SMOKE GETS IN YOUR LIES

(Written at the request of Chris12)

“Whhhoooooaaah! Mum is ‘gonna whup your ass good, boy’”, said Colin, slipping into the American vernacular as his grin spread wider than the Joker’s make-up. Connor and his mates should have taken more care really but now it was too late. Or was it?

Colin had heard the disturbance in the attic and thought he’d better check it out. He climbed so quietly up the ladder that neither his brother nor the other two heard him coming. Colin thought all his birthdays and Christmases had come at once with a visit from the Tooth Fairy thrown in. He’d always wanted good blackmail material to hold over his annoying little brother and now he had it.

Before they could even remove the fags from their mouths, let alone stamp them out, Colin had whipped out his mobile and taken the incriminating photos.

“OK, you two, piss off. I need a word with the Microbe here.”

The two brothers didn’t look much alike, other than the red hair; Connor was almost a mini-replica of their mother, slightly built with neatly coiffed spiky hair and braces whereas Colin, although not tall for a sixteen year old, was muscular. He was also the archetypical ginger with the freckles and that strange green tinge to his flesh when he wrinkled his nose. Surprisingly for someone who wanted to join the Marines, he always looked scruffy.

Colin completed climbing the ladder as Connor’s two fellow smokers stood up ready to depart as soon as Colin cleared the ladder.

“Hey, don’t go. Between the three of us we should be able to take that bastard down.”

Now, there are many things Connor could have called his brother with impunity but THAT wasn’t one of them. Colin saw red and lost it. If he’d kept his cool, he probably wouldn’t be in the state in which he was soon to find himself. Before Colin could get his footing properly, Connor rugby-tackled him to the floor beside the trap-door. He didn’t seem to care that Colin knocked his head on the water tank as he went down. Even though it was lagged and made of plastic, the impact was enough to disorient the stronger boy for long enough to enable Andy to straddle his chest, pinning his arms and for Connor to re-position himself astride his brother’s legs.

“Tony, use you belt. Wrap it a couple of times round his ankles and tighten it as much as you can.” Connor’s older and larger friend didn’t need telling twice. He was fed up with Colin lording it over the younger kids. Colin still had not really reacted, being somewhat dazed while Connor, still straddling his torso and trapping his arms, slipped his own belt from his jeans and handed it to Tony with instructions to pinion the older boy’s arms. It was a good job that the skinny kid had one of those silly belts that were long enough to hang down in the front or Tony wouldn’t have been able to slide it forcibly under Colin’s shoulders and move it down until it was in line with the bottom of his chest while Connor carefully moved down his torso taking sure to keep his brother’s arms trapped by his legs and hands.

It was touch and go but after a few seconds, Tony had managed to thread the end of the thick leather belt though the “American Eagle” buckle and to pull it so tight that it dug uncomfortably into Colin’s biceps.

“Tony, you’re bigger than me. Can you take over here?” By now Colin had recovered to a considerable extent and started bucking violently whilst threatening dreadful vengeance but, with the determination that only the oppressed can display when they have their tormentor at their mercy at last, the three younger boys took absolutely no notice and carried on securing their prisoner. Tony sat on Colin’s chest while Connor dismounted and went round to his brother’s feet. “See if you can hold him still, Andy, I want his trainers.”

By now Andy was having some difficulty doing what he was asked to but, with Connor in place as well, Colin was soon shoeless and, not long afterwards, completely bare-footed. Connor made himself as comfortable as possible in the circumstances as he unthreaded the long, rainbow laces form his brother’s trainers.

“Oh look,” exclaimed Tony, “he’s got one of those ‘squaddie’ belts on. Reckon we could use it?”

“Could you deal with it without taking your weight off him?”

