Lauren left the party through the back entrance. It was getting just a bit too rowdy for her, and Mac had told her to be back at 11.
She walked along the dark alley and shivered. It was cold. She zipped up her jacket to the top and rubbed her hands together.
She turned the corner and began down it. In front of her loomed the Brooklyn Bridge. She crossed it and started walking along the river banks. Even though it was half past ten, there were plenty of people about.
She crossed the street and began up the street Mac’s rented apartment was on. She was passing through a bad area, but this was the only place available. There were broken down shops either side of her. Suddenly..
“LAUREN!†came a shout. She gasped. It had come from inside the CD shop opposite her. It was a girl’s voice. She sounded in trouble.
Lauren hovered for a moment, then her martial arts training kicked in and she walked up to the door.
Easing it open, she peeked in. Row upon row of shelves were in front of her, packed with CDs.
A door at the back she hadn’t noticed before banged shut. She carefully approached it. Behind her, the main door slammed shut and lights flared up. Too late did she realise her mistake.
Two men stood at opposite ends of the room. One raised a gun, and fired.
The teen was unconscious before she hit the ground. The two men approached her. One turned her onto her back with his foot. Satisfied, they knelt down, placing her on her back once more. Several feet of rope appeared and the man carefully wound it around Lauren’s hands behind her back. The second man was busy doing the same to her ankles.
Then, the first man produced two pieces of black cloth. He put one over Lauren’s eyes and the second, he knotted it in the middle and placed it behind her teeth, before tying it behind her head. Then the two men picked the unconscious girl up and took her into the back room and out a side door. A van was waiting. There was a small wooden crate open, ready to be loaded into the back. The two men put Lauren inside and closed the lid. Then the box was lifted into the van and driven away.
The whole thing had taken less then 3 minutes.
