hard to tell. Several different kinds / causes of Arthritis. Ruling out genetic, unless you spent a lot of time on the rack and grew 3 inches as a result or were hogtied tightly over a long period of time, I would bet more on the mechanic. It is repetitive motion that can aggravate arthritis (a calcification in the bone joints) and nerve damage can result from pressure and a physical damage to the nerve.
