the beginning

figured it was about time to share one of my stories as well. been reading a lot at this page for at least 4-5 years now if it isn't more. but first you should know, my english is not perfect since it's not my mother language.

i thought a great start would be to write about how it all started. i've been playing tie up games for as long i can remember. i should probably thank Disney for it and NRK (norwegian version of BBC) for broadcasting captein sabertooth back then.
anyway, it all started with the girl next door. it was a sunny summer day and my mom threw me out of the house because it was to nice weather to sit inside playing duck hunter on the Nintendo.

at the moment most of the kids around our street was 9 years or older. i was about 4 at the moment and the only other kid around that was my age where a girl about 6 months younger than me. we used to have a lot of roleplays together. we pretended to be animals, hunters, bakers, hairdressers, clowns, famous disney characters, doctor and nurse, and of course cops and robbers.
in case anyone is wondering what we looked like she had blonde shoulder length hair, blue eyes and a slender body.
i had brown hair with the shape of a soup bowl, blu eyes, and was somewhere in the middle of slender and chubby.
i don't remember what clothes we had at the moment.

one day we was running and screaming as the hyper active kids we were, when i suddenly noticed a rope just laying there in my backyard. a long piece of green rope waiting for me to pick it up. i don't really remember what we were playing but like every other kid, i changed the rules of the game. i told her that now all of a sudden a bad guy was coming after her and would tie her up. she played along of course and pretended to run away. i chased her around the entire house and around a couple of bushes before i cauhgt her in the backyard again. i grabbed her by holding her arms to her body and led her to a tree. i made her sit and went for the ropes.
it took me like 5 seconds and that was 5 seconds to much. guess who i saw running like a wind around the corner of the house. i just dropped the ropes and yelled "HEEEY  " and starting chasing her... again. after another round around the house and the same bushes i finaly got her. pushing her toward the same tree as last time.
this time i had the ropes right next to her. i made her sit with her back against the tree and without any idea about what i was doing i just started to wrap the rope around her.

the rope went around her more times than i could count at the moment so i guessed it was 1000 times. thinking about it now it was probably around 20. finally when i was done wrapping i took the two ends of the rope and tied them togheter with a knot i learned at the daycare that we called a "troll knot".
so there she was sitting, with her arms pinned to the side of her body, back against a tree and rope around her all the way from the bottom of her belly and up to somewhere above her elbows. now it was about time to continue or game and i was at first pretending like i still were the bad guy telling her she were in big trouble and i would do the same thing to her cat. then i pretended like the bad guy took off and returned acting like i was the cat that came to her rescue. i loosened the ropes, grabbed one of the ends and started run around and around like crazy so the ropes came off. after i untied her i pretended like i was a little dizzy and saw stars around my head before we runned somewhere else to hide from the bad guy.

after a while i wanted to do it again, so suddenly i pretended i was the bad guy and tried to catch her again. i could rewrite the entire thing but it would be like a deja vu or something. the only difference this time was the ropes were still next to the same tree so i could start tie her up without an extra exercise.
i tied her up the same way as last time and again pretended to be the cat that came to her rescue.

after the third time we figured out we should play something else and stop these games for today, but that doesnt mean we stopped playing tie up games...

yeah, i don't really know how i got that imagination.
and yes, kaptein sabeltann is the original name. so i guess i should answer your questions and describe what is going on:
he's both the villain and the hero... sort of. the show starts with "pinky" the youngest of the pirate crew searching tjuttavika (a bay somewhere nobody knows where is) for a treasure. he meet this girl called Sunniva who lives there and falls in love with her. after he met Sunniva's family Røde Ruben (ruben the red) and tante bassa (aunt bassa) pinky want's to quit the pirate career. so he decides to trick the captein and pretends he tied up the villagers of tjuttavika.
kaptein sabeltann by the way is that guy with a white face and black curly hair.

the third link you sent is the one i reffered to from my childhood, so is the second one but i don't know if it was out yet at that time. the first one is a newer version of both the same shows. i think they made about 5 shows like the ones you found and one cartoon, with pretty much the same story.
the cartoon by the way have been dubbed to english.

and for the last question, yes we had a lot of tie up games. both imaginary with a lot of pretending, and a bunch of a little more seriuos ones.
