How should I get into TUGs?

Postby hrrrumph » Thu Oct 02, 2014 1:50 pm

Even though I've had an interest in TUGs for a long time, I've never tied anyone, been tied, or told anyone about my interest. I was thinking of posting in the directory, but I'm not sure I want to put my location there. I was also thinking of finding some kind of meetup around next summer, but I'd still be pretty young so I don't know if I would feel out of place. Thoughts?

Usually a challenge does it without raising any eyebrows. A while back, I entered a short story in the short story contest, based in on incident from my youth (my best friend and I were 13; his little brother was 2+ years younger). Lee was in to magic, and for his birthday, his parents had gotten him several new tricks at the magic store, including a pair of magician's handcuffs.

After mastering the trick, Lee quickly started bragging that he could escape from anything. That is, right up until the morning when I had slept over, and Larry came in to Lee's bedroom, and said something to the effect of "So you're a great eescape artist, huh?" Lee replied that he could get out of anything.

"Bet'cha don't get out if I tie you up!" Larry challenged.

You are 13. You have been challenged by your six weeks shy of 11 little brother, in front of your best friend. What are your options? That's right. You don't have any.

After tying Lee, Larry looks at me, and says "I got some rope left over. You wanna try?"

I declined, mostly because Lee looked funny all tied up, and I was having trouble controlling my laughter.

And the hell of it was, that he couldn't get loose.

The part of it I remember well, was the exchange between Lee and me after Larry and I untied him. He was still grumbling, and said we should have left him alone; that he could have gotten himself free. I said "Yeah, Lee, right. You were tied up for a half hour, and were no closer to getting out, that when Larry first said you could start. But it could've been worse."

"Wha'da'ya mean, it could'a been worse?" he asked.

"Well, he could'a come in to the room five minutes earlier, before we got dressed, and tied you up in your pajamas." I laughed.

He gives me a dirty look, and said "Don't you even think about givin' him an idea like that!"

Another way, is to dream up games that involve getting tied up, like our version of "hide and go seek." Most of the time, the players were between 10 and 14, but we did have an occasional 9 year old, and a couple of 15-16 year olds.

Depending on the number of players, one to four were chosen to be "it." "It" would be taken to the base and tied up, but not too well, because we wanted him to get loose, and come chase us. Once he got loose, he captured the rest of us by pulling a flag from our belts. Once captured, we were taken to the base and tied up, usually a lot better than we had tied him.

If you could get loose, you were back in the game. If not, you sat at the base tied up, until the last player was caught, became the next "it," and the game began again. You could escape on your own, but could not help another captured player escape, nor could anyone help you.

There was a modification that we called "team chase," usually with three teams. The object was to capture the other players, take them to your base, and tie them up until you had all of the opposing players captured.

We had several rules and practices, such as not leaving someone tied up alone. (He might think he was tied up alone, but there was always someone close, just in case.) Also, no rope above the shoulders or around the neck, and "let the little kids win once in a while." It boosted their confidence, and kept them interested.

Now, I don't know what "pretty young" means - whether you're a young teen (13-14), a middle teen (15-16), or an older teen (17-18-19), and the games I mentioned are geared toward pre-teens (10-11-12), and younger and middle teens. Suggesting them might be awkward for an older teen. If you are an older teen, then the challenge or dare ("I bet I can get out if you tie me up," or vice versa.) is probably your best option.

Questions:

1) Boy or girl?

2) Do you want to restrain yourself or have others do it for you?

3) How extreme do you want to go?--Ropes and normal gags or tight bindings and adult gags?

DS is absolutely right. If you want relevent info a "youngun" like you can best use, tell these folks where you fit into the mix. What may be fun for a 19 year old may be terrifying to a 12 year old. Our goal is for everyone to have as much fun as they can. I see you're already getting a lot of good advice which i had also used at the appropriate ages mentioned. so... what you're already getting does work. Have fun....

I like these suggestions but there are hardly any people I know well enough. I'm 17 right now.

Questions:

1) Boy or girl?

Boy

2) Do you want to restrain yourself or have others do it for you?

Have others do it; it's never happened to me and I've restrained myself plenty of times. Did you assume I hadn't, or was it a question about learning how to do it?

3) How extreme do you want to go?--Ropes and normal gags or tight bindings and adult gags?

Ropes and normal gags is what I'm going for, although the second thing sounds OK at times. I am, however, concerned about going further than I actually want.

Also I am pleased that my previous post is the one that got me the "Kidnapped" flair. :D

Do you want a girl or guy to tie you up?

the "I'll bet you a buck you can't keep me tied up." Usually works at almost any age or sex. Have fun... (ps - talk about safe words before they get started)

As I said there isn't really anyone I can do this kind of thing with (even games like that), so that's why I came here to find out ways I can do it in the future.

start meeting people directly --- the "net" won't do it. Soon you'll find a few buddies you can joke with and have fun. Then at the start of a bad tv show, spring it on them (him, her, it...).

Another way, is to invite someone over, and be sure and have a video playing, where someone gets tied up. When the scene comes up, your comment would be "That's so bogus! If I was tied up like that, I'd be loose in five minutes!" Then just hope your guest takes the hint.

There are some people with whom subtlety works. There are others that are as dense as an anvil. Those are the ones you have to walk up to, hand them several pieces of rope, and say "Please tie me up."

But don't be too obvious. A bandana laying around that you can say you use for a headband, is OK; so is a short (6-8 feet) piece of rope, but you need a good reason for it being there, like "I use it to play with the cat."

Is there a way I can do TUGs with someone who is familiar with them?

Yes close friends or family members might be possible at the start if you dont want word to get out

Subtle hints, like, again, the video playing, and a comment to the effect of "When I was ten years younger, my friends and I used to play games where we got tied up. Cops and Robbers; Cowboys and Indians, that kind of thing. Sometimes I wish I could go back and do it again. It was fun being 7 (or 8, or 9, or 10).

People who engage in TUG's should immediately recognize the "hint." Those that don't, will simply let it go over their heads, and dismiss it as your yearnings for a simpler time.

Probably, but how are you going to know, unless you hear it from someone, or ask directly?

Again, ask someone over, have the video playing where someone gets tied, and just make a casual comment like "My friends and I used to tie each other up when we were 12 and 13. Sometimes, I wish I could go back and be 12 again."

OR

"When I was 12-13, I was pretty good at getting loose from being tied up."

At 17, subtle hints can, but don't always, work. But you don't know unless you try.

DS had good advice. Another i have found to work is to brag you can get out of any ties and you're getting disappointed that you can't find anyone to help in your escape artist training. If you brag enough, and keep interrupting the good movie for them, you're liable to get your wish so they can finish the movie in peace. Worked for me....

you don't get into TUGs by immediately saying "hey I like XXXYZZZ or this move where someone was tied up"

Of course, if you have a university with a fetish society, that is another matter.
