Kingdoms Series

Postby Writer » Sun Feb 13, 2011 12:02 am

In the kingdom of Sanduria lived a king and queen. In circa 1810 after the great Dragonia-Sanduria war, the queen died giving birth to the only heir to the throne, Prince Damien. The kingdom suffered great losses during the war, especially that of Queen Labrenna's death. However, the people of Sanduria saw her enduring, carefree spirit in the prince. As he grew up, the prince turned out to be a bit of an adventurous rapscallion, even a bit of a brat at times/ He had naturally boyish good looks. At the age of twelve, he had wavy black hair, and a tail in the back that went to his shoulders. He was fit, but skinny and always wore the clothes of the commonpeople, refusing to wear anything that referred him to nobility when he went to converse with the townspeople outside of the castle walls. He was usually brought back the the castle by his tutors or royal guards. His mentor, Ralis, nearly passed out every time he heard that the young master had escaped from the castle.

Apart from yearning a duty-free lifestyle, Damien showed little interest in any of his tutors except for Granz, his social science tutor. He was young, only 28, but had a lifetime of knowledge from travels he'd had over the years. it was because of his world knowledge savvy that he was chosen to be a tutor for the young prince. The prince loved to visit him in his study and listen to the various stories of his travels.

When Damien became 13, his rambunctious attitude increased tenfold. He would sneak out of the castle, play pranks on the noblemen during parties, and even pretended to be ailed by the bubonic plague during the Kingdom's anniversary. That caused quite a stir, and the council urged King Farinas to control his son.

But King Farinas loved the boy's independence. The two were actually quite close; they spent many weekends together out in the countryside, fencing and horseback riding. In truth, Farinas encouraged his free spirit and his dedication to the common folk. But the royal advisors had had enough of Damien's trickery... but what could they do against the king's word?

"Sire," Ralis asked him one evening, "I think it'd be wise to have Granz be in charge of the boy during royal gatherings. He would be greatly entertained by Granz's stories and would cease his playful diversions."

Farinas had agreed to this, just because the advisors were getting more and more edgy about his dealings with his son. However, the advisors were more than ready to deal with little Damien. The next evening, Ralis had asked Granz if he would show the boy what he learned in his travels to the dimension Earth and the country of Japan. Granz agreed, seeing no harm in it.

The following evening, during King Farinas' banquet with the nobles and ladies, Damien was sent to Granz, a trip he happily made. "Ah, Damien," Granz expressed when the boy came in. The boy took off his shoes, which were of noble descent. The rest of his outfit consisted of a white longsleeved dress shirt, black dress pants and black socks.

"I hate all of this dressy attire, Granz, it's soo itchy." Damien slumped onto the couch in Granz's study. "What's the story tonight, Granz?" he said with eager eyes.

"A story, and a lesson. Tell me Damien, do you know of Earth?"

"You mean the second dimension? The one that's connected to our world? Yes. Why?"

"Have you hear stories of Japan?"

"No, what is Japan?"

"It's a marvelous place. It's full of feudal lords and sword-wielding warriors known as samurai."

"Amazing! What do they do?"

"They're like the royal guard of the castle, except they live by their own rules and standards. There are also various ninja arts that few citizens there practice like ninjutsu, which is the use of magic, taijutsu which is fist-fighting, hojojutsu, the art of escaping, ju-"

"Art of escaping?" Damien was confused. "What does that mean?"

"Well, young master, a ninja has many enemies. So many, in fact, that it wouldn't surprise him if he found himself bound and gagged in their rival's own bedroom, at their mercy."

"Whoa, so what happens to them?"

"Well, that's where hojojutsu plays in. If they are skilled enough with rope, they can tie anyone up AND escape any form of bondage."

"That is very intriguing."

"Would you like a demonstration?" Damien was confused. "Here, stand up Damien and turn around."

Damien did as he was told and turned around. "What's this, Granz? A game?" Granz stood up and grabbed a bit of cotton rope that he used for securing his belonging.

"Yes, Damien. It's an escaping game. I'm going to tie you up, and you'll see if you can escape."

"Oooh, this sounds fun. What do I win if I get out?"

"Oh trust me, young master, you WON'T be."

"That sounds like a challenge, Granz! Well, get on with it then!" Granz complied and soon had Damien's arms tied tightly behind his back. He then laid Damien on his bed and took hold of his socked ankles, He tied his feet together, and using the remaining rope, connected his limbs to form a tight hogtie. "Ok, young master, I've done what I can, so now it's your turn to surprise me."

