When I was about 7 or 8, I was often the guest at my friend Andrew's house. he was the same age, a bit taller and more muscular than me, because I was a skinny little shrimp. He had dirty blonde hair and light green eyes, and freckled especially in the summer. he had a goofy personality, and goofier glasses to match. We usually played at his house because I had a tiny dirty apartment just down the street from it, and he had the nicest, cleanest house I'd ever seen at the time, plus he had all the best toys. (I'd always thought his parents were rich, but looking back I realize they were upper middle class or so. I was just comparatively very poor.) Not to say I wasn't taken care of, I had lots of toys and some video games, they were just all from garage sales or given to us.
Anyway, one day when we were playing in his upstairs area (his room, the "play room" and the hallway in between) We began to play one of our usual games which always began with me saying "so, who do you wanna be?" then we both would pick a character from a movie, tv show, game, one of the obscure mangas he collected, or an original character, and basically act out a crossover fanfiction, (although we had never heard of those things at the time) making it up as we went along.
This was one of the many times he choose something out of the "Alien vs Predator" franchise which he was so obsessed with. the difference was, this time he chose to be a human soldier instead of a predator. Liking where he was going with the idea, I chose to be his fellow soldier and partner, and we set off killing the acid-bleeding aliens with our assault rifles. when we took the next natural step, and went after the queen alien, I decided it was time for a twist.
I pretended that I was suddenly grabbed and pulled into the ceiling by an alien.
"noooo I'll save you!" Andrew shouted and sputtered with his mouth, waving his hands back and forth as though he were holding an assault rifle.
"no! you can't shoot the alien in time because you might shoot me as it pulls me up!" I state
" how am I supposed to save you then!?" he exclaimed
"the alien queen had captured and cocooned me for an egg incubator" I said, using a word I only knew because of this franchise. I then explained the elaborate next step of the game, where he would have to sneak into the queen's chambers (his room) and save me without alerting the "sleeping aliens", which would be the "spytech" motion detector toys he had on his shelf. I set them up while he waited impatiently in the other room, and then I wrapped myself in his blanket as a cocoon, pretending to be knocked out.
"ready!" I called, and andrew tramped excitedly in, making his first mistake and setting off the motion detector i had placed at the bottom of the door frame. "awwwe shoot!" he said "what now?"
"your captured too!" I said, but he replied "gimme one more chance!" I let him, but I moved the motion sensor this time, turning the invisible tripwire to hit exactly where I expected him to step while trying to avoid the sensor. It didn't work. he looked before he stepped this time, peeking just his head through the door and locating the small black device so that he could carefully step over it.
He searched briefly in vain for the second one, but I had hidden it well. I started to make "mmmmph!" noises and wiggle, pretending to be anxious to be un-cocooned. Andrew came over to the bed and got up onto it, his fist clutching an imaginary knife with the intention of cutting me free. The second motion detector was perched at the foot of the bed however, pointing just along the edge where he had climbed up. "awwwe SHOOT" he said, this time with more enthusiasm.
"One more chance!" he whined "no that was it, your captured now." I replied "so how are we going to do this?" he asked. "now I'll cocoon you and once you escape you can save me and we can fight the queen." I said excitedly. "well ok." he said back
I looked around the room for something to use. this was going to be so fun, I thought to myself. Andrew did taekwondo (probably spelled that wrong) and had a white belt folded up on his dresser. I grabbed this, one of his fabric belts (the ones that have two rectangular metal loops on the end and tighten when slipped through both the right way) and an extra blanket that was on the floor at the foot of his bed. While standing, I told him to put his arms down by his sides and wrapped the fabric belt around him, pinning his arms to his torso.
"Why can't I cocoon you so you can escape and save me?" he asked, "because I've been captured longer and the queen injected me with a weakening venom" I replied, trying to sound like a scientist. Then I told him to lie down on the blanket, which I had unfolded on his bed, pushing aside the blanket I had been wrapped up in. I rolled him up in the blanket, leaving just his feet and head exposed. I then tied the taekwondo belt around his ankles, securing his feet together to the best of my ability.
I really wanted this to be a challenge to him, but I did not know how to effectively tie someone up. The fabric belt was no problem, since it was meant to be strapped on and I could do that the normal way I was used to when wearing it. The only knot I knew how to tie at the time was to tie shoes, and there was not enough slack left to tie it that way, so i just did the first step of shoe-tying twice. discovering (and I thought inventing) the square knot.
Andrew was now cocooned in his blanket, facing the opposite direction I had been on the bed. I now re-wrapped myself in the other blanket, and layed down the the same position I was before, facing Andrew's socked and tied feet.
"can I start now?" he whined. "yes now try to escape!" I announced and started to pretend to struggle vigorously. Andrew at first only wiggled around, trying to shake the belts loose. I watched his tied feet stretch and flex. then he got smart. he started to move his limbs, virtually unrestricted by the poorly wrapped blanket, perpendicular to the bonds, and he eventually slipped his hands out of the belt. he wriggled his way out of the blanket, and I watched as he untied his feet with no difficulty at all. It had not occurred to me that the taekwondo belt had to be untied and retied each time he wore it, having no buckle, and that it was part of his uniform so he did this almost every day. he had me free in a matter of seconds after I had finished "cocooning him.
I was slightly disappointed that Andrew so easily escaped, but then helped him take down the alien queen, and played normally without thinking about it again until my mom picked me up. i never thought about it as an obsession, or something that turned me on, but something that was especially fun, and for some reason most tugs I played as a child stuck in my memory better than any other game I played.
This was about a year after my previous story, that's how infrequently these things occurred when I was little, but as i go on, the intervals between incidents will shrink in size. I'm sorry If this one doesn't have great flow or verbiage, but I am pretty tired as I am writing this. please tell me as well If I am using too big of words, I tend to slip into SAT mode while writing, and I can't imagine my story being very interesting if you need a dictionary just to read it.
