Chat?

Postby littleliz » Fri Jan 02, 2009 9:42 pm

Hey all! I'm new and just wanted to know if anyone wanted to chat with me (about TUGs or anything really). If you'd like to add me to yahoo, i'd be more than glad to chat with you!

So many people like to chat and thats it. Can't even get a self picture or webcam 1/2 the time, which leads me to believe that many people just looking for chats aren't real unfortunately.

Maybe someone can prove me wrong? :)

I would take offense to that, but then I realized that very few people actually care what you think...so apparantly I'm not real cuz I don't have a camera to put a picture of myself on here just to prove to YOU that I'm real? Now that's just dumb.

P.S. Don't even bother posting a response, cuz I don't care what you think and am going to ignore it anyway...

Woah relax there.

I didn't mean that directed at you... I don't recall ever chatting with you so I don't know anything about you.

I've chatted with like 3 people from here who apparently had no way of taking a picture. This day and age, that's really hard to believe.

Peace

I'm 19/m from the midwest US, I'd like to rp and chat sometime, so I added you on yahoo.

To tieboya: TBH a picture could be just as deceptive. If you dont wanna show a little faith in someone's claim to be a certain age or gender, then don't, it's your personal decision, and you don't have to publicize your opinion.

Webcams generally don't lie. Anyone can buy a webcam for $20...

I was simply making a statement and I was trying to get in touch with people who ARE real.

Enjoy your RPs.....

Some support on this one finally!

I don't know -anyone-, who is real, who doesn't have a picture online. Friends, people I've met, etc. Most people have a Myspace, Facebook, Photobucket, etc. The people who won't share a picture of themselves, most of the time, are fake. The rest are scared. But what is fear other than something to work past and get over?

There really is very little a nefarious person can do with just a picture, unless they had a name and/or location. But if a person is so paranoid to not give a picture of themselves, why the hell would they put their location or name online? But even still, there really aren't that many people out there with the desire and will to cause harm. They -ARE- out there, but there are way more good people than bad. Anyway.

I certainly do -not- expect to see tug pics from people. But knowing the other person is real is a big help, especially since some of the people I've chatted with from here seem totally fake unfortunately.

Glad at least one person cared about what I was saying!

Peace

As you said, you're new here, so I can understand if you don't understand yet. I think the real problem is that in this day and age... many people you talk to online truly do have a way of taking pictures, and surely everyone you find online has a picture of themselves on their computer, whether it be about TUGs or not. What it comes down to is whether or not a person you chat with feels safe enough to share a picture of themselves with a total stranger. Now, Liz, I don't want your picture, if you'd like to chat... you can find my addy's on my profile.

I certainly cared, and understood. However those are just the realities of the online world. I for one would rather communicate on face to face physical level, however merely communicating online with someone casually shouldn't present a problem, it's when we decide to share personal information and photos that a difficulty is arisen.

Thats for sure your perogative. But I've never had a problem sharing my photo or personal information, ever. I'm just smart about it.

Some thoughts on this...
Me, I don't believe anyone who claims he can't take a picture of himself, either.

However, I can perfectly accept that people don't want to share pictures on the net (I don't want it, either). There are many things which can happen once you send some pics.
And you have to remember...once you put something in the web, it's there forever and can never be taken back.

Regarding chatting, it comes down to what you want. If you want contacts in reality, a pic can help a lot. If not, a pic may be helpful, but can be deceiving.

Oh, and one thing: it has nothing to do with being real. Every person you have contact with is real- it's just a question if he is honest or not.
