Story Ideas: Your opinion!

Postby dreadnaught3200 » Thu Apr 28, 2011 12:20 am

Hey Guys

I apologize that my presence on this board has been very sporadic over the last few months. This whole post-secondary education thing is murder on my creative writing habits. Oh well! Now that I'm off for the summer, I have a few months to work, make some money, relax... And most importantly, write! However, over the last few months I have tried to write no less than five abortive stories. I'll be a few thousand words in and I'll just get bored of it and can't keep going. If I can't keep myself interested in it, I'm fairly certain I won't be able to hold a reader's interest.

So here's what I'd like to know:

In the context of a fictional bondage story, there seem to be two main types. 1, a TUG scenario similar to the ones we play in real life. But always in fun. Or 2, a more serious and more fictional tale of a kidnapping, home invasion or something of that sort. Which do you prefer?

Do you like M/M F/M M/F or something else entirely?

Do you like stories that are more detailed and character driven, or should I just not bother?

Do you have any ideas for a story that you'd like to see written?

Any input you could give me would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

With fictional stories, I always think it's more fun to have a less realistic storyline - like a kidnapping or home invasion etc. Since all of the true TUGs on here tend to be of people in everyday TUGs, it's always nice to let the imagination run wild with some complete and total fiction-y type stuff ^^

I love stories that are detailed too. I'm not saying I like to read 5 pages of ramble before the story actually starts, but in order to enjoy a story properly, I really need background information about the characters - their different personalities, what they look like, their circumstances that have lead up to beign in the TUG situation. I think it's particular important in farfetched fictional stories, but I also appreciate in standard real life TUG experiences too.

Glad to hear that you're back on the board! Though I'm massively jealous that you're already finished for summer! Can't wait to see what you come up with :)

Good luck

Sam

I agree with this. Fantasy stories, either with the celeb getting tied or unleashing their dominant side on another celeb.

I'd love a bit of fantassy. Either a kidnap like I'm writing at present or some kind of Jewelry robbery, jail break, break in etc etc. Otherwise i do like the idea of a celebrity kidnap. Imagine the end of Girls Aloud "I think were alone now" video and how the next scene might go. Alternatively have the protagonist tied up with or by the famous celebrity. FOr gender mix I like all except M/m. Don't know why femles on top or bottom or both is good. I'd quite like to read about a turn around too, where the kidnap victim escapes and ties up their kidnapper sort of thing.

Fit to be tied, wants to struggle.

I was gutted that Girls Aloud scene didn't end the video. Capturing them all like that, would have led to endless possibilities.

Yay! Input!

So, the impression that I'm getting here is that imagination is the way to go. If that be the case, try this one on for size:

I played with an idea a few months ago that I ending up shelving; It came to me when I was replaying Zelda: Majora's Mask. Link (Who in my case was named Blowhard) in Zora form has to infiltrate a fortress populated by pirates who have stolen some eggs. The cool thing about this fortress? The pirates are all women. Every last one. This got me thinking: In this game if you get caught they just throw you out of the fortress. It would be so much better if they tied you up instead. The rest as they say, is history.

Now I know somebody on this board, can't remember who exactly, already wrote something involving female pirates. Though I think they were somewhat modernish pirates, I couldn't really tell. So to whoever that was, I came up with this idea before you posted that story and there won't be any other similarities.

What I started was set in 1674, during the famous Buccaneering period in pirate history. A young, impatient and ambitious Lieutenant is aboard a British Frigate, hunting a rogue Spanish ship near St. Kitts. He is sent ashore on a small island and finds a group of pirates on the other shore. Being his impatient self, he runs straight in and finds himself in an ambush. He is knocked out and taken prisoner by the pirates. When he comes to, he notices the pirates are all women. (Which is explained to near plausibility I think, in a Dan Brownish sort of way) The story takes off from there, and includes all those cheesy Buccaneering elements that we love in pirate stories. Cannons, Lagoons, Treasure, Peg Legs all that good stuff. In the middle of everything, there is the reader being held prisoner by the pirates as I'm sure we have all fantasized about at one point or another.

