Sailor's Daughter: Summer Home Stretch. (Complete.)

Part 1: In this part, Katie has a big problem. Oh, and it isn't the letter she got from her school.

----Katie----

Well, it was the last week of Summer before school finally started up again. The events of last week were still proving difficult to get over. The side of my chest was still healing, and would hurt if I twisted the wrong way, or put pressure on it. It was a painful reminder of what had happened. Never-the less, I got dressed for bed in a pair of blue pajama pants, and a matching T-shirt. I then did my best to get some sleep.

I woke up slowly the next morning. When I opened my eyes, I noticed several things that were very wrong. The first being that it wasn't morning, as it was still dark outside. Another was that I was in the living room on the couch, and I know I didn't feel asleep here. The third was when I tried to get up I realized that my hands were bound behind my back with rope.

Perhaps this was a practical joke on Dad's part. When I tried to call him I noticed that my mouth had been taped shut as well.

“Dmmmd!” I tried to call, but my gag kept my lips secured very tightly. I tried to force my mouth open, but the tape that was used didn't budge at all. If this was Dad's idea of a joke, I wasn't finding it very funny.

I then heard the sound of footsteps. I saw Dad come down stairs.

“Katie!” He called, and then rushed over to me with a look of shock on his face. This dismissed my theory of this being a joke. He unwrapped the tape from my mouth, and was about to untie me when a new person came into view.

“Hello Jeff,” A familiar voice greeted. It was Henry. I couldn't believe my eyes. This had to be a dream. It just had to be. I saw that angry and crazed look return to my Dad's eyes, as he turned to face his enemy once again. Both men where unarmed, but that didn't stop them from picking up where they left off.

While Dad and Henry brawled, I did my best to get free of the ropes binding my hands. Without Dad's assistance I had little chance of removing the waist rope, and the bonds on my hands offered no slack.

Eventually, Henry broke free, and ran out of the house. Dad was in hot pursuit. I then remembered what I did to get loose in Mister Bennett's house. Our couch had a leg that would be perfect for sawing the ropes off. I got off the couch, and began to saw away, but for some strange reason, the ropes didn't cut.

Dad then came back. I saw he now had a gun in his hand. He then did the unthinkable. He looked at me with those crazy eyes, and pointed his gun at me.

“Dad!” I shrieked. Dad blinked at me.

“You're calling me Dad now?” He asked.

“Yes!” I screamed.

“Henry, you've lost your mind,” He said. It took me a second to register what he just said. He just called me Henry. How could I possibly be Henry?

“I'm not Henry!” I screamed, in utter panic. Dad had finally flipped.

“Save it you monster!” Dad yelled.

“Dad, it's me!” I screamed. “I'm Katie, your daughter!”

“Any last words?” Dad asked, ignoring me.

“NOOOOOOOOO!!” I shrieked.

“Katie! Wake up!” Dad then yelled. It didn't make any sense, but I was so terrified, I didn't care. “Wake up!” He yelled again.

I burst awake covered in sweat. I was hyperventilating heavily too. I looked to my right, and saw Dad in his pajama pants and an old T-shirt looking at me with a very concerned look on his face. Once the shock had subsided, I then saw that I was in fact in my bedroom. I looked back at Dad, and gave him a hug, as I cried into his shirt.

“It's alright, it's alright,” He said, trying to calm me down. He just sat on my bed, and allowed me to just let it out for a few minutes.

“How did you-?” I finally asked.

“I was just leaving the restroom, and I heard you screaming in your sleep,” He said.

“I-I'm sorry,” I sobbed. He then let go of me. “I had a nightmare.”

“Do you want to tell me about it?” He asked. I hesitated for a moment, but then told him about what had happened in the dream.

“You then started calling me Henry,” I said, in a shaky voice. “I tried to stop you, but you would listen.” Dad followed along with everything I had told him while analyzing it as best he could.

“I think it's fairly obvious that something that happened back at that house is bothering you,” He said. “And I'm guessing it's something I did,” He then added. I finally nodded yes, and let him know what was really at the heart of this.

“I've seen you angry, but I've never seen you like that before,” I explained, through teary eyes. “When I saw you and Henry fighting, you looked like you'd lost control of yourself,” I continued. Dad hung onto my every word. “I was afraid, what if it happened again? What if you never came back and-and-” I couldn’t bring myself to finish, and began sobbing into my blankets.

“It's okay Katie. I think I know what you're trying to say,” Dad said. I looked up from my blankets. “You're afraid of me losing my mind, and hurting you. Right?” He asked.

“Yes,” I sobbed.

“Oh Katie, I'm sorry,” Dad said, with guilt in his voice. “When I saw you on the floor in pain with Henry pointing that gun at you, and poor Linda unable to help...I guess I snapped,” He explained. “Last time I hesitated, but after what he did to you, I...I wasn't going to give him the chance to do it again. I lost your mother. I'm not losing you too, and that's probably the best way I can explain it. Please understand that I love you very much, and I'm sorry that I scared you.” I nodded to show I understood.

“I just-I just feel so weak right now,” I said, looking down in shame. Dad scowled at me.

“Oh Katie. Come on,” He groaned. I looked back at him.“You are, without question, the toughest girl I know,” He said, in a firm voice. This did make me feel better. “No one should ever have to go through what you and Linda endured, and yet you came out of it stronger, not weaker. You were outmatched, but you chose to fight anyway. Not many girls have the courage to do that, and I'm glad that you put those lessons to good use.”

“Yeah, but - I don't know if I'll have the same level of confidence as before,” I said. Dad smirked at me.

“Katie, I know you very well. You will,” He said firmly, but also gently. I smiled at him.

“Thanks,” I said.

“Why don't you try to get some sleep now,” Dad suggested, and got up off my bed. I nodded, and crawled back under the covers. “And Katie?” Dad asked.

“Yeah?” I asked back.

“I love you more then anything else in this world,” He said, and then left my room. I took a few minutes to think about what he told me. At least I now knew that he was just an angry father protecting his child. With that I was able to drift to sleep again, and this time, my sleep was nightmare free.

* * * *

I woke up to a dull and gray Sunday morning. I also took notice of that fact that I was actually in my bed this time, so that was a good sign that things were back to normal. I turned to look at my clock, and saw that it was a few minutes past ten. With a groan, I got out of bed, grabbed a towel, and headed for my bathroom to take a shower.

Once I was done in the shower, I blow-dried my hair, and combed it out. I then went back to my room to get dressed. I decided to go with a pair of gray sweat pants, and a navy polo shirt that had long sleeves. The shirt was made from pima cotton which is very soft and cozy. As usual, I left two buttons undone, and made sure the collar looked nice. I then tucked my shirt into my pants. Now all that was left was my hair.

With the aid of my trusty folding mirror, I brought my side bangs behind my head, and used a barrette to hold them into an ornamental ponytail. I finished by making sure my back hair was brushed behind my shoulders. Satisfied with my outfit and hair, I left my room, and headed for the kitchen to get some breakfast.

As I rounded the kitchen, and saw Dad standing by one of the counters making waffles. Oh, and these weren't the waffles that you get in the Frozen Food section. These were home made. (Thank you Lucy for the recipe.) Dad was dressed in a pair of shorts, and a Camouflage T-shirt that reads: “Ha! Now you can't see me.”

“You feeling any better?” He asked.

“Yeah, I guess,” I sighed, as I sat down on one of the stools by the island. Dad then snapped his fingers.

“Oh, now that you're here,” He said, and then reached across the counter to grab a piece of paper. “School sent this. It's about the uniform policy.” I let out a moan. Now, to be fair, I should point out that Richmond Academy is a private school that is really good. The classes are always kept interesting by teachers who have a sense of humor, and they are very good about helping students learn in a variety of ways.

The only drawback is it's uniform policy. It was very strict. Skirts had to be the precise length. Everyone was dressed in the same colors. We all had to wear neck ties, et cetera, et cetera. I hate wearing neck ties. Hell, I don't even like having the top button on my shirt done up, as I've demonstrated before.

“What is it now? Tuxedo's?” I asked. Dad just snorted.

“Nope. They've taken out the uniform, and implemented a dress code,” He said. I perked right up.

“Really?” I asked.

“Listen to this,” Dad stated, and turned back to the paper. “While we still want our students to look academically professional. We also want them to be able to express a sense of individuality as well," Dad read aloud. Already I was liking this. Dad then continued. "Okay, uh...Shirts: All students will now be required to wear a polo, or oxford style shirt in any one solid color of their choosing. All shirts must have collars, buttons, and sleeves, (long or short),” Dad announced, and then looked over at me. I looked down at the shirt I was currently wearing, and then back to him.

“This could be a real problem,” I said, in a sarcastic tone.

“I know. The twenty that you have just might not be enough,” Dad said, in his own sarcastic tone which made me laugh. That cinched it for me. Trading sarcasm was a sure sign that things were back to normal between us. “Sweaters in the colors black, blue, or white may also be worn over school shirts if students so desire to,” Dad read.

“That's nice,” I said. Dad then continued.

“Okay, Boys. We can skip that...Alright Girls: Girls may also wear blue jeans, as well as pants, skirts, and shorts in black, khaki, or gray colors. All skirts must be no shorter then two inches above the knee, and may also be paired with tights or leggings in the before mentioned colors,” Dad announced.

“This is almost the way I dress on a standard basis,” I said, as Dad pulled out a plate to set the waffle on now that it was done cooking.

“It's not much different then most dress codes in schools nowadays,” Dad said, and then continued to read. “Here, listen to this: Also, on Fridays, Students may dress in whatever fashion they choose.” Casual Fridays? That's perfect.

"So on Fridays, I can wear my camouflage pants. Cool," I chirped.

"It would seem that way," Dad said, as he folded the letter back up, and put it back in the envelope.

“Was there anything else?” I asked.

“Nothing that applies to you,” Dad said, as he then buttered the waffle.

“What does that mean?” I asked, as I got up off the stool to fetch the blueberry syrup from the refrigerator. Dad then set the waffle down on the island in front of where I was sitting.

“Do you have tattoos?” He asked. I shook my head no. “Do you have body piercings other then your ears?” He asked.

“Oh, gotcha,” I said, as I now understood what it was. It was the list of accessories that weren't allowed. I usually wear a belt for color, and maybe a wrist watch. That was pretty much it. So yeah, he was right. I didn't have to worry about it. Overall, I was very pleased with the change. I smiled, as I poured some syrup on my waffle, and began to eat.

Part 2: In this part, Sam and Lucy pay Katie a visit, and subject her to the best poetry ever.

----Katie----

I kinda finished my breakfast slowly, as I wanted to just take it easy today. Dad's waffle had finished cooking by the time I was done eating. Once I was done, I rinsed off my plate, and put it in the dishwasher.

“I guess I'll see what the Sidemen are up to,” I thought to myself, as I walked out of the kitchen. I made it halfway up the stairs when I heard the doorbell ring. “Or maybe I'll answer the door,” I then thought.

I walked back downstairs, and over to the door. I was greeted by Sam and Lucy. Lucy was dressed in a pair of denim shorts, and a T-shirt that read: “I'm awake and I'm dressed. What more do you want?”. Sam was wearing a T-shirt that featured Cloud Strife, along a pair of dark blue skinny jeans and tennis shoes. Both had their hair tied into ponytails.

