The TV show or movie that made you love TUGs

The original Jonny Quest, which came out in 1964 when I was only eight years old.

Ahh, there was nothing quite like Scooby-Doo to twist the mind of a young brat like me. But I always wished Velma had gotten into as much peril as Daphne! I had a thing for the nerd girls with hourglass figures even as a little lad...

Uhhh... Velma had an hourglass figure?

Hmmm... I dunno. She always seemed kind chunky to me... at least, compared to Daphne she is! She's not too bad; but hers is not an hourglass figure either.

How can you have chunkiness and have an hourglass figure at the same time? :worried:
Anyway, even when the show first came out I always figured she was supposed to be slightly pudgy. Not obese; not homely either - just pudgy. But maybe I was seeing myself in her, since I was also a pudgy, plain-looking, glasses-wearing, fairly book-smart, nerdy and somewhat shy person as a teen just like her (except being a guy of course). I was in my early teens myself when the show first came out and always kind of identified with her more than with the other characters.

For me it was re-runs of the classic Batman series. Practically every episode ended with Batman and Robin in some kind of peril, and I always found that exciting. Even more so when Catwoman had placed them in that peril. This was further enhanced when Batgirl was introduced, seeing a sexy girl in a skin tight outfit tied up was something I loved, even before I was properly into girls.

For me it was the Hardy boys Frank and Joe who were always tied and gagged.

The show "Fury". Many scenes of Joey Newton---played by Bobby Diamond---and several of his friends, in bound and gagged situations. Also, "The Rifleman".

I think it was those Saturday morning re-runs (Rin Tin Tin; Fury; Annie Oakley), Daniel Boone in prime time, and The Rifleman on the independent TV station, weekdays at 5.

Honorable mention to several of Disney's Wonderful World of Color two-parters (Mooncussers, Way Down Cellar, Kit Carson and the Mountain Men); and movies like Westward Ho the Wagons and Savage Sam.

I'm an old timer up there in years with Jason T. and xtc, by crackee.

For me it was the original version of The Mickey Mouse Club. It had several cliffhanger serials and one was Corky and White Shadow, a western. Corky was the Sheriff's daughter. The Sheriff was played by Buddy Ebsen, 6 years before starring in The Beverly Hillbillies. Corky was played by Montreal native Darlene Gillespie, an original Mousketeer. Ms. Gillespie is alive and I assume well. She's 72 and lives in Southern California.

On the show the local bank is robbed. Corky becomes Nancy Drew and tracks them down to their hideout in the woods. She confronts them and naively expects them to return the loot. She is promptly tree-tied and gagged OTM with a bandana. She is struggling and mmphing. Suddenly a rattlesnake approaches the tree as the show ends. When the show returns the rattler is getting closer. At the last second her captor takes his gun and shoots the snake.
The gun shot attracts the attention of Corky's search and rescue posse. The guy said he'd knew he be caught but was more concerned for her safety. Awww.

That was my first DID and the first time I heard of such a thing as being tied up. I was mesmorized. My head was ready to explode. It wouldn't have mattered if it was a damsel or dude in distress. I'm a switch and very egalitarian wheen it comes to TUGs. The next day I took a wire used for newspaper bundles and SB'd myself around the waist and a tree and tried to walk forward. My mom must have seen it and thought "Aww, how cute!" When I came in for supper my mom said "Hey Podner, looks like some varmint tied you up." If she knew how much of a turn on it was I"m sure she'd have gotten me to a competent child psychologist. This was the 50s.

Later on I tied a neighbor girl to a tree using her jump ropes. We also had a secluded woods nearby and I would take some rope and my dad's hankerchiefs and treetied and gagged myself OTM. I knew you had to discreet.later on into my teen years most of the TUGs involved fellows. Not a preference, just the neighboorhood demographics.

Another serial on the MMC was Disney's verion of The Hardy Boys but I don't think they were bound and gagged like they were in the books. How many people saw their first tieups through the Magic of Disney, be it That Darn Cat! or 1992's Aladdin? That's my start, thanks for reading. T.T. :tied:

I think it might have been, "Spellbinder." It was a kid's show and they had this blonde actress who got tied up quite a few times.

There was also this film called, "Mystery at Castle House," which was a kid's film with a few good tie ups - this movie is actually on YouTube now.

Cartoons. It was either The Flinstones, Scooby Doo or Speed Racer for me. I was probably about 3 or 4 years old.

I don't think there was one in particular, but Ninja Turtles definitely had an influence, probably as big as anything.