Tug and tug, but Damien could not escape. "Granz, I think you cheated! I can't get out of this..."

"Do you give up, young master?"

"... O-of course not!! Even if it takes all night, I'll get out! Hey, Granz, why don't you try torturing me, to make it like those ninja situations? I promise I won't tell father."

"Torture? People would hear you scream! Are you crazy??"

"Then use my handkerchief and stuff it into my mouth... and then wrap your scarf around my mouth. I promise I won't be loud! PLEEEEASEEEE????/" Damien was whining.

"Alright, alright, Damien. Hold on." Granz took Damien's kerchief out of his pocket and quickly wadded it and stuffed it into his mouth. Then, using the scarf that Damien had made him last winter, he wrapped it around his mouth to hold in the kerchief.
Granz had the perfect torture. He noticed that when he was tying Damien how her squirmed and giggled as he passed his fingers through his feet...

Granz held onto Damien's tied legs, and through the thin layer of sock started to tickle Damien's feet. Damien felt this and lauhed and tugged and struggled but could not free himself from Granz's grip. The gag worked wonders, he could not produce a sound. And before he knew it, Granz was spending the next two hours prodding the boy to escape, tickling him at all of his most ticklish spots, until the party was over.

Needless to say, the royal advisors were fully aware of what went on that night. And since then, they've made it a custom to bind and gag the young prince at every social occasion. Of course, they ask Granz to do it, and make it seem like a challenge. Granz told Damien that he would be undergoing escape classes with him on these days, to help him prepare for the event that he'd be kidnapped.

"Let's just pray to God that it doesn't happen," Granz said.

"Why not?" Damien snapped back, ""I'd get out and beat up my kidnappers!"

"As you are now?" Granz finished tying Damien spread-eagled on his bed. They decided to use Damien's room for lessons, since there was more space and privacy. "You can barely move a muscle." Granz brought a bandana to Damien's mouth.

"Nnggh!" Damien yelped. Damien knew from experience now that whenever Granz gagged him, he had the intention of tickling him. And in the spread-eagle, he knew he was the most vulnerable.

The night went on with Damien squirming. After the torture, Granz started telling him stories of his travels in this realm. Damien couldn't talk out since he was still gagged. Granz went on to talk about the Magi who lived in this world, and their neutrality amongst the nations. "By the way, Damien, you should know that there are 7 nations in this world: Sanduria, Dragonia, Crescelia, Janis, Brevis, Warwill, and Remora. As you know, Sanduria and Dragonia are the largest and strongest of all of the nations. Most of the Magi live in Janis but will not side with any nation."

Damien fell asleep after learning history, and it was apparent with his loud snoring. Granz sighed and untied the prince from his bed and ungagged him. He left him in his dreams.

_________________

Damien's 14th birthday was approaching. And although this would be a social gathering, the advisors could not risk having him locked in his room for the party. The nobility were brought together and the king welcomed them that night. The night was festive and the party lively, but Damien could not stand socializing with the old and fat nobles. He wanted to go to his room, and listen to Granz's stories.

Damien started ascending the steps up to Granz's room. He was in the midway hall when he heard a strange sound coming from downstairs. It sounded like footsteps, but they died as quick as they were heard. Damien went on his way.

Damien was wondering what story he would hear, or even if Granz was still awake at this hour. He started whistling to himself when he heard a rushing set of footsteps. But before he could turn around, someone had placed a hand over the young prince's soft mouth. "Mpph!!" His hands were grasped by his captor's other hand, where he quickly and expertly tied a long rope around his wrists.

"Don't try to fight, young prince." The voice was unfamiliar to Damien. But before he could turn to see, his eyes were blindfolded. as soon as his mouth was free, a large wad of cloth was stuffed in, secured by some strange sticky cloth, wrapped over and over the prince's head. His captor then laid him down and tied his feet together. Then, he was stuffed into a bag, which was tied on top. It was full of clothes and sheets. On the outside, even though Damien was struggling intensely, the bag was too bulgeous to notice. Damien was too squished to even put up a fight.

What's happening? Damien feared. Someone, please! Help me!! But all that was heard was "mmpph!" except, not even those sounds were heard through the burlap sack.