“Hello,” I greeted, and allowed my friends entry, and then I the door.

“Well, it's nice to see you smiling again,” Lucy said, sounding quite pleased.

“Hi Sam, Hi Lucy!” Dad called from the kitchen.

“Hi Mr. Narrows!” They both called back. My friends and I decided to make ourselves more comfortable on the couch and recliners.

“Anyways Katie, you've been kinda depressed over the last week, and now you seem like your chipper old self again,” Lucy stated. I just shrugged. She was right. I was pretty glum, and sometimes skittish. Every time my friends asked me about it I always told them that I didn't want to talk about it.

“Yeah, what happened?” Sam asked. I thought about how I should answer this.

“Dad and I had a talk last night that...it cleared up a lot of my concerns,” I said, with a nod.

“That's good,” Sam said. I smiled again, and then changed the subject to them.

“So, how?-oh, hold on a sec,” I said, and got up off the couch. Before I started, I needed to set a better mood. I walked over to our fireplace. Above the fireplace mantel is a hole in the wall that holds an mp3 player, and two good sized speakers. I turned on the player, and flipped through the albums available. I turned on Oxygene by Jean Michel Jarre, and then sat back down on the couch.

“So, how are Amy and Lauren doing?” I asked Sam. I don't remember if I mentioned it or not, but Amy and Lauren are Sam's two younger twin sisters.

“They're doing fine,” Sam said with a smile. “Mom took them out to the park for some sketch work.” Sam's Mother and Sisters certainly have quite the passion for art. We then turned to Lucy.

“How's Darren Lucy,” I asked.

“He's getting set for his first year of college now,” Lucy answered. “And I won't miss him.” I grinned at her.

“Yes you will,” I said, with a sneer.

“No I won't,” She said, giggling.

“Yes you will,” Sam said. “It will come eventually.”

Lucy just shrugged. She then did what any friend who's been backed into a corner would do: She changed the subject again.

By the way, did you get your school pamphlet yet Katie?” Lucy asked me. I nodded yes.

“Yes, and I am so glad they toned down the dress code,” I said. “I hate wearing neckties,” I added, and my friends agreed.

“Amen to that,” Sam grumbled in agreement. She then pulled out her phone to answer a text. “Though it does mean going out shopping for new clothes,” She then added, with a shrug. It was at that time that Dad was finally done in the kitchen, and came out to greet my friends.

“Hey girls. How are you two doing?” He asked.

“We're doing good,” Lucy said. Dad nodded, and then adjourned upstairs to his computer. Normally this is where I'd crack some joke about him living in front of the damn thing, but this was work related, so I'll let it pass. I then turned to Lucy.

“So what do you think of the new dress code Lucy?” I asked. Lucy shrugged.

“I'm okay with it,” She said nonchalantly. I then shrugged.

“So...what shall we do now?” I asked. Lucy and Sam looked at each other, and then back at me with evil smiles. Oh boy.

“We thought you'd never ask,” Lucy said, with a sneer.

“What are you up to?” I asked, with suspicion in my voice.

“Well, we know you haven't been in a happy mood as of late, soooo-,” She said, looking over at Sam.

“So Lucy and I brought something to help cheer you up,” Sam said. They both then produced small notebooks from their pants pockets. They both looked as though they were desperately trying to keep straight faces.

“We'll need a sock, some tape, and a few lengths of rope,” Sam insisted. I frowned slightly.

“Look, I appreciate what you might have in mind, but I just don't feel like being tied up right now,” I sighed. “Maybe I'll feel up to it in about a week or so, but right now, I'm still trying to get the horrors of last week out of my mind.”

“Oh trust me, You'll forget um after this,” Sam said, and finally started giggling.

“Katie...you're gonna love this,” Lucy insisted, with a huge smile. “If it makes you feel better, you'll be doing the tying.”

“Well, when you put it that way,” I said with a shrug, and got up off the couch.

I went back to my room, and opened my “Toy Box.” It was the bottom drawer of my dresser. It had all of my ropes, and gags that I've been using over the summer. I pulled out two lengths of rope, and two bandanas, and then went back down stairs.

Lucy and Sam were still giggling when I got back to the living room. I set the binding equipment on the armrest of the couch, and sat back down at my original spot. Sam then gave me the notebook in her hand. I quickly understood why they were trying so hard not to laugh when I saw what was written. It was a series of script lines. Each one was numbered.

“Everyone ready?” Lucy asked. I nodded yes. Lucy then turned to Sam, and started to read aloud from her notebook first.

“Sam, you are a very bad girl, and you should be ashamed of that naughty mouth of yours,” She said. I blinked at her with a look of awe on my face. “A mouth like yours needs to be silenced.” This time I burst out laughing. My two friends followed suit.

“What is this?” I asked. Lucy just smirked at me.

“It's your turn, Katie. Read out the first line, and start with Sam's name,” Lucy instructed. I just shrugged.

“Sam, you are a very bad girl, and you don't deserve to be able to talk,” I read aloud. “You are a very bad girl. You should be gagged.” I barely finished before we all started laughing again.

“Okay, I know you didn't just make this up. You saw it somewhere,” I stated. Lucy chuckled along with me.

“We found this on a Youtube video called Gag Hypnosis,” Sam explained. “We just copied the best bits of what it said.” I looked over at Lucy who grinned at me. She then looked back at Sam, and read her next line.

“You are such a naughty girl, and with such a naughty mouth too,” She said. She then turned the page in her notebook, and then looked to me. I guess it was my line now.

“You should be wearing a gag right now,” I stated. I didn't know how to respond to this. It was so funny. I just smiled, and kept going. “No one wants to listen to you. You need to be gagged. You deserve to be gagged.” After another laughing fit, it was Lucy's turn again.

“Your mouth should always be gagged. You should serve as an example to others,” She said, and then looked at me to see my reaction. I just shook my head in disbelief. “You don't deserve to be able to talk. You deserve to be gagged all the time.” Lucy looked over at me expectantly again. I turned the page on my notebook, and read out the next line.

“Repeat after me,” I instructed. “I want to be gagged. I need to be gagged. I deserve to be gagged.”

“I want to be gagged. I need to be gagged. I deserve to be gagged,” Sam replied. Lucy then looked back at her notes.

“You will never talk again,” She claimed. “You will only mumble into your gag.” Again, we all laughed. I was starting to get this now.

“Repeat after me,” I ordered. “I want to be gagged. I need to be gagged. I deserve to be gagged.”

“I want to be gagged. I need to be gagged. I deserve to be gagged,” Sam said, grinning.

“All you are is a naughty girl,” Lucy stated. “A naughty girl who will always need to be gagged.”

“Repeat after me,” I insisted, after I rolled my eyes. “I must keep myself gagged at all times,” I said.

“I must keep myself gagged at all times,” Sam said, with a smile. Lucy and I both turned the pages again, and started giggling already.

“Your gag-talk is going to make people laugh,” Lucy said. She was having way too much fun with this. “You want to make people laugh.”

“Repeat-” I was cut short by my own laughing. “Repeat after me,” I said, while giggling. “I will talk into my gag to amuse people,” I finally said.

“I will-” Sam's laughing cut her response short just like mine. “I will talk into my gag to amuse people,” I stated. Gag-talking is the best part after all. My friends and I were laughing hysterically.

“Now, this is where the video material kinda stops, but there's actually more to this that we made up,” Lucy then said.

“More?” I questioned.

“Yeah. As I said, it wasn't part of the video though. We just added it in ourselves,” Lucy claimed, as she turned another page. She then looked to Sam, and started to read.

“While your mouth is gagged, you need to have your hands bound, so that you don't remove it,” She said. “You must not be tempted to remove your gag.”

At this point I'm just going to say that with every line spoken, a laughing fit followed. Somehow though, I knew being bound was going to come up. It was nice to have fun with this again. I then spoke.

“You need your hands bound behind you back,” She insisted. “You will never take your gag off.”

“Being bound looks cute,” Lucy then said. “You want to look cute. You deserve to look cute.” I had a feeling I knew what was coming next. I then looked at my line.

“Repeat after me,” I instructed. (Called it.) “I want my hands bound behind my back. I want to look cute, and not be tempted to remove my gag.” I was so embarrassed at this point, but in a fun loving way.

“I want my hands bound behind my back. I want to look cute, and not be tempted to remove my gag,” Sam said, and in a rather requesting tone I might add. Lucy then pointed back at the stuff I had brought down with me.

“What do you want first Sam? Gag or Rope?” I asked..

“Gag,” Sam requested. I nodded my acknowledgment. Gag it is. I went with the gag that Dad had used on me that one time. I folded the sock twice with the second fold not reach all the way to the other two ends from the first fold. I then put the sock in Sam's mouth so that the crease pushed on the corners of it. The two ends from the first fold were sticking out somewhat. She gave me a confused look.

“You'll see,” I insisted. I then tore off a piece of duct tape, and with one end of the sock folded up over my upper lip, I pressed the tape over it. The piece of tape reached from one of my ears to the other. Lucy and Sam looked quite intrigued as I tore another piece, and did the same thing with the sock and my lower lip. I then added one more piece across the center for good measure.

“Oh, those two parts protect your lips from the tape,” Lucy said.

"Dad showed me that trick," I said, quite proudly.

“Ihhs rrlly clvvrr,” Sam said through her gag, and we all laughed. She then decided to raise her hands up to her gag, and felt all around it just to see how we'd react.

“Ah ah. That's a no no,” I said. I then grabbed the rope, and walked around behind her. “Hands please,” I ordered. Sam put her hands behind her back so I could bind them. It was only at this point I realized that I must used one of the twenty foot pieces, because once Sam's wrists were tied, I had enough to do a waist rope as well.

“Repeat after me,” At least that's what I think Lucy tried to say, but it came out as laugh-talk. (Yes, that's a word now.) “Repeat after me,” She said, once she calmed down. “I love being bound and gagged more then anything in the world.”

“Ih lvve bbnng bnndd nnd ghggdd mmrr thnn nnythngg nn thh wrrld,” Sam repeated, and laughed into her gag again.

Part 3: In this part, Katie and her friends attempt to expose a few TV damsels as frauds.

----Katie----

“Now, are you going to try to escape?” Lucy asked. Sam shook her head no. I could tell by the look on her face that she was loving this.

“Good girl,” Lucy said.

The fun was briefly interrupted by Dad who was coming downstairs. He had shoes on along with his jacket. The telltale signs that he was heading out somewhere. He paused when he saw us.

“I know I'm gonna regret this, but what's going on here?” He asked. Lucy and I looked at each other, and then back at him. Sam was laughing into her gag.

“We were just seducing Sam with poetry,” I answered, trying to sound innocent. Sam and Lucy laughed again. Dad shook his head.

“I had to ask,” He sighed. “Anyways, just letting you know, I'm heading out to get lunch,” Dad said.

“What are you getting?” I asked.

“I'm just getting a teriyaki smorgasbord,” He said. What he means is, he's getting a bunch of various meals, and we can all kinda mix and match our favorite things as we like.

“Sounds great,” I said, and with that Dad left.

