The Gaelic war

Postby Chris12 » Sun Jan 03, 2016 12:33 pm

I'l be trying to make my return as a tug writer with this slightly more ambitious story. As the title says the setting will be the Gaelic wars which was how the Romans took control of ancient barbaric France.

I'm going to be clear hear because I think that intro just scared half the readers off :odd: You do not need to know about history to read this story. If that was required...I wouldn't have been able to write it either :quirk: I'm just giving my story an interesting setting which I'm certain has not been used before and lends itself to both tie ups and fighting. The set up would generally be that a chapter starts with a battle or an ambush and once the fighting has been done someone will have been made a prisoner of war.

For now I'l just introduce the cast of characters and judge whether or not the reaction to it speaks of enough interest for me to continue.

The Gauls: The main heroes of the story will be the Gaelic Lutair clan and their retainers.

Alan: The nineteen year old son of the clan's chieftain. Alan is a tall, broad shouldered blonde with the muscles befitting a warrior. Everyone knows he will one day lead the whole clan and thus he serves as the leader of a new generation of warriors. A true warrior through and through he wants to protect his home in battle.
As chief's son Alan can afford to enter battle with the best armor available. Under his green coat is a fully metal chainmail, his head is protected by a helmet of solid steel and his shield is made of steel as well. His combat weapon is the sword.

Cael: The middle brother of the chief's children. Cael is not a warrior and the opposite of his brother Alan in many ways. Where Alan is strong Cael is thin and shorter then most fifteen year old's. The only thing the brothers have in common is their blonde hair which comes to Cael's shoulders. Not truly fit for battle Cael acts like the clan's logical minded strategist and as such is an advocate for allying themselves with the Romans and reaping the rewards.
These things made Cael somewhat of the unfavorite child in the Chiefs eyes. Part of the reason for Alan's fully steel armor is because the ''weaklings'' equipment came on the cheap. The only metal equipment Cael has is his helmet. Otherwise his battle attire consist of a cape and some pants. He does not wear much of a shirt. He wields a bow in battle.

Carlin: The youngest son at 13 years of age. Unlike Cael Carlin is more like his oldest brother. A good amount of warrior training made him tall and muscled(more so then Cael in fact), and like Alan he is more of a straight up warrior. Carlin is a nice boy and tries to keep the peace between his older brothers.
Strong, simple and warrior minded Carlin is the replacement heir Cael failed to be. If Alan fell the clan would go to Carlin. As such he is better equipped. He wears a chainmail as well but one which only covers his sides. The rest of his body is guarded by leather and fur

Drystan: A cousin of the Lutairs and at the age of twenty already an fully fledged warrior. He is a bit larger then Alan and has brown hairs. He is also able to afford a chainmail and wields and axe.

Ewan and Ewen: These 14 year old red haired, freckled tricksters serve as scouts and in some case an ambush duo to wandering Romans. Their cheeky smiles never seem to fade even at in the thick of war. They are commoners and thus unable to afford much armor. Instead they wear regular clothing. Not able to afford swords either they wield knives.

Finian: Cael's best friend. They may have bonded over how similar unwarrior-like they are. The friends share the same age and build but while Cael is just scrawny Finian is downright girly. His long blonde hairs are even longer then his friend and he has a very feminine face.
Finian is not a warrior but a druid and is actually forbidden to fight. Circumstances my force his hand however.

Glen: A 16 year old warrior. Strong and reliable. Glen is a brown haired boy from the local fishing village and as such knows a thing about sailing. He has an armor of fur and leather and wields a sword.

Kylan and Regan: Two cousin's and both grandchildren from a famous warrior. For their skills they were awarded chainmails for battle. The two share a strong build. Kylan has brown hair in a ponytail and Regan has black hairs. With their spears and shields they usually serves as guards for the chiefs children.

Romans:

Marcus Crassus: The 19 year old son of the richest man of Rome who's one of Julius Caesar's closest associates. That is how Marcus is here and how he got the rank of legate. Crassus senior is a man feared by all, a fervent slave dealer, backer of armed thugs and the suspected mastermind of many shadowy conspiracies. This fear is directed to Marcus as well but without merit. Marcus us a friendly young man who wishes to make peace with his fathers enemies, most notably fellow legionnaire Sextus. He is also much more capable then his rise through nepotism would suggest.
To show off his fathers wealth his Roman armor is decorated with gold and pearls.