Damien struggled all he could but could not make a single attempt to free himself. Outside, he heard the sounds of the party which, at that moment, he wished he hadn't left behind. Suddenly, he heard a familiar voice.

"Milord! The prince has vanished!" it was Granz.

"He's not with you? He must be in his room, then." it was the king. The bag stopped moving. "You there! You're a bit too shady to be walking about at a grand party. Open your bag!" Then, all of a sudden, the bag started moving at mach speed.

"Mmmpphhhh!!!" Damien was getting queasy, but he dared not throw up in his gag. He heard guards rushing after him, and knights on horses.

____---
Granz knew right away from the quiet noises outside his room that something was afoot. When the masked man escaped, he knew that the prince was trapped within that sack. However, he did not know that the kidnapper would be a Magi. Granz called his steed and rushed out of the courtyard, to rescue Damien. "Stop!" he yelled at the Magi.

But the Magi soon outran the horse, and made his way out of sight. Damien was lost.
____________
Damien felt the chase, and knew that Granz had failed to retrieve him... so then what would happen now? Then, all of a sudden, he felt the bag being flung in the air. "NO!! Dammit!" the Magi screamed. In fact, he tripped, and the bag flew.

Damien braced for impact, but felt a wet landing. "Was he planning on drowning me??" He feared that he would die in the Polvac River... but then, the man did not seem to want to lose him. However, in the dark of the night, and the fast current of the river, Damien drifted out of the Magi's grasp. Damien felt the water enter the bag, and slowly, he was submerging. He tried hard to escape, but the bindings were concealed by layers of clothes and sheets.

Then, after accepting his fate, he prepared to die.....

_____________
That night, Leon, a local boy, about 13, was travelling down the road, when he noticed a bag floating along the river. Hoping to find some sort of treasure to sell to feed his family, he swam out to retrieve it. He tugged it all the way home, and took it to the stables.

"Geez, this knot is tight..." he finally loosened it and opened up the sack. He rummaged around, taking out the sheets and clothings. "Clothes.. and sheets... and--- AHH!" He soon saw Damien's head rear out. He had passed out. "Hey! Hey!!! Are you dead??' Leon slapped the boy's face hard. It was enough to bring about Damien. "Phew... for a while, I thought you were done for... What are you doing in there?"

Damien aroused himself, and took to his new surroundings. Realizing he was still bound and gagged, he called out to Leon for help. "Oh, right... I'll get that thing off of you."

Leon released Damien and helped him out of the sack. Damien was coughing and felt lightheaded.... he wanted to faint again.

"Hey!" Leon caught Damien before he hit the ground. "Don't worry, I gotcha." Leon dragged Damien onto a haystack. "Just sit right here."

"Thanks," Damien replied. "Where am I?"

"You're in my family's storage. My name's Leon, by the way."

"Oh, I'm..... Tory." Damien couldn't reveal that he was royalty to a commoner, it just wasn't safe.

"You're dressed in rather fancy clothes, Tory... are you a noble's son??" Leon anticipated a huge reward, in fact, for saving him.

"You could, uhh... say that... I'm an ordinary citizen and my family's has a little bit of wealth."

"Oh," Leon sounded disappointed. He wasn't going to wring out a regular family's money. "But... how'd you get in that sack?"

"Someone kidnapped me! I think he thought I was Prince Damien or something... All I know was that I was on my way up to the towe-- I mean, up to town, and he used some kind of magic-"

"Magic!? You were kidnapped by a Magi??" Leon retreated backwards. "I've gotta tell my parents!"

Damien got up. "Wait!" He took hold of Leon and cupped his hand over his mouth. "Don't make a fuss. It may just complicate things. I'll just leave quietly and be on my way."

"mMMmppgghh-- phaa! Your hands smell like nobility... anyways, you can't go! If you escaped, then that Magi is bound to be looking for you..." Damien thought about that for a while. "Stay low and out of sight for a while, then head home."

".... Ok. Just, keep in a secret that I'm in here. Don't even tell your parents!"

"Oh, ok. I promise! I'll get you some food, so just stay put, ok Tory?" Leon left Damien in the storage, which was located just a few feet from his house.

Damien started to ponder and fret. What in the world is happening? I can't go out, and I don't know where the castle is... there's a Magi out after me... I need Granz - HE'd protect me... Damien suddenly fell asleep on the comforting hay.

