The Mirror

Hiro was living in the lap of luxury, not a care in the world. He came from a prominent family in Japan, was a star baseball player at school, and had many love interests. Needless to say, he was a good student when it came to grades, yet his attitude was a little on the cocky side.

One day, after parctice, Hiro came home to an empty western-style mansion, which he had just moved into. He kicked off his shoes but decided to stay in his uniform, complete with a blue shirt, black pants folded to the knees, and black socks. He used the wooden floor to slide around as he explored the huge house.

He came across a cabinet which he had never noticed before. Curious, he opened the door, which led into a long, narrow corridor. He walked down, looking around the dimly lit area. He wasn't scared, as he lived for adventure, and the light at the end of the corridor led him on. He smiled as he walked into an open space. However, upon looking at the barren room, he frowned; all that was in the room was a mirror, a very tall one at that. It was in an ornately crafted frame, made of gold, rubies, and diamonds.

He looked at the mirror in admiration of his own reflection; He flexed and showed off his pearly whites. "Hiro!" Upon hearing his mother yell, he turned around and ran off.... He never noticed that the reflection in the mirror hadn't moved out of site. It flexed for a few seconds, but then, it stretched. With a small step, it went forward, and crossed over, to the other side.

Hiro had a nice dinner with his parents before they were rushed out to the family hospital, where an important surgery had just commenced. Hiro was again left alone in the huge house. He went to the living room and laid down on the couch. Since it was such a hot night, Hiro decided to take off his shirt, leaving his chest free to the AC. he tuned in to a horror film and fell asleep halfway in.

He awoke to a weird sensation. He opened his eyes, and found himself looking into what appeared to be a reflection of his face. "Ahhh!" hiro stumbled off of the couch and onto his back. What he saw was an exact replica of himself. Fully clad in his uniform, short, spikey black hair, brown eyes, and a smiling face. That Hiro, however, held a roll of duct tape and ropes in each of his hands. Hiro crawled like a crab backwards in fear, as the smiling replica stepped forward, smiling...

Before he knew it, Hiro found himself in the same room that the mirror was located. The boy who was shirtless was tied in a chair with his arms behind him, feet apart. His whole body was covered from head to toe with ropes. He tried to scream, but the replica's socks were used to blind and gag him. He moved his head left and right, but they were as if glued onto his head. "MMPPHH!!!" Hiro struggled, but he couldn't escape. The clone then started taping his body over and over, making his whole body, and the chair, appear as if it was a silver cocoon, leaving only two slits for his nostrils.
Why was this happening? Hiro thought.

"Why?" Hiro's clone repeated. "Why, I'm taking your place, that's why!" Hiro could feel the clone, still smiling, as it tightened his wrists. "I've been stuck in that mirror for a looong time. Now I'm free, and it's all thanks to you!"

Hiro was still confused and was scared to death of not being able to move his arms or legs. "You see, because you looked into the mirror, you sent a bit of your essence into it, giving me life.. Don't worry, I won't kill you."

Hiro was relieved... sort of. "But, I'm afraid you'll have to stay here for a while. If you die, the essence inside of me dies, then I die. So I'll just store you here, forever!" Hiro struggled again,, with more power. He knew this plan couldn't work, he had to eat and drink, or else he'd die for sure!

"I'll feed you, silly!" Clone-Hiro petted the original's hair. "But I may have to move you somewhere more... soundproof..."

"Hiro?" Hiro heard his mother call for him, and he began to yell, even louder, more desperate.

"Well, Hiro," I'll see you tomorrow for dinner!" Hiro's clone walked out of the secret cabinet. "Right here, mom!"

Back inside his personal prison, Hiro shouted and cried. He didn't want this, he wanted out! "There is a void..." said a mysterious voice...

"Mph?" Hiro looked around for that low voice. He then felt himself being moved... mmore like sucked, into something. The mirror was forcing him inside! "Mpphhh!!!!!" Hiro yelled louder and louder, moving his feet, trying to run.... but he wouldn't be escaping...

The next night, the clone came back to find his alter-self trapped inside the mirror, struggling more than ever... his sounds were muffled completely, not a sound could be heard.....

There, the clone decided, his original would remain trapped, for all eternity, as he roamed the earth, free.

For Hiro, seconds turned into minutes, minutes to hours, hours to days... He didn't feel hungry or thirsty at all, it was as if he had lost his humanity. He stopped struggling after day 10... that is, till he heard footsteps from the other side...

"Oh, Hiro..." Hiro knew the sound of his own voice... he resented that voice... he struggled and everything, but it didn't matter.

Hiro's clone walked towards the mirror and touched the glass, as if trying to reach out to him. "How pitiful you must feel... while you've been imprisoned in here, I've been having the time of my life, living out my days as you... you--- what???" Hiro felt dizzy, even sleepy...

Hiro awoke on the floor, untied, ungagged, able to see. He stood up in the same room he was trapped in... and looked at the mirror: in it, he saw himself, or what looked like himself, tied to a chair and gagged in a silver tape cocoon...

"Wha-?" Hiro started, before the low voice resonated...

"The void must be filled... by the one who fits the space..." The clone struggled and shook his head... Hiro couldn't help but feel sorry for himself... or itself. What could he do? How could he do ANYTHING? He felt his head spin with guilt, sorrow, and anger until-

"ARGHHH!!!!!!!!!!" Hiro, with all of his energy punched the mirror. It shattered into a thousand little piecees, along with the ghastly image of Hiro. It not only shattered, but roared, which caused Hiro to fall back, onto his butt and hands. When all was done, the room was eerily quiet. Then, out of nowhere, an orb of blue light appeared, with a tail of blue wispy gas tailing behind.

"Thank you..." it said, before it headed up, through the ceiling, and up towards where it had been waiting to go, for a very long time...

Hiro stood up, and looked at himself. He brushed himself off, and tried moving. He got out of the cabinet and ran out of the house. In the sky, he saw that blue orb, ascent higher and higher... till it blended with the light blue sky above...

At dinner that night, Hiro hugged his parents, who wondered why their son was acting as if he hadn't seen them in a week.

Eating, his mother noticed something... "Hiro, I didn't know you ate left-handedly..."

THE END
Tie me up, put a sock in my mouth, I promise I won't struggle~