Sextus Pompeus: The son of Rome's greatest war hero who is also a close associate of Caesar. At 14 Sextus is a bit on the young side but everyone in the army can already see that one day he will become a general to be feared. Legionnaire training had done Sextus well as it gave him a good strong build. His face was still a bit boyish though and his long black hairs gave him a more gentle look then his good build would normally have given him. Sextus wasn't in the war for his personal power however, his true contribution lay in his tactical ideas.
His fathers reputation made him a bit haughty but Sextus is a good lad and more humane than most Romans or Gauls. He is wary of both Caesar and Marcus who's father is a fierce rival of his own.
Unlike most Romans the clothing under his armor is dark blue rather than red.

Thebecus: Sextus slave and a gladiator. Years of fighting in the arenas made Thebecus appear older then he actually is. The muscular body would imply an adult but underneath the helmet is something of a baby face. Thebecus is only 15, just a year older than his charge Sextus who he is devoted to.
Thebecus wields the typical gladiator army...not much at all. He has a helmet to fully cover his face, a shoulder plate and some pants. In battle he wields a trident and an iron net.

Cormag: The son of a clan leader who sided with the romans. The Chief in question is a rival of the Lutair chief and he himself is one of Alan. Cormag is blonde and tanned without a particular strong or weak build. Like Alan he is fully armored and in battle he dual wields two axes.

Porcius: The son of Rome's sternest senator and Caesar's greatest political foe. Porcius...or rather Porcia, the daughter not the son is actually in the legion to assassinate Caesar for her father. Despite that mission she is a nice girl, affectionate to her fellow soldiers and a bit of a geek when it comes to clasic tales. She hides her feminine looks with a helmet and with some acting lessons she forces her voice to have a more boyish pitch.

Sounds interesting so far... Let's see where you go with it...

Omg! Your set up for the story seems to be really awesome :D!! Besides that, you took the first step and came with must be a really original story :D!

I mean, today is very common to find contemporany TUG stories about several types of situations and combination of sexuality too, but there is a REALLY small amouth of TUG stories about different time perpective or even in another universe, like medieval, fantasy or even ancient stories like yours!

Particularly, I am very excited about this story x3! I really like the idea of great warriors or knights from ancient ages getting themself in some kind of bondage situation that could have existed that time :D! And the idea of be a prisioner or war (POW) seems to be really great too :D! I can already imagine a big and powerfull warrior like Alan being captured, tied up, gagged and on his knees in front of Marcus or something like that >w>! This will be REALLY interresting xD! I just hope not see too much violence on the story, but I can understant that that time was kind really difficult and serious too.

I cannot wait for you story, dude :D!
Imagine that this is you~

Chapter one: Treason

Just a mere hour before dawn hundreds of barbaric soldiers emerged from the nearby woods. Their prey would be the Roman camp, housed on the plain before them.

''So you returned'' Alan, the blonde heir of the Lutair clan said as his little brother arrived on horseback.

''I am'' A younger, thinner blonde nodded and dismounted before his brother ''The Aedui clan promised their support. Their cavalry is already on the way, they should make it before the battle is over''

''Cormag's guys huh....darn'' Alan groaned. Their father the chief HATED the Aedui clan and Alan shared that hatred for Cormag, the heir of that clan ''Lets just hope those milk drinkers can be counted on. Still, nice job of actually getting them to speak to us Cael...I guess''

Cael couldn't help but noticed the praise came out a bit forced ''...Thank you. Now is everyone ready on our end? Ewan?'' He turned to a red haired boy.

''Sure is! The main Roman army is gone, general and all'' Ewan grinned ''If I had to guess then only 150 men remain in that fort''

''Good thing you don't have to guess then!'' A second red head identical to the first jumped out of the highest tree's ''I took a good peek and yes! 150 men remaining. The place is as good as ours''

''Looting time!'' The twins happily cheered.

''Bah. Its all so cowardly. We should just take on the whole Roman army'' Alan grumbled ''If we don't think we can take them on than why should THEY think seriously of us!'

