Dreambook.com closing down :(

Did you consider copying the stories to a CD, DVD, or thumb drive to preserve them? Just highlight the text, right click for a drop down menu, select "Copy," then open your word processing program, select "New," and a blank page will open. The cursor should already be in the upper left, and all you have to do, is right click again, and get the drop down menu. Click on "Paste," and the story should appear. After that, go to "File," select "Save As," and you'll get a list like "Hard Drive C," "Removable Drive E," etc. Select one, and click "Save." Takes longer to tell you how to do it, than to actually do it. :-)

Ahhh, how about putting them on line here (with the OK of the authors [if you can cantact them] and this board's administration?)

Dreambook no more

Postby KP Presents » Sun Feb 16, 2014 4:00 pm

We're sad today to say farewell to an old and dear friend. DreamBook was one of the first projects created by the founders of DreamHost and was part of the original New Dream Network of sites. At one time hosting over a half million guestbooks, it was the second largest guestbook server in the world at its peak and helped to introduce thousands of people to our services. Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end, and the function guestbooks provided has been replaced by shiny new toys like Facebook and WordPress. As a result we've decided to retire DreamBook once and for all. We do understand that many users have become attached to their DreamBooks so, as a courtesy, we've made archives of your DreamBooks available from the DreamBook management page. Those downloads will be available until June 1st, 2014.

Thanks to everyone who participated in making DreamBook such a success, both through creating and managing the books and posting their hopes, dreams and ideas to them!

So Dreambook is no more - and another of the things I first discovered when I hooked up to the web and found story sites disappeared. I was a huge fan of the original Bound and Gagged by Burglars book (the eharris99 one0, as well as the Mothers bound and gagged ones. Yeah, a lot of the stories were made up, and yeah they could be a haven for spam, trolls and back biters, but when they were run well, they were fun.

So I mourn their passing - and it just gives me more impetus to keep going.
