aware study and nde,s

First off, I am unsure if this was a near death experience or just a very very vivid dream I had when I was a child and had a serious illness (don't remember what it was, but I was very ill for a while).
I was about 8 years old; this was in 1964 before I'd ever even heard of near-death experiences, so I had no preconceptions of them whatsoever. I didn't learn my mother had had one herself as a teenager until much later; I can describe that one too sometime if you like, but can only render what I recall of what she said of it (but she was a very honest woman so I know she didn't make it up).
Anyway, I was sick in bed as miserable as can be. Suddenly I felt really light and found myself flying like a bird outside of my house. Naturally I was surprised, but pleased I didn't feel bad anymore; in fact I felt great. It was a school day so I flew to my grade school, which was about three blocks away from where I lived at the time. I flew to the playground and tried to attract attention (Look at me! I'm flying!). But no one could see me or hear me, which puzzled me. I thought everyone was ignoring me at first (Hey! I'm FLYING! Look at me!), but nothing I did could attract anyone's attention at all.
Suddenly I saw some other people flying into the sky from a distance, in the direction (and I recalled this only afterward) of the town hospital (I was familiar with where it was because my father worked there as a lab technician). So I flew off after them, figuring *they'd* pay some attention to me. Turns out one of them had just died and the others were escorting him to Heaven! Well, naturally I asked if I could come along. The leader of the group seemed nonplussed at my presence but figured I'd better come along too.
So we went, and arrived in a place that seemed all clouds and blue sky up and down and everywhere you looked. It was quite beautiful and I felt very happy to be there. Suddenly I saw either God or one hell of a large angel (he was miles tall whoever he was, but I was eye to eye with him since I was high in the air) right before me. He greeted me by name and was quite friendly, but told me with some regret that it wasn't my time yet and I'd have to go back to finish living my life. And before I could react to this, I found myself back in my sick bed again (or had woken up - to this day I do not know for certain which). Thankfully though I recovered rapidly after that... one reason of many why I can't be entirely sure it was only a dream. If it was a dream, it was by far the most vivid one I ever had!
Dare to be different... and make a difference.
