An Emergency (Poor Excuse for an April Fool's Joke)

Postby The Black Falcon » Sat Mar 31, 2012 10:30 pm

Let me put this forth: This is going to sound ridiculous. Utterly impractical. But I swear to God it's true, and I am seriously panicking right now.
My girlfriend was kidnapped.
Let me elaborate. I've talked about my girlfriend before on this forum, like in the topic "Oh, Canada." Even though she lives far away from me, I hear from some of her friends that she's gone missing. She's got some bitter ex-boyfriends, so I've got my suspicions. I don't want to get law enforcement involved, so I'm going there myself. My friends are helping me by driving me there. I hope martial arts training will be enough, but even so, I've got backup.
I'm going to need any advice from you. So much is depending on it so I ask all of you to wish me luck. If you can suggest some ways to help in any way possible, the effort would not go unrecognized.

If she has gone missing, no doubt law enforcement became involved within 24 or 48 hours of the initial report. Sooner, if there was a ransom demand.

That being said, the investigators, whether they are local, state/provincial, or national, are trained professionals. My best advice, would be to give them as much information and insight that you can, then stay the hell out of their way, and let them do their jobs. The time they spend dealing with you, is time they do not spend trying to locate your girl friend. Besides, if you do get in the way, you may find yourself charged with interfering in an ongoing investigation, and in a 6x10 cell at the local lock up.

I know it's a helpless feeling to just sit on the sidelines and watch. You want to get in there and do something. But once law enforcement is involved, you have to sit and watch. If you involve yourself, you are only going to make the situation worse, and cause problems for yourself.

Sorry if this is not what you want to hear, but you asked for advice, and this is mine.

I don't think this is a good joke. Because what if it's real? Sorry for being a kill joy.

Thanks everybody for your support, and I'd like to give you a quick update.
I'm currently in Canada. I took the soonest flight I could. And apparently I judged wrong. Her ex-boyfriend's don't have her captive, but rather some kind of evil corporation, led by a guy who calls himself Bowser. And you're never going to believe this, but she's being held in some giant castle thing. I'm going in to save her in a few hours. I'll tell you all how it goes.

Ignoring the date, surely if your gf WAS captured, you wouldn't post on a message board about it. Just saying.

Well, I did it. I am covered in 3rd degree burns and have my legs broken in both places, but I finally rescued her. I found her bound and gagged in some kind of cage dangling over boiling lava. But don't worry, after some mushrooms and fireballs and whatnot (honestly it's all a blur to me), my girlfriend is safe once more.

No! :geek:
Even starting out, I figured either YOU were trying to fool us or - to give you the benefit of the doubt - that your GF (with some help) was trying to fool you. But it got obvious pretty quickly which was which.
Nice try but even I didn't fall for it - and I'm usually considered a pretty gullible fellow; at least, offline! :quirk:

I'm not surprised that you hallucinated about the life of a fictional super hero plumber after some mushrooms.

I AM surprised that upon defeating the lizard, you weren't told that your princess was in another castle.
