Sailor's Daughter: Mysterious Ways (Complete.)

Part 1: In this part, Katie and Sam enjoy an afternoon together, and Jeff reveals a special guest.

So...It was Sunday afternoon, and everyone except Sam and I were preoccupied with something else, so she was visiting my house today. We played a few video games, but got bored after a while. We then resorted to watching TV. Dad had recorded some Hogan's Heroes previously, and so we decided to pop those in.

Thanks to the episodes being recorded, we were able to easily just skip through the commercials. Normally we would take advantage of this, but we decided to leave them running this time. They were serving an important purpose after all.

Sam had on her Cloud Strife T-shirt with a red plaid flannel shirt over it, and a pair of jeans. I had on my plaid shirt dress, and that was it. Actually it wasn't. I also had some rope around my wrists which were secured behind my back, although it wasn't as efficient as it could have been. It didn't take me long to escape from it.

“How long?” I asked Sam, as I set the rope down on the arm rest of the couch.

“About a minute twenty,” Sam said, glumly. Usually she does a much better job then this, so I wasn't too surprised by her reaction. We then continued to watch the show, and laughed along with all the funny moments.

“Oh, commercial,” I chirped, as the commercial started, and I took hold of the rope. Sam quickly turned her back to me with her hands behind her, and I went to work. I wound the rope as fast as I could while making sure not to hurt her, or apply it incorrectly.

Once I was done with her wrists, I grabbed another piece that was close by, and started on her feet. I only wound the rope two times around her feet until I saw that the commercials were over, and the show was back on.

“Ah nuts,” I moaned, and stopped my work. I then sat back on the couch, and watched as Sam kicked the rope around her feet away with ease. So yeah, that was the game we were playing. The commercials were our timer for tying the other up, and then we recorded how fast we'd escape from it.

“You are far better at this then I am,” Sam commented.

“Not by much,” I pointed out. Sam frowned at me.

“Oh, stop being modest,” She groaned. I just grinned, and shrugged. Sam then went about wriggling out of her bonds. “Time!” She snapped. I then looked at my stop watch.

“Two minutes and six seconds,” I stated. Sam rolled her eyes in frustration.

“Well, I've lost,” She said, in a somewhat pouty voice.

“If it makes you feel any better, You've gotten a lot better,” I said to her. She smiled and shrugged. We then saw that the show had ended, and it was time to put the next one in. Before I did however, I needed to check my math, and make sure it was correct. I added up the total escape times, and I had Sam beat by a rather large margin. Sam's punishment was to be bound for the length of the next show I put in, since this was the last episode of Hogan's Heroes that was recorded.

“Alright, let's get this over with,” Sam sighed, and put her hands behind her back.

“Get it over with?” I questioned. “I want to savor my moment of triumph,” I said, trying to sound as insufferable as possible.

“Oh brother,” Sam said. I caught a hint of laughter in her voice, as she knew what I was going for. I then tied her wrists in a square lashing, as Dad had shown me. I then bound her ankles with a double column tie.

Once I was done, I sat back down on the couch, and grabbed the remote. I then noticed Sam had wide eyes, and I could tell by her shoulders that she was laughing. Before I could react, I felt a hand clamp down over my mouth, and pull my head back against the couch.

“Having fun?” Dad asked.

“Mmm hmm,” I said.

“Now what did Sam do to deserve this treatment?” He asked me, and then removed his hand. I could tell by his tone that he was playing along.

“Well, I won the escape contest, and now Sam has to be tied up for the next show,” I told him. Dad nodded his understanding.

“Well, I think it's only fair that you join her,” He said.

“Oh come on Dad,” I whined, as Dad produced a linen strip from his pocket. “I won fair and square.”

“Yes you did, and you got to enjoy the spoils of victory,” Dad stated. “But I've decided to start up a new game,” He then said.

“What kind of Game?” I asked, as I turned around, and crossed my wrists behind my back.

“I like to call it: Having fun at my Daughter's expense,” Dad stated, with a smirk.

“One of your all time favs,” Sam stated, with a snicker. Dad turned to her with a grin just as he finished my wrists.

“Yes indeed,” He said proudly. “Right, now that that's settled, Katie, I need to inform you of the real reason I came down here,” He said. I blinked at him.

“What's going on?” I asked him, as he walked around the side of the couch.

“I just got off the phone with Dale. Apparently the Deputy Chief has taken an interest in the way I'm teaching those officers, and will be observing Saturday's class,” He explained. I blinked at him.

