Sherry Rathbone IV: Sherry and Her Kidnapper

Postby gagged-cowboy » Sat Mar 26, 2011 5:08 am

After a very long time I wrote another story about teenage detective Sherry Rathbone. I hope you will enjoy it :-)

Sherry and the Kidnapper
Sherry Rathbone woke up only to find herself sitting on the chair. Her hands were tied behind her back and her ankles were tied as well. She was surprised to find out that she was not gagged and she was not tied to that chair either.
She tried to remember how she got into this mess.

It all started three days ago. The whole town was amazed by the news that Mr. Kane, the citizen of Bakersfield, won 10 000 000 dollars in the National Lottery. The very same day in the evening the other news shook the calm waters of life in this small town. Mr. Kane’s daughter Kate, Sherry’s schoolmate was kidnapped. The kidnapper wanted to change the girl for the money that Mr. Kane won.
Sherry took the chance to solve another interesting mystery almost immediately. After police left Kane’s apartment she visited him and persuaded him to show her the tape which the kidnapper send him and which the incompetent policemen forgot to examine for more clues and simply forgot at his place.
The unfortunate father, who was willing to do everything to save his daughter, was aware of Sherry’s investigative skills and agreed thinking Sherry could be able to help him more than police could.
Sherry was watching the tape over and over. At first there was nothing peculiar about it. Crying raven-haired Kate with her mouth taped and the masked kidnapper pointing his gun to her head demanding all the money Mr. Kane won in exchange for the girl’s life. But then after the tenth or eleventh viewing it struck her. She recognized the tattoo on the kidnapper’s left hand – the black shadow of the Statue of Liberty wrapped by two green snakes.
“Thank you very much Mr. Kane. I’ve got what I needed.”
“Please help her.”
Sherry looked into the desperate man’s eyes and said only two words: “I will.” and then she left.
The tattoo belonged to the Bakersfield’s notorious hoodlum and gambler Jerry Stewart. Sherry was spending a lot of time, in various disguises, in the bars of dubious reputation where all the scum of the town was meeting and she was watching them trying to remember their faces and specific features. Her best friend Lucy often criticized her for doing it. But everything Sherry did had its purpose no matter how dangerous it was and now it proved useful again.
She called the police and announced her discovery but the response was even more stupid than she expected: “Miss Rathbone we cannot arrest somebody only because of his tattoo. Next time mind your own business and don’t meddle in our investigation.”
“Okay, it’s time Sherry saves the day again.” said Sherry to herself after she hung up.

One hour later she was breaking into Stewart’s apartment. The head of the house was not home. Only his helpless captive was sitting there bound and gagged on the chair. Sherry untied her immediately and peeled the tape off her mouth.
“Oh Sherry, how did you find me?”
“That’s a long story. We gotta get out of here. Hurry.”
Sherry took Kate’s hand and together they escaped from the apartment. Outside the building they ran into Jerry Stewart himself.
“Hey, where are you going?” he shouted.
“Run!!!” Sherry shouted at Kate and both girls started to sprint as fast as they could.
“Wait! Get back. I need that money. I won’t hurt you. I swear. Please come back.” The kidnapper was following them. The chase was going on for several minutes and even though the kidnapper seemed quite stupid he certainly did not look like he was willing to give up. The girls started to lose their breath when finally they run into the policeman who was on his patrol.
“Please, help us. That man is after us.” shouted Sherry and lawman did not hesitate for a second and ran towards Jerry Stewart.
When the kidnapper saw what has just happened he stopped and then turned and ran away.
After several minutes the breathless policeman returned.
“Sorry ladies, I could not catch him. He must have hidden somewhere. But tell me what happened.”
Sherry told policeman the whole story and he took them to the station where the ashamed cops were forced to call Mr. Kane to pick up his daughter. Sherry never saw a happier reunion.
“Okay Miss Rathbone. You were lucky this time. But we warn you, don’t meddle in the police investigation in the future.” said one of the detectives to Sherry as she was leaving.
“Simple thank you would be enough, mister.” replied our girl detective ironically and left.

Two days later Sherry was on her way from school when suddenly the black van stopped next to her and the next thing she knew she was staring into the barrel of the gun. She also recognized the stupid face with the cruel smile that belonged to the gun. Of course it was our unlucky kidnapper Jerry Stewart.
“Well little lady whatever your name is if you don’t wanna end up with a bullet in your head I advise you to get in the car and be quiet.”
Sherry saw she had no other choice. There was nobody on the street and she was sure this time she would not be able to get away, not from the bullet.
“Okay, I see. Revenge, isn’t it Jerry? May I call you Jerry?” said Sherry and tried not to express any fear. “My name is Sherry, I guess it rhymes Jerry and Sherry ...”
“Shut up and get into the van.” shouted villain.
“Okay, I was just trying to break the ice. You know, it is quite important to have a good relationship with a kidnap...mmmmmmphhh.”
The white cloth soaked in chloroform silenced her. Sherry started to struggle but there was no use. She started to lose control over herself and finally got knocked out.

