Hi. I'm new here. Does anyone have any tips for me on how to be successful? (This is my first post)

Successful?
I'm not sure what you're asking, but I'm quite certain your personal financial adviser would be in a better position to advise you on how to be successful :worried:

Of course, I know you're not talking about "successful" as in being "successful in life."
This brings me to my first tip: Be clear when writing posts or asking questions :o
We can't guess your meanings or intentions over the internet.

Let's play "College Professor".

DEFINE YOUR TERMS.

You mean be successful in kidnapping someone?

Tying them up?

Establishing trust?

Setting up safety rules and phrases?

You gotta give us more to work with than what you're giving us.

Hi, Hayley. You have 'successfully' elicited responses to your nebulous comment. That is a measure of success <groan>. It is nice to see you post on your first day as a member. Too many people sign up and don't comment at all. There are some really interesting, intelligent and, given the chance, helpful members contributing to this forum. Welcome to the forum! The more you put into it the more you will enjoy it.

Sorry there appears to be some misunderstanding, i mean successful on this website, as in good stories and all that.

Well, honestly admitting to a mistake (such as your vague wording in your first post) is a good start.
Having a good sense of humor about it will help too. :D
As for your stories, just write what you like best to write about; those will likely be your best ones.
Welcome to the site; i hope you like it here despite the initial bit of confusion..

Your question is very vague...especially considering that we don't know what you mean by being "successful".

My advice to you would be to have fun and enjoy the site.
Don't worry about "success". Just have fun! :quirk:
Read stories and write some when you feel inspired to do so.
Everything else will fall in line.

Hi and welcome,
There is some sound advice here. Here's my twopennorth.
Write, read, edit, leave it.
Read it, edit it, leave it.
Read it again and then you might be ready to post.
It's useful to have someone to help with the typos and unclear expressions because it's almost impossible to trap them for yourself. However, not many of us have the luxury of a proof-reader unless we ask a friend from here to help.
Good luck and, as has been said above, enjoy yourself.

To be successful here is to just either write great stories(true or fiction) or comment on stories and participate.

To be successful, be yourself. Talk about what you know, and what you have experienced. If you talk about things you don't know, or have not experienced, it's going to show, and you'll look foolish, or worse. (Unless it's fiction, and clearly labeled as fiction.)

Don't be afraid to ask questions, even if you think the question is stupid. My experience has been that the only stupid question, is the one that isn't asked.

If you're going to write fiction, put it in the appropriate forum. Don't write something fictional, and put it under "true stories." However, it is possible to get away with putting a true story under fiction.

Don't be put off by criticism. Most writers crave feedback, even critical feedback. It helps them to improve their skills, provided it's presented in a constructive manner.

But the biggest thing, is the first thing I mentioned. Be yourself. Make no apologies for who and what you are, and never explain anything. Your friends don't need it, and your enemies won't believe it.

Be passionate. Write about what you love. Re-read before you post.

You have some great advice from some of the best on the site. follow it and you'll be off to a most enjoyable start.
Before you post however, turn off all the lights in your room and any sound (tv, radio, screaming little brother, etc).
Get naked and close to the screen.
Open the window wide.
Lightly tie yourself to the chair.
Put on sunglasses.
Put on a gag.

Keep your sense of humor (grin)

Welcome aboard.

nobody else will figure out you're faking it.

Well, I'm not good at fiction stories, but I might have gotten a little better than when I started. I cheat a little, because I have the end worked out first, and aim in that direction from the beginning.

Maybe one of the best way to learn to write good stories is just to write stories. I think that this is a misquote of an actual author.

After all the comments you received about being specific and the importance of doing so, it was awfully nice of Chloe' to give you a demonstration of the problems with vagueness.
Just follow the advice you received above and you'll do great.
glad to have you on board.

Is that meant to be a dig at what you perceive as false modesty on Skybird's part, or an assertion that there has been no improvement at all?
Initially I assumed the first interpretation (as i prefer to always take the kindest interpretation of a statement possible until further evidence comes in), but it does occur to me that this statement IS kind of vague. :worried:

That's more clear. Thanks. Glad my original, more complimentary interpretation was the correct one - though perhaps i chose the wrong words myself when i mentioned accusations of false modesty.

Perhaps, but I consider myself more successful if I get more feedback for my posts. Views really mean nothing; you can't tell by your views number how many read your story carefully and how many merely glanced at it out of idle curiosity, now many liked it or hated it, and so on. Views also require no personal commitment. Feedback however (even when uncomplimentary) does and as such i treasure one comment (even one of only a few words) more than I do several hundred views; unless it's directly offensive in some manner.
By which criterion Hayleytiedup is off to a good start with this simple thread alone!

If you want to be succesful on this site, just write about people getting tied up and gagged, as people come here to read stories about just that. Of course, people are so varied in preferences that you can't be popular with everyone on the site, so try to appeal to your own preferences. I myself am into tied up girls (guys tied up is a turn off for me), especially if she wears an outfit that leaves her midriff bare (or no outdit at all, since her navel is exposed either way), so if you write a story about that, I'll certainly like it, and may even comment.
