So, did anyone like the new Harry potter movie?

Postby haloguy » Sun Nov 21, 2010 5:54 am

I personally loved it, the bike chase scene was awesome. I noticed that there was a minor Tie up, when the snatchers were chasing Ron Harry, and hermione, they were shooting chains out of their wands, and one of them wrapped itself around Ron and tied him up

Actually, the books are a pretty good source of Tie ups. Harry tied up in the first one by voldemort, Harry tied up in the fourth one in the graveyard, harry tied up in the 5th movie (to a chair in umbridge's office) tied up in the 7th one by the snatchers and in malfoy mannor

Lots of tie ups, some of them with a gag

I loved it too, but what the hell with a two-parter???? I didn't realize this going in, and am a bit peeved to have to plunk down another nine bucks in.... when... July??? Same with Skyline, which I also saw recently. The entire movie- as good as the effects were- was a build-up to a future sequal.

Me and my sister went to Harry potter we even dressed up a little for it lol. I think it was the best one yet and am glad they made it a two parter.
Let's use all the colors.
Dust 'em, Pix!
Yup! That tasted purple!

The movie was great but I wish that certain novel chapters had more reference given in it. Those who own the book will know what I mean hopefully. There will be Tugs in the second part two if they do not forget about a certain series of events in the book.

Hagrid tied to a tree in The Forbidden Forest in the chapter "Into the Forest Again." Luna Lovegood and Mr. Ollivander chained up in the Malfoy's cellar in the chapter "Malfoy Manor." "The Sacking of Severus Snape" where Professor McGonagall binds the Carrow siblings together and then hangs them up in a net in the Ravenclaw commonroom.

I found it extremely dark compared to the other films, ALOT of blood and violence... but if I could say this... nude Emma Watson ftw ;D

The fact that the movie was in two parts was announced well over a year ago and well publicized. I knew it myself while the previous movie was still in theaters, and speculated this would be necessary when the final book came out.
Sorry Snobound, but I'll bet most of your own students knew *that* much about the movie long ago! :P
Anyway, think about it... wouldn't you rather have the book adapted as two two-hour movies rather than have it all squashed into just one?
*I* would! All that action packed into one 2 to 2 1/2 hour movie?! You couldn't do it! Most of the other books had lots of unnecessary filler; but this last one had almost none at all! It was either a two parter or one four-to-five hour movie, and - well, you do have a point about that revenue stream. But also most people can't sit thru even a great movie *that* long anymore.

Damn Shane, you have the memory of someone with an iq of 200!
I liked it, didn't love it, but that's what ya get considering part 2 is by far the best.

Please. I get that enough offline as it is. For my defense, I own the entire series and have reread every book at least twenty times. Last time my IQ was tested in real life by professionals, they actually refused to tell me what it was. That should say something right there, you think?

Yeah... they don't like to deliver bad news! Bwaaaaahahahahahahahahaaaaaa!
Just kidding, Shane. But you really set yourself up for that one.
Twenty times though! Wow! I've only read them 2-6 times (re-reading each previous book as the next came out; reading the first three together the first time I read them at all, and then re-reading the entire series after I finished the last one. You must've *really* loved those books! I'll probably re-read the entire set myself again - in a year or so.

It was a great movie and to witness it in an Imax Theater was incredible at the midnight of the premiere.
There is a lot of great scenes, funny and serious.

Personally, I have read them each varying, I hold the world record by reading the first book the most times in a month 97 times, my least read one is the second book, I have only read it about 4 times.

I am sure that they won't tie up the carrows and put them in a net, because they could just stun them and run, much easier for the special effects, not in my opinion the greatest choice, but I guess it must be done, and hagrid, they might do the tree thing

It's too bad that Hagrid is the character that I'd LEAST want to see tied up!

the Carrows would be tied up and put in a net if any of us were in charge....it's too bad Holywood doesn't consult with the likes of us.

There was a short tieup scene in The Sorcerers Stone when Harry, Ron and Hermione fell into the devil's snare

Close enough. Nine pounds is worth $14.28 at the moment I am typing this.
Since I plan to buy the DVD anyway, I just wait for the DVD (which will cost little more than two or maybe three movie tickets anyway) to come out rather than bother with the theater and watch it as many times as I want at my own convenience in the comfort of my own living room etc. I don't really see the attraction of watching movies in theaters anymore.

I prefer seeing things on dvd and it was my plan to wait for the two parts to come out on dvd then watch them back to back, but then my sister was in town and she wanted to make a night out of it.

Well, seeing it with someone else is a different matter though; it's probably much more fun seeing it in a theater with pleasant company than when you're all by yourself.
I just hoped that, since it was apparently your sister's idea, she at least paid for your ticket.... or bought you popcorn or something.

Harry potter is a realy good source for tie ups infact i belive in the 6th book jinny, hermine, and some others all get bound and gagged by unbrige however they didnt put it into the movie which is a shame.... on an unrelated note does anyone else want to ram jinny or hermine?
"Mmmmppphhhhhhh"
