Hardest material to escape from?

Postby Jay Feely » Wed Apr 03, 2013 5:08 pm

What material would be harder to escape from if you tie up someone with that material?
You will have to subdue me to restrain me. I been a bad boy so make sure you torture me too with anything but pain.

1. Metal--like hand and leg cuffs, collars, with chains;
2, Duct tape--as in a mummification; very hard to escape from without a knife or blade;
3. Rope--my favorite, if done well. Takes lots of practice but I am always open to roping you anytime.

All the things Jack listed can be quite difficult to escape from if tied effectively. Gorilla Tape, I think would be a much more effective alternative to Duct tape.

Never heard of Gorilla tape, what is that, what it's usually used for, and what makes it strong to bind someone?

I hadn't heard of it till someone mentioned it to me last year or the year before. Apparently its the strongest tape you can find and is very hard to remove.

I personally believe the hardest material to escape from is gorilla tape. I was hogtied with it once by my cousin and I couldn't even gain an inch of slack for the whole hour I was tied up. This was only 3 layers of tape too, so it's extremely strong. I would recommend anyone to be tied up in it; though if it is to go on top of clothing, wear clothing you don't mind cutting up if the need arises. We had to cut some of my clothes up in order to get the tape off, but it was so worth it!

Agreed. If I am handcuffed or chained, I cannot escape. Ropes---sometimes. Depends on how well I am tied. Fun to try, so I prefer ropes to metal.

Sleep sacks are a pain when it comes down to escaping, unless they aren't zipped up...

How about a vacuum bed/vacuum cube?

I would assume that that would be completely impossible if the vacuum were to be left on. Only way out I could envision would be having a very sharp blade in your hand when the air is evacuated...

Unless you know how to pick a lock and actually have something to pick a lock within reach, handcuffs and shackles are pretty hard to get out of. Someone who knows what they're doing can pick them pretty quickly though.

I'm actually trying to teach myself to pick locks. It'd take a ton of practice, but picking handcuffs in a few seconds is not unimaginable. It'd take me a pretty long time though...

I can pick handcuff locks in a second or two if I have a ready made bobby pin lock pick, making a lock pick out of a bobby pin takes around 20 seconds if you know how.

I've seen a few videos on Youtube and know if you know what you're doing you can escape from handcuffs pretty quickly. But most people don't so they would be very difficult for the average person to escape from.

Duct tape can also be hard to escape from, unless you can break it, and then it's not much of a challenge either. Zip ties are a more extreme example, though they can be broken with a little trickery as well.

That won't work with the hinge-type handcuffs if they are put on with the keyholes facing away from the fingers.
