Another Plea.....

Postby chadmc90 » Mon Aug 22, 2016 9:31 pm

Hello guys!

I'm here to once again ask the forum to post feedback to the stories that they are currently reading! It only takes a few minutes to give decent feedback, and it only helps to solidify the stories continuation. Over the years, writers have stopped providing their wonderful stories, and one big reason is because people aren't taking the time to post feedback. It's the only way that they know their work is being enjoyed by readers and it gives them optimism and motivation to continue.

Remember, this is first, and foremost, a website dedicated to stories. The other things like TUG talk and Jump in the Fire are nice, but they shouldn't overshadow the main part of the website. I personally don't agree that Jump in the Fire should even have a place here, but there is a reason for it. If you've never commented on a story, then please do so! Add to the forum and be a reason it comes out of this recession!
Check out my latest story A Cowboy's Dream!

Feedback highly appreciated! Feel free to Private Message me if you prefer to not post on the public forum!

Who cares about commenting on stories? Really, there are more important things to be done, such as participating on useful threads like "The last person to post on this thread wins". It's BY FAR the most viewed/participated on thread here.

On a serious note, it's pretty indicative of the forum's health, or should I say, lack thereof.

I wonder how lost some people would feel if the thread is deleted. I could imagine the ensuing crying people would have because they lost their precious high post count.

If that was the best you can muster and call it 'feedback' then you're part of the issue.

It doesn't take that long to write a comment. Just write down what you liked in a story and what you would have done different. Come on, guys and girls, you're not gagged on these forums, so speak up and give our authors some encouragement. It's really disheartening to see a good story, a reasonable number of views, but almost no comments.

When I was young, my parents taught me always to say thank you for whatever good or kindness others bestowed on me. We owe a big thank you to all the writers on these forums.

I certainly wouldn't mind if "jump in the fire" was removed. In my opinion, it doesn't belong on a forum that's dedicated to stories of tie up games.

While I agree that polite comments (no matter if positive nor negative) can motivate writers, the downfall of this board has been proclaimed since 2010 or so. Yet, strangely, it is still here :D

On a side note, I am toying with the thought about writing another story again or two, after all these years :)

Personally speaking, I especially like reviews that are focused on the story plot and it's characters.
Some of the best reviews I get are ones where readers relate what they like and don't like about the different characters and their various interactions with each other.

I comment by personal message, accept for this one, if the author wants to write more he or she will.

I normally reply to the stories that I like. I also send a personal message if I really like the story. You can also look at the "views" on each thread. That will really tell you if the audience is interested or not. Just because no one comments does not mean it's not a good story.

Feedback is, to some degree, important. It, along with the published number of views. gives the author some indication of the interest shown in his/her efforts to entertain and amuse the other members of the board/forum. Many of us who have written, see the lack of feedback as a lack of appreciation for out efforts, and if that idea creeps in to our minds, then we become "less than inclined" to waste our time. efforts, and talents, on those we perceive to be unappreciative Philistines.

That being said. it should also be noted that members are usually going to comment on those stories that appeal to them. If one likes M/M stories, he/she will probably skip over M/F, F/M, and F/F stories without comment.

But if you like what you read, fine. Say something about it. If you don't like it, then, "piss off, you asshole."

"unappreciative Philistines": Clever. You win the award tonight!

But yes I agree. A LOT of people are only going to comment to stories they like.

Isn't that usually the case? I must admit that I normally don't even start to read a story that involves kids (because that's just wrong, in my opinion), or that is M/F, F/F, F/M or any combination of the letters other than M/M. I'm not reading something if it doesn't appeal to me, and if I'm not reading it, I also can't provide the writer with useful feedback.

Exactly. I *can't* even start reading a story that deals with minors. I'm sure the stories won't have "adult" content in them, but it still makes me feel awkward reading them, if you know what I mean. Just like role playing or talking to anyone through private messages, or the group, I won't talk to anyone under 18. They have to list it in their profile and/or tell me they are 18 or over. Sure, they can still lie, but at least there's proof saying "Well, he said he was 18. He even stated it to me".

I stick with the adult threads for the stories and conversations. :)

I agree with all that has been said. It is important to comment on the stories and provide feedback. If a writer receives enough encouragement they will write more and then we all win. Like kidnapable82 I also send a private message when I really like a story.

The only thing I would take a contrary view of is sniffmyfeet's comment that we should speak up as we are not gagged here. We could easily be gagged while we write a comment about a story....just an idea.
