Corruption is Legal in America

Postby SolidSnickerdoodle » Sat Mar 19, 2016 1:19 pm

I recently found this video over on a channel called Represent.Us. While I had long heard that the wealthy influence politics, and believed as much, I had no idea how bad it really was.

I highly suggest giving it a watch. It's extremely insightful and provides a fresh perspective on American Legislature.

The Spoils System, which has existed since the beginning of our republic, is alive and well. As Obama said, "Elections have consequences." The winners get to pick ambassadors, nominate judges and justices, and generally behave like they were kings. Wow, ifJoe Schidt, the rag man donated 100k to my campaign, ot=r to my super PAC, you can bet your ass I've got a nice, cushy job for him, like a district court judgeship, and the ambassador to the Bahamas. or somewhere else where it's sunny all year long.

Almost no one else is like North Korea unless they're at war. That's hardly a bragging point.

No, it's not. I'm not corrupt and i assume neither are you. Most people in the working and middle classes likely are not corrupt either. So technically you are correct that corruption is not everywhere in America.
But it most definitely is everywhere on Wall Street. Maybe not all big business is corrupt (imo that's a big maybe), but enough of it is corrupt to affect us all... deeply. That's why someone like Donald Trump (who openly says we should keep wages low) can run for President and you and i never could. That's why someone like Sanders - a man with the most vision for a just system of government since FDR - can still be struggling in the presidential race while politicians with ties to Wall Street are getting more publicity and having an easier time of it.
Meanwhile someone like trump can convince otherwise good or even smart people to side with billionaires like him rather than side with their own best interests by using fear-mongering (the blacks and mexicans are taking away your jobs! Every muslim is a terrorist!) rather than really telling it like it is (business owners want to save money by paying the fewest possible workers to work the hardest they can for the least amount of money they can get away with paying them; the average muslim, black, or atheist no more wants violence than any normal God-fearing Christian does, illegal immigrants add far more to the entire national economy than they take away).
The people who crashed pour economy love Donald trump. They even like Hilliary Clinton. Ted Cruz I don't know about, but they definitely do not like Bernie Sanders because he would regulate their actions. He wouldn't make them poor or tax them out of existence (unlike what most say), but he would force them to not engage in outright fraud or predatory lending practices (unlike any of the other candidates).
There are a few things i disagree with him about, but I much prefer to elect someone to the left of my position than someone far to the right of it.

How else can you explain why such vile scum like the Clintons are not in prison and why Obama hasn't been impeached and imprisoned and why a tax cheat like Al sharpton is a free man.

Because imprisoning someone requires criminal wrongdoing, as does impeachment. Next softball?

And the forementioned have all been caught in the act but the gutless and corrupt judicial system in this country would rather cowtow to political correctness and rather than administer justice.

Seriously? You think the republicans in the supreme court and in Congress gave Hillary (never mind the others) a free pass because of political correctness and so on?

I'll give them credit for not allowing her to play the gender card and have been putting the screws to her as for her husband the only reason he remained in office and free is because Janet Reno played politics and blocked any investigations that if persued further would've landed Bubba in club fed and we all know that the supreme and federal courts are filled almost to the brim with Clinton and Obama appointees and political correctness is the reason why the spineless jellyfish in the senate and house won't impeach Obama.

I'm gonna regret this, but what the hell. I'll bite. What felony has Obama committed while in office?

If by screws you mean "multiple investigations, including one that has gone longer than the investigations into the Kennedy assassination and 9/11 combined, that have turned up absolutely nothing", sure.

LOL. Reminder that the only thing they could find to impeach him over was a blowjob from a consenting adult, while Republicans LITERALLY HAD A CHILD RAPIST as Speaker of the House.

werewolf wrote: and we all know that the supreme and federal courts are filled almost to the brim with Clinton and Obama appointees

4 out of 8 (until very recently 9) justices, appointed by two guys who were President for a combined 16 years? Unheard of! TO THE BRIMMMMMMM!

I'm not certain you understand what the duties of the Supreme Court actually are in the first place.

werewolf wrote: and political correctness is the reason why the spineless jellyfish in the senate and house won't impeach Obama.

"Spineless" was not impeaching Reagan for literally selling arms to enemies of the state, not failing to impeach someone who has committed no impeachable offenses. You don't seem to realize that there's a lot more required for impeachment than "blurfur, I don't like you". As for "political correctness", it's a term used by stupid white people when they don't get their way. Deal with it.

Actually, corruption is NOT legal in America. There are plenty of laws against it, at all levels of government.

The problem, is that the politicians largely ignore them, and, when brought to the attention of law enforcement officials, they ignore them, too.

Spot on and nowhere is this more true than the war on domestic terror/ drugs for example if one has a propane heater in the house or propane tanks even though one has a gas grill or a hot plate you can still be charged with setting up a meth lab or be accused of being a domestic terrorist just because they have more than a few guns or are stockpiling food and other survival goods.
