Dateline Duct Tape Escape

For those of you in the US, Dateline on November 28 is actually going to show you how to escape from duct tape. Obviously this is more about practical uses to escape in serious situations. If that's not your thing, you can at least see a rarity on TV, a reporter (Andrea Canning) getting wrapped in duct tape.

I have no idea if the segment will include more than this video.

This is a pretty awesome video, though it doesn't look like there was much else included. A short news blurb mentioned one of my big concerns; what do we do if they tape our hands behind our backs?

But if you’re duct taped with arms behind you, NBC offers no answers. So just hope your next kidnapper is courteous enough to tie you up from the front.

interesting, but in all honesty I would certainly tie up a victim much more thoroughly than just their hands in front although people who simply watch television dramas might delusionally believe that would keep their victim helpless.

I think the point of the video is probably to show people it's not that difficult to get out of. I did see this posted on their Facebook page and somebody asked about hands taped behind and they said it's the same technique more or less. I've done that and there are videos of it on Youtube.

^The same technique? I don't think so... We should request Andrea Canning to do a behind-the-back instructional, and maybe even include something on how to remove a gag to call for help.

Unless you are fairly flexible using a similar technique on the back seems like it would be difficult.
