I see two questions. First, you wonder if your predicament could have been prevented, and the answer is, of course, "yes." If you had not tried to tie him up, then you probably would not have found yourself in that situation.
The second question, is if it ever happened to me. Yes, if you count a two on one situation, where I and some friends were playing a game where the object was for one team to capture all the members of the other three teams. There were a dozen of us between 10 and 14, and three to a team. I had pulled the flag of one of my opponents, and was in the process of tying his hands, when his teammate sneaked up on me, and pulled my flag. They tied my hands behind me (with my own rope, as each player carried two pieces - one about six feet long, and another, around 12 feet), gagged me with my flag (a bandana), and took me to their base, where they tied my feet, and left enough of a "tail" to tie my ankles to my wrists in a hog tie. They had captured four others, and had tied all of them the same way.
But there was no "tickle torture, or anything else to make me any more uncomfortable than I already was. Fortunately, I was "rescued" by one of my teammates after laying hog tied for about 15-20 minutes. Unfortunately, I got captured again (and tied up again, but not hog tied.) Also unfortunately, my team was one of the three losing teams. When the game ended, I was one of nine boys, tied and gagged at the base of the winning team (which was not the team that caught me the first time).
Looking back on it, it was fun being a kid.
