A Message to Non-members

Hi
This is a message to non-members. I would like to ask you to answer two simple questions.

1 – Have you ever read a story that you liked on this site?
2 – Would you like to read more?

If the answer to both questions is yes then you should join and become a member.

The people who write these stories do so because they want to share them. All they ask for in return is for a bit of feedback from the readers. It can be as little as a simple thank you. The authors know that people are reading them because of the number of views but they don’t know if anyone likes them because of the lack of comments.

When a story has well over a thousand views and only two or three comments the writer can get discouraged. Right now there are several long time contributors who are very disappointed with the lack of response from the readers. A big part of this is that non-members can’t post.

If you are a non-member there are a few things you should know. First of all is that you are not expected to post stories. If you want to that is great but don’t feel pressured to be creative if it’s not in your nature. If you only want to read that is fine but as a member you can say “I liked that, thank you.”

The second thing to know is that you remain anonymous. For many of us this is a part of our life that we prefer to keep secret. I know from my own experience that it was difficult to join. Rest assured that no one needs to know your name or anything else about you unless you are comfortable with sharing.

Think of a clever user name and a password that you’re not going to forget and that’s all you need to be part of a fantastic site. I was a “guest” for many years and now that I have finally gotten around to joining I don’t regret it. I know you won’t either.

Just one thing was a bit confusing at first for me. The first time you post a comment it kind of disappears. Your first two postings, whether they are stories or comments, are not put up until a moderator reviews them and he decides that you aren’t a nutcase who is going to drag the site down. Once you have been approved it’s clear sailing from there.

I only ask one more thing from you. Be positive in your comments. Not every story is going to be to your liking and some you may actually find offensive. Please keep any negative reactions to yourself and find a story you like. This site is a community of people with a common interest and like all communities you may not like everyone or their offerings but we all need to co-exist if the site is to remain successful.

If you join because of what I have written here today please send me a private message once you figure out how everything works. I too am one of those people who likes a bit of feedback.

Thanks
LordNelson

Hi! I have enjoyed your stories, but I couldn't post before because I'd tried to become a member but missed the connecting e-mail. I tried to contact the moderators but they couldn't or wouldn't help. I joined and can post now but I had to get a second e-mail address.
