gay rights movement

Postby mikeybound » Sat May 08, 2010 10:33 pm

i understand that when it comes to flaming topics, this one may have enough fuel to blow up the tri county. but what do you think of gay rights? with our tugs, we're all kinda deviants anyway, so the opinions could be interesting. i wanna hear from gays, straights, religious types, political activists, and all those closet cases (thats right. im talking to you over there.). all replies are welcome!

WOOT!!!!!! I am straight, but I support gays. I have about 5 or so gay friends, and I support them in their "quest" for getting their rights as humans

Gays should have the same rights as everyone else. No one should be treated as a second-class citizen.
Some people say that gay marriage is wrong because there can be no procreation. With 6 billion plus people in the world already, I think there's been more than enough procreating already. Barring a disaster as horrible as the 'Great Tribulation', there is no danger of the human population not maintaining itself. Besides, gay couples could be allowed to adopt all those kids the active proceators create but don't want to keep themselves. Let gays give those kids a loving home rather than be stuck in an orphanage (or whatever those are called these days) where no one cares about them. Then everyone wins.

I think that gay people just scare the older generations who make the rules. the older people did not grow up around them, so they are just a little scared to interact, so they treat them like second class people. I think that our generation will fix it. anyway, I live in massachusetts, and massachusetts is where all the gays flock. but I think that we forgot to mention the bi and tri sexual people out there.

Re: gay rights movement

good point, haloguy. but what's so bad about being bi? you could be straight if you wanted!

When it comes to Gay Rights, being bi or gay is pretty much the same to most 'straights', who see their way as the ONLY way.
I say that anything between mutually consenting adults is okay and no one else's business (as long as they don't flaunt it in public anyway, as I've seen done occasionally).
Pardon my ignorance Haloguy, but what exactly is 'tri'? A mixed gender threesome, or what?
For MY part, I'm pretty much in the category almost no one remembers; 'a'. Just TUGs and a little consensual BDSM suffices for me.

I think being in to tugs and the like kind of make us on this site more accepting of others no mater what they like.
I'm straight my self but have often told people i know i am try ( well try any thing once). I have no problem with gay, bi, etc.. having the rights they deserve.
Let's use all the colors.

not quite true. there is a guy in my grade who is bi, and he has a GF, and she knows that he is bi, but she also knows that bi-sexual means that you like both. so i guess that it is different

I think the argument that allowing gays to marry would 'destroy' marriage is complete. Isn't the biggest destroyer of marriage divorce? So going by that, shouldn't we be making divorce illegal?

But, hey, whatever fits your worldview. :)

Barefootethan: I think you missed a word after complete, but the message comes thru pretty good all the same. And I agree with you 100%. Divorce does far more damage - especially to kids - than gay marriage ever could (especially since I doubt gay marriage causes ANY damage to ANYONE - except to a bigot's worldview).
Haloguy: I said MOST straights - which only means more than 50%. worldwide, not in any particular place. BTW you didn't answer my question: what is a 'tri', or was Anjell serious about it meaning someone who will 'tri' anything?

Well to me it doesn't matter what sexuality a person has. If someone is turned on by males or females has no impact to his person otherwise IMHO.

I wonder, though, why this is suddenly a topic here in so many threads...

Partly because the debate about it is big news in the United States right now. Maybe other places too. Not in Germany though, I'd guess.

I´m for gay rights movement. Until now in Germany are only gay partnerships is allowed, church say if give them more you would distort the institutions of marriage. Some Bishops even would forbid the CDS. :)

Frankly...I don't really care what the church here says about gay marriage. After all, church is private issue. The German law puts homosesexual marriage equal to heterosexual ones (some minor differences are there, but they are largely cosmetic).

Andrew,

two of my friends- both women- married this year.
There are still some differences. If you want to check the german situation (text in german):

http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lebenspart ... ng_zur_Ehe

However, I think one has to admit that the differences are not paramount.

Of course...laws say nothing about social acceptence of gay marriage, but that is a different can of worms...
