California Proposal to Legalise Gay Killing

Postby BranBTAT » Tue Mar 24, 2015 11:34 am

[T]he People of California wisely command, in the fear of God, that any person who willingly touches another person of the same gender for purposes of sexual gratification be put to death by bullets to the head or by any other convenient method.

Interesting read in theguardian yesterday. A California attorney has put forward a proposal to legalise the killing of homosexuals. For those more tolerant, less expressive Californians, aka those who "transmit sodomistic
propaganda," well he's got something for you too. Not a bullet to the head, but just $1,000,000 fine, up to 10 years in prison, and/or being banished from the state for the rest of your life.

If you are gay, you get murdered; straight but tolerant, exiled. <sarcasm> What a lovely world we live in :) </sarcasm>

California has often been referred to as "The Land of Fruits and Nuts" and every so often someone proves it!
If you believe in yourself enough -
nobody else will figure out you're faking it.

Wow well that is just horribly stupid of anyone to make such a proposal. It will never pass though, so that is good but still though it is just insane that anyone would actually come up with such an idea AND think it will get passed. It would be funny if not so horrible.

"However, the measure is unlikely to reach voters, as the California supreme court can intervene to prevent measures that violate the state constitution from reaching the ballot."

and

"The proposal would then need to collect at least 356,000 valid signatures within 180 days to qualify for the ballot, which is no easy task."

So, let's not get too worried. And I have also read that disbarment proceedings are being initiated against the lawyer who brought up the bill.

Here is an update on that strange little story. Someone with some sense and grit decided enough was enough and killed the bill.

Well, now. This foolish proposal was actually a rather transparent attempt to build public sentiment against the liberal California petition initiative right.

Don't you all agree that the legislature and judges know what is best for the people, rather than we people know? Apparently, there is currently no prohibition in California of a citizen submitting for consideration BY THE PEOPLE of a petition to shoot any judge or legislator who would try to modify the existing petition initiative.

I'm sorry, but the California initiative process has hardy been a wellspring
of ideas for good government.

Do you recall the Briggs initiative? The three strikes law? I remember when an initiative
was floated to outlaw rent control at a time when apartment building owners began to
gouge renters for excessive rents.

Sometimes, there is no alternative to this when the legislature is obstructive.
However I can cite numerous times when horrible laws have been foisted upon
California by cynical and corrupt groups.

There is no substitute for a responsible legislature. There is no substitute
for a responsible electorate either!

I have some good news, and I have some bad news.

The bad news, is that the Martians have landed, and are taking over the earth.

The good news, is that they eat illegal aliens, and piss gasoline. More good news, is that a colony of them is headed for California.

That joke is in extremely poor taste, Drawscore. I'm wavering as to whether to leave it or delete it. That's really not much different in attitude than the bill that fellow wanted to make law that started this topic in the first place. You're essentially saying you'd like to see the illegals killed off. That kind of heartless attitude is typical of your kind (conservatives, in case I'm not clear).
I don't suppose it has occurred to you that why reason why there are so many illegal immigrants in the first place is because the laws that govern who we allow into this country are extremely arbitrary and unfair? I'll take a randomly selected group of illegals over a equally randomly selected racist rednecks any day.
If there are any immigrants who should be sent packing, it's the Somalians. They've been coming to my state in droves and are making a hash of the welfare system in ways the Hispanics never did. They don't mingle, they don't work, they don 't learn the language - they just take, take, take. A majority of the illegals you wish would get eaten by Martians on the other hand have been working their butts off to earn a living.

I can't believe the number of Somalians in Auburn and Lewiston, Maine. And you know something, the mayors of cities can not do a damn thing about it. Those immigrants are sent where ever Immigration wants, the town welfare department gets a stipend from the Feds for a little while (I forget -- 6 months? Maybe a year?) Then the city has to come up with the money on their own from guess who. I have spent a lot of time in that area. Its pathetic to the citizens there.

Having been raised in the South, I take offense as I have met thousands of people and have not met a single racist.

I see a LOT of stereotypes being cast in the last few posts on this thread, and it's all damned pathetic to see human beings acting this.

Democrats want immigration too easy, and Republicans want it too harsh. They're all a shameful bunch, either way. I ain't wasting the diatribe any further when there is so much anger present.

I am not a mod, but I think it is shameful when the mod falls for the troll bait. Remember: don't feed the trolls!

Really? Not One? That's incredible. And extremely unlikely. In any case, what makes you think i'm referring to everyone in the South? Or anyone in the South specifically? I never even mentioned the South! Rednecks can be found anywhere; even right up here in Maine! I even know a few of them; though i don't associate with them any more than need be.
Maybe you just don't know the kind of people I am talking about. How well can you know several thousand people anyway? Not very well at all I bet. But the racists are there, and not just in the South either, whether they are among people you have met or not. I see them online all the damn time. Or do you think the modern racist groups are simply imaginary? What else would you call those people screaming at a busload of frightened kids to go back to Mexico (kids who, as it turned out, were not even from Mexico). What would you call those people who want to a grand version of the Great wall of China / Berlin Wall all across the southern border? A wall that would be no more effective now than the Maginot Line was against the Nazis in WWII (the Germans simply skirted around it).
There are plenty of rednecks out there AlexUSA - and I never said they were all in the South! Racism is everywhere. That's one reason why Donald (Daffy) Trump is so popular right now.

One mayor in Lewiston tried to ask the Somalians to find somewhere else to live some ten years ago, and boy did the know-nothing Extreme liberals let him have it. They're probably people who don't live in those cities themselves. Portland, where i live, has it just as bad.
I hate to sound racist, and as is I have NO problems whatever with American-born blacks, but these people make it very very difficult. Not even the nicest, most broad-minded people I know (and I know quite a few) have anything good to say about them. I'd much rather deal with as many Hispanics from Central and South America; they're usually honest, hard-working people rather than welfare slugs. There are some exceptions of course; just as there are undoubtedly some Somalians who actually work for a living. But all in all I much prefer to have more Mexicans and fewer Somalians.

You said redneck. In the South, redneck refers to those folks who live out in the country and sit with a shotgun on their laps. Hell, I was just reading about Ol' racist Georgie who got banned some time back. I don't deny racism, but I am asking you to be careful with words that convey different, but strong, meanings in different places. Redneck is not necessarily a racist, but a racist can be a redneck.

Just because it has a particular meaning where you are doesn't mean that meaning applies everywhere. My understanding of the term is a lot more general... and refers to anyone who is white, vocally racist, poorly educated, acts macho, and generally is something of a lowlife. You sound like you're describing a yokel or even a hillbilly (terms which also mean different things to different people I might add). In any case, it sure as hell is not equivalent to 'Southerner', and I think your assumption that such is what I meant to be close-minded (if not downright insulting) as you seem to think *I* am in this regard.
In any case, no disrespect toward any non racist (southern or otherwise) was intended or implied.

I guess it depends on where you are at any given moment, what a colloquialism means, and whether or not it is offensive, and how offensive.

What i find more concerning is assuming the worse when someone uses such a colloquialism. Some of course, such as the infamous n-word, no longer have a valid use -though even this has caused misunderstandings. When Mark Twain used the n-word liberally in Huckleberry Finn it was to send the opposite message that people who work to ban this book from school libraries seem to be assuming it does. Again, they automatically assumed the worst, and they would be dead wrong.