Leon came back, holding a loaf of bread, when he saw Damien asleep. "Gee.... I just KNOW he's an adventurer.... if only I could join him on his quest... for whatever he's searching for..."

_________________________________________------

The next morning, Damien awoke to a blinding light. "Wha--phh!!" Many arms surrounded him, bringing him to his feet. SOmeone stuffed a cloth in his mouth and secured it, while others wrapped rope around his entire body. Damien finally focused... he saw that same cloaked figure, surrounded by floating hands.

"Boy, did you think you could escape? You're becoming more trouble than you're worth." The Magi threw a struggling and grunting Damien over his shoulder and brought him outside. A crowd was gathered around. "Fear not, citizens, I have found the thief. Behold: he has stolen the royal necklace of Prince Damien!" He snapped off the necklace around Damien's neck and showed it to the public."

The crowd was in an uproar. People called for the death of the little theif. "Wait!" Leon stepped out from the crowd, but his parents brought him back.

"Please return to your normal morning activities while I take the thief into custody. Good day." As the Magi was leaving, Damien struggled as hard as he could. His and Leon's eyes met as he pleaded for help.

As the Magi exited the small village, he spoke to Damien. "Young prince, you musn't struggle. If you want to remain conscious, you'll shut up and enjoy the ride." The Magi threw Damien into the back of a wooden cart. It was lined with hay, so the impact wasn't horrible.

The Magi hopped into the driver's seat, and was about to head off until...

"Hey! Magi!" The accused turned around to see a young lad, holding twin blades. "Let the prince go!" Damien raised his head. It was Leon!

The Magi stepped off, and pushed Damien back into the cart. Using a piece of rope, he hogtied him to prevent further struggling and applied a blindfold. "A boy, opposing a Magi like me? You do indeed have a death wish. Why concern yourself with this foolish prince? He has nothing to do with you."

"Because... I promised last night... I'd keep him safe." Leon charged. The Magi prepared his spell. But just as he was about to fire, it disintegrated. Leon managed a scratch before the Magi retreated.

"What trickery is this? My spells won't work!!"

"Hah! My blades are made of mythril, and as long as I hold them, I'm creating an anti-magic field."

"Hmph, no matter then." The Magi pulled out a longblade. Leon gulped- he didn't expect that. "A Magi's not constricted by magic alone! You're not the only swordsman here, boy!"

Damien could only hear the conversation and the sword swings. Leon was barely dodging the Magi's quick hits and slashes. "Ahhr!!" The Magi managed a moderate cut on his left shoulder. One of Leon's swords went down. With a swift kick, the Magi pushed him to the ground. leon's mythril swords went out of reach. "And with that," the Magi said, "my powers are restored." The Magi prepared his final attack.

Damien struggled harder, he knew what was about to occur. He thought to himelf, Is my only use in this world to be restrained by ropes? I'm better than this! I'm not just a hostage!!! And as he screamed, an intense blaze encompassed Damien. In an instant the ropes that binded him incinerated and he was free. "What the-??"

"You! Back down, then/ I've got some chains that will work much better then..." The Magi inched forward and summoned his invisible hands and the magic chains. Damien was pissed.

"No! You won't tie me up any longer!!" Damien raised his hands.... a bright blue fire emerged in full blast from his palm.

"WHHHATT NO!!!!!" The Magi went up in flames. "Insolent brat! My people will return... to finish this job!!!!" The light cleared and Damien was left alone with Leon.

"LEON!" Damien rushed to the fallen hero. "Are you ok?"

"Ehh... just a minor cut. I'll be fine..... what was THAT?"

"I... don't know...."

"I think I do... that was magic!"

"Magic?? But, I'm a Sandurian, not a Magi! How could I be able to use magic?"

"I don't know, but by the strength of that blow, you're a pretty strong one."

"Well... one thing's for sure: I'll be able to free myself from Granz's hojojutsus from now on!"

Damien...

Damien.

DAMIEN!!

"AHH!" Damien bolted out of his makeshift cot. He looked left and right around the campsite but only saw Leon fast asleep on the other side of the bonfire. He gave a huge sigh and slouched his head. "What the heck was that? A strange... voice?"

-_____------______-----

"Are you sure you have everything you need dear?" Leon's mother checked her son's satchel and fretted around the little house. "Prince Damien, do you need anything else as well?"

"Ma!! It's ok," Leon said embarrased. "We'll be ok. I promisee!"

