Simulated Disability

Postby tieup2008 » Fri Aug 31, 2012 12:01 pm

As we're now in the Paralympic games time, has anyone able bodied ever been or thought of being tied or blindfolded or something to play a sport or normal perform an everyday activity?

There are disabilty team building exercises I've seen where able bodied people are tied, etc., to simulate having no arms, legs, etc.

Anyone done that or thinking of doing it?

I would like know how is be blind and deaf I not know how long I live in sensory deprivation. What I not like is, if anyone do it and with it put false light and bring dishonour to real handicap.

If you were to simulate being blind it would have to be a blindfold. Deaf some kind of earplugs.

I saw disability simulation exercise on TV once and it was to highlight the difficulties of having a disability to able bodied people, no disrespect or dishonour. For example if they wanted to see what it was like to have no use of their arms, they'd have their hands tied, that sort of thing.

yes for blind I think you need medical eye patches and a sleep mask or black glasses.
As far I know real Deaf you can not real simulate, earplugs and headphone ear protector came only near as could.
I read story of "want it be" fetishes and the make no good picture in public.
I sit self in a wheelchair and that it no reason to act like I also mentally handicapped.
Ok I want feel how is to be more handicapped than I´m would know how to us secure belts but I would know how to cover it and act the public not find out.

Back in high school, in gym class we were taught "drownproofing". The final exercise was to have our hands tied so that we would be forced to use only our legs for any kind of boost.

You see, this is the kind of thing I mean.

Did that spark your interest in being tied up?

I don't know if its related, but I once joined a camp with an activity that requires participants to build a monument with their eyes blindfolded.
There was also another camp that our hands were tied behind our backs while holding a broom in attempt to sweep and move the ping pong ball to a target point.
What fun!^^

Again, these are the sort of things I mean.

Have you been to camp recently for anything like this to happen again?

At the national scout jamboree, they had a disability awareness section with blind running, blind bb shooting, wheelchair bowling, wheelchair basketball, dyslexic mazes, 1 armed baseball, all kinds of things. Also, in driver's ed, we put on drunk goggles and drove around the football(Anerican) practice field. It was all fun and games until my friend almost drove the security guard off of one of the cliffs.

All sounds good fun apart from nearly driving off a cliff!

Oh, no - my interest goes back to age 4, if not earlier.

Two more from Flickr - the use of liquid latex. This will be harder to remove than adhesive eye patches, and, with skilled make-up, easier to conceal for the purposes of public bondage.

Are there any similar examples?