Now Sherry was sitting tied up on the chair, waiting what happens next. She knew she should be afraid but this villain was simply impossible, almost funny. “At first he does not even bother to hide his unique tattoo and then he is chasing his escaped captive with the words: ‘Please come back.’ and now he does not even gag me. What a loser.” Sherry was almost amazed what ideas were going through her head. She could die any minute but instead of struggling and screaming for help she was only making fun of her dumb kidnapper.
Speak of the devil and he doth appear. Jerry Stewart entered the room where Sherry was held captive.
“So, Sherry, are you enjoying your predicament?” said Jerry with a cruel smile.
“Yes, actually I am.” Sherry decided to play sweet and innocent girl. “The ropes could have been little tighter but otherwise I am fine. Being tied up is the best exercise. It stretches your muscles and everything. Did you know that people who are often tied up live longer than those who aren’t? Anyway thank you for your concern.”
The kidnapper apparently lost his balance for a while.
“Do you understand what has just happened? You have been kidnapped.”
“Really? Oh man, you don’t have to tell me that. I have been kidnapped so many times that I know the difference between being kidnapped and playing the volleyball on the beach. But thanks for reminding me.” She had to bite her lips not to smile. The expression of Jerry Stewart was priceless. She has not been so amused since she first saw The Duck Soup by the Marx Brothers.
“I lost 10 000 000 dollars because of you. I really needed that money. Now I want my revenge.”
“Cool.”
The villain started to be hysterical. “Hey are you listening to me? I am planning to kill you.”
“Oh, that’s interesting. And what are you going to do to me? Will you tie me to the railroad tracks? Or will you hide me inside a nuclear warhead and shoot me to the North Korea? Or maybe you could just leave me here with a bomb. I have been trough all of this. Actually I have been kidnapped and put to some kind of death trap so many times that you might even call me The Professional Damsel in Distress.”
“Are you kidding me, lady?”
“No, why should I?”
“Okay, I’ve had enough.” shouted Jerry. “I am leaving you here for the night and tomorrow you will meet your maker.”
“So you will return me to my father? That’s so sweet of you.”
“I don’t have to listen to this.” said Jerry and turned away.
“Wait! You forgot something.”
“What?”
“You forgot to gag me. I can scream for the whole night.”
“Nobody’s gonna hear you, sweet.”
“Wanna bet?” asked Sherry with a flirtatious smile and the room was suddenly filled with the loudest shriek she was able to produce.
“Okay stupid, I don’t know what your game is but I don’t care. You will get what you want.” said the villain and untied Sherry’s bandanna from her neck tied it over her mouth.
“He is the real loser,” Sherry thought to herself. “Villains are not what they used to be.” She shook the scarf off her mouth within a second.
“Nice try but this won’t work. There is a clean handkerchief in the pocket of my flannel shirt. Stuff it into my mouth and then tie the knot in the middle of my bandanna, put it between my lips and tie it behind my head.”
Jerry looked really confused. His captive, who was supposed to be scared to death, was making fun of him and instructing him to gag her. But it did not matter. He was tired of her and so he did as she said and several moments later Sherry was tightly gagged.
“Are you happy now, miss?”
Sherry shook her head yes and tried to blow him a kiss with her silenced lips.
“Okay, I am going out now to arrange something important. Then I will come back, get some sleep and in the morning I will deal with you. Enjoy your last night.”
The door closed behind him with a terrible loud bang. He must have been really upset. Sherry lost her control and started to laugh through her gag.
“Okay, that was fun and now it’s time to get to work.”
She got up from the chair and with her feet bound she started to hop over the room. During this action the rope tied around her ankles got loose and slipped down.
“He really is the loser. I am sure he was expelled from the boy-scouts.” thought Sherry while walking through the apartment looking for something useful to set herself free. Unfortunately the room was empty. There was nothing but a bed and a chair on which Sherry was sitting a while ago. She left her “cell” and continued her voyage to the apartment’s hallway.
The hallway was empty as well and Sherry entered the kitchen. There she found everything she needed. There was a bottle of chloroform, which was used on her earlier, on the table and right next to it a knife was stabbed in the large leaf of bread.
“It looks like he wanted me to get free.” Sherry thought to herself and moaned with delight into her gag.
With her tied hands she pulled the knife out of the bread and after several minutes she cut the ropes binding her wrists.
Still with the gag in her mouth she ran back to the hallway and tried the door. But as she expected they were locked. She returned to the kitchen and looked out of the window. Ten or nine stores could have been underneath her. The villain must have taken her cell-phone because she did not see it either in the kitchen or in her former prison. The only thing Sherry could do was to wait for her kidnapper. But she decided not to take any chance.
She grabbed the chloroform and the knife and headed back to the bedroom where she was imprisoned earlier.
She poured the content of the bottle on the villain’s bed pillow and hoped her captor would be so drunk (what else could he do during the night?) that he won’t smell anything. Now she could only wait.

Sherry was sitting in the chair for four or five hours. She lost the track of time. The gag was still in her mouth. Her hands were behind her back untied and she was holding the knife in case he was not so drunk and got any funny ideas about Sherry or anything went wrong with the chloroform. A piece of rope that previously fell from her legs was now very loosely wrapped around her ankles so that the villain could not suspect anything.
It must have been long after midnight when he returned. He was drunk for sure. The odour of alcohol could have been smelled all the way from the hall.
“Hi babe.” he muttered, did not even turn the lights on and fell right on the bed completely exhausted.
Everything went according to plan. In several minutes he was asleep and when Sherry heard loud snoring she decided to act. She got up from the chair, untied the rope from her ankles and tied villain’s hands behind his back. He did not wake up.
After that Sherry dragged him out of the bed and seated him into the chair. She certainly did not want him to inhale the chloroform all night. Then Sherry finally took off her gag.
She went to the kitchen and there she drank water directly from the water tap. Her chin and chest were all wet but she did not care. She grabbed a roll of duct tape which she found earlier in one of the drawers and returned back to the bedroom. Her prisoner was still sleeping and snoring. Sherry tied his legs with the duct tape and wrapped another piece over his already bound wrists only to make sure he won’t escape.
Then she decided it is time to leave and notify the authorities. The door was locked but the key was in the keyhole and so nothing stood in her way to freedom.

Jerry Stewart was arrested later that night. The other day Kate Kane identified him as her kidnapper and now he is sitting in his nice little cell and serving a long term for double-kidnapping.
