How many fathers would write such a letter if your son is a rapist?

Dan Turner wrote than his son can't cook or eat rib eye anymore, and doesn't deserve jail for "20 minutes of action"

“As it stands now, Brock’s life has been deeply altered forever by the events of Jan 17th and 18th. He will never be his happy go lucky self with that easy going personality and welcoming smile. His every waking minute is consumed with worry, anxiety, fear, and depression. You can see this in his face, the way he walks, his weakened voice, his lack of appetite. Brock always enjoyed certain types of food and is a very good cook himself. I was always excited to buy him a big ribeye steak to grill or to get his favorite snack for him. I had to make sure to hide some of my favorite pretzels or chips because I knew they wouldn’t be around long after Brock walked in from a long swim practice. Now he barely consumes any food and eats only to exist. These verdicts have broken and shattered him and our family in so many ways. His life will never be the one that he dreamed about and worked so hard to achieve. That is a steep price to pay for 20 minutes of action out of his 20 plus years of life. The fact that he now has to register as a sexual offender for the rest of his life forever alters where he can live, visit, work and how he will be able to interact with people and organizations. What I know as his father is that incarceration is not the appropriate punishment for Brock. He has no prior criminal history and has never been violent to anyone including his actions on the night of Jan. 17th 2015. Brock can do so many positive things as a contributor to society and it’s totally committed to educating other college age students about the dangers of alcohol, consumption and sexual promiscuity. By having people like Brock educate others on college campuses is how society can begin to break the cycle of binge drinking and its unfortunate results. Probation is the best answer for Brock in tis situation and allows him to give back to society in a net positive way.

Very respectfully,

Dan A. Turner

Ain't this sweet? Rape someone and your dad says its "20 minutes of action" and worries you can't eat steak.

It's especially ironic considering that the judge gave the rapist son such a light sentence as it was that now a lot of people are demanding his resignation And I agree with them, as i thought such a light sentence was ludicrous even before i heard about the uproar it was creating. It makes me wonder if the judge was bribed, or perhaps even had his own nasty sexual history once upon a time.
At the same time, I wonder what kind of sentence the rapist would have gotten had he been black. Twenty five years minimum, i'd bet.

He is a disgusting enabler and not fit to be a parent. I would love for him to sit down with the parents of the girl... the actual victim here... and hear how her life was affected by his son's actions. 20 minutes? Who gives a flying f**k how long it was, he committed a crime and now he should have to pay for it. Apparently this father lives in a bubble and someone needs to pop it.

His wife/mother also supported his son. Grandparents as well.

Oh wait, Brock has a sister.

he is not pleading his son's innocence, just that he should not face consequences for his actions. What does he think the effect on the girlis is after this 20 minutes?

He says his son should be able to teach othef youngsters notvto make the same mistake has he has. Hecwill be just asxabke to do this after his time in jail.

As screwed up as it is, you cannot blame the parents for wanting to protect their child. In situations like that I'm sure all forms of better judgment get tossed out the window. As wrong as they are, and as stupid as their statements are, I just can't hold it against them. I don't believe their pleas should be heeded in any way, but I can't blame them for making them.

I can blame them. They have a daughter. Even if there wasn't a daughter, father is married to a wife. So if his wife or daughter got it, would he tell them, "show some compassion dearie, you got only 20 minutes of action."

Parents will say or do ridiculous things on behalf of their children. Objectively, I know how wrong that is. But subjectively I am not going to condemn a parent trying to protect their child, even if the child so completely deserves punishment (as this one does), because that's what parents do.

Things is, this rapist seems to have a lot of people on his side. Some band got in trouble because one of its members voiced support for some reason. He must have had previous trouble because he already had a Probation Officer who wanted him to get off lightly on a charge of being drunk. Cripes; is this guy capable of casting spells on peoples' minds like Marvel Comics' Purple Man, or what?!

I have yet to see a post where he shows sympathy towards the victim instead of himself. I don't care if I don't know him. He's complete fucking scum.

You know, the father could write such a sick letter. In many other countries, the legal system doesnt allow either side to get any support.
