Handcuff Quality Low?

Postby solarbeast34 » Fri Sep 22, 2017 5:05 am

I just recently bought another pair of handcuffs of a medium price. They are not the fancier version, but they also are not the cheap version. I thought from past years that I would be getting quality for a decent price, but I seem to be wrong every time I think this as of late. These ones seem to be the same ones the police would get, so I do not know why the quality seems to be on the decline. This is slowly bringing me into the want of getting leather lockable cuffs, but I really like the feel of metal. Also, I do not want to shell out much more money for something that may not be high quality at the moment, maybe when I get a job and a decent budget, maybe. Has anyone else run into a similar issue, and what have you done to fix it, if you have?

There are several kinds of handcuffs, starting with the toy plastic kind. Then you have the "star wheel" cuffs, which have a star wheel, instead of a ratchet. Magicians cuffs look like the real thing, but can be opened with a short (4") length of sprinng steel. Then you have the real things, which can be linked or hinged.

Check eBay. If you have a question, provide the URL to the item, and ask someone to take a look, and give an opinion.

I always get the real things each time, but I did not know about the star wheel thing so maybe that is what is happening. I will check that out.

Star wheel cuffs are not much more than toys.

If you do search for handcuffs on eBay, be specific. If you just search for "Handcuffs," it will give you about 45,000 listings.

They are all real. I guess it is just the way they ended up in the mail, and then how I have been storing them. I, unfortunately, cannot store them the way I actually want to store them yet because I still need to keep them hidden as I am living with my parents. Once I get my own place I will be able to store them in drawers in my closet, the way I want to store them.

How are you storing them and how would that affect the operation of them?
