As requested.
"Things aren't looking good for you, Rob," the football coach said, looking over the papers. "You know that a student athlete needs to keep their grades up."
Rob said nothing, only looked down at his shoes.
"I talked with your chem teacher, so I know you have a test later this week." The coach stood up. "Do well on that and you can come back to practice."
Rob left the coach's office without a word. He exited the school and threw his hood on. A receiver for his school football team, Rob took the game very serious. Unfortunately, he didn't take school as seriously. He wasn't a bad kid or anything, he just couldn't quite grasp Chemistry. Something about the unit conversions always got to him. He adjusted the sleeves of his black hoodie and threw his hands into his jeans pockets, before walking back towards his house.
His house was only a couple blocks away from the school, so he didn't have to walk far. As he got closer, he noticed his neighbor Leslie standing in her yard. A year older than Rob, she wore a grey hoodie and blue jeans. She often stood in her yard staring at the road, watching the cars pass by. She turned to face him as he came up.
"Hey Rob," she said, smiling.
"Hey," he responded. "Could you help me with something?"
Leslie raised her eyebrows. "Depends."
"I need to do really well on this next Chemistry test or else I can't play football." He looked up at Leslie. "I was hoping you could help."
Leslie paused for a second. She was pretty good at chemistry stuff, got top in her class when she took it the previous year. She could definitely help him, but she wanted a little fun of her own.
"Alright, but you'll owe me something, which we can actually do today," she told him.
"Sounds good to me," Rob said, relieved.
"Great, come on in." Leslie turned around and they walked inside her house.
They made their way into the house and over to Leslie's room. Fairly plain, bed in one corner, desk against the wall. Her closet and mirror on the opposite wall, nothing too exceptional. Rob pulled up a chair and sat down at the desk. He pulled out his notes and spread them across the table. Leslie took a look and quickly remembered everything she was taught the previous year.
"Ok, this stuff is pretty straightforward," Leslie told him, flipping through the notes. "Like for this one, all you have to do is..."
She guided him through a couple questions, writing down some formulas that she used herself, trying to put things in a way that Rob understood. Fortunately he wasn't the first person she'd taught, and as she slowly went through the motions, he started to pick up on things.
"So... like that?" he asked, finishing a question.
She looked down at his and then her own answer. "Perfect. Looking good." she stood up again.
"Ok, your chem teacher gave you a practice test, right?" Rob nodded. "How about you try that?"
"You sure?" Rob asked. "I mean I can try."
Leslie thought for a second. "You have the knowledge, you just need the inspiration. Hold on a moment."
She quickly left the room, closing the door behind her. Rob sighed, and went back to his notes.
To be continued(I mean there's really only going to be 2 parts but if i mash them together it'll be a bit long)
