Football. It is probably listed there as 'soccer', but the correct name is football.

Re: What's your favorite sport?

Actually it's Soccer in the U.S. and Canada and it's Football in the rest of the world. Outside of North America NFL and CFL Football is known as American Football. I see the NFL St. Louis Rams are going to play a game in each of the next three seasons at London's Wembley Stadium. This is a possible prelude to London being awarded an NFL team. London may also possibly host a Super Bowl one of these years.

That'll be interesting.
I don't believe the Wembly stadium exists any more.

Let's put "native" American "sports" in context. How may countries are involved in the "World Series"?

Cricket vs. baseball:

Hi xtc, I thought Wembley Stadium was rebuilt on its site, kinda like Yankee Stadium was rebuilt in the mid 70s. In 2009 the Bronx Bombers moved into a new Yankee Stadium across the street. Anyway the Tampa Bay Buccaneers played 3 games @ Wembley in the last 3 years. Next time I'm in London, I'll have to take the guided tour like I did at the old Wembley in the 90s.

BTW you're right about the World Series, the answer is 2. If you make it to the Colonies between April and September, I hope you catch an MLB Game or two. There are 30 venues here, but try to make it to Fenway Park in Boston (Red Sox) or Wrigley Field in Chicago (Cubs). There's also Spring Training games in March, the Grapefruit League in Florida, and the Cactus League in Arizona. All baseball fans should make a pilgrimage to Fenway and Wrigley at least once in his or her life. Just don't drive there, parking is nonexistent. Take Mass Transit, the "T" to Fenway, the "L" to Wrigley. Cheers, T.T.

Two if going by teams, dozens if going by where the players are from.

I would've voted basketball but I hate the NBA. College is so much better. Can't beat march madness. Could probably start another thread about favorite college teams!

Yes I play sports. Too bad couldn't pick more then three though. Bowling is fun if you are a leftie who does it entirely right handed. I do not even pick up my bowling ball with both hands ever.
From whence I came and whence I went heaven said I was too evil and sent me to hell. Demons and devils succeeded in breaking my soul.

Up'd it to five, and added skiing.

I agrree with Viking: bi-athletes have to develop tremendous control over their bodies. Imagine going from extreme exertion to as near stasis as possible before taking your shot. I wonder why such events are not olympic sports when compared with rhythmic gymnasics or drowning to music. OOPS, do my prejudices show?

Seriously though, I propose the following:
Find a small ground (preferably flat, but the next stipulation takes precedence)
It has to be near a pub.

Play a game where most of the batting team can pay frequent visits to said pub until their team-mates get thirsty.
I think I know what game they could play.

By the way: Westward Ho (sic) is the best such gound.

Sorry, TT, can't reply in the way your post warrants at the minute.
Love the second quote from Sarobah. It's a ggod job that I've got a few tablets left.

Sorry Kyle, I had to delete softball and add it to baseball to make room for skiing. My greatest apoligies to those who have had their votes accidentally altered.

A lot of macho Australians think the same way.
Of course, when they have kids, they want them to play soccer.

The Super Bowl averages 111 million TV viewers, mainly in North America. The FIFA World Cup (although it's once every 4 years) averages 715 million viewers worldwide.

Super Bowl Sunday is pretty much a de facto national holiday in the US and Canada. Bars and restaurants are packed and people flock to the supermarkets to stock up for a Super Bowl party. The NFL has copyrighted the term Super Bowl, so the ads will tell you to stock up on food or buy a big screen TV for "The Big Game."

It costs several million dollars to run a 30 second commercial / advert on "The Big Game" so those ads are usually something special. Some of the 111 million viewers don't give a hoot about the game, especially those whose favorite team isn't playing (In 2012 it's New York vs. New England) but they do stayed glued to the tube for the ads.

good to see that somebody agrees with me. ski-biathlon is a sport that takes a lot of strength, stamina and focus. you need just as much brain as you need muscles.

same goes for ski jumping. you got to keep your head cold to take these jumps.
i mean look at this guy for an instance.
