Then humanity started splitting atoms, broadcasting radio signals, testing nuclear devices, and — most critically — firing **proton-based particle streams** at spectral matter millions of times across sixty years of Ghostbusting operations. The wall is now thin enough that something on the other side has noticed the light leaking through.

**The Vorath Dominion** — an ancient, empire-scale civilization of spectral beings — has been watching those cracks appear for decades. And they've decided to stop waiting for the wall to fall on its own.

Billions of years ago, when the Vorath still had something resembling individual identity, Slimer chose *attachment* over conquest. He found things he liked — warmth, food, company — and he refused to let go of them. He was cast out. He drifted. He eventually found the Ghostbusters and, in his wordless, green, chaotic way, *chose them.*

He is the proof, present since the very beginning, that the Vorath are not a monolith — that something in them once chose something other than war.

His arc is told almost entirely without dialogue — in expressions, actions, and one single moment in Arc III where he does something so brave and unexpected that it redefines everything.

He knows the invasion is coming before the arc ends. His decision to collaborate with the Vorath rather than fight them is not cowardice. It is the calculus of a man told: *either you help us occupy your world, or we erase it from existence.* He chooses occupation. He sends Phoebe away first.

His redemption is not forgiveness. It is *action.* He doesn't ask to be forgiven. He just does the thing that needs doing and walks into it without looking back.

## Episode/Issue 1 — *"...In the Neighborhood"*

The episode opens on the **firehouse.** It is 6:47 AM. Something is leaking from the ceiling. The Ecto-1 is being held together with electrical tape and what appears to be a wooden spoon lodged in the engine. Phoebe is at her desk, surrounded by PKE meter printouts, and she has not slept.

Nobody believes the reading spike is significant. The team is politely, affectionately exhausted by Phoebe's obsessions.

**Entity One: The Child Ghost**

Marcus is watching Lily very carefully. Something is *wrong.* The way she moves is slightly off — like someone doing an impression of a child rather than being one. The emotional beats land half a second too late. When Felix describes a specific phenomenon, Lily reacts to the *words* before seeing the *thing* — as if she understands the explanation, not the event. He pulls Phoebe aside twice. Phoebe, locked onto her PKE readings, waves him off both times. She is tracking something extraordinary in the other half of the house, and it's pulling her entire focus.

**Entity Two: The Unknown**

The **Unknown Entity moves.**

Not toward the team. *Between* them and the Infiltrator. It is enormous and fast and the Infiltrator, for the first time, looks like it is afraid. The confrontation is brief. The Infiltrator retreats, dissolving into the walls and gone.

**Silence.**

The Unknown Entity settles. It does not threaten. It does not pursue. It turns — if "turning" is the right word for something with no fixed form — toward Phoebe.

And it *reshapes.*

Not all the way into a human. But *toward* one — a humanoid silhouette with too-long limbs and features that suggest a face without quite having one. A face made of the *idea* of a face. And it speaks — not with sound exactly, but with something that lands in the room like sound:

**Episode 2: "The Diplomat"**
The team's debrief with the entity — now dubbed **"The Diplomat"** by Yo, who refuses to call it anything else until it gives a proper name. It shares fragments of what it knows: the Vorath are coming, the membranes are failing, Egon has been tracking this from The Grey and cannot get through alone. It will not answer every question. It will not stay. It leaves an impression on Phoebe's PKE meter that she will spend the rest of the arc trying to decode.

Meanwhile: Marcus and Phoebe have their first real argument. He's not wrong that she dismissed him. She's not wrong that the entity turned out to be helpful. They are both wrong about how they handled it. Neither apologizes cleanly. It will come up again.

**Episode 3: "Ghost in the Machine"**
High-ranking figures across New York are behaving erratically. A city councillor gives a speech that contains seventeen minutes of completely coherent policy followed by thirty seconds of what sounds like a different language spoken in a different voice. A police commissioner cancels three press conferences. A federal judge issues a ruling that makes no legal sense and seems to contain a pattern in the incoherence. Vorath Infiltrators are nesting in positions of power. The team can prove it to themselves. They cannot prove it to anyone else.

Running subplot: Yo posts an edited clip of the councillor's speech. It gets 2 million views. The story is covered as a mental health piece. No one mentions the other language.

**Episode 4: "Cease and Desist"**
Winston drops the lawsuit. The team is legally enjoined from using the name **"Ghostbusters"** for a period of 90 days pending trademark review. This is simultaneously petty, technically legal, and personally devastating to Phoebe who has *never once thought of herself as anything other than a Ghostbuster* since she was twelve years old.

