I can't think of a lot he's done that's really good. He's about like I expected him to be, full of enthusiasm but way in over his head in this job. I don't think he's the evil being a lot of Republicans think he is but he just doesn't seem to have really done much of anything.

To be fair to him, the Congress we have now is about as incompetent as we've ever had in this country. I'm not sure any president could do a lot with that bunch of clowns working with them.

I personally like him. He hasn't made as much progress as some would like, but given the really bad hand he was dealt when he entered office, he's doing better than many presidents would. From what I can tell, he seems to have a certain integrity that is rare in politics as well.

As for congress, from what I hear its not that republicans now have a majority, it's just that democrats lost the super-majority they used to have.

I'm not from the US (so maybe my opinion is not valid here, i'm from the UK to be exact) but from my perspective I think he is doing well, as viper says, he has be given a bad hand. I personally think that too many people have expectations that are far too high given the current situation, people assume that his move into power would change things, but it all takes time, although this question would be good at the end of his term, then you can really evaluate what he has achieved.

At what point is it time for Obama to quit blaming every problem on Bush? He's over 1/4 of the way into his term. It's time to move forward, not look at the past. It's costing him support, as it should.

I agree with Kyle ha has been in office for more than a year & still keeps blaming Bush, he should start taking some responcibility for his actions.

Well, if you want to talk about the success and failures of a the Obama administration, you'd do well to first realize that white house elections have been staged to some extent for a good pass of time. Obama is the ati-theory to the Bush administration, and im sure once we've had our fill of obama's shortcomings, a new doppleganger will appear on the scene to mimic another anti-theory and so on.

The idea is that all presidents will fail to meet their super hyped campaign expectations, and therefore the majority of Americans will begin to cry for change, so a new character will be created to act as an agent and representative for this change.

One thing that must be remembered is that Bush screwed this country up so badly in his eight years in office that only God Himself (if He exists) could've cleaned up his mess in one term let alone in one and a half years. And Obama would have been better off with the Marx Brothers, the Three Stooges, Tenacious D, Laurel and Hardy, and those guys in Wayne's World running Congress rather than the unfunny and mutually combative bozos we have in there right now.

yes bush did mostly want to give tax breaks to the upper class and businesses so his fathers oil company could save millions. overall I think we should give Obama time and his statistics have shone through in Jonathon Alter's book The Promise (credit goes to Jack Roper for bringing it to my attention)

Btw Soul Rebel isn't that a conspiracy theory you are trying to spread about how the presidency is staged most of the time. Just an inquiry not a verbal evisceration.

In all honesty to change this country for the better permanently I do believe we need extremely radical changes to the government and a reinstatement of the separation of church and state policy because obviously the government seems to be bringing their own beliefs into their laws. Examples being the "under god" in the pledge of allegiance, swearing the president into the white house on the bible, stem cell research, legalized abortions, gays being allowed to marry. All these controversial issues are coming from a religious sector of the people who wish to impose their beliefs on everyone else.

(edit, 2nd sentence, him changed to Obama)

I think that He is not best one but is also not the worst one. Because he is better than Bush. If you compare Bush with obama So Our Share market value is high and at compare to bush so our share's are going down on words. And I think he is think more about country. When Bush is thinking more about his business more about his business.

This is all I hear..."Obama is better than Bush." It's all anyone wants to say. Is that really the only measuring stick we have? This is just more proof a lot of people simply voted for Obama because he was different than Bush and didn't really care how he was different, just that he's different. Why doesn't anyone compare Obama to better presidents? If you simply compare Obama to the worst (not that I think Bush was the worst, but a lot of people seem to) and say he's better, what have you really proven?

What has really been proven? Admittedly, nothing. But one thing you have to remember: Thanks to the two-party systrem, realistically Obama and McCain were the only games in town. And after Bush, not enough people wanted to vote for McCain. Had Bush not been quite the fuck-up he was and for one other reason I am about to mention, McCain would probably be the president now (for better or worse). But I'll tell you in two words the best reason why I am glad McCain is not the president: SARAH PALIN!!!!! If McCain had died while in office; SHE'D be the president! OMG!!!! I am not against a woman presidxent by any means - but GOD, not HER!!! Then this country would REALLY go down the toilet! Can you prove me wrong?

No Jason no one can prove you wrong, she's an idiot who writes her notes on her hand.

No I can't prove you wrong...but I can't prove you right either. We'll never know since it didn't happen. McCain hasn't died yet though. I don't think we'd be in a good position with Palin either but I can't prove it. You can't exactly prove things that didn't happen.

Obama can't read without a teleprompter either...see, the stupid cheap insults can go both ways. Palin does plenty of stupid things to go after without going after something silly. It amazes me how many people resort to that insult when it's so bizarrely stupid to go after. At least no one's brought her daughter into it yet. (By the way, I really think the Obama teleprompter comments are stupid too, just making a point here)

Jason, your post only did more to back me up than disprove anything I said. You all but agreed with me people simply voted for Obama because he "wasn't Bush" and that's all his supporters care about. Since Obama's not Bush, he already won with a lot of people.

Which only goes to show that I didn't really disagree with you in any significant way after all. After all, I never said you were wrong, did I?
BTW I was going to point out the teleprompter thing myself but you beat me to it. :gag:
Also, it's true McCain hasn't died yet; but had he undergoine the stress of being president in his condition; who knows? To say nothing of the remaining two years plus of the ongoing term in office. As you said though we never will know what would have happened - and maybe we should all be thankful for this. :big:
