One of the odder claims that I've read is that the London 2012 Olympic logo spells the word 'Zion'. Now as this particular claim occasionally gets brought out; I thought I would briefly examine it to see if it has any validity.
Now normally I wouldn't bother with people seeing other words or specific shapes in apparently nonsensical contexts: rather like how we not infrequently hear claims of people seeing the face of Jesus in the pattern of the spread on their morning toast or like Alex Jones looking at the design of an office block and claiming it is shaped like an owl, which is in turn apparently a symbol of the Illuminati.
However, this particular claim was picked up by the Iranian authorities back in the early 2011 and the Iranians even went so far as to write an official letter to the International Olympic Committee (or IOC) complaining that this should be changed. (1) So, it renders the theory from being one of many kooky and outright weird theories out there into one that at least needs to be thought about before being dismissed as so much electronic junk.

To briefly address the claim: it is held that the Israel Lobby, the Israeli government and/or the jews more generally decided to arrange it so the letters of the London 2012 logo could be potentially read as 'Zion' if one rearranged them and turned them up a different way.
This seems to work well for the representation of the first '2' as a 'Z', the '1' as an 'I' and '0' as and 'O'. However, we hit a snag when it comes to the second '2' for 'N' as it is very hard to see an 'N' in the second '2'.
Inversely we can see that the same applies if we read it the other way with the second '2' as a 'Z' and so forth: however again we hit a snag in the 'N' in so far as it doesn't look very much like an 'N' and it could be read a 'Z' just as easily.
The problem of course is that this requires you read the text in a preconceived way: i.e., you have to want to see 'Zion' in the 2012 logo to see that word there.
Rather like - I might add - playing a heavy metal record backwards was thought by some in the 1980s to play secret suicidal and/or satanic messages to the listener. You have to want to hear that message to hear it: however, it - like playing a record backwards - boggles the imagination as to the logic behind this alleged behaviour. As people don't tend to listen to their music backwards and are hardly likely to be listening for 'messages'.
Similarly, people don't tend to look at logos as if they mean very much: they look at them as if they are a general identifying mark which commands a few seconds attention at the most. Why on earth the Israel Lobby, Israeli government and/or the jews more generally would want to put a proverbial 'subliminal message' into the London 2012 Olympic logo is beyond me.
What on earth could they hope to achieve by it?
To stamp their mark on the games? Why?
Why London 2012? Why not Atlanta 2004?
You see the problems just keep coming and as such we can see that it is very difficult to read one as the other. One rather thinks the Iranian government had some ulterior motive for claiming this as it is just so absurd that it defies any other explanation: possibly to try - however badly - to bring the power of Israel in Europe and North America to world attention?
It is a hypothetical possibility, but I think we can only really guess at what the Iranians were actually thinking.
This is especially true as other similar conspiracy theorists have already claimed that both '2s' combined make a swastika, (2) which again requires you to look for it to see it as when you move the '2s' together you can see how a largely amorphous lump with four legs sticking out a bit.
While yet others have seen a 'sexual act' in the logo: (3) the logic of which I must admit generally escapes me unless someone has a very fervent imagination and - to use Freudian terminology for lack of anything better - a lot of repressed sexuality.
All in all, it is blatantly the case that this is another case of seeing the face of Jesus in your toast and has little to no real basis to it. After even proponents of this weird and outright wacky theory can't really explain what on earth the Israel lobby, the Israeli government and/or the jews more generally seek to gain by allegedly doing this.
