Game: 2 Truths and 1 Lie

Postby Jay Feely » Wed Dec 08, 2010 2:16 pm

The purpose of this game is to tell 2 Truths and 1 Lie about yourself. Then, the next person who posts has to guess the Lie, and post their own 2 Truths and 1 Lie. Of course, if you post, you have to tell everyone what your lie was. Make it hard. Good Luck. You must give out your answer after someone makes a guess. Whe somone gets yours correct, let another person post to keep it fair.

I'll Start

1. I was born in the middle of an earthquake
2. I have 2 brothers and 1 sister
3. I have been to Minute Maid Park only 2 times (baseball field in Houston, Texas)

Right. I'll go out on a limb here and guess that choice #1 was the lie.
BTW you haven't made it clear WHEN you indicate which choice was actually the lie. You also haven't ndicate what (if anything happens when aperson guesses wrong.
Anyway, I'll proceed with my own three options.
1. I have such extremely sensitive hearing that as a kid I could even hear a dog whistle blowing.
2. I have an IQ of 175.
3. I have a weak form of infra-red vision that enables me to see people (or other objects warmer than their surroundings) in the dark.
Yeah, Believe it or not, only ONE of these is a lie. I hope it's not too easy for you.

#1 was not my lie, it was #3. During my birth, a small tremor shook my hospital and rattled me. My parents has proof of this.

Also, I think #2 is your lie.
You will have to subdue me to restrain me. I been a bad boy so make sure you torture me too with anything but pain.

You are correct. My IQ is 'only' 135; which *still* puts me in the upper 2%; but I'm no genius. So... now what? Am I required to make another trio when I reveal truth about the last? That could be a tad awkward. Still, I'll give it another go at least.
1. I've shaken hands with Jimmy Carter; twice
2. I've met several professonal writers, including Isaac Asimov several times and Harlon Ellison twice
3. I've met one of the board members of the site once

 I do this with my students as an ice breaker.

I will say that # 3 is a lie...., though I was tempted to go with # 2.

My turn:

1. I've been questioned by the F.B.I.
2. I couldn't get myself out of self-bondage once, and struggled and cried for six hours.
3. I made toxic chlorine gas by accident once.

You're correct, Snobound; number 3 IS the lie; I've never met any of you (though I wish I could).
I'll leave someone else to guess which of your 3 options is a lie and they can add their own.

I am going to guess that #1 is the lie

my turn

1: I written to and recieved hand signed letters back from both Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr in reply
2: I own more than 200 DVDs
3: I have a passion for remote controlled aircraft, and I am currently constructing my own with my physics and tech teachers

Option one is the lie haloguy because of your age.

1) I am a descendant of Thomas Edwin Ricks through his third wife Tabitha.

2) Actually have captured Carmen Sandiego in a videogame before.

3) I met an actual professional hockey coach while living in Alberta, Canada.

Nope! It was # 3. When I was about ten a neighbor's kid mixed simple green, clorox, swimming pool shock, and some cleaners. It sent him to the hospital. I swear.... it wasn't me!

# 1 is an interesting, true story, though I'll save it for another time.

Shane: I'm betting # 2 is a lie. You're more of an Oregon Trail kind of guy!

Nope snobound. #3 is the lie. The Lethbridge Hurricanes are not a professional hockey team.

It might have helped if you had mentioned the name of the team in question before Shane, as there is nothing particularly hard to believe about meeting the coach of a professional Hockey team. I have done so myself; the coach of the Portland Pirates. Though I doubt he remembers the occasion, since he didn't know who I was.
I must be a terrible liar myself, as everyone else who has tried so far has fooled whoever guessed and I've failed twice!!!
Then again, maybe that's not such a bad thing!
Anyway, I'll try again:
1. I have been to the Tower of London
2. I have been to Fort Knox
3. I have been to the top of rhe Empire State Building

This is a hard choice Jason but I'll go with option number 2 as the lie.

Here are my next three options and I wonder who can guess the lie?

1) The hospital I was born in Idaho Falls along the banks of the Snake River no longer exists because a flood washed it away.
2) When I was a child the first vcrs used by my family were the rentable ones that you pushed in the video cassette into the top and lowered the entire thing into the machine.
3) In grade 11, I came out second place for the Grade 12 Student Body Presidentship against another student named Tim Taylor.

Fooled you Shane. I HAVE been to Fort Knox; but NOT the one that holds the gold.
There is a Fort Knox in Maine - which I visited as a young kid, I was really disappointed when I discovered it wasn't the same Fort Knox as the one I let you think I meant.
I've been to New York, but never entered th Empire State Building. :-)

Nope, #1. The hospital is gone but not by flood felled. Construction replaced it instead with a different building entirely. The Tim Taylor who defeated me now is at Harvard. Jason you are not the only one who has fooled everyone here so far.

1) I am distantly related to the original makers of Spalding sports gear.
2) In grade 8 I was in a community play called "Silhouettes Against the Storm" which told the story of the Willie and Martin Handcart companies.
3) When I graduated from high school in 2002, the guest speaker was Jesse Ventura.

is it number 3?

1.At the first school i went to I was popular with everyone and heralded as a athlete
2.My hometown is now overrun with french people. (not thats theres anything wrong with french people)
3.I am blood-line related to a member of the Hashshashins

Re: Game: 2 Truths and 1 Lie

Postby Chase Ricks » Thu Dec 09, 2010 11:50 am

Nope. #2 is the lie. The play was not a community one at all.