''Calm brother. You will get that wish someday. In part you will even get it today'' Cael frowned. He considered his brothers wish suicidal ''We are already fighting a Roman legion, they are deadly even in small numbers so you will get your glory''

''....Perhaps. You should get to your position. Fire at will brother'' Alan ordered and pointing to a nearby hill. Both brothers paused before proceeding but neither wished each other luck or told them to be careful. Each went their separate way.

''I'l protect you so please don't worry'' Glenn, a brown haired and decently equipped teenager smiled at Cael.

''Thank you. Now lets win this battle the smart way'' Cael smiled. The young warrior took a brigade of archers and moved to a hill conveniently looking over the Roman camp. From here they could shoot arrows down at the fighting Romans.

-------------

''That's it men! Everyone! chaaaaarge!'' An exited Alan yelled. An hour had passed, the sun was now up in the morning sky and in that time the Gaelic horde had broken through the gate. They were now fighting in the camp itself.

''Well look at that!'' Through the combat Alan could see a Roman in highly decorated armor coming his way ''Looks like the commander himself has come to have some fun!''

''Barbarian cur! You may have played a trick on us but don't think we are harmless without our commander around!'' Marcus took a throwing spear of his back and threw it towards Alan. He had three of those spears on his back, each sharp enough to kill.

''I wanna get up close for his hits! Drystan!'' Alan called for his cousin.

''Got it! Seems like the kid doesn't want it'' Drystan smiled and slashed the incoming spears with his axe.

''Who are you calling a kid! I am an adult, same age as yo-argh!'' The flustered Marcus was interrupted by Alan hitting his face, or rather his helmet ''Fine..close combat it is then'' He drew his sword and charged at Alan.

The Roman sword as the gladius, a much shorter blade which allowed for easy maneuverability and the ability to easily cut. Alan's greatsword was more suited for brute power. This was how the two fought. Alan making powerful swings and Marcus dodging around him, trying to either cut or take a quick stab at an important artery.

''Ngg....Quite the little dancer aren't you'' Alan growled as he received a cut in the leg. Suddenly he lunched forward to grab Marcus

''What fool charges a man with a shield!'' Marcus tried to raise his shield in defense but suddenly ''Ow!...b-by...nrgg...'' Suddenly an arrow burried itself in the Roman's shoulder.

''By the gods...we should all praise Cael for that shot'' Alan said somewhat amazed as he grabbed the incapacitated Marcus in some sort of bear hug.

''Aaaah! U-unhand me! Let me of-AAAAAH!'' Marcus was pushed right against the wooden camp wall with great force. As Alan let go he fell to the ground, unable to get up.

''And we just got ourselves a commander now'' Alan said ''Lets take him. He might be useful'' He knelt down and forced Marcus hands behind him, the warrior still being to dazed to fight back ''Rope!''

''Yes sir...nice helmet'' Drystan smiled and took it off to reveal Marcus his youthful face and brawn hairs. With Alan restraining Marcus Drystan bound the young noble. His arms were roped behind his back and his torso, wrist, knees and ankles tied.

''How shameful...I can't be a hostammmhhh!'' A white cloth was tied over his mouth, quickly silencing his lamenting of his sorry state ''Mmmmmh! hmmm''

''Don't worry lad. You're to important to kill'' Alan ruffled his hairs ''Keep him safe while we finish this''

'''Lads! You two aren't worth much in a fight anyway'' Drysten barked at Ewan and Ewen ''Take him out of here!''

''But we want to loot!'' Ewen pouted.

''Yes! You can't deny us...are those PEARLS on his armor! And GOLD! ehehe consider it done!'' Ewan quickly changed his mind after taking a look at Marcus ''Lets go!''

''Hmmmmh! lmmh gmmh!'' Marcus grunted as he was dragged off ''MMMMMHH! NMMH LMHH THMMHH!'' The twins were a good five years younger than Marcus and couldn't actually lift him....so the poor commander was dragged through the dirt by his legs.

--------------

''We appear to be winning sir'' Glen informed Cael from their hilltop spot. They could see Romans scattering and every attempt of them to turn the tide with a charge was interrupted by the arrows shot by Cael and his brigad.