“I’ll try.” Throughout this process Colin’s language deteriorated from the disgusting to the anatomically impossible but the three smokers didn’t seem to be taking any notice at all. Let’s face it, Connor’s and Colin’s mum and Rob weren’t due home for hours. That’s what made the attic of their large, detached house so useful as a smoking den. Both Rob and their mother smoked so they never noticed the smell but that didn’t stop them forbidding their boys from smoking. And Rob was a big guy with a temper, even Colin stood no chance against him.

As Andy re-positioned himself on Colin’s chest, Tony unhooked the webbing belt and un-threaded each end from one belt loop on Colin’s jeans. It was almost easy to secure Colin’s forearms by re-fastening it around them. Connor knew those laces would come I handy but he only now realised how. As with all such webbing belts, this one was adjusted using hooks and a double row of holes that were reinforced with metal eyelets. It took a while but Colin’s forearms were not only secured to his body but, with the shoe laces threaded onto the belt and passed a few times between them and his hips, he was completely unable to move them, even to lift them free from the belt.

Colin was now to all intents helpless especially with the three younger boys on board. They made themselves comfortable and ignored the horrible threats that were issuing in torrents form the larger ginger. “Whose flash is it?” asked Connor.

“Oh sorry, mine.” So saying, Tony offered his cigarette packet around and the three smokers lit up. While they polluted the atmosphere, Colin reminded them of the dreadful fate that awaited Connor when he told their mum about what he’d found out.

“Yes, I’ve been thinking about that. Here’s the way I see it. What’s that, what’s her name, Melissa, you know, the one you fancy, going to make of the situation? You’ve been bigging yourself up to her; telling her how big and tough you are. What do you suppose she’ll think when she sees her big, tough Colin pwned by little weedy Connor?”

Colin fell silent.

“Yes, I’ll just slip off you and take one or two photos. - - Yes - - Good - - Hold it - - Try to keep out of shot, mate. - - Thanks - - That’s good. Yes, there’s a couple of good ones there. Look at this one. Pathetic, isn’t it? Have you noticed that Andy and Tony aren’t in it? - - Or this one. - - Oh, look, lads, this is a good one.”

“You evil, lying little shit! You’re still dead when I tell Mum.”

“What makes you think Mum and Rob will believe you?”

“Why shouldn’t they, I’ve still got that photo?” That probably wasn’t the wisest thing Colin had ever said.

“I’ve just had an idea about that too. Help me sit him up, boys.” Andy and Tony unseated themselves and propped Colin against the gable wall. Being experienced smokers, they were quite adept at doing things without dislodging the cancer-sticks from their mouths.

“Here, hold this.” Connor held his half smoked cigarette up to Colin’s mouth. There was no way Colin was going to take it. Not only did he not smoke, he hated smoking; he was fed up with living in a house that smelt like the inside of an ashtray. He turned his head away. “Right, I’ll just send this picture and a little text to Melissa, then.”

“Wait, if I take it, do you promise not to send the photo?”

“I might.”

“No! Promise.”

“So, do you want to take the chance? ‘Cause if you don’t take the fag, you’ve got no chance at all.” Connor’s right thumb hovered menacingly over his phone while he grinned in his big brother’s face and held the smoking coffin nail to his mouth.

Colin took the cigarette reluctantly and Connor took some carefully composed photographs. There was no sign of his mates and no indication that the scruffy kid was tied up. “That’s a good one. I reckon Rob will believe me now. What do you think?” He held his phone for his brother to see the photo.

“I still think he’ll believe me. I’ve always told him what I think of smoking.”

“I’ll tell him that’s just a cover.”

“He’ll smell it on you.”

“Yes, that’s a problem. Let me think about that. In the mean time, here’s your phone. Delete that picture.” Colin knew he had no choice and, with some difficulty with his arms fastened as they were, deleted the incriminating photograph of his brother and his mates.

The three friends re-instated their sofa. Colin was laid against the wall and the three smokers took their seats to consider the matter. It was what Sherlock Holmes would have described as a three-pipe problem. The atmosphere became even smokier.

