A little annoyed

Postby Fesselfan » Fri Jul 17, 2009 5:38 am

Hi Folks,

I am a little annoyed, as I have noticed that my stories get reposted on another site, not by me. The person posting them claims that they are his- he doesn't even bother to remove the user information while using copy&paste!

quote from the other site

Harold's Back as 'Fesselfan'
Name: Fesselfan
Comments: This is a story about what happened to me some time ago, while I was still studying at the university.

I met two girls at a campus party there, Angela and Jasmine. They were friends already, and we had a couple of drinks together, talking about the inevitable small talk ("which music do you like" and so on.).
Just to give you a picture of us: I was 23 back then, 6'3'', blonde, solidly built. I wore plain and simple jeans and shirt that evening. Angela was Blonde too, with long hair, lovely brown eyes, about 5'11' and a nice built. She was dressed in black skirt and nylons, a white top and a mint green jacket. I got to know later she was 21 back then. Jasmine was slightly smaller at 5'9'', brown hair of medium length, brown eyes, 20 years and a slim build. She was wearing a long almost white skirt, with a blue blouse. Angela seemed to be the more extrovert of the 2, Jasmine seemed a little shy.

Anyway, back to the story.

Angela and I got along very well and danced a little, while Jasmine seem

It's quite obvious that this is my story "good old study days" from the intimate section here. And it's obvious it has been stolen just a few days ago- my post counter before this posting was 227.

This goes to the schmock who stole the story: you are a poor person. You are worth nothing if you need to steal other persons stories. The only thing you archive is that people who enjoy writing stories are less inclined to publish them somewhere freely- in fact, at first I thought about deleting all my stories here. I won't do that, at second thought. Because you are just a poor <beep>.
If you have any guts, contact me and excuse yourself.

Annoyed

Edit: I am aware that such things get stolen left and right in the net, and to a part I have to accept that. Still, such things make me mad- this is, what i.E. has driven many good bondage photography sites out of the buissness over the years.

Sorry it has happened to you... I have a pretty good idea of who's responsible of this. If it is who I think it is, this person was banned here a long time ago, always ready to start fights, making derogatory comments, etc.

There's no lack in people like those. Even if you could get one of them to understand and stop what they're doing there are at least 7 more who are twice as thick headed. At least this moron left your name plastered all over the story so you still have some credit for it.

It's the internet content gets stolen all the time. Nothing much we can do about it.

All too true... my intention was not that anybody here does anything, I just wanted to voice my anger :)

I have seen it too many times, especially in niche markets like bondage/tug. A lot of photographers etc who try to do things at a professional level- providing people with the stuff they like in good quality- are sooner or later driven out of the buissness by people thinking it all does not cost anything.

I know how much a (at least) halfway professional photoshoot costs. It's hard just to get even. Hey- these are not your typical "I sell 10 Million records a day" pop idols, who don't know where to go with all their money ;)

But I'm getting really off topic now ;)

Cheers

that's quite a...in clean words...annoying. especially when it has been you Fessel who has lived, breathed and gone through each emotion, from the first mention of your antics to the anticipation throughout your events.

however, as its been mentioned previously, sadly there's nothing we can do. :(

Maybe it's because I don't think like most normal people, but if for some reason (God knows why) anyone took some of MY stories and plastered them on another site for all to see, I'd be flattered not annoyed that someone thought it was worth 'stealing' in the first place and giving the stories a wider audience.
Even if they used their name instead of mine, I wouldn't care. Jason Toddman isn't my real name anyway, so the 'real' me is still unknown to all of you who've read my stories. So it'd make absolutely no difference to me anyhow - it's still MY stories being read there. It's not like I'm losing royalties or anything (that WOULD piss me off)!
But, as I said, I don't think like most folks. If I did, maybe I wouldn't be such a masochist. :big:

I can see why FF is annoyed though. Stealing other people's works is not a nice thing, whether or not you see it as a gesture of being nice and spreading it around the world.... it still is not nice, if FF wanted to do that, he would of done that himself, he had posted it on a board.. and it was robbed by someone, who simply could not be bothered to write his own works, which is a terrible shame. You can see this, because he claims himself to be FF when we know full well that he is not, and shows just how shallow some people can be on the internet... Its like someone stealing something personal to you, like money, or a treasured gem of yours.. its simply immoral to do such a thing, FF has every right to be annoyed with this somewhat 'idiot' who has robbed such a great creation and passed it off as his own. It just shows pure laziness and greed.
If anyone was to ever rob my stories from this board, or other boards I have wrote on, I would also be annoyed, I wouldn't feel happy that some is passing my own work off as there own.

