I'm going to be clear hear because I think that intro just scared half the readers off

For now I'l just introduce the cast of characters and judge whether or not the reaction to it speaks of enough interest for me to continue.
The Gauls: The main heroes of the story will be the Gaelic Lutair clan and their retainers.
Alan: The nineteen year old son of the clan's chieftain. Alan is a tall, broad shouldered blonde with the muscles befitting a warrior. Everyone knows he will one day lead the whole clan and thus he serves as the leader of a new generation of warriors. A true warrior through and through he wants to protect his home in battle.
As chief's son Alan can afford to enter battle with the best armor available. Under his green coat is a fully metal chainmail, his head is protected by a helmet of solid steel and his shield is made of steel as well. His combat weapon is the sword.
Cael: The middle brother of the chief's children. Cael is not a warrior and the opposite of his brother Alan in many ways. Where Alan is strong Cael is thin and shorter then most fifteen year old's. The only thing the brothers have in common is their blonde hair which comes to Cael's shoulders. Not truly fit for battle Cael acts like the clan's logical minded strategist and as such is an advocate for allying themselves with the Romans and reaping the rewards.
These things made Cael somewhat of the unfavorite child in the Chiefs eyes. Part of the reason for Alan's fully steel armor is because the ''weaklings'' equipment came on the cheap. The only metal equipment Cael has is his helmet. Otherwise his battle attire consist of a cape and some pants. He does not wear much of a shirt. He wields a bow in battle.
Carlin: The youngest son at 13 years of age. Unlike Cael Carlin is more like his oldest brother. A good amount of warrior training made him tall and muscled(more so then Cael in fact), and like Alan he is more of a straight up warrior. Carlin is a nice boy and tries to keep the peace between his older brothers.
Strong, simple and warrior minded Carlin is the replacement heir Cael failed to be. If Alan fell the clan would go to Carlin. As such he is better equipped. He wears a chainmail as well but one which only covers his sides. The rest of his body is guarded by leather and fur
Drystan: A cousin of the Lutairs and at the age of twenty already an fully fledged warrior. He is a bit larger then Alan and has brown hairs. He is also able to afford a chainmail and wields and axe.
Ewan and Ewen: These 14 year old red haired, freckled tricksters serve as scouts and in some case an ambush duo to wandering Romans. Their cheeky smiles never seem to fade even at in the thick of war. They are commoners and thus unable to afford much armor. Instead they wear regular clothing. Not able to afford swords either they wield knives.
Finian: Cael's best friend. They may have bonded over how similar unwarrior-like they are. The friends share the same age and build but while Cael is just scrawny Finian is downright girly. His long blonde hairs are even longer then his friend and he has a very feminine face.
Finian is not a warrior but a druid and is actually forbidden to fight. Circumstances my force his hand however.
Glen: A 16 year old warrior. Strong and reliable. Glen is a brown haired boy from the local fishing village and as such knows a thing about sailing. He has an armor of fur and leather and wields a sword.
Kylan and Regan: Two cousin's and both grandchildren from a famous warrior. For their skills they were awarded chainmails for battle. The two share a strong build. Kylan has brown hair in a ponytail and Regan has black hairs. With their spears and shields they usually serves as guards for the chiefs children.
Romans:
Marcus Crassus: The 19 year old son of the richest man of Rome who's one of Julius Caesar's closest associates. That is how Marcus is here and how he got the rank of legate. Crassus senior is a man feared by all, a fervent slave dealer, backer of armed thugs and the suspected mastermind of many shadowy conspiracies. This fear is directed to Marcus as well but without merit. Marcus us a friendly young man who wishes to make peace with his fathers enemies, most notably fellow legionnaire Sextus. He is also much more capable then his rise through nepotism would suggest.
To show off his fathers wealth his Roman armor is decorated with gold and pearls.
Sextus Pompeus: The son of Rome's greatest war hero who is also a close associate of Caesar. At 14 Sextus is a bit on the young side but everyone in the army can already see that one day he will become a general to be feared. Legionnaire training had done Sextus well as it gave him a good strong build. His face was still a bit boyish though and his long black hairs gave him a more gentle look then his good build would normally have given him. Sextus wasn't in the war for his personal power however, his true contribution lay in his tactical ideas.
His fathers reputation made him a bit haughty but Sextus is a good lad and more humane than most Romans or Gauls. He is wary of both Caesar and Marcus who's father is a fierce rival of his own.
Unlike most Romans the clothing under his armor is dark blue rather than red.
Thebecus: Sextus slave and a gladiator. Years of fighting in the arenas made Thebecus appear older then he actually is. The muscular body would imply an adult but underneath the helmet is something of a baby face. Thebecus is only 15, just a year older than his charge Sextus who he is devoted to.
Thebecus wields the typical gladiator army...not much at all. He has a helmet to fully cover his face, a shoulder plate and some pants. In battle he wields a trident and an iron net.
Cormag: The son of a clan leader who sided with the romans. The Chief in question is a rival of the Lutair chief and he himself is one of Alan. Cormag is blonde and tanned without a particular strong or weak build. Like Alan he is fully armored and in battle he dual wields two axes.
Porcius: The son of Rome's sternest senator and Caesar's greatest political foe. Porcius...or rather Porcia, the daughter not the son is actually in the legion to assassinate Caesar for her father. Despite that mission she is a nice girl, affectionate to her fellow soldiers and a bit of a geek when it comes to clasic tales. She hides her feminine looks with a helmet and with some acting lessons she forces her voice to have a more boyish pitch.
