What is your opinion on Trump

Do you think trump is going to be a great president or do you hate him and want him to lose and what do you think of him??

I, personally, have NO desire to see Mr. Donald J. Trump, in the White House, as the next President of the United States.

Just the fact that he's the putative Republican nominee shows that there is something very badly wrong with this country. I don't like Hillary either as she's a corrupt corporate shill and a warhawk, but at least she isn't batsh*t crazy like Trump (or indeed half of the Republicans in high office).

My opinion is probably wholly negative. Trump is just another populist and as a rule their ideas are pretty shit...and I think they know. Trump isn't an idiot who doesn't know his ideas are bad or not even possible, he just doesn't care and is willing to support them anyway if enough people are dumb or angry enough to want them.'

He also doesn't have the dignity to become the leader of the free world and he's not a person I would trust with enough nukes to blow up the world.

Trump is a product of an angry Republican base electorate, pissed off because it gave Republicans majorities in congress to fight the Obama agenda, and instead of doing so, they folded like someone with a pair of 2's, looking in to a full house.

I don't particularly like him, but I'll hold my nose and vote for him, because the alternative - a Hillary Clinton presidency - would, I believe, put my country at risk of being drawn into a global conflict. She would be regarded as weak; the Middle East nations would have no respect for her, and the probability of another 9-11 attack would increase. Margret Thatcher, she isn't.

I pray I'm wrong, because it looks more and more, like Hillary Clinton will win the presidency. But there is always the possibility of a campaign-ending gaffe (on both sides) or, in Hillary's case, an indictment. But I don't think Loretta "Holder in a skirt" Lynch, will allow her gal pal, Hillary, to be indicted, even if the evidence guaranteed a slam-dunk "guilty" verdict.

Alternatively it was because the Republicans were so obsessed with fighting Obama that they neglected their voters needs and thought they could get away with it as long as they kept giving some small ''presents'' like doubling down on fighting gay marriage and the like. That's probably something the voters support but it isn't doing anything to help their voter base out economically and neither is being obsessed with thwarting the president.
And then Trump comes along and he does notice their economic situation. Protectionist policies will help them a lot more then fighting to tax rich people less.

...this alternate history brought to you by the same delusional gasbags that brought you the phrase "Reality-Based Community". Seriously, how many times can you watch these obstructionist children scream "I get everything I want, or I burn it to the ground" before you can't lie to yourself any more?

What Trump actually represents is the naked id of everything the Republicans have tried to appeal to since the southern strategy was conceived and later perfected by human dumpster-fire Lee Atwater. Nativism, racism, misogyny...the real reason he makes the Republican establishment nervous is because he brought a normal whistle to their dogwhistle party.

Say what you will about Barry Goldwater, but he was dead on the money when he predicted where the GOP's religious pandering would get them.

And we should believe you this time after you said the same thing in 2008 and 2012 and were proven very, very wrong....why?

Thirty years from now you people will still be shouting "ANY DAY NOW!!!!" through gritted teeth, just like you are today, and just like you were 20 years ago. No amount of repetition by your talk radio heroes will make what they say true, nor will there be any indictment for criminal behavior that never happened in the first place. I think he's playing us all. I think he's got an angle no one sees yet. If he wins, I think his presidency will be vastly different than anyone thinks it will be. His policies sound monstrous, but I think they are all smoke and mirrors. He's just saying what he needs to say to rile up the base and get elected, but he has no actual intention of following through on any of it. And I have no idea what he actually will do.

But I think he's an important candidate. I think he's the monster that needs to exist right now to show us how broken and ridiculous our political system actually is. For better or for worse, thing will change forever once November is over.

And you don't think Trump will?
Remember how you used to like to say how people would vote for Hitler if he ran today and put a (D) in front of his name? Well, you're proving that very point with Trump, only its Republicans (along with ill-informed democrats revolted by Hillary) who are doing the voting.
Godwin's law notwithstanding, Trump is the closest thing we have ever had to Hitler (or any dictator for that matter) run for the office. He quotes Mussolini, reads Hitler, admires the Ayatollah, is supported by the KKK, calls Kim Il Jung a hero, supports the Japanese civilian internment camps from WWII (which even some republicans admit was a tragic mistake)... in short he would be just like these people if he can get away with it.
And you think this person is better than Hillary? I agree a corporate shill like her is not my first choice for president either, but really?! Seriously? What is this country coming to when we vote for what we once were proud to fight against?
Personally I would rather put them both in prison and elect Bernie Sanders, but unless the justice system acts usually swiftly and sagaciously i guess that's not happening.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but what do you think I was just doing? I agree that Clinton is a typical corrupt politician, but Trump is a total whack job who acts more like Archie Bunker than like a statesman. And you consider him the lesser of two evils? I can't help but wonder what your basis for comparison is. I'd sooner vote for one of the Three Stooges! Literally.

In 1971, there were kids wearing "Archie Bunker for President" T-shirts.

Trump is corrupt. He's just less corrupt than Clinton. (And he didn't get four people killed, nor has he left in his wake, 47 other bodies.) But the best reason to vote for him, is that he said he would appoint Trey Gowdy as Attorney General. I can see prison jumpsuits for John Koskinen (sp), Lois Lerner, and those assholes at the VA who have never been called to account for the abysmal treatment of veterans at VA hospitals. Hillary Clinton, too.

