Giving my Sister what she deserves

I stared out at the end of our beach house, breathing in the salty sea air. Our private beach area shone with the clear blue sky, and the morning waves were clear and calm.

BANG!

“Ow!” I rubbed my head as I looked down to see the empty plastic water bottle that had been thrown at me. “What the heck?”

I turned to see my little sister, Lily, staring at me with crossed arms over her skinny teenage figure. She was dressed in her green polka-dot bathing suit and had a towel over her shoulder. Sunglasses pulled up her long black hair like a headband.

“What’s the big idea?” I asked, annoyed.

“Mom told you to go clean the shed,” she said impatiently.

“Why can’t you go do it?” I said, rubbing my head.

“Because,” Lily said smugly, “I already washed the dishes. I’m going to go get my tan.”

“Whatever,” I muttered as she walked out.

“By the way,” she called from the door, “I knocked down some stuff getting a beach chair, but since you’re cleaning things up, I thought you could do it. Sorry.”

“You’re such a pest!”

“Bye, Mark.”

I growled as I labored over to the shed. I opened the door and cursed as I saw the mess inside. Lily hadn’t just knocked some stuff down. She practically knocked down everything inside. All the chairs, tools, even a table was flipped over. It would take an hour to clean this all up.

I kicked at some duct tape that was lying on the ground. Lily had probably deliberately messed some this stuff up. She was always doing stuff like that. True, I HAD locked her in the basement for April fool’s, but that wasn’t the point.

I glanced at the roll of duct tape I had just kicked. Suddenly, an idea for revenge popped up into my head. No one was around except us. Sure, some neighbors might see, but at this point, I didn’t really care.

I picked up the roll of duct tape and took a shovel from the floor. Cleaning the shed would have to wait.

I sneaked out of the shed and onto the beach. Lily was there, lounging on her beach chair. The sunglasses were over her eyes, and I could tell from her relaxed position and breathing that she was asleep.

As quietly as I could I crept up next to her. I was thankful for the sand as it muffled my footsteps. I could feel my heart beating. Should I really do this? Too late now.

Fast as a snake I grabbed her arm and pulled her close to me so her back hit my chest. She was awake instantly and let out a shriek. Her sunglasses came off as she struggled against my grip. I unrolled the duct tape and started wrapping her wrists together behind her back tightly.

“Mark!” Lily cried, wrenching at my grasp. “What are you doing?”

“What is it look like?” I asked, securely finishing my eighth wrap around her wrist and starting on her elbows.

She struggled and writhed, trying to kick me, but I was stronger, and forced her onto her knees as I finished wrapping up her elbows. I pulled her down onto her stomach and sat on her butt to pin her down.

“Ow!” she complained. “You’re so fat, Mark. Get off me!” Complete lie. I was the best athlete at my school.

“You shouldn’t mouth off like that,” I warned, “or I’m going to make this even tighter!” I put her ankles together and started wrapping them up too. Once I was done with that, I started wrapping up her knees, until she could only wiggle around in the tape.

“Okay, okay, fine, you got me,” Lily admitted. “Now can you let me go?” She sounded more amused than scared. Hmph.

“Not done yet, sis!” I spun her around so her back was to me and unwrapped more of the duct tape. I started wrapping her arms to her chest, above and below her green bikini so she couldn’t move her arms at all. She wiggled and struggled, but soon realized that it was hopeless. She was trapped and immobilized.

I pushed her down and she started thrashing at her bonds, trying to get the tape to break or something. I doubted it. Mythbusters stated that a band of duct tape could hold seventy pounds. If several wraps couldn’t hold a teenage girl, then I would have to have a serious talk with those tape-manufacturers.

“Mark, this is really tight,” she complained. “Are you going to let me go?”

“Maybe you shouldn’t have messed up the shed,” I replied. I got out the shovel and started scooping up some of the sand and putting it into a pile. I scooped until I made a coffin-like shape half a foot deep.

“What are you doing?” Lily asked, curiosity in her voice. I didn’t answer her and continued digging until it met my satisfaction.
“Now time to shut you up,” I declared. I peeled off a long strip of duct tape and lowered it at Lily’s mouth.

“C’mon, Mark,” she complained. “You don’t need to do that, I-“ her words were lost as I smoothed the strip of duct tape over her lips. I followed that with three more strips, the first two making an X over her mouth, the last one smoothing across her cheeks to keep the rest in place.

“Mmph.” Lily glared at me as I picked her up and laid her into my little ditch. I took out the shovel and started dumping sand back onto her, filling up the ditch and making a small human-sized hill over my little sister until only her head was visible.

She struggled a little bit against the sand and the tape, but ultimately gave up and relaxed. “Mmph.”

“That’s what you get, sis,” I teased her, poking her tape-covered cheek.

“Mmph.”
