Obama Nasa plans 'catastrophic' say Moon astronauts

While I believe that going to the moon is a great accomplishment we have been there and done that. Also it is very expensive to get a man to the moon and back and I think that money could be better put to use. I feel sorry for the astronauts who will not not have the opportunity to go up there but overall I don't think it is a bad thing.

Until the planet is in order, and so is our society on it, we still have far too much to do to be distracted by things like flying to the moon to pick up some vaguely interesting research materials. Just my two bits.

I support the space program in general, and I don't think that anyone disputes that landing on the moon was a great and necessary achievement. That being, said, space flight costs money, (Forgive the pun) astronomical amounts of money. And in the present economic situation that the US and the rest of the world is in, we simply can't afford it. Especially considering Obama has gone the Keynesian route to try and fix the economy (Hence the, thus far, useless bailouts).

When the economy bounces back, as it always does, we can start investing in the space program again and carry on with exploring.
There's a permanent tension in music isn't there? On one hand you have three chords, you know, four four and three chords. Then there's the people like me, who say "Well, why don't we add a fourth chord and put it in five four?" - Bill Bruford
