thanks for all the compliments

i've been working on this story for a long time now and there is a total of 10 chapters.
it's funny how it just started out with a simple idea that just kept evolving.
at the moment i will try to upload 2 chapters a week. i could of course share the entire story right now, but i feel like i should just upload a little at the time.

i got to be honest, iv'e had this long time when my mind was a bit dry and i have been under some stress for some time now. so i haven't actually put my head into making up any new stories for the fictional stories until i got the idea for this story during this summer.
and as much as i want to continue writing on my previous work in the fictional section, i simply have been dried out.
Sarah and Mr Stratos, Marie Egildóttir, Monkeybusiness, i wanted to continue writing a lot more for them, but my mind just haven't been able to focus on them really.
still, this doesn't mean i never will write about those again. i'll just need the right inspiration first. and that inspiration could be just around the corner really.
anyway, here is the next chapter for my little troll story. i hope people will enjoy it just as much as the first chapter.
chapter two: river stones.the day after Emily was at the café in Fitta village with uncle Fred. the rope marks had faded away, but was still barely visible.
«well, i have sent a message to your parents and told them that you managed to stay outside for 4 hours already on the first day. i didn’t mention the strange marks though, i don’t think it’s anything serious since you aren’t itching and since they are fading away».
Emily smiled «did you get a respond yet?»
«not yet».
«i need to use the toilet, i’ll be right back» Emily said and stood up from her chair as she walked toward the toilets. she was wearing a green t-shirt today and denim shorts. she had white socks and the same red shoes as the day before. as she got into the toilet she quickly flicked the lock on the door and pulled up her phone from her backpack.
«not only do i have a signal here, i even got wi-fi» she said as she connected to Gravel Café’s wi-fi.
this was perfect, that meant she was able to go online without her mom figuring out from the phone bill later.
«holy macaroni, i got a ton of new snaps and twitter updates».
Emily tried to answer as many as she could but time was short, she couldn’t hide in the bathroom for that long.
as she came back from the bathroom uncle Fred was sipping a cup of coffee and said «i got a respond from your parents, apparently your mom started crying as soon as we left».
«really? that is so typical of her, she always have to make a drama out of everything»
«yeah, you might have your mother’s look but there is no doubt that you have the personality from your dad» uncle Fred said as he stood up «well, we should just get some groceries and then we’ll head back to the cabin».
«hey uncle, how do you earn money? i mean, you don’t have a job do you?»
«ever since i sold my share of the company i never had to work again, but i can be boring at times so once every now and then i work down at the pub here in Fitta and earn some extra money».
after they had been at the grocery store they took the ATV back to the cabin and carried the stuff back inside.
it was 12 o’clock, Emily asked carefully «can i go outside and play now?»
«sure, dinner will be at 5 today, so be back by then»
«i will» Emily said and went outside with her backpack.
as she was walking back to the trolls cave she took a few pictures with her phone «i’ll have to admit it’s kinda pretty out here, i should upload a few pictures for instagram next time i am at the Café».
she soon arrived the cave where she shouted «Björnulf! Leifling! Bob! i’m back!».
somebody came out of the cave, but this was not a tiny forest troll like the ones she already knew. this guy was a lot taller than any human Emily had ever met.
«woah…» she said as she studied the 9 feet tall creature that was wearing a coat and a huge bag. just like the forest trolls he had spiky stiff hair and a long crooked nose, but he was not as chubby. he still had a tail similar to the ones the forest trolls had but it was longer, much longer.
he looked kinda strict and said «is this the human you talked about?»
Bob came out of the cave and answered «yup…»
«well, as long as you don’t distract them from the work i don’t care. now i gotta deliver this bag with ropes down at Fitta» he said with a deep voice as he walked away.
«was that the troll you talked about earlier that you work for?» Emily said.
«yup…» Bob answered in his usual style.
«he’s huge»
«yup…»
«but he is not a forest troll like you guys»
«nope…»
«what kind a troll is he then?»
«staurem…»
«what kind of specie is that?»
Bob didn’t respond any longer, but now Leifling and Björnulf came out from the cave as well.
«alright, so you met the boss» Björnulf said.
«yeah, he was huge».
«yep… oh by the way, we figured out what you can do for us as a favor today. just follow us»
they went to the river, the water was crystal clear and the sun had a beautiful reflection in it.