“So do we want to watch a movie, or play a game?” Lucy asked. It was the word movie that sparked an idea.

“Lucy, you just gave me a great idea,” I said, sounding pleased with myself. Lucy and Sam perked up.

“I'm listening,” Lucy said.

“How about we look up tying and gagging scenes from movies on Youtube, and replicate them if we can,” I suggested. “We can then see how inescapable they really are,” I added, and held my hands in quote symbols at the word inescapable.

“That sounds like fun,” Lucy said.

“Mm ggmm. Ltts dh iht,” Sam tried to say.

“Let's untie Sam first,” I said. I untied her wrists, and she was able to do the rest from there. Sam decided to wait until we reached my room to remove her gag. She handed me the tape that was on her mouth with the sock attached to it. I removed the sock by the only dry part available, and put it in my dirty clothes hamper.

All three of us then gathered around my computer, and I went onto Youtube to see what I could find.

“Once Upon A Time had one?” Sam questioned. Quick note: That's one of several shows that Sam follows religiously.

“Apparently,” I said with a shrug, and clicked the video. The scene featured a basic hands behind the back tie, and a cleave gag for the actress. Once it was over, I turned and looked at Lucy.

“Well? You wanna try?” I asked.

“Sure,” Lucy said with a shrug.

“She had to use glass. Let's see how fast you can do it without glass,” I said. I walked around behind Lucy with the same rope that I used on Sam. Lucy removed her glasses, and set them on my desk. She then put her hands behind her back, and I bound them accordingly. Next, I gagged her with a bandana in between her teeth, and knotted at the back of her head.

Once she was bound, I sat back down in my computer chair. Sam was readying her watch.

“Okay, go,” She said. Lucy leaned backwards, and easily moved her hands from behind her to in front of her. She was also able to use her teeth to untie the knot even with the cleave gag in her mouth.

“Thsh thh prbblmm wwth thsh knnd ff ghg,” She said. Once her hands were untied, she easily removed her gag. “How'd I do?” She then asked, retrieving her glasses, and putting them back on.

“Just over a minute,” Sam answered.

“Yeah, that one was the same basic stuff we always do,” I said.

“We need to find one that maybe looks flimsy, and yet they still can't, or don't escape,” Sam insisted. I nodded my head in agreement, and then searched for more videos.

Believe it or not, it took us a bit of a while to find another video that matched our criteria. A lot of them involved the Damsel in Distress actually escaping which we didn't want, as we were looking for ones where they don't. It's also kinda hard to mount an escape when the bad guy was hovering over you, so those scenes were also out.

After about fifteen minutes of searching, we came across a couple gems. It was the pair of scenes from Red. You know the ones I'm talking about. The ones with Marie Louis Parker. The scene in the car was out for us, because that's pretty easy to escape. The tie on the bed however...

“Well Katie, Lucy and I went. You want to try?” Sam asked. I thought about it for a second shrugged.

“I don't know, she still escaped,” I said, sceptically.

“Yeah, but she had to destroy the bed in order to do it,” Lucy said. “Want to see if you can do better?”

“Oh sure,” I said, with a shrug. I guess this was as good a time as any. I pulled out another piece of rope for them to use. Lucy and Sam did a Rock-Paper-Scissors to see who would tie me. Sam won that bout of competition, and selected the first piece of rope. She wound the rope into a cuff around my left wrist. She was also nice enough to tie the cuff over the sleeve of my shirt. She then tied the other end of the rope around the leg of my bed.

With my left wrist held firmly in place, Sam then did the same with my right hand. She finished the tie by tying my feet together in the usual manner. As she picked up the roll of duct tape, I tested the bonds out a bit.

“I like this position,” I complimented. It was all I could say before Sam placed a single strip of tape over my mouth.

“Okay, hit the timer,” Lucy said, and I began my escape attempt.

Twenty Minutes Later.

It actually took me twenty minutes to get out of the tie, and that's only because the knots in the rope finally sagged to the point in which I could get my wrists through the loops. Once my hands were loose, I untied my feet, and took the tape off my mouth.

“Not my best work,” I said.

“Well, at least you didn't destroy your bed,” Sam said, with a giggle, just as Dad came into view from the doorway. We all paused, as he blinked at us.

“What's this about destroying beds?” He asked.

“Nothing,” All three of us said in unison. This only made him more suspicious.

“Anyways, lunch is downstairs,” He said, and then left. My friends and I put the ropes back, the used tape in the trash, and the bandana in my dirty clothes hamper. We then went down to the kitchen for a wonderful Teriyaki lunch.

* * * *

We all took a plate, and selected portions of our favorite items. We had chicken, beef, and even a few prawns. We also had rice, yakisoba, and my personal favorite...sushi. I filled up my plate with my desired amount, said grace, and began to eat.

“So, did you two see your new school dress code?” Dad asked Lucy and Sam.

“Yes, and it's so much better,” Lucy said.

“Amy, Lauren, and I are going out uniform shopping with our Mom tomorrow,” Sam said, sounding somewhat pleased.

“It's not really a uniform Sam,” I told her.

“I still kinda think it is, but at least it gives room for personality,” She responded. Sam's mentioning of her shopping trip then reminded me of something.

“Oh, Lucy, before I forget,” I said, as I finished a bite of chicken. Lucy looked over at me. “Dad has to go to work tomorrow, and I didn't want to spend that time alone here. Can I come over to your house?” I asked.

“Yeah, sure,” Lucy chirped.

“Thanks,” I said, and began chowing down on another piece of sushi.

Nothing really notable happened for the rest of the day. We kinda had our tie up fix taken care of, so we didn't do anymore. I'll skip ahead to the next day when I can. Right now Dad and I are joining Officer Peterson at our local shooting range.

Part 4: In this part, Katie, Lucy, and Lucy's Brother, Darren, get into a few fights.

----Katie----

Monday...

So yeah, I was at Lucy's house today. It was afternoon, and we had just finished lunch. The weather was cloudy, but not enough to rain. Lucy and I were in the living room. She was playing Smash 4 on the Wii U while I was doing push-ups. In spite nursing cracked ribs, I still needed to stay in shape.

Push-ups are one of few exorcizes that didn't aggravate my injuries, and helped improve my cardiovascular system, so it worked out. I was dressed for the occasion in my favorite black sports bra and a pair of light blue, Nike, running shorts. My hair was tied back into a pony tail.

Lucy was dressed in a pair of dark blue track pants, and, rather surprisingly, a red polo shirt. Her hair was also in a pony tail. She was playing Roy on For Glory Mode with her feet propped up on my back, as I went up and down with my push-ups.

“How many are you on Katie?” She asked, as she smoked another opponent playing as Link.

“Fifty...six,” I said, in between breathes. As she left the results screen, and returned to the character select screen we both saw that the opposing player had the audacity to change his name to LuckyBitch. I actually lost my grip, and fell to the floor when I saw it.

“Oh hell no!” Lucy snarled. She selected Ike as her character, and started the game. Remember, Ike is Lucy's most dangerous character.

“You better two stock his ass,” I said, as I got up off the floor, and sat down on the couch beside her. Lucy had her game face on. This was serious now. We almost didn't see Lucy's mother entering the room.

“What's going on?” She asked. I turned my head to face her.

“Lucy beat this jerk once, and then he changed his tag to say that,” I explained, as I pointed at the screen. Mrs. Wolff leaned over the couch, and watched the match start. She was up against Link again.

Lucy easily got the upper hand right from the start. She performed several attack combos, as well as a couple footstool combos, until Link was flung off the stage. Note that Lucy hadn't taken a single hit yet. The jerk decided to use his claw shot to recover. He jumped from the ledge while Lucy charged her foreword smash. The Link air dodged, and fell right into the trap. Lucy's smash slammed her opponent into the blast zone with ease.

“Oh my god,” I said, and we all started laughing. The link player put his second stock to good use...by running off the edge to end the match. Lucy did Ike's down taunt just before hand. Lucy then imitated the pose herself. Mrs. Wolff gave her a kiss on the side of her cheek, along with a smile.

“That's my girl,” She said, and then went upstairs. Lucy returned the smile, and looked over at me. I was grinning broadly.

“That's a JV2 stock right?” I asked. Lucy's face slumped a bit.

“JV3 Katie,” She sighed. She quickly changed her name to one that said: lol U mad?, and let it sink in for a bit before leaving the lobby.

“Where do you come up with those combos?” I asked, as she re-entered For Glory again.

“Lots of practice, and lots of hours watching pros,” Lucy said.

“Well, it was really cool to watch,” I said. I got off the couch, and began my push-ups again. Lucy once again used my back as a leg rest, and started up another match.

A few matches later.

“Lucy, I'm going out for a bit,” Lucy's Mom said, as she headed for the door.

“Okay,” Lucy said, and her mother left the house. It was at this time Lucy's brother, Darren, had come downstairs to join us. Darren was almost as tall as my dad with dark hair like his father, and his eyes were a great shade of brown. He was dressed in a gray cargo shorts, and a white T-shirt.

He asked Lucy something in German which made her shoulders slump. She then glared at him, and responded in German back. This made her brother laugh.

“What did he say?” I asked Lucy.

“He asked if this is my way of proclaiming dominance over you,” Lucy said. I paused my push-ups for a second or two, and let that sink in. No wonder he said it in German. Now that I had the translation, I pushed myself up, and glared at him.

“For your information, she's helping me with some exorcises, Buddy,” I snarled, as I continued with my exorcise. Darren just shrugged.

“How many are you on?” He then asked me. I pushed myself back up again.

“This is number one hundred,” I said. One hundred was a good place for me to stop. I got up off the floor, and joined Lucy on the couch. Darren leaned over the couch behind us.

“What's your record Lucy? Eighteen?” He then asked.

“Still better then yours,” Lucy said, in a dismissive tone. (Get wrecked Darren.) Darren frowned at his sister.

“What are you talking about? I can do way more then eighteen,” He claimed. I felt a sneer cross my face. Oh, how it payed to be the niece of a Marine Corps Gunnery Sergeant.

“Darren you probably wouldn't make it passed ten,” I challenged. Darren snorted at me. Even Lucy gave me a puzzled look. I nodded to her with a grin. Darren came around the front of the couch, and got on his stomach.

“Go ahead, count,” He demanded, and started his push-ups. As he did, I counted each one.

“One...two...two...two...” I did that three times before it finally sank in. Lucy started laughing once she realized what I was doing.

“What?” He asked, sounding offended. “That was four,” He then insisted.

“I only counted two,” I insisted back. At this point Lucy had lost her match do to pure hysterics. She was laughing so hard she fell over into me.

“Oh, sorry,” She then said, once she realized what happened.

“Katie, if you're not going to be serious-” He said, but I cut him off.

“I am being serious. That's something they do in the Marine Corps,” I told him. Darren then finally put the pieces together.

“Did your Uncle teach you this?” He asked. I nodded yes.

“Yep, now come on, you've done two, you need to do eight more,” I instructed. Darren shook his head.

“Screw this,” He sighed, and left the room in the direction of the kitchen. Lucy then yelled something in German as he left. He then yelled something else back.

“What did you say?” I asked her.

“I told him it looks like he just got dominated,” She said. I snorted.

“What did he say back?” I asked.

