Got a little time, so here's part 2. It'll probably be at least a few days before part 3 gets posted. I got lucky with the time on this one.
Part 2
I slowly found myself waking up. I had a very funny dizzy feeling. I slowly blinked and tried to focus. It was dark though and I couldn't see a lot. I was laying on my right side. My arms were behind me. My mouth kind of ached. I tried to reach up to feel of it, when I realized I couldn't. I realized my wrists were bound with what felt like rope. I tried to speak but couldn't do that either. Suddenly I realized something had been stuffed in my mouth and that was causing the aching feeling. I tried to spit it out, but sticky tape prevented me from doing that. I could also feel my ankles bound together.
My memory returned about stopping to help the woman broken down on the road. She'd stuck some kind of needle in my neck. I guess it had some kind of drug in it. But why did she do it? What would a woman be kidnapping a teenager for? Maybe she wanted my car. But why take me along then? Did she just wait on the side of the road until the first person stopped for her became her victim? Something didn't add up here.
It took several minutes for me to start being able to move around much again, as much as I could while tied up anyway. By this time I'd realized I was in the backseat of my own car, and it was moving. It was dark now. The sun had been setting when I'd stopped to help the woman. Holly. That was her name. Or, she said it was her name anyway.
I looked up and saw that it appeared Holly was the driver of my car now. It was a woman with blonde hair anyway. I wondered how long I'd been unconscious. We were traveling at a pretty high speed. I wondered if we were on the interstate.
I tried to speak and made enough mumbling sounds to get Holly's attention. She turned around and glanced at me. "Oh, you're awake now. Sit back and relax. We're going to be at our destination before too much longer."
I laid there and tried to see out the window. From my view flat on the seat I couldn't see much in the darkness. I tried to move my wrists but it was painful. Holly had tied them pretty tightly. If I kept them still it was okay. I tested moving my ankles and got similar results. My fingers couldn't find the knot in the rope.
I gave up trying to untie myself for the time being and thought about what was happening. Mom was expecting me home around 10 or so. Since it was the summer and got dark late, and it was dark now, it might be close to that time, depending on how long we'd been going while I was passed out. Maybe she'd start looking for me soon.
Anger took over as I thought about this woman who stole my car and tied me up in the backseat. I started kicking the back of the driver's seat over and over and grunting into my gag trying to get her attention. After several seconds, I guess I got it because she turned around and snapped "Quit that if you don't want to get hurt!" I hesitated, then started doing it again. After about 10 or 15 more seconds, I could feel the car slowing down and we pulled off the highway. She turned right, drove a short distance, and then stopped. She clicked on the interior light and turned around to face me.
"All right" she said, and I could see her clearly now. She didn't look happy. "If you're not going to quit, I'll have to make you stop." She held up a pretty large knife so I could see it and I got kind of scared. She reached over to the passenger seat and grabbed a roll of duct tape, which I guess she had used to tape my mouth shut with. She tore off a strip. "Close your eyes" she said. Afraid of the knife, I did so, and she placed the tape down over them, effectively taping my eyes shut.
She climbed out of the car and opened the door next to my feet. She used the knife to cut the rope around my ankles and pulled me out. "To the trunk" she said. I hesitated, hoping someone was around to see this. I felt the sharp point of the knife in the back of my neck. "I said move!" I started walking. I didn't really want to be locked in the trunk, but I didn't like that knife in my neck either. She pushed me to the back. I heard the trunk pop open. She pushed me forward and with a lot of effort managed to lift my legs up and over the side. She must have been pretty strong. She grabbed my legs and pulled them together and I felt her tie my ankles again. Then she said "If you value your health and well-being, you won't kick against the trunk and try to get anybody's attention." She pressed the knife up to my throat to drive the point home I guess, then took it away. "Do you understand?" I nodded. "Good." With that she slammed the trunk shut. I hoped someone saw all of this. Unfortunately as I discovered, apparently no one did.
She climbed back into the car and started driving again. I didn't dare kick after her warning. She sounded crazy. I couldn't believe that I was being kidnapped by a woman, who I really believe now would hurt me if she wanted to.
I just laid there for the rest of the drive and tried to keep from hitting the sides when Holly would turn the car. It was very hot outside and inside the trunk it was like an oven. Luckily it was night. I wouldn't want to know what it's like in there during a hot sunny day.
After about a half hour or so, we pulled off the highway again. After a few minutes of slower driving-maybe through a town- it felt like we were on a winding road. Finally the car came to a stop. I wondered where we were. If I'd been unconscious very long, we could be in Mississippi, or maybe even Florida. I heard the trunk pop open. Holly reached down and cut the rope around my ankles again and pulled me out of the trunk, standing me on my feet. The hot humid summer Alabama night air greeted me. The ground felt like gravel. I felt the point of the knife in the back of my neck again. "All right, let's go" Holly said. I grunted into my gag at the feeling of the knife and started to walk. She kept a firm grip on my left arm to keep me from running, not that I could see where I was going with the tape over my eyes.
Holly pushed me forward for about 20 steps when she stopped. "We're going up some steps. Pick your feet up." I slowly raised and lowered my feet, trying to feel the steps. After 4 of them Holly said "Okay, we're on level ground again. Go forward." I hesitated as long as I dared without moving, hoping that wherever we were, somebody would see us. Holly waited about two seconds before giving me a hard shove forward. "You don't listen very well, do you?" she asked. She stopped me and I heard her fiddling around with a lock. She kept a tight grip on my arm. She was pretty strong. I shuffled my feet around. It felt like we were on a wooden porch. She opened a door and I felt myself being pushed into some kind of building. It was cooler in here at least. It felt good on the sweat that had fired up while I was locked in the trunk. I was pushed along into the building for several seconds until Holly suddenly spun me around. "Sit down" she said, easing me down into a wooden chair. She pulled my hands behind the back of the chair. "Sit still" she commanded me. I did.
