There is, but I don't know the technical term.

I never had it, but I was always nervous about it before it became fashionable, lol

Yes, indeed, Cellofello, "merinthophobia" is the the term. One of the many, MANY phobias listed in a list of human phobias. It makes one wonder, How has a person developed merinthophobia? Oh, I'm sure that there are many ways in which a person COULD acquire such a phobia. And,, for that matter, How do you "cure" a person of merinthophobia, if they want to be cured? I suppose the best method is to "expose" them directly to their fear! Let them experience it. Tie them up! But, is there such as thing as "merinthophilia"? Probably, probably.

Now, what is the term for a fear, or phobia, of being gagged? Or blindfolded? Just wondering.

how a person can acquire such a phobia, well, it's really simple, a traumatic experience.

when i was a teenager, there was this girl i knew who loved to be tied up, clearly she had a certain interest in bondage, so i remember tying her up at least twice. suddenly one day after a long time since the last time i tied her up, i suggested that we could play a TUG again, but she refused.
when i asked her why, because last time i checked she actually liked it, she answered that she had been kidnapped at school, some of her classmates had dragged her into a room and tied her up against her will, and ever since she just found the whole idea about being tied up frightening.

i don't have much contact with her now, so i don't know if she have gotten over her phobia or not, but this was about 10 years ago, so i guess it's possible that she have gained interest for being tied up again.