“He told me to shut up,” Lucy answered, and we both giggled.

As Lucy and I went onto For Glory mode for two players, we heard the sound of a blender being used. A few minutes, and one match later, Darren rejoined us with three smoothies in hand. One for each of us. At least he took it well.

“Oh, thanks Darren,” I said, as he offered one to me.

"Your welcome," He replied. He then walked over to his little sister.

“Thanks Darren,” She said, with a smile. Darren then sat down on the couch in between us. “Want to do some free-for-alls?” Lucy then asked.

“Sounds like fun,” Darren said. I nodded my agreement. As we drank our smoothies, Lucy set up the match. It was three stock with no time limit.

“Oh, hold on a minute,” Lucy said. She got up off the couch, and went up stairs. She came back down a few minutes later with a Link amiibo in hand. We then selected our names. I was BluePheonix, Lucy was Mystiq, and Darren was Radium. Lucy put her Link, which she nicknamed Fenris, into the game with us.

“Oh, Lucy, you want to set up something really sadistic?” I asked. Lucy eyed me.

“Go on,” She said. I went to the options menu, and turned on only S-flags, and set the match off of stock to time with the timer set to five minutes, and the item spawn frequency to maximum.

“Oh god, this isn't going to end well,” Darren sighed, knowing full well what was coming. I picked Pit as my character. Lucy picked Pikachu, and Darren went with Marth. With the conditions set, it was time to start the game.

It didn't take long for things to take a turn for the worst. One flag drops, and everyone goes for it. The amiibo had the clear advantage being heavier, and being able to output more damage. It didn't matter though. Once you tap A to use the flag, you're locked in place, and the other three will descend upon you like a pack of wolves. That is...unless they are occupied with their own flag.

“No! Stop him!” I yelled, as Fenris had himself a flag. Lucy thwacked him, and tried to take it for herself, only to then be instantly Koed by me. Since Darren had his own flag, he was unable to stop me from getting the point.

That's pretty much how the whole match went. Lots of yelling “stop him”, and lots of backstabbing. In the end, it was a face off between Lucy and Darren in sudden death.

“Hold on, let's let the bombs decide this,” Darren suggested, and set his controller down on his lap. Lucy shrugged, and did the same. We waited. Well, they waited. A smirk crossed Lucy's face. She then quickly put her thumb back on her controller, and tried to dash attack Marth. Darren must have known this was coming, because he put his shield up, and grabbed the Pikachu that dared to sneak attack him.

“Oh dammit,” Lucy moaned, but was still laughing. It was over.

Before Darren could throw his opponent off the stage however, a bomb dropped on both of them. It destroyed them both instantly, but the game registered Lucy with the one stock left.

“Oh, What?!” Darren complained, as Lucy and I were doubled over in laughter. “I'm calling BS on that one,” He claimed.

“You want a rematch?” Lucy asked, once she calmed down.

“Hell yes,” Darren said, sounding annoyed. I'm also going to let you all know right now: A tie up is coming.

Part 5: In this part, Katie makes a challenge, and then gets caught with her hands tied...literally.

----Katie----

The second match went almost the same as the first. All it took was for one flag to hit the stage, and it was a mad dash to get it, and then an even madder dash to use it. I got clever though. After blasting Darren off the stage, I grabbed the flag, and threw it off the stage as well.

“Oh, that's cheap!” Lucy complained, while I laughed. My friends, and even the amiibo, were in a spot now. I had the score lead which meant they either had to safely use a flag, or start trying to mount a comeback on K.O.s, and I wasn't letting them get points from flags.

“Katie, I hate you so much right now,” Darren snarled, as I blasted him again.

“You mad?” I asked him.

“Yes! I am-oh shit,” Darren said, before he ran right into Lucy's side smash which made her laugh.

The match went for its five minute duration, and I came out as the very clear winner. Lucy got second place, and I had almost twice her score. Darren however...

“Negative four Darren? Tsk tsk. Shameful,” Lucy stated. Darren glared at her, and then back at me.

“Katie, I want a one-on-one match with you. No items. For Glory rules,” Darren demanded. His pride evidently wounded. I smirked at him.

“Darren, I could beat you with both hands tied behind my back,” I claimed. Darren huffed a bit. That's when Lucy stepped in. She was grinning.

“You care to test that theory Katie?” She asked. I looked up in thought for a second.

“Sure, let's do it,” I said. Lucy then got up off the couch to go get something.

“Wait, what?” Darren asked.

“You'll see,” I said. Lucy then returned a few minutes later with a roll of duct tape. I put my hands behind my back with my controller in hand.

“Wait, you're actually going to do this?” Darren asked, sounding rather surprised.

“Yep,” I chirped. Lucy peeled some tape from the roll, and began wrapping it around my wrists. There was a fair amount of space in between my hands, but Lucy solved that by looping tape vertically over the band to make tape handcuffs. I could hear Darren snickering next to me.

“Before you start laughing Dude, just think of how embarrassed you'll be if I win this,” I said. Darren stopped laughing once I planted that thought into his mind. He then made a point of his own.

“And if you loose?” He suggested. Lucy then spoke up.

“If she looses, then I'll teach her not to open up her big mouth,” She said, holding the duct tape up. This actually made all three of us laugh. With the stipulations in place, it was time to start the match. We both changed the rules, and selected our characters. I went with my Main, Fox. Darren picked Marth again. We picked our stage, and the match was on.

Darren quickly learned that I know the GameCube controller very well. Even with my awkward hand position, I could still play almost with the same level of precision. Darren was no slouch in the skill department either. Remember, his little sister is a tournament player, so he has a great sparring partner. The thing is: His sparring partner is also my sparring partner. Within about three minutes, I took the match.

“Well, there you have it,” I said, and Darren gave my a nod. He looked quite impressed.

“Uh uh,” Lucy interjected. I looked at her.

“What?” I asked.

“Best two out of three,” She said.

“Oh, right,” I said, knowing it was the primary format for tournament gameplay. Darren nodded in agreement, and picked up his controller again. He then made a switch to Lucario, before we started the next match.

The next match was much tougher for me. I was able to rack up damage in a hurry, but that's what Lucario wants. He wants that aura boost, along with the rage factor. After about two minutes, Darren won pretty convincingly.

“Fox is good at getting damage, but he has a hard time finishing the job,” Darren pointed out.

“We still have one more match. You haven't won yet,” I then stated. I decided to switch my character, and I picked Mewtwo.

“Mewtwo?” Darren asked, while laughing at me. “Mewtwo sucks in this game.”

“Maybe your Mewtwo sucks,” I snarled, and we then started the game.

This match believe it or not was more even then the last one. Yes Mewtwo is light, big, and floaty, but I knew a few tricks with him that Darren likely wouldn't see coming. Tricks like a Forward-Air out of his vanishing air dodge. Or the fact that Mewtwo has some of the best finishing moves in the game. Every move he has is dangerous in the hands of someone who knows what they're doing.

“Okay, didn't see that coming,” Darren said, as I took his first stock with an up-smash.

“You think this is good, you should see Linda play Mewtwo,” I said firmly. Due to Mewtwo's lack of weight, I got K.O.ed pretty quickly once Lucario got back to the stage. I played defensively, I waited for Darren to make a mistake, and punish it. It was pretty close, but I made one little slip of my own.

“Oh dammit!” I yelped. I air dodged two close to the ground, and Darren took advantage with a force palm that took me out. The results were in. Darren won fair and square.

“Katie, I'm actually very impressed you were able to play like that,” He complimented, making notion of my bound hands. I nodded to him, and looked over ta Lucy who grinned at me.

“Alright, do your worst,” I moaned at her. Lucy just shrugged, but as she grabbed the tape again, the front door was opened by Mrs. Wolff returning home with a few bags of groceries in hand.

The sight she was greeted with was Lucy sitting on the couch with a roll of duct tape in her hand. Me sitting on the couch with my hands taped behind my back, and Darren sitting on the couch with a guilty look on his face. She blinked at us for a few minutes. All three of us were thinking the same thing: busted!

“I leave you three here alone for one hour, and this is what I come home to,” Mrs. Wolff stated. She didn't seem angry, or anything like that. In fact, her voice had that joking tone to it. In spite of that however, Lucy, Darren, and I knew there would be some explaining to do.

Mrs. Wolff walked over to the kitchen to put the groceries on the counter briefly, and then came back to see us.

“You two care to explain why Katie's tied up?” She asked her Son and Daughter, in a matter-of-fact tone of voice. I, however, was the one to speak.

“Well, I kinda did it to myself,” I said, nervously. Mrs. Wolff looked at me with round eyes.

“How?” She asked.

“I told Darren I could beat him in a match with both hands tied behind my back, and Lucy asked if I wanted to test the theory,” I explained. “And I said yes.”

“Alright, fair enough. As long as you agreed to it,” Mrs. Wolff said, and I nodded. She then turned to Lucy. “Lucy, would you be so kind as to let her go now?” She then asked.

“Katie is able to free herself,” Lucy said, with a hint of pride in her voice. She then turned to me. “Go ahead, show her,” She insisted.

“I'd actually kinda like to see this too,” Darren added. Lucy's Mother looked at me. I just sighed. Lucy was right, but there was one small problem.

“Lucy, in order for me to do that, I'd have to contort myself in a way that my aggravate my ribs,” I said. Lucy nodded to me.

“Oh yeah, I forgot about that,” She said. While Mrs. Wolff went back to the kitchen to deal with the groceries, Lucy located the nearest pair of scissors to cut the tape from my hands. Once my hands were free, we all joined Mrs. Wolff in the kitchen to give her a hand.

So, yep. That was how that day went. Lucy's Mother took my being tied up pretty well. Her Family was nice enough to invite me to dinner as well since Dad called, and told them he was going to be late. Unfortunately nothing interesting happens until Saturday, so next time, I'll talk about that.

Part 6: In this part, we go over the river, and through the woods to Grandmother's house.

----Katie----

Saturday, 11:00 am...

It was fairly warm out today with the sun shining brightly, and only a few small clouds were in sight. It wasn't quite sunshine and roses for us though. Apparently my Grandmother went outside to make sure her portable generator still worked, and it didn't turn on. So Dad and Uncle Robert were headed out to her house to see what we could do before the cold winter, (and possible power outages,) started up again. Linda, Sam, and I were along for the ride. Lucy was at a Smash tournament, so she wasn't with us for this trip.

Dad was dressed in cargo shorts, a blue T-shirt, and a pair of athletic shoes. Sam was dressed in cream colored shorts, tennis shoes, and a purple shirt featuring Mega Mewtwo Y. As for me, I had on my favorite camouflage pants, along with my favorite black birthday polo shirt, and a pair of black sneakers. Linda was dressed in skinny jeans, a dark green oxford shirt with short sleeves, and a pair of calf high boots.

My Grandmother lives close to the foothills in the mountains, and doesn't get too many visitors other then Dad, Uncle Robert and me. It was about a fourty minute drive out to her house, and my friends and I passed the time with a very important business transaction.

“Okay Katie, I have that Honedge you wanted. The one with Wide guard, modest nature, and max I.V.s in all stats except speed,” Sam said. “Do you have the Cyndaquil you were working on?” She then asked. I looked back at my game to scroll through my Pokemon boxes.

