Punnishment or abuse?

Is tying up as a punishment acceptable or abuse?

Hm I guess it really just depends. If they like to be tied up then it's not abuse, but if they don't then obviously it is abuse.

If someone likes being tied up, then tying them up as a punishment is actually rewarding bad behaviour? We would be punished by NOT being tied up?

A punishment is supposed to be something unpleasant/we don't like, hopefully deterring us from what made the punishment necessary? So tying up as a punishment would only be a punishment on someone who doesn't like being tied up? Would tying up as a punishment run the risk of creating more Tyler McMillans?

Our parents have no objections to Lisa and I tying each other up as long as no one is tied up against their will, and no one is injured or killed.

I was just curious to know what other members of this board though.

If they like to be tied up it might be not abuse, but it´s probably also not punishment.
And I would say tying someone up against his will is in generell abuse, not only with kids. So, yeah, bad form of punishment.

If someone likes to be tied, you can still make it a punishment.. make it tight, torture them.. Come on guys, I thought we all had a spark of creativity.

I assumed this was about punishment by parents or teachers. In that case, tying a kid up in an uncomfortable position or torturing it is just not an acceptable punishment. In my mind, it´s as awful as hitting the kid.

If it´s just your friends or brother who wants to punish you for being a jerk that might be ok, as long as everyone knows how far they can go.

Tying someone up against their will as a punishment DEFINITELY constitutes abuse. I don't see how there could be any doubt about that?

Tying up someone against their will is illegal in most places.

As the foreposters said...with a nonconsenting person its illegal.

With a consenting person...well, tie them tight, let them suffer and then abuse them :D

It depends on what precisely you mean by consent.
We have James tied up, and he is trying as hard as he can to escape, but that's not escaping because he is in danger, its escaping to take revenge, does that still count as being tied against consent , it all depends on your point of view.

I would imagine it's all, but I hesitated to say it for some reason, not being 100% sure. You never know, there's always some place with a goofy law about just about everything.

I completely understand, don't worry. But if there's such a place on earth, I've got to find it :D

Keep in mind that consent is something that changes with the moment and situation at hand.

Just because someone likes to get tied up, it doesn't mean they always, under any circumstance, want to be.

If you cross that line, you can, and most-likely will be, in felony territory.

Only punishment if they hate being tied up
But not going to do it to my future kids because it may attract unwanted attention and I could be arrested and go to jail.
You will have to subdue me to restrain me. I been a bad boy so make sure you torture me too with anything but pain.
