Our rights have been revoked the federal government and or military can arrest you without cause or rights. Because of the war on terror they can imprison you for posing any kind of threat. if you say the wrong thing that's all it takes. Just an FYI I am not joking this is real folks.

I think it'd take more than words to make the government act, or there'd be more Americans IN prison than OUT of it these days. However, I DO agree with you that our freedoms are being taken away from us at an accelerating pace. This hasn't just been since George W. Bush became president (he merely accelerated the process) though; this has been true ever since before any of us were ever born! Consider the fact that no one paid payroll income taxes until the early 20th century for instance. In another century, it will probably be a totalitarian society worldwide. If so, I'm glad human life spans are short enough that I have no chance of living to see it.

The government could always come and arrest you and shove you somewhere for the rest of your life where no one would find you...now its just legal. Nothing changed.

What I don't understand is...
If the Powers That Be are really so omnipotent, omnipresent and omniscient, oppressing the citizenry and censoring everything and disposing of all opposition, real and imaginary, how come we can get away with discussing this? Shouldn't the black helicopters be circling overhead and the secret police be knocking down the door at two in the morning. (Apparently they get paid extra for working the graveyard shift.)

I think it makes unimportant people (that's most of us) feel less insignificant believing they are so important that THE GOVERNMENT!!! actually cares what they think, do and say.

On a more serious note, one of the reasons that truly oppressive regimes get away with their crimes is that well-meaning people in free societies misdirect their paranoia. Instead of focusing on ridding the world of genuine tyrants, we expend our energy on imaginary threats. Of course, it's also safer than taking on the real enemy, because deep down we know the black helicopters and secret police aren't going to come for us.
Words, like Nature, half reveal and half conceal the soul within.

I can't argue with that one bit, all good points. I live my life the same no matter what. I stand by 3 men named Ben Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, and John Adams. In fact the John Adams mini series is my favorite thing to watch. I just thought id throw the FYI out there. When it really comes down to it after all the posts on this subject I see there is only one thing to do. Keep taking Saturday morning hikes in the Rockies, keep buying the ammo that it takes to shoot my guns, keep serving my country in amy way that I can, and last bit not least keep stocked up on plenty of rope and duct tape.

P.S. saw a sign the other day that read: Beer is now cheaper than gas so drink, don't drive.
