Quiet Frustration

Postby Kyle » Mon Mar 28, 2011 5:40 pm

This is a story written mostly to fulfill a request made by W3sker96 which I've linked to below for reference, which should give you a bit of an idea on at least some of the action that will take place in the story. A young woman named Natalie is the main character in this story.

It's not finished yet. With any luck I should have it finished in the next week or so, but I wouldn't count on it.

Part 1

3:24 p.m.

Natalie sat on the bed in her apartment, trying to think of what to do. She was off work today and though there was a chance of storms in the evening, the weather was great at the moment. She thought about taking a book down to the park to read.

But at that moment, she heard a knock at the door. A knock which would dramatically change her plans for the day.

Natalie went to the door to see who was knocking. "Who is it?" she said.

"I have a package for you" came a male voice from the other side of the door.

Natalie looked through the peephole and saw a man standing there with a box in his hand. She opened the door enough to see out but left the chain on so it would open only a few inches. "I'm not expecting..." she started to say, but another man standing beside the door, out of view, had a pair of bolt cutters and used them to snap the chain off. Before Natalie could do anything to stop them they had forced their way inside. The second man grabbed her and pinned her arms to her sides with one arm and used his other hand to cover her mouth before she could scream. The other man stepped inside and shut the door quickly.

Natalie struggled in the man's grip, but he was stronger than she was. He tightened his grip. "Don't fight or make a sound" he said, "and we won't hurt you."

Natalie's heart pounded as the man with the box opened it. He had a bag inside, a few cloths, some plastic ties, and a roll of duct tape. He picked up one of the pieces of cloth and the duct tape and approached Natalie.

"Now we're going to make sure you stay quiet" the man with the tape said. The man holding Natalie took his hand off her mouth and held her arms with both hands. She wanted to scream and fight but now that he could use both arms to hold her still she knew she didn't stand a chance.

"Open your mouth" the man with the cloth and duct tape said.

"No, please..." Natalie started to say, but as she was speaking the man stuffed the cloth in her mouth. He pulled some tape off the roll and pressed it over her mouth, keeping her from spitting the cloth out. Natalie tried to pull her arms free but the man holding her from behind had a very tight grip and had her arms pinned tightly.

The man with the tape wrapped it around Natalie's head 3 or 4 times, being nice enough to go under her long brown hair. He tore it off once he was finished and smoothed it down. The cloth filled Natalie's mouth pretty well and was a little uncomfortable. Natalie's arms were still pinned tight by the man behind her, making her helpless to resist.

"All right now let's see what you have of value here" the man with the duct tape said. He went back to his box and took the bag out of it.

The men forced Natalie to point out where she had her jewelry and some money in the apartment, which they put in the bag. With her mouth stuffed with the cloth and taped shut Natalie couldn't scream. She wanted to fight but the man who'd held her arms always kept a grip on her in some way.

Once the men got what they wanted they turned their attention back to Natalie. "Okay honey we're going to need to tie you up so you don't alert anyone about us too soon."

Natalie mumbled into her gag and frantically shook her head no, not wanting to be left bound and gagged alone in the apartment. But she was helpless to do much about it. One of the men pulled her arms behind her back as the other used one of the plastic ties to fasten her wrists together. The plastic bit into her skin a little bit as it was pulled tight and she grunted into the gag. The men then sat her in her computer chair which they pulled out from the computer desk into the open part of the room. Her ankles were bound with a plastic tie under the hem of her long skirt, then pulled up under the chair where they were fastened to the base of the chair with another plastic tie. The men then wrapped duct tape around her torso and upper arms and the chair below her breasts. More tape wrapped around her legs and the seat of the chair further fastened her to the chair. Finally the men used the duct tape to tape the wheels of the chair down to the floor, preventing it from moving, and preventing Natalie from rolling the chair to anything that she could use to cut her loose.

The men stepped back and looked at her. "I don't think she's going anywhere anytime soon" one of them said.

"We'll be long gone by the time she gets off that chair" the other one said.

Natalie's eyes were wide with fright. "Don't worry honey" one of the men said. "Surely somebody will notice you haven't been seen and come to find you in a few days."