It would not surprise me if Clinton would appoint Jane Fonda as Secretary of Defense, keep that partisan hack, Loretta Lynch, on as AG, and hold weekly flag burnings on the White House lawn. She also said that appointing Barack Obama to the Supreme Court, would be a "great idea."

LOL. Remind me which one is currently losing a lawsuit over their pyramid scheme "university" again?

drawscore wrote:(And he didn't get four people killed, nor has he left in his wake, 47 other bodies.)

Nor did Hillary Clinton. Ignoring the fact that Benghazi allegations are bullshit (and indeed Gowdy has admitted it's political theater) and the Secretary of State has no command authority over the military in the first place, I'd love to see a source on your "47 other bodies". I'd bet a fair amount of money that you're basing it on a long-discredited email forward from the mid-90s.

Reminder that your good pals have now wasted more time and money investigating a "scandal" that they admit has no meat to it than they did investigating the largest terrorist attack in world history (during which the head of their party and indeed the country sat gaping at a children's book), a war waged under false pretenses that killed 4,000+ Americans and 1,000,000+ civilians, and 60+ embassy/consulate/diplomatic mission attacks *combined* and have still found nothing. At what point do you admit that reality in no way resembles what you wish to be true?

Ignoring for the moment how childish and asinine the above is, hearing you whine about "partisan hack"ery while repeating today's FOX News talking points is so rich in irony that it's unbelievable.

Right. That's why she's recently tried passing a law making flag burning a felony... in clear violation of the first Amendment.

Even that ultra-conservative nincompoop Antonin Scalia wouldn't have gone along with that! And you think Hillary wants to burn flags herself? Just how ill-formed and prejudiced are you?!
I'm not even going to touch on the other equally-bad points you've made. There just isn't enough time in the day, nor can i work up any great passion for defending Hillary myself.
I dislike Hillary very much and definitely don't look forward to eight years of her Presidency. But at least she's sane. Wrongheaded as a republican but sane. I swear though that if the people in this country are actually dumb enough to elect Trump as the next POTUS, this country is going to find itself headed right for the ashcan of history. We're already on the way down and have been for a generation, but President Trump will mean this country is too far gone to save as the foremost political power in the world, and possibly economically as well.

I like Bernie Sanders. But Clinton has most of the super delegates committed. They are current and former Democrat officeholders and Central Committee Chairmen and Vice Chairmen, etc. They want to keep the same corrupt lying party policies we have had for decades now. Clinton waves her arm across the sky and tells us how she will follow in the footsteps of Obama. And she will eliminate the poor by putting Big Bird on a new $1 coin to encourage children to save. I just surmise she might come up with some such. Elizabeth Warren, the screaming Senator from Massachusetts will be the Democrat mouthpiece drowning out opposition to any Democrat legislation. I'm sick of the rhetorical baloney we are subjected to every day, it seems.

I am sick of incompetence by the political agencies managing our affairs. Rhode Island hired a publicist (not even a Rhode Islander, BTW) to create a slogan to encourage tourism in the state. Seems the best they could come up with was : "Rhode Island, Cooler and Warmer" emblazoned on a graphic of a big white sail boat. That's it folks, that was to be spread all around the U.S. at a cost of $5,400,000. Cooler and Warmer. We the People didn't care much for that. Well, lets see the video which was to show the state in more detail. The video was proudly displayed on local TV. It showed some beautiful waterfront restaurants. Very nice indeed. But eyebrows rose and questions flew when the video showed a blonde youth having a grand time skateboarding. Wait a minute...what is that smoky hill in the background?? GOOD GRIEF ITS A VOLCANO!! There are no volcanoes in Rhode Island. The scene was filmed in Iceland! And the restaurants and beach were in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, not Rhode Island. I can't make this stuff up folks. Our political leaders don't care much about we the people. That includes State and Federal levels.

So, I think Trump has a pretty good chance of being elected President. Some body better shake things up. Maybe we need a Trump in theWhite House.

I remember the Bunker campaign. I saw some campaign buttons for sale in Windsor, ON just across the river from Detroit. They read "Archie Bunker for Prime Minister". Sorry I didn't buy one. Interesting factoid- Detroit is the only place in the contiguous 48 states where you head south to go to Canada.

In the Fall of 1972 US Ambassador to South Vietnam Ellsworth Bunker retired. Longtime radio commentator Paul Harvey suggested replacing Ellsworth Bunker with Archie Bunker. T.T.

Really? You have an odd definition of what constitutes courage then, in my opinion. Bernie Sanders has much more courage than Trump ever had, and more intelligence and integrity too... which last two unfortunately can be liabilities rather than assets in modern day politics. All Trump has is the brazen manner of a used-car salesman and just about the trustworthiness of one as well.

Trump has attracted a following of open racists and anti-semites.
They've been harassing Jewish journalists and ever some Jewish conservatives
on and off line. They were even using a Chrome application to do so until it
was deleted.

His willingness to pander to and foment race hatred renders him utterly