“Oh really?” I asked, sounding kinda surprised. Dad was, of course, referring to the self defense classes that he was providing to new officers on the police force. I'm not going to lie, ever since the initial shock of his first days teaching, the classes were becoming a bit boring for me. The reason is that these guys were all learning stuff that I already knew, so I was kinda losing interest.

It had been several weeks ever since that first hilarious class that took everyone there by surprise, and they were all doing very well now. When ever I did join him, I'd usually lend a hand whenever I needed to, but I ended up spending most of my time looking up stuff on my phone to pass the time. That's something I could easily do here without my phone, so I kinda stopped going because of it.

“Are you saying you want me to go with you?” I asked.

“I'd very much appreciate it if you did, but I won't make you,” He said. I let out a brief sigh.

“Oh all right,” I said.

“What are you going to be teaching them?” Sam then asked.

“Well, they know their breathing exorcises, and we went through most of the basic motions as well. I think they're ready to start doing Fists,” Dad answered. I raised an eyebrow at that. For those of you that don't know, Fists is a motion and mental exorcise. It starts out slow with a slow punch to your opponent which they blocks. The opponent then blocks with one hand, and follows up with a punch using the other hand, and you are meant to block it. It continuously repeats from there.

Eventually the process speeds up to a fast paced flurry of punching, and blocking. Remember, the goal isn't to hit your opponent, but to go back and forth with them.

“Okay, that sounds a bit more fun,” I stated, now that I knew this is where the fun started.

“Well, good luck,” Sam said, with a smile. Dad nodded in response.

“So, did you finish the Hogan's Heroes?” Dad asked.

“Yeah,” I answered. He then took hold of the remote, and flipped through our DVR. “Ah, there it is,” He said, as he found what he was looking for.

“Oh, I looked for that last night, but I didn't find it,” I said, as Dad selected the show in question: the World series of Poker. It was something Sam and I both actually enjoy watching a lot.

“I hope you don't expect me to sit through the whole thing like this,” Sam retorted to me, referring to her bound hands.

“Of course not,” I stated. I then thought for a second. “Maybe...oh...one hour,” I suggested.

“Thirty minutes,” Sam threw out.

“Forty minutes,” I said back. Sam sighed, and then nodded.

“Alright, forty minutes,” Sam agreed, which made me giggle.

Well, it looked as though I was joining Dad for Saturday's class. I was just hoping it would be worth my time. (Spoiler alert: It was.)

And now begins another round of me trying to figure out the meaning of the title.
Anyways, solid start as usual, looking forward to more of Jeff and his interesting martial art methods.

Part 2: In this part, the planets align.

Saturday Morning...

I made my way through the rest of the week pretty uneventfully. Well, other then keeping Roslyn away from my friends of course. I woke up to Dad gently pushing on me to wake me up. I nodded to him, and he then left my room.

I got out of bed, took a shower, and then put on my bath robe, before heading down stairs. I found Dad in the kitchen reading his paper with his trusty mug of coffee close by.

“You have a good sleep?” He asked me.

“Yeah,” I said, in passing. I poured myself some cereal, and then sat down across from him. “How much longer are you going to be teaching those guys?”

“I still have about a month or so to go,” Dad answered, as he took another sip of coffee.

“Do you know why the Deputy Chief wants to observe the class?” I then asked. “I mean, he's never done it before.”

“You're guess is as good as mine,” Dad said with a shrug. I blinked a bit, and then shrugged myself.

After breakfast, I rinsed my bowl out, and loaded into the dishwasher. I then headed upstairs to get dressed. I didn't feeling like dressing fancy this time, so I stuck with my camo pants, my Legend of Zelda T-shirt, and my trainers. I left my hair loose, but I did bring a scrunchie with me in case I needed it later. I put on my hoodie, grabbed my phone, and headed to the living room to wait for Dad.

I sat down on the couch, and checked my phone for messages. I got one from Linda saying...

“Hi Katie, please remind me again what your Dad's going to be teaching this time.”

“He's teaching them the Fists Exorcise,” I replied back.

“All set Katie?” Dad asked, from behind me. I turned my head to look at him.

“Yep,” I said. I got up off the couch, and put my phone back into my pocket. We then headed out the door, and back to the Police Academy.

* * * *

Once we were allowed inside, We made our way back to the gym area where the class was waiting. I went back to the piece of equipment I was at last time, (the last several times in fact), and pulled out my phone to see if Linda had replied. As usual, the class ignored me, and focused their attention on Dad.

“Good morning Officers,” Dad greeted, as he took off his coat.

“Good morning Sir!” They all greeted back. Dad nodded, and then turned to Officer Peterson.

“Hey Dale,” He greeted.

“Hi Jeff,” His friend said back.