Cheers.

I can see that POV, and definitely I do NOT make light of Fesselfan's outrage or anyone else's opinions on this matter, but it could have been worse. Here's why:
Years before I used computers, I drew my own sci fi comic books by hand. I once made about sixty in a continuing series about a boy named Jason Toddman (hence my user name here) who winds up teleported to a futuristic world resembling Larry Niven's Ringworld - with several other characters from different times, and having various adventures there. These books I worked so hard on were stolen from my apartment one day. No copies. No backups. They were lost to me forever! A major piece of my life was stolen away from me and could never be recovered. Now THAT'S thievery! THAT was the second worse day of my life!
I have no idea whatever became of those stories; they've never been published anywhere that I am aware of. If I ever saw the thief again, I would probably do something I'd regret only if I got caught at it!
So I definitely understand where Fesselfan is coming from with his outrage and how he feels. And then some.
But thanks to computer backups at least Fesselfan still has his stories intact. I can NEVER have those comic books back; only my memories of them.
Dare to be different... and make a difference.

But who cares if they pass it off as their own or not...its only a story. Its not like stealing money, which has an actual value. One of the risks of being on the internet is having your writing stolen, then again you were not paid to write it.

Still, I can see why he is annoyed.... its not like you would know, you have next to no stories on this board... so I totally agree with FF that he should be annoyed... not saying it is, I am merely saying that for effect rather than to say 'oh writing stories and having them stolen, is like having money stolen' stop reading me wrong, I am simply saying that I see sense with FF to why he is annoyed, I would be, its not for them to take regardless of the internet world....

And referring to Jason's comment, yes I see why that would effect you with no back ups and them being the only prints I guess that would bother you, but at the end of the day, having your story taken and then for someone else to re-publish it as there own, is unfair on the writer who put effort and time into writing such good stories.

Despite this though, if someone did that with my own stories I would probably still be more amused than annoyed (as long as I still had my own copies of course). But as I said (probably because I'm an "Aspie"), I don't always think in normal ways anyway.
But I can definitely see the annoyance factor that exists for the majority of other writers too.

Just because I don't post stories here doesn't mean I don't know what it's like to have your writing re-posted. (On a side note I have posted under another account just not for a while) I understand your point, I was just sharing my view as well...kind of hoping to debate the issue.

Wow, an old discussion revived :)
As the tittle says...it annoyed me a little, especially as in that thread on that board the "author" not only claimed my story, but my nickname, too.
Of course...my nick is nothing protected, but it still feels a little like someone is trying to impersonate me.

I am *NOT* mad at this, or really angry...in fact, in part it amuses me that someone has so little life to claim another persons one as his own. :-)
I know this is the internet- and a lot of people claim to be things they are not. Examples can be found here, too :-)

Cheers

if i ever write a story and someone steals it...i'll be flattered. Yeah its annoying but its the negative side of the internet.

Unless you are getting published or paid to write stories then i dont see why you should be upset.

I disagree. I put a lot into what I write. I try not to insult the intelligence of any readers I may be lucky enough to attract and check the work quite carefully ( Even if a certain friend still has to keep me on my toes with regard to typos :spank; ).

If I have put the effort in, I want the credit even in my pose as Xtc.

For me immitation isn't the sinceriest form of flattery it's the lowest form of stealing. It shows the person has no brain to use of their own or creative spark on which to draw so they have to stoop to the level of a crimial (its still stealing) to get some kind of attention that they can't get on their own. It makes me upset b/c it has happened to me on other sites and yes I too put a lot of my own personal time and energy into my stories to have some 2 bit lameo take them without asking or acknowleding it. Shame on that person. So grade 2

Forum Rule #34, never ever mention anything that is wrong with you, expecting sympathy, disobeying this rule will probably attract the trolls. :spank;

Sympathy? Who wants sympathy? And for what? What you quoted was merely a statement of fact. I'm an Aspie. So what? What others think of that (partularly people I don't know) is of no concern to me.
