Hey Everybody
So I was on Youtube yesterday and I came across this vid:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VebOTc-7shU
It's called Fall of the Republic, and its more or less about how the democratic system is being taken over by a small group of elite bankers. I've noticed some discussion of this topic on the board before. Has anybody else seen it? More importantly does anyone here believe it?
Now I will say for the people who made this, they did a good job of being non-partisan (A rare thing in any US publication these days) but the accusations they're making seem... to me at least... rather outlandish. I'm no supporter of either George Bush or Barack Obama, but saying (Quite brazenly) that they were nothing but puppets for wall street executives? Really? Moreover, the evidence they present is thin at best. Yes they present a lot of events (Such as the Kennedy assassination) and string them together in such a way that it could be indicative of a conspiracy, but the actual evidence tying those events together in that way, is almost non-existent.
Now disenchanted as I am with the current political situation in North America right now, I still believe in Democracy and Popular Government, and if the need arose, I would take up arms to defend it. But I'm not convinced that Democracy is under threat.
But I could be wrong. What do you all think?
(By the way, I don't want this thread to become a Left vs Right debate, we have enough of those. This is about Democracy in general)
