Ever wish you were "normal"?

Postby donatello » Fri May 02, 2014 9:16 pm

Hey everyone,

This is a bit of a serious question, and I don't mean to go all emo on you or anything, but have any of you ever wished you weren't into TUGs? I mean, have you ever wished you were "normal" in the sense that you didn't have this strange yet alarmingly strong attraction to something that society doesn't smile upon? I mean, I have spent a good portion of my life craving something that I couldn't have - either because I felt it was wrong (I've more or less gotten beyond that one) or because no one else I knew shared it and I was petrified of asking anyone. And I suspect I'm not the only TUG crazed person to have experienced this.

So, to repeat my question, have any of you wished you were "normal"?

(Notice how I used quotation marks around the word "normal"; it's not like I'm calling any of you weirdos weird or anything...)

:P

Again, I apologize for the emo, but I'm curious to know...

If I was, I would not have as much fun.
But, I always believed:
As long as no one is hurt, do as you please.
I see no harm in engaging in tugs no matter what society says.
You will have to subdue me to restrain me. I been a bad boy so make sure you torture me too with anything but pain.

I think that considering there is a fetish for *almost" anything these days, in the grand scheme of things being into TUGs is certainly more towards what you might call the "normal" end of the scale. Just as some people like to be tied up, other people like being lead around on all 4's and eating out of a dog bowl, or electrocuted. The list goes on and on.

You have absolutely no idea what other people are into, just as it is probable that most, if not all people in your life, do not know what you are into. Therefore because you don't know, you assume they are purely interested in things that are deemed "socially acceptable" or non-taboo, and that you are weird, and they are "normal". None of that is true.

I suspect things would get a lot more interesting if we really did know what people were "into". Then nobody would be "normal" at all, whatever that consists of anyway.

No. Wondered what it would be like if I weren't into it or if I was into something else. Never really wished I wasn't as I don't see it as fundamentally wrong.

But then it depends how far you take it.

People are so different these days, I'd struggle to define normality anyway.

I have a friend who has a good job, watches the football, works the 9 to 5 and every now and again spends a fortune on cocaine and strippers. Not that you would know from talking to them.
There's always time for a nice cup of tea.

OK Don..., forgive me, but this predates Ninja Turtles by a few (thousand) years. In Plato's Allegory of the Cave, all the residents saw only the shadows moving across the wall from the light behind them outside the cave. So they all thought they were " Normal" until one of them actually peeked outside and knew the truth. Who there was "Normal"?
People don't like what they don't understand. It is not a homeostatic position so to get that way they drop it in the box marked "HATE." and call it good.In college psychology they warn new students not to psychoanalyze everyone they later meet. You see, they find out, as did Freud and Jung, NOBODY IS COMPLETELY NORMAL. Our big advantage is as Plato's teacher observed we have taken the step to "Know Thyself." (Socrates)

You make the assumption that TUG's are a sexual turn on, and while that might be true for some of us, it is not true for all of us.

As a boy, my friends and I played TUG's frequently. We ranged from as young as 9, up to 16. The younger kids (9-12) had no idea of sex, other than what they learned from each other, and that wasn't always accurate. As we hit puberty and became more sexually aware, TUG's were still not a factor (or at least, if they were, it was never obvious), although the older kids' attraction to the opposite sex, led them to play less and less frequently. Big Kevin and his best friend, Wayne (16-15) played occasionally, but they had the "hots" for a couple of 15 year old twins, Allison and Andrea, and given the choice of being team captains for a game like Team Chase, or going to the Sweet Shop with the twins, the twins would win every time.

All the time. You don't understand how many times I've been blocked by people or called a freak/creep for asking if they wanna be tied up. And sometimes I feel like a freak myself
wait what should my signature be?

Normal is a relative term in the first place, and given what 'normal' people have done in the past, I can use that as a reference if I get accused of not being normal.

Re: Ever wish you were "normal"?

Postby Tieup1 » Sun May 04, 2014 7:47 am

What is normal, everybody is different, we all have our fantasises, fetishes, and pecadillos.

Because I like tugs, does imo, not make me feel not normal.

Its just one part of my life, I'm not obssessed with it.

Perhaps its just the way the media portray people who are into ''bondage'' as sickos and weirdos.

It has always been a taboo subject, which has been mocked in certain quarters, this is due to ignorance and fear of something different.

There are a lot worse things going on in this World, than me playing tugs.

Nothing to do with being "normal" but I definitely wished I wasn't me to the point suicide was considered.

Re: Ever wish you were "normal"?

There's no such thing as "normal".