"And please, ma'am, just Damien would do," the young prince said beaming at Leon's mother.

"Now, look here," Leon's father approached them, "this isn't a game for neither of ya. Those Magi are strong... you'll have to move fast. If they come be here again, I'll give 'em a whoopin' they soon won't forget."

"Dad, I know you will. After all, I learned from the best." Leon was looking at his father. He looked back. "............ DADDY!!! MAMA!!!" Leon and his parents embraced in a sobby hug. Damien smirked and turned away. "I'll be back before you know it *sniff*".

Damien turned around. "Oh yes, please give that letter and pendant I gave you to my father. He'll provide you with safe haven and protection." Damien was pretty sure they heard... but it was kind of hard to tell with all of the wailing and crying...
-______------_______------

Damien prepared a hot cup of herbal tea from a packet Leon's mother gave them. It relaxed him to some extent and he became a bit drowsy. So drowsy.. that he began to hear things again.

Damien.... Damien... DAMIEN!!! HEL---Ppphh... But Damien soon blanked out. He passed out and fell into a deep slumber.

The next thing he knew, the sun was shining on his face and the birds' chirping awoke him. He yawned and looked over towards Leon. "G'morning Leon.. Didja sleep well?"

Leon got out of his sleeping bag and bolted right up. "Sure did! I had this amazing dream! It felt kinda real too.... these guys, they were trying to kidnap me... but I fought 'em off with my awesome sword skilss," Leon got up to get some water, "but I think I--ahhhh!" Leon landed face first into the dirt.

"Ahahaha, a little sleepy still, I think?" Damien went up to help his friend.

"No!... Hey! Something's caught in my feet!" Damien took off the blanket that covered Leon's legs. His feet, which were in his brown leggings and socks, were tightly roped together with a cord of rough rope.

"What the-?!" Damien exclaimed. "Uhmm... Leon, do you mind explaining that dream again?"

"Damien, I don't think I was dreaming... And if that's the case... GET ME OUT, WE GOTTA GET MOVING, nOW!"

Damien started to clean up the campsite. "Hey! Unntie me first!" Leon hopped over to Damien. After he was released, the boys packed up and headed towardsthe West. Damien decided that the best course of action was to gain theprotection of the neighboring kingdoms. As long as he had the royal sigil, and his trademark tail, he was instantly be recognized by the nobles and leaders.

The closes kingdom was Crescelia, the land of the nocturnal archers. They were known for having excellent hunters and endearing hospitality towards the other kingdoms. When Sanduria is under siege by barbarians, their aid is always the first to arrive.

"We need to enter the Taral Forests first," Damien told Leon. "Let's stick to the main road, so we can keep an eye out for signs and landmarks."

"Uhm.. Damien... don't you think it'd be safer to, you know, kinda stay OFF the main roads for a while?"

"Ahh, don't be such a worrywart! The enemy knows that we know that they know that we would never try to take the main roads at this time. We'll be safe."
-______-----------____-----

:tied:
:tied:

"Alright, young lads, I'll take off your gags, but you must NOT scream. Got it?" Damien and Leon were both tied to wooden chairs inside a thieve's hide-out, in a fashion that their arms were tied to the arms, and legs to legs. They were gagged with tough white rags and blindfolded as well.

"Hehehe," another bandit said. "Imagine running into two noble-boys at the crossroads! I'm pretty sure your mummsys told you that this is bandit territory!"

The gags were taken off. "Yeah, Damien!" Leon shoved the chair so that it hit Damien's. Damien's chair tilted and almost knocked off balance, had not a bandit caught it just in time.

"Hey!" Damien did the same. They began to rock each other back and forth for quite a while.

"Stop it!"

"You quit it!"

"It's you fault we're in this mess!"

The bandits were amused and laughed at the rich boys' predicament. "So, my boys... how much do you think your parents will give us for you both to be back in one piece?"

"Hold on, then fellas," Leon said, "how do you know for sure that we're even worth anything at all?"

"Well now," the head bandit said, taking off their blindfolds "soes THIS ring a bell?" he held up an insignia held by a silver chain.

"My pendant!-- oops..." Damien curtly retreated his gaze.

"I thought so. Well, have at it. Who's the rich snobs we get to plunder?"

"Uhm... they're out of town!" Damien replied. "They didn't say where they were going, so they just left me alone... even took all the maids in the house!"

"What?? I thinkyou're bluffin' boy."