Yo puts a new sign on the door by morning: **"GhostbOOsters"** — with a logo of a cartoon female ghost in the iconic circle-and-slash, winking. The sign is *perfect.* It is immediately photographed and goes mildly viral. Winston's PR team has a controlled, professional meltdown.

**Episode 5: "The Anchor"**
The team investigates a building in Queens that has been "wrong" for months — residents report cold spots, structural sounds without structural cause, and the sense of being watched by the building itself. Felix identifies it: a Vorath **Anchor.** The first one they've encountered. An engineer-class entity that has been slowly, invisibly converting the building's physical fabric into spectral material — beginning the process of dimensional terraforming.

This is the first episode where the scale of what's coming becomes material and real. The Anchor is removed, but the building is permanently damaged in ways that can't be easily explained — some walls have become partially non-Euclidean. The city condemns it. The cover story is asbestos.

Marcus, standing in a hallway that bends in a direction that doesn't exist, says quietly: *"Phoebe. How many buildings do you think have this."*

Phoebe checks her three weeks of readings. Pulls up a city map. Marks every spike.

**Episode 6: "Senator Calloway"**
The depossession of Senator Richard Calloway. The team is hired anonymously — turns out it was Calloway's chief of staff, desperate, who found them through Yo's viral clips. The Senator is a difficult patient: even mid-depossession, the Vorath Infiltrator wearing him attempts to negotiate, threatens, and at one point tries to bribe them. It speaks in the Senator's voice, which is deeply unnerving. It offers Phoebe information about Egon in exchange for letting it stay. She hesitates for one second — just one — and then Marcus finishes the depossession.

They don't discuss the hesitation. Later, when they're alone, Marcus brings it up. Gently. Phoebe says she knows. She says she would have made the same call in the end. Marcus says he knows she would have. He says he just wants her to know that *he* would have waited for her to make it herself. 

This is the closest the show gets to a romantic moment in Arc I.

The depossessed Calloway is shaken, humbled, and entirely willing to listen. He doesn't become a hero overnight — he's still a mediocre politician — but he is now a *useful* one. He believes them. He will use his connections. He joins their cause.

**Episode 7: "The Breach" — Arc I Finale**
Three things happen in rapid succession. In a lesser show they would be spread across episodes. Here, they happen in thirty minutes because that's how real catastrophe works: **all at once.**

One: The team, with Calloway's help, brings their evidence to a closed Senate hearing. Ray Stantz testifies alongside Phoebe. It goes better than expected and worse than needed. The committee will "review findings." It will take six to eight weeks.

Two: Phoebe's PKE network — now expanded across the city with sensors Felix and Marcus built from scravenged parts — all spike simultaneously. Every reading, every Anchor site, every flagged location — the same signal, the same moment. Something just sent a command.

Three: The sky above Manhattan does something it has never done before. Not a storm. Not an aurora. Something *else.* A shimmer. A wrinkle. The air above the city bends and tears like old paper, and through the tear comes light that is not any color that has a name.

**The Containment Cascade:**
Within 48 hours of the Breach, every major ghost containment unit on Earth fails simultaneously. The Vorath sent a signal through the newly opened Breach that disrupts the quantum-lock mechanisms at the core of all proton-based containment technology. Decades of captured entities are released globally. It is not the invasion. It is the *distraction.* The chaos of mass releases forces every government to deal with the immediate, visible, manageable problem — while the actual invasion infrastructure continues to build behind it.

Phoebe is the first to say this publicly, in a Senate emergency session that Ray arranges within 72 hours of the Breach. She stands up in front of the most powerful legislators in the country and says: *"You are being misdirected. This is not the threat. This is the door being kicked open so you don't notice the window."*

Calloway backs her up. They are not entirely believed. But they are *enough* believed. Something starts.

**The XCOM Arc:**
The SDI arc runs as a global escalation mission structure. New ghost types appear weekly. Vorath Shade Beasts are spotted in rural areas globally — fast, pack-hunting, mindless spectral predators. Siege Specters begin appearing over major cities — vast, slow entities that float above skylines like spectral storm systems. Wraith Soldier units begin making organized strikes on infrastructure.

The SDI fights back. They win some. They lose some. They build. They learn. The core team is stretched across global deployments, coordinating with military units in 40 countries who are, to varying degrees, willing to listen to the Ghostbusters.

Yo blasts a Wraith Soldier through the roof hatch with a handheld proton pistol she built from spare parts during their eleven days underground. Felix reads coordinates from a paper map because all digital systems are compromised.

They get out.

The world outside New York is not occupied — not yet, and not uniformly. Phoebe stares at him.

Phoebe — and Ray, and The Diplomat, and Slimer — argues for something that makes everyone uncomfortable: **coexistence.**