''I can see'' The blonde noble smiled ''Looks my plan worked well. But as you can see its not over yet. Roman discipline might just save the day'' A lot of Romans were fleeing from their lives but a good 30 howled themselves up in a far corner of the camp, making a circle and staying in a tight formation which covered three out of four flanks. The fourth flank was guarded by the wall at their back.

A horn was blown, alerting all in the area of an incoming army.

''The battle is almost over and NOW they come!'' Glen yelled frustrated. Cormag and his cavalry could be seen coming from the horizon.

''No that's good! They have the horses we lack'' Cael said ''They can help chase down the fleeing Romans. mmmh....but they don't seem to be going in that direction''

''Indeed'' Glen said confused ''Why are they...riding towards us. If they want to echange greetings then this is NOT the time!''

''Cormag...this is not where you should be' Cael said as the tanned blonde dismounted from his horse before them ''Your unit is best used elsewhere''

''No. I think we are quite well where we are....attack!'' A sudden charge from his horseman was ordered...towards Cael's archers.

''What are you doing!'' Cael's screamed in panic. He grabbed his sword and charged at the barbarian.

''Taking the winning side. As you always say, the Romans are quite good to their allies'' Cormag easily blocked the strike with his axe and rammed his elbow into Cael's exposed stomach. ''Weakling'' He sneered as the boy cried in pain. With one strong kick he forced Cael to his back.

''Sir! You will pay for that you traitor!'' Glen yelled and attacked Cormag as well. Glen did a bit better and his sword clashed against Cormag's axes some times as they exchanged blows. In the end however the teenager was disarmed and beaten down.

''And look'' Cormag grinned as the boys crawled away from him ''We just got ourselves some hostages. Men! Bind these brats''

--------------------------------------------------------------

''Mmmmmh urmmmhh!'' Marcus futilely struggled as he was dragged through his own camp.

''That pearl is mine...that bigger one is certainly mine'' The twins were already talking about dividing the decorations on his armor as they went.

''Imm mimmmh!'' MArcus protested ''Eemmmh!'' He shrieked. One of those brats actually slapped him.

''Quit you!'' Ewen yelled before smiling cheekly at him ''Everything you wear is ours now!''

''Um...well not EVERYTHING! We must leave some parts to the imagination right? Though hey! maybe his underpants are gold to'' Ewan pointed out

''HMMMMMH!'' A blush appeared on Marcus his cheeks.

''Yuck! That wouldn't be worth it'' Ewen giggled

''And now we rest for a while! That stupid armor sure is heavy'' The twins paused at the now firmly Gaelic front gate.

''oommh! mmmmmmh!'' Marcus whined as they actually paused by sitting on top of him.

''Don't keep yelling prettyboy!'' Ewan laughed ''Its making you less manly when you shriek like that''

''Wasn't that horn blown some time ago? That Cormag imbecile should already BE here!'' Ewen pouted ''He's taking to long, no doubt wanting is to lose our guys in the fighting. Idiot!''

''K-keep it down! I hear horse hove's. If he hears us talking about how dumb he is he's gonna hit us!'' Ewan warned.

Horse riders did end up barging through the front gate and they were charging....and quickly speared the first Lutair soldiers they saw, right in front of the twins.

''W-WHAT!? B-but those are ours...i-is he betraying us!...nononono'' Ewan started freaking out ''We gotta get out of here!''

''Yes!...um, prettyboy is to heavy so...um yes lets just leave him here to drag him back home another day...maybe! Aaaaah!'' The twins very quickly left the scene.

A grinning Cormag rode through the gate. Soon he would have his victory. He came across the captive Marcus, left behind at the entrance area of the camp.

''Mmmmh! mmh lmmh ommhh!'' Marcus moaned, recognizing the young warrior from his meetings with Caesar.

''You're the commander here aren't ya? Pathetic. Is this the might of Rome?'' Cormag frowned when looking at the tussed up young man before him.

''Mmmh.....'' MArcus blushed in shame.

''Heh....you're going to praise me to high Olypus or whatever place you milk drinkers worship'' Cormag ruffled his hairs mockingly ''Or else I may accidentally just trample you with my horse...no one's here to see after all''

''Mmhhmmmm....'' Marcus slowly nodded. He wasn't bowing down to threats at all. This man really helped turn the tide of battle and for that he deserved praise, simple as that.

'Good boy'' Cormag untied the gag around his mouth.