«you see down in the bottom of the river?» Björnulf said.
«yeah» Emily answered as she studied the water «what about it?»
«at the bottom there are some very unique stones that are filled with minerals, but we are unable to get them»
«aha, so you want me to get them for you?»
«yup, you are a lot bigger than us. so it shouldn’t be a problem for you».
«i think i should be able to walk out to them» Emily said as she took of her backpack and put it on the ground.
she started to take of her shoes and socks, soon she was bare feet.
«alright, this shouldn’t be that hard» she said as she lifted her right foot and placed it in the water.
suddenly Emily screamed «AHHH! the water is freezing!»
«well of course it is, this water comes from the glacier that you can see up in the mountains, it’s newly melted ice. why do you think we don’t wanna do it?»
«i don’t know, i thought that you had a problem because you were so tiny that you wouldn’t be able to lift the stones by yourself or something».
«girl, we may be tiny, but trust me, we can lift those stones with no problem at all. we simply just don’t like getting wet, and especially when the water is as cold as this».
«well you could at least have warned me!» Emily shouted frustrated and turned around. she walked around in the cold river looking at the bottom at a some shiny stones. she picked one of them up and said «is this one okay?»
«that would be perfect, if you can get 2 more of them about the same size then we are done here» Björnulf said.
Leifling was jumping up and down with his tongue sticking out of his wide open mouth and waving his arms, he seemed really excited.
as soon as Emily came out of the river she placed the rocks in front of them, Leifling grabbed one and started jumping as he made his weird noises.
«well, he seems happy» Emily pointed out as she was rubbing her cold feet. suddenly without any warning Leifling opened his mouth and took a huge bite of the rock.
«what the hell?!» Emily shouted as Leifling was crunching the rock between his teeth.
«of course he is excited, we haven’t eaten one of those in a long time» Björnulf said as he took a rock himself and had a bite as well.
«so basically i just had to get you lunch?» she said confused.
«yup…» Bob responded as he also took a bite from his rock.
Emily couldn’t find any proper words for this, she just stood there shocked with her mouth wide open.
the forest trolls finished eating and it was now time for them to return the favor.
«alright, so how shall we tie you up today?» Björnulf asked.
Emily opened her backpack and pulled out one of the comics «i wanted to go for something simple today» she said as she showed them the magazine with the damsel in distress tied up «and today i also brought along a gag».
Emily pulled out a scarf from her backpack while the trolls studied the magazine she had chosen this time.
«well, this shouldn’t be too much of a problem» Björnulf said «Leifling, get a C-8-8. Bob, help me locate a fitting tree that we can use».
on this cover Detective Kathleen had been captured in a basement with her hands tied above her head and a cleave gag covering her mouth, so much rope wouldn’t be needed.
finding a tree didn’t take long, they just needed one that had a thick branch. Leifling was back in a short time with a white cotton rope that he tossed in front of his brothers.
«before you tie me up today guys i just have to do something» Emily said as she pulled some more items out of her backpack «as you can see i still got rope marks from yesterday, and if i have more of them today uncle Fred might get suspicious».
«why don’t you want him to know?» Björnulf asked.
«because he will definitely tell my mom and dad, and they will freak out for sure» Emily said as she pulled a pair of long white socks over each of her arms «let’s just hope that this will do the trick».
everything was ready. they had the ropes prepared, Emily had covered up her arms to avoid any more suspicious marks and she had brought a scarf along that she could be gagged with as well.
the trolls studied the pictures in the magazine closely before Björnulf grabbed the rope and said «alright, hold your arms out in front».
Emily did like the little troll told her and he started tying the rope around her sock covered wrists. her arms was crossed and the rope went in a square pattern around them. after a while Björnulf wrapped the rope between her arms instead and finished with a tight knot.
«now, how do we get the rope over that branch?» Björnulf said as he studied the tree.
«WHYE» Leifling said as he lifted Björnulf up.
«Leiling, what are you…» before he knew it Leifling threw Björnulf upward and over the branch «…
doiiii
iiiiing?!» was all they heard from Björnulf as he flew away.
«dude…» Bob said while Leifling was jumping up and down like a maniac with his tongue sticking out.
in the distance they could see Björnulf land in the river.