Natalie whimpered into the gag at the sound of that. A few days? She definitely didn't want to be stuck in the chair that long. She mumbled into the gag at them, pleading with them not to leave her bound to the chair, even though she knew they couldn't understand her and wouldn't do anything if they could.

The robbers decided to leave through the window rather than risk being spotted going back out the door. They climbed out Natalie's window, careful to close the shades so no one could look in and spot Natalie bound to the chair too quickly and also turned off the lights to make it appear as if no one was home. With that Natalie was left alone, bound, gagged, and completely helpless.

3:53 p.m.

Once Natalie had enough time to get control of her fear and start assessing her situation, she started to calm down and began to think of the best way to free herself. She tested her bonds but there didn't seem to be much hope of getting out of any of them. The plastic ties dug into her wrists and ankles if she fought them very much, and the duct tape was going to be next to impossible to break out of. She tried to move the chair but the tape kept the wheels firmly fastened to the floor, leaving her an island in the middle of the room with nothing to cut herself free nearly close enough to reach. Natalie did little but work up a sweat.

4:12 p.m.

Natalie grunted into her gag, frustrated at how she couldn't seem to move much of anything. She was currently trying each of her bonds one by one, looking for a weak spot in them, but couldn't find anything that felt like it might give.

Just then Natalie heard a knock on her door. "Natalie, are you in there?" It was the voice of Sara, one of Natalie's next-door neighbors and one Natalie's friends.

Natalie saw a possible chance to get free here, if she could get Sara's attention. Even if Sara couldn't get into the apartment, she could get help from somebody who could. Natalie tried to make as much noise as possible, screaming into the gag, hoping the sound could be heard through the door.

Sara knocked on the door again. "Natalie?"

"I don't think she's home." This voice belonged to Allison, Sara's roommate. At this time Natalie wished she had a roommate of her own to come and find her.

"I thought she had the afternoon off" Sara said. Her voice was faint through the door but Natalie could make out the words. "Natalie are you not in there? We're going to have a few friends over. Kevin's coming over." Kevin was a guy Sara and Allison knew fairly well but Natalie only knew a little. She had a bit of a crush on him. She had been single for a while. Sara knew of the crush.

"Her light's off" Allison said. "If she's home she must be taking a nap and doesn't want to be disturbed."

Natalie screamed even louder into the gag, as loud as she could. If she could only get their attention she could be freed. She rocked the chair as much as possible, hoping it would squeak or make some kind of noise. But her mumbles were muffled too well by the gag. "Hmmmmm mmmmm!" was all she could make when she tried to yell "help me!"

"All right, we'll come back in a little while" Sara said. She heard faint footsteps of the two walking away.

Natalie's head slumped forward. She was so close to being freed, if she could only have gotten her friends' attention. She grunted in frustration behind the gag. So close, if she could simply get someone's attention.

5:03 p.m.

Natalie whined in frustration behind the gag. She had been trying to rock the chair loose from the duct tape holding it down on the floor with no success. Sweat dripped down her face from her efforts to free herself. Hair hung down in her eyes, which were directed at the scissors in an old cup on her computer desk. If she could get to them she could cut herself free.

Occasionally Natalie could hear someone walk by in the hall. Each time she gave a futile attempt to scream for help. "Hmmmm!" was all she could manage, and it clearly couldn't escape her apartment after being muffled so much by the cloth and duct tape over her mouth.

Natalie shifted in the chair again, and it spun to the right a little bit. That was about the only real movement she could manage. The way she was bound to the chair, with her feet pulled under it and fastened to the base of the chair, it was a bit difficult to do even that.

Natalie glanced at the window. The curtains were pulled to so she couldn't see outside but she could see the light outside. She had seen her clock and knew it was after 5 p.m. now. Though sunset was around 7, with her apartment on the east side of the building, it would begin getting dark soon. With no light on except her faint night-light, if she wasn't free by nightfall she would be trapped in near-total darkness and would really be helpless if she couldn't see what she was doing.

"Hmmmmph" Natalie grunted into her gag as she tried to work herself free of her bonds again. She didn't figure she could get out of the plastic ties, which bit painfully into her skin if she struggled against them too much, but if she could just get out of some of the tape she might be able to wiggle free enough to get to something to free herself.

5:45 p.m.

A knock on Natalie's door surprised her and stopped her thoughts on how to free herself or get someone's attention.

