Anna was so late for her job interview, she couldn’t believe it. Before stepping into the office, she decided to blame either the busy traffic, or the crowded elevator. Everything went black, though, as soon as she let go of the door handle. Someone had thrown a sac over her head! Before she knew it, her hands were tied behind her back; she was pushed into a chair and her waist and feet tied to it. The sac was partially lifted and she opened her mouth, attempting to scream. She was immediately thwarted, by a rag being shoved in her mouth and tied in place.
Now, the sac was removed all together, and a man stood in front of her. When he saw her face, he was shocked.
“Y... you’re not Lisa!†he said, as if blaming her for the fact she wasn’t. “Then, who are you?â€
She tried to tell him, but as he had done a very good job of gagging her and nothing she said was intelligible. He hurriedly removed the gag and she repeated what she had just said:â€Well obviously, I’m not! I’m Anna, and I was told to come here for an interview.†Sarcastically, she went on:â€Please, tell me; do you always treat anyone coming for an interview this way?â€
He looked perplexed. “Anna? An interview? Now? I don’t remember having booked any. I’m Alan, by the way.â€
“If you look in my purse, you’ll find the letter you sent me last week, telling me to come here. In fact, I’m a bit late, and I apologize for that!â€
He opened her purse, which had slipped on to the floor, when he had grabbed her. He rummaged through it until he found the letter. He read it thoroughly, and then looked at her.
“Ah yes!†he said. “Now, I remember! I’m so sorry for the, how shall I put it, rather unorthodox welcoming you got. I’ll immediately set you free.â€
“Don’t bother,†Anna replied. “I kind of like the feeling of being tied up. Let’s instead get down to business. What do you want to know?â€
Thirty minutes later, when the interview was over, and she finally had been untied, Alan told her she got the job, if she still wanted it.
“Yes, I most certainly do!†she said. “You can even tie me up, whenever you want. But please, not too often!â€