“Yep. It has Flash Fire, and Extrasensory as an egg move, but I forgot what nature you wanted,” I responded.

“Oh, it's nature's irrelevant, I can fix that,” Sam scoffed.

“By the way Sam, what would you recommend for an E.V. spread?” I then asked. Sam looked up from her game over to me.

“You wanted to go the defensive route, right?” She asked. I nodded yes.

“I'd put one-ninety-six in both defenses, and then pour everything else into health,” Sam answered. “Aegislash will still be packing enough special attack to get the job done offensively as well.”

My friends and I poke a lot of fun at Sam's lack of skill at Smash, but when it comes to Pokemon, (or pretty much any other RPG,) She rules as queen. She knows Pokemon inside and out, and we usually go to her for advice. The only other person I know of who knows RPGs better is Uncle Robert, and even that's a close call.

As I looked back at my screen to see the trade taking place, it was now Linda's turn.

“By the way Sam, would you be interested in a Ferroseed that has Stealth Rock, Spikes, and Leech Seed?” Linda asked, now turning her attention to Sam. Sam's eyes lit up at hearing that.

“Very much so,” Sam chirped.

“It may have those egg moves, but it's stats are really bad,” Linda explained.

“Don't worry about the stats, I'll take care of that,” Sam said. “I'll give you a Magicarp with Hustle for it.”

“I do believe we have a deal,” Linda said.

“I'll also breed an extra one for you too,” Sam then added, to which Linda nodded a thank you. “You want one too Katie?” She then asked me.

“Yes please,” I said. I was also pleasantly surprised to see that Sam had given my new Honegde a Dusk Stone as a hold item.

“Also, Kate, would you like to join me in the battle Maison?” Linda then asked.

“Sure, just let me get my team set up,” I said.

* * * *

Linda and I had a pretty good run through the battle Maison. Given the fact that Sam was sitting next to Linda, she was able to watch, and give pointers when we hit some rough spots. Once we beat the final opponent, Linda and I exchanged a high five.

“Katie, that Gliscor of yours is an absolute boss,” Sam said. She's referring to the fact that Linda's two pokemon got singled out and taken out during the first two rounds, and it was up to me to win all by myself. I managed to do it with just my Gliscor.

“Girl's, you may want to wrap it up,” Dad suggested. He'd been pretty quiet so far, which was unusual.

“Are we almost there?” I asked.

“Yep,” Dad responded. All of us saved our games, and turned them off. Dad turned the truck onto a gravel road through a wooded area. The road took a dip, before going up a short hill. At the top of the hill was a chain link fence that surrounded a clearing with a fairly good sized house in the middle. As you have likely guessed, this is my Grandmother's House.

The house was pretty old, and chips of cream colored paint were pealing off of it. All manner of trees, flowers, and bushes adorned a gravel path that surrounded the house. A few apple orchards dotted the area, along with a few more flower beds.

Dad stopped the truck at the front gate, and got out to open it up. He then drove us the rest of the way through. My Grandmother doesn't really have a driveway, so we parked next to a tree in the yard.. We also quickly noticed that Uncle Robert's Jeep was parked in the yard as well next to my Grandma's car.

Once Dad stopped the truck, we all got out. Standing at the door was my Granny. She was about as tall as Lucy. (In other words, not very.) She had short hair that was graying, and almost always has a smile on her face. She was wearing a long sleeve plaid shirt, and cream colored pants.

“Hi there!” She greeted, in her always happy voice, as she came down the stairs to greet us.

“Hi Mom!” Dad called back. They then shared a hug. She then turned to me, and my friends.

“Hi Katie, how are you?” She asked, as she then gave me a hug.

“We're doing good,” I said. Sam was next in line next.

"It's good to see you again Sam," She said, and gave Sam a hug too. When it comes to my Grandmother, as long as you are family or friends, it's hugs for everyone.

“We were just along for the ride,” Sam said. That's when Grandma turned to Linda.

“And you must be Linda,” She said. I decided to do a quick intro.

“Oh, Granny-Linda, Linda-Granny,” I said, as I clasped my hands behind my back. Grandma looked at me with a scowl.

“Now since when was I ever Granny?” She asked. I just shrugged. My friends giggled. Grandma then turned back to Linda. “Anyways, it's nice to meet you Dear,” She then greeted.

“I'm very pleased to meet you too Mrs. Narrows,” Linda said.

“That's an English accent if I'm not mistaken,” Grandma asked. Linda then nodded yes. She then got a hug as well. Linda then turned to me.

“Now I know where you get your scowl from,” She said, and we all laughed.

“Hey Mom! Why'd you invite them? Now I have to share all the food!” A new voice called. We all turned to see Uncle Robert approaching us. He had on Blue jeans, brown work boots, and a T-shirt that had this phrase on it: I'm very easy to get along with once you people learn to worship me. It was also deeply implied that he brought lunch for everyone.

Grandma turned to my Uncle, as the rest of us laughed.

“Yes, well, it never hurt you before you big baby!” Grandma barked back, in an unsympathetic tone which made all of us laugh again. Uncle Robert came over, and greeted us accordingly.

“By the way Linda, I never got a chance to ask, how are you holding up?” Uncle Robert asked. I knew what he meant, as did Linda.

“I'm still a bit shaken up, but I'm okay,” She said.

“Well, shall we go take a look at the generator?” Dad then suggested. It was the sole reason why we were out here after all.

“Yes, you both know where it is,” Grandma said, and pointed to the back yard. As Dad and Uncle Robert headed to the back yard, she then turned to us. “Would you all like to come in for a cup of coffee?” She asked.

“Oh, yes please,” I said. She nodded, and we all went inside.

Part 7: In this part, Jeff and Robert have a bit of bad news, and a few stories are exchanged.

----Katie----

As we all walked inside, we were greeted by a flight of stairs. On the left was a hall way. On the right was the living room. We all passed through the living room, and into the kitchen. Grandma's kitchen was kinda small, but it had all the essentials. It even had an HD TV sitting on top of the microwave with Baseball on. Grandma pulled down a few mugs, and filled them with coffee for us.

“Now if anyone wants sweeteners, they're in this cupboard, and cream is in the refrigerator,” Grandma said. We said our thank yous, and added sugar and cream to our coffees respectively. “So Linda, how did you and Kaitlin meet?” Grandma then asked, breaking the silence. Linda blinked at her.

“Well, as you already know, I'm originally from England, and my family moved to America when I was fourteen,” Linda explained.

“So you haven't really been here that long,” Grandma said.

“Just a little under a year or so,” Linda said, and then continued her story. “Anyways, after settling into our new home, I needed to find a school, and my parents signed me up for Richmond Academy,” She explained.

“Were you nervous?” Grandma asked.

“I was kinda shy in the beginning, but it was okay. A bit later on though, I tried out for the swim team,” Linda said.

“Did you make it?” Grandma asked. Linda's lips curled into a sneer.

“I set a new record for the one hundred meter crawl stroke. A record held for three years by her,” She said, pointing at me. I just smiled.

“And that's how we met,” I added. Linda nodded with me.

“We quickly became friends, and it wasn't long before Katie introduced me to her neighbors as well,” Linda said.

“We've all been friends ever since,” Sam said. She'd been pretty quiet through this conversation up until this point. She was about to say something else, but the sound of the door opening caught our attention. Dad and Uncle Robert walked inside with glum looks on their faces.

“You couldn't get it to start?” Grandma asked.

“We tried everything we could think of, but nothing worked,” Dad sighed. “We're going to have to get a new one.”

“Oh dear. I don't think I can afford a new one,” Grandma sighed.

“Jeff and I were going to make a trip out to Costco, and pick up a new one,” Uncle Robert said.

“Oh, you don't have to-” Grandma said, but Dad interrupted.

“Mom, we're not going to let you freeze during the winter if the power goes out. We're getting you a new one,” He insisted, in his I've-made-up-my-mind-and-you're-not-going-to-change-it voice.

“That's very sweet of you,” Grandma said, with a smile. “Thank you both.”

“Before we do that though. I'm going to get lunch out,” Uncle Robert said. All of us perked right up when he said that. He opened the refrigerator, and pulled out a few containers of KFC grilled chicken, mashed potatoes with gravy, and coleslaw.

“Yum yum,” Sam said. My Uncle had also picked up some plastic plates, and silverware, so as not to dirty up any dishes. We did have to reheat the chicken, potatoes, and gravy in the microwave, but that was okay. I'm not one to so “no” to free food.

Once everything was heated accordingly, I grabbed a plated, and loaded it with my desired amount of food. Uncle Robert was nice enough to make a plate for Grandma while Dad just waited for everyone else to finish before he got his food.

“So, what have you all been talking about?” Dad asked.

“Well, Linda told Grandma how we met,” I said, and then took another bite of chicken.

“When she broke your record?” Dad guessed, as he took a bite of coleslaw.

“Uh huh,” Linda said, with a grin.

Once lunch was over, we stuffed our plates, the chicken bones, and the small containers into the larger one that held the chicken. Uncle Robert then put that container into a plastic bag, and tied the handles together.

“Well, we'd better get going here. We don't want to be caught in rush hour traffic,” Uncle Robert stated, with the trash in hand.

“Indeed not,” Grandma said.

“We'll be back as soon as we can,” Dad said.

“i need to put this in the jeep first though,” Uncle Robert told him, motioning at the trash bag. Dad nodded at him.

“Drive safe you two,” Grandma said, and both guys walked out to Dad's truck. Well, this was a bit annoying. Those generators aren't cheap, but Dad and Uncle Robert both make enough money that the cost wouldn't be too steep.

As Dad and Uncle Robert left, Linda looked over at my Grandmother, and then back over to my Uncle as he was getting into the truck. She then shook her head, and smirked.

“What's funny?” I asked her.

“It's just,” She started. “I just find it so funny that she's his Mum, and yet he's twice her size,” She said. Grandma and I both chuckled.

“You usual don't think of people like Robert as being born do you,” Grandma said. We all kinda nodded our agreement. “He get's it from his father. Bill was very tall.”

“Where is he now?” Linda asked. Grandma sighed.

“Oh, he past away a long time ago,” She said. Linda now had a glum look on her face.

“Oh, I'm sorry,” She said.

“It's alright dear,” Grandma said. “By the way, would you girls like some ice cream?” She then asked.

“Yes please,” We all said. Grandma then got down a few bowls.

“Bill managed to survive the Vietnam war, but Cancer finally took him,” Grandma said, as she then pulled out some vanilla ice cream.

“How did Katie's Dad and Uncle take it?” Linda asked.

“They were still babies when it happened,” Grandma said. “With all the stories I told them about their Father, I wasn't too surprised when they told me that they wanted to join the military as well,” She then explained. Linda then turned to me.

“Kate, your family seems to have a lot of Military background,” She stated. Sam, who was looking at texts during this time, finally spoke.

“Yeah she does,” She said. I just smiled.

“And you can count me in as well,” Grandma said. “I was raised as an Army Brat across several military bases. It was near the end of the Vietnam War that Bill and I met.”

“And the rest is pretty much history from there,” I said.