“Where's the Deputy at?” Dad then asked.

“He should be here any minute,” Officer Peterson said. Dad just shrugged, and then turned his attention back to his class.

“Alright guys. We're going to proceed to the next step today, but first we need through our usual warm up,” Dad then stated. By which he means that they first need to do some of their breathing exorcises, and then they need to go through some of the basic hand, arm, leg, and body motions.

“I hope we're not too late,” A new voice said, as a man dressed in gray suit and a red tie entered the room.

“Oh, there you are Carl,” Officer Peterson said. This must have been the Deputy Chief. Once I saw him, I put my phone away, and walked over to greet him. “Sir, this is my good friend Jeffery Narrows,” Officer Peterson introduced. “Jeff, this is Deputy chief Carl Buckley.”

“Good to know you,” Dad said, and the two shook hands. The Deputy Chief wasn't alone either. Standing next to him was a young man who looked maybe just a year or two older then me. Unlike his Father, he looked to have some Hispanic heritage given his tanner skin tone, and black hair. He also looked in pretty good shape too. He was also quite well dressed in a white button up shirt over a black T-shirt and a pair of jeans.

“Likewise,” The Deputy chief greeted. “This is my son, Logan,” He then said. Dad then shook his hand as well.

“You have a good firm grip Logan,” Dad complimented.

“Thank you Mr. Narrows,” Logan said back.

“This is my Daughter Katie,” Dad then stated. I nodded, and shook Mr. Buckley's hand.

“Nice to Meet you Katie,” He greeted.

“Nice you to meet you as well,” I said, and then turned my attention to Logan. “And you too Logan,” I added. Dad was right, he did have a firm grip. He also had something that no other boy I had ever met had: A look of confidence.

“So, what's going on right now?” Mr. Buckley asked, as he looked at the class.

“Oh, I'm just running them through some basic exorcises right now. The fun stuff comes up a little later,” Dad answered. With that, all attention was back on the class. I went back to my post, as it were, and began scrolling through Facebook again. It's not that I had no interest in Logan. Its that if he had any interest in me, he'd approach me first.

* * * *

As the Officers went through their paces, Dad was having a friendly conversation with the Deputy chief, and Officer Peterson. I'd look up from my phone every so often to see if anything had changed. That was until something else grabbed my attention.

“So, are you into this kinda thing?”

I looked over to my right, and saw Logan standing next to me.

“I'm sorry?” I asked him.

“Do you do this sort of thing?” He asked me. Something about his voice was a bit...off. It was hard to place. Regardless, I answered him.

“Yep, Dad's been teaching me for the last five years,” I told him.

“Cool. I do it too,” He said. Again, the way he said things just didn't really seem to flow well.

“Oh, nice,” I told him. “Is that why you and you're Dad are here to watch?”

“Well, Dad wanted to see what you're Dad does differently compared to the other instructors,” Logan explained. That one seemed much better. “I'm just here because it's fun,” He said, and smiled at me. I just smiled back. Before I could respond however...

“Katie, could you come here for a minute?” My Dad called.

“Excuse me,” I told him, and walked over.

“Okay, so this is what you're going to do,” Dad stated, and took a fighting stance. I then did the same, since I knew what was happening. We then did our slow motion rounds of fists. “You start out slow like this,” Dad explained, as we did our demonstration. “And eventually, you'll be able to do this,” Dad stated, and we picked up the pace. Within a few moments, we were punching and blocking at a very high speed.

Dad caught my fist, and I knew that was the sign that the demonstration was over.

“I'm impressed,” Deputy Buckley complimented.

“Thank you,” Dad said, with a smirk. “Okay, everyone pair up, and start slow,” Dad instructed.

“Oh, by the way Katie,” Officer Peterson stated, and motioned me over to him.

“Yes?” I asked, as I walked over.

“Just something you should know about Logan,” The Officer said, his voice now in a whisper. “Logan is mildly autistic, so he can be socially awkward at times,” Mr. Peterson explained. That would explain his unusual voice patterns.

“Oh, okay,” I said. Officer Peterson nodded to me, and with that I rejoined Logan, and our respective Fathers who were chatting again.

“Logan, does your Dojo teach this?” Mr. Buckley asked, referring to the fists exorcise.

“No,” Logan said.

“You should give it a try,” My Dad suggested.

“Okay,” Logan responded.

“You want to try your luck against Katie?” Dad then asked him. Logan looked at me. I just smiled at him.

“Sure,” He said. At least now I knew why he sounded the way he did. I motioned for him to join me over out of the way. We both then took our fighting stances.