So... Any thoughts?

I prefer fictional stories to be a little more fanciful and adventurous. As Samantha said, the true stories are more about role plays. That's not to say there haven't been fictional stories about role play-type games I've enjoyed, and I've thought about writing one or two myself (though I really need to finish the one I've got going now, which I said I'd finish about 3 weeks ago...), but I like the ones with more adventure to them better most of the time.

It's funny you mention the pirates from Majora's Mask (the Gerudo). They're in Ocarina of Time as well, as most of the characters from that game were. In that game, when you infiltrated their desert fortress, if you were spotted by them or defeated by a guard you'd be captured and thrown into a pit, and you had to free a few guys who'd already been caught by them. Unfortunately you never saw anybody get tied up, but there are some fanfic-type stories about them out there that involve that kind of thing, if you want to search for them. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought about being caught and tied up and locked up by them as well.

I liked your pirate story idea as well. It sounded pretty good. I'm kind of interested in how you worked in the reader being caught by the pirates. That sounds like a pretty interesting twist, as much from a storytelling perspective as a TUG one.

I generally like any story except M/M ones. I prefer M/F or F/M stories. I guess I like it when the characters involved are different sexes. I've never been able to decide which one I like better. Sometimes I do like F/F stories though. Once in a blue moon I'll read an M/M story and like it I like but it's pretty rare. Mixed-gender stories work for me as well (i.e. F/MF or something like that).

I typically like some detail, but there does come a point when stories get bogged down in details. On occasion it's better to leave a little to the imagination of the reader. I think it depends somewhat on the story, fast-paced stories that are short don't need as much detail. I'd say err on the side of too many details if you have to go either way. It's possible to skim over to the parts you like if you really want to most of the time, unless the writer doesn't use paragraphs properly, but that's another topic.

I've got a few ideas for stories, some of which I'd like to write myself, but I either don't have time or hit writer's block (which is what's happened with the unfinished story I have up now). I've actually thought about doing a turn-the-tables story like Sue mentioned above. I like just about any halfway decently written damsel in distress story or any story where a character is caught and has to escape some terrible death trap (assuming they escape, of course). And I don't really know why, but I like stories where a woman charms a guy into being tied up somehow, for any number of insidious reasons, maybe acting seductive and luring him into a trap to be caught by the bad guys or capturing him herself for some reason.

Yes! More feedback!

I'm very familiar with Ocarina of Time, as a matter of fact I was playing it just the other day (I have Zelda: Collectors Edition for Gamecube, which I can still play on my Wii... Thank god!). But it was Majora that really gave me the idea. Still I'm glad to hear I wasn't the only one who thought it would be cool to be tied up and help prisoner by those lovely animated pirates.

To be honest all I meant by this was that I plan on telling the bulk of the story in first person narrative. I find that makes it much easier for the reader to slip into that and become the character. Though to keep things interesting I'm planning on taking a leaf out of Mary Shelly's book (She wrote Frankenstein) and telling the story within a frame narrative of the protagonist telling the story to an admiral in London. As well as slipping into other characters through Journal entries and things like that. Sorry, I try to be experimental in my writing... But not THAT experimental hehe

Kyle wrote:(I've) hit writer's block (which is what's happened with the unfinished story I have up now)

Amen to that. My lack of productivity over the last few months has been due more to writer's block than time constraints. Still I think you've got a lot of really cool story ideas there, that would be well worth writing. I find it helps to get outside opinions on these things. So feel free to PM me if you want to talk about it. I may do the same! hehe

You've got summer off already!? no fair, we're still on til July >.<

I'm torn here because I love both types of story...i've voted suspense over friends though. with someone you know less or don't know at all it can be very thrilling and there's less of a limit to what can be done. you'd be a lot more embarrassed being tied up by a friend.
so i prefer a suspense story :)

As for gender content I'd like...m/m mmm/m mf/m fff/m mmm/mmm m/mmm and mmmmmph!!!
I'm all yours. Use any method of tying me up and I'll welcome it. Gag me however you wish. Blindfold me if you need to. Just don't hurt me! :D
