Traditionally "cloakroom" but these days the cloakroom tends to be a euphemism for a downstairs WC.
It comes from the French word meaning travelling cloak. It was/is the room where one hangs one's cloaks. As not many people wear claoks these days, it's where the coats, jackets, boots, etc are stored (also used for throwing rubbish out of sight of visitors!).

I wouldn't use "vestibule", that implies a "through room" between an entrance and another.

On your plan it might be a cloakroom. Or it could be a vestibule as long as the entrance door leads directly to it.

That makes it a vestibule. It might be used as a cloakroom. Use either.

Depending on the arrangements within the room itself, it might also be called a "walk-in closet."

I don't think closets (not a word we use much in Britain) usually have a door to the outside!

Hallo, think closet is not what I mean. After what I get as translate is a closet more wardrobe that is integrate in the house.
For me now is best explanation a vestibule that is used as cloakroom.
In some home it would only the floor with a coat rack in it.
thank you very much

Considering its proximity to the dining room and kitchen, it might also be called a pantry.

Pardon me for mixing in, but isn't 'foyer' the word you have been looking for?
A foyer in a public building can be a large space, but in a house it is usually a small entry area or room by the front door.

Well, I can tell you that I have heard the word 'foyer' spoken a number of times, but never have I ever heard anyone use the word vestibule! :-)
Oh it's a legitimate word all right; I've evenseen it in print a few times. But it's one of those obscure words you never hear spoken aloud - ever!

Don't worry, Andrew, I'm editing your story into English, not American. I think "vestibule" in context is appropriate, it avoids the ambiguity of the British use of "cloakroom".

American is not a language. And believe it or not, American English is closer to old English than Modern British English.

Yes, I believe it is. I've often wondered why.

In my opinion English, American, Doric and Lallans are different languages that share a common root but which were separated by several centuries before the advent of electronic broadcatsing. They have different grammars[*], different verbal declensions[**] and different vocabularies[***].

[*] "You have to, don't you" (not the best example but it's 01:40 BST at present).
[**] "gotten" (yes, I agree about the older form of tha language), etc.
[***] Pissed, fanny, closet, faggot, restroom, lift, etc.

Before the excellent Drawscore points it out, I know this isn't an original argument but it's always fun to pursue.

Wassail!
