Problems

Postby drawscore » Mon Sep 15, 2014 6:48 pm

Maybe I should trade in the laptop, as it gave me a few problems over the weekend. It didn't recognize my screen name or password.

Yet, here I am on the desktop, and everything works fine. Sort'a makes me want to bury a pickaxe in the laptop, and throw the POS in the trash.

Its likely adware or some form of malware on your system. You should do a completr scan of your system with your antivirus software. If that doesn't help, you shpuld consider an OS reinstall. Be sure to backup any important data if you do.

I'll have it looked at. $70 to the computer tech is cheaper than buying a new computer, or even a used one.

As for back up, I have always said that you NEVER keep anything on your hard drive you don't want anyone to find or see. I keep all that stuff on CD's, DVD's, and flash drives, which can be "plugged in" when I need or want to use them, and removed when I'm done.

Elusinius had told me about your problem accessing your account, and I had to boot it up to Zanev because I can't do anything about creating new accounts or anything. Shall I tell him then to never mind?

For future reference: i always set up TWO administrator accounts. One for me (natch) and one for my cat. if i can't get in to mine, I can "borrow" my cat's administrator and try to fix the OS problem that way... Hope this helps.

I can imagine the conversation:
Tony: Cat, fix this for me
Cat: Me? How?

CAT: while in a TM Trance from an overload of catnip, he can fix anything (or so he thinks)

Sounds like the result would be a cat-astrophe.
