Jay, I often have trouble understanding your questions. Unfortunately, this is no exception.
Are you asking whether the time period in which a story takes place matters for some of us?
If so, I'd answer yes for me.
Of course, that doesn't mean I wouldn't get any enjoyment out of reading the details of a bondage scene that happened in the 1800s, for example. Chances are though, that I'd enjoy a scene from the late twentieth century to early twenty-first century, a lot more.
Some tuggers, like me, don't get as big a thrill as others from reading about simple "rope and handkerchief" bondage.
I greatly enjoy duct tape, zip ties and other relatively "modern" inventions.
So yes, in general, I prefer reading about modern tie ups as opposed to those of past centuries.
