Reminds me of that fine old traditional Scout song:

There was an old farmer who sat on a rick,
A-teaching his children to play with their
Kites and their marbles as in days of yore
When along came a lady who looked like
A decent young lady and walked like duck
Who said she'd invented a new way to
Educate children to sew and to knit
While the boys in the barn-yard were a-shovelling
The contents of the barn-yard the mire and the muck . . .

To the ancient tune, "Villikins and Dinah" (Better known to such common persons as myself as "The Thrashing Machine")

Neither of which this perhaps woefully ignorant American has ever heard of. Clever piece of prose though.

Lulu is a Trekkie; she loves the whole Star Trek crew,
She could give even Captain Kirk lessons on how to...

Lulu loves a certain Vulcan whose name is Mister Spock,
Though cold on the outside; there's nothing cold about his...

And let's not forget that engineer we know as Mister Scott,
Lulu is why we now say "Beam me up Scotty" a lot.
Dare to be different... and make a difference.
To boldly go where no one in their right mind has gone before...

Ah, there's nothing like the folk process, is there?

If so, I never heard of that one either. You sure we use the same name?

It goes something like:

Have you heard tell of sweet Betsy from Pike
She crossed the wide prairie with her lover, Ike
With two yoke of Oxen, a big yellow dog,
A tall Shanghai rooster and one spotted hog

One evening quite early they camped on the Platte
'Twas nearby the road on a green, shady flat
Betsy, sore-footed, lay down to repose
In wonder Ike gazed on his Pike County rose

There's more if you want to google it.

OK, well thanks for doing that, Mr. XTC! And, by no means am I a "Know-all". Not by any stretch of the imagination. Bye!
