2017 donations

Postby zanev » Sat Nov 19, 2016 3:30 pm

It is that time of year again when we ask for donations to run our website. The goal for 2017 is $300. This keeps us set all year and anything over can go toward 2018.

As an added bonus, the first person to donate $90 or more will become a mod. Given you have over 30 posts and have been here a year or more.

Interesting:
Nearly 300 views and only one donor!
I wonder what that indicates?

Is there a way that Europeans without PayPal or a creditcard can make a donation? What I mean to say is that I'd need to have an IBAN number that I can transfer my donation to.

Somehow I don't think that is a very attractive prospect. You get to donate $90 and to deal with nasty spammers on the board. :quirk:

Probably an IBAN number and the name and address of the payee's bank from recent experience.

Is this funding still needed?

I suggest checking out the page.
You will see what Zanev has in mind.
I also think the answer is, "Yes".

One of the problems, is lack of anonymity, If one donates to the "GoFundMe" page through PayPal, it can be traced Find a way that is totally anonymous, and response might be greater.

In my youth: police surveilance for "suspect" activities
In my late 30's: phone tapped due to consorting with communists.
In my 40's: under surveilance by GCHQ due (surprisingly) to my friendship with a fairly senior memeber of the security forces. (To my eternal shame I passsed my positive vetting.)
With what "They" know about me already, why the hell should I be concerned that anyone knows that I have subscribed to a perfectly legal site?

Drawscore is correct that PayPal can be traced. If Zanev could lease a mailbox to which I could respond to a simple mailbox number -- no name revealed -- I would gladly send a hundred dollar bill to help with expenses.

The problem I have is amount of new stories doesn't justify it

I would have agreed last year but things seem to be looking up lately.
At the risk of starting a backlash, have you read all the stuff in the archives that interests you?

Tell you what: pay up and I'll post another longer story. (OK, probably not a good offer)

One of the problems, is that someone (or several someones) will put a lot of time and effort into writing an entertaining story, which will then get several hundred "looks," and maybe one or two notes of feedback.

It's kind of hard to put up that kind of effort, when few, if any, even care enough to say "it sucked,"

Other considerations, are that feedback won't come from those that are not interested in the theme. People that like MM, will skip over FF stories.

But if you are looking for stories, there are enough to keep you reading for a week or two, at http://tugstories.tieupgames.net/storyindex.htm

I have read through the archives. And the majority of the stories are good. I don't read the fictional ones because if it didn't happen, it doesn't interest me.

Tie up games happen so much in real life, I wonder why this site is so sparten.

Don't want to come off as an ass here, but if you look at your own posts, you'll find the answer to your own question.

You've been here several months without posting any material or posting even a single story review.
Writers stop posting and migrate to other story-hosting sites when people read but don't bother posting even short comments.

The other thing to consider...
Most meetup sites are loaded with people who mingle sex and tugs together (Fetlife/Grindr/Recon...etc).
A lot of guys and girls on fetish hookup sites are not interested in simple "innocent" tugs.
This forum attracts a lot of "purist" tuggers who are not interested in anything remotely sexual. They feel at home here.
So instead of a site where users are posting stories, reading and reviewing them, we have a site were more and more users don't care about stories and are trying to hookup with one another.

Your account is a perfect example of that.

Don't get me wrong. This is not a criticism, only a cold set of facts pointing to the declining number of stories.
I just used you as an example to answer your own question.

Im here several months and read through the stories that interested me. But the threads are cold, even by the author. Why write a review? If the site was more happening, I'd surely give input. But after a year plus, and not even a post from the author, he'll never see it.

Also, some of the stories that sound cool are deleted. Your own three guy story for instance.

I've been around this place for a long...long time. I even posted some crappy stories when it was a word length limited dreambook page. It has outlasted many other boards and always been a place to find stories from amazing quality to amazing word salad.

I contribute stories because I seriously suck at commenting on other's work. And since this place has been around so long with only a handful of places managing similar longevity, I have tossed a few coins into the tip jar. My stories have gotten better and better as far as quality, they likely would not have if this place had ceased to be.

So forget about it, and contribute. If you can't write, then comment, if you can't comment or write, toss a fiver in.

My work isn't for everyone, but I guarantee one thing, I won't finish it if the host can't keep the lights on.

Just my thoughts,

All the best.

Dear Volatiledesire:

As I have noted in another thread, your stories are one of the main reasons that pushed me into signing up for the forum.

I would gladly donate for the maintenance of this site. By paypal or by a asecure, anonymous way.

Just curious, how much does it cost per year to host this site? I keep seeing it go down most likely due to lack of funds for hosting.

I'm in the same boat as you are Scottstud94. Once I get a job and a steady income with a good working budget than I will begin to give back to the many sites/ places that I enjoy.
