Converting from BMP to JPG

Postby Jay Feely » Wed Mar 02, 2011 2:10 pm

I would love to share photos here by attaching it directly, but I ran into a problem.

1. My pictures are all in the form of bmp, and not in the required jpg form
2. The ones I have in jpg are either too big or too small

So, does anyone know how to convert from a bmp file to a jpg file?
Or, from a jpg file to a smaller size or larger size image?

There is a program called GIMP that can do this. I use it al the time to convert my .doc drawings to .png; it can convert .bmp to .jpg as well.
You can download it for free. Just type GIMP in your search engine; that should get you started.

Or...if you don't want to use a mighty dinosaur like gimp...simply use irfanview. A small but very good graphic viewer, which can convert pictures and change sizes, too.

Not familiar with that one. I'll have to check it out myself. But I like the 'mighty dinosaur' as you call it, as it is good for a lot of things and not just converting pictures from one format to another... especially if you need to do some alterations as well. It's how I created Jay's current avatar for him, for one thing.
