In football, I root for the Chiefs and Redskins.

In fútbol, I have no preferences really. I can watch Barcelona-Réal Madrid as easily as I could watch Tahiti-Mauritius.

Football:

Soccer:

Edited to add: This is meant to show what I mean when I use those terms, not what I think everyone should call them. I don't care if you call soccer "football" and football "American football" or "gridiron." Actually, I kind of like the gridiron name.

That fact that you appear to be insulted that Kyle posted a photo of girls playing soccer, says something.
How does an image of girls playing soccer reduce the quality or legitimacy of the sport? Are you saying that girls aren't good enough to play one of the best sports in the world?

Since I live in the UK and the whole purpose of the game is to use your feet, I only have interest in football.

Never was my intention, I am used to people making fun of my love of the sport, saying it's a girls sport. Or my family origins questioned

Try refereeing in England. THEN you'll get your family origins questioned!

Where I live it really is more common for girls to play soccer than boys, but no that's not why I did it. Perhaps it should be pointed out the University of Florida, one of the teams featured in that soccer picture, doesn't even have a men's soccer team, as most Southeastern Conference schools don't due to Title IX (well, at least partly due to Title IX). And it is kind of interesting to note that despite soccer being a relatively niche sport here in the US, we have arguably the best women's team in the world and the women's team is better known here than the men's.

I have respect for what soccer players do, especially with all that running around, but I just can't get into it.

Being from North America, I use the same wordage as Kyle. Both are boring in my books, but to be fair I'm not big on sports on general. Though I do enjoy watching some hockey (which must be because of my Canadian blood) and I'm surprised at just how intently I've been following the Blue Jay's playoff run so far.
