Drawscore, as a serious trekkie I don't consider anything "JJ" to have anything to do with Star Trek, beyond the name.
JJ took the name "Star Trek" to get a lot of attention and created three shallow, fast-paced action movies to make a lot of money.
I see absolutely NO resemblance to the Star Trek series and movies I've known and grown up with.
As far as I'm concerned, Star Trek began with TOS in 1966 and ended in 2005 with Star Trek: Enterprise.
Of course, the kids today don't wanna see people in their 40s, 50s and 60s.
Everything has to be young and new. Which is why in the JJ's movies, you have a bunch of hot-looking 20 year old "superheroes" in command of the Federation flagship.
Looks like they were able to skip all the ranks and all the lower assignments.
And to think that poor Picard was already in his mid 50s by the time he earned command of the Enterprise-D.
Roddenberry would be spinning in his grave if he knew what was happening right now.
