Saturday Morning

This wasn’t our first TUG, but it was one of our early games, taking place some 9 years ago – I was 14 and Paul was 8.

On a very mild Saturday morning, Paul emerged from the bathroom and walked across the landing to his bedroom. A few minutes later, he had just finished changing his blue PJs for a black-striped white Adidas t-shirt and white-striped black Adidas shorts when I came out of my bedroom.
This might sound a bit “cheesey his and hers” (even though we’re brother and sister and not a couple), but I was wearing a blue-striped white Adidas tee-shirt, not tucked into white-striped blue Adidas tracksuit trousers, and white-striped blue sports sandals.
“Fancy a tie up?” I asked cheerfully.
“Yes, please!” Paul replied eagerly.
“Get your gear out!” I requested, following my brother into his room.
Paul knelt down on the floor and produced a black gym bag from under his bed. He dropped the bag on his bed, and sat down in the straight-back wood chair at his desk with grateful anticipation.
Opening the bag, I produced two lengths of rope each about one and a half metres long.
“I’ve got homework to do, so I’ll only be next door if you need anything.” I announced, as I knelt down on the floor and tie Paul’s ankles very tightly to the chair legs.
“Thank you!” Paul replied.
Standing up, I picked the other rope up and tied Paul’s wrists very tightly to the hair arms.
“That OK?” I asked, admiring my helpless captive when I’d finished. “Nothing too tight or hurting?”
“Just great!” Paul replied gratefully.
I switched Paul’s portable TV on and made sure he was facing it.
“Call out if you need anything!” I exclaimed cheerfully, heading for the door.
“I will!” Paul replied happily.
My bedroom is next door to Paul’s. I left both his and my doors open so I could hear him. Safety should be important in ANY TUG, but we take it very seriously because Paul is asthmatic.
I sat down at my desk, switched my computer on and opened some school books and started my homework. I could hear Paul laughing and cheering the programmes he was watching so I knew he was safe and happy.

I’d probably been working for about ninety minutes or so when I needed to go to the bathroom. Emerging from the bathroom, I went downstairs and fetched two glasses of coke and brought them upstairs on a tray.
“Drink?” I asked, placing the tray on Paul’s desk.
“Please!” Paul replied gratefully.
Even at that young age, I had the foresight to put straws in both glasses. Admittedly without asking, I sat on Paul’s knee and drank from one glass myself whilst holding the other up to Paul for him to drink. We chatted as we drank, with the TV on in the background.
Putting the glasses back on the tray, I got up and went back into my room to resume my homework.

I hadn’t been timing, but I would say about two hours passed and I got a lot of homework done.
“Time to untie you!” I exclaimed cheerfully, as I went into Paul’s room.
I untied Paul’s wrists, and he rubbed them gently as I untied his ankles.
Picking the tray up, I went downstairs to make lunch, and Paul followed me via the bathroom.
