RIP Michael Jackson.

CNN) -- Entertainer Michael Jackson has died after being taken to a hospital on Thursday after suffering cardiac arrest, according to multiple reports including the Los Angeles Times and the Associated Press. CNN has not confirmed his death.
A Los Angeles fire official told CNN that paramedics arrived at Michael Jackson's home after a 911 call.

A Los Angeles fire official told CNN that paramedics arrived at Michael Jackson's home after a 911 call.

Jackson, 50, had been in a coma at the hospital, sources told CNN.

Brian Oxman, a Jackson family attorney, said he was told by brother Randy Jackson that Michael Jackson collapsed at his home in west Los Angeles Thursday morning.

Family members were told of the situation and were either at the hospital or en route, Oxman said.

Fire Capt. Steve Ruda told CNN a 911 call came in from a west Los Angeles residence at 12:21 p.m.

Ruda said Jackson was treated and transferred to the UCLA Medical Center.

Asked specifics of the patient's condition, he said he could not discuss them because of federal privacy laws.

The music icon from Gary, Indiana, is known as the "King of Pop."

Jackson is the seventh of nine children in a well-known musical family.

At the medical center, every entrance to the emergency room was blocked by security guards. Even hospital staffers were not permitted to enter. A few people stood inside the waiting area, some of them crying.

He may have been an eccentric, but i'm not convinced he was a child molester by an means. Let the money talk and it just makes sense that he was a target for desperate people.

To me, he always was a lost person. Lost in his own personality and the things done to him.
He was a poor person, no matter how much $ he had, as he seemed to never really have found himself.
Had he molested kids, or was it just that he enjoyed the company and friendship of children and some parents used that to get some quick cash? We do not know.
The courts always said "no", personal opinions may differ. Peronally, I don't know. To me, if someone like him would have touched my kid...I would not drop a trial at court, even for millions. But what I think matters little in that regard.
He has surely given a lot to many people through his music. And to me he will always stand as living (well now dead) proof that fame and money do mean nothing in the way of leading a happy life.

He is dead now, and may rest in peace. The world will turn on without him- as it does with many other people who have died. The one thing I really find disgusting is how his death gets milked for "just one more headline" now for weeks. I mean...I really don't care that much what happens to his nose. Or his body. And yes, his children, too. I wish them best (at least his children) but hey...they are not the only children who have to cope with loosing one parent.

Cheers

He owed millions of dollars to a huge company and didn't have the money to pay it back. What better way to get out of the lime light and not have to pay your debt back then to fake your own death.

Oh yes, I know I opened up a can of worms here but so sorry I don't believe he is dead and frankly it matters to me not either way. Never cared for him or his music and further more Farrah died and this MJ took over all the media news. She had more talent and was a great lady who gave all of herself to everyone who knew her. So MJ donated alot to charity I say big deal. He had all that money and pretty much didn't have a choice but to give to charities but hey you give to charities you get it all back at tax time anyway. So he gave and git it back. Wow what a humanitarian that is to give and get it back which in my book means he didn't give at all.

Troops were killed overseas at the same time the media was full of MJ. They gave their lives and didn't get five minutes of media time. What is wrong with the media when washed up has been MJ takes over the ariways and troops who gave their lives got nothing. Hide in peace MJ you suck.

Well, I agree the media fuss over his death was exaggerated, but come on, that money is doing much better at a charity than as taxes. I'd rather help line the pocket of a doctor researching cancer than that of a congressman. Still, back to our protagonist: I didn't listen much to his music, but he was quite an influence on pop culture, thus deserving a mention, maybe a 10 minute segment on the news, but this was certainly overblown. My personal take on it is that it probably would have even drowned news of the US nuking the entire populations of Iraq, Iran and Afghanistan if such events happened the same day. That is just plain wrong.

You can call his music pop all you want to but it isn't pop at all. It is simply dance music. Dance music is nothing more then disco from the 70's and early 80's. The powers that BE didn't want to kill disco completely since they made millions from it so they dressed it up and called it pop and dance music.

Pop is short for popular music which has nothing whatsoever to do with disco or dance music. How often do you hear a remake of a disco song or dance as that of a popular tune. How many people sang Angel of the Morning and others like it? How many people remake MJ's songs? Hence popular versus dance and disco music which is the same only the names are changed to make more profit. I know my music. I use to be a DJ and also directed and ran a camera for live music shows for two years. I know my stuff. So MJ the King of pop no way at all. The crowned king of disco perhaps but disco is a joke to me anyway.

