QUESTION

Be *very* carefull with clothesline, please.

Most of the stuff is far too thin, and will cut in your skin.

A rope for tie ups should meet some basic criteria:

-it should have a certain thickness, or you risk cuts and concussions if one winding suddenly becomes a little tighter than the others. I recommend at least 6mm diameter, better 8 or more.

-It should not create burns when moving against your skin
This disqualifies for example sisal ropes. Having these on your skin is akin to rubbing it with sand paper.

-Knots should be able to be untied
Some ropes don't allow for knots to be untied, ever. Especially small diameter ropes. If you are doing selfbondage this is plain bad, and even if not, it's frustrating to cut your ropes to end every tie-up.

on the other hand
-Knots should not get loose too easily
after all, if the vitctim can get out easily, it's not a real tie up, isn't it? ;-)

cheers

If you are so interested in being tied up, I would recommend some light reading. Okay, it might actually get slightly heavy if you try to read all of it.

If you know what wikipedia is like, then you have some idea of what that site can offer you. Don't skimp out on the safety bits though, because as easy as safety can be to ignore, without you can can get yourself into some serious trouble. Some people have died because of self bondage, especially people who get sexual gratification from breath control. Something like that shouldn't be tried out alone. Others have probably been heavily embarrassed caught in such a position.

You can do all the things you like, just as long as you have a sane mind about how safe it is. Don't go out of your way to make it safe, just don't be stupid about it. Worst case scenario, get someone to check on you way past after you expect to be finished. It may be embarrassing, but that can be one of the fail-safes, despite the consequences.

What I have learnt though, is that you can sometimes use consequence as a way to stop you from taking the easy way out. If for example you wanted a spare key for handcuffs stored somewhere, make it so that it spills a bucket of something over you instead of waiting for your escape method to really hurry up. I bet most people would wait for the key to be released to them (could also be a knife) rather than get a whole lot of mess all over them.
