What was wrong is that ANY innocent bystander was injured. The fact that it was a "Royal" is irrelevant.
The police should have taken more care over Dumbo's security but I don't believe that it was legitimate protesters that committed the actions, probably hangers on or anarchists.
I must say that I support the legitimate protests. As the son in a "one parent family" in the fifties when the likes of my mother were generally considered as "fallen women" and a slum dweller ( no bath, no power, damp, outside loo, etc) I would not have been able to enjoy higher education without the assistance of a grant.
I have since "repayed" that grant by educating young people (I'm a maths teacher) and giving as much back to the community as possible through my involvement with an international young people's scheme.
If I was still mucking out pig bins or cutting carpets up for pattern books for the minimum wage, I don't think I would have contributed as much.
Please do not confuse legitimate protest against regressive, elitist measures with anarchist actions.
By the way, how is the young man who got clubbed on the head by a riot poilcemen?
