34 warships for one man

I really don't blame him... India couldn't even manage the Commonwealth Games. I wouldn't trust their security aparatus, either. The president SHOULD have an island of security around him in such a place. It's even a massive undertaking to move the prez around the U.S., never mind a third world, foreign nation like India.

hey, he is the man with the most power in the world, he needs to be protected, and he needs to show our power so we dont lose it

This all seems pretty ridiculous to me. All that money that must have been spent on these lavish security arrangements (who the hell needs 20 cars?!?) could have been spent on more worthwhile things like feeding the hungry and sheltering the homeless, or improving our schools. THAT would be a more meaningful way to show America's power. IMHO our government's priorities are badly skewed!

Don't forget. Money spent= jobs, regardless of who's doing the spending.

Better idea. Take all the money from the CIA black operations slush fund and put it to use saving our country from dumb politicians. I am certain lots of Americans would gladly work that type of job.

Yeah, but most of these people are from security agencies and the military.... Ye good ole military-industrial complex- it keeps New England's economy chuggin' along...

Yeah, and just who is this money providing jobs for, exactly? The military, who would have already had these jobs regardless? And if it takes 34 warships to protect the president, our military is in really bad shape.

Actually, that's the least of it. Those warships are alredy operational and manned, and may as well be *somewhere* doing *something*. May as well be where they sent them to 'protect' the President (though I'm a tad vague about how *that* works, but never mind). Only real special expense involved there is the fuel used up to send them to their new destination and then out again.

I agree that 34 ships is more than a bit much. Takes a LOT of fuel to move all those ships around thousands of miles too! Our tax dollars at work!
Didn't see what the threat you wanted to point out was, as I didn't feel like sitting thru a frikking video advertisement to find out what the Today Show video was about. Maybe a more patient soul can enlighten the rest of us and save us the bother.

I read "The Trojan War" back in 1995-1996 in grade 6. Had to do it also that school year as a class play for Greek Day. But thanks for the reminder Reaper.

This story is complete bullshit, being pushed by, what else? Fox News and the rightwing lunatocracy.
Maybe you should check the facts before posting anonymous sources from India.
Or just watch the 11-08-10 Daily Show to get a good laugh at this propaganda.

India's media is the one who reported this, not Fox.

The Pentagon has denied the story.

Then you have not been watching Fox "News" or listening to Hannity, Beck or Limbaugh on the radio.
They are going batshit over this!

No, I don't really care for them so I don't pay attention to them. Except Shepard Smith who's pretty good, but I can't tell you the last time I watched him either.