* * * *

I don't remember what we talked about after that. All I know is that a good two hours had passed, before Uncle Robert and Dad returned back.

“They're back,” Sam said, as she put her phone way.

Part 8: In this part, Katie comes last, but still wins.

----Katie----

We all went outside to see Uncle Robert and Dad pulling the box that the generator was in out of the flatbed of the truck.

“You need any help with that?” I asked.

“Nah, we got it,” Uncle Robert said. He and Dad opened the box, and pulled the generator out. It had a set of wheels for easy transportation. While Dad pushed it down the path by the house, Uncle Robert took out the user's manual, and skimmed through it a bit as we all walked around to the back yard.

Grandma's back yard was just as colorful as the front. She had a few exotic trees dotting the edges of a pond with goldfish. A large shed which may have been a small stable at one point was resting a few feet from the back porch of the house. The shed looked as though it had seen better days, but it still seemed sturdy enough. Various types of lawn and gardening equipment were scattered around it.

While Dad and Uncle Robert set up the generator in the shed, My friends and I had our attention elsewhere.

“Your daffodils are looking splendid,” Sam complimented.

“Oh yes, this has been a good year for them,” Grandma said. I walked over to one of the nearby Apple Trees, and helped myself to one.

“Hey Linda! Catch!” I called, and then tossed her one. Sam looked over to me, and held her hand up ready to catch one as well.

“Actually, hold on a minute,” Grandma said, and went back inside for a moment. When she came back out, she was carrying a large paper bag. “Why don't you all pick a bunch, and take them home with you,” She then suggested.

“Oh, are you sure?” Linda asked.

“I won't be able to eat them all before the Summer's done, and I'd rather see them put to good use then just fall to the ground dead,” Grandma pointed out. It made perfect sense.

While Linda, Sam, and I filled the bag, Grandma went over to the shed to see how things were looking with the generator.

“Your Grandmother is wonderful,” Linda said. I smiled at her.

“She's pretty much everyone's Grandmother,” I said.

Between all three of us, we filled the bag pretty quickly. We did have to filter out a few bad ones, but the majority of them were still good. It wasn't long before Grandma returned to us.

“How's it going with Laurel and Hardy over there?” I asked her. Grandma snickered.

“They're still working with the wires,” She answered. “By the way, would you kids be willing to help me with something while they're setting the generator up?” She then asked.

“Yeah, sure,” I said.

“Absolutely,” Sam chirped.

“Of course,” Linda chimed in. Grandma lead us around the large shed over to a smaller one set up close by. This one had a tarp like covering, and was used to house her lawn mower. When she unzipped the door we noticed the problem.

The shed was held in place by three lengths of rope tied to cement deck blocks on either side. The ropes had become a bit loose, and needed to be tightened.

“As you can see the Mower shed is held in place by those blocks, but the wind was rather rough out here a few days ago, and the ropes have slacked,” Grandma explained. “I was wondering if you three could please tighten them for me,” She then requested.

“Hey Mom!” Dad then called.

“Please excuse me for a moment,” Grandma then said. As she left my friends and I all grinned at each other.

“Last one to finish gets tied up on the way back home?” Sam asked, with a smirk.

“You're on,” I stated.

“I'm game. Let's do this,” Linda said. Sam carefully set the bag of apples on the ground. All three of us then rushed over to the shed, and selected a piece of rope to work on.

I took the set in back while Lucy took the one in the middle, and Linda got the set right up front. Untying the knot was easy enough. With all the practice we had gotten from tying each other up over the summer, this was child's play.

I was in the lead for the moment, I knew that all I had to do was tighten one side. The problem was when I pulled the rope down, the knot on the other block came undone. Now I had to retie it. We all kinda froze once we saw it.

“Oh, that sucks,” Sam said.

“Kate, we'll let you retie that one first before we continue,” Linda said, and then looked at Sam. “Or, at least, I will.”

“Nah, I'll wait too,” Sam said. I smiled at them. While I appreciated them being good sports, I had something else on my mind.

“It's alright, I'll take the loss,” I said. The truth is, I kinda wanted this. My friends both nodded, and finished their respective jobs while I did the same.

Once we were done, Sam reclaimed the apples, and we walked then around the big shed again to where Dad and Uncle Robert were explaining how to operate her new generator. It was a lot of technical stuff that I wasn't really paying attention too. With their work complete, it was time for us to leave.

“Don't forget these,” Grandma said. She had separated the apples into four smaller bags for us.

“Oh, right, thanks,” I said, and gave her a hug. Sam was next, and Linda followed right behind her.

“It was nice meeting you Linda,” Grandma said.

“It was nice meeting you too,” Linda said back.

“Don't be a stranger,” Grandma then requested. She then turned to Dad and Uncle Robert. “Drive safe you two,” She said, as they both got a hug.

“Awww, you took all the fun out if it,” Uncle Robert complained, and we all chuckled.

We said our good-byes, and got into our respective vehicles. I was riding shotgun while Sam and Linda were in back again. Uncle Robert was the first to drive away. We followed a few minutes after, as Dad was still talking with Grandma about something. I don't know what it was about, but it was likely just chit-chat. Once he got in the truck, it was time for me to adhere to my end of the bet.

“Dad, do you have any duct tape, rope, or something like that in here?” I asked. Dad blinked at me for a second.

“Yeah, I have duct tape in the glove compartment,” He answered. “Why?”

“She lost a bet,” Sam answered.

“Uh huh,” He said, in a tone that stated he knew what was going on. I opened the glove compartment, and pulled the tape out. I then turned to my friends with a smile.

“Okay, you two are going to do Rock-Paper-Scissors, and the best two out of three wins. The winner gets to tie me up. The loser gets tied up with me,” I stated. “How does that sound?”

“I like it,” Linda said, and turned to face Sam. Sam won the first round with one move. Linda won round two with three moves. The last round went ten turns until Sam finally won.

“Dammit,” Linda groaned, but also laughing. I gave Sam the tape, and let her do her work. I put my hands behind me, and offered them to her. Not the easiest thing to do in a vehicle I might add. I soon felt that wonderful sensation of tape winding around my wrists. Sam only went a few times before calling it good.

I have to say that being tied up this way in a moving vehicle wasn't the most comfortable thing, but it was kinda fun.

“Do you want me to tape your mouth too?” Sam asked. “I know I want too.”

“With it clearly visible through these windows?” I questioned.

“She's got a point,” Dad said. My friends nodded in agreement. That may not go over very well if the wrong person happened to look at the wrong time.

With my bonds done, it was Linda's turn. She got the same treatment as I did. But did we just sit there with our hands tied behind us the whole time? Of course not. Watching Linda struggle to play her Pokémon game with Lucy like this was highly entertaining.

“Oh no, I pushed the wrong thing,” She said, and accidentally attacked Lucy's Aegislash.

“Thanks for activating my weakness policy,” Lucy snorted.

“Well, as long as some good came out of it,” Linda said with a shrug. That pretty much sums up Saturday. We saw Lucy again before the day was done. She came in second place which is pretty good in my book. With that said, all that leaves is Sunday. The day just before school starts up again.

Author's Note: Sorry for the delay everyone. I recently got Hyrule Warriors Legends for the 3ds, and I've been playing that.

Part 9: In this part, our heroes plan a party, and Linda uses Katie as a guinea pig.

----Katie----

Saturday: 8:00 pm

Even though I said I was going to talk about Sunday, I left out a small detail that happened Saturday evening during game night. We were picking up where we left off on Baldur's Gate, and we were waiting for Megan to join us.

“While we're waiting for Megan, Mum wanted me mention something,” Linda said, breaking the silence. “She wanted to-oh, I guess she's going to say it,” She then said. Looking over at her through the web cam, I saw that her Mother was in the room. Linda unplugged her headset, and turn on her regular microphone.

“Hello everyone,” Mrs. Trotter greeted.

“Hey Debra, What's up?” Uncle Robert asked. She got roughly the same greeting from the rest of us.

“I just wanted to let you all know that Ted and I were thinking of hosting a pool party tomorrow to end the summer holidays if you're all able to come over,” She said. I perked up instantly when I heard that. It sounded like a great final salute to this summer.

“That sounds fun,” My Dad said. (He and I almost share the same mind after all.) He was sitting in a chair behind me, and off to my right so he could watch us play, and deliver feedback if necessary.

“I do realize that this is very short notice, but Ted only brought it up a few hours ago,” Mrs. Trotter explained.

“I didn't have anything important planned, but it's Dad's call,” I said, turning to face him. He nodded his head yes. “Yeah, we can come over,” I said.

Over the next few minutes, Linda and her Mother got similar responses from my friends and their parents as well. It looked like we were on.

“I have church tomorrow, along with a few errands to run, but I'll be over once their taken care of,” Uncle Robert said.

“You don't strike me as a church goer,” Sam stated.

“I go every Sunday,” Uncle Robert told her.

“You learn something new every day,” Lucy said. We then heard a new voice.

“What time should we arrive?” The unmistakable German accent gave away the speaker's identity as Lucy's Father.

“Any time after twelve will be perfect,” Mrs. Trotter said.

“Hey Mom!” Sam called, as she turned away from her camera. “Any time after twelve will do!” She hollered, before turning her attention back to us.

“We'll look foreword to seeing you all tomorrow,” Mrs. Trotter said, and then left the room. Linda then turned off her microphone, and plugged her headset back in.

“Right then,” She said, with a perky smile. “Oh, Megan's here now,” She then stated, and added her to the call.

“Hello again everyone,” Megan greeted. We all said our hellos, and started up the game.

* * * *
Now that I've cleared that up, I can talk about Sunday...

Sunday, 1:00 pm...

Well. This was it. The last day before school started up again. This summer truly was something else. As I looked at myself in the mirror I reflected on a lot that had happened. From the failed robbery, to playing tie ups with friends, to Linda sharing her experience, and also the kidnapping. (We can't forget that now can we.) Yes, we had a lot of ups and downs over these last few months. (My side was still complaining at me occasionally from one of those downs.)

All I could think was that I wanted to make the most of this day.

“Katie! Are you all set?” Dad called. I then snapped back to reality.

“Oh, yeah, I'll be right down,” I called back. Dad and I just finished lunch, and were heading out a bit earlier then Sam or Lucy.

There wasn't a cloud in sight, so the weather was perfect for swimming. I had on a navy blue bikini swimsuit, along with a white beach cardigan, a pair of blue track shorts, and a pair of flip flops on my feet. (Boy did I look hot...eh hem, sorry.) I also had a small gym bag filled with a few essentials: Sunscreen, a towel, a change of clothes, my 3ds, etc.

I went down stairs to find Dad waiting for me at the front door. He was dressed in a similar manner. He had on a white T shirt, and a pair of cargo shorts. He also had a backpack with him that was likely carrying similar gear. We then got in the truck, and drove to Linda's house.

Dad drove almost to the end of the driveway, and parked the truck. I got out with my bag in hand, and walked up to the front door. I rang the door bell, and waited. A few seconds later, the door was opened by Linda, and when I saw what she was wearing, my eyes almost bugged out.

“Oh my stars!” I exclaimed, as she laughed. Linda was dressed in a thin tan skirt that reached her knees. The skirt was paired with a very vibrantly colored Hawaiian shirt that depicted the sun setting over a tropical beach.