«who needs cartoons with these guys around?» Emily said.
i didn’t take long before Björnulf came back shaking as he was freezing and dripping wet.
«Leifling you stupid loaf!!!» he shouted at Leifling who was still jumping up and down like a maniac.
while Björnulf was yelling at him Leifling was bouncing toward Emily and grabbed the length of rope that was sticking out from her tied hands gave it to Björnrulf who still yelled at him.
without thinking about it Björnulf held on to the rope and suddenly Lefling lifted him up once more.
«now what!?» Björnulf shouted in frustration and suddenly Leifling threw him away once again over the branch.
Björnulf screamed in a bright tone as he flew across the branch and got dragged down again by the rope so he landed on the other side.
as Björnulf landed he eventually got back up and shouted «Leifling, why aren’t you dead?!»
Leifling pointed up at the Branch indicating that the rope was now across.
«genious» Björnulf responded «but if you do that to me again, i’ll bury your face in the anthill over there».
Bob grabbed the rope and pulled it tight as he tied it to the tree forcing Emily’s arms up above her head.
«great, now i’ll just need to be gagged as well» she said «take that scarf and tie it around my head so it covers up my mouth».
Leifling grabbed the scarf with his tail and started climbing up the rope that was attached to the tree and jumped down from the branch onto Emily’s head. he folded out the scarf in front of her face and jumped down behind her so the scarf covered up her mouth and nose. he managed to tie a knot behind her neck before he went to her front and straightened up the scarf so it would look similar to the OTM gag detective Kathleen had in the magazine.
«alright, the gag is complete» Björnulf said as he and Bob studied the captive while Leifling jumped down again.
«pheet, phif if afome» Emily said «hey, i can phill phalk» she said shocked.
«that’s weird» you are gagged just like on the picture» Björnulf responded.
«yup…» Bob followed up with.
«iph geffs muffled, buf i can pfil comunicaphe. daph is weird» Emily kept saying. oh well, she should try to see if she could break free this time without any help.
«oh well, i guess we just sit by and wait for you to either get free then or for the alarm to go off» Björnulf said as he sat down in the grass.
the alarm? oh no, Emily realized that she had forgotten to prepare the alarm! how would they know the time now?
she kept struggling against her bounds, but it was really tight. once more she found herself in a situation where she was completely unable to free herself.
Emily kept thinking for herself what the heck had she gotten herself into now?
«i forphot the affarm» she said through her gag.
the trolls looked at her in a funny way not quite understanding what she said.
«i forphot to thufn on the affarm» Emily said.
«well the gag didn’t silence you, but it sure is hard to understand what you are saying» Björnulf said.
Emily didn’t know what to do. she were unable to escape, the trolls wouldn’t know when to free her and they didn’t understand what she said so she couldn’t tell them to free her either.
she almost got to the point where she just wanted to sit down and cry.
no, she had to remain calm. when they first tied her up it was still several hours before she had to be back at uncle Fred’s cabin. it was to early to just give up!
maybe she could find a way to remove the gag somehow. but how?
Emily looked around herself to study her situation a little closer. her arms was tied up over her head to thick branch. she was not able to pull her arms down and remove the gag.
but then it finally got to her, she had an idea.
Emily started rubbing her face against her left shoulder blade, hopefully she could rub the gag off her face and then she could tell the trolls to untie her.
suddenly Emily felt the ability to breath properly with her mouth once more «yes! i made it!» she shouted.
«hey, you got the gag off» Björnulf said.
Leifling started clapping his hands while he laughed hysterically.
«i tried to tell you that i forgot to turn on the alarm» Emily said relieved «now i want to see if i can free myself, but if it get’s to hard you will have to free me».
she went back to focusing on the rope once more. she tried to pull it as much as she could, but to no use.
«darn… this is impossible!» she said.
«there is no way you can just drag the rope off, you will have to open the knot that goes around the trunk of the tree first. that way you will loosen up the rope holding your arms up and then you can focus on your wrists» Björnulf said.
Emily looked over at the tree and noticed the rope going around it. he was right, all Emily had to do was to find a way to open the knot at the trunk.
«okay, how do i do this then?» she said «i can’t use my arms since they are stuck above me…»
she looked down on the ground and felt the grass between her bare feet. she still had not put her shoes or socks back on after she was in the river picking stones for the trolls.
