What percentage of people are into TUG's?

Postby thewrath248 » Thu Nov 24, 2011 9:25 pm

I've never really brought it up in regular conversation because well. It would sound odd to me and I want to know what the odds are of finding people who are close to me who are also into TUG's. If you don't have a specific number, tell me how you found out and what to look for to see if they are into this kind of stuff. :bound: :tied: :gag: The general stuff. Thanks. Happy TUG's

I'd say most all people enjoy power exchanges one way or the other. I'm sure about half of us regularly fantasize, and the other half either haven't been introduced to it or they had a bad first experience which drove them away from the activity.

I saw a TV talk show several years ago featuring couples into BDSM. If you haven't guessed already it was The Jerry Springer Show. They did flash a factoid on the screen that 17% of the male population and 14% of the female population was kinky. Recently I saw somewhere, but can't remember where, that it was a near-reversal with 17% of the female population and 12% of the male population into kink. Perhaps some Tuggers can do some scholarly research on this subject and post it. Judging by the writing I'd say many members have a higher than average intellect.

Did it possibly say what age group that was?

No, I can't say what the ages are. I would think it'd be a general survey of the populace. Many scientific polls (not "Fun Polls") seem to question around 1500 people for accuracy, at least that's that what I learned in a university class called Public Opinion. That's why I asked for more research from the Academic Community. I'm sure there's a Professor Tug or two out there somewhere. Taking and un-scientific opinion I'd say attitudes are more open among the youngsters, that is those 30 and under. Let's hear it for Academia, if you got facts and figures, feel free to share.

Actually I am let to believe that there is a "TUG" phase or a "TUG" fascination period for most of kids, when the mind isn't still constrained (funny, constrained as anti-TUG) in a social behavior framework.

I did some observation a couple of years ago when I was in attending a church summer camp. I brought with me a pair of handcuffs and two thumbcuffs for some lockpicking tricks. I often left them deliberately on a table during free activity time to see how many other kids tried or asked to try them.... there was always a waiting list...

I'd like to think we're just a bunch of kids at heart who never outgrew playing Cops and Robbers or Cowboys and Indians. I'm sure it much more complex than that. (By the way, have kids played Cowboys and Indians in the last 40 years, at least in the U.S. or Canada?) If there is a Professor Tugs out there I wish he or she would come forward with some profundities to find out why we are the way we are.

I'd say a pretty high percentage of people have a passing interest in it, but the number of people who are "really" into it is probably in the low double-digit percent range. That's just an educated guess. Leave some duct tape near kids and sooner or later somebody's getting their mouth taped, and possibly their hands/arms as well.

Just have a look at the number of "play" tugs, some really elaborate, not something imporvised, posted by kids on youtube.
A good starting point is www.youtube.com/user/Ryanorange2 and you'll see what I mean.

BTW, the games with handcuffs and thumbcuffs were done openly in the church camp even in the parent's day and no one complained. They just took it as it should be. An innocent game.
I noticed that a couple of dads were takning pictures aplenty... ;-) Funny I haven't seen them on the web up to now.

I think something that has to be discussed here is, what is the line to be considered "into" tie-ups? Based on discussions with people and things I've seen on the Internet it's a very common thing to have done at least once or twice, but I don't think that's really the same thing as being interested in it.

There was a show on a couple of weeks ago in the UK called "The Joy Of Teen Sex" - and they had a feature about bondage and fetish.

One of their statistics was that 11% of 16-24 year olds that they had interviewed had said they had engaged in some form of bondage play and a slightly higher percentage (can't remember the exact figure) had said they had tried out the s&m fetish more generally.

Obviously this statistic is fairly narrow - it's only looking at 16-24 year olds and is also only going on a cross section of people who were happy to be interviewed about their sex lives. And then if you add in the fact that a lot of people may have had an interest but not mentioned it etc etc.

So, basically, I'm not sure. But I'm guessing a fair amount of people wouldn't mind a bit of TUG fun xD