''Urgh...m-my thanks'' Marcus said ''You have arrived just in time. I noticed no arrows are being fired anymore. Did you take care of it?''

''Hehe of course. Even cought myself a little prince when doing so'' Cormag said. With a snap of his fingers some soldiers came up to them. They presented a prisoner. A skinny blonde boy dressed just as their spies told them the second son of the chief would dress. His arms and wrists were tied behind him and the soldiers pulled him along via a rope tied around his neck.

''Mmmmh! nhmmh mmmhh!'' The boy grunted. This was it. His plan was falling apart around him....

''You are...Cael. Yes I recall you'' Marcus said ''Its good to see you survived. Caesar himself asked for your safety. Please don't make that order harder to follow by doing anything rash.

''Mmmh'' Cael slowly nodded. It was true he had some recollection of this man. The tribes had long been in contact with Rome and Cael was the most used messenger because of his pro Roman stance. There was a chance he would not be harmed so he stopped to struggle. He only hoped the rest would be so wise to do the same or at least escape now that they were betrayed.

But Cael had always doubted Alan was wise....

To be continued.

Oooooh!!! That indeed was a really great story, Chris :D!!!! Thank God the level of violence was not so hard as I expected from a story in that age, it's just the right level to not be classified for more older people :3!

And Alan seems to be a little more arrogant as I expected, although it will be REALLY fun to see him tied up and gagged in the future >:D! I though it was kind really stupid Markus trying to attack the Gaelic's camp alone like that xD! He just was asking to be tied up and gagged x3! I confess that I really enjoyed the twins xD! They are like that sidekick guys on comedian shows XD! I gave a good laugh when they told about the "gold underwear" xD! I believe these twiins will make me laugh even more xD! FInally, it was a shame that Cael was captured, he seems to be a so cute and smart guy o.o! I hope anything happens to him xD!

For the first chapther, I think it was really great :D! We already have two good TUGs scene on this one x3! I am looking foward the next chapthers OwO!

Good work! I like the twins so far and the way Marcus acted while being captured XD!!!! I hope he gets taken hostage more often! Shame Cael was betrayed like that but hey, let's see what happens in chapter two

Thanks you two. I'l admit I liked writing for the twins the most. I was pleased with their interaction with Marcus.

it was a shame that Cael was captured, he seems to be a so cute and smart guy o.o! I hope anything happens to him xD!

That was how I planned to depict him so I'm glad that came across.

The captive Cael could only helplessly watch as the battle took a turn for the worse, and then an even greater turn when the main Roman army returned. Soon it were the attacking Gauls who desperately holed themselves up in a secluded part of the camp. Alan did pleasantly surprise his little brother however. The escape plan was quite clever.

''Everyone! Defend yourself but leave the Romans for what they are'' He could hear Alan yell ''Grab the torches!'' With the battle suddenly upon them the Romans did not have time to put out their night time torches, even as the sun rose. Now the Gauls gratefully took those torches to burn down the wooden wall behind them in order to escape.

This would take some time however. The fighting went on.

''Cormag! You filthy traitor!'' Alan yelled at his fellow heir ''Though I can only thank you for one thing. This chance hasn't come soon enough!'' He charged at his rival, his sword clashing with Cormag's axes.

Cael had to hand it to his brother. He was more of a warrior than he ever was. Where he barely lasted 10 seconds Alan had the upper hand throughout the entire fight. The killing blow would come soon.

''Hehe time to finish yo-w-what!'' His sword was suddenly blocked by a trident ''Well don't you look weird'' He stood eye to eye with a gladiator.

''I am not a legionnaire so yes'' The gladiator said with a voice much higher then his large frame would suggest ''I Thebecus shall take your head!''

And now Cael had NOT to hand it to his brother. He pretty much got beaten up by the new arrival alone, not helped at all with Marcus rejoining the fight.

''Your fight is over. Sorry to inform you but you lost'' Marcus said.

''Since when did you get our, milk drinker?'' Alan growled ''Maybe I'l just beat you a second time and escape like that, can't attack me if I use you as a shield''

''Yes...if'' Marcus said ''Come at me'' Alan took the bait and ran towards Marcus ''Now Thebecus!''

''G-got it!'' Thebecus tossed an iron net over Alan who could only drop thanks to the big weight of his steel confinement.