“Remember, the goal isn't to hit each other. It's to react and respond,” I stated. Logan nodded, and we began. I could tell Logan's Dojo had been teaching him correctly based on how he was breathing, and the fluid actions he was taking.

I also saw the look in his eyes. The awkward-boy expression was replaced by a cold hardened poker face that I see when Lucy plays competitive Smash. His focus was insanely high. This is the fascinating thing with autistic people. They have that special something that hyper focuses in the mind.

It wasn't long before we started picking up the pace very quickly. He was keeping right along with me, as is we had been doing it for months.

“How are you doing over there Logan?” Mr. Buckley called.

“I'm keeping up with her,” He responded, without taking his eyes off me. It was now time for a special surprise. I'd give him a taste of what kind of girl I am. I readied myself. As he blocked my next punch, I used the same hand to quickly pop him in the forehead, and then block his punch with the same hand.

“Whoa!” Logan snapped, and rubbed his forehead. He likely didn't even see what hit him.

“Uh oh, did she pop you?” My dad asked, with a grin on his face.

“Yep,” Logan said.

“Be careful what you say around her Logan. She's a Spitfire,” Dad told him.

“So I noticed,” Logan said. He didn't seem to upset which was good. He looked me. I just grinned at him.

“Any questions before we start up again?” I asked him. Logan blinked for a second.

“Yeah, are you doing anything this Saturday?” He asked back. My expression went from smug to stunned instantly. I was taken completely by surprise.

“Are you...asking me out?” I asked him.

“Well...yeah,” Logan answered. “I hope I'm not out of line.”

“No no, you're fine,” I said, now finally starting to recover from the shock. “I just didn't expect that.”

“Well, again, I'm just asking,” Logan said. I looked into his eyes, and I saw genuine honesty.

“Did you have something in mind?” I asked him. Logan just shrugged.

“Do you like Bowling?” He asked. To his surprise, I snorted.

“I like it okay, but I suck at it,” I responded. Logan got a chuckle out of that.

“I'm good at Bowling, so maybe I can help you,” He offered. I smiled at him.

“I think I'd like that very much,” I told him, and extended my hand.

“It's a date then,” He said, and we both shook hands.

“Of course we'll need to okay it with our parents,” I reminded him.

“Well, if Saturday doesn't work, we can try another day,” He said. “Do you want to exchange numbers?”

“Yeah, sure,” I said, and we both pulled out our phones. We then added each other to our respective contact lists.

* * * *

As the class went on, the other trainees actually got some pretty good pace going of their own. Logan and I did a few more rounds of fists as well. Eventually it was time for us to leave. I waved Logan good-bye with a smile as Dad and I headed out the door.

“What was that all about?” Dad asked me. I looked at him.

“He asked me out this Saturday," I said, trying to hold back a giggle. Dad turned to me with a look of shock.

“He did!?” Dad snapped. “What did you say?”

“I told him yes,” I said. Dad opened his arms to give me a hug.

“Katie, I can't begin to tell you how happy I am for you,” He said. (Were those tears in his eyes?)

“Thank you,” I told him. We then headed for home. At last, my string of bad luck was over.

Meanwhile...

“I noticed you were talking to Katie quite a bit.”

“Yeah.”

“What did you talk about?”

“I asked her out on a date.”

“Oh my. How did she respond?"

“She said yes.”

“Oh Logan, I'm so proud of you!”

Part 3: In this part, Katie attends her first date. (Very Long Part.)

School Cafeteria, Monday...

“I hope you both do well,” Linda said to Lucy. We were all huddled around one of the school café tables enjoying our lunch break, and Lucy just informed us that She and Colin will be attending another Smash Tournament.

“We'll do our best, but bayonetta is proving to be a nightmare,” Colin said, shaking his head.

“I've seen some of the videos. She is WAY too safe,” Sam commented.

“You can add Cloud to that list as well,” I added. My friends all kinda nodded at that as well.

“Yeah, I mean. Sam actually looks like she knows what she's doing when she plays as him,” Lucy joked.

“Oh shut up!” Sam spat, and Lucy started laughing.

“So what are you doing over the weekend Kate?” Linda then asked me. “You want to come over to my house?”

“Unfortunately I can't,” I said. Oh, how I was hoping this would come up. I didn't say anything yet, because I wanted to tell them all in person.

“What's going on?” Sam asked. I was now grinning from ear to ear.

“I have a date,” I stated. Everyone's eyes bugged out.

“Who is it?” Lucy asked, almost as a single word. I then told them everything that happened with me and Logan that day.

“I didn't want to text it to you all, because I wanted to tell you in person,” I explained.

“Well Katie, I think congratulations are in order,” Colin said.

