Story. Need help!

Postby MoonDust » Wed Jul 03, 2013 1:49 pm

This is not really a story request, it's more a ask for 'badly need help with some ideas'.

I'm out of ideas for any type of fictional tug stories, or I have a lot, but they all seem to get too long. So it would be awesome to see some suggestion thrown down!

Draw on your own experiences (or fantasies), and if you are still stuck, read some of the material in the "stories" sections.

Thanks guys! I do appreciate your great help.

And drawscore, I totally agree with you on the matter. I usually like to use my own ideas and I want things to be really original, to make something that is fully mine. When I was younger I had thousands of fantasies, but little experience. I still have little experience and enough fantasies to probably write a whole bible. But when I first try... I kind of get really stuck in it, either it gets too long and I lose interest, or I just don't know how to write it down without sounding like an idiot. I've also read tons of stories here to get some help, but when I start writing, I become afraid it is too much of that story and that I don't have my own thing, even if it isn't at all.

I'd totally try to use these great offers of help and try to get something going around them. Thanks alot people!

"I just don't know how to write it down without sounding like an idiot". I don't know how many times I've felt like that about half-way through the story I'm writing, but I just keep on and in the end it usually turns out to be rather a good story, after all.

And as for some of your stories being too long and you loose interest in them: how about turning one such story into several installments over several days? That way you get the chance to keep your interest, and the story, alive.
Whazzzz up!.

Writing is an acquired skill. As with any other acquired skill, you have to practice. Supposedly, the more you do, the better you get at it.

Well I've never actually tried it like that before I think. I'll definetly try what you're suggesting there, lasse!

I don't think it's lack of skill I have to actually write a story, but of course I'm not a pro at writing either and you never get enough practice, that's the only way. Buuuut a very important part of practicing is to accept help from other people, to search for tutorials, take classes, whatever that can make you good at something. Everyone need practicing, whatever they want to do and you gotta work hard to achieve it. It's one thing I know, I lack things in writing, such as grammar faults, typos, spacing, but I know how to write and to create visualized pictures, and it's easy.

I do not have ideas to share with you at this time MoonDust, but I have read some of your works and rest assured, you write VERY well. Your stories (the few I have read) are nice and flowing, easy to follow and quite descriptive.
