COMMENT:Well now we know why healthcare costs are skyrocketing and quality care and alternative treatments are disappearing. If Medicare and its co-conspirator contractors are going to do back door decisions on people's healthcare including what services, to what extent, for how long, at what costs, and what is health care and what is not then By Golly Medicare and all these sub organizations and contractors can assume all the costs themselves with no costs to any patients.

This was a rather difficult read but I think I get the gist of it. And someone whose been going through a health care nightmare himself since being diagnozed with cancer i can definitely relate to the fact tat our current health care insurance system is a tangled mess indeed!

I myself have no beef with doctors... after all, a doctor saved my life when I developed cancer by removing that blasted tumor which surely would have killed me by now if other doctors hadn't spotted it! No; I have NO problems with the doctors. Theirs is a difficult profession and most don't make anywhere near as much money as most people seem to think they do!
But the Health Care system really could use an overhaul so that hard-working stiffs like me aren't rendered bankrupt by medical issues like mine. I had over $70,000 in medical bills to deal with, of which insuance covered less than half (and I 'm still paying medical expenses related to this problem over a year later). Luckily I have the monetary resources to handle this (if not easily); but not everyone does!

Sorry matty no offense intended but your dad is a victim too in all of this and I'm sure he pays more than he should based off some references and provider codes I found. The point is only those at the very top who make the decisions and set the standards and pass laws protecting the system from suits and pick and choose what is health care and what isn't and what the prices are And the money's he's shelled out went to the washington lobbyists Why should we pay for organizations started by another organization that was created by law to manage and create organizations and laws through the fees and costs we pay hospitals..or our insurances pay it..if we have it. However the gist of what I'm seeing and hearing here is the greater percentage won't read the info supplied to look up but will comment from their emotions instead. Their choice but their loss as well.

Dag- gon Matty !...I can-not speak about Canadian Medical Care I don't know how their systems set up. I apologize, I just caught that... My studies were in the U.S.A. I do know what taxes and premiums taken out in social security here and what we pay into car insurances is enough our government would have a paid for medical system if there weren't all these agencies created by agencies and they and the government dip into it all the time Our state and federal legislatures can't keep their grubby little paws off it for wanting to fund pet projects" borrowing from peasants to pay applause" at capitol hill

The money goes to fund business schemes like...Project Management Institute...Association For Community Affiliated Plans...Medicaid Health Plans Of America...Association of Proposal Management Professionals...Consultings and adviseries Fees. Which if I had my way with them I'd :bondage: each and every one and make em give back all the money to the health insurance pools then make laws to :bound: them from trespassing into Health care ever again

www.politico.com/news/stories/0511/55245.html Quotes..."Government lawyers are defending the healthcare overhaul as merely...a way of regulating how Americans pay for their healthcare; a completely constitutional use of Congresses power...seizing on an alternative suggested in passing by the twenty six states in their briefs, government lawyers argue that under the state's plan Americans would be denied access to medical care, a situation far more draconian than the tax penalty in the health reform law.
Earlier this month, the states wrote in their briefs to the 11th Circuit Court, that Congress cannot compel someone to buy insurance"...

[Question here: if that's true then how is it we the people have to have auto insurance liability coverage to drive or own a car?]

"...but one legal way to ensure that people pay for medical services, is imposing restrictions or penalties on people who attempt to get health care with out insurance...

[suggests that health care is not necessary nor mandatory perhaps?...Implies Americans have largely been scammed by persuasive media and traditions?]

"...the restrictions that the states propose would limit access to medical care (discriminate it based on economics)...in disregard of long standing common law and statutes, the administration/government lawyers wrote...also writing that..."Because the need for health care is unpredictable, state's approach would require that individuals obtain insurance or else accept risk of being left in the streets after an auto accident.
The Justice department lawyers called it, "a requirement to pay for health care through insurance. Congress did not exceed its power by opting to require minimum insurance coverage or the payment of a tax.....instead of conditioning access to health care on the purchase of insurance and there by denying the sick and injured access to medical care if they do not have coverage"

My Personal Response to that additional to comments already entered, The Article As A Whole... Is unsavory and savage in its content.

