It's hard to give general advice just for PG-17 stories, because they can be anything. Scenario for example is a point thats completely up to you. There is no point in anyone telling you "this is a good PG-17 scenario" - you might like it or not. It's a taste thing, and hasn't that much to do with the age restriction. The amount of possible scenarios is basically infinite. It's similar for style - good style is independant of age restrictions.
My advice would be to first and foremost write a story that you want to write, without thinking about it in terms of PG-17 or not PG-17. If it fits the criteria for PG-17, put it in the correct section. Additionally, concentrate on writing a good story and only use the adult-oriented stuff if it is useful - don't focus on it just because you want to write PG-17 stuff.