Holly grabbed my left ankle and pulled it to the left chair leg. She tied my ankle to the chair leg, winding the rope around several times. Next she did the same with my right leg. After that she wound rope around my chest and upper body, pinning my body and arms to the chair. She pulled the ropes tight. Finally I felt her grab a corner of the tape over my eyes and she slowly pulled it off. It hurt a little bit. I blinked at the sudden invasion of light. Holly stood in front of me with a bottle of water.
"I'm going to take the tape off" she said. "There's nobody close by to hear you scream, so don't try it. It'll just annoy me. Do you understand?" I nodded. "Good." With that she started pulling off the tape. She'd used 4 pieces over my mouth and it took a minute before she finally got it all off and I was able to spit out the wad of cloth that had been jammed in there. I was glad, because I'd been afraid it was going to choke me.
Holly put the water bottle up to my lips. She let me drink a decent amount of it before pulling it away.
"Who are you, really?" I asked. "Why did you bring me here? Where are we anyway?"
"You don't need to know where we're at" she replied. "As for why I have you here, well, you'll find out soon enough. Now," she reached down to where she had put her backpack on the floor and pulled out the roll of duct tape again, "you're asking too many questions." She ripped off a piece of tape.
"No, wait..." I started, but she had the tape over my mouth before I could get it out.
"Good" she said. She reached into her pocket and pulled out a cell phone. She glanced at it. "Looks like your mom is starting to wonder where you're at. She called about 15 minutes ago." She held the phone up to me so I could read it. Sure enough, it said "Mom" and her number, plus the time of the call, 10:06 PM. It also said it was 10:20 PM now. It had been about 7:45 when I'd last looked at the clock right before I ran into Holly, so I'd been her captive for over 2 hours now.
Holly started punching things in on the phone. After about a minute she held the phone up and pointed it at me. "I'm taking your picture. Smile."
Obviously I couldn't do anything with the tape over my mouth, so I just sat there. I heard the phone click as she took the picture.
Holly looked down at the phone and smiled. "Your picture looks good. Let's send it to your mother along with a message that you won't be coming home tonight after all." She punched a button on the phone, I guess sending the message.
Mom was going to have a heart attack when she saw it. I was an only child, and she'd always been a little overprotective, especially after Dad died. I wondered what this woman wanted. Was she a complete psycho, just wanting to torment us?
I figured Mom would be calling back pretty quickly after receiving the message, probably hoping it was some kind of prank, and I was right. It wasn't a minute later the phone rang. Holly smiled. "It's your mother, calling to check on her baby boy." She answered the phone. She was standing a few feet away and I could hear my mom's frantic voice on the other end, although I couldn't make out the words.
Holly let her scream into the phone for a few seconds before she calmly responded., "Hello Diane."
Diane? How did she know my mom's name? It was just listed on my phone as "Mom."
Holly continued, "Yes, I know who you are. You know who I am too. It's Angela."
Angela? I guess she'd used a fake name with me. I could barely hear Mom in the background. Holly/Angela continued. "Good, you do remember me. I guess you see your past you've been running from all these years has finally caught up with you. You know what I'm after." After a brief pause where I assume Mom was talking Holly/Angela continued. "You've got a good memory after all these years. I'm glad to see you still remember."
She turned to me. "I take it you saw your precious son and got my message. I figure you can guess why I grabbed him. Give it to me, and I'll give you back your son. If you don't, you'll never see him again. It's that simple."
I could hear Mom screaming really frantically into the phone now. I started squirming around and mumbling into the tape trying to talk to her but I couldn't get the words out. "You want to talk to your son?" Holly/Angela said. "Well, it looks like he wants to talk to you too." She walked over to me. "Say hello to your mother" she said. She ripped the tape off my mouth. It stung a little. She held the phone up to my head.
"Kyle? Kyle?" I could hear Mom's voice in the background. She sounded kind of hysterical and also like she was crying.
"Mom, it's me. I'm okay. I'm mmmm." Holly pressed the tape back over my mouth. "That's enough" she said.
She walked away from me. "I don't think you'd dare get the police involved in this matter, but if you do, you know I'll kill him without a moment's hesitation. I don't want to do it, but I won't hesitate. Give me what I want and you can have him back. I'll give you until midnight tomorrow. I'll call you back in the morning with more instructions."
She hung up the phone. I stared up at her, dumbfounded by everything that had just happened.
"I guess I kind of told you a lie about my name. Sorry. It really is Angela" she said. "I told you that in case something went wrong there at least my real name wouldn't be connected to it."
Angela walked over to the doorway of the small room I was in. She stopped and turned to me. "I'm going to make myself a late dinner. Maybe I'll even bring you a snack.. Then we'll get ready to go to bed." She opened the door, walked out, and closed it. I heard a few locks being done on the other side. Then there was silence.
I just sat there, not knowing what to think. All kinds of questions were running through my head. Who was this woman, Angela, really? How did she and Mom know each other? What was it Angela really wanted, something that was obvious enough Mom knew with only a little bit of discussion? What was in Mom's past that was coming back to haunt her?
And perhaps most importantly, what did she plan on doing with me?