“Thanks,” I said back.

“It would seem your bad streak with guys is over,” Lucy then stated.

“Yes...yes it is,” I said, firmly, and it was that memory that woke me up Saturday morning.

Saturday...

Truth be told, I didn't know for sure when I'd be going. I just knew that Logan would call me when it was time for us to head out. Dad was going to drive me out to the bowling ally, and he would then pick me up when we were done.

I had decided to wear a light red sweatshirt, and a pair of jeans today. All I could do now was wait for Logan's phone call. It was about a quarter to three when the phone rang, and I rushed over to it.

“Hello?” I answered.

“Oh good. I got your number right,” Logan's voice answered.

“Yes you did,” I stated. “Is it time for us to head out?”

“Yeah,” Logan said.

“Alright, we'll see you soon,” I said. We said our good-byes, and I hung up the phone.

“Was that him?” Dad asked, coming down stairs.

“Yes,” I answered.

I raced to my room to grab the essentials: Shoes, socks, phone, etc. I then headed out to the truck where Dad was waiting for me. We then headed for Sunset Lanes.

* * * *

Once we drove into the parking lot, I saw Logan waiting for us just outside the front door. Dad parked the truck, and we both got out to greet him. Logan was dressed in a pair of slacks and a jersey with what looked like a team logo on it. Somehow I had the feeling that this guy played for a team. I wasn't sure though. (Note the sarcasm.)

“Hi Logan,” I said, as we walked up.

“Hi Katie,” He greeted back, and we shook hands.

“How you doing Sport?” Dad greeted, and they both shook hands as well.

“Doing okay Sir,” Logan said.

“Good to hear,” Dad said back. “Anyways, you two have fun. Call me when it's time to pick you up Katie.”

“I will,” I said.

“Also,” Dad added, sternly. His eyes narrowed. “You both play nice,” He stated. We both knew what he was hinting at.

“We will,” Logan said. Dad nodded, and then headed for the truck. With that, I turned my attention back to Logan.

“So, are you ready for me to show you the ropes?” He asked.

“Yes I am,” I said back. Logan opened the door, and allowed me entry. As I passed him, I smirked to myself. “Maybe I'll do the same for you if the time comes,” I muttered to myself. (Winky Face.)

“Hey Tom,” Logan greeted the Clerk at the Desk.

“Hi Logan,” He greeted. “Oh, and I see you have a friend.”

“Yeah, I'm teaching her how to bowl,” Logan said. “Any lanes open?”

“I'll set up Lane Seven for you,” Tom stated. “How's your Dad doing?” He then asked, as he entered some numbers.

“Dad's fine,” Logan said. Tom seemed accustomed to Logan's way of speaking, and didn't seem concerned by his short answers.

“Okay, you're all set,” The Clerk stated. Logan dug into his pocket for his wallet, and gave Tom a few bills. He also remembered to add in a pair of rental shoes as well. (Logan had his own.)

As I took my shoes off, and replaced them with the bowling shoes, Logan set up the lane for us. Within a few seconds the score card as on the screen above us. I also tested out a few ball weights to find one that might suit me the best.

“I'm kinda surprised you don't have your own ball,” I stated.

“I do, I just didn't want to lug it around today,” He explained. I blinked a bit.

“Oh,” I chirped in response.

“Okay, I set it up for you to go first, so I can see how you do,” Logan told me. “go ahead, and throw it as you would normally.”

“Okay,” I said with a shrug. I took aim at the pins. With both hands, I wound up my throw, and then launched the ball forward...and a bit to the left. It went into the gutter after about halfway down the lane. I tried again with my second shot, and this one went to the right almost instantly.

“Wow, that's terrible,” Logan stated. At least he was honest with how he felt, and didn't sugar coat it to make me feel better.

“I told you I suck,” I said, with a shrug.

“I'll take you through the steps,” He then said, and picked up his ball. “first, hold the ball at about shoulder height,” He instructed, and then did so him self. “When you pull back, you want to kinda cradle the ball somewhat, and not hug it like a teddy bear,” He stated. I couldn't help but laugh out of embarrassment, as I hid my now red face in my hands. He chuckled a bit him self as well.

“Sorry,” I said.

“It's fine,” He replied. “You also don't want to throw the ball. You want to let it slowly touch the lane, and then use your hand to guide it,” He then continued. “Here, watch,” He stated. He then took his shot. Let me tell you, the only time I had ever seen a throw like that was on TV. Logan had lied to me. He wasn't good at Bowling...He was GREAT at it. He landed a perfect strike.

“Holy cow!” I snapped, in awe.

