Initially it only contained a few lengths of rope, chain, and some padlocks and snap hooks. By the time I was fifteen there were handcuffs, improvised leather restraints, some dog collars, and a home-made ball gag as well! I was in and out of that safe every couple of days, and got sloppy. I came home from school one day to find a note taped to the safe. It said "Be sure to close your safe!" The handwriting was my mother's. I nearly died. I don't know if she merely glanced in then shut the door, realizing the contents to be of a "private" nature, or if she rifled through my toy box, becoming increasingly shocked and alarmed the deeper she dug. What do you think she did? She never mentioned it to me, and I couldn't make eye contact with my own mother for at least a week.
That last part probably gave you away even if nothing else did!
Lots of people knew about MY Tugs, but only because I played Tugs with lots of people. No one else (least of all my mother or aunt) ever knew anything about them until many years later. My mom found my Tugs diary once, but I'd had the foresight to write it in my own made up code and so she couldn't understand what was in it.
And my Tugs equipment was kept in a place she was physically unable to reach - inside the attic right beside my bedroom!
