LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD

(for PlueschbabyCD)

It was a sharp winter’s day and Little Red Riding Hood was taking a basket of eggs to her grandmother.

She went skippety skip, skippety skip, skippety skip through the forest until she came to a bridge over a stream.

The Troll who lived under the bridge poked up his head and said, “I know this is a folk-tale but those bloomers really won’t keep out the cold as you go skippety skip, skippety skip, skippety skip through the forest.” He explained that a pair of fleece-lined ski-trousers would be much more appropriate and that he just happened to have a pair that she could borrow. She was, of course, very concerned to preserve her modesty and simply slipped them over her traditional attire.

She was, of course, very concerned to cover her head and simply replaced the hood and cape over the top of it.

The Troll who lived under the bridge poked up his head and said, “I know this is a folk-tale but that hood won’t keep out the cold as you go skippety skip, skippety skip, skippety skip through the forest.” He explained that a fleece-lined balaclava with two eye-holes would be much more appropriate and that he just happened to have one that she could borrow. She was, of course, very concerned to retain her traditional appearance for the folk tale and simply replaced the hood and cape over the top of it.

She went skippety skip, skippety skip, skippety skip through the forest until she came to granny’s cottage.

She knocked on the door and entered. “Oh, Grandma, what big eyes you’ve got.” she said seeing the Woodcutter standing there but not, apparently, recognising him.

“What, do you think I am: the big, bad wolf?” he replied.

“Oh, Grandma, what a comfy looking shawl you have.”

“All the better to wrap you up in.” replied the Woodcutter.

“Oh, Grandma, what a lot of cosy looking scarves you have.” continued the innocent maiden.

“All the better to bind you with,” said the Woodcutter. This may be a folk tale but he wasn’t slow to catch on.

One shawl and several scarves later, they both snuggled up together.

And they both lived happily ever after.
