I wanted to update the lovely readers. I was away for a while, but now I am back! Here's your part of the story!
MONDAY
Monday came around the next day, and Jack headed to school as usual. However, something didn't feel right. His passenger seat was empty. Every few minutes, he would look over to it, concerned that Alice wasn't saying anything. Each time he saw just an empty chair. It killed him inside to think that his little sister was being cooped up in probably a dingy basement by some phycho who had a thing for little girls. He shuttered at the thought.Â
At the secure location in which Alice was being held, she laid on the ground, still attached to the chair. During the night, she had tried to break the chair by falling on it. All that had caused was a bruise that looked like a kidney bean to appear on her shoulder. Alice looked off into the darkness of her blindfold, her eyes welled up with tears. She thought of all the memories she had had with Jack, and how she would never see him again.Â
Jack had just pulled up to Jefferson High and climbed out of his car. Though the sun shined as bright as ever, he felt like it was raining, and humidity was dragging himself down.
He walked into the building to be greeted by his football buddy, Gus. "Jack!" he yelled smacking Jack's back. "How's it going?" it was then that he saw the sadness in his friend's eyes. "What happened? Did Alice delete all the contacts in your phone again?" The thought of Alice made Jack's eyes water. The night that his parents had died, he had told his mom, "I will never let anything happen to Alice." That was the last thing he said to her, before she got into the car with his dad and left only to get on to the highway and get killed by a drunk driver. Jack walked swiftly to first period without a word to Gus.Â
The door to the dark room opened, creaking loudly. The kidnapper, quiet on his feet, walled up to Alice. "Naughty naughty. Trying to escape again? I am suprised in you Alice. Well, why did you do it?" He asked. The kidnapper picked up her and the chair and set them right. He then ripped the duct tape off her mouth, causing more pain than she was expecting.Â
"I didn't do it to escape. I fidgeted in my sleep." Alice lied. Her brother always told her lies are completely justified in the appropriate times.Â
"Liar." with that, a firm slap came across her cheek. Â "Don't lie to me. That's another rule. Now I bet you are hungry. Are you?"
"Very. " Alice replied speedily. She had not eaten since yesterday morning and would do anything for food.
He then explained to her how it was going to happen. " I am going to untie you a bit. Then, I am going to retie you. You will eat and then it is right back to the chair. Understand?" his voice was stern and controlling, but by how hungry she was, anything would do.Â
And so, her body was untied from the chair and then retied into a hogtie position. She lied on her stomach and in front of her mouth was placed a bowl. Not that she could see it, for the blindfold was still in place. She began eating when she noticed what it was. It was chilli. It made perfect sense why her meal would be this. It had the protiens and vegetables needed to keep her healthy. However, she had been a vegetarian for the past 2 years. It was either this or nothing. Â Soon she finished and was retied to the chair.Â
On the other side of the state, Jack had just sat down in second period. His mind not wandering one bit from  Alice. As the teacher lectured about the Indian Removal Act, his phone vibrated silently in his pocket. He had a new picture message from Alice. He opened the phone and saw her tied to a chair. Her blonde  hair was all strewed and had mascara lines down her cheeks coming from a blindfold. Her head was down as though a rag doll. Â
"Dude. Dude!" some guy whispered from behind him tapping him on his shoulder. "Which site is THAT pic from?" he asked. Jack was disgusted that this kid even asked. That was his little sister he was talking about! He turned back to facing the teacher. From the corner of his eye, he noticed Gus staring but then he went back to his note taking. He was probably still angry about jack ignoring him earlier that morning. Â
Alice sat in her chair for a few hours. Her body seemed still but the gears in her mind were turning. How was she going to escape? The plan had to be secretive because during the days there was always someone there reading something. She could hear the pages flip every so often. When she was positive that her overseer wasn't paying attention, she would play with the ropes around her wrists. Possibly one of them may have freed up. None of the knots ever did.
After several hours, the shifts changed. The guy who was reading for the last few hours left and some kid younger took his place. "im sorry this happened to you. We just need to hold you here for a bit. Course, I don't run this show, I just act in it." the new overseer said. His voice was familiar but Alice couldn't name from where. She mumbled in her gag. "Whacha  say? Alright look. I am not supposed to do this, but what the hell. Just. Don't. Scream." He then tore the duct tape away from her mouth ever so gently. It was clear he did not want to hurt her. "Better?"
"very." Alice replied. She was ready for whatever punishment was coming. No punishment came. Two questions swirled around in her head. First, why was this man being so kind, and second, where had she heard his voice before?
"You'll make it out alive. He has no reason to kill you. I mean really you're just a game piece on his game board and he's playing against your brother. Jack is such a nice guy. Well, not that I know him or anything." He spat out.Â
" why me?" Alice asked. " I havent done anything wrong."Â
"Again alice, you are nothing but a game piece. See, the ring leader has a ton of money riding on this game. A $100,000. With jack out of the game, his team will need to forfeit. And bada bing bada boom. The ring leader will be 100,000$ richer. If he needs to kidnap some girl to get it, he will." Alice's mind was working like crazy trying to process this info. The ringleader didn't care one bit. Â She could do anything and it wouldn't change the future at all.Â
The next few hours just went by the same. A bit of chit chat here and there. He even spoon fed her the chili for dinner. Soon, he needed to leave. " well, little mouse, I have to leave, and you need to sleep. That also means I have to reapply the tape.Â
"if you must." Alice replied. She felt as safe as you can when you have been kidnapped and are being held against your will with this younger man. In fact, she kinda liked it. The whole tying up thing. No, she didn't like fearing for her life but she did like sitting tied to a chair with a kind boy watching here who had no intention in hurting her. She soon drifted off to sleep.Â
Jack on the other hand didn't sleep a wink all night. He didnt know what to do. He wanted to keep Alice safe but couldn't do it without getting her hurt. He was going to have to trust this kidnapper as much as he didn't want to.
