The Middle East Quagmire

It appears that events in the Middle East are degenerating fast, perhaps faster than anyone can assimilate what is happening. This editorial from Drawscore's favorite newpaper highlights some of the issues quite well, and indicates where things may be headed.

To me it resembles someone standing at a gas (petro) station pump smoking a cigarette--so stupid and preventable. I feel that You Tube should have taken down that insulting video a long time ago.

Go figure.

Oh, so now you are in to censorship of opinions you don't like? Here's a clue: "Freedom of speech" means freedom of speech for everybody, not just the people with whom you agree.

All in all, I'd say Jack's assessment is quite mild compared to what people in the Middle East are saying - and doing. The way things are going, Muslim fanatics are going to turn the entire region into a bloodbath. If you think this video is worth all the hassle we're likely to face over this, perhaps you'd like to sign up for the military, Drawscore!
I'm not against ALL Muslims, but that video sure does seem to be showcasing what uncivilized people we still have to contend with over there.
Come to think of it, the Muslims I've met right here in the US make pretty lousy neighbors too. Hate to say it, but... sometimes I wish they'd all just up and die. I'm sick to death of all their hyper-sensitivity about Mohammed and the Koran. Even Christians at their worst haven't been this intolerant in centuries.
Dare to be different... and make a difference.
To boldly go where no one in their right mind has gone before...

I spent three years in the military, and my father was career military, thank you. I also have a cousin over in the sandbox right now.

There is an old saying about fighting fire with fire. You don't play nice with terrorists. You use the same tactics on them, that they use on us.

Hell, I got upset when some idiot inverted a crucifix in a beaker of urine and called it "art," but I did not run out and kill anyone.

And as for bin Laden, he should have been buried in a kneeling position, with his ass toward Mecca, and in six feet of pig shit. And the film given to Al-Jazeera.

You know what freedom of speech isn't? A free lichence to piss people off just because. Common sense should always prevail! That video wasn't a message of freedom it was a sensless provocation, yeah, that idiot who made it wanted this to happen for god knows what reason and the family of the killed ambasador have every right to be angry at him too. Freedom of speech is great and all but its also open to abuse as mr idiot filmmaker proved. If you start pulling stunts you know gets people killed then you should not do it! or in Youtube's case oppose it! not because you hate ''freedom'' but because you have a brain that works!

Also i feel the need to point something out. Yes there where demonstrations in Libya involving the US...and they where demonstration of symphatie, Libya's social media is condeming the people who did this and the general opinion is pro American in Libya. So it happened in Libya but nothing more, the people there do not aprove of this,

With freedoms, come responsibilities and consequences. The oldest adage to that effect, is that freedom of speech is not a license to yell "FIRE!!!" in a crowded theater.

Another one, is that your freedom to swing your fist through the air, ends at the point of my chin.

And I piss people off every day. Some times it's inadvertent. Other times it's deliberate. Still others, I have no control. It just happens.

And you're right, common sense SHOULD prevail. Unfortunately, that commodity appears to be in very short supply. Especially in this crowd running the country at the moment. Obonehead and/or his surrogates let it slip that it was SEAL Team Six that took out bin Laden. A couple of weeks later, a helicopter carrying some members of SEAL Team Six gets shot out of the air. Coincidence?? I don't think so.

As for the film, it was made more than a year ago. They knew it, and just used it as an excuse to attack America on the anniversary of 9-11.

The video is an excuse. There are plenty of people over there who don't really need a reason to attack the West, specifically the United States, but having one makes it more likely we'll look at ourselves as the problem. Which, coincidentally, is exactly what we're doing. They may be nuts but they aren't idiots.

On that note, the video does sound like utter garbage and should have never seen the light of day. But make no mistake, the murderers are at fault here.

And the film was made by an Egyptian.
