Aren't all countries in debt these days

While we can't force them to send money if they really can't , i do think they have the moral obligation to at least do something to help

Would we; not need help if something like this happened to (us / you)
Regardless of country debt - its human nature to jump in and lend a hand - really has nothing to do with money.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion though - however my thoughts will be in Japan / with the saftey of my Dad - Proud that he is helping those in need.

Matty, that is my sentiments exactly! Money or the lack of it has for too long been the copp-out excuse used by our establishment for denying help and support even to our own people. I'm proud of your dad too and will ask God to watch over and protect him and the Japanese people. And I challenge these rich entrepreneurs to get out of those offices and off their conspiratorial butts and pick me up and we go down there with shovels and help find the poor souls buried and may-be trapped and bring them to a safe camp, to eventually reunite with families.

Anyone who doesn't want to help people in genuine need like the people in Japan now do has no right to call themselves civilized or even a decent human being.
To ignore the plight of people in need is to my mind among the worst (as well as sadly the most common) kinds of immorality.

we've to help, but correctly. I've heard the US-marine came with battleships. Such help should be forbidden. They do the same stupid thing like haiti.

Those ships were already there, as the United States Seventh Fleet is based in Japan. In fact, we have numerous military bases in Japan; something like 85 on the mainland alone (15 of them US Navy).
One of the remaining consequences of WWII I suppose, although the situation with North Korea, China, and other unfriendly southeast Asian nations probably has much to do with it too.
