Have you ever brought bondage gear on vacation?

Postby Nexus » Sun Jan 01, 2017 1:07 am

I've been fantasizing about mine and the wife's next vacation to a tropical destination and it got me thinking. Would airport security frown upon a bag full of ropes? Perhaps some other bondage toys that could be mistaken for torture devices?

I figured I would have the wife pack a few robes with belts to use for tying. A few pairs of pantyhose too.

Have any of you brought bondage gear on vacation?

If you have to fly, I'd recommend getting your supplies at your destination. Personally, I'd use expendable things: cheap and you can throw it away afterwards if you wanted to. I cannot recommend self-adhesive bandages enough. They're very versatile and potentially one of the least obvious binding tools there are.

It really depends on the policy to be honest. I don't think they'd bat an eye on light equipment.

I have, but not since 9/11. I did a search on US TSA rules. Apparently, though you may cause some snickering at the checkpoint, you can even bring handcuffs in carry-on baggage. Nonetheless, I would put all your gear in checked baggage.

I have gear every vacation that I go on. They do allow most things in the cabin and pretty much anything in the hold. All my gear goes in the hold to save frustration and cost. You may check here https://apps.tsa.dhs.gov/mytsa/cib_home.aspx (for the US anyways, I don't know if the TSA rules apply to every country).

I wouldn't recommend bringing anything you'd be sad to lose so keep expensive things at home. I've never had any trouble myself but I don't want the TSA deciding something isn't allowed and taking it. They x-ray everything (cabin and hold luggage and your person) so don't try to hide anything. If you are unlucky (like I was once) they will hand search luggage (like at border zones) and you just tell them the gear is for sexy time and they are good. They see all kinds of weird things, you wouldn't be the first :P

Airport security won't care as long as you keep the quantity to a normal amount (you won't hijack with one pair of fuzzy handcuffs) but border agents are a different matter. Some countries have weird customs policies and ban "obscene material" leaving the definition of obscene to the agent.

They will raise eyes if they see stuff like ball gags or cuffs. Don't keep it in your carry bag

Why waste money buying things you already have. Lots of people take bring bondage and sex toys with them. I took some on a flight then a cruise ship. Also some tropical places may not be all that safe to leave the resort in search for bondage gear. To avoid having half the airport see your stuff put them in checked bags. But as far as cuffs ropes gags they are legal. Hell I've been on planes and checked guns (unloaded and declared in locked case). To sum up my post is most anything that is not illegal or goes boom is fair game in checked baggage.
