The verb "to trump" in proper colloquial English means "to fart". Not strong enough, I think.

I'd be far more scared if Cruz won the election. I am legitimately scared of him. Trump's entire campaign is based on lying and telling people what they want to hear so that they will vote for him. Much more so than usual. If elected, he will be totally different than he is in the campaign. He would be a shitty president, don't get me wrong, and he would do a lot of damage to the country, but he is far less terrifying than Cruz.

The problem with liars is that people elect them. Look at that vacillating, trivial little man who we've got as a "Prime" Minister.

This would win if the Jeopardy answer was "An unlikely event that has catastrophic consequences".

Cruz is arguably worse, yes. Trump is a carny and his followers are rubes, but Cruz is a true believer.

It also means "superior," or "more superior," as in "Jimmy played the seven of clubs, which trumped Jerry's ace of hearts."

Cruz is more than arguably worse. He is an End-Times theocrat. I am absolutely terrified of him in power.

I'm pretty much terrified of ANY of the current Republican contenders in power. I'm not fond of Hilliary either but I'd prefer her to anyone in the GOP. I still prefer Bernie Sanders but i don't know how well he'd be able to put his ideas in to action. probably not very well, sad to say.