"Hey Natalie, you in there now?" It was Sara again.

"HMMMMM!" Natalie screamed into the gag. She jerked hard at her bonds, ignoring the pain in her wrists and ankles as the plastic ties dug into her skin. She rocked the chair as hard as she could manage.. Natalie liked to sing and had a good strong voice, and tried her best to make her voice as loud as possible. But even her voice couldn't make enough noise to be heard past the maddening gag. She could probably be heard inside the apartment but definitely not outside of it.

Natalie could hear Sara saying something, which sounded like "Where is she?" as if she was talking to herself.

"Just leave a note under her door." Natalie could barely hear the other voice, which sounded as if it came from a bit farther down the hall from her door. It sounded female, but she couldn't tell if it was Allison, or someone else.

"HMMMMM MMMMMEEE MMMMMMMMEEE!" she screamed out, almost in desperation now.

"I guess I'll do that" Natalie heard Sara reply to whoever was talking to her. "I'll go get some paper and a pen and write it down."

Natalie didn't hear anything and knew Sara was gone from the door. But she would be back shortly to give Natalie another chance to get her attention.

Sure enough, it wasn't more than a minute later Natalie could hear Sara back outside her door. Apparently Sara was writing the note on the door from the noises Natalie could hear.

Natalie sucked in her breath as best as she could and did her best to expel it in as loud a noise as she could. "HHHHMMM!" She tried screaming Sara's name as best as she could. She screamed for a couple of seconds, stopped a second, and repeated the action. But it was futile. Sara couldn't hear her. Natalie tried rocking the chair as well. Still the duct tape held it firmly to the floor.

By the time Sara had finished her note and slid it under Natalie's door, Natalie had tried screaming so much she'd run short of breath. She hung her head as she realized Sara had left, dejected.

A few tears rolled down her cheeks as Natalie started to worry she wasn't ever going to get free of her chair. Up to this point the fear and focus on escaping had kept her from getting too upset but it was finally starting to get to her.

Please let me get out of here she prayed as she tried to shake off the tears. Without her hands free they simply pooled in her eyes and blurred her vision and ran down her face uncontrollably. She simply sat there with a feeling of defeat, unable to think of anything else to do.

6:28 p.m.

Natalie's apartment was noticeably getting darker as the sun began to set on the opposite side of the building. At the same time, the storms which had been predicted were building up, making it even darker. Sunset was a short time away but Natalie's apartment was already starting to get very noticeably dark and it was getting difficult to see. This realization spurred Natalie from her state of being upset and crying and made her realize she needed to get free soon if possible because it was going to be very difficult to do so when she couldn't see.

Natalie gave another test of all her bonds trying to see if anything was loose. As usual, nothing seemed loose.

About that time Natalie heard someone right outside her door shouting down the hall at someone. It was a male voice. She didn't recognize the voice.

Natalie sucked in her breath again and gave it another shot. "HMMMMM MMMMM!" she screamed again. By this time she wasn't at all surprised when he walked on, unaware a young woman was bound and gagged and trying to get his attention just a short distance away.

"HMMMMMMMMMPH!" Natalie shouted into the gag in utter frustration this time, not trying to formulate any words. Her frustration built and she madly jerked at the bonds, ignoring the pain in her wrists and especially her ankles as she jerked hard at everything.

Natalie was so into her frustrated jerks and grunts at first she didn't even realize she'd managed to work one of the wheels of the chair loose from the tape holding it down. But then in the middle of her rage she realized the chair was tilting slightly, which it hadn't been able to do as long as she'd been bound to it.

"HMMM?" Natalie gave a puzzled sound, almost to herself. She twisted her head as much as she could and tried to see under the chair. It was difficult through the hair that had fallen in front of her eyes and the increasing darkness caused by the setting sun and building storm clouds but she could tell she'd finally managed to tear loose the tape holding down one of the 5 wheels of the chair.

Natalie made as good a noise of triumph as she could in the gag. She now had a renewed burst of energy as she realized she could perhaps find a way loose after all. She began jerking at the chair harder, trying to break the tape holding it to the floor.

I'll finish it, but it'll be a bit more time. This evil creation of the devil called "work" has gotten in the way recently.
