EDIT: I have created a tie that works here: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=20614&p=139358#p139358
Does anyone have a knot that will allow me easily shorten a rope one-handed but not re-lengthen it when tugged on? I'm considering trying a spread-eagle tie but have no way to get my hands tight. I know about the "two ring device" but I don't have any rings and it seems it may be hard to undo under load and I know the traditional way is to use a sheepshank knot but that looks hard one-handed, can't be changed easily, and falls apart easily. I did some rope-tossing wizardry this morning and created something that seems to work. I can slide the knot both ways when I grab it, but tugging on the line does not allow it to move. Wondering if there is any other ideas. When combined with the knot on my cuffs (tumble hitch), I should be able to get the above rope tight and pull the black end on the cuff rope to release them.
