My Prayer/Warning

Now I lay me down to sleep.
Beside my bed, a Glock I keep.
If I wake uo, and you're inside,
The coroner's van is your next ride.

Is there a point to this besides the obvious one of home defense?
No one disputes the right of a person defending his home against intruders. But a lot of the shootings in the news lately has nothing to do with home or self defense and everything to do with shooting first and asking questions later.

Funny, this story (below) happened at the same time as Drawscore's "warning." I wonder how he would react in this situation.

Houston area father kills boy he found in daughter's bedroom

By Kathryn Yglecias, Senior Web Producer -

Homicide investigators are gathering evidence after a father shoots and kills a teenage boy he found in his daughter's bedroom.

A spokesperson for the Harris County Sheriff's office said Deputy constables from pct 4 responded to a 911 call around 2:20 a.m. about a shooting in the Bridgestone Lake Subdivision in Northwest Harris County.

Police tell FOX 26 reporter John Donnelly that the father was notified that there was someone in his daughter's bedroom by one of his other children.

The father then went into the girl's bedroom and discovered the 17 year old male in bed with his 16 year old daughter. The daughter denied knowing who the boy was.

A confrontation between the father and boy started. The boy apparently wasn't listening to the father's commands and reached for something. It ended with 17 year old being shot and killed at the scene.

The 16 year old girl later admitted to investigators that she did know the boy and had let him into the home.

The father was taken by ambulance from the home for treatment of an unrelated medical situation.

So far no arrests have been made.

More likely the father broke into the room and shot the boy dead before finding out what the situation was. The whole story sounds like a half-baked soap opera tale.

Well, according to the news reports the father confronted the boy about his being there. Supposedly at least the boy was argumentative about it. Of course, that could be a made-up detail to save face (just as the daughter tried to do lying about whether or not she knew the guy), as it is hard to imagine anyone with any sense (even a horny teenaged boy) being anything but really embarrassed or apologetic (if not too frightened to be argumentative) under such circumstances even if he didn't know daddy had a gun (hard to see how he could have missed noticing that however).
Only time will time. Tragic all around.