«maybe if i…» she said and then tried to stretch one foot out toward the tree trunk.
reaching the rope was not a problem at all, if she could find a way to use her toes then maybe she could open the knot?
Emily had always been a stubborn girl and for the moment she forgot all about time and decided that she would get out of this by her self NO MATTER WHAT.
she kept picking the knot by the tree trunk with her toes for several minutes «how do i open this knot anyway?» she said.
«if you push that loose end toward the rope it should open the main knot».
Emily stared at the knot and then tried to wrinkle the loose rope between her toes and push it against the knot.
«it works!» she shouted «it’s loosening!»
she kept pushing the loose end of the rope with her toes and suddenly she opened the first part of it.
she kept up with this progress for the other two rounds and suddenly the knot was open she could feel the rope loosening up as well.
«yes!» she said as she pulled her arms down and dragged the rope with her.
she used her teeth next to untie her wrists and finally she made it.
«i’m free!!!» she shouted as she sat down on the grass with a big smile.
the trolls applauded her, bob with slow clapping hands, Björnulf with faster clapping hands and Leifling jumping up and down with his fists in the air as he was making his weird noises.
Emily pulled of the socks on her arms and suddenly said «oh no…»
«what? what is it?» Björnulf said.
«look» Emily said as she held up her arms. they were still soar, even with the socks over she still had some huge rope marks covering her wrists.
«how do i hide this from my uncle?» she looked at her phone and noticed that she still had another hour and 40 minutes until dinner.
«i have to come up with a plan fast for how i can avoid uncle seeing this» she said as she grabbed her socks and shoes that she pulled back on her feet.
«well, if we are done i guess we have to go back to our cave and look after the rope production» Björnulf said.
«yeah, sure» Emily answered «i guess i’ll see you guys later».
«good-bye»
«bye…»
«RALALALA!» she heard the trolls say as they waved good bye and headed back to the cave.
«now… how do i hide these rope marks when i get back to the cabin?» Emily said and looked at the river.
she placed her backpack down on the ground and took a deep breath before she took a step into the water. «oh my gosh, that’s cold» she whispered «alright here i go».
she quickly sat down on her butt and laid back before she quickly got back up.
«ahh! cold, cold, cold» she said as she started running back up and grabbed her backpack.
her brown hair was dripping wet as her clothes as she walked back to the cabin.
«uncle Fred?» she said as she opened the door to the cabin. inside she could hear some music playing on the stereo.
«yes?» uncle Fred answered.
«can you get me a towel? i felled in the river and i’m soaking wet» she said as she just popped her head in through the door.
«you what? are you alright?» he answered quickly.
«i’m fine, just wet».
«yeah, you just wait outside and i’ll get a towel for you» he said.
Emily sat down in a chair outside the front door and held her backpack in front of her to cover up her arms.
«here you go Emily» uncle Fred said as he threw a towel into her lap.
«thanks» she said «you just go back inside and do whatever you were doing, i’m going to dry off here so you don’t have to dry off the floor after me».
«if you say so, i’m preparing dinner now so you just dry off and come in when you are ready».
Emily went inside the goats shed and took off her wet clothes and covered up herself with the towel. she noticed that uncle Fred also used the shed for storing tools, keeping them away from the goats of course so they wouldn’t eat them. among the tools she also noticed that there was a lot of ropes and even a few rolls of duct tape.
this gave her an idea for the next time she met the trolls.
as she walked in to the cabin with the towel around her she held her wet clothes over her arms to cover up the rope marks when she walked toward her own room where she changed into the same grey sweater she had used when she arrived so she could cover up her arms. she pulled on the same denim skirt she had been wearing when the trolls tied her up the day before as well and some socks before she got back to her uncle.
she pointed down at her feet and said «look uncle, the red marks on my legs are almost gone now».
uncle Fred put aside the knife he was using to chop vegetables and said «yeah, look at that. i guess that means it was nothing to worry about after all».
«so… how long is it until dinner?»
«about another 30 minutes»
«cool, i’ll just sit down in the coach and read some comics then».
Emily sat down and looked through her detective Kathleen magazines and found one where she was tied up and gagged with duct tape.
she was definitely looking forward to meeting the trolls again tomorrow.
