If he is a true American, then why has he for a long time refused to show other senators his birth certificate?

Oh I have many political sources online and in nonfiction published books found in libraries. Why would I want to make up such a huge lie instead of wanting to seek only the truth?

Given the chance I would strengthen our relationship again with Israel, lower taxes and slash military spending to help end the recession.

Well its actually a question for you

Why strengten the ties with Isreall when they have shown to have zero respect for America's opinion in the conflict which they have shown this week(i'm talking about the building on the west bank) To me it seems like they are trying to avoid peace talks

Re: Discussion palace

Chris there are so many things I could tell you but I do not want to leave you feeling overwhelmed. In Israel there are even more political parties in government then in the United States. The Knesset is run by parties that never have one hundred percent of the votes and weapons are forbidden inside the building by security for reasons of personal safety. If Nuclearo wants to interject on the grounds he knows more due to living there, I welcome his comments. For now I can only tell you that not everyone there agrees it is the right thing to do.

Seems you just change topic when you lose the argument.

You like Obama a lot, Shane does not. I thought the point of a discussion was to discuss, not to say 'my view is right and I won't let you counter'.

Well that's a given since America only has two party's that are worth mentioning in serious election

Wheter its right or wrong isn't my isue with the decission (the whole conflict is to grey to talk about that). Its the pure stupidity of it that bothers me since almost the whole world is against it and its a big ''fuck you'' toward their biggest ally which seem very ungratefull.

Chris I understand why you feel this way. I am not always happy with their policies sometimes either. However I refuse to slam them for doing what they think is right against the wishes of the majority of the world.

Lonewolf: If this forum is for debates and discussions, why aren't you doing more of them?

Oh I dunno possibly cause I was asleep and studying and at school

But seriously, is building a stronger relationship with those guys in Israel really necessary???

Re: Discussion palace

Good question. :big: When Israel first became a country again under the administration of the United Nations, the United States was there to help defend them against all the Arab nations that wanted it destroyed permanently. We will always be their allies no matter what.

Doesn't such a logic mean they should strengthen their ties(or suck up) to America. America doesn't really need Isreal and can go on without it but withou America Israel will have a really hard time.

Re: Discussion palace

Postby Chase Ricks » Thu Sep 29, 2011 7:16 am

True enough Chris but that does exclude the fact that lots of extremist Israelis hate having to rely on America for weapons defense and guidance systems.

I do not think so for they have endured far worse then we ever will. They have the will to endure more in the future too.

I'd like to thrown in my two bits on this one, if ya'll don't mind.

One of the interesting and controversial things about the state of Israel is that, in general, they don't consult with other nations when it comes to military matters. I'd say that the Israeli Government, in general, doesn't give a damn about international opinion. They do what they feel they need to in order to make sure their nation survives. Which I respect. (Sorry Nuclearo: If you read this I hope you didn't take offense, I meant none.)

Now as far as the U.S is concerned, Chris you're right that in actuality they really don't have much reason to still support the nation of Israel. Both in political terms and in the fact that Israel seems to be doing a pretty good job standing on its own two feet. However, I think the reason the U.S is still actively supporting them is simply a matter of standing by old commitments. The United States was one of the loudest supporters of Zionism throughout the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. It was a matter raised by President Woodrow Wilson at the Versailles conference of 1919. They pledged to support the nation of Israel when it was created in 1948 and apparently feels the need to stick by it to this day.

Also, I think its worth bearing in mind that the United States is still one of the largest Christian nations on earth. Or more specifically, one of the largest protestant nations on earth. On the whole the protestant church has a vested interest in the success of the Jewish state and has supported it. The southern evangelicals and the Mormons especially. It's only been in recent years that public opinion has turned against Israel, though of course there has always been some opposition. But considering the U.S has (As far as I'm aware) an unbroken tradition of Christian presidents and mostly Christian administrations, I can't see the U.S dropping their support for Israel any time soon.
There's a permanent tension in music isn't there? On one hand you have three chords, you know, four four and three chords. Then there's the people like me, who say "Well, why don't we add a fourth chord and put it in five four?" - Bill Bruford