''Brmmmh!'' Cael called out. He soon felt a bit guilty about his tone. The worry in it was for the overall situation...not his brother

''No! Argh...g-get me out of this!''

''In a moment'' Cormag grinned ''Sleep tight!'' He eagerly punched Alan into unconsciousness ''I want him bound before he waked up'' He ordered. Several of his own men already came with chains and a cloth.

The Gauls managed to escape through their burning of the wall but it was a clear defeat, all the more so because two out of the chief's three children had been captured.

-------------------------

Plenty of captives had been made but special attention only went to the chief's sons. The blonde teenagers were forced on their knees in the command tent. Cael tied with rope and gagged, his older brother restrained with chains around his arms and chest, and also gagged.

'MMMMH! URMMMH! IMMVMMH!'' Alan yelled loudly to the commanding staff, to Marcus, to the old man seemingly the general if that ridiculous hat of grass( a laurel crown as Cael would often correct him) was anything to go by but mostly to that scumbag Cormag who betrayed them.

''Not so though now are ya? Come now. Try to stand in my way again'' Cormag grinned.

''Commwarmhh!'' Alan hissed.

''Mmh...'' Cael shrieked as his older brother got treated to a fist for that.

''...Have you no shame?'' MArcus frowned as Cormag took advantage of his rivals bound state.

''Silence prisoner boy'' Cormag told Marcus ''He's mine so I can do with him what I want''

''Yourmmh!'' Alan said disgusted.

''Yours!'' MArcus joined that outburst.

''Nmmmh!'' Cael shook his head. A roman could sell his captive into slavery at worst. That was terrible but it was still better then being a human sacrifice which the gauls did to their prisoners, the more painful kinds if a bastard like Cormag had any say in it.

''Yeah! I aided you people and in turn I could claim any reward I desire...isn't that right?'' Cormag grinned cruelly.

''That is correct'' The old general nodded ''Caesar did promise that and Caesar keeps his promises. The elder one is yours...the younger one is not''

''mmmh'' Cael sighed in relief.

''Now what plans do you have with the boy?' The old man asked Cormag.

''Hehe human sacrifice'' Cormag smiled and confirmed Cael's fear.

''I see....carry on with it then. Our partnership has run its course for the time being. We shall stay in contact'' The general just nodded.

''Urmmh! nmmmh! BAMMMHRMH!'' Alan yelled. Cormag's thughs roughly kicked him from the ground and dragged him off.

---------

As the Romans recovered from the damage inflicted they left the prisoners for what they were for some time. Cael and his guard Glen were kept separated from the other prisoners. Both were kept in a supply tent and remained as they were, their arms bound behind them, their torso's tied and white clothes firmly wrapped over their mouths. The only improvement was that the rope around their necks was gone now.

''Simmh! hmmmh' Glen muffled in worry. As soon as they had been dropped off he crawled from his original spot and went to sit in front of Cael, at least doing that little gesture to protect him.

''Thmmh ymhh'' Cael smiled under his gag. Glen wouldn't be able to do anything should disaster strike but it was good to know he wasn't alone in this.

''Crmmhh! clmmh!'' Cael instructed.

''Hmmh? wmhh?''

''Jmmh dmmh immh!'' Cael ordered his...well maybe Glen was actually a friend rather then a guard. He ordered his friend.

Glen nodded, muffled a ''got it'' to his lord and came closer. One there Cael turned around and shacked his bound wrists ''Trmmh immh!''

''Ooomhhh!'' Glen got it. He turned his back to the blonde so the two could move back to back. Here Glen tried to use what little movements he could get out of his fingers to untie Cael's wrist. Just as Cael would thank the gods the Romans did not place guards inside the tent he got the nasty reveal that this was not to be.

''Well look who we got here'' Two of Cormag's barbarians came in ''Don't you just feel pathetic kid? How long did it took our boss to beat you?''

''......mmh '' Cael didn't respond to much. He knew they were just trying to bait him. If he started to hurl insults like Alan would down he'd just get beaten up. Hopefully his brother would get that hint and shut up for once as well.

''LMMMH!'' Glen on the other hand turned around and yelled at them in furry.

''And who are YOU supposed to be? Get lost!'' One of them just pushed the teen away.

