I Finally Did It…Well Almost

For years now I have wanted to bring up the subject of bondage in a conversation just to see how people might react. The problem was finding a way to work it in without being too obvious.

I thought that it would be easier with the popularity of Fifty Shades of Grey but that didn’t work out. Even though bondage had a brief flirtation with being mainstream I never got an opportunity to try my test. Then I had another sort of chance to see how someone might react.

At work I contacted one of my suppliers by email, a rather attractive woman named Bridgette, and asked her to send me a quote on a piece of equipment that I needed. I usually get an immediate reply from her but this time it took six days.

She wrote;

Hi Nelson
So sorry for the delay, I have been tied up in training this week.

This was my chance and I replied;

Hey Bridgette
You’ve been tied up! Sounds like fun. I hope you’re well trained now. Thanks for the quote.

I hoped that Bridgette might make a comment that would tell me one way or the other how she felt about being “tied up”. I should have known better. All I got in reply was LOL.

Has anyone else ever slipped a comment into a conversation to see what sort of reaction it might get?

There have been a couple of occasions when I've been at work and I've been using tape for different things, where a colleague (female both times, one I would quite like to do bondage with, the other not as much) has asked me what the tape is for and I have jokingly replied "For your mouth." The first one can talk for England, she simply replied that I'd need a lot to shut her up, the second one just called me cheeky but she knew I didn't mean it.
Mmmmmmppppppphhhhhhhh!!!!

It definitely is one of those situations that usually arises based on the environment and context.

I really think the only way to be guaranteed it has been "communicated" is be fairly open about it. It has become recognized as a very mainstream activity in the states as far as ive noted.
To tie or be tied? I'm not one to care as long as there are gags!

You meant to say that she "thought" you didn't mean it!

Sadly it was hoped by many, including me, that the success of Fifty Shades of Grey was going to spark a few conversations but that never materialized in my case. I know that people are reading it but they seem to be reluctant to talk about it. I think that bondage has been associated with the violent nature of the main character and has actually suffered because of it. If the relationship between Christian and Anastasia had been more fun I'm sure that public reaction would have been more positive.
