/jp/ touhou visual novel possible plans/rough outline - start: getting lost in the forest of magic as an outsider who has settled in the village for some time yearly festival of some kind (fall harvest anyone?) around the corner and you want someone to go with, you Loner. knows of Marisa as an incident solver/someone willing to rub shoulders with powerful Youkai eventually makes it to the Kirisame Magic Shop by early afternoon, possibly after being harassed by local yooks Marisa doesn't understand why the hell you're so determined, disappointed you aren't buying anything reasoning/mild pleading ensues (chance at potentially being rejected outright depending on choices?) if successful, she acquiesces and tells you to come back tomorrow morning Marisa then spends the rest of the day scouting/checking up on the schedules of others when she can You come back, initial choice of girls ensues (none will be aware you'd be trying to court them at first) Possible mechanic of initially selecting an area rather than a specific girl? (3 or so girls per area, just you going) adding to the above point, who you end up with in each area could be dependent on where you decide to linger specifically ^(could leave room for unexpected encounters/surprises or not ending up with who you might initially think you would) once that specific route is finished successfully, option to either continue or go back to Marisa the following day depending on the girl, things may only get truly romantic if you follow-through with her the next day will ultimately end with one of the girls, going by yourself, or getting eaten by Rumia/stuck with some nobody - potential options (effort to not simply choose obvious 'hus/none of these are final, will be trimmed Heavily): [audience suggestions] Mokou (breaking down her shell might be difficult) Tenshi (high brat tolerance/possible correction) Meiling (likely pretty casual, just don't be a nuisance) Kasen (moralhu route, mild effort needed to get her in a more casual state (possible underlying intensity?)) Ran (would need to come off as very upstanding but not too creepy (secret Yukari route from here?)) Sekibanki (similar to Mokou but could be even more aloof/harder to wrangle or penetrate (emotionally you fucks)) Urumi (older lady, simple humble fish merchant, might be tough if you come on too strongly (hard to resist)) Orin (token catgirl, could be as fun as it'd be dangerous (secret Okuu route, would be even more chaos inducing) Mayumi (difficult environment to get to/she might be wary of you at first, but could be extremely endearing) Parsee ("I can fix her", it would be funny if there was a chance for you to jump to Yuugi from here or something) Shou (don't let the head monk find out if things get too scandalous, might be a slow burn but also kinda dorky) Megumu (might have to go through Aya or something to get to her, like a secret affair with the office boss) The Watatsuki Sisters (leaning towards Toyohime personally, all kinds of potential complications but Sure, Okay.) Seija (I doubt I could write well for her but she may be prone to rejection/outright fucking around with you) Sagume (potential for cute moe, though you'd have to both tread extremely carefully with her ability) Kanako (inherent power imbalance, most obvious one to prove your overall 'worth' to but also easily flustered) Marisa (mildly secret route ze? only available if you buy something on first day/chat or help & decide to reject others) [personal suggestions] Seiga (high risk, high reward? inherently the most sociopathic but hey if that's what you're into) Rika (it'd be nice if someone was dedicated enough to make this work somehow, idk where the hell you'd meet her though) Yumemi (extremely high dork potential but could be classy, wanted to include Kotohime but Yume might have more dedicated anons) Yumeko (getting to her would be a bitch and a half but she'd be as refined as she'd be stubborn) Alice ("can I fix her..?", throwing a bone for at least one other 'obvious' character) Komachi (is she one of the obvious ones? I don't really know, just a suggestion) Kogasa (I just think she'd be really cute and you could get up to fun antics with her) Kokoro (someone else would need to write for her but I know there's some diehards for her out there) Clownpiece (for all you freakjobs out there) Kutaka (diligent in her duties but has a cute side to her) Yuuma (another one that might be high risk/high reward but she apparently has that cute side to her) Takane (same as Kokoro) Sannyo (another older lady to round things out, would need a fair bit of convincing/long-conning herself) Chiyari (if you want to be with someone as crusty as you likely are, could be harder to bag than presumed though) Rinnosuke (this is really just more of a joke than anything but...would that still stop some of you?) ^all of these will need to be whittled down based on user interest, general franchise prevalence & dedicated writers available - possible scenarios/ideas: Katawa Shoujo inspiration? (have not played it myself honestly) failsafe ending of you rejecting everyone and embracing your loner self or dying like the stupid loser shut-in you are for the love of the Dragon God please at least use or compose Touhou/ZUN-adjacent music holy shit please??? (placeholder jp-esque music could be acceptable at first) lots of natural ambiance to set the mood takes place over span of three or so days? festival takes place on last day of course chances for an incident to break out depending on choices? or - some underlying incident threatens safety of festival, you only find this out once you start talking to the girls mechanic where you can choose to buy something from Marisa herself before things that might help with certain dates? girls/routes have chances to give certain items as well? indirect overlap with other routes depending on the scenario/day character-specific audio cues with variance on subtlety lets make the characters fallible (true to their form, you cannot effortlessly woo every single girl with talk alone) token grimsokyo folly with one/some of the routes depending on how dangerous the girl & location is obvious room for emotional tragedy/complexity (fights, disagreements, rejection, unreasonable Youkai expectations, etc.) some of the girls being two-faced bastards The Good Shit (>Touching hair, holding hands, taking a walk together, having a meal, doing chores, small talk, whatever) keeping majority of the routes straight-forward (one girl per scenario unless specified otherwise (Gap Hag, etc.)) >Make sure to add a line about how lost world fucking sucks timeloops mechanic?