A plan gradually formed. As it did so, the plotters’ ruminations were not being assisted by Colin’s frequent interruptions so Connor decided to do something about it. He got the once-white sports socks that he’d stripped from his brother’s feet and rolled them into a bundle. Telling the other two to keep their guest comfortable, he got up and went over to Rob’s tool box. He knew there was something he wanted in there.

“Open wide.”

“Get stuffed.” Even when said through gritted teeth, that is easy enough to understand.

“Well, I’m sorry, you had your chance. Now I think that’s Melissa’s phone number?”

Defeat piled upon defeat and Colin opened his mouth only to have his own sweaty socks stuffed in. “If you try pushing them out, all I need to do his press this little button here and . . . Tony, Use this. Use lots!”

Connor threw Tony the gorilla tape he had recently acquired and took his place on the “sofa” again. Tony got up and wrapped it generously around Connor’s head. After he’d resumed his seat, the plotters were in no hurry to formulate their plans and, as far as they could see, they were soon watertight.

The brothers knew that either Rob or their mum would ring from Lineham Services to tell them to get the kettle on. They always did it. That would give the smoking club a good twenty-five minutes to complete arrangements. The phone call came, Connor answered while Andy clamped his hands over Colin’s gagged mouth. It was time to recap for Colin’s “benefit”.

“Right, listen up, soldier boy. I’ve got lots of blackmail photos and it’s just a question of whether Rob will believe me or not. You KNOW Mum will! You’ve spent the afternoon in a nice, fuggy fag-smokey room. You stink.

“Nghhh oo oo.”

“Yes, but in a few minutes I’m going for a shower. I’ll smell as sweet as a daisy when I welcome mummy like a dutiful younger son. Now. It would only be my duty to tell my lovely mummy that her eldest son smoked, don’t you think?”

“Naaa’uu!”

“Now now, that’s enough of that sort of language.”

“My friends here will keep you company until we hear the car arriving and then they’ll untie your wrists and ankles and sneak out the back way while I go to greet our parents. You’ll probably be able to slip your wrists out of your belt and unstrap your ankles. Try not to make too much noise when you rip the gorilla tape out of your hair.”

* “Fkii’ee ‘i’uw ‘unn’!” *

“Yes, I know I’m a thoughtful little brother but listen to this. By the time you’re free, I will have greeted Mum and Rob. IF I tell them you’ve been smoking, you’ll know because Rob will throw a real wobbler. You’ll hear him from up here. You MIGHT just have time to get downstairs in time to save a REAL battering but, Christ, you’ll smell dreadful. You won’t even get a chance to say anything.”

Colin knew that what his “Lovely Little Brother” said was true and, even if he did get the chance to convince his parents of the injustice later, it would be too late and he’d already have suffered a beating and a long grounding during which they would not be prepared to listen to anything.

“On the other hand, if you stay quietly up here, I’ll tell them that you’re doing your homework. - - Or shall I tell them just out of spite? Even if they did find out the truth and punish me, I’ve still got those photos. Look after my brother for me, you two.” Then Connor departed to take his shower.

As soon as the sound of a car was heard, Connor called upstairs, “OK, let him go.” Andy and Tony went into action. Connor’s parting shot before he ran to meet his parents, was to shout upstairs, “What was it you said? Errrm? I think it was something like, ‘Whhhoooooaaah! Mum is ‘gonna whup your ass good, boy.’”

* I apologise for the strong language but without it the story would have been most unrealistic. *

Interesting concept. I really feel bad for Colin, though.

Loved this story!

Very cunning little brother how he managed to turn the tides on him and make it look like Colin was the one who was smoking!

Also props on the sock and tape gag! So hot!

I disapprove of smoking. My grandma died last winter of lung cancer. Those brats must get what's coming to them. I'd prefer if they all quit by the end.

I do too but it's a one-shot story but you MIGHT get xtc to continue at later date!
