Russia warns against attack on Syria

Postby misterg792000 » Fri Sep 06, 2013 1:00 pm

What the UN inspectors will comment on is whether or not chemical weapons were used, not who used them. This was Assad's precondition for allowing them in in the first place.

Russian military personnel have been evacuated weeks ago, Iran will not intervene because they are completely unable to do so in any military sense, and Putin will not start World War III over Assad. He's got a lot more to lose than he does to gain by standing up for a toady like Bashar.

Putin won't start WW 3, there you're right. The USA is under way, to make a war of aggression. And so they will start the war.
This isn't about losing something or not. This is about to stop the USA from bringing of destruction and more civil war to syria. It's time that Russia sets a limit for the USA, so that they stop invading everywhere on the world.

How do you start a war that already started 2 years ago, anyway?

It's physically impossible for the US to bring any more destruction to Syria than that which already exists. Moreover there is nothing immoral in showing that the civilized world will not stand for strongmen happily gassing civilians.

It's time that the USA sets a limit for Russia so that they stop invading everywhere on the world (Chechnya, Georgia, etc); see what I did there? Stop pretending that this is Iraq. The right already tried that with Libya and are still trying to wipe the egg off their face.

Obama is weak, and Putin is taking advantage of it. But for the life of me, I can't understand why. Obama does not need Putin's help to look like an incompetent, pompous ass.

"Weak"? Yup, nothing like taking out Public Enemy #1 and directing a successful military intervention with minimal civilian casualties and not a single American life lost to mark someone as "weak".

I'd like to thank Ronald Reagan's rotting corpse for instilling the notion that talking like you're in a cowboy movie is a substitute for actual leadership.

Spot on! :big:

If its weak Obama who gets result in his foreign policy then what does that make of his all powerful Republican predecessor who could do nothing but fail?

Russia and China will respond if the West "accidentally" bombs their Syrian Embassies, as they did in the Balkans

Yeah, Obama appreciates the military so much, that he has knocked down their pay raise to 1%, in lieu of the 1.8% they would normally get in 2014. Obama is a worthless candy ass.

Not appreciating the military is completely irrelevant to whether Obama is weak or not, his results on the other hand are relevant and on that he has all powerful Bush trailing far behind him.

America has been embroiled in at least two pointless wars of which one was based on lies and may be illegal. In those wars nothing except waste has been achieves. It has ruined America's reputation giving the image of a bumbling superpower. Obama realised this and won his election on an anti war message. If you win on an anti war message then what are you supposed to do? Give the military all a big raise and make their bases happy land for their enjoyment? No! that would be silly for a president that promised no more war and is already failing to live up to that.

Also the American military is the most well funded one in the world even with Obama, in fact you could all have actual health care and social safety net's if you took 1 to 5 % off that money and gave it to domestic affairs.

Obama has nothing to do with setting military pay rates, congress does. The same congress responsible for the disastrous sequestration.

"Worthless candy ass"? Sounds like you're a little bitter that Libya was a success in all the ways Iraq was not. I'm gonna take a stab in the dark here and assume that you consider Reagan confusing foreign policy with old cowboy movies was sound.

When was Obama ever anti-war? He was pretty explicit about continuing to attack anyone who harbored terrorists during the campaign, and I specifically remember Pakistan being mentioned.

Tell me what, exactly, the scandal is here.

Without the fake Benghazi "scandal," the primary narrative of Obama's intervention in Libya is that he took out a state sponsor of terrorism and assisted with a successful transition from a domestic rebellion to a functioning democracy. All without losing trillions of dollars or thousands of American lives.

The contrast with Iraq is blinding; no wonder the idiot right keeps trying to make a scandal where there is none.

I really don't see how Obama can be held personally responsible for idiots bombing the embassy. It would have happened regardless.

But fine, i'l humour you. A successful military intervention that brought down a tyrant and wasn't based on complete lies told to the entire world, with only four American deaths at its worst that actually manage to boost the US's reputation rather then smirk it. That's a MASSIVE success! Leaders all across the world would dream of being involved in such an intervention. Its a MASSIVE success even if you don't compare it to the complete disaster that are Iraq and Afghanistan with its thousand's of futile death's without any gain.

The fact that you think a complete victory with minimal casualties and actual GOOD being achieved is somehow a negative spot on Obama's record just shows how biased and...well, irrational you are when it comes to the man. I bet that if he was a Republican you would be praising him to high heaven for this victory and claim how the Democrats would be to spineless to carry out such an operation.

"Abandoned" how, exactly? Being somewhat acquainted with Sean Smith, I can tell you for a fact he would not consider himself "betrayed and abandoned". Knowing a fair handful of people who have or are currently working for the State Department, they're all well aware of the risks of their jobs.

Go on, tell me what professional malfeasance on Obama or Clinton's part is involved in the Benghazi attack. Explain the "scandal". "B-b-but four Americans are dead!" is not a "scandal". Especially not when you're calling the POTUS a "weak candy-ass" and pretending that 4 dead in a Benghazi terrorist attack is a bigger scandal than 4,000+ dead in a war waged under false pretenses under the last Big Tough Guy.

If you can't explain what is so scandalous or present evidence of conspiracy/malfeasance/etc, then do kindly shut your fucking mouth and stop using the dead and their families as sock puppets in your little contrarian puppet show.

Once again, it's difficult to argue with, or convince someone whose mind is closed. Y'all need to quit watching MSNBC. For news about the US that is more objective, try BBC America.

And yes, one should have an open mind. But if it's open too much, then all your brains fall out.

And Obama is still a left wing ideologue, who has disdain and contempt for the US military, and wants to turn the US into a third world shit hole.

Debatable since the Democrat's are practically right wing when compared to Europe's left.

Because the military operation's before him all went swimmingly right? What's he do to? blatantly cater towards the military while the country is getting tired of war?

Says the person constantly parroting today's FOX/right-wing radio/right-wing blogger talking point schedule who has never, from what I've seen, developed a single independent thought. You still haven't made an argument, convincing or not, that the Benghazi "scandal" is not just another smokescreen cooked up by contrarian fools.

Remember Godwin's Law, that you like to quote so much? "As an online discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches 1. In other words, Godwin said that, given enough time, in any online discussion—regardless of topic or scope—someone inevitably makes a comparison to Hitler or the Nazis. The law is sometimes invoked, as a rule, to mark the end of a discussion when a Nazi analogy is made, with the writer who made the analogy being considered to have lost the argument.
I now propose Drawscore's Law. It's like Godwin's Law, only this time the person loses when he first accuses anyone who disagrees with him that his mind must be closed.

I think Misterg792000 has a valid point, DS. You constantly spout empty (and often out-of-context) platitudes, cite FOX News as if they were your own original conclusions, accuse others of talking or acting the very same way you talk and act (such as accusing others of citing MSNBC News as if they were their own original conclusions - you've done this to me several times even though I NEVER watch MSNBC nor any other television news) - and basically talk just like the conservative nut jobs running for political office and the trolls on Yahoo News with the same old Obama bashing and so forth. You have the right to say what you want of course, but would it kill you to be a little more original?

It also seems to me that it should also be considered an instance of Drawscore's own vaunted Godwin's law. After all, Stalin is almost as odious as Hitler was; killing many millions of his own people just as Hitler did. Naturally, the irony is totally lost on Drawscore, who evidently thinks in extremely simplistic terms (good and bad; black and white, with nothing in between); just like the idiots on Fox news (which I do not watch but which I still know about from watching clips of them on Youtube and other places).

Actually, Stalin killed about four times the number of people that Hitler did, but then, he had a much larger country and population.
