Food discourse official [Extra Spicy]

Postby MisterBones » Thu Feb 02, 2017 5:41 pm

This forum is not being used properly. I propose we start new discourse that isn't painful to read.
Food discourse is the best discourse
To begin:
1. If you don't eat pineapple on pizza you're a coward
2. Cheese is the most important part of good pizza, followed by toppings, then crust. Sauce is the least important part of pizza.
3. Ketchup is disgusting, as is mayonnaise.
I have ocs or whatever

1. Agreed
2. Disagree. I would rank it toppings, cheese, sauce .................................................. crust. Unless it's special crust (like the garlicky kind), I don't care about it. It's just bread.
3. You are the worst person alive. ;)

Taste is relative. There are those that would put gravy on cake.

1. Hawaiian pizza it's the best! As I side noe I enjoy telling that to italians
2. For me is cheese, toppings, sauce... and crust in the end, seriously I don't care for crust at all, when I was a kid I didn't even eat it!
3. Mayonnaise IS disgusting, as for ketchup...well I'm probably the only person who enjoys drinking it :D

1. Pineapple and Pizza work perfectly together.
2. Crust is most important. If done wrong, it can easily overpower everything else.
3. By themselves, yes.

Just discovered this thread. Who else ever put hot sauce on pb&j?

Also, everyone knows crust is the most important part of pizza. You ever have a slice with bad crust?

MEEEAT FEAAAST!
I also think that the sauce is least important, however I prefer sweet sauce.
Ketchup is mad, mayonnaise is horrible.
Woah, don't mind if I do.

There's this one mayonnaise, I think it's called Sir Kensington, that's actually really good. And normally I hate the stuff.

And don't knock it till you try it. Those sandwiches are sweet, savory, and spicy. That's like the Holy trinity.

Mayonnaise is OK as long as there's enough horseradish and garlic in it.

I agree with you fully, except I like ketchup with fries, but only then.

Fries should be eaten with mayonnaise.

1) Finally, somebody who shares my pain. All through the years i have had to combat pineapple pizza haters one by one but to no avail. FINALLY. But seriously, i only ever eat hawaiian pizza.
2) In important to unimportant order, tomato sauce (you cant have a bread flop half sandwich are you crazy) toppings (people who have tuna should be sent to hell) thickness (always pan, thin crust people, what are you, cheapskates?), then cheese, i could live without cheese.
3) "KETCHUP IS DISGUSTING" HOW DARE YOU INSULT THE HOLY RED LIQUID SUGAR TRINITY OF HOLINESS. THIS IS WHY TRUMP WAS ELECTED COS OF IDIOTS LIKE YOU. THIS IS WHY PEOPLE ARE MURDERED EVERYDAY. THIS HATRED FOR THAT UNHEALTHY GOODNESS IS KILLING THE HUMAN RACE.

also i agree about mayonnaise

Fries should come nowhere near anyone's mouth!

CHIPS (proper, thick-cut pieces of REAL potatoes) should be eaten covered in salt, dripping with malt vinegar and dipped in ketchup (NOT the cheap stuff!).

Fries are delicious for fast food only.

Normally when I have thick chips I put salt on them and have ketchup, but if I have fish and chips I'll have all three.

I allow only one variation to what I said above. If I am sitting in Belgium with a large bowl of mussels in front of me, THEN I will allow "fries" with mayonnaise. Must eat the native delicacies.

I think people give bacon too much credit. Yeah it's delicious and is helpful for certain meals, but people get way too excited for it.

Bacon SHOULD be fatty! The fat helps it to crisp up. What it should not have is unnecessary added water (what the manufacturers call "cookout"). All that does is boost the weight and therefore the cost and leaves that sludgy mess on your pan.

Completely disagree with the last two parts of your pizza assessment here. Crust--read: 'dough'--is important because it sets up what type of pizza you're going to have. Look at the big chain places like Papa John's, Domino's, Pizza Hut--read: circles of hot garbage that hardly deserve to be called pizza. They're dough/crust may as well be Pillsbury crescent rolls they're so damn chewy. Sauce has a huge effect on the taste of a pizza. If it's too garlicky, too basily, too diluted, etc, you may as well be eating grilled cheese. Toppings are extra and greatly alter the taste of a slice or a pie in general. Then again, I'm not much of a toppings person; if the place I"m ordering from can't do a solid plain slice or a solid Sicilian slice, not worth it. Hooray, though, for growing up and living in the Northeast where actual good pizza is readily available at a moment's notice. In the town where I grew up, there were no fewer than five good options for pizza and in the town I currently leave, at least three are winners, with one voted the best in the region multiple times over.

I take few things in life very seriously...pizza is one of them.

What's with all the hatred towards the States' lingo for shoe-string potatoes? I mean, I'm not a big fan of them, but aren't what you described as chips steak-cut potatoes only with a different name? Can't we just all agree that salt & vinegar as well as bbq flavored crisps are the best.

Fries, in this country at least, can be reconstituted mudge; chips have to be cut from potatoes. Fat chips cook differently (should be cooked twice - some say three times but I think that's taking the piss) and taste of something. I believe that real aficionados would insist that this jewel of British cuisine should be cooked in dripping.

Crisps, or "game chips" to give then their proper name, should only ever be ready salted. (Although, when cooked properly at home - twice cooked, of course - the addition of a lot of garlic or even chopped red chilli -I prefer apache - is perfectly acceptable) All other flavours are merely chemical pollutants.

A pickled egg dropped into the packet of ready salted crisps is correct etiquette at the bar.
