Fox News is no more balanced than the Federal Budget, from what I've seen and heard of it. Many other news networks, left or right, aren't much better in this regard but Fox has no right to brag. It isn't nicknamed Faux News for nothing.

True Jason, quite true. But everybody tells lies, or else they wouldn't have any viewers, and wouldn't even exist in the first place. Propoganda at its finest.

But what is funny is that I was watching a TV show lat weekend and they they said that Fox News is fair and balanced but was not on Fox.

Fox News must be doing something right, otherwise they would not be the #1 rated cable news outlet. If you believe that claim to be false, the network and cable ratings book is available at most public libraries' reference departments in the US. Or you can Google "Cable news ratings."

Considering how the people who supposedly hate it always seem to know what it's saying, doing, and reporting as much as they rant and rave about it, it's pretty easy to see why it's #1.

They must be watching. But if they hate it so much, why? Why would someone subject themselves to programming they find abhorrent?

Simple: to watch how political propoganda is spread by right-wing ideologues and pray that stupid Americans don't buy into it.

Unfortunately, too many do (see Jay leno's Jay Walking clips to see just how stupid we are!).

Spoken like a true Democrat spin doctor. :-) But with so many "liberals" out there, shouldn't BSNBC . . . . . err . . . . . MSNBC be on top?

Hey DS- You are a pretty good writer but you should call it the Democrat-TIC Party. Calling it the Democrat Party is a tad petty. I think that goes back to the McKinley Campaign. Sen. Joe McCarthy used that in the 50s and Rush Limbaugh brought it back about 5 years ago. I guess it's popular because it ends with the word rat. I don't hear liberals refer to the Republic Party. Even Sean Hanity refers to the Democratic Party. BTW I'm not a partisan animal.

I've seen how the Democrats operate, and the party often falls far short of being democratic (small "d"). Just look at the so called "vote" to put God back in the party platform, and to recognize Jerusalem as the capitol of Israel. It's supposed to take a two thirds vote of the delegates to change the party platform, and even after three voice votes, it was obvious that the proposals had far less then the two thirds needed. But the chairman ruled by fiat, and after the third vote, declared that the motion had passed.

That may have been a good thing, but those watching were treated to the spectacle of many delegates loudly booing after the chairman decided the motion passed. Some news outlets and blogs said that the Democrats booed God. Not exactly their shining hour.

The Republicans didn't exactly shine either when they refused delegates from my own state who supported Ron Paul instead of Romney. Even the hyper-conservative governor (one of the delegates) refused to attend when this happened. So Republicans aren't exactly committed to the principles of the majority vote either.

There are stupid people on both sides (and in) of the center. If you went to some of them in 2008, some said that the republicans held a huge majority in congress.

Fox news has a republican slant to it. I rarely watch TV except while at work doing something simple and know this. They may shout and beat the democratic news casters and their ideas down, but at least they have them.

Maine is doing something similar. Right now a former Maine governor (who was an Independent and helluva lot better than the current governor I might add) is running for Senate to replace a senator who is giving up her seat. His name is Angus King.
So... essentially Maine may be putting a King in Congress. :big:

And MSNBC does not carry the nicknames "BSNBC" and "MSDNC" without good reason. CNN is the "Communist (or Clinton) News Network," ABC is "About Barack Constantly," and the others in the "alphabet soup" of networks have similar monikers.

That could well be true, Drawscore. I couldn't say, as you probably watch more of these in a day than I do in a year. This hardly disproves my point though, does it?
Your statement is probably just more of your conservative bias, but in any case I really do not care. As I believe I have said before, I don't watch (except on an erratic and very infrequent basis when I am stuck in a waiting room or something) nor trust ANY of the TV News networks... they're probably all biased one way or another.

Well, Jason, I'm glad you recognize that they are biased. Too many others think Chris Matthews, Ed Schultz, Rachel Maddow, Lawrence O'Donnell, and Keith Olbermann are pillars of journalistic integrity, without a biased bone in their bodies.

I honestly don't know any of them from any other; the only one I even rcall hearing of before is Olbermann, and I know nothing of his politics (except that, by your lights, he is obviously liberal).
I'm not terribly familiar with the conservative ones either except Cavuto and O'Reilly - and neither of them (especially O'Reilly) impresses me as being fair-minded or even particularly worthwhile human beings. In fact, O'Reilly seems to be one ignorant mofo. It's as if Archie Bunker had gotten his own talk show.

Even if someone claims to be conservative it would be nice if they had some intellectual consistency. Jon Stewart had the above great piece on last night showing contrary statements from Sara Palin, Sean Hannity and Dan Senor, a Romney adviser. Amazing!

For a good article on what makes Fox News tick go to http://www.rollingstone.com and type in ROGER AILES in the search engine. They had a great 13 pqge article from June of 2011 about How Roger Ailes Built the Fox News Fear Factory by Tim Dickinson. You may or may not get a paywall. It's about Roger Ailes who calls the shots at the network. You also may find a print copy in the archives of a large library in your area. Just look for Lady Gaga on the cover of the Rolling Stone!

I find it very funny actually :big: Still the only two things i watched about Fox news where this and something about the ''evil sex simulator'' Mass Effect and both seemed to be outright lies so...what news did they report again?

There seems to be a lot of doubt about that lately... although of course there are certain other people who can't seem to see this.
Here's another example of Fox News' 'fair and balanced' reporting:

The biggest topics in the news being talked about seem to be dealing with the presidential election, economy/taxes, crime and climate.

Climate...this is the one area where there is a possibility Fox news is right (not politically speaking). Is the climate changing, yes. Have people influenced the climate, yes. The problem is with how much. Is it only on a local level, or would the earth be headed for a global freeze or status quo if it wasn't for 'man.' They say climate gate was debunked, but they still said they don't use data because it doesn't fit. Until they can show why it doesn't fit, if they don't use it, they are manipulating the data. Don't forget, unless it is proven not only beyond a shadow of a doubt, but can be reconstructed/modeled 100% of the time, global warming/climate change is only a 'theory', not a 'law'.