''lmmh umhh alommh'' Cael grunted.

''I don't even think we need to explain this to a weakling such as you'' One of the thugs lifted Cael's face up by his long hairs ''You're in no state to tell us anything. But you're going to try''

''Mmmmh!'' Cael's eyes widened when a knife was pulled against his neck.

''You are going to try to beg for our mercy!''

''Nmmmhh! urgmh! mmmmhh!'' Cael struggled in desperation. With no ally in sight this could only end in disaster.

''And while you do'' The other tormentor said gleefully ''You are free to imagine this one thing. The rest of you're pathetic clan will soon join you, probably be sold off even! So who's going to suffer first? Your big brother? You're dad? That little runt brother of yours, maybe you're mom...you got any sisters kiddo?''

Okay, here Cael was drawing the line. His attitude to his Alan was dislike, his bond with his father could be called cold at best but NO ONE would get away with threatening his adored younger brother or his mother. ''HHHHMMMMMH!'' Successfully baited Cael went on a muffled tirade against the two.

'''Hehe someone needs to be thought a lesson. I don't think you'l be needing that eye'' The knife was removed from his neck only to be aimed higher. Cael quickly turned pale and regretted his outburst. So much for that promised safety.....

''Halt!'' A high voice was heard as a young Roman soldier ran into the tent ''What do you think you are doing? Let go of him at once''

Cael could only look in gratitude to his savior. His upper face was obscured with a helmet but the high voice and beardless chin meant he was probably the same age or even younger than him.

''And who do you think you are? Get lost runt!''

''Who WE think we are? His guards! His roman guards, the Romans you two are working for!'' Another Roman, a larger one quickly came to support his mate.

''S-sorry we are late!'' The smaller Roman said ''This place is kind of big and everything looks the same! And we are new recruits''

''And someone spend to long listening to the story teller'' The second Roman chuckled

''It was interesting!'' The roman pouted ''Um...I'm Porcius, nice to meet you two...um you four, can you guys please leave? We got this''

''Bah...you got lucky boy...or should we say girl'' The tugs released Cael and went away grumbling.

''I think that's our fault...s-sorry'' Porcius bowed to the two captives ''Okay, lets get on our guard duty!''

Trying to untie each other was out of the question but Cael figured these two wouldn't try to abuse him at least. Still the subject soon turned grim again.

Porcius stared at him a whole lot ''He's kind of cute'' he mumbled.

''Oooh! Someone got a crush!''

''Urhmmmh!'' Cael blushed just as his smaller guard ended up doing. Gaelic girls usually weren't interested in a long haired, boyish faced teenager with little muscles to speak up. Maybe those things spoke more to Roman girls...or boys in this case.

''I-i do not. Its just an observation!'' Porcius briefly lost control of his voice. His voice could no longer be called boyish but...girlish?

''The two are likely going to be slaves so...hey take your chance'' The older Roman patted Porcius back ''Slaves can't complain...eh well they can it just...won't do much''

Cael shrieked. Slavery beat sacrifice...but not by that much. Even with tensions at home Cael couldn't complain much. He had it good, so good slavery wouldn't be something he could handle.

''S-stop that! I-i am a noble! Do not try to bully me!'' Porcius shrieked as well.

''Just thought it would make you happy'' The Roman mumbled but Porcius ignored him. He walked to the panicked Cael and stroke his cheek, not doing something that helped calm the boy down all that much. His words however did.
''Please calm down. You have nothing to fear. Um...its a promise''

''Y-ymmh...yemmm'' Cael slowly nodded. The show of affection was tenderly, meant for him and not for Pocius at all.

Glen to sighed in relief. Bad fate averted! For now at least.

''Oh! um....s-sorry no orders have actually been given for YOUR safety...I should have mentioned that'' Porcius said.

''MMMH! NMMHHH!'' Now it was glen's turn to panic.

''But don't worry! Um you look strong enough for mining but you got a pretty face! Someone may likely buy you as a house slave!'' Porcius quickly said.

''Hoummmh slmmhh!'' Glen yelped. The words house slave did nothing to comfort if the reason was ''a pretty face''

''Y-you got it all wrong! House slaves aren't used for that! They are more like servants, part of the family sometimes though...if the master wants..um that you can't really...say...should we change the subject? Have you heard of Hercules by any chance?''

