anyone ever meet someone from online?

Postby Terry » Thu Aug 16, 2012 11:21 am

Nope I've never met anyone online before although i do have a lot of online friends from many sites I go to, some have come and gone over the years and others have remained constant. Still wanting to meet a few in real life though but that will have to wait rhough for a while as I'm sorting personal stuff out so it may be a long time before I get to finally meet someone online.

This topic has been raised before. The general consensus is not only that no one here has met anyone else here but that attempting such a meeting (especially if either participant is under-aged) is a bad idea. There was one fellow who solicited such contacts and afterward claimed to have met several members for TUGs, but details were never discussed and the account seems rather dubious.

Well.. I have both met persons from here and from other sites, too. Some have become close friends. One particular girl (though not from here) I have married- while another one was my marriage witness on that day.
So I reckon for me it's safe to say...yes, I have met someone and it has been worth it.

I stand corrected; :big: but it doesn't happen with such good results all that often AFAIK. I myself never have met anyone I knew online and do not particularly care to either unless it was a purely social occasion with no TUGs involved (except in idle conversation that is); that at least would be pleasant and i can think of several people here I'd like to meet for lunch at a restaurant. TUGs though, no.

Maybe its a matter of personality, too...I never really was fond of online-only "friends".
Especially the BDSM communites (real ones, not internet) are full of people meeting each other, be it for dating or just to have a coffee and chat. Of course, one has to step a little over ones own shadow to do it ;)

I agree 100% with you that I wouldnt want to do a TUG with everyone I have met, even people I am very fond off. To me, the priority is meeting nice people, not bondage partners

I've met some people off this site and sites like it. My perspective is me, a guy, meeting females off this board.

The problem with this forum is that most of the girls are fake. And before we go off on that argument, yes, it is true, but they are never the ones you actually see posting on the forum as regulars. I've never seen a forum with the problem to this extent. Plus, any girl who actually does put herself out here will get bombarded with 30 messages and that's not exactly flattering. Of course, most the guys come off as creeps too.

There really is nothing wrong with meeting up with someone for this kind of stuff. The internet is full of just as many people wanting to kidnap and murder you as there are in the real world, which is very very very few. Anyone with half a brain knows that if something horrible really did happen, you can go to the police and this is a good deterrent against doing anything shady. Let's be honest, these stories on this forum that are "true stories" where such horrible things happen are clearly bullshit and why people believe it is beyond me.

If you REALLY want to meet someone for this stuff, join Fetlife.com. The community is massive, the gatherings and play parties are public, and there are way more people on there than on sites like this. The only problem being you have to come out from behind your computer screen :P

I did meet my last girlfriend online, but it was on Facebook through a mutual friend and Skype. So while we did "know" each other before I visited her in Canada, we had never actually been in the same room. A year after I first met her, I visited her in Canada and that's when we decided to get together. And yes, there was even some TUG action. I mean, we broke up two months later since long distance of *that* magnitude was simply impossible. Still, though, meeting people from the Internet *does* have its merits...

I guess I should ave specified that most of my online chat experience is on this site, and i was basing what I said on this fact. I don't have much experience with other online sites that other people here are talking about, so my viewpoint is evidently skewed. Sounds like I am missing out on something though; but as I am a terminally shy person nowadays in real life this is unlikely to change. Oh well. Hopefully others here have better advice to offer than I am capable of.

Well, I joined project Trevor to meet other gays my age, and within a few days, some people started talking to me and one of them started to hit on me, but he lives 3 states away so I don't want to get serious with him yet.
