The unfortunate man had so little control over his body that he took the only control remaining to him.
I believe that the judicial decision was tantamount to cruelty.
RIP to a brave warrior.

Decisions like this are probably more an attempt to evade being subjected to lawsuits than from any supposed humanitarian notions about the sanctity of life and so forth. This needs to change. This fate awaits many of us someday; my own mother died in a prolonged and unpleasant fashion due to simple old age; I watched her die and for many hours before her end finally came wished she could just get her suffering over and done with!