“Now you try,” He then said. I did my best to imitate what he did. I let my self dip down a bit upon getting ready to release the ball, and let it roll across the lane. This time I actually knocked over some pins.

“Nice,” I stated. Logan then nodded his approval. I then took my shot at the spare, but I missed.

“Try to keep your arm straight,” Logan advised. I nodded, and let him take his turn. “That should be good,” He said, right as he released the ball. How he could call his shot right there was beyond me. Especially since it looked like it was headed for the gutter. However, the ball curved back into the pins, and he scored another strike.

“Okay, that's impressive,” I stated.

“What?” He asked.

“That you know your shot just as you throw it,” I clarified. Logan just shrugged.

“I'm just good at it I guess,” He said. It was now my turn. Logan was also walking me through the steps this time slowly. I then made my attempt. I managed to knock over half the pins this time. I then took my next shot, and managed to score a spare.

“Bingo!” I snapped. That was my first ever spare by the way.

“Much better,” Logan added. Now it was his turn again. “Ah nuts!” He moaned. I watched as the ball ran it's course down the lane. It looked fine to me, but it curved a little too sharp, and missed two pins. I was still trying to figure out how he knew. That's when I remembered something. I heard Officer Peterson's voice in the back of my mind.

“Logan is mildly autistic.”

I remember Logan having very high focus when we were doing Fists. That same hyper focus must have a mapped out route in which he makes his throws, and is able to calculate his spin with it. He had a very unfair advantage over anyone who competed against him.

As we exchanged turns, I decided to change the subject to something else.

“So, are you seeing anyone else?” I asked him. Logan sighed a bit, and I paused.

“No,” He said, glumly.

“I'm surprised,” I stated.

“Most girls don't want to be around me,” He said.

“Why?” I asked.

“They say they don't want to be around a Retard,” He explained. I was appalled a this.

“You're not retarded,” I told him. “You're bit awkward, I'll admit, but after what I've just seen you do, you are not retarded.”

“That is the nicest thing anyone outside my family has ever said to me,” He said, with a smile. “What about you?”

“What about me?” I asked.

“Are you seeing other guys?” He asked me. I snorted. I then recounted a few of my school stories for him.

“So yeah, most of the guys I know are too chicken to give me a chance,” I said.

“That's sad,” Logan said back, in his usual flat voice.

“And then we met each other, and it seems everything changed,” I then pointed out. Logan shrugged, and gave me a smirk.

“Maybe it's a sign,” He suggested. I smiled it him.

“Perhaps,” I said back. He nodded, and then pointed back at the lane. I turned my attention back to the pins, and took my shot.

“That might be good,” He stated. We both watched intently as the ball made it's way down the lane. Time seemed to slow as the ball struck the pins, until the last one fell.

“YES!” We both cheered. Logan and I both exchanged a high five, and I got to see that magnificent X on one of my frames. I pulled out my phone, and took a picture of it.

“I want to remember this,” I told Logan, who seemed a bit puzzled. He just shrugged, and followed up with another strike of his own.

* * * *

We must have played for at least a good three hours. Logan was also nice enough to buy dinner there for the both of us. Eventually though, it was time for me to head home.

“Well, I better call Dad now,” I told him.

“I could drive you back,” Logan then offered. I paused a bit. I had amused one of his parents had dropped him off here in the same manner as me. I didn't know he'd driven himself until now. I didn't know how Dad would take that.

“Let me check with my Dad,” I said, and then called him. “Hey Dad,” I greeted, into my phone.

“Hey Katie, you ready to pick me up?” Dad asked.

“Uh, Logan offered to give me a ride back,” I told him. The silence told me Dad was thinking about it.

“Okay, but activate your GPS,” He insisted. “I'm not saying anything is going to happen, but just on the off change...you know.”

“I know what you mean,” I said. Given all that happened to us last year, we were all a bit more paranoid then usual, but at the same time, Dad at least understood that he shouldn't deny someone a chance to prove their trust. We then hung up. “He said it's okay,” I said. If anything else, this was a good trust building exorcise.

“He doesn't trust me does he,” Logan noticed. I sighed a bit.

“After what we went through last year, we're a bit more paranoid then usual,” I explained to him. “I hope you're not upset.”

“No, I'm not upset. I know trust is hard to earn nowadays,” Logan said. “I'd like to prove you can trust me.”

“This is a good way to start,” I said. He nodded, and we both walked to his vehicle. Well, I don't know if it was his, but it was the one he was driving. We both walked up to a gray SUV, and Logan and I both got in.

I provided directions, as Logan drove down the road, until he stopped right outside my house.

