regrouping with the scouts (MMMMMMMMMMMMMM/M)

okey, it's been a long while since i shared a story by now and i have a perfectly good excuse why...
...i've been too lazy and havent cared to write that mutch lately.
well alright i also have been busy watching the nordic world ski championship that have been the last couple of weeks (8 golden medals and a new world record, WOHO).

now, i also took a while before i figured out what story to do next and decided for one i almost had forgotten that i even had. this happened at a scout meeting when i was about 12 years old.
i been a scout for almost 14 years now and still am today. i started in the youngest group when i was 7 and quit because a friend of me did too and didn't want to keep it up without him there aswell.
when i was 10 i came back and gave it another shot but i quited once again when i felt a little bullied with.
i got back again when i was 12 and have been a scout ever since.

this story is from when i got back again the third time. i remember it as if it was yesterday that i walked down the stairs to the basement of the building next to the church, it was a cold day in september and snowing outside. the first one i saw as i walked in with BÃ¥rd (my best friend back then) was the scout leader Knut who had been the scout leader for me earlier as well as for both my brothers when they attended.
"well, what a nice surprise" he said with a friendly voice as he scratched his beard "you want to join us again?"
"i'll give it a shot" i said as i shooked my shoulders.
there was a couple of new faces and some i could remember from before. even some kids at my school i didn't know was in the scouts at all.

the boys would have a first aid guide down in the basement, meanwhile the girls would do something different upstairs (like making green waffles for the boys).
having some medicinal skills could always be usefull in the woods so i say this was a basic we needed to go trough considering the international camp next summer. we learned to threat a cut and some about CPR, but the interesting part was how to carry someone trough the wilderness if they where badly hurt.
for this we needed a couple of logs and a lot of ropes.
it was complicated but effective as we tied the logs together with a thin white rope. in the end the logs would be shaped in a rectangular square, and now we had to fill in between the logs to make somewhere to lay our patient. doing that we needed more rope, knotting it in one end and wrapping it around until we could hold a human between the logs.

we tried to lift it carefully as we had someone laying in it to see if it worked. amazingly it did.
now we had to make it comforble to whoever that would be carried around in it. now we had to think like if it was out in the wilderness, so we could not take the pillows that where laying around in the basement.
adding jackets or sweathers worked out nice.
now we would try to carry our scout leader in it to test it out in practice. only one problem was how could we make sure he wouldn't fall out of our board.

Knut told us to attach him to the board with ropes, the same way we had the ropes underneath him.
that meant he would get complitely wrapped up between the logs.
one of the older boys showed me the knot that we used to secure so the rope wouldent slide away and then we went on knotting up our Scout leader. it didn't take me long to get the hang of the knotting as we threw the rope between each other and knotted as many times as possible from Knut's ankles and all the way up to his shoulders. we finnished and four of us grabbed one end each of the logs sticking out to see if we could carry him around.

meanwhile a reporter showed up to make herself a story for the local news paper. she had arranged a meeting with us earlier and was now writing down about what we where doing here.
we started to carry Knut outside all tied up to our homemade board and placed him up against the wall.
the news reporter took a picture of us all together with our tied up leader (sounds weird when you think about it, a first aid lesson that tells you to tie up the person who is badly hurt)

we carried him back indoor and undid the knots before the girls came down to us with the green waffles that we enjoyed.
i'll see if i'm not to lazy with posting a new story in the future, and if i'm not i'll tell from another scout meeting we had where i tied up girl that got a little to annoying.
Once a scout, always a perverted pyromaniac with a fetish for knives and duct tape
