Jews into tugs???

Postby truly_trussed » Sun Dec 21, 2014 7:08 am

Hi DRP,

I'm not Jewish (Goys R Us) but isn't Passover a celebration of release from bondage? :tied:

Couldn't resist that! T.T.

DRP, I do know the difference, this is just a play on words.

Has nothing to do with religion but when I think of Jews and bondage, the first thing that comes to my mind is a very famous Jewish entertainer. That was in the 1984 comedy film "Broadway Danny Rose". In it gangsters tie up Woody Allen and Mia Farrow. Their hands are tied behind their backs. The couple is tied together face-to-face and placed on top of a desk. They have a comedic escape. They aren't gagged so you can hear their gags. You can see that clip. Just use your search engine for "Broadway Danny Rose (clip) Wriggle."

Good luck on your Yeshiva studies. BTW IMO this thread belongs in TUGs Talk. Perhaps the Mods could move this. T.T.

Hi DRP
I'm not Jewish either; just making an inquiry as a mod.
Is the purpose of this thread to connect with Jews thru PMs, emails, or some form of chat, or just have your conversation with them here on the thread?
If on the thread, this topic might get more of the kind of responses you're looking for on Tugs Talk.
I can move it there if you like or leave it here; your choice. Just thought I'd ask.
Dare to be different... and make a difference.
To boldly go where no one in their right mind has gone before...

I've been into tugs fit a few years and almost all my tugs have been with jewish friends but we never talked about how tugs are viewed in jewish tradition, ethics etc.

I'd like to start a conversation on the interplay between jewish law, philosophy, values and tugs/ kink/ bondage

Well, just for starters, if you are traditionally observant, you should not be tying knots on Shabbat. Duct tape would also be problematic. Buckling and Velcro straps would be permitted, as would handcuffs. :)

Other than that, though, I can't think of anything even from a strict orthodox perspective that would prohibit bondage that does not involve sexual gratification. Between a husband and wife, my understanding of the halachah is that they may do anything not specifically prohibited that would increase their sexual pleasure - and I am not aware of any specific prohibition of bondage.

Ethically, as long as nobody is doing anything to another person that the other person doesn't want done, I see no problem.

On the other hand, Shabbat is the day of rest. If you're securely tied up, all you can do is rest! :)

And melacha ( rest) does not necessarily mean physical rest. That's a rather liberal approach.

The tongue-in-cheek point stands - you're not going to perform any m'lachah (and yes, I know exactly what it means). But seriously, you haven't established that it is a transgression under any and all circumstances. Between a husband and wife I would think it permitted even on Shabbat as long as the method of restraint did not itself involve m'lechet avodah.

Shabbat aside, another way that bondage promotes Jewish values: a nice mouth-filling gag is a great way to prevent lashon hara. :)

I'm a jew, secular one.
As long as it is not sexual I dont thik that you have problem with bondage. The shabat thing is depent of your belifies and your interpataion to "rest"