I was a big reader as a kid and books probably did as much as TV shows or movies. That and another response above reminded me of something I saw in the school library when I was in elementary school, trying to get kids interested in reading. They had a number of big posterboard drawings done by students of various events they'd come across in books. The one that sticks in my mind was the picture someone drew of Nancy Drew, and it was supposed to be depicting her bound and gagged in a closet after getting captured by a villain. I never read Nancy Drew (I was a boy and would never be caught reading books aimed at girls in fear of catching their cooties) but that memory had a big influence on me for some reason.

So many but a few that come to mind are:
1) Campy 60\s Batman series: who can forget Batgirl. If only it could have happened to Catwoman (Julie Newmar).
2) Avengers: Emma Peel and various guest.
3) Some movie with Rita Hayworth (sorry, don't know the name).

What had more of an effect, though, were those old crime magazines. Many of them had a gorgeous damsel tied and gagged on the cover. Boy, those were the days.

For a compilation of Fury tieups go to the TUG Videos section and scroll down to the bottom of the page. Click "You Tube Vids" and you see a link posted by Drawscore called Fury "Fesselnde". It's probably from the German home video as the soundtrack is in German. Some Youtube commentators thought this was a German production but it's American from the 50s. Note on one scene there's the close up of the back of a truck and the California license plate has a strip of tape over "California." I guess the producers wanted a generic location, at least a generic Western U.S. location. It runs just under 15 minutes. Thanks DS.

I was awhere if inspector gadget but was never much of a fan, I did watch it from time to time so I did remember many tie up scenes.

I'd say the cartoon of Sonic where either sonic or Tails got tied up in a lot of episodes.

Of course Inspector Gadget was voiced by comedic actor Don Adams who played Maxwell Smart, Agent 86 in Get Smart. His co-star was Barbara Feldon who played Agent 99. One or both of them got tied up frequently in the clutches of K.A.O.S. This mid to late 60s show was a parody of other spy shows of the era such as The Avengers, The Man From U.N.C.L.E. and The Girl From U.N.C.L.E. which featured tieups galore. There were other shows of this genre such as I Spy, The Prisoner and Secret Agent (known in the U.K. as Danger Man) but tieups weren't as common.

These shows were cashing in on the James Bond craze.

CSI has many tied and gagged scenes that got me into it.
You will have to subdue me to restrain me. I been a bad boy so make sure you torture me too with anything but pain.

I also remember the scene in Alladin but I don't remember any particular fondness of that scene. I always remembered the rest of the movie a lot better.

I also very vaguely remember Peter and some lost boys in some version of Peter Pan. I don't think I was even 8 at the time so until someone showed me the scene I had NO idea it had even existed.

For the Baby Boomer Generation there's The Adventures of Superman , the TV show from the 1950s, usually with Lois and /or Jimmy getting B&G. I remember one episode where Lois, Jimmy and Clark Kent are bound, gagged and blindfolded. (How convenient!) Clark breaks free right away but shortly thereafter after some mmmphing Lois says "Clark, I've worked my gag loose! Are you OK?" Clark puts the gag in his mouth and mmpphs. Of course Lois and Jimmy are still blindfolded while Superman goes to the rescue. Fortunately for Clark the bad guys didn't use kryptonite rope.

I had similar with the New Adventures of Superman, in the 90s. Every week Lois, played by the gorgeous Teri Hatcher, seemed to be getting tied up.

Well for me the old superman episodes, were nice SKY KING was one I watched as it had gone into syndication I loved watching the cliffhanger serials, but it truly began for the summer of 1977 I was 9 years old That Memorial day weekend a movie opened up that pretty much summed up everything for me.
It had Hero's a Villian and a lovely damsel.

Except for the NAME of the movie. The only one I can think of offhand that came out around then was the original Star Wars, but I recall nothing like TUGs in there unless you're referring to the whole Damsel In Distress thing.

Perhaps it could scene in Star Wars with Jabber be. But think scene that fit best was think in Star Wars Return of the Jedi with Leia Organa and Jabber or was that film before.

Well, not everyone has a memory as sharp as a tack like you... and me. I wasn't sure Star Wars was the ONLY movie released that weekend; only that it was the only I could think of that I knew was released that weekend. I remember because I watched the darn thing four times in one week! :D
I figured it wasn't The James Bond movie Malifoster mentioned because I'm certain without looking it up that it came out in July, because I recall seeing it on my 21st birthday (and my birthday is in July, natch)... and I doubted Mistofolesse was likely to make an error in time like that.

But Mistofoleese said 1977, and that was when the first Star Wars movie (since renamed Episode 4: A New Hope) came out. The one you're thinking of was return of the Jedi, which premiered in May of 1983.
