A new banner

Postby mikeybound » Mon Nov 26, 2012 7:39 pm

Years ago, the banner for this site was changed from a pair of bound hands to what it is today. Perhaps we could change it again, just for fun? I've noticed several talented artists on deviantart.

Why not an actual photo?

That'd work too. I'm just hoping the mods would be alright with changing it every now and then. You know, for varieties sake.

Na, personally a computer drawn image will look best, a photo will look odd with the rest of the graphics and a hand drawing might look good if it is presented in the right way.

I respectfully disagree. I think either would look fine as long as the drawing was well done and the photo was taken by someone who knows what they are doing.

Well, their is then also the issue of adding a new banner...

How phpBB forums work is they have a left and right piece, and then a middle piece which is repeated multiple times until the gap is covered. Then their is the logo which is placed on top of this.

The logo can be of any size, and the rest will be resized to match. So for this really a new logo is needed, which would be like a banner and would look good on the background (or the background images can be changed to make them appear invisible).

And yes a photo might look good, but I can see an effect needing to be applied like a darkened edge or something to help to make it fit in more.

I wonder if Jason Toddman would honour us with one of his works?

We could also re-use the cute image from tugstories.tieupgames.net, which has been pretty much abandoned for 3 years. I doubt anyone would object.

I hate our current banner and always have. it looks too childish. Anyone is free to make us a new one, and if i like it ill change it.

I can always give it a shot if anyone can suggest how it basically look like; relative dimensions, gender of characters depicted, and so on.
If I did one, I'd like it to be generally popular rather than just based on my own particular tastes.

I agree with Zanev.
Why don't we take up Jason's offer?

Basically for me to approve it, I want it to look more professional than our current one. Somthing that doesn't like like a 8 year old made.. Even though this site is about childhood tie ups, it doesnt need to look like a child made it.

Got any guidelines (besides the obvious ones about nudity and so forth), or shall I just wing it?
What I'm currently thinking of is showing several people (moderately and variously clothed, both genders, late teens) in a 'line-up' in various TUGs poses, including a hog-tie, stand up tied to a post (like my current avatar), a stake-out, A chair-tie, and perhaps a suspension tie, with a couple of captors looking on gleefully.

I do like the present theme of the drawing used. I would like to see it still with a woman in charge and a man tied by her.

Well, there's a vast variety of interests that a lot of people don't share. That's why I thought alternating every now and then would be good.

I've made a poll in a separate thread (since I could not put one here as I didn't start this thread) so that everyone who wants to can vote for what they'd like:

I know it'll have to be small, but so is my avatar. You don't have trying seeing the detail in that, do you? :big:

No worries. I intend to make it easy to see details even when shrunk to the size of the current banner. I can also make it available for view in a larger size as an attachment on this thread, once I actually draw the thing. :big:

Yes, that was already my intention. I wanted to make it more or less the same proportions as the banner that's already there; especially as that would fit the idea I have in mind for the layout best anyway.

Even though they may be big they can always be resized smaller.