“Thanks Logan, I had a good time,” I said to him.

“You want to do it again sometime?” He asked me.

“I'd love too,” I said back. I exited the truck, and waved him good-bye. He then left as well.

“So, how'd it go?” Dad asked me, as I entered the house. He was seated on the couch in the living room with his laptop beside him.

“It was great,” I stated.

Calling autistic people 'retarded' is one of the things that people I know have debated about a lot. This part definitely helped show some of their more positive traits. Good stuff.

Final Part: In this part, The girls share an afternoon of tie ups and conversation.

I woke up fairly late the next morning. After I had breakfast, I actually had to get dressed for a sparring session with Dad. We usually do this later in the evening, but every so often we'll do so in the late morning as well.

About an hour after I ate, I put on my gym shorts and sports bra, grabbed a water bottle and a towel, and head down into the basement for a good bout of kicks and punches. Dad was all set, but I needed to put my hair into a ponytail first. Once my hair was dealt with, I took my fighting stance in front of him, and we went to town on each other.

We decided to work on my defensive game today, as Dad had stated many times that I often let the rush get to me, and I then get a bit too aggressive. I had very little offense during the next hour or so, but that was okay. I wasn't practicing my offense this time around. I was practicing blocking, dodging, and spotting openings which I threw quick and precise strikes against.

“Very good Katie,” Dad complimented, as I got in a quick jab to his shoulder.

“Thanks,” I chirped back. He shrugged the hit off like it was nothing, (which it kinda was,) and we were back at it again. This time Dad tried to fake me out. He left that same opening again, but this time was ready for my jab, and grabbed hold of my wrist. I however, had his block scouted myself, and saw that it had it's own opening, and hit him in the side of the ribs with my knee.

“Excellent!” Dad claimed, as he shrugged that hit off as well. I was feeling pretty good about myself right now. I then recomposed myself.

“I hope you aren't getting too old for this,” I mocked in a playful tone.

“Oh, that's the way you want to play, huh?” Dad questioned. We both eyed each other, and the fists started flying again. I was on the defensive as usual. This time however he had successfully played me, and within a few moments I ended up with my back against his chest. One of his arms was around me, and pinned my arms to my sides. His other hand clamped over my mouth.

“Well, how about it Katie?” Dad asked, as he leered down at me. I looked up at him with a futile look on my face. “I'm I too old for this?”

“Mmm mm,” I hummed into his hand.

“Are you sorry?” He then asked me. This was my punishment for taunting him. I sighed a bit.

“Mmm hmm,” I hummed again. He then took his hand off my mouth, and then let me go. It was only now that I realized how tiring that session was. I poured water over myself, and dried off with the towel. We both then headed back upstairs.

I returned to my room, and put my towel into the dirty laundry hamper. I then took a huge drink of water from my bottle. I coughed a bit once I was done. I was feeling too lazy to change, so I then headed back downstairs as I was where Dad and I had a lunch of cottage cheese and fruit.

“So, what's he like?” Linda asked me. It was later in the afternoon, and my friends were visiting today. There were several activities going on all at once in the TV room. Lucy and Linda were playing Co-op For Glory on Smash. Meanwhile Amy and Lauren were brushing up on their tying skills. Sam and I were serving as the...well, victims I guess. For lack of a better term. The subject of conversation however centered around one thing.

“Logan's very friendly, but very awkward in a conversation,” I responded, as Amy tied my hands in front of me again. I had her tying them in front so I could watch her, and advise her as necessary.

“How so?” Sam had then asked, as Lauren bound her hands as well. “That's a mistake right there Lauren,” She then added.

“What? what did I do wrong?” She asked.

“Hold on a sec,” Sam said, and then looked at me, as I was waiting to give my answer until I had her attention.

“The thing is, Logan is autistic. He says things in a very flat and blunt manner,” I answered. “He's also not afraid to freely express himself on a matter.”

“Can you give us an example?” Lucy asked. All tying activity kinda took a pause for right now, as this was proving to be a bit more interesting.

“Well, when we first met, I told him I suck at bowling,” I explained. “And when he saw me bowl, he stated outright that I was terrible.”

“Hey, at least he's honest with you,” Lauren said, with a shrug, and a sly grin.

“That's what I thought too,” I said, and then turned my attention back to Amy's work. “Amy, a one loop cinch ain't gonna cut it,” I told her.

“I didn't want to risk squeezing the ropes to tight,” She then pointed out.

“Yeah, but look,” I stated, as I maneuvered my fingers to the cinch, slid it to one side, and slipped my hand out of it's rope cuff.

“Oh, that's a problem,” Amy said, with a nervous look.

