Joel Tenenbaum

Joel Tenenbaum lives in the USA, and he has downloaded 30 songs. And now he has to pay a fine of 675 000$, because the downloads were a copyright violation. :?:
What the hell is wrong?
22 500$ for one song is sick.
If it's forbidden in the USA, I don't know, but then everyone would say that a fine is OK, but not in that completely over the top sized amount.
If you are also think that's bullshit, then show support and download those songs too. You won't find a other way to get 675 000$ that easy.

And there are many more people who got even a higher fine than him.

I think those fines are just stupid.
If I would live in the USA and they would find my harddisk, I could probably pay with my fine the whole state debt of the USA back. :big:

I think pirates are just thieves and shouldn't pretend otherwise. If found out they must be punished but only in proportion to their crime. This however is just insane! i honestly can't describe this fine as anything other then corrupt to the core. This news makes me fear what will happen when SOPA starts showing up on the political scene again.

I don't think the big corperations are behind anything wrong in the world but this does seem like them bribing the legal system for a quick profit.

This fine is an attempt to make an example of this guy for other people. They want everyone to be afraid of them. I think he should be fined, but that is beyond ridiculous.

Did you mean 'anything', or did you mean 'EVERYthing'?
Corporations are indeed behind SOME wrong things... just not ALL of them!

Oh. Okay. Not here. In American English using the word 'anything' as you did implied the corporations weren't at fault at all for the world's problems, and I think even Drawscore would never go so far as to say that (unless he simply wanted to start an argument) after the Wall Street mess, all the financial bailouts, and so forth. The problems with the Euro too, I imagine. :geek:
