Can bondage play reduce anxiety?

Postby truly_trussed » Thu May 18, 2017 5:53 am

This article from New York Magazine is over 2 years old. Wonder how I missed this.

It's about meditative bondage and how it can be very relaxing. It must be the adrenaline and endorphin rush.

Who knows? Maybe someday we can head to a yoga studio and get tied up.

Play safe, T.T. cheers

Right you are Jase. How many times did you nod off and fall asleep in your bonds, especially chairties?

You certainly look calm and relaxed in your avatar.

Play safe. T.T. :bound: zzzzz

Same for me!
there's something behind to be bound and gagged that can release the anxieties. I feel too many times the need to SCREAM, but I can't! I can't for a lot of reason but maybe... bound and well gagged you can doo everything because you are "blocked" right? It seems a contradiction but this sensation to feel free and tied too it's nice and make me feel better! ehm... a bit excited too *blush* :P
Love bound and gagged girls, feet, socks and more :tied: :gag:

I've been to multiple sex therapists and the prognosis has been that, not only do I love bondage, that it is a necessity for my well being. So, yes. Bondage can absolutely have a positive effect on your stress levels and anxiety.

It's never worked for me, and I'm pretty much high and a pro with.. anxiety! ;)
But maybe I did it wrong.. I need an instructor probably? No student can pass, without teacher, no painting, without artist, figure the rest..
So... gulible!

I find some ties can be very tranquil, especially those that prioritize comfort over tightness. Sleep sacks, for example, are great because nothing is too tight, but there is still no way out. And when you know there's no chance to escape, the only left to do is relax. Forced relaxation, if that makes sense! :p

A sleeping sack, that does makes some sense. Though with the current weather? I'd rather not get into one

I have always found the sensation of being immobile, silenced and maybe blindfolded very calming. I find it exciting at the same time too, if that makes sense?

I work in a job where I manage a lot of people, so I have to appear "in control" and communicate clearly. Being tied and gagged especially if I'm blindfolded too helps me block out everything.

I find the feeling of being under someone else's control, very calming. I love the heightened sensation from having my movement, speech and vision restricted. Not being able to speak and influence my captor is particularly disempowering, I can't even negotiate!

I love the psychological intensity it produces, I can focus on the feeling of ropes or ligatures, or my measured breathing in the gag. I "switch off" thinking about stressors and often drift in and out of consciousness.

I've since done mindfulness classes and this is similar in both technique (focus on body) and effect (though I find bondage more intense).