At the present, I and many others, can not seek health care because we can't afford it and I object to so many bills that come after. I have medicare. At best, its paying 30% or less of medical costs altogether.
My only income has been Social Security Disability totaling 694.00. Of that my monthly budget is 658.00 give or take 12.00. So I and I'm sure 100 others if not more have no money for insurance premiums + co-pays+deductibles+co-pay prescription costs, etc.
It is my experience that medical insurance equals insurance premiums+co-pays+part pay on office visits+co-pay on prescriptions plus part pay hospital charges.
And when one thinks about it ...I guess it is medical insurance but for the medical profession by using our names and account numbers for little or less services to us at out of our pocket costs.
We all would do well not to buy or attempt to buy any insurance. Just make 10.00 or 15.00 payments once a month or what we can afford and the hospitals can wait on their money and stay in budget of what they take in thru that.
I myself refuse to be bullied to buy more insurance. I'll die at home having faith in God First.

Tell me folks...How much of medical care is staged fraud? I mean, if people can keep consumers from being treated because we can't afford to pay, then apparently there is fraud somewhere in medical practices. How else would it be justified letting people die in the streets at an auto accident because they don't have insurance?
The states nor the government lawyers, can be permitted to tell me in one sentence my nine stents need follow-up medications, check-ups, and doctor appointments with specialist is life saving important,...and when insurance fails...I'm suddenly o.k. It's not important. Go on with your life, you don't need all that. Obviously there is fraud, mental cruelty, as well as economic exploitation, in essence an"assault"

One doctor tells me, Your kidneys are functioning 35% less than they should be....Two weeks later, another in E.R. asks me "What Kidney failure?... when I asked him if I should be taking medications he prescribed me then said," there's nothing wrong with your kidneys...go on and take the medicine"...

Given this....And to think Congress wants to make people have to buy insurance or pay tax or go with out health care...and even if you do buy insurance, it'll limit what treatment you receive by it's policies and protocols on what it will pay for and won't.

My name is Paul Eldridge and I approve this statement and I stand behind it and all here to.

You can't tell me there's not discrimination in health care compare the health care Representative Gifford got vs your own health care. I refuse to go hungry or homeless just to pay insurances mandated by legislation. I refuse to pay any insurance premiums to any insurance companies unless I get full coverage, unconditionally, unlimited access, and all Americans should do the same.
National Insurance Networks should have to deposit into a pool .10 for every 2.00 paid monthly to the pool.
And Besides, Raising medical Costs on U.S. consumers to pay for overseas medical costs is a deceitful misuse of authority, and obtaining funding through exploitive manipulation of the medical system and consumers.

Question from perspective...

You cannot go to the store and get groceries if you can't pay...Right?
So if you can't pay for emergency medical services then you shouldn't go to the hospital or doctor
But...if you can't pay for hospital or doctor then you can't pay for insurance premiums so-o-o
you don't buy insurance if you can't pay for it....See how that works?
To cut social security benefits to seniors, they are asked to pay more their share of
medical costs plus pay insurance premiums leaving them less money to live on
And if they don't pay for premiums then a tax or fee will be brought against them
So is this governments way of reducing social security benefits to recipients by transferring funds?

Because you operate the car on streets paid for by tax dollars. If you use the car solely on your own property, you do not have to register it and have insurance.

As long as doctors are paid fees for services rather than a flat annual salary, someone has to process the paperwork involved in those services. Also, someone has to perform oversight to control fraud. Otherwise, someone unscrupulous could submit claims for procedures that were never really performed. This has actually happened. Performing those administrative functions costs money. Medicare actually is cheaper at it than private insurers, from what I've heard.

From where I sit, nobody is being completely honest in the debate over health care - not the Democrats, not the Republicans. And not even most of the voters. Because the ugly truth is, most all of us want every expenditure to be made if our lives are on the line - but we somehow think that somebody else should pay for it. In the immortal words of Walt Kelly, "We have met the enemy, and he is us."

Thank you...I hope you've read all the foregoing on this page. They are links to subject matter and are wide area of considerations. How many agencies do we need to catch fraud?... How many agencies are needed to do the paperwork and be overseen by yet so many other agencies who are supposed to make sure its done right. Medicare alone has hundreds if not thousands of agencies under its control overseeing paper work, deciding medical practices, regulating each agency's costs, and passing regulations requiring investments in computer technology programs for doctor's offices and hospitals to model their practices off of. The costs for all this bureaucracy and posturing is less quality care, the costs of all these agency and programs, added to our individual medical bills, higher insurance premiums and less items in health care costs paid for.
Cellofello, you missed the point of that auto insurance statement and if we pay taxes for our roads how does that justify requiring we buy auto liability which compensates the other guy minimally and the customer still has to pay a deductible before coverage for themselves?

I got a call from a collection agency today about a one year old bill from So Ohio Med Ctr for 29.95. With all the costs of a billing department auditing of accounts and oversight management and book keeping and it took a whole year to submit one bill? Kind of shows where the waste is doesn't it.
