BDSM and mental health

Postby Jack Roper » Thu Jun 13, 2013 12:34 pm

A friend sent me this link to a recent study regarding people who say they engage in BDSM activity, and it found that on many measures of mental health, BDSM folks are far healthier on the whole.

I wish I had seen this study when I was a teenager!

I already posted an article similar to this late last month.

However i didn't need to see such a study when i was a teenager. I was already sure I was - if not necessarily the only sane person in the world - at least as sane or saner than most of the people I went to school with, saw around town, saw on TV, or read about on the frikking news! :quirk:

Thanks Jason. I hadn't seen your previous post but this looks like the same survey being reported on by two different sources.

It's nice to know we may be saner than we realized.

Better still, saner than anyone else realized and probably saner than most of our critics too! :D

So now I have to blame my nuttiness on something else.

It's all just mind over matter. Those that matter, don't mind, and those that mind, don't matter.

Another... uhhh... *ahem!* original quote from Drawscore. But at least for once he echoes a sentiment I can agree with.

I have recently seen the same study from other sources which also claimed that those who are dominant are even more psychologically healthy than those who are submissive, though submissive is still healthier than the average person who is not into bondage. It is really quite interesting why this is but the reason from that video really makes quite a lot of sense.
