TUGs Stories - Feedback and Reviews

Postby bondagefreak » Mon Jan 13, 2014 9:25 pm

First of all, a quick shout-out to all forum members who regularly post reviews on the stories of this board: THANK YOU!

I am sure all the writers on the forum will agree that feedback and reviews are really important.
Without our reviewers, we have no way of knowing if our stories are being enjoyed, or if they can be improved on...etc
Posting feedback, even if it's just a small line, will go a long way in encouraging the author to continue writing.

Sometimes I will read a story and enjoy it a lot...but won't have anything special to say.
It's only when I started writing my own stories that I realised small comments DID encourage me.
It doesn't take much...only two or three words can be sufficient.

We've seen some writers come and go over the last few years. Many of them stopped posting because of low feedback and this is a shame...especially when you see a stories with several thousand views but only a handful of comments.

In short, I just want to thank all those of you who regularly review stories we post, and I think other writers will want to do the same.
One of the goals I set for myself this year, is to participate more actively on the forum by reviewing the different stories I enjoyed reading.

If you regularly browse through the story boards, but don't often post reviews or comments...remember that if you spent 30 minutes, or an hour reading a story...it won't cost you much to spare another 10 seconds to say you enjoyed it :quirk:

Thanks for reading this.

I couldn't agree more, with the original poster. I write a few stories on here, and its always nice to get some feedback, and words of encouragement.

Perhaps if we all took a little time to appreciate other peoples efforts, the board would be a more welcoming place to visit. :)

Trust me - the lack of comments is not specific to this board. As some of you know, I run a story site where my stories from here, as well as others, appear - and I think the only time I get comments tend to be when I manage to piss someone off with what I have written.

Having said which - yes, feedback helps us to know if we are doing something you enjoy.

I am all for feed back & reviews I just think if you want to give alot of feedback PM the author.More than 3 or 4 sentences should be PMed so other people can enjot the story.I wind up waiting for
KP to post stories on his site because of long posted feedback.

At this point, I'd welcome any feedback at all, whether on the story string on by PM; there are only about four people who comment on my work at all. Is it really that bad?...

Hello Mister. M,
I don't think the number of reviews is indicative to the quality of your writing.
Other excellent writers are suffering from the same "lack of feedback." There are MANY lurkers on this site...who sign up but don't post anything. From what I see, you write very long chapters. It can be discouraging for you to write a long chapter and end up with only one or two reviews between each. Maybe you should break them up and write shorter but more regular chapters. This way, you will end up with more feedback overall, even if there are still only a few reviews between each chapter.

Yea, I agree with the above posters. Feedback is the driving point for most, if not all, stories on this site. Having many views is great, but it isn't a good indication of how many people actually follow your story. It just indicates how many times a thread has been opened. One thread being opened 99 times by one single person will result in the same number of views as t thread that has been opened by 99 people. Because of this, the only way of knowing how may people are actually following a story is by feedback. So please consider leaving feedback. And like Vivifan suggested, you can always PM the writer if you want confidentiality.

I think I have said my piece. Thanks in advance to those that listen and start to write feedback!

I agree - feedback is always encouraging and I have also gotten some really good ideas for stories from people on the board.

I also try and leave feedback or comments for stories when I can - unfortunately, I don't always have the tine to comment on them all.

I agree.

Do add feedback to my first story.

I would like to put in my two cents as well!

Feedback and reviews are what keep me writing! I could be scribbling in a notebook, but instead I wanted to share the stories I come up with, and am always looking for any kind of feedback or new story ideas! If you're ever thinking of posting a comment on a story, please do! It'll always help the writer, positive or negative.