“I thought it fit the theme of the day,” She said.

“It certainly does,” I said, and we gave each other a quick hug.

“My my, aren't we colorful today,” Dad stated, as he ascended the stairs to the porch, and finally got a look at Linda's outfit. “How are ya Linda?”

“I'm doing great Mr. Narrows,” She said, and with that we walked inside. We were soon greeted by Linda's Mother.

"Hello Jeffery, and you too Kaitlin," She greeted.

“Hey Debra, how are you?” Dad greeted back, and they both shook hands.

“I'm doing splendid,” She said, with a smile. Linda's mother then addressed me. “It's good to see you doing well Kaitlin,” She told me, and gave me a hug. “How's your ribs doing?” She then asked. I looked down at my side briefly.

“The bruise is fading,” I said. Mrs. Trotter nodded her head.

“That's good,” She said, and then turned to Dad while I turned back to Linda.

“Would you like to set your bag in my room?” She offered.

“Yeah, sure,” I said, and we both went upstairs. She opened the door to her room, and allowed me inside. I then set my bag down by her bed, and removed my sandals from my feet. “So Linda, where's you Dad at?” I asked.

“He's out shopping for the party,” Linda answered. “By the way Kate, are you up for an experiment?” She then asked me. I casually put my hands behind my back.

“What kind of experiment?” I asked back.

“The kind that involves your hands staying right where they are,” Linda said, with a smirk. I just grinned back.

“Oh, I like where this is going,” I said. Linda opened her closet, and opened a small chest sitting on the floor. She then pulled out a very long piece of rope. It looked to be at least eighty feet long.

“Um, isn't that a bit...much?” I asked. Linda looked at me, and I saw her lip curl.

“Trust me, We're going to go through this really fast,” She insisted. I just shrugged. She clearly knew what she was doing, so I didn't question it any further. She then kinda eyed me. “I think you'd look better in this tie without the cardigan personally,” She said.

“Oh, alright,” I said, with a shrug. I took my cardigan off, and hung it nicely over one of her bed posts. Now it was just me, my bikini top, and my shorts. I then put my hands behind me again.

Linda found the center of the rope, and then walked around behind me to begin. The first thing she did was reposition my arms so that my left forearm was on top of my right forearm forming a square shape.

“Okay, now you may want tuck your thumbs away, as gripping your arm can cause some issues later,” She explained. I then did as she had requested. I soon felt the rope coiling around my arms. Unlike the other ties from before, this one seemed rather...loose in comparison.

“It seems rather loose Linda,” I mentioned.

“This part is supposed to be kinda loose,” She said. This new tie had me intrigued already. My arms were in a slightly new position. The tie around them was also meant to be loose. I could only guess what the rest of it would be like. I could feel my heart begin to beat a bit faster with excitement.

I don't know what all Linda was doing back there, as I couldn't really watch. I very clearly saw her bringing the rope over my left shoulder however. She crossed the rope in between my breasts, and back around my right side behind my back. She did the same thing again from my left side. She crossed the rope in between my breasts again, and over my right shoulder.

With that part complete, she started doing more tying behind me that I couldn't see. It took her about a minute or so before she did something that I could see again. She ran the rope around me at just above elbow height to hold my arms in place.

“Is this the part that keeps me from escaping?” I asked, breaking the silence.

“Yep,” Linda said. She then tied it off, and came back around in front of me. “Well, what do you think?” She then asked. I wiggled around in my new bonds to test them out. The loop around my wrists was loose enough that I could rotate my arms if I needed to, but with the rope surrounding me, I wasn't getting loose on my own.

“This is actually really neat,” I chimed. “What's it called?”

“That is called a Kimono Tie,” Linda explained.

Part 10: In this part, Sam, Lucy, and their respective families arrive.

----Katie----

“How did you learn to do this?” I asked. “Could I look at myself in a mirror?”

“Yeah, sure,” Linda said, and walked over to her dresser. She pulled a hand mirror out of one of the drawers, and motioned for me to follow her. She opened a door that lead straight into a bathroom. I stood in front of the mirror, and Linda stood behind me with the hand mirror held up so I could see the bindings.

“Holy cow,” I said when I saw the elaborate bindings behind me. I turned around to face her, and she had a big smile on her face. “Again, how did you do this?” I asked.

“You can thank Megan for that,” Linda explained, as we walked back into her bedroom. “She and I have done it a few times, and she reminded me of it yesterday after you left the skype call.”

“No kidding,” I said, still amazed. I was loving this. It was elaborate and decorative, but still had that touch of simplicity to it that I loved.

“I also found a video on youtube that was able to give me a refresher course on how to do it,” Linda stated.

“Can I see it?” I asked.

“Absolutely,” She chirped, and got onto her computer. “However, I must insist that you don't talk over the instructor,” She added, in that tone of “dropping an obvious hint.” A hint that I caught instantly.

“Well, then I guess you'll just have to gag me,” I chimed, with a smile. Linda grinned back, and went back to her closet. She opened another drawer, and pulled out a few bandanas.

“Right then, pick your favorite color,” She instructed.

“The navy blue one would match my outfit,” I said. I then blinked, and looked down at myself. “Or rather, the lack there of,” I added. This made us both chuckle.

Linda put her bandanas back except for the navy one. She tied a loose knot in it, and then held it up to my face. I eagerly opened my mouth to receive my gag, and the knot was pushed inside. (Which was quite soft and cushy I might add.) Linda then brought the two tails around behind my head, and knotted them together. She was also nice enough to tie them under my hair.

“Thnnk yyh frr tnngg ht undrr mh hhrr,” I said, and I giggled a bit. I had almost forgotten how much fun talking into a gag was.

“Under your hair?” Linda asked, looking for conformation. I nodded yes. “Your welcome," She said. She then opened up youtube on her computer, and clicked on the video. Now, I'm not going to talk about all the steps, so I'll refer you to the video here, and you can watch it...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pspNwSv3WYw

“Ivv ssnn thtt guh bbffrr,” I said, once the video ended.

“You've seen him before?” Linda asked, and I nodded yes again. We then heard the door open, and we turned to see Linda's Mother greet us.

“Girls I just-oh...umm,” She said, when she saw the sight before her. “Am I...interrupting something?”

“Wh wwrr jsht nnjjynng shmm bnndnng ttmm,” I said, as I smiled through my gag. This made Mrs. Trotter grin, and shake her head. Her reaction made Linda laugh.

“Just enjoying some bonding time?” Mrs. Trotter asked me. I nodded yes, and giggled a bit. “Well, I just wanted to let you know that your Father is home now, and that Lucy and Sam are on their way over,” Mrs. Trotter stated.

“Alright, we'll be down shortly,” Linda told her mother. “I just need a few minutes to unravel my test subject here.”

“Good grief,” Mrs. Trotter sighed, as she left the room. Linda and I both just laughed.

“Come on, let's get you untied,” Linda said. I nodded, and turned around so that Linda could untie me.

It actually took Linda quite a few minutes to untie me, as their were a lot more steps involved then any of the other ties we had done before. I still think the simple hands tied behind my back is my favorite, but this was a very nice change of pace. I'd certainly need to remember this one.

“Oh shoot!” Linda moaned. I looked at her.

“What? What is it?” I asked.

“I should have taken a picture,” She complained. This made us both laugh again.

“Oh, I'll let you tie me up again later,” I said, reassuringly.

I put my cardigan back on, and we both headed down stairs to see Linda's father walking inside with a few bags of groceries. My Dad wasn't too far behind. They were both talking about...I'm gonna guess typical guy stuff. I wasn't really paying attention.

“Is there anything else?” Linda asked.

“Just a few more bags,” Mr. Trotter said. “And hello Kaitlin,” He added.

“Hello Mr. Trotter,” I greeted back. Linda and I went outside to one of the cars, and pulled out the remaining groceries. We then walked back inside, and set them on the kitchen counter.

“So Kaitlin, how've you been holding up?” Mr. Trotter asked me, as he was putting various fruits and veggies into the fridge.

“I'm doing alright,” I said.

After the groceries were put away, Mr. Trotter, and my Dad, adjourned to the backyard to get the pool ready while we waited for Sam's and Lucy's families to arrive. We all kinda chit-chatted back and forth until the doorbell rang again. Linda walked over to the door, and opened it to reveal Sam, and her two sisters Amy and Lauren.

Amy and Lauren are twins and will be turning thirteen come the middle of September. They are both identical with the exception that Lauren's hair is closer to my hair length while Amy prefers hers to be a little shorter. They were both dressed for swimming in matching black swimsuit tops, and red shorts.

“What's the password?” Linda joked, once she opened the door.

“We are poor, lost, circus performers, and need a place to stay,” Sam responded, which got a laugh from the rest of us. She was dressed in a pair of short shorts, and a T-shirt with the Final Fantasy VII Logo on it.

“Good enough for me,” Linda said, with a grin, and let them inside. They were soon followed by their parents. I think I mentioned Sam's Mother before. She's very tall. Almost as tall as my Dad. Her father on the other hand was the exact opposite. Lucy stands just barely over five feet tall, and Mr. Parker is actually a bit shorter then her. It comes in handy though given his profession as a mechanic.

“Hello Everyone,” Mrs. Trotter greeted. Sam's family greeted her accordingly as well, and then Sam turned her attention to Linda and me.

“Hi Linda, Hi Katie,” Sam greeted.

“Hey Sam,” I chirped.

“Lucy's Family is right behind us,” Lauren pointed out. Linda then nodded.

“Is there a place we should put our stuff Linda?” Sam asked.

“Yeah, you can put um in my room,” Linda answered, and the five of us went upstairs.

Once Sam and her sisters had deposited their backpacks, we then went back down to join Mrs. Trotter who was now greeting Mr. Wolff.

“Debra, how are you?” He greeted.

“I'm doing splendid Albert,” Mrs. Trotter stated. He was soon followed by Lucy, Darren, and their Mother. Lucy was dressed in a leotard like swimsuit, and had a pair of denim shorts, and an unbuttoned white blouse over it with Sandals on her feet. Well...they were on her feet. She deposited them on the shoe rack next to the door.

Darren was already wearing his swim trunks, along with a T-shirt that would make my Uncle Proud. It reads: Attempting to care. Please wait. With a picture of a loading screen underneath it.

“Hey Lucy,” Linda greeted, and turned to her brother. “Hi Darren.”

“How you doing Linda?” Darren greeted.

“I'm doing good,” Linda said. The others greeted each other in the same way, and that's when Mr. Wolff turned to me.

“How's your side holding up Katie?” He asked.

“It's healing,” I sighed.

“That's good,” Mr. Wolff said back.

“I'm guessing that Ted and Jeff are out back?” Mrs. Wolff guessed.

“We were out back,” My Dad corrected, now entering the room along with Mr. Trotter who greeted the new arrivals.

Part 11: In this part, everyone remembers what is most important.

Note from Kate: Just letting people know that this one's kinda long, so you may want a snack, and a drink.

----Yeah, I'm still talking---

“The pool's all set, so jump in when ever you're ready,” Mr. Trotter announced. My friends and I all looked at each other with wide smiles, and then went up stairs. The first thing I did was apply some sunscreen to myself.

