Will You Tie Me Up?

Postby sarwrductan » Tue Nov 29, 2011 6:12 pm

The following was a brief study I did using our Webster's dictionary and came up with an interesting wide ranging implication. Hopefully
you'll all discuss this or support it with what literary findings you have?...Just a thought. I do ask you to read, not scan, to understand. THank you in advance.

Will-the power of making a reasoned choiceor decision or of controlling one's own actions.
-the particular desire, pleasure, purpose, choice, etc. of a certain person or group [what is your will]
-to express simple futurity, usually with implications of intention, determination, compulsion, obligation, or necessity
You-the person or persons to whom one is speaking or writing
Tie-to fasten, attach, or bind together or to something else, as with string, cord, or rope; made secure by knotting, etc.
-to draw together or join the parts, ends, or sides of, by tightening, and knotting laces
-to fasten, connect, join, or bind in any way
-to make an equal score or achievement
Me-Self-one's own person as distinct from all others
Up- up to [colloq.] occupied with; doing;scheming; devising; equal to (a task, challenge, etc.); capable of
(doing, undertaking, etc.) even within space, time, degree, etc.

Will You Tie Me Up.....equals=expressing simple futurity with implied intents; desires; pleasures; choice of a person or a group
...reasoned choice or decision, or control...you, person addressed...tie, fasten, attach, bind to, string or rope me, self,...occupied
with; undertaking within time, space, degree, etc.

Sorta implies that everyday life is a kind of being tied up ....doesn't it? Constraints are restraints. And so are restrictions and regulations.
One does not get what one wants or needs unless they meet certain requirements in a specified way, in a designated place, at a designated time
Right? And even then its only so much for so long according to what some manual or company or agency decides....???

I'm trying to get you to think of words and their meanings in expanded definition. Not Thesaurus or Thesaurius which is simply word association.
Hpoe to find some input when I stop back to check. Have a nice day, evening, etc. LOL....

Uniformed Compliance [ Uni- formed Compliance]

Snug fitting shorts, thick layered, stretchy with legs that cover just past my buttocks having re enforced stitched hems banding my legs (thighs)
An inch and a half elastic waist, the shorts pale blue in color.
Then added, was this T-shirt with green, white, red, blue, yellow, and orange, stripes an inch wide crossways, my neck down. When I put it on it
just covered my shorts.
Wearing also knee socks, and these slip on brown shoes. From a distance, to look at me, and the others, you'd think we were all girls in short dresses.
This was what we had to wear all day.
When you have people with control over you, they pick what you wear, expect chores and duties of you, select your education, and what learning experiences you're exposed to. You don't have choice nor input. You either go along and perform as expected ( acting and doing as you're told)
or you're made to sit time out in a empty room, on a chair facing in a corner, or lose privileges til you do.

Used to you might have been paddled for not doing as told or for refusing or for running away. Or you'd be restricted, (grounded) and nicities taken away
(T.V.,Video Games, Phone privileges, or going out to play, or having friends over)...
Or may-be put in hand and feet hobbles shackling you limiting your mobilities...as applications available for them to use.
These who are in control over you can defend themselves and or each other; as well cannot hurt you. (Used to be)...Use of knock out injections
(sedative muscle relaxers), tasers, isolation cells,or total tie down immobilizing restraints, which have to be reported to this group of civilians selected
from around the surrounding community who supposedly intensely investigate each report for wrong doing. Sooooo.....
When you're told to wear...then you will do it. There is no humiliation spared of you. If they have to dress you, and those you live with won't let
you live it down so easily.

Just speaking from my own experience of actual happenings from my point of observational views. I'm sure if you study our society like I have,
not guided nor instructed by established protocols of doing so.....then you'd see what I'm talking about.

One last thought to share here....Rules and regulations policies laws and procedures are all like a field or pasture surrounded with complicated fences or fencing. The fencing being the rules policies and all that other. There's still all that space inside that fenced area that we have to do as we please.
Of course, sometimes the consequences are that we are charged with violating the rules, laws protocols policies or procedures and must be punished.
When actually, all we did was find a loop hole.

Your initial analysis is flawed, "tie me up" should not be analysed as three words but as two words/phrases: “me” and “tie up”. The “up” is merely part of the compound word “tie up” (oh for the old-fashioned use of the hyphen!) and should not be analysed in the manner you suggest.

Hmmmmm....hyphenated words tie-up vs. don't (Do not), Can't(Can not);.....hyphen---a hyphen,lit.,under one, together, in one<hypo-,under+hen, neut.acc.
of heis, one;for IE base see same ref. Webster's dictionary. apostrophe---averted(accent)<same base as prec. the mark( ' ) used; to show (Ex.;it's for it is, o' for of)..........O.k. while all that seems to make it more complicated than it is..."tie-up" is in fact in my dictionary tie-up (ti'up') temporary stoppage or delay in work, production, traffic, or services----a place of mooring (as a boat) ---a place for tying up livestock for the night----connection, relation, or involvment.
Looking back, I see your point. Defining "up" separate of "Tie" gives separate of what ordinarily would be of a sameness or one. Actually, looking back at the defining and then here in this segment, "up" isn't needed. " Tie-me" says what we want, expressing our will. Or is that debatable?
