Hardcore or softcore?

Postby Sealherlips » Tue Apr 30, 2013 9:31 pm

I'm planning on getting my own clips4sale bondage site, and I was planning on doing softcore bondage videos. But a friend of mine said that softcore doesn't sell, only hardcore. What do you all think? I won't do hardcore, but should I even bother with softcore?

If you look at the stores like Girl Next Door Bondage, which would is pretty softcore in so far as there's no sex or even full frontal nudity, then it seems like softcore does sell pretty well, and there's definitely a huge market for it amongst people who just like seeing the restraint aspect of bondage without all the hardcore stuff. That clip store has been really successful as far as I know, I think the guy who founded it was able to retire from his regular job due to doing so well financially off the back of clips4sale.

I don't know exactly the comparison between the two in terms of how well they sell, maybe hardcore does make more money, but it wouldn't be true to say that softcore "doesn't sell", because, well, it definitely does.

The thing is though, for the softcore sites that have gained success, it seems like a pretty professional set up with well-knows bondage models who alot of bondage fans would recognise, in a few different locations and really professional camera work.

I don't know what means you have at your disposal, but in order to make and real money, it has to be a pretty legit operation in that sense. Anyway I hope I could provide a few useful points.

Just dont expect to make too much bucks out of it ;) After all, the net is already abundand with all kinds and flavours of such vids. If you see it as hobby, though, it may work out.

I'm not too worried about a profit, just breaking even on it. I have to hire models, and I don't want to lose money on it.

Sorry to put it that way...but then you are on a lost cause, most likely.
Only the biggest sites/producers do break even in this bussiness, let alone make profits. The only way is to cut costs- i.e. dont hire models but ask friends/partners if they are willing to do the job.

Edit: Here's what I have written about example costs for a professional bondage shooting...just to have some figures.

Another very good point. I do have a friend that said she would do videos at no charge.