Normal is only what is defined by society and even then it's standards tend to be looser when it concerns one's self.

I do not wish I was normal cause if I was the world would be alot more boring and I'd frankly would go crazy.

I'm new to the board, but I've been lurking for a while now, and I wanted to throw my two cents into the conversation.

Normal, as defined by society is flawed. No one is 'normal'. Though I do understanding sometimes wishing I wasn't turned on by being tied up or tying someone else up? Absolutely. Do I sometimes wish I wasn't more turned on by two guys having sex when I'm a woman than the idea of having sex myself? Absolutely. Do I sometimes wish I was a guy so I could experience what they experience? Absolutely. But I am who I am and in the long run I don't want to change.

This is my normal. It's society that's abnormal. :D

Wow, everybody. I had no idea I would get such an enthusiastic response. Though I suppose now I should have known better :P Thanks, everyone, for your responses - I read and appreciated each one. I definitely agree that everyone is a little odd and I shouldn't feel "weird" but rather one step ahead of the game perhaps, because I know how I'm weird, whereas lots of other people haven't come to terms with their personal brand of "weird" yet.

My only concern is wondering to what extent my fetish with TUGs has shaped my sexuality, and what potential repercussions that has had and might still have future relationships. To quote a response from earlier:

"As we hit puberty and became more sexually aware, TUG's were still not a factor (or at least, if they were, it was never obvious), although the older kids' attraction to the opposite sex, led them to play less and less frequently."

I can't say I've experienced a decrease in my interest in TUGs due to an increased attraction to the opposite sex. If anything, my TUGs interest has remained steady (and strong) and my interest in the opposite gender has never really materialized. I don't feel any interest in the same sex either. Just a commentary perhaps on how malleable sexuality and sexual orientation/interest can be.

I certainly don't mean to be a Debbie Downer; just thought I'd add my two cents since so many of you generously offered yours.

I've never particularly wished I wasn't into TUGs, no. However, I have wished I wasn't even more into being sat on than I am into being tied up. Tie ups are at least a reasonably common thing; little kids often play at it. A strong desire for being sat on on the other hand convinced me from as far back as i can remember that i was some kind of freak for the longest time, as - until I spent a lot of time with my cousins - I thought I was completely unique in this regard.
But, really, i'm so not normal in so many ways - and normal is such an arbitrary term when it comes to human beings anyway - that it's long ceased to bother me. I have found that the only people worth being concerned about are the ones who accept me just as I am anyway.

I used to feel really bad about being weird. Now I just wish I wasn't so obsessed with being weird. Things would've been a lot different if I was more constructive with this stuff.

I agree to the "what's normal anyway" stance.
Besides, no one is really hurt in TUGs (sexual and/or non sexual) and it isnt that hard to find a partner for it. Plus, it makes me happy to do it.
So, a clear "no" to your question.

Cheers

No. I decided long ago that if it's not violating someone else's rights, it's nobody's business but the people involved. If someone has a problem with my wanting to be tied up, or tying up a willing partner - well, that's their problem, not mine. The moral compass of "society" is not necessarily reliable. As Exhibit A I offer the nonconsensual tie-up non-games euphemistically referred to by the US government as "enhanced interrogation techniques".

I felt like that too Karl, You're my age and while I haven't yet experienced what comes with liking those of the same gender I'm proud of who I am. I like guys and I can't help that part of myself and going anywhere else like Sadi Arabia or any Arabic country would classify me for a death warrant on the spot or Uganda where it's a crime to be gay.

But to be unture to myself is to live a lie, I'd rather people know the REAL me than some mask and facade of who I have to be. Society is changing in that regard that people like you and me can come out in the US and not be ashamed of it. I was raised to never be ashamed of who you are for it's that nature that makes life so wonderful.

sometimes i do wish i was "normal", its one less thing to hide, and when you think about it, although we all find it fun, if we weren't interested in it, we wouldn't think we were missing out on anything fun. we would just continue with our lives normally. but theres nothing we can do really to change it. i think its possible to stop doing tugs at all even if you're into it, but that would not be nice since you'd always be urging to do it, where as a "normal" person doesn't. thats the difference between a normal person and us trying to stop it. so better to just enjoy it tbh.

Definitely not, bondage is so much fun and I get a rich of excitement and being so close to my master (literally tied to him once) has strengthened our relationship so much, more than if you had ordinary foreplay and sex. I am also a massive cuddler and I like petplay bondage where I normally fall asleep in his arms.

Even if I wasn't into bondage I still wouldn't be normal I'm an nerd (yes) 'emo' (no) freak, at least bondage gets me out if the house.