Reaper I guess #2.

1) I attended my first Kiwanis Festival in Grade 6.
2) At the Potato Expo in Blackfoot Idaho, "free taters to out of staters." This includes actual potato flavored ice cream.
3) In Idaho Falls, at one point you could walk across the river using the railroad tracks on the bridge or the legal bridges themselves but now there is a wooden pedestrian bridge route over the canyon for those not afraid of heights.

I am going to guess #3

oh, and you got it right, my lie WAS #1

1: Generally I carry about $200 in my wallet at one time
2: I own more than 11 rolls of duct tape
3: I have an extensive collections of wallets, ranging from stingray skin, to duct tape, to stainless steel fiber

Re: Game: 2 Truths and 1 Lie

Postby Chase Ricks » Thu Dec 09, 2010 1:36 pm

#1 was the lie. First attended in Grade 5.
Hmmm think I'll go with #3.

1) On one site, I am ranked Hokage because I have the most posts.
2) On Gaia Online, I once created a rp where I fought as both my "evil" sister and my good self.
3) Took me only three hours to read "Towers of Minnight" the second to last book in "The Wheel of Time" series created by the late Robert Jordan. The book in question has 861 pages.

Nope, it is #2, I only own 5 rolls

I am going to guess the Gaia online thing

1: i have seen every single star trek episode in every series
2: I have an IQ of 144
3: i have a subscription to 7 magazines

Re: Game: 2 Truths and 1 Lie

Postby Chase Ricks » Thu Dec 09, 2010 4:00 pm

Nope. #2 is not the lie, but #1 is. I can easily provide the link to both if any are interested. I am guessing that #2 is the lie haloguy.

1) In the summer between my 3rd and 4th grades at Cloverdale Elementary School, arsonists torched the inside. However the fire was put out and the inside totally restored in only two months.

2) In junior high school, I ended up getting hit by a slapshotted whiffle ball in the chest during a noon hour lunch game of floor hockey in the gym.

3) A millionare is my uncle on my mom's side.

Nope, number 3 is a lie, i actually do have the IQ of 144

I am going to guess #1, number three is pretty obvious, since 1 in about 100 americans is a millionaire

1) I have an iPad, xbox, Mac book pro, ipod touch, iPod nano, iMac, and an apple tv
2) yes, i can eat only one
3) i once shook hands with William Shatner

Re: Game: 2 Truths and 1 Lie

Postby Chase Ricks » Thu Dec 09, 2010 4:58 pm

Oh you were so close, you practically tripped over your foot before crossing the finishing line. I actually have an uncle on my Canadian stepfather's side. lol I guess #1 because the second option makes absolutely no sense haloguy.

1) As a child my favorite song was "God Bless America."
2) Before the age of eight, I had lived in eight different cities/towns in daho alone.
3) I have stood on the top of the Calgary Tower and not suffered frostbite during a blizzard in wintertime.

Yes, it does make some sense, on the back of lays chips, it says " no, you can't just eat one", which I can

I am going to guess 3 is a lie

1) I have to eat veggies once every 24 hours or i feel sick
2) my bmi is only 19
3) the green lantern rocks

Re: Game: 2 Truths and 1 Lie

Postby Chase Ricks » Thu Dec 09, 2010 5:14 pm

Nope it was #2. I was never caught so that is why no record has been made publicized about it ever. I am going to say #2 is your lie, haloguy.

1) A few weeks before Grade 12 started, I was on a Young men/ young women outing and was the only one who climbed down a canyon to get to a reservoir canal for swimming while the rest jumped in.

2) Before moving to Barnwell, Alberta, Canada in 1995, I had only once visited said country in my entire life.

3) Everywhere but where I live now, disaster always follows me.

nope, #3 was the lie, I really dislike the green lantern, seriously, a superhero who derives his power from a RING? LOTR rip off

I am guessing that #3 is the lie

1) I read all of the Lord of the Rings Books
2) I read all of the Harry Potter Books
3) I read all of the Sherlock Holmes Books (52 short stories)

Congratulations. You finally deciphered the truth from the lies about me for the first time. Now then I shall think most carefully indeed about your three choices haloguy. I'll pick #2.

1) I have read every single mystery detective book written for children, teenagers and adults.
2) For one field trip in elementary school, my class got to ride a train for only a few miles.
3) I wrote the following poem at the viewing for my uncle and cousin back in 1993:

When walking around in the light of the peaceful sun,
There are lots of blessings to enjoy.
Fresh air, hope, and beauty abound
And always carry a smile on your face.

Smiling can be a simple grin or even a wide open O.
But I find that it helps me out so I can have a good day around.
So don’t let uneasiness and doubt weigh you down
But smile and let your heart rise about.

#1 is your lie

1. I have been to no more than 12 states in USA
2. At the age of 11, I broke my ankle playing soccer and spent 3 days in the hospital
3. I have been to at least 2 countries aside from Canada and China in my liftime.

This one is really tricky, so think long and hard.
You will have to subdue me to restrain me. I been a bad boy so make sure you torture me too with anything but pain.

Sorry Jay but you are wrong. The third one is the lie. I actually wrote the poem at a different viewing, my grandmother's in December 2006. Now then which of your options is the lie I will now pick... #1

1) Once coming out of counselling I saw an uncle of mine in the waiting room. Now him and my aunt are divorced.

2) My youngest sister was born just a few weeks before I moved to Canada in 1995.

3) The oldest of my three younger sisters is pregnant so next year I will become an uncle again.
