Has this site rapidly decreased in popularity?

Postby Oohmynameisblue » Fri Dec 23, 2016 12:20 pm

So i was putting tieupgames.net in my web address bar but accidentally pressed enter before the net and cliked on the first site that popped up, thinking it was this. But it was an analytical thing and i found some things quite surprisingly (almost 15 000 new visitors daily, are you sure?)

But this surprised me a lot (see pic).

I thought the dite had decreased in activity as of late - hardly any posts in TUG Pics and Videos nowadays - but this is a significant drop if its true.

Alexa is a very trusted source so i cant really argue with it.

What do you guys think?

EDIT: Take note of the scale, it seems inverted with highest numbers at the bottom, lowest at the top.

Probably due to Summer completely over, and most people are busy with families for Christmas/Winter? Just a hypothesis. I'm sure they (the guests) will be back.

No, I can confirm with you that there's nothing alarming or surprising about the Alexa site ranking graph you posted.
This has been very much the norm for the past handful of years.

There's an activity spike during the summer.
In fact, there are ALWAYS more guests on here during the months of June, July and August.
November, December and January are always the low points for forum activity and general usage.
Things usually pick up again in spring.

I must say though, that this December is quite a bit more lively than the last few Decembers on this site.
An impressive amount of new stories have popped up during the past couple weeks and we also have several new members joining and actually posting comments and starting new threads.

This brings me to another question, was the site really considered popular? You have to think about 2 things, guests and registered users.
Woah, don't mind if I do.

I meant more relative to the amout of visitors. And well...yes. It is 243 160th as of now in the world, and there are a billion websites in the world. So its not half bad. Again according to Alexa.

Thanks to the rest of you too for the explanations.

Some more things to think about:
- India alone makes up almost a thid of all visitors, and its the ~33 000th most visited website there. More people visit from there than any other country (I suppose in part because of the sheer amount of people living there).
- India and the USA alone make up over half of all visitors.
- The UK makes up less than 9% of visitors, the same as Poland.
- The bounce rate is 30% of visitors, meaning 30% of all people to visit never leave the homepage.
- Less than 15 hours are spent by everyone on tieupgames.net daily (apparently, seems surprising)
- More than 1 in 8 visitors came here straight after deviantart.com

All courtesy of alexa.

Surprising at first, but then when you stop to think about it, it makes perfect sense considering India is by far, the most populated country where a sizeable amount of people have knowledge of English. Given the poor level of fluency of most of those guests, it is not surprising that the retention rate (% of guest from India who actually sign up and participate) be so low.

Still interesting to read.
That's for pulling out those stats for us Ohhmynameisblue.

The best way to keep the board activity up and healthy is to post comments on new stories/new chapters that pop up, whenever possible.

It seems to pick back up the pace now. Probably since break ends for most people.