“Oh shoot,” Lauren groaned.

“What's wrong?” I asked her. She, and her two sisters were sharing a bag.

“We forgot sunscreen,” Sam answered.

“You can use mine,” I said, and tossed them the can.

“Thanks Katie,” Sam said, and with that Sam, and her sisters began applying it to each other. Lucy was doing the same as well. Linda took off her shirt and skirt to reveal a marbled leotard style swimsuit underneath. I pulled out a towel from my bag, and draped it over my shoulder. We were all set. It was pool time.

We walked out to Linda's backyard which was large to put it mildly. It had a few rolling hills with evergreen trees surrounding the outside. A few apple trees dotted the field as well. To our left was a very large pool that had a foothills theme to it. Bushes lined the path leading to it, and a small water slide was concealed within a rock cliff at the far edge of the pool.

The pool itself had everything a pool needed. It was shallow at one end, and deep at the other. At the deep end a diving board was present. A bunch of pool lounge chairs, and a couple tables were sitting a safe distance from the edge as well.

I took off my cardigan along with my shorts, and set them, along with my towel on one of the loungers. It was now or never, I decided to jump in. The water greeted me in a rather chilly manner.

“Oh! That's brisk!” I yelped, while Linda decided to step in from the shallow end. Sam and her sisters followed my example, and jumped straight in as well. Lucy was nowhere to be seen however. That was until we saw her pop out from the water slide.

“Wow that's cold!” She yelled, once she bobbed to the surface.

It wasn't long before the rest of the group joined us. Darren was the next in, and finally all of our parents. Yes, even my Dad.

“Brace yourselves people!” Dad stated, and removed his T-shirt. As you can imagine, those scars on his chest sparked quite a reaction.

“Holy cow!” Mr. Parker cried.

“How did you get those?” Amy asked, completely awestruck at the grim sight before her.

“That is something I'd rather not talk about right now Amy,” Dad insisted. Amy just shrugged, and left it at that.

Soon the pool was bustling with activity from all over. Lucy, and the twins were having fun with a beach ball. Linda was doing a breath holding contest with my Dad. (Spoilers: She had no chance.) Sam and I however were competing on the diving board with Linda's Mother serving as the judge.

“Little rough on the landing there Kaitlin, but the rest was quite lovely,” Mrs. Trotter stated. I had performed a front full twist dive, and according to Mrs. Trotter, it needed some work.

“I'm still working on that one,” I said, as I then turned to watch Sam have a another go. She did a front flip into a very graceful landing.

“That was good Sam,” I told her, once she surfaced. “You should try out for the team this year,” I then suggested. Sam looked at me, and nodded.

“You know, I might give it a shot this year,” She stated, which earned her a smile from both Mrs. Trotter and me.

* * * *

That's pretty much how we spent the next two hours. Dad and I had our own breath holding challenge as well, and even though he won, I still held my own pretty well. (Ha ha, get it? Held my own?...I know, that was bad.)

“Wow, that was about three minutes,” Lucy said, as she was watching at the time. In spite of the cheery sounds of water and fun we were having, the unmistakable rumble of a Harley Davidson Motorcycle soon roared over the noise. Uncle Robert had arrived. Mr. Trotter exited the pool, dried himself off, put his T-shirt back on, and stepped back into the house to greet his new guest.

Within about ten minutes, My gigantic Uncle had joined us outside, although he didn't look like he was going to be joining us in the pool. He had taken off his biker leathers, but was still dressed in blue jeans, and a white t-shirt. It was what was written on the T-shirt that had all of us laughing.

“Oh Good Grief!” Mr. Parker yelled, while shaking his head with a smirk on his face.

“Gunny, that is awesome!” Darren praised.

“I always wear this to church to mess with the pastors,” My Uncle stated proudly. The phrase on his shirt read as follows: “I really am an atheist. I swear to God.”

My Uncle wasn't alone either. There were two more people with him. The first was Officer Peterson on a day off I guess. The other was his wife.

“Hey Dale, Hi Sheryl,” Dad greeted to the Petersons. He then got out of the pool so they could shake hands. My Dad, My Uncle, Mr. Trotter, and the petersons then sat down at a nearby table to chat.

“Hold that thought a second Jeff,” Mr. Peterson told my Dad. “Hey Katie?!” He then called. I turned to face him. “How's your side doing?” He asked.

“The bruise is fading!” I called back, and then went back to having fun.

“Hey Kate,” Linda said, as she swam up to me. “How about a little crawl stroke race from one end to the other?” She suggested. I eyed her.

“The stakes?” I asked. She looked around, and then whispered into my ear.

“If I win, then I get to tie you up in your swimsuit tomorrow after school, and take a picture of it,” She said. My smile got wider with each word she said.

“And if I win?” I asked.

“Then you can do the same to me,” She said.

“You're on,” I said, and we both swam to the far end of the pool.

“Hey Dad, can you give us a countdown?!” Linda called. All the guys turned their attention to the pool. Everyone else in the pool knew something was about to go down, and gave us some room. Mr. Trotter smiled at us.

“5...4...-” He started.

“321!” My Uncle interrupted. It didn't matter to us though. The second we heard the number one shouted, we took off in a crawl stroke. I swam for all I was worth, but by the end,

“Linda beat you by about a body length there Kate!” Mr. Trotter hollered. He sounded very proud of his daughter, as well he should be.

Linda definitely had me beat on those short bursts of speed. I looked over at Linda who shrugged with a grin on her face. I wasn't upset though. I knew I had something fun to look forward to after school tomorrow. I then saw my Dad slip my Uncle a one dollar bill with a disgruntled look on his face while my Uncle had a sly grin on his.

“Pff, men,” I said to Linda, who just chuckled.

“Hold on a sec girls!” My Dad called. We both looked at him. “Let's see that again, but this time you do four laps,” He then suggested. Linda and I looked at each other.

“Okay,” We both said. We took our positions again, and within the five count, we were off again. Now this is where the big difference between Linda and me shows. Linda has great speed, but only over short distances. She doesn't have the lasting power that I have. Because this race was much longer, I won it pretty convincingly. Once Linda popped up, I just waved at her from the side of the pool.

“Your stamina is clearly better then mine,” Linda complimented.

“I need it for my martial arts,” I said.

“True,” Linda then responded.

“It's kinda the sprinter versus marathon runner thing,” Lucy said.

“That's actually a good way to put it,” Mr. Peterson stated to her.

* * * *

A few more hours had passed, and eventually it was time to exit the pool. The party wasn't over. It's just not a good idea to eat dinner while swimming. Mr. Trotter was standing at the grill on the back porch with the other guys close by having their guy talks. I got out of the pool, and dried myself off. I then slipped my cardigan back on.

My friends soon joined me in a similar fashion. They dried off, and put on their changes of clothes. We then helped ourselves to some food. There was bratwurst, burgers, corn-on-the-cob from the grill, and several other things available. After I filled my plate, I pulled out a can of lemonade from the nearby cooler.

“Oh, could I have everyone’s attention please!” Mr. Trotter announced. We all the turned to face him. “I'd like to propose a toast,” He stated. He then cleared his throat, and held up his can of Pepsi. “To friends and family!” He said firmly. We all then held up our own drinks respectively.

“To friends, and family!” We repeated. This truly was a special summer indeed. It had it's ups and downs, but it brought us all together like never before. Next up was the first day of school tomorrow.

Monday: 8:30 am.

“Katie, are you ready!?” Dad called.

“Almost!” I called back. Well, it was time for my first day back at school. I had my backpack all packed with my school gear. I was dressed according to the new dress code with a white polo shirt tucked into a pair of blue jeans. I also had on a biker chick's jacket, and had just took hold of my helmet when Dad called. Oh yeah, I was arriving for my first day in style.

With my backpack over my shoulders, I went down stairs to find Dad fully dressed in similar gear.

“Okay, let's go,” Dad said, with a smile. We both walked over to the garage. Now, I didn't mention this before, but my Dad also owns a Harley Davidson Motorcycle. Unlike my Uncle's bike however, this one had two seats.

Dad opened up the garage door, and rolled the bike out into the driveway. He then closed the door once the Bike was out. We both then climbed on board. Dad fired up the motor, and we were off.

Within about ten minutes we came up to the school grounds. Many parents were dropping their kids off. Some came on buses, but all eyes turned once they heard that Harley rumbling into the pick up zone. Some of the people who might have known me kinda shook their heads, as if they expected something like this. There were a few new people as well who looked kind of awestruck.

I got off the bike with my bag in hand, and gave Dad a quick two-finger salute. He gave me one in return, and then rode off to work. (He had to go in early today.)

I took my helmet off, and shook my hair out. I then looked ahead of me to see Linda. Linda was dressed in a pleated knee length khaki skirt, and a red oxford shirt with short sleeves. She was standing with her arms folded, and her eyes narrowed.

“What?” I asked.

“You sure know how to make an entrance,” She complimented, but I could hear a bit of spite in her voice.

“Jealous?” I asked, tempting that spite. Linda's scowl turned into a smirk.

“Maybe just a bit,” She said, and we both giggled.

We both entered the school building, and headed for our lockers where we saw Lucy putting her coat away. She was dressed similar to Linda with a pair of gray leggings with a matching skirt, and a blue oxford shirt with long sleeves.

“Oh boy,” she said, when she saw me. “So that explains the Harley I heard outside.”

“I just wanted to make a good first impression,” I said, innocently.

“I think you succeeded,” Lucy said. I then opened up my locker, and hung up my jacket along with my helmet. I then pulled a hair tie out from my jeans pocket, and put my hair into a ponytail.

“Well, well, the Show-Off makes a grand entrance again,” A girls voice from behind me snarled. I turned to around, and was face to face with Roslyn and her boyfriend, Josh. They were both made for each other. Both of them thought they owned whatever building they were in. Both of them rely on their parents having a lot of money, and they both have equally punchable faces. They were also both dressed in the schools former uniforms.

“What do want?” I snarled back. Roslyn looked over at Lucy, who kinda backed up a bit with a worried look on her face. Roslyn smirked, and then looked back at me.

“I just wanted to see how you were doing,” She said. “I heard you got roughed up pretty bad a few weeks ago.” It didn't surprise me that she knew about this, as it was all over the news.

“That's something you and I are not going to discuss,” I stated flatly.

“The point is, you are not as invincible as everyone here thinks you are,” Josh said, with a sneer.

“You two have no idea what she or I went through, so just drop it now,” Linda demanded.

“And besides, I'm still invincible enough to beat the snot out of both of you. Now get lost,” I growled. Roslyn smirked at us.

“It's clearly obvious that this conversation is a waste of time,” She said. “Come on Josh. We have more important things to do. Don't we.”

“Indeed,” Josh said, and then walked away. Lucy said something to them as they walked away, but as it was in German, I didn't know what it was. They both looked at her, shrugged, and then continued to walk away.

“Alright, what did you say?” Linda asked. Lucy looked around, as if hoping no one was listening.

“I told them: Don't forget protection,” She said. Linda's jaw dropped, and she put her hands to her mouth in shock. As for me, I almost felt my eyes bug out of their sockets.

“Oh my...wow,” I said, in shock. Yep, great start to a new school year.
