Can you remember when...

You first realised that either being tied up (or indeed seeing others bound) was appealing to you?

If I recall correctly, I think it was watching Disney movies as a kid - there were a few prominent scenes in which people were tied up/kidnapped. My attention was immediately drawn and aged 22 I still look for them whenever they're on TV...You?

I remember as a kid scenes on TV and in movies always appealed to me. It wasn't until I was older that I realised exactly why.

The crux was when I was 10 and watching Pokemon, an episode where Ash got tied up (torso and wrists) which I couldn't stop re-watching the scenes of Ash tied up.

I don't really remember a specific time. I was fairly young and I always seemed interested in the idea of someone being taken prisoner, and being tied up made it seem a lot more serious, although early on it didn't even have to involve someone getting tied up to get me interested.

I do know cartoons probably helped my interest develop tremendously, and some childhood games where someone got taken prisoner helped too, even though unfortunately it was uncommon for someone to actually get tied up. I used to pretend it sometimes with a girl across the street who was closest to me in age (about a year older than me) but rarely did someone get truly restrained in any way except a few times some of the older kids in the neighborhood got involved.

I guess my interest would've started around the age of 5 or 6, and more fully developed as I got older.

I was reading the last story from the book 'dreamfighter' by ted hughes, and for some unknown reason, i couldnt stop rereading it. That was when i first got interested in tying people up.

Yea it was definitely at a young age. I remember seeing Wendy tied up in Peter Pan and that seemed to have had a long lasting effect on me.

Wendy did get tied up in that movie? I've thought she did before, but it's probably been pushing 25 years ago since I've seen that movie so I could not for the life of me remember it for sure.

I think my interest developed in Primary school, I remember picking out this history book in the library during personal reading time and stumbled upon a section on slavery I think. Anyway it featured a drawing of a young man tied spread eagle, in a loin cloth, using stakes in the ground. I remember being so intrigued as it's the first image I'd ever seen of that and also having to fake how much I'd read when actually I'd just been staring at the drawing for pretty much the whole session! Definitely revisited that book a few times!

80s child, so watching Ninja Turtles on TV. Every episode they'd have to rescue April O'Neil who was tied up 90% of the time and this interested me, then as I grew up, I experimented myself.
There's always time for a nice cup of tea.

I'd bet Ninja Turtles inspired a lot of interest in tie-up games. It was one of the influences on me, although I can't trace the interest solely to that.

To all of you who mentioned Ninja Turtles, I second that! I think the interest was always there. I wish I could quote multiple people in one post, because I feel like a lot of my early feelings of interest in TUGS have been accurately described by what you guys have previously said. But definitely I clearly remember one episode where there's this evil clone version of Donatello running around, and he ties up the real Donatello and stuffs him in a closet. That part turned me on, for sure (though I really didn't even know what that meant back then, as I was an 80's kid as well and was only maybe 6 or so at the time), but even more so was the moment when he was found by the others. For some reason, tying me up gets me going; but the embarrassment of being found tied up - the moment other people who know me realize that I was overpowered, tied up, and rendered helpless - gets me going ten times as much. Strange, and I never have been able to pinpoint why. But that's the way it is.

So, long story short, I do remember when: TMNT!!
