I strongly urge you to reconsider your definition of "inactive member". A lot of people read but don't post. Don't you have a way to see when their last login was? I would think that not having logged in for the last two years, even with 100 posts to one's credit, is more symptomatic of an inactive account than joining in January, posting just three times, but logging in every week to read. Yet by your definition the first account stays while the second one dies.

I support this opinion. I am reading many stories - some more than once - and ejoying them. I am regretting often when stories aren't finished. But I don't comment very often. For: a) I want write something substantial, not only thanks or good or... b) I'm not used to write in English, so a) is a bit difficult. I don't know about the possibilities of statistics of the board. But to see that stories are read is a recognition of the writer, also without comment. When I buy a book and read it I can't normally comment it.