''MMMMMMMMMH!'' Glen started screaming in complete panic.

''Oh dear I am not helping much am I? S-sorry! shhh...please calm down'' he warmly hugged Glen to make him calm down. The gesture could be described as ''Motherly'' if the boy was female.

Cael certainly hoped it would help. Glen had been good to him so he disliked seeing him like this. He wouldn't be getting his answer because a roman came to collect him ''Come. The general is waiting''

One worried glance Cael could shoot towards Glen.

''So like I said! I'm Porcia...cough! cough! ahem! I-i mean Porcius, good old Porcius! So what's your name!'' He smiled at a bit when seeing the boy awkwardly trying to start a conversation. He hoped it would cheer Glen up a bit.

------

Sweet release! Completely unexpected Cael was sat on a chair and his ropes were removed. He took the chance to take the cloth from his mouth ''Ah! some air!''

The ones present in the tent were Marcus, a good amount of guards and the old man who was probably the leader. So far he was absorbed in his writings ''You...you promised I would be safe'' Cael complained to Marcus ''I can't say it would have done me much good but I stopped my struggles because of it. Was it a lie''

''Of course not! I was ordered to keep you unharmed and here you are'' Marcus said.

''You must be hungry'' The old man suddenly started speaking ''Give the boy a meal''

''T-thank you'' Cael gasped as a good piece of meat was put in front of him. He started to eat carefully, trying to display the good manners Gauls...did not really have ''What...what is going to become of me?''

''Of you?'' The old man ''Oh nothing dreadful I assure you. You will be sent back home in the morning. Accompanied by an escort and Caesars hopes this sad misunderstanding will be left behind us with that''

Cael stared to the man with his mouth wide open. Would he just be released like that ''Um...um...m-misunderstanding? W-we just tore down your front gate!...s-sir''

''It is possible for even the best of friends to lose sight of each others and thereby their own priorities'' The man smiled ''Caesar likes to think our desires are a thing we share. You agree, do you not?''

''O-of course. We have always traded with the Roman people and with the Germans invading from the east we are in dire need of protection'' Cael nodded ''And a Roman army which clans man call upon for help may put a stop to foolish rivalries like that of my brother and Cormag...as well as our fathers who started it in the first place'' Cael had his reasons to support Rome, all rational, not shared by many warriors and easy to exploit by Romans

''Exactly!'' The man patted his back ''Caesar would be heartbroken if such misunderstandings and bloodshed would lead to those chances being wasted!. Well then...to our friendship. We shall arrange a tent for you. As Caesar stated you are free to leave in the morning''

''W-what of the others?'' Cael asked hesitantly.

''Your brother...does not belong to us. We can't give him back'' Marcus said ''As for those that do belong to us. They attacked us and were captured in battle. Their fate lies in our hands now. We will not be releasing them.

''My...my friend Glen. Please free him as well'' Cael urged.

''Does our offer not sound generous enough as it stand?'' The general raised an eyebrow at that.

''I...it does. Very much so! B-but Glen...he'd be a rotten slave! He is disobedient, clumsy...a-and like all of us gau...b-barbarians he stinks!''

''....Very well. You may collect him'' The old man just shrugged.

''T-thank you, oh kind king!'' Cael smiled brightly.

The man chuckled ''Oh my name is not king, its Caesar'

''Oh...of course. I am in your debt'' Cael smiled. He made a sincere bow of gratitude and left with the soldier escorting him to his tent. The future suddenly looked better once more.

''Why...why did you free him? Marcus asked his leader ''He may be young but as a prince he is one of the most important captives we made. The attack plan seemed also to have been his''

''Destroying your enemies is one achievement my boy'' Caesar smiled ''Winning them over is a more important one. Removing our biggest advocate is not in our interest. And if our...friend Cormag slays his older brother. Well our little friend would suddenly be in a very powerful position. I will be expecting grand things of him''

''I...I see. Well played sir'' Marcus said.

At the very least Cael would see this as yet more proof for a pro Roman stance. At the very best he would be a potentional crown prince of Alan was killed. IF Alan was killed. Two bushes of red hair could be seen trailing Cormag to ensure that would not come to pass.
