny details in my own story but that's mainly because it's impossible to remember everything perfectly. And it's also to make it a more pleasant read - to give the story some life. But some of the stories, even in the True Story section are... very exaggerated. I really hope that I'm not the only one who think this way.

Well, when you spin a yarn about a story from the past, I like to think we all embellish a little to make up for the remembered details.
After all, what sounds better when you're telling a tale?
"And then Bobby comes in..."
Or
"And about that time, Bobby comes barging in..."

Sorry to see that you are leaving us, your stories were always of a high standard, and well worth reading.

I wish you all the best for the future, and I'm sure you'll pop by here, now and again, just to see what we are up to. :)

Bye for now, and good luck xxx

I understand where you are coming from. Your efforts were always worth reading, but my one complaint would be your unfinished stories. There are several out there, usually interrupted right where I want to know more! You always tried to follow the site's rules, which many other posters ignore, to the extent that I seek out your posts and ignore most of the others.

Thanks very much for what you have written.

Wish you all the best "over there" Jennifer :) From one Veteran to another, as one might say.
I can understand your decision- yet I hope you drop by now and then and don't become a stranger. After all...Cannuck's has been for us, who are here for so long, something we have grown with...and what has grown and matured along with us.
Which, frankly, I think few people can say about even fewer websites ;)

Cheers

I loved reading your stories, even before I finally made an account here. They have always been some of the most well-written stories on the site and they will surely be missed. That being said, I wish you all the best in whatever you pursue next.

Hmmm... I'm as guilty of that as anyone I suppose. Ironically, I have a ton of true innocent childhood stories about myself that I could share. The main reason i haven't been doing so is because i figured most people would consider them... well... boring. :worried:
