Like it or not, people have changes of heart and mind. Sometimes it hurts; sometimes, it's a relief that the relationship has ended. In short, people are assholes. Move on, don't look back, and if you want unconditional friendship and loyalty, go to the local animal shelter and get a dog.

Yeah, that's harsh, and I know it. Unfortunately, it's also accurate, and there are times when you are sad or low, that the truth is brutal. It's a situation with which you will have to cope, and you can do it by either gnashing your teeth; being unpleasant, and calling your (ex) friend 47 different kinds of a ring-tailed SOB, or looking for new friends and challenges. Remember, if you love something, let it go. If it comes back, hey, great. If it doesn't, hunt it down, and when you find it, stomp the crap out of it.

Hey, I never said I was tactful. I'm just rude, crude, lewd and socially unacceptable.

That's the wonderful thing about being within a few months of retirement. I can be rude and obnoxious, and be brutally blunt and honest, and it doesn't matter. They've got to let me stay to retirement, and when it comes, so will the checks. Every month, just like clockwork.
