Yes, afaik Creative Commons means the writer
must be given credit, but otherwise it's in the public domain. At least, that's my understanding of the situation for most things posted on the web. I could be mistaken of course.
As for someone stealing
my stories, i'd probably be more flattered that anyone would consider them worth stealing in the first place than be annoyed by it, but then I never thought like a normal person anyway.

I can certainly see why it'd annoy most other people. It just seems to me that since no one else here but me knows who the hell Jason Toddman IS, what difference does it make? Now, if other people took credit for something the real me (who shall go nameless) did,
then I'd be madder than hell. But if Joe Blow takes one of Jason Toddman's stories and claims it as his own, it's kind of hard for me to see what difference it makes to me... it'd still MY story other people are (hopefully) liking and who the heck knows the difference between Joe Blow and Jason Toddman but Joe Blow and Jason Toddman? But, like i said, I don't think the same way as most other folks, I guess.
I wouldn't be caught dead ripping off another person's stories in any case, even if we hadn't had such a notorious (and absurdly obvious) example of it right here on this site two to three years ago. I have too much pride (and perhaps an over-inflated sense of my own writing skills) for that!

Dare to be different... and make a difference.
To boldly go where no one in their right mind has gone before...
