Just Sitting Here . . . . .

. . . . . watching the "Star Trek: Voyager" marathon on BBC America. Saw one episode, and thought that Capt. Janeway should have photon torpedo'ed the shit out of the Kazon nistrums. Capt. Kirk would damn sure have done it, Kirk was the 23rd century version of Curtis "Bomb them back to the Stone Age" LeMay.

Limited supplies tho. They couldn't just shoot their way out of the Delta Quadrant. I questioned a great deal of her decisions, but ultimately, she's the captain.

Voyager was great, until they started RUINING the Borg in season 6 and 7.
I miss the REAL Borg (the ones in TNG).
Still, the series was overall very good. Not nearly as masterfully scripted as Ds9, but still very good.
Gave it a solid 8/10 on IMDB. -1 point for ruining the Borg and another -1 point for the series finale.

Not at all. However, if there's one thing I like more than Photon Torpedoes, it's consistency.
On the subject of antimatter warheads and show consistency, the opening double-episode for Voyager mentioned the ship only having a limited supply of 37 photons. For some reason, the writers and special FX producers saw fit to make the ship fire over twice that amount from season 1-7.
IMO, they wasted way too many Photons on the stupid Kazon in season 1 and 2.

Drawscore is right about one thing.
The 24th century captains (perhaps with the exception of Sisko) seem far less "trigger-happy" than Kirk, Sulu and the old bunch.

Speaking of Star Trek and consistency, I think Q got in there ans screwed up the time line. Things just don't mesh with the original series.

How does one go from Starfleet cadet, to captain, in one big jump? Especially since Kirk made mention of being an ensign once, when he, like one of his men, hesitated for an instant, at shooting a gaseous creature that killed his captain, some years back.

Then, there was Captain Pike getting injured, presumably the same injury that landed him in his wheelchair (The Menagerie). Spock was his science officer, and Kirk wasn't even aboard the Enterprise.

In the original series, there are several years between Kirk, and Sulu and Chekov - at least eight to ten. In the first movie, they are all in the academy together, along with Uhura, Scotty, and McCoy. Huh, what? Sulu and Chekov should be 13 year olds to the new Kirk, who is obviously in his early 20's.

I've always liked Star Trek, but the lack of consistency in the new series of movies, with information presented in the original series, is puzzling.

Drawscore, as a serious trekkie I don't consider anything "JJ" to have anything to do with Star Trek, beyond the name.
JJ took the name "Star Trek" to get a lot of attention and created three shallow, fast-paced action movies to make a lot of money.

I see absolutely NO resemblance to the Star Trek series and movies I've known and grown up with.
As far as I'm concerned, Star Trek began with TOS in 1966 and ended in 2005 with Star Trek: Enterprise.

Of course, the kids today don't wanna see people in their 40s, 50s and 60s.
Everything has to be young and new. Which is why in the JJ's movies, you have a bunch of hot-looking 20 year old "superheroes" in command of the Federation flagship.
Looks like they were able to skip all the ranks and all the lower assignments.
And to think that poor Picard was already in his mid 50s by the time he earned command of the Enterprise-D.

Roddenberry would be spinning in his grave if he knew what was happening right now.