“You want me to show you again?” I asked her.

“Yes please,” Lauren said. I untied the knots in the rope, as she held her hands out in front of her, so I could show her what I meant. Lucy decided to bring us back to the Logan subject again.

“I'm curious about one thing concerning Logan though,” She said, as she wrecked both members of the opposing team with Ike's up smash. “Autism usually comes with a form of compensation,” She stated. “Is there anything really neat that he can do?” She asked.

“Yes there is,” I said back, as I wound the rope around Amy's wrists. “When he's bowling, he can like...draw the route his ball will follow in his mind. He can even call if it's a strike or not right as the ball leaves his hand.”

“That's pretty impressive,” Sam stated, with a nod of approval.

“This is why I say Autism isn't a handicap. It's a trade off,” Linda then said. “I mean, sure, the brain under develops one one spot, but hyper develops in another.”

“Logan seems to match that description,” I said. My attention then turned to Amy's tie again. “Now then Amy, can you slide the cinch over to escape from that?” I asked her. Amy fumbled around with her hands, but was unable to perform such a task given that I had wound the cinch a few times rather then just once.

“Nope,” She chirped.

“Is it so tight, as to be painful?” I then asked. Amy shook her head no.

“No, it feels just right somehow,” she answered.

“Great, now are you ready to try with me again?” I asked. Amy nodded yes, and I untied her.

“How are you doing over there Lauren?” Linda then asked, as she trounced all over an opposing Link.

“I think I'm getting it,” Lauren said.

“So Katie, is Logan a Full Time Bowler?” Sam then asked me. I blinked a bit.

“You know? I don't know for sure,” I responded, now wondering why I hadn't asked him that myself. “I know he's part of a league, but I forgot to ask him about that little detail.”

“He seems like quite a catch to me,” Linda said. I felt my face turning a bit red upon hearing that.

“Well, we'll see,” I said. In the back of my mind though, I was kinda hoping she was right.

“You know, you should invite him over for a visit,” Sam then said. Her tone sounding a bit more serious. “I mean, it's only fair.”

“I was thinking about it,” I said. “He could meet you all as well.”

“I'm up for that,” Lucy said, with a grin.

“The thing is, I don't want to rush at him with everything all at once. I don't want to scare him off. If you know what I mean,” I then explained.

“We're not expecting you to,” Linda stated. “It's always best to start slow.”

“I was going to chat with him over the phone, or Facebook, or whatever for a about a few weeks or so, and then maybe invite him over,” I suggested aloud.

“That sounds like a good idea,” Lucy complimented. I smiled, and then turned my attention back to Amy's binding job.

“This is much better Amy,” I told her, as I tested my bonds out. Amy couldn't help but smile.

“Thanks,” She said.

“Would you like to tie my hands behind my back?” I asked her.

“Oh yes,” She answered, in a gleeful tone, and began to untie me again.

“And if you do a good enough job...” I started, and let the suspense build a bit. “...I'll let you gag me with one of those bandannas,” I said. (Of course I brought some gagging materials with me.)

“With pleasure,” Amy sneered.

Amy had untied me, and then went around behind me. She guided my hands together behind my back, and started her tie up again. I felt the cinches, and then the final knot being applied.

“There ya go,” She said. I wiggled for a bit. Truth be told, I could escape this, but only if I slid my hands underneath me. I wasn't going to do that to her. This was a well earned victory for her.

“Wow, I'm really stuck,” I complimented. “I guess I won't be able to stop you from gagging me,” I sighed, and everyone laughed. Amy then picked up the bandanna. “You want to learn how to do it right?” I then asked her.

“Uh, sure, I guess,” She said.

“Okay, tie a knot in the center of it, but not too tight,” I instructed. She tied the knot in front of me, so I could watch. She tied the knot slowly, as if waiting for me to let her know when to stop. “That's good right there,” I stated, and she stopped.

“Hmm, nice and soft,” she pointed out.

“That's right, you don't want it too firm, or it won't be comfortable,” I explained. She then walked back around behind me. “One more thing,” I quickly added.

“Yes?” She asked.

“We don't like gags tied over our hair,” I stated.

“Oh, gotcha,” she said. With that, she took hold of my ponytail, and draped it over my left shoulder. She then held the knot in front of my mouth. I opened my mouth to accept it, and Amy knotted it off behind my head. It was a bit looser then I would have liked, but that was okay. I then jerked my head back to put my hair behind me again.

“Cnngrrshllshnnsh,” I said, through my gag, and everyone laughed. “Yhh hhvv shhshhphlly ttdd nn ghggh mh,” I praised.
