Jews and pro-Israel Lobbyists in David Cameron’s Resignation Honours List

The Resignation Honours List that former British Prime Minister David Cameron proposed in 2016, and which was then approved by his successor (now former) Prime Minister Theresa May (1) triggered a series of significant frightened convulsions and angry eruptions among Great Britain’s chattering classes.

There were a slew of articles in the British media covering the sheer cronyism involved in Cameron’s honours list. Accusations were levelled, the list desperately defended, people called bigots and all sorts of other rhetorical goodies. (2)

There was even talk of David Cameron having to face a formal inquiry into his resignation honours submission, which was gloriously like grinding his face further into the mud after his complete humiliation over the failure to stop the victory of the Brexit campaign in the 2016 referendum. (3)

What hasn’t really been covered elsewhere is the jewish angle to the now famous 48 recommendations for honours and peerages made by Cameron. Before someone says it; I don’t think that the choice was totally or even heavily influenced by the jewish angle as clearly a lot of it is simply old school British cronyism especially in and around the failed ‘Remain’ campaign during the Brexit vote. (4)

All that being said; I would remiss if I didn’t point out that out of Cameron’s resignation honours and peerages recommendations there is no example of anyone who can be remotely considered anti-Israel or to have utter anything other than paeans of praise for the jewish people. Well other than Shami Chakrabarti who was not proposed as a peer by Cameron but by his then erstwhile political rival - who also happens to be part jewish - (5) Jeremy Corbyn. (6)

This argument is strengthened by observing that David Cameron has long made much of his jewish ancestry, (7) has been labelled as the most pro-Israel British Prime Minister ever (8) and his successor Theresa May tried to equal and even supersede him in this slavish devotion to the interests of the jewish state. (9)

When we look at the two resignation honours lists that have now been officially published by the British government, we note the following jewish individuals are on it: (10)

Daniel Korski – Former Deputy Director of the Number 10 Policy Unit (11)

Oliver Letwin – Former Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster (12)

Will Straw – Former Leader of the ‘Remain’ Campaign (13)

Eleanor Wolfson – Former Deputy Chief of Staff to the Chancellor of the Exchequer (14)

In addition, there is good evidence that the following individuals on the list are likely to be jewish:

Olivia Bloomfield – Current Chairman of the Pump House Project and former Partner at the Atlantic Superconnection Corporation (15)

Nicholas Howard – Former Assistant Private Secretary to the Prime Minister (16)

Caroline Spelman – Second Church Estates Commissioner and former Cabinet Minister (17)

Charlotte Todman – Former Senior Press Officer (18)

Of these individuals we have evidence that Korski and Howard (if my surmise about the latter’s identity is correct) are very active in pro-Israel/pro-jewish circles. (19) It is reasonable given their senior positions to suggest that they were – and are - pro-Israel given the power of the Conservative Friends of Israel within the Conservative Party, which has been freely admitted by both their friends (20) and foes alike. (21) In addition to the similar level of power wielded by the Labour Friends of Israel group within the Labour Party. (22)

Therefore, we can reasonably state that 4 out of the 48 proposed honours have been to jews. This translates to 8.3% of the total honours list, which is circa 14 times the jewish representation in the British population (0.6%; i.e., 370,000 jews out of a 2016 total population of 64,100,000). (23)

When we add in those individuals who are likely jewish, but I cannot absolutely prove it. We get some 8 out of the 48 proposed honours have been to jews. This translates to 16.7% of the total honours list, which is circa 28 times the jewish representation in the British population.

That is scary enough, but things get utterly terrifying when we examine those on the list who have strong pro-Israel/pro-jewish links.

Camilla Cavendish – Former Policy Unit Chief (24)

Philip Hammond – Former Chancellor of the Exchequer and former Foreign Secretary (25)

John Hayes – Minister of State for Transport (26)

Nick Herbert – Chair of the All Party Group on Global TB and Global LGBT Rights and former Minister of State for Police and Criminal Justice (27)

Tim Kiddell – Private Secretary to the Prime Minister (28)

David Lidington – Former Leader of the House of Commons (29)

Ed Llewellyn – David Cameron’s former Chief of Staff (30)

Patrick McLoughlin – Former Conservative Party Chairman, Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster and Transport Secretary (31)

George Osborne – Former Chancellor of the Exchequer (32)

Nick Seddon – Former Special Advisor to the Prime Minister (33)

Hugo Swire – Former Minister of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs and Minister of State for Northern Ireland (34)

Therefore, we can say that 11 individuals who aren’t jewish out of the 48 proposed for honours by David Cameron have strong links to pro-Israel activity or the jewish community. This translates to 22.9% of the total honours list.

If we add together all three sets of individuals (i.e., those known to be jewish, those likely to be jewish and those who have demonstrably strong pro-Israel views and/or ties to the jewish community) we get a total of 19 individuals out of the 48 proposed for honours by David Cameron. This translates to a whopping 39.6% of the total honours list.

Now while I am not arguing that jewishness and pro-Israel/strong links to the jewish community were the main considerations in awarding these honours. I do think however it likely given just how high the percentage of the individuals concerned who fall into this category is that this was at least a consideration.

It is simply very difficult to convincingly explain this correlation any other way as claiming it is just coincidence (aka the sceptic fallacy of eternal ‘accidentalism’ [everything they don’t like is an accident and has no meaning]) is not an argument in and of itself being akin to claiming that it was ‘fated to happen’ at some point in the universe’s existence.

Make of the facts what you will, but you can only to continue to ignore what is for so long before the truth catches up with you.