Media hype makes me sick. J-LO broke up with whoever and married whoever. Seriously who cares? Paula left IDOL,who cares? Brad and the bimbo abducted I mean adopted (pun intended) another baby. Who cares the woman is as dumb as she is a liar and a cheater. Jessica puts on weight. Other than the fact that she is totally hot who really cares? Does any of that change your life? If it does you simply need to start living and not merely existing.

We have troops, which mean both men and women who are dying overseas almost everyday. They are sister and brothers, mothers and fathers, grandchildren and someone's friends and boyfriends and girlfriends. Seriously the king of pop I mean disco, who seriously cares and whose live other then those related or are close friends are affected by this.

Troops dying each day,yes that should affect every man, woman and child in the US and other parts of the world. If we did not fight terroism what other country would stand up and fight? France? Oh we all know their stand on that.

In short I am pissed off that they called him the king of anything never mind pop and when it is disco. Also I am pissed off because the people that gave their lives that week when the news came out about MJ had to take a back seat to all the hype that is pure crap anyway. Like I said I don't beleieve he is even dead. Mr millions of dollars owed Sony so much money and could not pay it back. Fake your death MJ,like I said enjoy your peace in hiding.

Nothing anyone says can change my mind about how I feel about MJ. In my eyes a messed up piece of crap is the same in fake death as he was in life. "Messed up"

He does have my vote for the biggest ass in music history. Damn even Millie Vanillie had more talent.

Was his death faked? Honestly, I don't think so, but on the other hand can rule it out completely. Alas, it doesn't matter that much.
After all, the person his fans cared for (and his enemies hated) was not the person Michael Jackson as you would have known if you met him in person. The MJ we and most of the media know is the image of a person generated through the media. We do not know how much of the "media" MJ was in the "real" MJ and vice versa.
My point is...the "media" MJ is dead, and that is what matters, even *if* the "real" MJ is still alive. The "real" MJ matters to my life exactly the same way than any other person whom I don't know at all in a different country does.

To your rant about disco and pop, I have to agree and disagree in the same turn...as some here may know, I am (among other things) a musican myself and actually have studied musical science.
Yes- MJ did not invent a new style out of the thin air. As you correctly put it, the roots are clearly visible (among others) in disco music and others.
However, disco has some roots in rock&roll, which in turn has roots in rythm&blues and so on...does that mean MJ should then be called "King of blues"? Surely not.
There has never been a true definition to "pop". Only that it's "popular music"- and that one can't deny, that MJ was extremly popular with his works.

I don't see MJ as the greatest artists of all times; however, one should not forget that he actually changed something. Maybe he did not invent something completely new, but developed things and brought them to a broad audience. Despite all true criticism, that should not be forgotten.
Examples:
He was among the first to truly "produce" video clips, not only seeing them as an addon to the music. When the "Thriller" video was released, it was something really new- at least for the masses.
He was the first black musican whos videos where aired at MTV

and so on...

BTW, the comparison to Milli Vanilli really made me smile :-) Just let's not forget..the actual musicans of that band have some talent. Only the two "performers" had not. But that has actually some history with groups produced by Frank Fabian...anyone remember Boney M? ;-)

The bottom line for me is I didn't like him at all. I don't think the media should have overdone their stories and coverage of of him. More important things were happening in the world. We have troops all over the world and troops were killed during the MJ coverage. Did we hear about that at all? No,they thought MJ was more important then troops getting killed.

This type of thing pisses me off to no end. MJ was all about the drama and controversy. Now I wonder if the case against him about the children was even real or just another farse for more publicity. Frankly I don't care either way. All I know is that his talent was shaded by who he was. Talented,I thought perhaps a little but I think his true self or what he let us see shadowed his talent. Speaking of his talent. I am sorry but i have a problem with a grown man moon walking in the first place.

I feel sorry if he is actually dead for his siblings as I know what it is to lose a sibling. For his father, not at all. The guy is a piece of crap. His mother, well let's face it let the father mistreat their kids without lifting a finger on her part. So screw her too. Does this sound harsh? Oh well be in the public and in the media your whole life deal with harsh words as well as the good ones. he is a god example of how not to handle fame. Do not get too full yourself cause you're human like the rest of us. Don't wear your private life on your sleeve and don't be a grown man and hang out with little boys. Enuff said.

It feels like yesterday because the media went on about it for 6 months after he died.