"Well... what can WE do if our parents just left us like the rich snobs they are?" Leon said. "They wouldn't value their childrens' lives even if it cost them a single copper piece!"

"That's a good point... but..." the bandit snapped his fingers. In an instant, the boys chairs were on the ground, their bound feet dangling in the air. One by one, the other bandits peeled off their boots and socks.

"Hey, what're you doing/?" Damien asked. He didn't like where this was going.

"I'm pretty sure you two are keeping something from me..." the lead bandit took out a small quill. "And if you won't tell me right now... well... you will in a few minutes. Go boys." And with that, the bandits all took a foot of both of the defenseless boys and mercilessly tickled their tender, soft, and sensitive soles. The boys laughed as hard as they could and pleaded with the bandits. but after two long hours of tickle torture, they were still unable to go farther than the stray noblemens' sons story.

The lead bandit was still tickling both of them, even after the others had tired of it. "Uhm... boss? Shouldn't we, y'know... stop? I don't think they're richer than you or me..."

"Tickle-tickle-tickle!!! Come on boys, laugh it up!" the lead bandit seemed to enjoy the torture he was inflicting.

'Hey boss, it seems like you're enjoying the torture you're inflicting..."

"Hahahahahaha.... huh.. oh.... yeah, I guess I should stop." He ceased, and the boys took a moment to regain their breathes. They coughed and giggled a bit. Their chests puffed as much as their bindings would allow them.

"I- haha- told you.... we're not... rich!" Leon tried to blurt out.

"Alright, alright, fine." The bandit snapped his fingers again. The others immediately untied the boys from their chairs and gave back their boots and socks.

"Sorry for that. But you both lloked just too adorable, I couldn't pass up that opportunity..."

The boys looked at each other.

"He's weird" Damien whispered to Leon.

"I know, let's get outta here..."

"You know, it's impolite to whisper in front of someone..." the bandit startled the two when they looked forward to see him crouching down. "You know... you two remind me of myself and my young friend when we were growing up. We used to go on adventures all the time... and get into a lot of damn trouble! Well... look at what became of us.... he's off roaming the world.... I'm stuck as a bandit brigadier..." The boys looked on... Damien yawned. "Oh, I guess I should give this back. This pendant looks pretty cheap anyways..."

"Thanks!" Damien smiled. It was that boyish grin that captured the populace's hearts back home.

"Now I feel bad!! You know what? Here, I got something to make up for our misunderstanding. Just do me one favor: promise me that you boys... will remain lifelong companions. Don't ever abandon each other... And always strive to meet your dreams."

"We promise" they said in unison.

"Can we go now?" Leon asked.
--____----____----

The bandit leader saw them off in two fine young horses. They were strong and still early in age; just their sizes.

Along the road, Damien sided next to Leon, "see? Main road's ALWAYS better."

"SHut up," Leon said. "I hate getting tickled... Why didn't you just use magic to cut yourself free??"

"Well uh... because... you know..." Damien scooted back and blushed.

"What?? You don't like being tickled or tortured... do you?"

Damien looked away. Leon grinned and reached over, poking his side.

"Hey!" he did the same.

"Ahh! Haha, quit it!"

"No, you!"
"Stop!"

"Heeya!" Damien slipped his fingers and caused a tingling sensation so strong that Leon fell off his horse.

The two laughed as the sun fell. With their new steeds, the Forests were only a few miles away...

The Taral Forests were enchanted by a great forest spirit that inhabited the sacred grounds deep within. The spirit was kind and gentle, so although it could see all who entered her forests, she would not harm them unless they posed a threat to the forest.

It is for this reason that Crescelia has remained a forrested stronghold against invaders. The archers provided offerings and based their lifestyles around the forests, and so it in turn gave them protection. However, these forests are sometimes hard to traverse....

"Damien, do you know where you're headed?" Leon dragged behind, sluggishly following Damien, who made turn after turn around large towering trees.

"Of course, I do," the young prince replied. "Just about now, we'll see an archer from Crescelia..."
The two had been walking for about an hour, however they saw no clearings or signs of civilization.

"We're lost aren-- ahh! What's that?!" On the ground, something slithered by.

"Relax, it's just a vine..."

"But... it's crawling..." Leon said timidly.

"Because," retorted Damien calmly, "the forest is powered by a spirit. She animates everything around us... but she's harmless as long as we don't upset her."
